Welcome back to the Feel Notes Podcast. We are having a change of scenery today. We're not in the office, but we're in um Leland, Mississippi at a field trial that Luke Noah is doing. So I am your host, Abigail Waller. And Luke, if you introduce yourself and what area you covered.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, thanks, Abigail. My name is Luke Noah. I'm the problem for the state of Mississippi. So what we're looking at here is a field that has had some decently high soybean cyst nematose pressure in the past. So what we wanted to do with this field, we wanted to take it and we wanted to look at different nematocide early season seed treatments to help some of that soybean cyst nematose. I mean suppression.

SPEAKER_00

What is um kind of how did this come up? Was this grower initiated?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so so there's several different products out there now, and you know, there's a mix, uh, a ton of different uh nematocyde C treatments in our portfolio. So what we want to do is we want to help narrow down which ones are the best ones for the growers and get them the right products to be in their field.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so I know you have a lot of or background in cotton. So what are you most excited to see here in this in this trial?

SPEAKER_01

Um, so the most to me the most exciting factor is so tarnished plant bug is the highest yield limiting uh insect in the state of Mississippi. So what we want to look at is suppression of these using different products at different timings. We like to take some of these products out and see how the residuals on them last at when applied at different leaf stages or maybe flowering stages. Uh, we want to just look into those things and I'm most excited about that, as well as looking in to see some different adjuvants because we have a pretty good adju adjuvant portfolio. We want to look into those products and see what works best and paired with this insecticide.

SPEAKER_00

So for for growers who are watching this and planning to come to the field day, um what do you think will have the most impact on their ability to service their customers? Which which rep or trial would be the the one to look for the most?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I would say we're gonna have a we're gonna have a pretty large strip trial and it should be a really good visual. We're gonna have some untreated just to show how bad it can be. And then we're gonna, with those product timings, we should be able to see some difference in, especially lit yield, as well as differences in even a visual difference, hopefully. That's the kind of the goal. We want to be able to show those guys, hey, this is what our agronomy team can do. We want to highlight the agronomy team, we as well as highlight these products. So we want to look into those things. We want to know what works best to put the right product at the right time in our grower's hands.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so we are standing in their corn trial. Tell us a little bit about what the goal is here, what you're wanting to show and share, and then what you're wanting to implement on the back end from what you see out of the trial.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so so with this trial, we we want to highlight the importance of picking the right product and using the right chemistries when it comes to spraying. Such an expensive crop and inputs are so expensive. So, what we wanted to show here, and we know the outcome of the yield will be down, but we want to demonstrate how choosing the wrong uh adjuvant, maybe, or the wrong fungicide, can lead to uh end result that we aren't looking for. So, as you can see here, we're looking at an arrested ear that was applied right prior to tassel using the wrong uh adjuvant. It's a the wrong NIS, non-IX fractate, and then we'll see here is a healthy corn plant, as you would just have regularly applied your fungicide with the right adjuvant.

SPEAKER_00

Gosh. What um like what's your standard here for a seeding rate? Is it is it grower standard probably?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's a grower standard. So 32, 30, 32, 34 is really what we're looking at here in the state of Mississippi.

SPEAKER_00

So gotcha. Yeah, that's great. Um, is there anything else y'all are doing on your corn trials?

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, we're looking at, we have another plot here. It's a small plot replicated, so replication gives you a little better idea of a consistent pattern of data. So, what we're looking at is a phosphorus enhancer product that we want to highlight. It's a good uh product that we've seen in the past, and we are we'll see what the end result says. We're looking at some uh what the product is is a phosphorus releaser in the soul, so it's helped you get your phosphorus levels up better within that plant. That's hopefully the goal of the product. So we're gonna look at it, maybe highlight it, and see some different outcomes from it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, we've given you all a really good sneak peek about what you'll see um in South and Fleetland, Mississippi. When is it?

SPEAKER_01

Uh August, third week of August, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

And uh Luke now here has done a great job of making this happen, taking um requests from growers of of what they're wanting to see, how we can best service them. That's what makes us stand apart as Greenpoint. We're here for the grower truly. Um so y'all work for calendars, just make sure to come, you'll receive an email, um, make sure to sign up in the RSVP form and uh just get ready to be educated.
