Allegedly Golden
Allegedly Golden is a podcast that breaks down high-profile civil lawsuits through the lens of a seasoned civil litigator with 25 years of experience. Instead of headlines, hot takes, or breaking news, this show focuses on what the legal documents actually say, how the civil justice system really works, and why media coverage so often gets it wrong. From celebrity defamation cases to corporate battles and civil rights lawsuits, Allegedly Golden helps you understand strategy, power, and the gray areas of the law without dumbing it down and without pretending the drama isn’t part of the appeal. The Major Social Media Trial You Didn't Know Was Happening
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode, i'm doing a full breakdown of a case that should be on everyone's radar; a California trial where a young woman accuses Meta, Google, TikTok, and Snapchat of causing her mental health issues. She, along with more than a thousand other plaintiffs in a multi-district litigation, asserts that the platforms' algorithms and reward systems are inherently unsafe for children and that the platforms should be held accountable. I'll also do a mock opening statement for each side of the Lively v. Baldoni case to show how they might frame their case if they get to a jury.
Tune into hear:
- Things that hit different when you're middle aged
- What we're waiting on in the lululemon and Karen Read cases
- The legal arguments the social media platforms have made to defend themselves against negligence claims from parents and children
- The evidence both sides are trying to have sidelined in the upcoming trial, and the kinds of questions being asked in jury selection
- How the Lively case might be presented to a jury, from both sides
