How are you? What have you been doing nowadays? I was busy busy moving to my new place. Yeah, we are literally recording in the new place, you see? New place. My son wrote. So now we finally got a place to do our proper podcast. Rather than the previous shabby area that you have. C NY. The time of the year to spend a lot of money. Have you been traveling nowadays? Not really. Have you thought about traveling? I haven't traveled for close to how many years? Eight years? Uh-huh. I haven't traveled for out of Singapore for about eight years. But have you thought about traveling? Yes. Because my son wants to go to Japan. To go. I don't know. He just wants to go there during the winter. But see anime. See the snow. Snow. Snow, you need to go to Osaka. You cannot go to Kyu. I don't know. Hokkaido. His classmate went to Japan and come back and share with him. So he has been bugging me to bring him to go to Japan. Show him some YouTube videos about Japan. Yeah, for me. I also have not been traveling for quite some time, but I have uh thought about bringing my family over to Hong Kong. Okay, so that we can have things, we can visit the Buddha statue, we can visit finally the Disneyland. Okay, because it's the cheapest and most affordable Disneyland that I can go. Because the air ticket to Hong Kong is cheaper than the air ticket going to China. I think the last time we traveled out of Singapore was for both of us together as friends. The food was good. The drink was cheap. The car wreck was cheap. The muscles were chilled. Yeah, the leg, everything. Yeah, that is what we what we done did, but that was like a few years back. Very long ago. Yeah, that was about seven, eight years ago. Yeah. Have you thought about us traveling again? Hopefully we can need approval first, huh? Yeah, we must need to seek our approval from our wife. Okay, but this episode is not talking about us traveling. Okay, it's mainly for our listeners to travel to Singapore, to our homeland. Correct. Okay? Because as a grab driver myself, I have fetched a few tourists that have literally no idea where to go in Singapore. Other than those they can find online. Yes. Other than the basic description about Singapore, where to visit in Singapore, all those main tourist attractions. Yes. I think one of the most uh well-known since they touched down would be the Jugo. Yeah. But as a traveler, okay, for me, for my idea of traveling, I want to live like the locals. Yes, experience their food, their cultures, how how they go about it on their daily lives. Yes. So for me as a Singaporean, if I want to travel to Hong Kong, usually I will see like Hong Kong dramas, Hong Kong movies, uh, so that I can learn more about Hong Kong and their culture and what they do, where they go, instead of having to read online. Because I want to experience how it is like to live in Hong Kong. Or maybe Taiwan. How is it like to live in Taiwan? So that is the essence of traveling. Instead of just go to the tourist attraction. For Hong Kong, go to the Chinese one. Uh or maybe uh Chiolong Sun, Kyulong. Okay, or maybe Taiwan, uh, go to Taipei One One. Those busy busy things. Uh for me, I had traveled both to Taiwan and Hong Kong before. Yeah, so have you been living like a local there? I always try. Difficult, right? Yeah, we don't know where to go exactly. Yeah, so we have to what? We have to ask a tour guide. I don't ask tour guide. Because tour guide usually brings you to the friend. But that's that's how they want to keep you in the past. What I always do when I travel, I always have to ask. Ask the locals. Ask the locals. Hey, uh, where do you go usually during your free time? What do you eat? Um, what's the cheapest food that you can find, etc. But between the the food difference between uh Taiwan and Hong Kong would be the Taiwan is more like you can eat from one end to one end. Yeah. Singapore also kind of literally you can find food every single everywhere. You can find food, but it's not those snacks. I can even find food downstairs. Snacks everywhere. Taiwan is really all the way from one end of the street all the way to the other end. It's all about street food. Yeah. Yeah. And for Hong Kong, it's more of a tin sing. Yeah, in Hong Kong is everywhere, but it's hard to find the good ones. The good ones. Yeah. The authentic one. Okay. So let's start this uh podcast proper. Okay, we'll be talking about traveling in Singapore. Okay. And hashtag like a local. Okay? So this is Ryan, this is Sean, and this is Let's Talk. Okay, so like what we say when you uh touchdown in Singapore, the first thing that you see is Chinese Airport. Regardless of whether you are in terminal one, two, three, or four. Okay, it's all in the same area and it's accessible between terminals via the sky train. Yes. What we call the sky train. Okay. So let's talk about Chinese Airport. We got uh this shopping mall called Jua, Jua Chin. Okay, it's a lifestyle retail nature complex. What do I mean by lifestyle retail nature? Lifestyle. In Jua Chin Airport, we got many boutique shops. Yes. Coach, you can find. Apple store. Okay. Almost all the brands that you need. Yeah. And you can you can even do some attractions, like the Shishedo Forest Valley, which is indoor garden walking through. Okay, with palm trees, with plants, like a rainforest, like that. Indoor in China. Well known for their pictures or for kids, would be their kit. Yes. With the Skynet. Okay. That is lifestyle. Retail, like I mentioned, you got coach, you got Apple, you got Starbucks, you got Lux Lobster. A lot, a lot. You got a lot of food. Basically, any any of the brands that you can find in Singapore is every single level also got food. Okay, every single level. Okay. And nature. What do I mean by nature? Like I mentioned, it's Shishado Forest Valley. And there's also the main attraction, which is the HSBC rain for text, or aka, also known as waterfall. Okay. 40 meters high with light shows. Yes. Okay. And uh different different times. Actually, nighttime or daytime, also the same because it's all indoor. It's all indoor. They were off the light. They were off the light, but because of the on top, the view is a bit different. Yeah, but you can also uh you can see the vortex at level one. And you in the in the center of the of the vortex, there's a sitting area for you to take uh photo, videos. You can even relax and chill. Have you ever heard of any airport where you can actually see waterfall, you can buy a starbuck and sit and chill with all the cool breeze. Not that I know of. Yeah. Juva China Airport. Correct. That's why it's one of our main attritions. Yes, correct. Okay, even for locals, like even for locals like us. Okay, so airport, China Airport. Other than the indoor one, okay, then we also have an outdoor one. Okay, the Jurassic Walk. I think the one you are more familiar with with. Okay, the Jurassic Walk is a walking trail. I don't know how long it's a walking trail, but there are dinosaurs models along the trail at terminal two. Okay, right there, right outside terminal two. Okay. You can also find the signboard direction. Okay. Many dinosaurs along the trail for you to take photos with. Okay. So that is the Jurassic Mouse or Jurassic Walk. Jurassic Jam. I believe you brought your kids over. I don't have the chance yet. That's years ago. Okay. So that is upon touchdown in China Airport. Then what do you have next? Ride down the road. Okay. Taking train from China Airport all the way to the room. Marina Base. Taking the car and all. The first thing you see is East Coast Park. Ah, yes. Again, one of our Singapore main attractions, the East Coast Park, with a lot of seafood. It's a park, it's a beach. You can do cycling there. And after East Coast Park, what do you see? Marina Basins. Yes. It's another iconic landmark. It's also a hotel. It's a boutique. It's also a casino. Correct. Okay. And there's also Sky Park Observation Deck for public. But public can only access only certain few places. But as residents of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel can access the infinity pool. Why we call it an infinity pool? The barrier is invisible. Yes, correct. Yeah. So you can see for the five-story inside the pool. At the edge, you can literally see the whole Singapore city lights. I believe they can most of our listeners can see the photos shared. Shared online. Yes. And Marina Bay Sands is among Asia the largest luxury mall. With Louise Vuitton, the Chanel. Okay. Rolex, whatever the luxuries brand that you can think of. Correct. That's all there. And there's also a rain, Oculus, water features. You can also have a, you know, the kind of Venice boat, right? It's a sample. Yeah. You see? All the sample inside Marina Bay Sands. Yes. Okay. And the cool thing about Marina Bay Sands is you are able to walk over to Gardens by the Bay. Yes. Gardens by the Bay is a nature park. It's also known as Singapore's city in a garden. Yes, correct. Why is it not a garden in a city? Very good question. Okay. So for marine, uh, for Gardens by the Bay, what you can see is a super tree. Okay, it's a steel frame vertical garden, literally a steel frame up with a lot of uh plants on the side. Okay. And at night you see the super tree light up. Okay. There's also a 128-meter walkway, which is called the OCBC Skyway, where you can walk among the trees on top 128 meters off the ground. And the best part usually most of these are free except for the flower dome and the cloud forest. Two domes, okay, is literally a glasshouse. Flower dome displays flowers. Okay, florals mainly from the Mediterranean and Arab regions. And the cloud forest also features another waterfall. I don't know why Singapore got two waterfalls. Yeah. Because I think we don't have a natural waterfall. True. Okay. So cloud forest, you will see the indoor waterfall. Okay. And also there are certain sometimes they will have certain events. Yes, correct. Yeah, so it depends. So you had to read online. Like sometimes uh during the Sakura season. That was the flower dome. And uh recently one was the Jurassic. Again, Jurassic Park, because the Jurassic movie, the new Jurassic movie. Yes. Yeah, a Jurassic Park. So it's always for us. Always ongoing changing one for the event. So before you visit, check what they have. Yeah. And the next one will be Santosa Island. Okay. Santosa Island, you can literally spend two days there. With a lot of things to do. First, number one, the Universal Studio. Yes. Okay, you can literally spend from morning 10 a.m. all the way until when they close at 7 p.m. Okay, Universal Studio. We have rides from Transformers, from Mummies, Shrek. Okay, you can see Prince uh Far Qua. Okay. How how to escape from the this Prince or King Farqua, uh Strat and the Donkey, the Donkey Show. Yes, there's many, many rights inside for you to enjoy. Yeah, you can spend a whole entire day there. But other than that, over at the RWM resort World Santosa, there's also a sea aquarium. But now change the name to Oceanarium. Yes, correct. There's a big difference between the sea and the ocean. Okay? Which is bigger. Okay, it is bigger now. Okay? Then the last another thing is the second casino we have in Singapore. Yes. Also as a casino. Okay. Maybe the next day, okay, you can also visit uh Sentosa's beach. There are there are three beaches. Beaches. The three beach. Okay. Siloso Beach, Palawan Beach, and the Tanjong Beach. Yes. Depending on what you want. But the more well-known are usually for the tourists are the Siloso and the Palawan. Okay, whyong Beach actually for tourists they don't really travel or go over there. Okay. Let me tell you why. Okay, there's three beach distinct vibes. Okay, Saloso Beach. Mainly for the sports and the nightlife. Yes, correct. Yeah, there's Saloso Club. There's also the Saloso Wave. Somehow our countdown events are at Saloso Beach. Yes. Okay, even the what's it called? Music Festival. Yes. Was it the Music Festival? Yeah. I can't remember. It's also held at Saloso Beach. Palawan Beach is for family-friendly recreation. Okay. Tanjong Beach. Why lesser people go to Tanjong Beach? Because for those who go to Tanjong Beach, are the people with a lot of money for the relaxation. Because there's a beach club. And another one is Tanjong Beach, usually they also allow pets. Go to Tanjong Beach. Okay. And apart from that, for Santosa, there's also leisure zones such as Santosa Nature Discovery. Yes. So you can experience the greeneries, the broadwalks, and also the Imbia lookout for nature trails. Okay? And also located at Imbia, you can take the cable car ride. And one way to travel around in Sendoza instead of walking, although you can walk around, it's not far, but one of the ways is to travel by the shuttle bus. And the beach track. Yes, correct. Okay. So yeah, that is probably peanuts about Sendoza. Yeah. That is for you to find out. Okay? I think that would be and for food. No, before we go to food, there's one last part that everyone will all the tourists will go to in Singapore when they visit Orchard Road. Orchard Road, yes. Why Orchard Road? Because it's street. Yes. It's literally a road. With all the shopping malls, all the boutiques, all the shop that you can think of is located at Orchard Road. Yes. And Orchard Road actually, if you walk down the from the start of Orchard Road all the way to the end, it covers about three MRT stops. Yeah, from Orchard Road to Somerset. And you can also literally spend a day there. Okay. And it's a very good workout. Okay, we cover some food. Okay, what you can see, what you can find on the internet as a food. Maxwell Food Center. Yes. Newton Food Center. And the famous Lao Pasat. Yes. All these are the more well-knowns that locals go to if they work nearby. Okay, so talk about La Pasa. La Pasa is one of the oldest. Yes. And recently newly renovated market. It's literally a market, but we also don't call it a market. Yeah, we call it more of a La Pasat in literary translation to English is old market. Yes. Yeah, because it's one of the oldest markets there with an old big tang clock there. Okay. But right now, La Pasat has been newly renovated. And from Friday night to Sunday, you can literally have satay along the street. Yes. There's a lot of people there. Okay. Newton Food Center, more famous for their seafood. Samba Stingray, samba soft stall, everything samba. But every store got their own unique samba taste. Yes. But I want to highlight about, mainly highlight about the Maxwell Food Center. Okay, because it's located right. It's not saying far away from La Pasan. It's still near. But it's located at Chinatown. Okay, later we'll discuss about that. Okay. It's Maxwell Market built in the 1920s. It has a very, very long history really. More than 100 years. Yes, and uh redeveloped in 1986. Okay, what's the highlight for Maxwell Food Market? Hainan chicken rice. There are literally two Hainan chicken rice for that. Both are very authentic. Okay. If you for for theorists that want to want to want to know, oh Singapore is famous for Hainanese chicken rice. Where can I find the best Hainan chicken rice? Okay, usually as a grad driver, to entertain them, I would say Punjonki. Because everybody literally go there. Okay? But recently I found that Meshore Food Center, Hainanese chicken rice, and R Thai Hainanese chicken rice. Forget about Punjonki. Okay? Go there. There's also the hawker center, okay, itself. Every single there's many hawker centers located in Singapore. Yes. Okay? Not only in the Mesuel, Newton, or La Paz. Oh, these are the most well-known ones, but actually in every estate. There's a literally a hawker center. Correct. Okay. A hawker center is Singapore's multicultural culinary heritage. Okay. It's a social, it's it's like a it's like a social space. Okay? Shared dining spaces. Yes, correct. So if you even if you cannot find a seat, okay, you can share with other people because it's a round table or rectangle table or whatever. But you can wear it. People come and share, you can you can sit down, you can just buy, you can carry, you can sit down. But remember, always remember, when you are eating in Singapore, other than restaurants. Please clear your trade. Yes, correct. It's a new law. It's a law, literally a law. Okay? Because Singapore is a fine country. Do you do anything wrong? You get fine. Yes, correct. Okay? So even for not uh not clearing the trade, you will also get fine. Okay? Yeah. So that's about what you can find, okay, in on the internet. And oh yeah, we talk about the cultural Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Lam. Correct, these are the things. Chinatown represents for Chinese. Little India? For Indians. Kampong Glam? Chinese for Malay. Oh my god, you failed. It's okay. Okay? But yeah, literally there are places uh Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Black, both located in the central of Singapore. Okay. Then you can find Chinese food in Chinatown, Indian food in Little India, but Kampong Glau, very specific. Okay, because they are Arabic food, they are Turkish food, they are Indian Muslim food, Muslim food. Yeah, so it depends on your choices. Because Arabic is also Muslim. Some Turkish is a lot of Muslim. Yes. Okay. Indians, they are also Muslims. So yeah, if you want to have more variety choices, okay? So that's about what you can find on the internet or maybe the social media. But how about traveling like a local? You want to share? For usually for locals, we don't really go to tourist attraction areas because one of the main reasons is it's super crowded. And it's very super expensive. Yes, it's very priced. Yeah, even for locals, we're also paying the tourist price. Yes. So for you if you like the nature and chew vibes, actually one of the areas that we locals travel to would be a Jurong Lake Garden. Okay, we we we cross simplify it out. North, south, east, west of Singapore. Okay, Jurong Lake Garden is literally the west side. Okay. If you like the north side will be the Pongo Waterway Park or Northeast. Okay, let's talk about Okay, we split into north, southeast, west. Let's talk about the northwest. Northwest will be the north will be more of northeast. North East. Northeast will be a Ponko Waterway Park. Okay, what? What about the Pongo Pongo Waterway? So one of the more well-known places for us to do that, one of the few things we can do there is the cycling routes. So the routes is very nice to cycle around. And the view, the bridge, the scenario bridge ridges is nice. It's even you can take a lot of nice photos there. Yes. Sunset, all this, yes. Yeah. So it's open in around 2011.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so it's right, it's quite new. So you can go there and explore the areas. And if you're not wrong, Pongo Waterway Park, there's also a shopping mall called Pongo Waterway Point. Yes. Yeah, also have a diverse diversity of retails and lifestyles. And food. Yes, correct. Food choices. Okay. If you even like to read books, there's also a national library. For our listeners, let's spell it Pongo. P-U-N-G-G-O-L. Waterway Park. Yes. Okay. Pongo. So that's covered by a north side for the nature and chew areas. Then talk about the south side. The south side, Sentosa is literally located in the south. Correct. But other than Sentosa, we also have a shopping mall right outside of Santosa. At the entrance of Santosa, actually. Called Harbourfront. Called Harbourfront Center, where people take cruise ships or maybe ferries. Okay, take ferries over to the Indonesia part of an island called Batam. And beside the center, we have a shopping mall called Vivo City. Okay. Also have a diversified of uh retail, food, and lifestyle. Okay. Actually, for all the shopping centers in Singapore. I don't have to repeat really. It's all diversified with retail lifestyles and food. Okay. But I think that cover of our South because our South is actually more all the tourist attraction is all quite clustered in the South. Yes. Yeah, correct. So if you actually south, we don't have much of the locals that really goes to the colour. Oh no, no, no, no, you're wrong. You're wrong, you're wrong. You're wrong. You need to find, you're wrong. In the south, we have Alexandra Road. Locals always gather there. Why? Apart from buying cars, we have Ikea Alexandra. To me that feels like central. Oh really? Yeah, to me that feels like central. Because I stay near there. My parents' place is near. Yeah, yeah, rich. Yeah, I forgot. My parents stay near there. So to me that that area feels like a central area. Because from the area travel to Orchard by bus is like 10-15 minutes. Okay, but we still can classify it as south. I think it's easier. Okay, for Alexandra, we can have uh EK Alexandra, we have Anchor Point, which is literally got nothing there. Okay, but what intrigues me to go there is for the sports attire located in Queensway shopping center. Okay, because oh, the sports attire that are so cheap. It's literally a bug bite. And you can also design. Just bring your design over and they can print and choose the fabric or quality of the sportswear. Yeah, sportswear you want. Yeah, so the apparel comes with uh what what's that called dry feet? Yeah, dry feet. Yeah. There are many different forms of dry fit. Uh whatever kind you want, actually. Okay. That is for the south side, and also one of the main attractions that usually people will miss out. Mount Faber. Ah, yes. Okay. That is also the part. Which also is the cable car connected from Mount Faber to Harbor Friend Center to Santa Sun. Yeah, vice versa. Okay. And on top of Mount Faber, what you can find? Restaurants, dining options. Okay? Yes. But what makes it uh uh uh a main attraction? Because Mount Faber is on top of a hill, there are nature walks. Literally, people, those feet one, will run from the bottom of the hill all the way to the top, and then they'll run back down again for God knows what reason. Okay, so you can also enjoy the sunset over there. You can easily spot some sunset and also uh the picture of a dust. Actually, for mouthable, I think I brought my son to work that that route from the start. It's not a mouthable, not at bottom line, it's actually at the side. Okay. Twice. I brought him from the bottom up twice. So it's quite a long walk, few hours actually. Okay. So do you enjoy the father-son activity? Uh maybe you want to uh explain out uh what you can find in uh Mount Paper. Yes. So one of the like what you mentioned earlier, one of the most easiest ways for you to travel up is from Harper Friends Center. You take a cable card up, then you slowly walk down. I think that would be uh easier for you to walk. Okay. Yeah, but another one is the bridge. At Mount Fable. What was it called? I can't remember what's the name called. Uh what's it called? Hilltop Bridge? I think so. I think I don't think it's China, I think it's Hilltop Bridge. I can't remember. Yeah. So the bridge is very, very nice. Also, especially sunset, you can take very nice photos over there. Yeah, the bridge. My mouth favorite is how you can take a very nice panoramic view. Yes. Okay, of the city skyline, the harbor, the southern islands, which is Santosa. Okay. And okay, thanks for the stuff. Let's talk about the east. My place. Yes, correct. What you can find in the east, number one, downtown east. What can you find in downtown east? Wawa Wet. Yeah, that's about Wawa Wet. Okay, what is Wawa Wet? Wawa Wet is uh so-called like a water theme park. Okay, it's a theme park with all the water slides, the lazy pool, uh that you can enjoy. Chill a day inside. Yeah, you can chill a day inside getting soaking wet. Okay? Other than downtown east. I think most important is before they visit wall wet, then you do one very important thing. So what? Check the weather forecast. Oh yeah. Yeah. Don't just you are not getting soaked in the wall wet, but you're getting soaked by the rain. Okay. Okay, so downtown East is located at Parcel. P-A-S-I-R, space, R-I-S. Okay? Yeah, you can literally take me the Singapore MR2 train there. Okay. Other than that, for downtown East, along the same area, Chinese village. That's why you have to take a car in. It's easier. Okay. What can you find in Chinese village? The famous Nasiloma. Okay, it's located there. But what do people do in Chinese village? Number one, they do fishing for locals. Yes. Okay, they do cycling. There's also a lot of fishing shops over there that sells the fishing. Fishing rock rentals. There's also uh bike rentals that you can explore, you can explore the Chinese beach. But what tourists mainly do in Chinese village is not to eat, to sports, it's mainly to take a ferry, yes. Okay, at Chai ferry terminal to go to Pula Wu Bing. What can you find in Pula Wu Bing? It's a$4 ticket, okay, to go to a small island, which is located off the northeast coast of Singapore. Okay, it's about 10 minutes. And what you can do there is actually to cycle and also to see the nature. And entrance. Okay. Because the Pula Wu Bing itself is uh it's not a developed place, but there's still a kampong there. You can find kampong there. I won't call it a kampong anymore though. Or maybe a village, just a small, small little village. Yeah, there is still a village chief. There are still people who live there and they sell some basic, basic, small little uh seafood dishes. Okay, there's also a bike renter. Then you can take the bike and explore the and the the Pula Wubing Island. It's not a bike, it's a bicycle. Bicycle, yes. Bicycle. Then you can explore around Pula Wubing using the muddy trails. Yes. Okay, the sand trails. But not only that, there's also a resort in Pula Wubin. Yeah, this is located now. Correct. Okay. That one you can you can find on the Google search, Pula Wu Bin Resort. Okay. And apart from that, there's also a shrine or a temple. Yes, it's okay. Which what we call Fosang Ta Pokong. Tao Po Kong Temple. Okay? It's a temple that where Chinese will not embrace. Yes, correct. Okay. For for personal health or safety and family, family's uh health. Just a question. When's the last time you visited Palawbin? Two years, two, three years back on my birthday. My wife wanted me to wanted to give me a surprise for my birthday. But I thought it's uh it's a it's a it's a you know like iPhone or something like a surprise. But you said she brought me to Pulawbin to cycle. So my surprise was to sweat. Okay. The last time I went to Pulawobin, let me think. More than 10 years ago. Come on. Please, as a Singaporean, visit more, uh visit Pula Wing of the I'd like to go there. I'll go there. But I asked you, you like to go Pulawobe or Pula Tokong? Pula Win. But the reason why I don't really visit the area anymore also because of uh I just let uh other people know Pula Wu Bing and Palaw Tok. Tekong is a place where people visit, you cannot visit. People go for their national service as hard. So we have our hell over at uh not really hell, we have fun also, uh training. Yeah. So okay, so Pula Wu Bing is one of Singapore's last remaining, the last, last remaining kampong and a living mute museum of both uh ecology and heritage. Okay, you cannot find in you can still find one place in Singapore for kampong. Okay, which is uh bongkong kampong. Okay, but if you want to have really really know how it is like to live in a village with all the greeneries. Pulao bean, at least you can still get your buy drinks, buy coconut, have meals over there. The bongk kampong is the kampong with residents don't know that's it. Okay, in the east, okay, still consider is Ju Chiet. Okay, Ju Chat, J-O-O space, C-H-I-A-T, Ju Chiet. Ju Chen is a heritage neighborhood where you can find shop houses or maybe houses that is Puranakan style. Yes. Okay. Yeah, it's like the Malay Chinese kind of culture. Uh and the houses are also colourful. Very nice. The yellow, there's this each individual apartment is separated by colours. Yeah, their house are not only nice, they are how they decorate their house inside also very nice. And also their costumes. Yeah. Yes. You can actually find it online. Yes. If you like the Pranakan culture, and you want to see their history, there's actually a museum in Singapore. Yes. Okay, the museum name is called the In Tang. Okay, I-N-T-A-N. I-N-T-A-N-I-Tan. Okay. In Ju Chat, what you can find food. The famous Ju Chap's fried equity. Okay, there's also cafes. There's also the famous 328 Katong Lasa. Okay, which is located at Tanjung Kartong. That is also part of the East Coast. Yes. Okay. So for Katong itself, apart from Katong Lhasa, you can there's also a heritage neighborhood also known for this distinctive uh Taranakan culture and uh colourful shop houses.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but other than that, yeah.
SPEAKER_01There's only one shopping center which is the I12 Kartong. I1, not I12, it's I12 Katong. Nothing much there. Yeah, there's nothing much there. But yeah, the food is amazing. Okay, the culture is amazing. Yes. The view of the shop houses are amazing. Okay. What about the West? West will be my turf. Yes, almost my whole company stay in the West. Okay. Okay, so my family is very big. So most of my relatives, since my grandmother side, all stay in the West. So one of the few places we like to go and chill when we like to be quiet, enjoy the sunset, go for picnics, would be a drong lake garden. That's another garden that is very, very nice. Okay. And not only is it just a normal garden, okay, we also have like the Lantern Festival, Moon Cape Festival, or this. During all these festivals, the Drone Lake Garden, they also set up very nice views. That is a Chinese garden, right? Yes, correct. Yeah. So they were they reconstructed the area and they just reopened it in 2024. So the view there is also just recently on the right. Yes, very recent. If I'm not wrong, uh Jerome Garden located two separate gardens, Chinese garden. And the other one is uh Japanese Japanese garden. Yes.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Alright. So this the garden itself is a blend of heritage landscape with tropical views. Okay. So it's a very more of a locus garden that we try to go there for runs, go there for chills, enjoy the evening walk. Yes. A romantic walk. If you if you like. After the supper. Yeah, if you like. Yeah. Other than that, say what thing in the west? Where's other than drong? I remember I remember my time in the west. Why? Pasalapa camp. The place where I train my life. Another more places we like to go to the West would be a Pokepanjang. Yes. What do you have in Pukebanjang? Because I remember Bukhepanjang not nothing much one. That was many years ago. After they built a new trying to say that I'm old. So many, yeah. After they build a new shopping shopping mall over there, and after that, there's LRT for us to travel around Bukanjang, including Chochukang. Okay, if you like. But what is the main attraction in Boki Panja? From Boki Pan Chang, you go down a bit more, you actually will reach the real corridor. The real corridor, yes. R-A-I-L. Real corridor. Okay. Yes. So it's a very old railway trail. Okay, that's no train, there's no more train service there. Yeah, but it's for us to walk over there. Okay, but what is the train service for? It used it used to, for locals, it used to transport Singaporeans. Is a train service from Singapore all the way to Malaysia? Uh so it's a direct train from Singapore to Malaysia and from Malaysia back to Singapore. Correct. Okay, so it's like a the the train is like an old railroad train line. Okay. And not actually the train not only travel between the from the rail corridor all the way to Malaysia. You actually also last time also actually go to Tangyongpaga. Oh, so the train actually literally brought you over to the towns, the south side, correct. Or Singapore. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Well it's not to have really sounds so convenient, eh?
SPEAKER_01It's a very old kind of train.
SPEAKER_00But it's so convenient. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01But it's open to the public since 2011. So actually it's also quite new.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And if you like the those kind of uh nature walks, actually get walk from the rail corridor, just walk with the trail. So I can walk the follow the trail all the way to Malaysia. You wish. Okay, so it's like it's a it's a it's a heritage, like it's like a walking trail to explore the railway. It's a there's a historical vibes there. Uh very, very nice photo there also. What are they in the West? If you depend on what you're looking for, because West actually the number one is the more what is it called? No more. Our safra? Yeah. Yeah, they say. Sorry, I'm talking about charons. Yeah, charons. So that's our one of our I can say it's the only chalet in the West.
SPEAKER_00Only chalet in the west.
SPEAKER_01East there's a lot of chalet. Yeah. West I say that will be the only chalet. Yeah. In the north there's a lot of challenges. I don't think that's open to the public. No. I think people can go in and eat at the restaurants. For the west side, what I can think of is the Jurong, the jam. J-E-M Jam, which is a Jurong shopping center. Correct. Another one near to Jam will be for the more the locals, I think it's INM. Yeah, INM. Okay. IMM is a place where they sell uh factories. Factory boutique. Like coach. Okay. Think factory, think off-season products. Yeah. Correct. Okay. There's a highly discounted area race for all off-season boutique products. You can have coach, you can have guests, you can have fila. A lot. Okay. But I don't think that's LV, that's a brother. No, I don't remember seeing that. Yeah, those those very high luxurious boutiques. Yeah. Okay. And there's also a shopping mall called the Bunley Shopping Center. It's quite a quite one of the largest shopping centers there, really. Yes. Yeah. Okay. And if you want to have some good food and eating like a local, visit Tamanjuro.
unknownOkay?
SPEAKER_01Tamanjuro. I think West we can still want one more place for the tourists to visit. Where? Science Center. That's why you say Discovery Center. Okay. There are two centers there. Singapore Discovery Center. Okay. Which also in conjunction with the Army Museum. Yes. Okay. And there's a Science Center. I think inside they still have the ice. Yeah, Snow City. Snow City, yes. Okay. You can play the artificial snow. Okay, the experience snow.
SPEAKER_00So your son wants to experience snow, right?
SPEAKER_01Don't you go to Japan really? It's not about the snow, it's about the Japan. Here's a key word.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I want to mainly highlight as a Singaporean. Almost 80% of our Singapore MRT stops is located right at the shopping center. Yes. Yeah. Ulla's, we got Cosby Point. Admiralty, we got the Admiralty place. Strong East, we got the Jam. Yeah. Bundlee, we got the Bunley Shopping Center. What else? Promenade, we got Sunti City. Boogies, we got Boogie Junction. Ishun, we got North Point. A lot, I think. Yeah, it's everything. And almost every stock in Singapore is located at a shopping mall. At the site. So you don't need to be afraid of traveling in MIT. Actually, traveling in Singapore. If you want, you can come to Singapore, buy a tourist concession easily card. I think it's free tech out to pay a certain price. Just go to every single MIT store and explore. That will take you one day. That will take you one week. That will probably take you a week. No, if you will talk about just exit to see, go back in and travel and stuff. When you exit, okay, when you exit, for example, uh okay, let's talk about the main name from the Chinese airport, green line down. The first thought you get is Tanamera. Or maybe Expo. At Expo, once you come out is all the Expo, the convention center. Yes. Whereby they have uh factory outlets and factory sales. Or sometimes our concert also helps. Yeah. Yeah. Then that's why it's the Tanamera. Tanamera actually got nothing much. Then you can transit into what Tempanese or Pasuries. Tempanese. You can exit, go to Tampanese. Oh, Tempanese. Visit the shopping center. It's a crazy place to walk. There's a three shopping center there. Was it three? Three or four? Three. Tempanese. No, four. Four, right. Tappanese Hub, Tampanese one, Tampanese Mall, Century Square. Yeah, that's it. Okay, you can visit the cent uh the Tanese uh shopping mall. And then out of the Tanese, you can you can see our residential area.
SPEAKER_00You can literally leave like a local now. Okay, just walk around the neighborhood.
SPEAKER_01That's the Tempanese Park. That's what I said. If you want to visit each station and walk around, right? That will take you not weeks. But if you just step out, have a look and tap in there. Visit the Tampanese. I think more or less you complete within one to two days. You can take the next stop, it will be Passaris, uh, White Says, Passeries Mall. And the downtown east is there, the World War Web is there. Hey, and walk the Passaris Park. Okay, at Passeries Park, there's a hawker center there. Yeah, it's easy. So if you want to travel like a local. Take the train. Take the train like a local. And that is just our green line. Yeah. Yeah. Green line colours. So that is only one of the stops of our east to west. That's one of the stops only. If you want to travel the northeast, northwest, you need to take a red line. Yeah, which is northeast all the way to And don't worry about the hotels. Actually, don't worry about hotels. We have enough hotels in Singapore. Okay. Even at the west. We also have a hotel, a Jenting Hotel. The D Resort Hotel. I think the most little newest hotel or resort that opened is in our zoo, Mandai. Yeah, the Mandai, the Zoo Resort. It's a very nice place. I didn't have a chance to stay there yet. But that is also located in the west. I guess the west. Yeah, Mandai, the west. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that's about it for traveling in Singapore.
SPEAKER_01Racket. Like a local. Yeah. I know many people say there's nothing to do in Singapore. Especially for tourists, because you are visiting a tourist attraction. There's only so many tourist attractions we can have for your. I want to rephrase that. For many of us, in as a local, we got nothing to do in Singapore. But for a tourist, there are tons of things for you to do. Okay. Best is youngsters. Okay. Maybe the old older generations, they are not going to be able to do that. They are more used to the Chinatown, little India kind of thing to introduce you. When we are when I was 10 plus years old, that's where I go to also. But the best person to ask again is the MRT station staff. Kudos to our SMRT staff. Train station staff, if you ask them what they can do over at the specific area that you are in, yeah, they will tell you what to do. They will try their best to help you and share with you. There's also the map that you can explore around the areas. I think that one only covers about one kilometer. Maybe two. One or two, yeah. Okay, so that's about all. Yeah. I hope you like our sharing today. Yeah, if you want to know some more, we can even create another episode to briefly touch on. Let's talk try to what touch on every single MRT station about each episode. It will be never ending. Okay. We have how many lines now? We have the green line, the red line, the circle line, the top line, the postline. We have about five lines now. Yeah. So I will include our LRT. So that will be like don't know how many how many episodes will there be. Okay. So if you got questions, you can uh leave them in the comment and ask us. Uh or if you define our best to answer again on a brand new episode. Uh if not, if you really like to travel to Singapore and have one or two questions that we can answer, just throw in the comment. Yeah. Yes. The best appreciation is to like, share, and comment our YouTube videos. Okay, you can find us on the YouTube. A YouTube link is in the description box. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Other than that, yeah, that's about it. Okay. We have come to the end of our episode. So thanks for exploring Singapore.
SPEAKER_01Come often. We need theories. Our economy will get better. Yes. Alright, see you next time. This is Ryan. This is Sean. Goodbye.
