We’re excited about what God is doing at Powerhouse Church—lives are being changed, faith is growing, and momentum is building. In this episode of the Power Hour Podcast, we talk about the vision behind what’s happening now and what’s coming next.

We’re launching a year-plus sermon series through the Gospel of Mark, walking verse by verse through the life and ministry of Jesus. This intentional deep dive into Scripture is designed to help people truly understand who Jesus is—not based on culture, assumptions, or religion, but based on the Bible.

Why the book of Mark? Because it presents a clear, powerful picture of Jesus—His authority, His compassion, His miracles, and His mission. Our goal is simple: that everyone would encounter the real Jesus and grow in their faith.

If you’ve ever wanted to know Jesus more, understand the Bible better, or be part of what God is doing in a growing church, this episode is for you.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back everybody to another hour hour. We got episode 10. Hey, I'm Pastor Kyle. I'm Pastor Ty. I am super excited. You know, most podcasts we were just talking about. It only goes about five episodes on average. And here we are, episode 10. We've wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Finished the finish fine, crossed it into glory. Let's go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And we just appreciate you guys uh sharing it, talking about it amongst friends. Uh, it's amazing how many people are watching the reach that we are getting. We have people in uh middle of India actually that are watching it, people in Europe uh that are tuning in, and it's just it's cool to see what God's doing with the podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest, as a little bit of a skeptic, Pastor Kyle, when you talk to me about doing this, is like that sounds cool. I had to force you. I don't think anyone will care, but here we are. People are caring. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

People caring. They're watching a couple rednecks, uh, just shooting a podcast down in the basement. How about that? Hey, hey, it's a nice basement. I'm just saying. It is a very nice basement. Yeah, it's finished. It's got it's got stuff on the walls, it's fantastic. Well, awesome. Let's get right into it because this was a fun few weeks that we've had. Um, obviously, this last Sunday I had the opportunity to uh preach, which is always exciting. Preached on uh Jesus walking on water. Come on, yeah, that was that was uh a really fun message. I looked was looking forward to that one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you did a great job. I uh I just really appreciate, you know. I I had people tell me, Pastor, you can go anytime because Pastor Kyle does such a great job, and I loved it. Um even a few of them were like, I hope that doesn't hurt your feelings. And I was like, no, I love being a part of a church where we have so many staff pastors that can preach the word and do it well, where people are engaged and excited, and man, it just gives so much freedom to do all God wants us to do as a team.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, it's great, and we preach a little differently. I know I I always joke about being a little more Pentecostal, a little more riled up at times, and it's just different flavors. It's good to mix it up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you got a little bit of the organ still in you. We're working on it, we're working on it.

SPEAKER_00

I do. I still I still am rocking the Romeos over the Square Toad. Uh but yeah, I mean, I I got them at home. I got the square toes, so who knows? Maybe someday I'll I'll finally make the switch.

SPEAKER_01

We're still praying, man. We're still praying.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, I know. Just keep on keep on praying. But you know, it was really cool because we I had the opportunity to preach, but more importantly, uh, you were able to have the opportunity to go speak in Riggins, Idaho. And I know you have this great heart for rural churches.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. I mean, I grew up mostly in rural environments, uh, left the city when I was a teen, spent most of my ministry in rural environments, just have a passion for it and just want to see people reach for Jesus in small towns. You know, what people might not know is Jesus spent most of his ministry in small towns. He a lot of times avoided the cities and he saw major revival. And for me, I always laugh because I'll go to these pastor conferences, I'll be in meetings, and just a few weeks ago, I had to tell some pastors to knock it off because they were just like rural churches want this, rural churches want that. And they're all in big cities, right? Yeah. And they think that somehow we're country bumpkins because we're in a small town and we don't want good music and we don't want good preaching. And I'm like, come on, guys, just because we got some space between us and our neighbors doesn't mean that we don't want to see the the Lord do what the Lord does. And so I always love opportunities to go into smaller communities and just help that pastor, that church, that team, that community really experience all God has for them and plant some seeds that hopefully will create momentum that will see lives changed. And yeah, that's what we're all about.

SPEAKER_00

That's what it is, and that's so cool because uh we look at Powerhouse and we got this small church, middle of southeast Idaho, but our vision statement is very clear inviting Idaho to experience the power of God. That's a vision that is not limited to our city limits.

SPEAKER_01

No, and that was very much on purpose. You know, when we when we felt like God had given us that vision, what's funny is we didn't have any other campuses. We didn't we we hadn't even talked about it, but we just felt like God called us to a larger purpose than just what we immediately saw in front of us. And you know, now we have some uh other campuses we're looking to take on more, but yeah, we know that if we want all of Idaho to experience the power of God, uh I don't know about you, Pastor Kyle, but I just don't see us having a campus in every town in Idaho, but that doesn't mean that we can't come alongside other churches in Idaho and help them experience the same presence and power and favor and blessing of the Lord that we have.

SPEAKER_00

Every person in Idaho needs to experience the power of God. Come on, come on, what it's all about. I love it, and we're we're so excited because the next couple weeks, I feel like every week up to now of 2026 has been busy, but we're going into arguably two of the busiest weeks because we got Hawaiian Sunday, Palm Sunday, yes, coming up this Sunday, which will be awesome. Then that following Friday, I think it's April 3rd. We have um Good Friday, we got two services, and then we got Easter on Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. And man, these next couple weeks we're jumping to three services over here and falls, and even at our other campus in Fort Hall, they're already asking us about going to two services. So God's just awesome. God's on the move.

SPEAKER_00

God is on the move. No, it's so exciting because yeah, this Sunday, just a reminder, we we are going to services at 8 30, 10, and 11:30. And it's just making room for people to come in and experience Jesus in a whole new way. Yeah, it's gonna be so the next couple weeks are going to be crazy. Ah man, I'm excited.

SPEAKER_01

There's nothing like being tired doing the things the Lord called you to do. There's just there's nothing like it. It's a you it's not even just like a tired feeling, it's like a it's a it's a complete feeling, you know what I mean? Yeah, it's like a joy. Like you're like, man, I'm gonna go to sleep, but I'm gonna wake up and know that I get to do what the Lord called me to do every single day. So I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It's the best feeling. It's you can't describe it. It's crazy. Can't describe it. No, I am yeah, I am looking forward to it, seeing all the people coming in, praying for lives to be transformed, for the uh plans of the enemy to be destroyed, and for Jesus Jesus to be proclaimed. Come on. Oh man, I'm looking forward to it. Well, the other thing I'm really looking forward to it too is what's coming up after Easter.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So coming up, uh, we're talking, I think it's April 12th is the first Sunday after Easter. We are mixing it up how we do things a little bit in Powerhouse. Everybody knows we don't like just sticking to traditions or to something just because we've done it that way in the past. So we are mixing it up as far as uh our series and how we're presenting uh the message every single Sunday. I'm looking forward to it. Do you want to kind of break the news on what's going to be happening?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So uh I think we have it mapped out to over a year, like what is it gonna be like 13, 14 months that we're gonna be spending the next 52 weeks. We'll break off for Christmas, Easter next year, all that good stuff. But the next 52 weeks, the next 13 months going through the gospel of Mark.

SPEAKER_00

Let's go.

SPEAKER_01

So we I've just felt, you know, our church has been blessed. Like we've we've grown, and a lot of it has been new believers, you know, new people coming to experience Jesus for the very first time. And I've just had this burden in my heart that I want everyone to know Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I think the best way to know Jesus is to read his word, read his story. And I think the gospel of Mark is it's one of my favorites because it's action-packed. It's it's quick, it's precise, it goes. And so spending the next year plus diving through the stories of Jesus, diving through the miracles, the the preaching, the the calling of Jesus, how he lived his life, what he taught us to do, his sacrifice, his death and resurrection, all the things. And I just believe our church is going to come out on the other side different than it is today.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm looking forward to that. Going through the entire book of the Bible, especially one of my favorites of Mark, and just really getting to know Jesus in a in a new and a fresh way, putting him uh where he belongs, which is front and center every single Sunday. Not that we don't do that already, but putting even more of an emphasis uh on him and what he did and what he proclaimed during his his journey. It's going to be absolutely um amazing. I'm looking forward to it. And just for people to know, like this is we're not completely changing how we preach. Uh it's not like you're showing up and uh it's like a new church, is it?

SPEAKER_01

No, no. So uh I'll get a little nerdy on preaching with some of you guys. Uh some of you, many of you might know this. There's there's kind of two different categories of of preaching. There's what's known as topical preaching, which is you just preach through different topics, you know what I mean? We've we've done a lot of that. And then there's what's called uh expositional preaching, which is just going verse by verse through books of the Bible. A lot of people like both. I I grew up uh with my youth pastor, Pastor Jamie, preaching through book by book, verse by verse. I love that kind of preaching. I listen to a lot of preachers like that. I love uh topical preaching. And I've always found we do a lot of what I call expo topicals, so kind of a mix of both. We talk about topics, but we have a verse for each topic we talk about, we break it down. And I just feel like in this season, we're gonna go through this book of the Bible, but it's not like I'm changing the language I use or the structure that I have. And so rather than sit there and say, What topics do we want to go through, we're gonna say, well, what is the next chunk of scripture talking about? And that's what we're gonna jump into. So um, I think that most people, if you're paying attention, you might know a little bit of difference, but it's not gonna feel like a new church. It's not gonna feel like anything other than just, man, we're excited to see what Jesus says through his entire gospel.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. You definitely don't need to know Greek to show up to a church, you don't have to worry about that. We're not gonna become uh different people overnight in that way. No, I'm looking forward to that. Uh, I like this style because instead of us coming up with topics, we're just letting the word do it. So as the word shares, and I'll tell you right now, we just went through and basically mapped out the next 50 plus weeks uh in this series, and it's amazing seeing all the the topics and the stories and the uh things that are going to be coming out of the out of the series. I'm fired up. I'm really looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. And even the how we're bringing in guest speakers and who we're bringing in is gonna look a little different. You know, we we're working on having a preaching team, like a group of people that preach together. I know, Pastor Kyle, we're gonna be at the church hearing from you a little more frequently. You'll probably be on every four to six weeks preaching. Uh, the whole month of August, you're you're taking the lead. I'm really excited for that. Sounds fun. Leaning into your gift. And uh, some of you remember his name is Alex Sidabaca. He is what is called our next gender rector here in uh the Assemblies of God of Idaho. He's gonna be on our preaching team and speak a handful of times, you know, four or five times a year. Uh, Pastor Jeremy, my old pastor, will be here, you know, a handful of times the year preaching on our preaching team, but that's that's really it. And so we I love having a small core of like-minded, Bible-believing, Jesus-loving, Holy Spirit-filled group of preachers that are gonna go after it. Man, we all love Jesus, we love our families, we have similar mindsets, and we just want people to know the word. And I'm I'm really excited for that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm really excited for people to uh, especially those who are newer to to Christ, to really start getting to know who Jesus is. Because I know there's a lot of illiteracy when it comes down to to scripture in America, uh, especially with this generation, but kind of with all generations, like people grow up hearing about Jesus, but they don't necessarily study the word for themselves. And this will give people an opportunity to not only follow along in their own Bibles, but to be able to study it themselves, to go into a little more depth. We'll do that from time to time here on this podcast as well, and kind of keep with us where it's not necessarily a surprise every week what we are going to speak on, but they are able to keep up and uh kind of mirror a lot of their own personal devotions with what we are talking about at church, which is awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. I also love I love what you said about a lot of people not really knowing the Bible as well as we might think that we do. We live in a culture, and I see it, I don't know about you, Pastor Carl, I see it all over social media. I've had people do it to me, I've just seen it happen to other people where a lot of people have a lot of opinions on who Jesus was and what he said. Yeah. And a lot of times I'll kind of giggle because I'm like, man, it's very clear that many, many people in our world don't actually know who Jesus is. Yeah, don't know the words that he shared. And we have a lot of assumptions, you know what I mean, and a lot of misconceptions. And man, I'm just excited to clear some of that stuff up. I think it's gonna be great.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, a lot of people, especially when you look at politics and you look at uh things like uh gender identity or uh immigration, and they want to take Jesus and they want to fit him into whatever uh ideology or belief that they have, and that's not how it works. Uh, you can't just fit Jesus into what's convenient for you. He he is who he is, and he spoke on what he spoke about.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, I think that's good. Is we all need to come into the place where we humbly lay ourselves before him and say, Jesus, what do you want? How do you want us to live, and not come in with any of our own ideas of what we want Jesus to be or to do? I love that.

SPEAKER_00

So learning more about who Jesus is, that'll be that'll be huge for us. Also his disciples, because uh obviously they are throughout the entire uh book of Mark as well, and we get to kind of dive in on who uh they are and their interactions that they had with Jesus' teaching in that way. Uh it's gonna be fun. There will be topics that uh I I've never preached on, and then there's topics uh like we were just joking about it in um in August. Uh one of the weeks that I'll be preaching is on Jesus walking on water. And it's like, hey, I just did that. But now I get to take it from a different book and uh talk about things that I didn't talk about on Sunday, which will be awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man, I'm really looking forward to it. I really think this is gonna be a powerful year of just diving into the word, diving into Jesus. And I, for one, am really looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's going to be it's going to be great. You know, one thing talking about who Jesus is, um, that I'm really looking forward to is I feel like in our culture specifically, in in the church nowadays, it's been this big, big push to turn Jesus into a friend. And Jesus goes from wearing a crown to wearing a baseball cap. And in our mind, like I remember there was a song back in the day that I honestly wasn't a big fan of called Jesus is a friend of mine, and I wasn't a fan of that as well, because it's like Jesus is my Lord, like Jesus is my savior, and I get the mentality and I understand the um the teaching behind that and making him feel more approachable because obviously he is approachable, but at the same point, I feel like as Americans, we've got to a point that we have lost the reverence of Jesus. And I'm so good. It's excited to focus on that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, that's so good. You're right. We we're very casual with our church and our faith and just Jesus in general. And you know, I don't think there's anything being there's anything wrong with being casual in how we dress or you know what I mean, the language that we might use, but what is wrong is approaching Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, casually.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like he's just another buddy on the couch. Jesus is our friend, but he's also our king. And we need to remember that. I think that's so good.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's going to be awesome to to really just focus in. And uh, you know, we'll be taking some weeks off. Uh like in September, we'll be taking some sections and really talking about the uh the identity of powerhouse, um, talking about the four eyes that we really focus on, um, taking some time talking about kingdom builders in December as well, and you know, the heart that we have to invest back into the kingdom of God, both financially and with our time in that way. Uh, you know, we got next next year, we got Vision Sunday. Who knows what's that is going to bring more campuses, more like who knows what?

SPEAKER_01

Because that's doing all these crazy stuff if you're ahead of me, man. The Lord has not told me what we're doing next. I'm just focused on what we're doing now, but I'm excited for what what God has, and I'm excited for next year, and I'm excited for this year. I think it's gonna be great.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so if you guys want to uh get ahead, uh we are going to start going through uh the book of Mark, and as always, we'll kind of stick to uh the NLT usually, uh, which is just the version that we pick that is easiest uh for this generation and for us in 2026 to under to understand Jesus and understand his teachings and what happened and what didn't. And uh we're just looking forward to it though, getting into this. A it's nice as pastors because we don't have to be uh super creative every few weeks and be like, what are we going to talk about next? And now we're just like, hey God, what's the next section? And just open up our Bibles. It's going to be good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think so. And I think um before we kind of wrap up, I'd love to even ask our audience on the different platforms that they may be listening to, what are some topics you guys would love to hear on this podcast? Because you know, we're preaching through the gospel of Mark um verse by verse, week by week, but I'd also love in this podcast to kind of dive into some deeper things. Yeah, we you you highlighted, Pastor Kyle, that we preach at the NLT and why. I'd love to discuss Bible translations. I kind of geek out about that. Is that something they'd love to hear about? I love to talk about why you don't wear square-toed boots. I think that's a that's a serious topic people love to hear about. Uh, I I know that we all have topics that we're very interested in, and I'd love to have this longer format. I'd also love to ask them what guests would they love to hear on the podcast? You know, even is there a staff member they'd love us to to talk to? Is there a is there a uh just anything really? We just love to hear from you, kind of hear uh where you guys are at, what you'd love to hear more of, what you'd like to hear less of. And we're here to serve you with this podcast and everything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like everything. Well, we started this podcast and kind of said, let's figure it out as we go. And this podcast, you know, if you listen to the first episode, we're like, this is what the podcast is going to be, and feel like it keeps shifting and changing. And uh, that's what all good things do, uh, is they change and they shift. So we're just here like this podcast is is definitely not for me and Ty, just to be able to hear ourselves talk once more during the week. Uh, we both talk more than enough, as it is. We want to be a blessing to everybody who's hearing this. Uh, so if there's topics you're like, this, I would love for you to discuss this. If there's world events going on and uh you want to know, does it have an application in the Bible? Um, does it have an example for us to lead us one way or another? Whatever it may be, yeah, just leave it down in the comments. Uh, you can send us an email uh if you're listening on one of the podcast forms, or if you have us set up on your social media, as far as either YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, we're on all three Powerhouse Church. You can find us there uh and just send us a DM. Let us know what do you want to talk about? And uh, we'd love to go into that because going into Mark, uh, we won't be doing as many recaps per se as we've done in the past. And this will be our opportunity to be a little more creative, to go off the cuff as well. We're also curious like, how long do you want the the podcast to go? Is 15 20 minutes more than enough? Or it would you rather a longer form um like 30 to 40 minute podcast? Like, obviously, we're not gonna be like a Joe Rogan and shoot a three hour podcast. That might be a bit too much for for Ty and I, especially like we're in his basement, we have his kids. Running around upstairs having them like play and and laugh and stuff like that. We'd probably get distracted eventually. But whatever you guys want, we we want to be a blessing to you and we want to uh create something that is both valuable to you and uh also a ministry tool or evangelistic or discipleship tool that you can hold on to. But yeah, get ready. We are going into the book of Mark starting the week after Easter. Pastor Ty, got anything more for us before I wrap it up?

SPEAKER_01

No, I think we covered quite a few topics, and um, I'm just really looking forward to this next season of our church, of this podcast, and of what God's gonna continue to do in our midst. It's gonna be amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. So to all my uh friends, family of Powerhouse who are listening in, we love you guys. To all my friends and supporters in Oregon, we love you all, and we will see you next week.
