Hello, welcome back to another episode of Post Round Podcast with your two local struggling professional golfers. Uh Barry here, and of course, the uh some would say better professional golfer, but I'm gonna say different professional golfer, Mr. Double, all the way from almost Wicklow, but just just just Kings onto Dublin. Right on the border. How's how's it going?
SPEAKER_00Good, thanks, Barry. Um, yeah, very much struggling golfers, I think, at the moment. Um so maybe some would say a lot to talk about, we probably say very little to talk about, but yeah, there you go. Good to see you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, selective uh amnesia, I think we call it some of the some some when people ask about our golf game. How's your golf game? Yeah, good. Tell us about it. No, no, no. So where where we find you at home at the minute, what's uh what's happening? Where where was your most recent trip or and then your next those?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so at home, been at home for a while, it's kind of it's it's open qualifying season, and very much open season for me. Just take shots of me. Um yeah, so I um is at the island for open qualifying there last Monday.
SPEAKER_01Um I believe you were looking good three 15 or 16 holes, really.
SPEAKER_00I I was, yeah, yeah, she was a sore one. Um it was on it's actually it always kind of happens around my birthday. Um it was all my birthday as well. My I'm very old, 28. Uh, so it was a fun little fun little day out. Where where would you rather be on your birthday? Um definitely in the island.
SPEAKER_01Your ass kicked in the island.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it was funny, it was like it was playing very different. It was like opposite to the prevailing wind. So if anyone knows the island, um like usually when when we played it in qualifying and stuff, you sort of you're chipping a four iron or a three iron down the first, and you kind of you might have a short iron left in. Um but for for the day that was in it, it was it was into wind off the first, and I pumped three wood, and like you could even hit driver down there. So it was it was playing very different to normal. Um was good, was was great on the front line because a lot of the holes that are usually into wind and and tough like driver holes. You could sort of cut corners and just kind of bomb it down and have a sort of wedge into a quite a few holes. You might have a mid-iron left in, and then the back nine was a little bit trickier. But um, yeah, look, I I played I played solid enough. I was I was one under through one understanding on fifteen. And if anyone knows the 15th, it's a it's a big enough par five. Um a good chance of birdie, but you can you have to hit sort of two good shots to get in and around the green. Um and and that's what I did. I hit hit driver three wood um to about 15 feet and unfortunately walked away with a three-put par, which is which it in my opinion is the worst thing in golf. So I would have that would have even if I even if I birdied that hole, I would have got to two under with a chance of you know making another birdie or two coming in, which would have definitely had put me in contention. Look, I knew like the island's a tough golf course. Um the underpower usually kind of gets you through around there, but I knew you sort of had to shoot upwards of two under to give yourself a chance, if not three or four.
SPEAKER_01Um three was a playoff, was it four but three?
SPEAKER_00Two actually was a playoff. Two was a playoff, sorry. Yeah, um so yeah, like if it was David Howard, uh Leal Jordan Bowles Jordan Jordan, yeah. He yeah, he shot three, didn't he? He got in, which was absolutely fantastic for him. Um so yeah, like look, I I had a chance to go to two under, if not three. Um, unfortunately gave him away one under part to part three, and then like 17's a tough hole in general. Um playing into wind was very was very tight. I just pulled my T-shot, ended up on the literally on the side of a hill, had to hack out, then it ended up being a double bogey, and then hit my drive down 18, hit a bad approach at plugged in the bunker, knew I wasn't getting out, didn't get out. Yeah, I think I I three putted the last for like a triple or something. So I lost I lost five five shots or something. Like, yeah, it was it was unfortunate. Um look, it it's not it's not even one of those things where you can come top five or or top ten and make a bit of cash out of it, you're either in or you're not. So it was very much very much a sprint, and and that's that's how we played it. But yeah, look, for the most part, like I'm playing good golf, I'm 90% there. Um I'm look disappointed not to get to at least final qualifying, which took place um over the last couple of days. Um, and great to see well, uh, one Irish lag get through, but great great to see a few of the Irish boys playing. So yeah, look, it uh it is what it is. Um we we keep pushing. So yeah, look, I'm home for a bit. Um figure out what the second half of the season holds, and I'll probably get out on the clutch tour again in a few weeks' time. Brilliant.
SPEAKER_01And uh yeah, speaking of final call upon yesterday, some some good stories you had. Obviously, the Bryan brothers over, um, as I mentioned, Jordan Keene uh unfortunately didn't make it through. Uh David Howard did, uh Lee Maybomb didn't. But uh, did you see some of the other stuff? Uh Sergio Garcia blaming his uh dodgy lasagna between the the two rounds. The poor fella, he just had a bad lunch. Poor thing. Two? I'm not an expert, a food expert in any way. But I'm thinking if I'm playing 18 holes and then heading back over another 18 holes and I'm going in for a quick snack, I'm probably not choosing the cheesy, creamy pasta dish that's there that could have been sitting there for hours. Was that what it was? Was it a lasagna? Lasagna, yeah. Lasagna during the break and said he felt like thrown up and was nauseous for the whole second round. Now it's Sergio, he probably wasn't. He's just looking for an excuse because he is Sergio, he is the king of the Momags, um, has been for a long time. But um that is a new it's a new loaf him though, isn't it? I didn't think he had that in him. If if just a bit of advice, if you are going for a 36-0 round the golf and there's an hour less, I think they have less than an hour between between the rounds. Be careful what you pick. Like you don't want stodgy, heavy, creamy, cheesy stuff that's gonna sit in your stomach. You want you know, a bit of protein, bit of slow releasing carbs, bit of fat, you know, some some fluids, stuff like that, you know. Where remember, I remember one guy on here on on other podcasts once mentioning he had like nine protein shakes a day or something. I also do not recommend that, or you will be between holes, you'll be looking for hopefully a little outhouse over bush or something like that because your stomach will not be good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, where is that guy now?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, I don't know. But yeah, it was funny with Sergio and then poor Wesley Bryan missed uh eight eight foot for parental last where they got him into the playoff. That's what it was. Sure, he had was it Peter Finch on the bag? Peter Finch in the bag, Grant was Grant walking around. His brother was there is playing as well. But apparently they looked in great spirits, they were like between rounds, picture with anyone smiling. Like, I mean they have to. That's their that's their main job, is their YouTube and their their presence out there in the world. Or did that new uh YGT, the golf truck they're starting up, is gonna kick off soon. And um, but yeah, no, it's like yeah, fair play to them. I mean, you put it out there. Do you ever want to come to an Ireland come to Ireland and take on us two pros against them two pros? They will probably destroy us, but I mean we'll give it a go. We could do a scramble or something, that might be uh a good show. Yeah, you you you get onto the power five and two, and I'll take over the button. Yeah, there we go.
SPEAKER_00That's the one too soon, too soon for that. Too soon. Oh Jesus, yeah. So who do we have? We've got the the Irish boys, well, the I say the the local or the amateurs, or shall I say, semi-amateur. We've got David Howard and Stuart Grattan. Stuart through winning the amateurs.
SPEAKER_01Winning the British arm, yeah. That's obviously the this side of the water, he would say the biggest amateur title in the world. It's possibly the second biggest after, but what what a result and what a long day for him. Uh yeah, he went down, he was three down through nine, and I think after eighteen was one down, then got up and just stayed. He was three up at three to play, lost sixteen, lost seventeen. I was like, oh no. He held on for 18, but yeah, goes to Burkdale, goes to the Masters, goes to the US Open next year. Um pretty spectacular and prize. There's a been a lot online and it's literally very, very mixed. A lot of people are saying, Well done, fair play, Suey. Uh Sue was an amateur for almost seven years. Umate, but he he's done okay. He won a couple of things, he won some prize money. Should he be allowed to come back in and and beat up on these guys that made the decision to stay amateur, that have the nine to five jobs, that um are trying to improve their game. I'm really I'm not just sitting on the fence, I'm really, really not sure where I am. It goes day by day with me, I think. I can see both sides.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I think a lot of people that know him, and I like I don't know him personally, but I've I've got friends who do, and you know, they're saying like he he's worked hard for it, like he he does deserve what what he's accomplished. Um like look he he was a bit like myself where like he he played on the clutch tour and uh for like for quite a few events and yeah, like he wouldn't he won a clutch event, I think, right? I I think he I think he might have won one. Yeah, like he like it a good player, absolutely. Um I think I think the controversy um if there is any is that is the the length of time that he sat out. So it it used to be, I think no matter even if you were Rory McElroy, if if you decided to turn back amateur, I think you had to wait like a year or two or two years or some two years. Uh whereas now they base it off the level or the standard you are you were money.
SPEAKER_01So I mean I it'll take about 30 seconds for me to go back from program.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but like exactly, or like it would take Rory, I don't know, ten years if he decided whatever. But um yeah, I think I think Stewie's uh uh apparently it was it was a bit it was a bit too short for people's liking and I think the time four months or something. I think it was four months and I think he I think he took that during the offseason or like I I don't I don't know the details but something along the lines of that where he basically kind of just went from from uh from tour pro back to amateur and kind of jumped straight in and like look I know I know how much I've changed as a be just living in in the pro world and like it's so different to to the amateur circuit. So you can you can see how going from a pro world back to an amateur you'll have reaped the rewards of just living in the environment and just you know you train better, you you eat better, you f you focus, like you're focusing for your livelihood. So to kind of move back into the amateur game, it could free you up a little bit. And look, that's potentially what happened, you know. He he goes and has a great year and he plays uh Walker Cup and now he's gone and done this, and I think by winning this has also given him a good chance of uh getting a DP card, DP World Tour card.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and he'll play the Walker Cup again this year, which is in La Hinge, which is it'd be great to have an Irish player there, like but um yeah, yeah, um yeah, not a bad couple of years he's had playing Worker Cup in Cyprus and in the World Cup Worker Cup in La Hinch. Um yeah, he's gets two DP World Starts, I think, doesn't he?
SPEAKER_00But as an am, isn't it? As as an amateur, but there's uh apparently there's this new thing um that I only really that I only found out um when lads were talking about it about him saying he's he's got a good chance of winning it. It's it's something if you're over pathways and you get a certain point. Yeah, it's like if you're I think it's if you're over a certain age, if you're inside the top 20 amateur um not already exempt or or whatever it is, you you get the opportunity to get a a a DP World tour card. So um yeah, look, it it would be if he gets the opportunity to do it, it's a big decision for him and his family. I know his wife is is expecting, or she just had a another another yeah, that's that there you go. So whether he decides to make that leap back to pro life, then you know, fair play. Um the DP World. It's certainly a way of turning.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if he takes a DP World Hall card, goes on, you know, finishes outside at 150, drops back down and comes back to the amateur game. Surely that's not okay.
SPEAKER_00Well, you're probably gone by the rules, you might just have to wait a little bit longer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But like you know, one year pro six months not a year and a half amateur, one year pro. If they kept doing that, it would probably be in bad taste, let's say.
SPEAKER_00I I think so. Like I think my my honest opinion on it all is that and look, the the the year he has had as a or say two years he's had as an amateur, it are incredible and it could just be um just a br a brilliant run. But to say someone could be pro, be you know, I'd say mid-level, like nothing not winning week in, week out, not missing cuts either, um, but then just kind of turn it back amateur, obviously playing really good golf, and then getting the opportunity to to leapfrog where you were as a pro. If that does happen, you might see a hell of a lot more people or players in in the pro circuit doing that, which I wouldn't like to see, purely just for the amateurs who are coming up, or the amateurs who are the who are the 20-year AMs who just enjoy playing the north, south, east, west. I think you don't want people who have played pro for a few years to flood the system. Or like I wouldn't see myself, no matter what happens, turning back amateur and using using the potential pathways to benefit myself to get back into the pro level.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you look on the other side of the water, you've theater Stewart, Stuart Hoggettstadt, who's you know, a 20-year amateur and has won so many amateur events and is always there, thereabouts. Walker Cup Mainstay, he he's just his life, he's just happy being a really good amateur golfer. Yeah. He's not looking for more. Like so, like he's had some starts in in professional events, but as an amateur. So um, yeah, I mean the money's there for amateurs these days with the um the NIL deals, like the name in his likeness deals and stuff like that. So but what do we could potentially be doing? It sort of takes away definitely, I think it maybe takes away a bit from the amateur game and the the accolades of winning one of the Irish amateur majors or anything like that. But anyway, what he done on that day was spectacular. Um really good 36 holes. I watched most of it and he yeah, I said he was down early, then he was 303 to play, and when he lost 60 and 70, I thought, oh no. But uh he hit a great chip into 18 and had a nice put. His short game to the honest was ridiculous all day. He was getting up and down from everywhere. Like it was like Victor Abuse on against Jason Day in a match play years ago where he's behind cactuses and everything, or cact try, sorry. Um but he uh yeah, but fair play to him. And yeah, I don't know what's theory, but I know it's on as well. And by all by all accounts, he's he's a he's a gentleman, like a nice fella, and that and I said twins on the way, he's a father of twins. And you know his life's gonna change either way over the next the next year or so with with two little babies at home and and the young lady has at the minute and seeing him running down the fairways and going over and giving him high fives and all that was was nice. So um yeah, best of luck to him and best of luck to him in in Borkdale in a couple of weeks, and along with David. David's brilliant, the story of David. Anyone who doesn't know look it up. Uh cystic fibrosis uh suffer um like what what that what that young lad has gone through and to be where he is now is quite spectacular. Um wasn't expected to the average lifespan of someone with with his uh a series virus. So he has is around the age he is now and he just has fought it, and you know, he's had to withdraw from a couple of events when it when it gets when it flares up really bad, but that's just brilliant. Like so um, yeah, wish him wish him all the luck in the world. I hope he does spectacular and work there and make it caught or just make a name for himself to get out there and then see what he does from there. It's a great uh great shop window for them. So if they like if David does do well there, does he go down the pro route or does he try and get on that team in the inch as well, you know? So yeah, no, it'd be exciting to watch the doing.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And from what I've heard, birthday, especially that 18th hole, they made a few changes and it's gonna be a brute. So be I'll be looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, it'd be great, great view, and it's great. Getting up at 7 a.m. on a Thursday and seeing the golf on the same Friday, and then yeah, sitting there on Sunday afternoon, usually when it's nice outside, saying, No, I'm not leaving this sitting room and watching this, or even like the Thursday, Friday going out for an A round of golf and going back to the clubhouse afterwards and having a bit of growing and watching on the TV is always good as well. Um it is, it is fun.
SPEAKER_00I think especially like with the with the Scottish Open the week before as well. I think they're a brilliant two weeks and see lovely one in.
SPEAKER_01I just wish the Scottish Open was on a proper links course and not bloody renaissance.
SPEAKER_00True. That's true. Like it it's a perfect course for especially the the superstars, or at least the Americans who come over and just enjoy a bit of easy links golf and then stroll over to the open and kind of have a fun, a fun few weeks on this side of the pond. But like, yeah, the course could maybe do with a bit of changing, but in like those two weeks where the weather's usually usually quite nice and it's a bit of fun, lightheartedness or the first week, first week and a half anyway, and then I get serious. But yeah, no, like hopefully, hopefully there's it's a bit of a test. Um not just the Scottish Open, but the But Bert Dell itself. You know, we've had the US Open was a bit meh, the US PGA was a bit meh, the Masters was like roary, yeah, great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think as with a as with a lot of things that come out of America that they think are the best in the world because they're American, and have they simplified the US Open a bit too much? Like Wyndham Clark for all his stuff is for me is not a top five player in the world. I don't I struggle to put him as a top ten or fifteen player in the world. Um he's wild off the tee. He's uh hit or miss putter, like he just um and he's won two of the last four US opens, it doesn't add up.
SPEAKER_00No. No, it really doesn't. Like he he's very much like he yeah, he bombs it off the tee, it could go anywhere, but if he has a good week, like was it was it Canada? Did he win in Canada? Or no, it was the week before that, was it? Um but like he just blew everyone away. Like so when he's on, he's a great player, but same with everyone else. But like I I don't think anyone likes him.
SPEAKER_01Like, do you know do you do you know one person that actually likes him? No, and I mean he has had his issues, he has anger and depression issues, and he's worked with um good therapists and sort of come back from that, like but like a US Open, a British Open, if you missed the fairway, you used to get punished. And is it you know the technology, the distance, whatever, it's just there was no punishment in that US Open look.
SPEAKER_00I think I think the worry is sorry, I'm gonna jump in because I think I think the worry is from the officials or the referees is that if they make it tough and say if if it act if the court averages I don't know, for example, overpower, they just know all the top players are gonna come in and give out and say this is ridiculous, and like I know I'm not gonna play next year if you do this, and they they force their hands and and and make it easy. Um, like you heard was it was a GMAC, was it the first round or two in uh aeronaminc, and he was saying like the pin positions were he thinks were set for the wrong days just because they were simplifying a day where normally it's it's a it's a tougher pin position or whatever. So I think their hands are forced, especially with the live stuff going on, like there's so much politics in golf at the moment, and especially I'd say coming out of the top 10 boys, if not top 20, but they have so much say where they get listened to. And if they don't, then they just give out and complain about everything as opposed to having this ruling committee that just say, look, this is the week that that it is, or this is this is the day that we've set out. You have to deal with it like Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And like four run there won it, but it was sort of it was one on Thursday, Friday, and it was just sort of holding on like that. Yeah. Over like two, three over winning an open. That was just brilliant, man. Even like Rory and Bryson showdown. Run under Bryson won that on that. It was so good. Like I know Rory missed a couple of shortcuts, but they couldn't really attack the course to try and get those shots back because of the course. And that's what made it like gripping in the end because it was two mistakes for Rory that that ended up giving it to Bryson and a great up and down on the last for Bryson. But yeah, I just don't know. Look at Wyndham's gonna keep picking off the US opens, golf's going the wrong way for me.
SPEAKER_00Well that's true. You see where Bryson as well, like they're two very similar players. Like they're they're good when they're on, but like it's quite rare that they are on and they're they're awful. Like Bryson missing like Mistaku, the Masters this year. I forget where he got on in the rest of the majors this year. Has he missed all of them? Yeah, like he's had a horrendous year. Now I think maybe the the Masters last year was a bit of a sliding doors moment or whatever you want to call it, where if he if he won that, maybe he would have jumped on, but he hasn't done anything since getting his feelings hurt because Macker didn't say hi to him. But like talk to him to chat about life walking fairwell. Yeah, like what do you expect? Yeah, I don't know. I it's I think it it's a lot of it's a lot of politics, especially the high end of golf. Um and yeah, we'll we'll we'll see how long it lasts. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. We still love it, we'll still fucking tune in. Yeah, oh absolutely, yeah, yeah. We still fucking go out and try and play and whatever, but yeah. Uh let's move on to my own golf. Uh absolutely short and sweet, it's shit. Um so yeah, next question. I know um yeah, this is actually it's good. Let's talk, let's talk it out because this might actually happen to people. I I think I'm in that part where I've changed how I play to not make mistakes rather than play the game. And I'm just I've said it to myself this out of the year, I've said it to other people, and I said, no, I'm gonna go back to the way I used like I can't seem to switch that side of my brain off that stands on a hole and saying let's not get a fucking double here. But that means I'm either having to get up and down for power and sort of taking a bogey, or having the two puff 20 feet for pair and not being happy with that, but not being pissed off and I made a mess of it, and I'm really in that. And if people, you know, people 18 handicap was up for you for you equate that to to bogeying all 18 holes. Me, I'm trying to power all 18 holes. And I just think I think it's the wrong way to play as as an amateur. I hated playing that way, I hated see but seeing people play that way, the whole, you know, protecting your handicap, making sure you get 36 points in a stable for comp and it wasn't me, and it's what made me better, and I just I'm just seem to be stuck right in the middle there of like, do I go for it or not? But then I'm also not shooting level power with 18 paras, so it's not like it's it's not working, and I can seem to go back to just saying screw it, let's go. So that's where my head is a thing in it. Welcome to the inside of my brain.
SPEAKER_00So well, it it's funny you mention that because that's kind of been how I've been playing nearly since I turned pro. Um you sort of yeah, you look at a tricky par four and you go and I don't know, there's water left and OB right. I could hit driver and have a nine iron left in, or I could chip an iron down and have like long iron after T and long iron into the green, and it's you know, instead of just having one tricky shot and hitting hitting driver, you're choosing to hit two tricky shots, you know, a long iron after T and then another long iron in, and yeah, you're hoping to get up and down for power. Um for me you could do that and make power, but it you're not going to win a tournament that way. And for for the for the like for the likes of amateurs or yourself like playing playing the PGA events, like you're kind of putting yourself in that window where you might even if you shoot a couple under, it's a couple under, but it's no more than that. And like you might even be your window could be two under and two over. I've had to deal with that recently, talking to my coach Um Gavin Lonnie and my psychologist Lee Crombleholm. That's something we have actually tapped in literally very recently, and I'd I'd say that's why it's helped it helped me play it at the at Open Qualifying. It was kind of go back to basics, go back to your natural golf, because I'd I'd be quite an aggressive player, but I'd be playing to not make bogey, not make double, you know, go out and shoot level par and you're you're inside the top 20 after day one, you and you can go from there, but you're not allowing yourself to shoot the low scores or potentially shoot the low scores. Um what what I would say is when you're going out and practicing, go for nearly everything. Yeah. Um and like whether whether yeah, it's yourself Barry and you you want to go for a tight flag that you wouldn't you you mightn't go and go for in competition, but do it in practice to force yourself to do it. Or if it's a if it's an 18 handicap and they drive it 200 yards, but there's a there's a ditch at 190, and usually you lay up it especially in practice, just go for everything. Um because you it you free yourself up more and when you free yourself up, you'd be surprised at how much easier the the game actually is. You don't stress over again back in practice, you don't stress over five footers or even two footers or a chip over a bunker. If you do, then you need to practice a little bit more that specific shot. But if you free yourself up in practice, then you'll go out in the golf course and say, Why why can't I do this? Or you won't even question yourself. It's just a case of right, I'm just gonna play my shot here or or go for it.
SPEAKER_01Brilliant. Please send me send me the advice for this uh psychological help. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, like do you think do you think that would make sense for you or hold back?
SPEAKER_01No, no, go like I literally the two the night before I played my last PJ event, I just played six holes with a couple of lands five pairs in the body or something, you know, stress-free enough, and then go the next day and it's good power on the four sitted tight driving hole. And the second where a lot of people are like lay up, lay up, layer was like, No, I like my driver. It drove to the middle of the fairway, par five and walked off of the bodie. Next door drove to the middle of the fairway, car five and walked off of the boat. And literally done the hardest part is to hit the fair and the two of them halls.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I done that and then sort of switched off. Now I was like, right, I'm here now, so I definitely can't make a mess of this and end up, you know, leaving myself, you know. I think both of them I left myself like six four for power and just yeah, I was sort of annoyed that I had six four power, so I probably wasn't concentrating on them, which is yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which is fair, but like you do you're actually you're doing the hard part, which probably most people aren't doing, and and you are hitting driver when others are saying you shouldn't, you know, and if you step up and do it, even if you don't do it, build on the confidence that you are confident in yourself to to play that shot and go for it. And look, like doesn't mean you got like doesn't mean I'll go out and shoot 18 under every round or 59 or whatever, or like I hit every shot perfect, but in practice, if you're going for certain shots and you don't pull them off, and you've say you've a tricky up and down, then that's your shot. And once again, if you get up and down from there, that's confidence builder, or at least you know for next time not to miss there, and you take note and and you build on, and especially for members who do play the same course week in, week out, and most likely hit it into the same places week in, week out, just because of you know, distance and always sort of fade or whatever, they they know roughly where they're going to be hitting the ball. So you know, play to that advantage and yeah, just go for things when you're practicing. There's no harm, you don't have a scorecard in your hand. And yeah, and if you do have a scorecard in your hand, it's not the end of the world. Jesus, if you if you make bogey or hit it, make a double or whatever, especially if you do one early, it's the best time to have a bad hole because you can make it back. You know, the round's not over at the end of the day. You're gonna go in and watch well, England pull away and get another, you know, shitty win, but you know, in the clubhouse afterwards, but but but that's all that's all it is, you know what I mean? Like I'm playing stress golf because you know, you're playing for your livelihood. There's not many of me doing that, but the amateurs out there just go out and enjoy it, even if you have hit a shit shot or whatever, just go have fun with your mates, and that's literally all that matters. If you have a great week, great. If you don't, there's always next week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, hit your shot, find your ball, hit it again. Um, yeah, it's a it's a sport, it's a hobby, it's supposed to be enjoyable. So um let's all let's all get back to enjoying this game of golf. Um, if anyone has any stories, good or bad, about their weekend golf games, maybe they should get in contact with us, Tom. Don't you think how they do that? Or have any opinion of what we just talked about? Was it complete garbage or does it all make sense?
SPEAKER_00Or our Instagram uh post round pod at postround pod or else our gmail postround podcast at gmail.com. Just about got that out. No drill. Absolutely. Uh but yeah, hit us up, talk about anything, talk about yeah, any con there's a few controversies going on in the world of of golf at the moment. We probably won't mention them now, but if anyone knows what we're talking about, hit us up and yeah, let us know what you know, all that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_01I don't think there's a chance of a certain player being suspended before Brookdale. Um, I think that's just clickbait.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't I don't think so. A lot of players a lot of players just um fall down the stairs or or trip and hurt their ankle. That's usually how they do when you sit out for six months.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so there has been some controversies over the years with uh people hurting themselves skiing and having to be forced to take six months off when it might not have been the white snow that they were um getting in trouble on. It might have been some other white snow, but again, it was never proven, and it's it's we're we're not we're not nothing's based on facts in this podcast, it's just their opinions, allegedly. Allegedly, and then you can't get in trouble. Anyone that wants to chat to us, get in touch. We love chatting. Speaking of chatting, uh hopefully over the next few weeks, through months, we're gonna have a few guests on with us uh from the professional and and high level amateur um neck of the golf world, and it'll be brilliant with after um yeah, after the open and a few of the things that are happening. Um we'll get through a few events ourselves, hopefully get to the ladies Irish Open and the Gents Irish Open. Um, maybe the Irish Challenger and the Hotel Planner might get down to that in Cadean Castle. Um what else happening in the world?
SPEAKER_00Nothing much. I think I think we've covered it. Um yeah, I think we've got a few possible interviews um hidden up our sleeve over the next few weeks or a couple of months or so. So we'll we'll see where that goes. And yeah, I I'm possibly caddying in the Ladies Irish um open uh with Billie Joe if if she gets in, hopefully she does. So yeah, that that's um that's to be decided. Um hopefully she has a nice few weeks. I know she's in Belgium this week. Uh I was planning on caddying for her this week. She got in last minute, and unfortunately, when you when you get in last minute and and you get the call last minute, you look at the the flights and the accommodation the very last minute. Um and Belgium is quite expensive. So very frustrating. It would have been great to go out and caddy. Um obviously I helped her out, uh, helped carry her bag last year at the Ladies Irish, and it was good fun. Um yeah, we work work well together. So hopefully, yeah, hopefully she qualifies again this year for the Ladies Irish, and and we can do a bit of magic out there. But yeah, other than that, yeah, we'll keep going. Hopefully, uh look forward to a good open and a big Wyndham Clark victory.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, come on, Wyndham, we love you. Uh post round pod. That's us. Enjoy your golf, people, and talk to you soon.
