SPEAKER_08

Oh my god, that's what you get for taking a whole thing of water right before you go right on. Welcome to the 2 a.m. crew. Um excuse my voice. Sunday was my son's birthday, and uh it's kind of like all raspy and stuff. I'm your host, Rick H. We're gonna power to this thing. The greatest beard podcasting, joined by the greatest heron podcasting, my co-host, the one and only Jason. Wow. Jason, how have you been since we last uh I feel like I'm still celebrating the championship? I cannot stop looking for next merch for a second try to try it again, but literally we just haven't the Jim Carrey reference was too much for the microphone. He can hear me, but I can't hear him. He's gonna try. How about now? There we go, ladies and gentlemen.

SPEAKER_07

The greatest heroin podcasting. Well, nominated for 20 20, I was gonna say 2016, 2026 Land Podcast Awards, Jason and Rick A.

SPEAKER_06

Rick Hero, you are my hero.

SPEAKER_08

Um I can be your hero, baby.

SPEAKER_06

Uh I can be your hero, baby.

SPEAKER_08

How have you been, Jason? Um since I've been.

SPEAKER_06

Uh honestly, I've been good.

SPEAKER_08

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

I've been good. I've been.

SPEAKER_08

But you guys gotta get cut of some slack, like we it's been we're right, we'll be rusty for this. Yeah, maybe so.

SPEAKER_06

But go ahead. But it's okay. But to answer your question, I'm doing well. Um I really have to thank once again the New York Knickerbockers for allowing us to be still in this high that we're still feeling right now as fans. 53 years in the making. I never thought this was happening in my lifetime. I don't know if you feel the same way, but I the the real reason that I bring them up is because they are able to wash away whatever apoplectic feeling I would have about my my baseball team right now. I know you feel the same about your baseball team. Oh, mine was worse. The world cup is going good. Um, I'm still trying to figure out soccer's not exactly my forte. You know, when we when when Colombia beat Portugal, it's like it's crazy. We won and we advanced, but the score was nil-nil. Like we didn't we didn't lose, so that that that allowed us to advance. And and then afterwards, I was listening to Don Hahn Rosenberg, and I'm trying to figure out the whole clock system with with soccer as well. I don't get it, but either way, I say all that to say that I've been doing pretty good. I'm in a good headspace, I'm still very much on cloud nine with because of the Knicks, and I'm hoping that our baseball teams get it together sooner than later, but it's not looking good.

SPEAKER_08

Well, uh, a couple things. Um I share the exact same feelings, a little bit worse for me because the Mets are a complete and utter disaster. But if you tell me uh you have an awful Mets season, but you get a Knicks championship, I'll sign up any day of the week for that. Uh 53 years, I'm gonna continue to celebrate. I got a question about celebrating this championship. A soccer. So the world club. The world club, the world cup um has been fantastic so far. FIFA extended it to 48 teams, they made it larger, kind of diluted it, it's had. But uh the upsets have been fantastic. Um the first round in the FIFA World Cup is the group stage where there's four teams on each group, and it goes also by a point system. So if Columbia scores four goals, they got four points, similar to hockey. Uh the time, uh I I can see how certain people would get confused. Anytime there's stoppage, the reps will clock the time and they'll add it to the end. Um, that's why you'll get that once they go past 90, then you'll get the plus six or plus seven or whatever the number may be. Um but it's been good, man. Like uh I feel like if you watch hockey, there's some of the rules very similar, like the offsides and stuff like that. Um the stars are on full display for this World Cup. Uh some of the sub well to me, some of these teams weren't surprising. But the matchups have been incredible. Uh, the the one today, Mexico and uh Ecuador should be a fun matchup. Um Argentina's gonna face probably one of those teams that snuck up on a lot of people, Capo Verde. Uh we saw the Netherlands get knocked out yesterday, and they were one of those uh top-tier teams. Uh also Germany, which every World Cup is a strong team. Um, but I'm rooting for all the Latino teams, uh, essentially. Yeah. Um, let me finish what let's finish the Knicks thing real quick. I'll be celebrating my Knicks championship up until there is a brand new NBA championship. So I I wanted to ask you, when do you stop?

SPEAKER_06

That's a very good question. Um until I mean it sounds so foolish for me to say that until my one of my other teams win one because you know the Yankees went to the World Series two years ago and lost. Uh the Devils are still in a rebuild right now, I'm still in a high off the Knicks, and the Jets are just the Jets. I mean, I'm I'm not expecting them to make anything. Who knows if even Aaron Glenn is going to be our head coach next year? So uh so I guess the best way that I could describe it is if um two two ways. One, if Columbia miraculously ends up winning the entire World Cup, or two, that the New York Knicks uh don't are no longer the defending champions of the world of the NBA.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so you're not one of these fans where as soon as the banner's up, it's a whole new season and you're locked into that season.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I I think it's actually the opposite. I mean, as soon as the banner is up, I'm like, okay, we got it, it's good. Now let's try to go out and get another one. Because that's the kind of that's the kind of attitude that I think Jalen Brunson and the rest of the crew would have as well.

SPEAKER_08

Well, the team should be having that attitude, and I'm okay with it. But since I waited so long for this thing, um I really I'm just gonna cherish. I mean, think about it. If we would have had this our way and it would have been a sweep and we would have won game three, imagine how crazy it would have been if it would have finished on the OG tipping. Um this was just one of those magical postseason runs, and I compared it to the 07 Giants before. But um, before we get back to the Knicks, I I want to finish up. We were in the middle of the World Cup and we bounced back and forth. So you had a point on the uh World Cup that you were gonna mention.

SPEAKER_06

Uh so uh I actually wanted to ask you because um so I I know that col uh that Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic they don't have uh soccer teams, you know. They don't have uh a representation in the World Cup. DR does. DR does. Okay, I wasn't aware of that. They just didn't qualify. Um Costa Rica didn't qualify either, and I'm half Costa Rica.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, oh my god, and I was over there. Their jersey is badass.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

So they they normally do this year, they didn't get there. But the R has gotten a lot better in the last couple years. Well, it looks like somebody is willing to join us. And this is I I I don't is it is this one of your guests?

SPEAKER_06

Is this a surprise guest? Kind of. You don't you do know this gentleman, you met him at American Whiskey. This is the Puerto Rican Timothy Chalamet.

SPEAKER_08

He's uh let's bring him in here, man. Thank you. By the way, he congratulated us on the uh nomination, which I thought was. Yes, yes. Really appreciate that. We we appreciate it, my brother. How do you it's good that you're here. You know why? Because now I get to ask you, how do you feel, man? Because we were going nuts with that first game. Oh, did we lose him? No, I think we're having some technical problems real quick. We'll try to bring him back in here.

SPEAKER_06

Uh, what were you stating? Uh so um, like I know a couple of guys that are Puerto Rican, and it seems like they're just going for the low-hanging fruit for lack of a better term, of Argentina because of Messi and so on and so forth.

SPEAKER_08

So he's he's all right.

SPEAKER_06

So I guess I I guess do you have a rooting interest? Or like are you going for Argentina or you are you going for Brazil? Like one of these low-hanging fruit teams, for lack of a better term, because it seems like for people that are either casual World Cup fans or watchers, or their team is not qualified, I mean, it can go either way.

SPEAKER_08

So this is what makes football so great, right? There's so many great leagues and it's a world sport. Um I'm a FC Barcelona guy, right? Uh obviously Messi spent I think around 14 years with the club. Uh, him, Neymar, and Suarez. I still feel like that combination was insane. And I had a great, a lot of great memories watching them go up against Real when Real had Ronaldo, Marcelo, like that group. So yes, I want to see Messi win, but there's some squads that I really like I like. I don't have 18 per se because the R is not good at the sport. Um and I would be lying to you if I told you I'm you know I'm going full force for I I just would like to see Messi. This is his last one. Um, I would like to see him get another one. I would like that. Uh, I'm also not opposed to seeing uh one of these underdog teams win the whole goddamn thing. Um and we're seeing some teams come into this, and they're like the Netherlands was eliminated. Although Morocco's a pretty good team. There's some good teams that people don't know about that are in this tournament.

SPEAKER_06

Um a lot of people also rooted for Mbappe because he became like a superstar of the last World Cup.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, but the thing with Mbappe is is this like again, I'm a Barcelona guy. He's a real guy now. Like, I respect his game, and I think the kid could be uh he has an opportunity to be better than Messi uh when it's all said and done, but he's gotta be as consistent as as Leonel Messi. Uh let's try to bring Timothy Chalamet in here, minus uh there you guys are minus the genre sister. Here we go, here we go.

SPEAKER_06

So boys, if this is if Timothy Salome was a reggaeton star.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we we uh we met at the watch party at American uh whiskey. We had a great time. He had a fire as John, it was John Starks, right?

SPEAKER_00

Because that's my yeah, John Starks Camo, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

A camel jersey, which I thought was pretty cool. Uh that it was a fire picture, was insane.

SPEAKER_06

It's a fire picture taken by none other than you, Rick H. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I I got a bunch of flicks. Like Jason was like, yo, are you gonna? I just have him download. We did some man on the street videos out there. Uh put most of those up, but um, how did you feel about this run, man?

SPEAKER_02

Yo, honestly, man, I never seen anything like it, man. I'm gonna be honest with you, because I'm a Giant fan, I'm a Meth fan, Knicks fan, Ranger fan. I mean, the Giants had a pretty cool run back in like 09, but I never saw something like this. Like, and obviously I have money towards it because before the season started, I put money down for the Knicks to win a championship. I had some faith, I had like a weird feeling that they're gonna win it all this year, but I'm not gonna tell you that I thought it was they were gonna win it in this fashion. Like, total dominance and honestly, just super exciting just to watch it and enjoy that run with my dad as well. Uh, because you know, my dad being a diehard Knicks fan, he never really he didn't think he was gonna see it again. You know, he would always be super pessimistic, like uh, we're not gonna win. And then, like, I'll never forget when we came back in uh in game four when Brunson hit the three over Wemby, my dad went crazy. And I never seen him like that because then he started believing, you know, he started this actually might be it, you know.

SPEAKER_08

Well, but usually usually in the finals, when we were already in the final, he didn't so the two sweeps didn't he's just so used to disappointment.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. He was super hard on hard on the Knicks. He's just like, uh yeah, the Knicks, the Spurs are gonna come back and win. I'm like that. Let's calm down. You know, it's a different team. Because I'm gonna be honest with you, game two, Wemby misses that shot. Like back in the day, as a Knicks fan, that shit, that shit goes in. You know, and as soon as that didn't go in, I'm like, this is a different, this is a different feel, this is a different year. Um, but yeah, no, just an unbelievable run. And you know, I have it have it tatted on me, and then I got another tat.

SPEAKER_06

You got tatted already? Yeah, I got tatted.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Was it before the chip or after the chip?

SPEAKER_00

So I have one already here.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And and then I put one um on my leg. Uh let me see if I can show you guys in the gap right here.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, that's gorgeous. So if you go, if ladies and gentlemen, if you watch the side talk NYC uh video of of the parade and you see the the trophy tattoo, that's this gentleman's right here, Mr. Other Chalomet.

SPEAKER_01

The other Chalamet, yeah. Well, yeah, no, absolute absolute crazy run. But yeah, continue.

SPEAKER_08

What um what was your favorite part? Let's let's let's take the finals out. For me, I had disbelief in the fact that we were running through teams. Yeah, I still can't believe the way they like Brunson didn't play a fourth quarter in closeout games. Yeah, no, it was crazy. That's wild. Um, so I I kind of was waiting for the other shoe to drop, but uh the Cavs, the way we handled the Cavs, I was like, mmm, this is interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. Um I think the key, though, like the whole playoffs, really, to be honest. Obviously, he knew Jalen was gonna get his, OG was gonna get his, town's gonna get his. It was really bridges, you know, people really count him out the whole year because of the whole five picks, fucked them picks respectfully. Um but at the end of the day, I always have faith in my always tell my friends, like he's a playoff riser, like he showed it last year, and even though he was really struggling in the beginning of season and during the season, uh, you just knew he was gonna, you know, he was gonna, you know, make it count in the playoffs. And as soon as he started playing well, like you just knew this team was gonna go far.

SPEAKER_08

Consistently well, and people forget um OG got hurt, and and and it was because of Mikkel, we didn't miss a step.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly, exactly. And people forget, you know, the close-out game. My man, my man Jalen had the 40 45 points. People forget Bridges had what 18 or 20 points that game. Like the man was balling, you know. So whenever whenever OG didn't have it, yeah, yeah, go for it, go for it.

SPEAKER_06

Uh and these two questions are actually for both of you gentlemen. Um, we actually we got I know one I know the answer with one word, Rick ready, because we talked about it on the previous episode, but I'll just ask it anyway. So in game one, I think it was game one where Jalen goes down with an injury and then he's going back to the locker room. Do those old pessimistic, oh my god, here we go again, next feelings start coming up again, as we've always done. Uh, and luckily that wasn't the case, but in that moment, did you feel like did you feel like your father initially always feels?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So you know what it was? I'm not gonna lie, was I a little nervous, yeah, but I just feel like Jalen Brunson's tough as nails, so I had a feeling he was gonna come back. Um, but the one thing I'll say about being a Knicks fan for so long and seeing the teams that we had with like Alkman, Jared Jeffries, Lou Amundsen, you know, just going along the line. We we had a we had a we had a deep team this year, so like even if Brunson might have been gone this game, like I just had the feeling that we could still do it because you know we we arguably have the best scoring center in the league besides you know Jokic and couple of these times. And then you got a guy like OG who's like the Walmart version of uh Kawhi Leonard, you know, he's just a robot and he does everything well. Um, but yeah, I wasn't really too nervous because it was game one. Obviously, if he was gonna be out longer than that, it might have been a little nerve-wracking, but the team was just so deep, and I really trusted Mike Brown this year. Um, because I I just thought he was he was a complete coach. He was hungry because you know, he was counted out after he got fired from the king. So I just really trusted him, to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, we we did see them lose twice to Atlanta, right? By one point, yeah. When they were down 2-1, any nerves sit in there?

SPEAKER_02

I wasn't nervous at all. I thought the I thought the Hawks were honestly just like they were, you know, just hot at the right time, but they were gonna fizz out. Like, I wasn't really worried about them. So they have some young talent, yes, but their their best player was CJ McCollum, and he's a great player, but he's he's like 34. You know, he was he's aging. Dyson Daniels can't shoot. Kuminga's some guy that's still working on his game. Like, I wasn't really, really scared. Jalen Johnson's up and coming, obviously, but um, I just feel like we were an overall better team. So I wasn't really too nervous. Um, but just crazy how we were down 2-1, and then after everything changed, like whatever meeting they had, they they really you know fueled to the fire, and then we're locked in after that.

SPEAKER_08

Uh so to answer Jason's question, uh I was not nervous. Uh I knew it was it looked bad, but I I knew that he he would come back. I either they would tape it up, brace it up, but I knew he would he would come back to that game. It had it been bad, he would have been assisted off the court. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, um, and and yeah, I just I I saw a slight limp. Um over again. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's terrible.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that's not even mentioned. I'm the Jeff, I'm the Jeff fan in this crew, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_02

So man. Yeah, that's a bummer. That's a team you might never see win a championship, but so so go to the second one.

SPEAKER_06

So, anyway, and so the second question, and this is a little bit more relevant. So obviously the New York Knicks are world champions, and now all of a sudden, throughout the NBA, you're seeing Giannis going to Miami, Kawhi went back to Toronto, LeBron might be going to Golden State, and John Moranches got traded to the Trailblazers, and other all these crazy moves are happening in the NBA. It seems like this is like a whole chain reaction that is caused by the Knicks winning the championship, and it seems like the whole NBA is in shambles now because they're trying to scramble and making sure that you know their golden gooses and their big stars and everything are still relevant compared to what's going on with the Knicks. I feel like the Knicks have really got the NBA shaking in their boots, uh pissing in their pants, that kind of thing. I don't I I like I don't I don't know how to really uh really describe it, but uh the the the Knicks winning the championship really did something to the NBA that they got a lot of these drastic models. Like I've never seen some of these things happen to this magnitude it. An offseason for the NBA so early on. So I want to get your take on how you feel like this whole chain reaction of the Knicks winning the championship has set off just everything that's going on right now in free agents.

SPEAKER_02

So I think the Knicks destroyed the NBA. That's why they're trying to, because the Celtics know they can't win, so they're still trying to get rid of Jalen Brown. They're gonna have to Pistons, they're like breaking it up. Durance doesn't want to be there anymore. Um and honestly, the shit, the trade that shocked me the most is Kawhi. I wasn't really shocked about John Morant because I knew he was getting traded over there. But uh not traded to Blazers, just getting traded in general. But it's just honestly, I do agree with you. Like this is really hasn't happened in a while where teams are really shaking things up, but it's because then the way the Knicks play basketball. I mean, they have five guys on the floor that can give you 20 a night, they have a deep bench. And look, for example, look, Landier Schemet could have got paid a shit ton of money more, and he took a discount because the culture is there. So now teams are realizing like these guys don't really care about the money, they they just want to they want to build a dynasty. Exactly. So I do think it's definitely a chain reaction because of the Knicks um and way they dominated because whether people want to talk about it or not, and I know it's a hot take, the Knicks team this year is arguably a top five team of all time, and I don't care what anyone says, um, because of the point differential.

SPEAKER_08

The numbers, the numbers they definitely the numbers don't lie.

SPEAKER_02

So whether the people want to disagree or not, oh, they played the Hawks and whatever. But let's be honest, the last three uh people that won the championship, they didn't play a seed higher than the fourth seed, I believe. I forgot what the numbers were. I saw it in like uh the Greenberg show.

SPEAKER_08

Um the OKC run was in was very Yeah, no, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

But everyone wants to act like, oh, that was a legendary run and blah blah blah. But the Knicks played the second seed in the West. I'm pretty right, the Spurs were the second seed in the West?

SPEAKER_08

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like let's not forget about that. Like, I know they're a young team, but like people people try to discredit the Knicks, and I just think it's so funny because like whether they dominated the Hawks or the Cavs, those are those are good teams. They're in the NBA for a reason, they're in the playoffs for a reason. So no one's an easy, easy opponent at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_08

So they broke those teams.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_08

100%. The Knicks run is being compared to the Warriors run, where Warriors got 15. Um, some of these trades are pretty wild. I I did not know about the Morant trade until you just said it. I also forgot Randall got traded to the Nets.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Randall got traded to the Nets.

SPEAKER_08

The Lamello ball trade is is very uh surprising to me. Uh Nasreed is a name that's being tossed around New York to replace Mitchell Robinson. So uh maybe he gets traded.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he might get flipped. Isaiah Stewart just got traded away from Detroit. So they lost their big piece of the street.

SPEAKER_08

Miles Bridge just went to the Suns.

SPEAKER_02

Tim Hardaway went to the Heat. That's they got a shooter over there now. Yeah, but Tim Hardaway Jr. Yeah, Junior and they got they got Wiggins. I think they got Wiggins back. I think he operated.

SPEAKER_08

They resigned Wiggins. So the thing with the the Heat trade was they had to dismantle that team completely.

SPEAKER_02

Honestly, I don't I don't I didn't like that trade at all. Um, and I just being a basketball fan, I love it. Like the spacing, the space, yeah, for us, but the spacing is terrible over there.

SPEAKER_08

He's not going to he's not going to Boston. I loved it. I loved it. I mean that too.

SPEAKER_02

I know and the space, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I know the spacing is garbage over there. I know some Heat fans that are not happy that Tyler Harrow was in the trade.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, he was a he was a fan favorite. I mean, they're not gonna be a good one. Yeah, they got Giannis, but yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But the spacing is garbage.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but you know what it you know how it is with us fandoms. Like we're all fans here of our teams and stuff like that. We and and especially as Knicks fans, we are very keen to this where we love our homegrown guys. I mean, as as solid as Mitchell Robinson is, I think what adds a little bit more nuance is the fact that he's a homegrown neck.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and he was through he's he started it through the struggle. Like, you know, he won a championship and he was here for all eight eight years of like the bad, the good, and the ugly, you know. So a hundred percent. And you know, the only way we get him, honestly, is if Kat takes a pay cut, which I'm hoping he does, and I think he will.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know if I think Kat does think I think Kat takes the pay cut, but I don't think I don't think Mitch is coming back at all. Uh I know I would be I would be shocked.

SPEAKER_06

I'd be shocked that I just think that Mitch is gonna find a real big paycheck elsewhere, whether it's in Brooklyn or it's gonna be similar to the iHeart thing.

SPEAKER_02

So, how would you guys feel about Kvon Kvon Looney? Because I would I would like I wouldn't mind Kayvon Looney as a replacement.

SPEAKER_08

I just would he's a champion, yeah, and he rebounds that can rebound, defend, and score. The offense needs to improve a little bit better than Mitch's, and also the free throw shooting would be good.

SPEAKER_02

So Looney, I think, yeah, I think I think Looney's a better free throw shooter, definitely, and I think he's definitely a little bit better at post moves, and he does stay healthy. So, like it wouldn't be a terrible move. Um, Nas Reed would be a great move, honestly. But uh, that's the move I'm intrigued by.

SPEAKER_08

If we I I'll tell you this much, Kat is definitely gonna follow Brunson's lead.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

He's gonna take and and the way they're I love the fact they brought Jose back. I love the fact that they got Shannon back. I uh we gotta see what they do with Clarkson.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if I don't think he stays, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_08

We'll see. And then I I think that you could get a good veteran veteran guy that wants to win a title that'll take a league minimum and be on the bench. Maybe Kelly Kelly Uber.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe would you guys bring back uh precious Ochua because he's gonna be out there as well.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, he's not he's just who it is. He's a great, he's a good good role player, he's just undersized.

SPEAKER_08

He's a good defender, he's a good undersized defender. He he defended over speed pretty well. Yeah, I I wouldn't mind having them.

SPEAKER_06

Would you try to find a way to get Dante DiVincenzo back in the fold? A thousand percent.

SPEAKER_02

A hundred percent. I mean, I don't know how it's gonna happen, but I would definitely do that in a heartbeat. Um, and he would honestly be cheap because he's you know he is coming back from an Achilles injury, right? Um, but it would be an ideal thing to get get the band back together, honestly. Um, because the only reason we had to give him up is we had to we had to you know give up something to get something, so I I totally understood that move, but yeah, yeah, I would love that. I would love that 100%. I mean it it hurts to see him go. Oh, yeah. I mean, listen, I loved Randall, what he did for the team, but yeah, the one that hurt the most was Dante 100. Yeah, hands down.

SPEAKER_08

That's like the uh OG trade. People were more created on uh Emmanuel quickly going up there. Yeah, I mean I completely forgot about both of them already because I had an OG with that.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, yeah, everyone called everyone called Knicks fans crazy because they like that, you know, OG got paid big money, but fuck you as a steal.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, you so now um other Chalamet, uh, I've gotten it, I got a chance to ask a whole bunch of Knicks fans this question, and I feel like I've gotten it's really down the middle. Like you're either on one side or the other, and I know how much this team means to you. So let's go back in time a little bit. Uh what were your feelings like when Thibodeau was initially fired? Fast forward to now, where the Knicks are champions.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so I was in the middle as well. Like, I was kind of like, I understand the trick, I understand the firing. Um, but it also had to be done. Like, uh, I felt like we were never gonna win a championship with Thibodeau, and uh, he's a great coach, but he's never gonna get over the edge because of the way he's so old school and he doesn't adapt to the new the new era of basketball, you know, playing the same six, seven guys and running him to the ground. Um, so I was mad about it, but I was kind of happy to get Mike Brown. Like I know a lot of people had iffy thoughts about Mike Brown when we when we signed him. Yeah, but I had I don't I had a weird feeling. I I thought he would have been good because I know he does play a nice 10 or 11 man rotation. Um, but yeah, I was in the middle of it. You know, I was I was upset about it, but I understood it. You needed a change at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_06

Right. And one thing that I will give Mike credit, uh Mike Brown credit over Thibodeau is I don't know if Thibodeau would have put in Jose Alvarado in the same time as Jalen to take some of the to take some of the weight off of him. I feel like if Thibodeau was still coach of this team, Alvarado would still be on the bench and Jalen would have to be really pushing in the work. It would still be in rotation.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, just like when um he kind of you know he kind of delayed quitting quitting Grimes' career. Like, I didn't want to let go of that guy, but he had to get he had to get away from us because whenever he missed one shot, he was on the bench. Like Thibodeau was very strict with the young guys and and the guys that you know didn't get many minutes. So I totally agree with that. Jose Alvarado Pai would have just been on the bench the whole time, and Jalen Brunson would have been ran, you know, ran to the ground playing playing 40 minutes a night. So um I think with Mike Brown, he saw that the depth that we had and and he understood that he had many pieces. Like to have Landry Shamet, a guy that was going to be out of the league, having career highs and balling out like that, he had faith in him. He had faith in Deuce. I know Deuce had a bad finals, and a lot of Knicks fans, some Knicks fans want him gone, which I still think is crazy because he's a good player. I don't think he I don't think he recovered from his hamstring injury. And I think during the Hawks series he re-irritated it. I don't know if you remember that one play where he he got stepped on. But he's he's a good player at the end of the day. He plays defense and he's a homegrown guy as well. So like I don't know, people and he and he's on he's on a team-friendly deal. So why would you trade and get rid of a guy that's on a team-friendly deal that can get he also can get paid way more as well?

SPEAKER_06

So now, Rick, if there's any other question you want to ask, otherwise, I think we could probably pivot to the bets. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_08

No, uh, I I'm uh I'm good. I'm good. I'm good on my uh Knicks.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, wait, I have one more.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah, go for it. So I just asked Jason this I'm not gonna stop celebrating this championship until a new NBA champion is crowned. Some Knicks fans are gonna stop when the banner goes up. Mikel Bridges already said the captain already is locked in for getting another one. Yeah. How long are you gonna celebrate this Knicks victory?

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna be honest. I mean, I'll be crazy. I would celebrate this shit forever, but but uh, but honestly, as soon as I guess as soon as um as soon as the playoffs start for next year, I feel like as soon as the playoffs start, like then it's like time to log back in, and now it's reality. Like, are we gonna go back to back or is it gonna be a crown of new champion? But I think I think to at least the at least the playoffs, I'll enjoy it. I mean, I'm definitely gonna celebrate it with all the friends my friends that are not Knicks fans that are gonna continuously talk shit. But like, guess what? We got a championship, but but yeah, basically, I think to the playoffs.

SPEAKER_08

Now, uh, I'm gonna ask this question purely because he's gonna be asked all off season long, and it already has been asked, and Stephen A. Smith put his foot in his mouth and said if the Knicks wouldn't have won, he would have begged LeBron to come. Do you want Kevin Durant or LeBron on this squad?

SPEAKER_02

So I definitely don't want Kevin Durant. I'm not a big LeBron fan, and obviously he did his dirt prior because he didn't want to come to New York because he was too much of a baby. But um, if he took a vet minimum, I want to see why not, because that would be kind of a cool starting five, and you put Josh Hart on the bench, or you can, you know, switch it up a little bit. Um, but Josh Hart should be starting. It's gonna be tough, but I wouldn't mind seeing LeBron on a team, but I would do without him if we didn't get him. Like it's not like a big deal. Um, but I think that move really would kind of stir up the NBA a little bit.

SPEAKER_08

Uh I understand the Durant. I don't want any soft players that have never won anything. Oh, yeah, no.

SPEAKER_01

He's a toxic player.

SPEAKER_08

He's can't the only time in my life I wanted Bron to be a Nick was in 2010. I moved on from that years ago.

SPEAKER_06

I feel that. I feel that. Go ahead, Jace. For me, I don't want I definitely don't want Durant, that's for sure. Uh he even let it be known that he's there's no love lost between him and the Knicks without a comment that he made. You know, it could be another 53 years. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, but as far as LeBron, um you know, I've I have never been the biggest LeBron fan, just in general. Uh but I guess just to like you know keep it short and sweet here, I just think that if you put a guy like LeBron with his clout and with his star power and all that stuff, I think it kind of messes up the recipe that we already developed now. It's almost like the best example that I can give is like, okay, one of my favorite desserts is tele leche. And then there's also something called cuatro leche where they add dulce de leche. And it's just like it's way too sweet, and it just kind of ruins it for me, and it's like not needed. So basically, LeBron James would be dulce de leche into tele when it's a perfect recipe recipe that doesn't touch. And I feel like with because I don't care what anybody says, LeBron is an ego maniac. He's proved it over time and time again. And I think that with his cockiness and his ego, making attractions. Oh, yeah, whether it's detected or not. So I I just for that simple reason, along with other stuff that I didn't mention, I do not want to see LeBron in a Knicks jersey ever. Ever.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you just kind of changed my opinion. I do agree with there. He's he's gonna cause a lot of distractions at the end of the day. I mean, he had Luka Dotchus on his team, and he doesn't even he's not even happy about that, just because he's not the main guy, he's not the main guy no more, so he's he's like, I'm done with this, you know. So I get that 100%. I definitely understand that.

SPEAKER_08

And also just the way he goes about business, you know. Today he oh, yeah, through his agent, he informs the Lakers who have bent over backwards for him. Uh, that oh, I'm not rich. Drafted his son, all of that stuff. So oh, yeah, to keep his bum ass son, yeah. You know what's gonna happen? Um, Golden State's gonna call the Lakers and they'll say, Hey, we're gonna give you a Steph Curry autographed jersey and some peanuts for behind the chance junior. So he could join his dad here on the squad. Yeah. And uh he's gonna be a uh a warrior as well. Watch.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, 100%. There's no doubt. Because as soon as he leaves the Lakers, they're gonna want to cut him. So yeah, he's gonna have to go where he goes.

SPEAKER_06

Right. And it doesn't surprise me though. And most likely they joined the same team in order to try to win a ring to their the to the resume. I I mean I don't I don't necessarily think so because I don't think KD will ever go back to the Warriors. Like, no, no. What I'm saying is that KD had to get his rings when he went to the Warriors, and it seems like a join that same team that KD.

SPEAKER_08

They looked like a team that you know, that they were underdogs and uh that they uh didn't look like a dynasty, and he he felt like going over there would kind of like put them in the title imagin. And I was liked about the U smoking, bro. They won before you got there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they already had a dynasty, they won without you after with against the Celtics.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, and they were and they were homegrown guys. That's one of the things I loved about the Warriors in the beginning when they built that dynasty. Like they didn't go out and get like some kind of superstar, they didn't try to build a big three like Miami or anything like that. They built it from down up, and also kind of like Thibodeau, they had a very respectable coach in Mark Johnson, who I think was a pivotal role in changing that culture and go to the city.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. I mean, I also can see LeBron going to Miami. I have a weird feeling.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, you never know what Patrick with Pat Riley. You know, Pat Riley is just known to have tricks up his sleeve, and yeah, you know, he might he might even try to convince LeBron and Kyrie to join him in South Beach.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know. He's either going to Cleveland or he's going to the Warriors. I mean, yeah, I can see Cleveland. I can see if you beat them, you join them. So I'm willing to bet any money tomorrow morning or afternoon, you'll know that LeBron is going to Golden State.

SPEAKER_06

All right, now let's pivot into the other disaster that's going on in the year right now, which is our baseball teams.

SPEAKER_08

Which team is a bigger disappointment right now? The Mets, second highest payroll.

SPEAKER_06

It's it's it's yeah, the the pay the payroll, the fact that you guys didn't even make the playoffs this year, and you're certainly not gonna make it this year, the way that you guys are doing things wrong, like with the run prevention. You before you fire the manager, you actually fire his coaching staff.

SPEAKER_08

What are you talking about? We got rid of Peter Lonzo to get some run prevention, and then we sign a couple guys to play different positions.

SPEAKER_01

I got a lot of opinions on this shit because I I could talk for days about this.

SPEAKER_08

My my president is a genius, okay? My president of baseball. Then I'm gonna go sign Bachet Williams 44 million dollars with a bunch of opt-outs, and and you know, I'm gonna bring him in here and he's gonna play third. Never played in his life, but he's playing third venture. And he's my ace, he's my Garrett Cole. Now the thing is so with Kodai, right? I I gotta say, I gotta soft spot for him. I think they have mismanaged him, right? Yeah, yeah. When he got first got hurt, uh, because Kodai, I think, is a lifestyle pitcher when he's straight up. Oh, yeah, no. Yeah, he's got good stuff. They just have mismanaged him, and then you neuter the manager, you fire his entire coaching staff before the season starts. Uh you essentially make him the dead man walking, and then you fire him when it's already too late in the season.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

So you can survive one more year. Uh I'm not at the point where I want people to f I you know, I'm past firing David Stern. I'm at the point where I want Cohen to sell the team. So that's where I'm at. Hold on, let's not get too crazy.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I think I'm gonna be honest with you, I can I think the problem starts, and I'm gonna be honest with you, right after the 2024 season. Um, because you know, you you have this magical run with the OMG thing and Jose Anglesias and all that. And then you know, obviously you you you take you take the Dodgers in six games. You almost get to the World Series, you know, you don't have the pitching to beat them. And what do you do next year? You obviously get you get Jon Soto, which is great. That's I would do that a million times over. Cohen got soda, yeah. But yeah, exactly. It was not Stearns, but your number one pitching sign-up signings were sign back Mania, which I get it, he had a good year. That was okay. Gribble Canning, which played well, but you don't get any aces. And what was the problem and why you didn't get to the World Series in 2024? Starting pitch. So I knew that we weren't gonna do anything in 2025. Like Soto was great, we made some good moves, but Stearns hasn't made a single good move except maybe Clay Holmes, and I'm gonna be honest with you.

SPEAKER_08

Clay Holmes and Weaver. I'll give you a exact okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'll say that. I'll give you, I'll give you Weaver. But besides that, all the top prospects, Benjam, H, those are all Epler. And then and then Epler, Epler, Epler got you know scapegoated, and the Mendy thing, I wasn't a big Mendy guy, but I'll say one thing. He was dealt a bad hand and he fired. And it's like, I understand it, scapegoat, whatever. But now I'm starting to think, like, was David Stearns, did he have somebody in the in Milwaukee that was like, you know, he was taking all the credit for and they're kind of you know helping him out? Because why are they still a powerhouse and we're we're we're where are we at right now?

SPEAKER_06

This is a good idea. I mean, I brought this up with the I brought this up when the baseball aficionado came on, where you know Milwaukee, they they they they let go of David Stearns, he goes to the Mets and they haven't skipped the beat at all. If anything, you can make the argument that they've been better since Stearns has been gone.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say that. Absolutely, they've been even better without him.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know what it is? You bring a small market guy in, and he has a big market, he has all the money in the world, like he has all the resources. And the one thing that pissed me off as a Met fan is letting go of Pete Alonzo. Like, I was okay with Bernie Nemo. Like, all right, that sucked. I'm a setting like the Marcus Simeon trade, but I get it. Defense, run prevention. McNeil, I can be without, does suck as well.

SPEAKER_08

The fans were kind of over Jeff already.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, but Pete Alonzo was the big thing because guess what? His defense wasn't the greatest. I get that. But he he he scooped the ball super well, he played 162 games, and he gave you 35 to 40 homers with 120 RBIs. You knew you were gonna get from him. And look what he's doing in Baltimore. He's doing the exact same thing, and you didn't want to give him the money, and you signed Jorge Polanco, which I never liked that sign to begin with, because he's a one one-man wonder. He was a steroid user and he was on a contract here. Never liked it. I wasn't mad about the Bobachette signing because if Bobochette's available, you sign Bobachette. Did I understand moving him to a different position? Absolutely not, because again, you want run prevention, and our defense looks like the bad news bears. Like I'm I feel like I'm watching a new movie of the bad news bears.

SPEAKER_06

So and you know, with the whole Pete Alonso thing, what I think was messed up is, and I'm and I know I'm not even a Mets fan, I'm a Yankee fan. Yeah, but with the whole met with the whole Pete Alonso thing, I think that not only was it a mistake to let him go, but the fact that he already knew for an entire season that he was already walking one foot out the door. Yes, exactly. The only reason he stayed one more year with the Mets was because of Stevie Cohen. Exactly. If it was up to David Stearns, he'd be in a second season with Baltimore right now.

SPEAKER_08

Exactly. Here's a couple things right here that uh he didn't hit on in Stearns. Uh he got lucky with his 2024 season, but he got super lucky. Yeah, because my eye and several window.

SPEAKER_06

He also got lucky with Edwin Dwell Diaz, who's out for the season.

SPEAKER_08

So, yeah. And he's the other guy that we missed. So, first of all, you let Sevy go, and instead of Sevy, you bring in Frankie Montas.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that was terrible. Yes. Yeah. That was probably one of the things that we're gonna shot.

SPEAKER_08

Uh next up, next up, you guys are gonna get Anthony Volpe. Sevi at least at least would have been serviceable and we would have given you innings. Uh, you you brought up the kids too late last year, um, which you should have brought up earlier. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you traded Brandon Spro. Now go look at Brandon Spro's numbers. Um and uh yeah, you basically got rid of Pete Alonzo when one of the things the Mets need to do is establish themselves as a franchise with lifetime players. Yes, David Wright is one because of the other. I was gonna say that Ed Crane Pool is the other. Could have been your all-time home run, RBI, whatever type of guy. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_06

And what is Tom Siever Siever?

SPEAKER_08

But you got rid of Siever. So, like, this is the problem with this organization to begin with. And the the deal that had Pete gotten you know 275, 290, whatever, which he was offered two years ago from the Mets, I would have been okay with it. But he got a contract that you also offered. Uh, what's the guy in Philly that he had to tell you? Kyle Schwarber. Yeah, you offered Schwarber Schwarber the exact money. Yeah, you're good accepted. So if you're offering that money to Schwarber, why don't you give it a Phoebe and he's a DH. That's crazy. And I uh the the the radio they're saying the stadium's gonna be empty. Met fans, this is what I want you to do. I want you to scrape up every ticket for that game. I want you not to wear Met's jerseys, I want you to show up in Alonzo. Well, you can wear an Alonzo Met jersey. I want you to show up in Oreo's jerseys, yeah. Pete's number, and yeah, I agree. And give me all the fucking love in the world, yeah. And then I want you to abandon that stadium and force Cohen to do something, right? The problem with the team right now is you gave way too much leeway to this guy. You are afraid to admit that you made a mistake because you were frightening with him for two seasons, and you just just stand, and then he's bashing fans on X.

SPEAKER_01

Like I saw, yeah, I saw.

SPEAKER_08

So I'm over our owner, right? I'm already over him. He has all the money in the world. He came in here stating he was a fan. If you're really a fan and you really cared so much, he did improve some things and he made some signs. I get that, yeah. Yeah, but my blood would have been boiling as an owner when we lost 12 games.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, exactly. And especially if you're a fan, 100%. I mean, I don't know how his blood wasn't boiling when we lost Alonzo. At less, I understand he wanted to take a step back. He didn't want to overstep Stearns because he wanted to give him a chance to do his own moves. But again, like you said, homegrown guy. The guy plays 162 every day, every year, never gets hurt, puts up consistent numbers, and you need a guy, the you know, the backup Juan Soto. And who do we bring in behind him? Luis Robert? Listen, that was a risky, that was a low-risk move. I would have done it a thousand times because Acunia wasn't going to be anything.

SPEAKER_08

No, that was a good trade.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but where is Luis Robert? He's on the IL, like he always is.

SPEAKER_08

It's still it's still a good trade. No, 100%.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, a good trade, 100%. I like that trade.

SPEAKER_08

The Freddie trade, which I like Freddie Peralta. Yeah. I don't think Freddie's a guy that can handle New York.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. That's why I didn't like that trade. I didn't like that trade. I didn't like the Devin Williams move because he can't handle New York. I mean, he punched the he broke his hand in in Milwaukee when he lost the playoff game. Like, that's a head case. And he couldn't do it in New York. Yeah. Sonny Graham's no hit, you guys. But anyway. Keyword almost. Keyword almost. Anyway. But anyway. But anyway, but yeah, no, I mean, I totally understand that. But this the Peter did the Peter Lonzo thing really just it always boils my, you know, I always get so super tight when I talk about it. Um, because again, Kyle Sober got the same amount of money, 33 years old, is only playing DH, and you couldn't give that guy his money. And it's and again, you like you said, he stayed one more year, and he was our best player arguably last year besides Soto.

SPEAKER_08

He was the best he was the best at risk. Yeah. The reason Cohen went out was people forget two weeks be a week before uh P got resigned, yeah. Soto came out and said, Yo, I signed you because you told me Alonzo would be behind you.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yeah. Now, Chalamet, I already know how Rick feels about this, but I'm gonna ask you. Yeah, go for it. Get get inside Juan Soto's head. Do you think he's having any buyer's remorse of coming to Queens?

SPEAKER_02

No. So I'm gonna be honest. I'm I'm I'm gonna be I'm gonna be straight, like non-biased. I don't think so, because I actually do believe that what he said when he said that, because obviously, you know, it was like what in total with the money, it was like maybe 30 million more or something like that, because it was like, you know, some of the extra money. I truly believe he saw the Yankees and the Mets, and obviously the Mets are having a terrible year this year because what the GM did. But if you look at the Mets and Yankees right now, I'm just going from a baseball standpoint. The Yankees are aging, they have a lot of bad contracts, a lot of their top prospects haven't panned out. The Mets have one of the best farm systems in baseball, they have a lot of young talent. They have a guy like Francisco Lindor. Obviously, you guys got Aaron Judge, who doesn't perform in the playoffs much, but whatever. We won't get into that. But the fact is, he's sold the young talent, and he did say that. He's like, the one thing that kind of made me want to go to the Mets is they got a got a young talent, a very good farm system, and he does like playing at City Field. Like his career stats, he bats like 350 at city field. He loves the way I guess the battery is and everything.

SPEAKER_08

So I don't think with bench.

SPEAKER_02

And what I was gonna say too is the Yankees in the Mets, there's more of a Latin culture in New York, in New York Mets. Like that's why then yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, so then you also have to count the money because there was at one point the Yankees offered more Mets, more money, and he's considering that until until Cohen reads.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, obviously, the money always plays a factor, but I don't think it's like the main thing. I don't think he has biomorse because it was three things.

SPEAKER_08

It was exactly what he said. It was the fact that uh he saw the money's one, yeah. He said it's two, and then also uh he soda was the last guy to leave the dugout on that world series, and um if if he won with the Yanks, it wouldn't be his title. He would be sharing it with the judge. You're right. I I fully think he won in his own thing, and I and I I I think he looked at the chance to play with Lindor and and he saw what Lindor just did for the Mets. He's like, Man, this is this could be a nice little because Lindor, he's not young, but he's in a nice age for a baseball player. Yeah, um, no one expected that Lindor's ego would kind of like block. I think they since he's come back from the injury, you see him and and Soto talking a lot more, which is a positive sign. Yeah, uh, but he definitely does not have I know he likes Cohen a lot. Especially yes, Cohen has money, but he likes Cohen, he likes the atmosphere, he likes the fact that the Mets uh were like, yo, if you sign with us, this is your squad, this is your team. Last year, it was the last year of Lindor being the face of that franchise.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I think Lindor is fine with that because I know, I know, 100%. I mean, and I do think, like I said, he loves he's a he's a leader to those young guys, like he loves Ewing and Bench. Like he he's a leader with them, and you know, he might be that quiet guy, and everyone you know made those speculations that him and Lindor didn't get along because Lindor has more of a outgoing personality, he's more about his business. But people forget, like they were good friends when when Soto was in Washington. When when Lindor got hit by the pitch in the head, who was the first person to go to Lindor? It was Juan Soto. So, like, I understand the Puerto Rican Dominican competition, I get all that, but that's they also compliment each other very well.

SPEAKER_08

Exactly, exactly. Lindor is the hold the guys accountable in your face leader that Soto isn't.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_08

Once they get that thing together, and I and I made a comparison to Arod and Jeter before I was gonna say that. Yep, I was gonna say that before Juan even put on a Mets uniform. I said if they figure this thing out earlier than Alex and Jeter did, they can be a lethal combination. Yeah, it's been awful this year, but I think if you see signs of those two starting to work as a cohesive unit this season, then I think it's it's the best thing that could have happened for the Mets because it got really bad before it could get really good. And you kind of right now, as a Mets fan, you want this shit to go completely rock bottom.

SPEAKER_02

So there could be exactly, exactly, exactly. And I mean, I think that it's good for us too because now you know that Bo Bichette is probably gonna opt into his contract because he's not getting that money next year, no uh more money than that. So you have another year with Bo Bachet, and maybe you make better moves next year. Um, because again, it was a complete disaster. And like I'm so over Beatty and Vientos, I don't know about you, I'm so sick of them. Um, the only person that I still have faith in because he's just super young at like 24 is is Alvarez, because even when he's healthy, he plays very good, but he just can't stay healthy. And he reminds me of a guy like Travis Darno.

SPEAKER_08

Mauricio as well. I'm over Mauricio.

SPEAKER_02

Even about Mauricio, though, Mauricio doesn't really have he hasn't really had the chance, but I do understand it. I mean, I'm not against that. But Alvarez scares me for one reason. We end up letting him go, he's gonna end up like Travis Darnell. He's gonna stay healthy somewhere else. He's gonna be a great player elsewhere because he can't stay healthy every time. He almost got hurt yesterday when Mauricio hit him in the batter's box. I'm like, we can't make this shit up. It's like the most bet shit ever.

SPEAKER_08

You keep uh you keep Alvi, you keep Lindor, you keep Soto, and you keep uh Jenna Ewing, yeah, and and Mc McLean, and everybody else is expendable.

SPEAKER_02

Well, Bachet's probably gonna stay, obviously.

SPEAKER_08

You can't really get rid of that, but and and I'll keep I will keep both because you you do need to bat. And I said this when we signed Bachet. I I said I'm not gonna put expectations on him the first year.

SPEAKER_02

He's finally getting hot now. He's finally figuring it out a little bit.

SPEAKER_08

If he turns it around midway, that means he's getting used to being in New York. If he doesn't, he can't play in New York.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and he is right now, he's turning it up a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

Final Mets question for me. Who do you want to be the manager next? Beltran or Cora?

SPEAKER_02

So this is a biased thing for me because you know it's funny. I was actually gonna say it. My favorite player of all time, and I wanted to be like him was Carlos Beltron. That's my favorite player of all time. So, like, you know what's funny? I usually go to 10, 12 Mets games a year. I haven't I've only been to one this year, and it was a free ticket, and I'm not even going because I don't want to pay money to watch that garbage. I watch it at home. Um, but I just actually bought my ticket. Yeah, I just bought my ticket to the uh Beltron retirement because I have to see that. Like, that's my that's my favorite player of all time. So I would love to see him as manager. I feel like he got a bad rap because of the whole cheating thing because people forget the Astros threw that man onto the bus and they made him the scapegoat. Because guess what? That man played 20 games that year, and you're gonna put the full blame on him. I thought that was unfair.

SPEAKER_06

I I agree with that, but the only uh the only thing that I would add with the whole Cora thing is that he has won a he's won a ring already as a manager with the Red Sox. So I feel like everything that's going on with the Mets, you need some kind of championship pedigree. And not saying that Carlos Beltran wouldn't make a good uh manager, but at least Cora has already proven that he could win. All right, give me a couple of things. But what if you go, what if you go, Cora?

SPEAKER_08

Here's my here's my point. There's only two guys I want to see in the Mets. And uh my first pick would be Beltran because of the ties to the team and the amount of respect Soto and Lindor have for him. Yes, okay. Only other guy would be Albert Pujol. Alex Cora. Alex Cora hates Dominican players. The star of the New York Mets is Juan Soto. They will not be able to coexist with each other. He didn't like Devers. He got rid of Roderick.

SPEAKER_06

He got rid of Mookie, uh, the north version of Santo Domingo. What it was it's it's I said is it's ironic because Boston is essentially on the north side of Santo Domingo.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, he got rid of Devers. He got rid of Mookie. He gets he's always had like there's I don't want to say some of the shit, but there's there's there's stuff that Dominican players know that Alex does intentionally. Right. No Dominican player, star player will want to play.

SPEAKER_02

It's crazy you said poolholes, because I was gonna say that too. Continue.

SPEAKER_08

My two guys would be one is Beltron. I feel like he could get the attention of Lockham right away, and you match him up with an experienced bench coach. Zoo is pool poolholes, and then an interesting wild card would be Joe Girardi. If you win the championship pedigree.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm not really a big fan of Joe Girardi, um, only because I feel like he's too old school now for like the new the new era of managing all the analytical bullshit and all that. And I think that's why Tony Larosa didn't really pan out, but I understand what you're saying.

SPEAKER_08

I'll give you the argument for Girardi. One, yeah, again, I mentioned Jeter Nayrock, who was their manager. Yes, he's been uh he's gonna hold uh the veterans accountable. He's a no-joke type of guy. The guys respect him in the locker room. And not only that, he is very good with young ball players. He was manager of the year in Miami with a lot of with a rookie, essentially a rookie team. Right. So he would be able to develop some of the Mets young talent. Now, he's not my first choice. My first choice is Eltron.

SPEAKER_02

Me too, yeah. But I mean, no, I mean, I agree with Joe Girard. I mean, obviously, he never should have been fired as a Yankee. I mean, Boone should have never been hired.

SPEAKER_08

We'll we won't get into that, but I I feel like they're should have been Tony Pena after uh Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, yeah, but Boone Boon Boone got the job because he hit one big home run.

SPEAKER_08

And Girardi also uh uses the analytics a lot better than some of the yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, the Phillies did Joe Girardi dirty too, but you know.

SPEAKER_08

So those would be my picks, and I'm not interested in Alex Cora in any way, and I don't think Cora's interested.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I didn't know that, so I definitely agree with that. I mean, I that definitely changed my mind on Cora a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't obviously make Beltro number one, so well, we'll see because apparently you never know what's gonna happen with uh David Stearns and what he has in mind. Oh, I know, yeah, with everything that's going on.

SPEAKER_08

But he's also Cora's not a Stearns type of guy, though, because Stearns is similar to Cashman. He's going to want an analytical manager who is essentially a puppet, like Andy Green is the manager of the Mets right now. And that's a joke. I know it's a joke.

SPEAKER_02

And we have Kai Carrera as our bench coach, and he always looks like he doesn't know what he's doing.

SPEAKER_08

And I I honestly thought that he was like a plant that they put in there to make him the manager, and I I know he's a yes man for David Stern.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. Yep. Well, well, listen, guys, at the end of the day, as much as you guys won't believe me, me being a Yankee fan, I really do hope that Mets get get their stuff together and eventually win a ring because as much as I don't necessarily I don't hate the Mets, it's I don't really care for them, but I know so many great Mets fans, and I feel like because I know what it's like to be a Jets fan and a Mets fan with having droughts of championships myself up until recently. I want you guys to get yours, and I hope you do, and then afterwards we'll just go from there. Because like I said, I don't I don't look at you guys in the same vein as I look at Red Sox fans or Dodgers, you know, anything like that.

SPEAKER_08

So baseball is much better when both teams are yes, exactly. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And I don't I don't hate the Yankees either.

SPEAKER_08

So the Yankees in the midst. Well, I got I I hate the franchise. I hate the franchise.

SPEAKER_02

I hate no, I for me, I I hate I hate the franchise, I hate the franchise. I hate the I don't hate the players, I hate the fans though. I hate the fans the most. Not you, not you, but you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_06

But you know, that's how I feel about Giants. You know, I don't hate the Giants, but some of these fans could actually go, you know, suck a dick.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I get it, I get it, I get it, I get it. So it my thing is if you remember, yeah, uh a couple years ago, the Mets were in first place, the Yankees were in first place, they were the two teams, the best teams in baseball. Yes, yep. MLB was on fire.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yep.

SPEAKER_06

Wilson Contreras ejected for a second straight game after charging pitcher forward as four tossed and rest on the he threw a helmet during the brawl.

SPEAKER_01

That dude is that dude's a hothead, man.

SPEAKER_02

He's a hot head. Yeah. Speaking of Mets, uh Brandon Sprook got a win today. He's been pitching well now. He's figuring it out. He's figuring it out right now.

SPEAKER_08

And we messed up Jonathan Tung in the process.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Oh, we messed him up, yep. And then the Mets finally won today. Noah McLean got the W.

SPEAKER_08

But I hope we train him out. I I I I really felt like I think he got a lot of pressure.

SPEAKER_02

He got a lot too much pressure as a rookie to be like the ace right now. That's the problem.

SPEAKER_08

I I I really like Schlittler. I really like it. Yeah, Schlitter's good. He had a bad game today, but and I and I thought that we had the future of you know, future aces both in New York. So Oh, yeah. Yaddy or Melina's another interesting choice. I just saw a report.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's not a bad one. How would so I got a question? How do you feel about um losing Hefner? Because I was pissed off about losing Hefner to the Braves. I thought he was not the problem. He's a great pitching coach, and look at their pitching staff this year.

SPEAKER_08

I would have I wanted to keep him and Richardson.

SPEAKER_02

I thought that uh no Richardson was the biggest loss because Juan Soto was stealing like almost was stealing almost 40 bases.

SPEAKER_08

So they knew they're they did it on purpose to Mendy.

SPEAKER_02

So 100%. And I heard that he wanted he wanted more. I don't know, something happened. I think there was something going on with him and Stearns. He didn't get along with the front office, 100%.

SPEAKER_08

I also like don't like the way David Stearns fired uh Eric Chavez.

SPEAKER_02

But oh yeah, I know. That's what I didn't get because you're gonna get mad at that guy, but you had two different hitting coaches. How could you have two hitting coaches?

SPEAKER_06

I mean, that I think that's a pattern that Stearns does. I mean, because look at the way he fired Buck Show Walter, didn't even do it in person.

SPEAKER_02

I know, and Buck Showalter is a great that was a guy that we should never should have let go. We we let go of too much. He's been a scapegoat his whole life, though. I mean the deep acts.

SPEAKER_08

Buck is uh similar to Tom Thibodeau, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, he's never gonna get out of his own way. I mean, no one will Oriol fans will always remember the Zach Britton moment. So I I totally understand that.

SPEAKER_06

And it's and it's funny because it's it it's it's definitely parallel where like we had Buck show Walter and then Joe Girardi took us over the uh I mean uh Joe Tori took us over the humps. We got rid of Thibodeau and it was Mike Brown that got us over the humps.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So I mean so uh how uh so Timothy, are you finished shooting Doom 12 or something like that? What's going on? So you know I'm uh I'm opposed to Kylie's very super man. Yeah. Um Tony Swift to stop coming to game. She's not a real fan.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean shit. I mean, fuck. Uh she's uh she's she's renting out Madison Square Garden to get married to Travis Kelce. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. She was wearing a Cavaliers jersey the previous series.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you know what it was? I think I think it was, you know what's funny? I saw that video, and then I saw when I think it was Donovan Mitchell went up for a layup in minute and one, and she like was like she was pissed. She was like, no, because she I think she was actually a real Knicks fan. I don't know if she really was, but I did see old pictures of her.

SPEAKER_06

I saw her wearing, yeah, I saw her wearing Carmelo jerseys and shit, but I'll tell you what though, she's welcome at the garden anytime over DJ Khaled, who apparently doesn't care about basketball in general. He's a Miami Heat fan, too. Yeah, but he was looking at his phone the entire time.

SPEAKER_08

I know, he didn't give a shit. I know. Ben Simmons possibly signing with the Miami Heat.

SPEAKER_02

Huh? You're not pissing him about that guy, man. If he actually would have learned to get a jump shot, he would be an elite player. His mental health, he's he's soft though. He's mentally soft though. Mentally soft.

SPEAKER_06

So I mean that who was it that Colin Coward said, uh, move over such and such, Ben said. It was it was Ben LeBron.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Oh LeBron, yeah. Yeah because you're not compared to him, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He said that uh thank you, LeBron. So if I come off with ridiculous takes, do I get a do I get a job at Fox Sports? Is that how it works? I mean I mean shit, I guess so. Look at Skip Bayless, man.

SPEAKER_08

Move over LeBron. Yeah, KD. KD, we're all good.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Oh yeah. Oh man, what a bigger fail than Tebow.

SPEAKER_02

How do you guys feel about that uh John Morant trade though? I gotta I'm curious about that. Because they have a lot of guards.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I mean, I I just think that he was so much of a headache for Memphis that it's a shame because he's probably the greatest player that's in the franchise. And with the just all the all the all of the all of the off the uh floor issues and stuff like that, I think it was just too much for them to bear.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, if he can't learn something from Dane Dalla, then he shouldn't be on the lead.

SPEAKER_02

And you're right.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, he actually big facts.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he actually went to the right place because there's nothing to fucking do in Portland. So maybe he figures it out, but I don't know. You never know. We shall if the Cromberry goes up in Portland, you'll know who to think they might keep all four guards, but I think they should trade because they got four guards now. They got Drew Holiday, Scoot, David Leonard, and John, Scoot Henderson balled out last year. Like he was really you know figuring it out finally as a player in the NBA.

SPEAKER_06

So it's crazy to think that he's probably gonna be the guy that moves.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think so.

SPEAKER_06

It's crazy just to think that just two years ago Drew Holiday signed an extension with the with the Celtics.

SPEAKER_02

I know, and he's a great player.

SPEAKER_06

I would love to have Drew on our back.

SPEAKER_02

Me too. Me too. He's a great player.

SPEAKER_08

I'd take him. I'd take him any day of the week, championship pedigree.

SPEAKER_02

Remember, we had the rumors last year.

SPEAKER_08

We were talking about getting them. Yeah. JB could take some some games off.

SPEAKER_02

And he's a good defender. Elite defender.

SPEAKER_08

Imagine him on the floor with Mikkel and OG. Oh my god. Oh my god. Forget about that. Damn, people would even people not scoring. Mexico's up one nil against Ecuador. Oh well.

SPEAKER_02

I still couldn't believe what was it? Paraguay beat Jeremy, Germany yesterday?

SPEAKER_08

Germany, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That shit was crazy.

SPEAKER_08

Well, we have completed an hour of the 2 a.m. crew. I want to thank the other Chalamate for joining us tonight.

SPEAKER_02

I appreciate you guys having me on, man. Appreciate it. I'll definitely do it again if you guys are ever down.

SPEAKER_08

So yeah, I love the fact that we were able to uh get your reaction and your uh take uh as an authentic Knicks fan that you are.

SPEAKER_02

Appreciate it, man.

SPEAKER_08

Without a doubt. We appreciate it.

SPEAKER_06

Thank you for joining us, man. I really appreciate you joining coming on this episode. Thank you. All right, man. Take care, boys. You guys have a good night, all right?

SPEAKER_08

You too. You too, bro. I mean, that that that's awesome. You know, we get an actual Knicks fan to uh share. I think we should do that every once in a while. Bring on it.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I mean, it's you can't get any more official than a tattoo.

SPEAKER_08

Two of them, two of them, absolutely. So the reason why, like, because he was wearing it, he was the only guy at the bar with a Starks jersey, and I was like, this guy's a fucking real Knicks fan. And not only was it a Starks jersey, it was a camel starks jersey.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yo, when I was at the parade, uh, and I was hanging out with Kevin Ben Gosman, shout out to Kevin, we were sitting next to a guy that was wearing like a St. Patrick's Day version of a Jamal Crawford jersey, and he was the green clothes, and he was this close to Jack and his shit.

SPEAKER_08

That that that's uh because a lot of people might have the Nate, the Kryptonate one, green one. That's an underrated Knicks jersey. Yeah, that green um Brunson is actually uh petitioning to get the 1999 uh jerseys as one of the jerseys they wear next season.

SPEAKER_06

All right, I'm with it.

SPEAKER_08

So, how do you feel about your Yankees? Yeah, we didn't get to touch on that one before we go off.

SPEAKER_06

I think this is just once again, I feel like I've seen this movie over and over again. The June soon. The June, yeah. Then afterwards we'll pick it up, we'll get to the playoffs, and Judge will get healthy and start hitting and everything. But if that if that's the case, it's just gonna be another situation where like it's close but no cigar, meaning a World Series championship.

SPEAKER_08

Enough for Cashman to keep his job, not enough to get him fired.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. Yeah, I mean, at this at this point, I think Cashman is gonna have a job with the Yankees longer than I have left on this earth.

SPEAKER_08

So is there a move that you feel could be a difference maker for them if the Yankees go out there and and and and make one to bring some support for Judge? Oh my god, Mexico just hit a second goal. Oh wow.

SPEAKER_06

Uh I I have to think about that, man. I gotta see what's out there in the market and then afterwards see what goes from there. But it one thing that I am curious about is whatever they said they decide to do by the trade deadline or whatever. I think that Jas Chisholm's number is uh is numbered. His days are numbered as a Yankee. Man, clearly, I mean, not only is he producing, but clearly the coaching staff in the front office is not happy with his antics.

SPEAKER_08

So but they need a a a they need someone with a pulse on that team. They need someone. They do, and Chaz is that guy, but he's also not producing. I I I I get that, but they can't do that because Volpe hasn't produced for the majority of Yankee career, but they gave him all the leeway in the world.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'm not saying I want Chaz gone per se. I'm just saying that I I'm just I'm just trying to be a fly on the wall of what's going on in the Yankee front office.

SPEAKER_08

Who's the guy you want this this offseason? You're already set on starting pitching, I feel. Yeah. I feel like the Yankees are missing two hitters in that lineup besides Judge. Two very solid, like not even 40 home run guys, two 20 home run guys that hit for average. That would put you guys in a in a different stratosphere. And they need to figure out a situation at first base.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, shit. At this point, I'll even take Ahmed Rosario over Bolby.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, but it's just gotta be Caballero. Cabby's and you're messing him up, you're moving him around, I get he could do it, but Caballero should be your starting shortstop no matter what, right now. Until you figure out a long-term solution. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But they did they definitely need to do something with that shortstop position.

SPEAKER_08

I think the Yankees need a shortstop, a first baseman, and a third baseman.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Oh. I just got a text message from the other Chalamet. Dean Wade has agreed to a four-year deal, $39 million deal with the 76ers.

SPEAKER_08

Wade was on the Cavs, right?

SPEAKER_06

He was on the Cavs. Yep. Now he's uh in Philly. Yeah. Got his bag.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, that's not gonna work out. No. They still got embied. They got embied back there. They need to flip that team over and make it Maxi's team. Otherwise, they won't go anywhere.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, but uh, we'll see. We'll see what we'll see what the Yankees do. And uh, you know, it's the end of June. Hopefully, they get the stench of June off of their back and see how they go in July and August.

SPEAKER_08

We want to wish everybody a happy July 4th weekend. Enjoy yourself this weekend, watch the World Cup. It's very exciting. If you want to suffer a little bit and you're a Mets fan, go ahead, watch Mets. Um, I pray Judge E gets back and he's healthy. I I really like Aaron Judge, I think he's a good ball player. Um and it it sucks to see whenever he gets hurt, but I've I've always said this. Judge your bus.

SPEAKER_06

It's judge or buttons for that team. So um same thing with Stan. Like like the dude is never ever on the field.

SPEAKER_08

So I'm not a Yankee hater. I I like Judgy, but I that's all you guys got. That's that's how I feel. So I get it.

SPEAKER_06

It's the fans you hate, and we got it.

SPEAKER_08

No, it's mostly the front office. The fans I can respect, you know. Okay, they're legit fans of their ball club. They're just and I'm pretty sure the fans would agree with me about the front office.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I was gonna say that. I mean, I can't fault you for the front office. I'm not particularly a fan of theirs either.

SPEAKER_08

Well, Knicks fans, don't worry. Two AMers, don't worry. Jason and I will have some great stuff to talk about besides these two awful baseball teams. Football season will start up in August. We'll continue to celebrate our New York Knicks and we'll see what happens. I mean, I I have full confidence the Yankees will make the playoffs. They'll have a better chance if they could chase down and get the division. Um, and I want to see how bad the Mets get. I will be in City Field on July 10th. Umfortunately, I I will be there. It was like a uh a planned event already, so you know I have to go.

SPEAKER_06

Uh I would not I would not actually try to go to a Phillies game this summer. Uh why? Well, because I I don't think I ever told you this, but I have a bucket list of visiting every MLB park in the world. Oh, you want to go, yeah. I have something. Just to cross it off the list, I couldn't give it, I couldn't give two shits about you know Bryce Harper or anything like that.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, well, you would have if he would have been a Yankee at the Yeah, thank you, Brian Cashman. Thank you, Brian Cashman. Oh, so Jason, do you have any last words?

SPEAKER_06

Uh yeah, I just want to say uh happy birthday, America. Uh let's go, vamos Colombia. Shout out to my cousin Parker, shout out to the other Chalomet for joining us tonight. And uh, I hope that the Mets and the Yankees get their esh together because honestly, it can't just be the Knicks right now, even though I'm totally fine with the celebration. I'm still on Cloud9 from the championship. I don't know about you, man, but I still can't. I can't, I stay, I still can't. I've been watching highlights ever since. I've been watching so much highlights, and there's the edit that's on our Instagram, which is the 2am crew, which you guys can follow on Instagram right now, with uh the edit from like how shitty it was to how it is now with the Frank Sinatra song in the background. Anytime I see Patrick Ewing at the end of that video, water works.

SPEAKER_08

Yep, same same thing, man. I've been watching a ton of highlights, a ton of edits from other people. Um I will continue celebrating. Happy birthday, America. You don't look a day over, 21. Happy 250. We'll see you guys next week. Same time, same channel. Uh, 2 a.m.ers, champion 2 a.m.ers. Continue to party. Uh hold on, I gotta set our outro video, which for some reason is not in the happy nomination to you, Rick. Oh, happy nomination to you as well. Yes. Maybe there's some other nods down the pipeline. We'll see.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. And also be sure to check out the Jason Enrique show premiering this week. Just want to put that out there.

SPEAKER_08

Beautiful.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

See you guys next week. Thank you for the support and love. Good.
