Sometimes you sit down with a plan for an episode.
And sometimes your brains have other ideas.
In this episode of Wildly Intentional, Flick and Verity intended to discuss a completely different topic. But after a quick catch-up about Verity's recent holiday, the conversation took a classic ADHD-fuelled detour and never quite found its way back.
Instead, the ladies found themselves exploring everything from politics, religion and social issues to trans rights, online discourse and the state of the world in 2026. It's thoughtful, passionate, occasionally chaotic, and perhaps the perfect example of why some of the best conversations happen when there's no script.
Flick shares her recent experiences of attracting not one but two social media trolls, and reflects on what it's like to be visible online when your values aren't universally welcomed. The conversation also touches on a lovely day out with her mum and aunt, where an unexpected discussion about Pride parades sparked a wider conversation about visibility, representation and why some conversations still matter today.
Along the way, Flick and Verity explore the importance of curiosity, respectful disagreement and the dangers of reducing complex issues to social media soundbites. As always, they don't claim to have all the answers—but they do believe in asking better questions.
This episode is a reminder that growth doesn't only happen in business. Sometimes it comes from challenging our perspectives, listening to different viewpoints and being willing to engage with the world around us.
And yes, before you ask, they never did make it back to the original topic.

Welcome to Wildly Intentional, the podcast of business owners who refuse to play small.
SPEAKER_01This is where we'll have bold talks, honest conversations and dig into what it really takes to create big breakthroughs in business and in life.
SPEAKER_00We're Verity and Flick, we're two business owners who have built, broken, rebuilt and grown businesses in our own ways.
SPEAKER_01And we're here to share the lessons, the mindset shifts, and the unapologetic decisions that have really helped us to level up.
SPEAKER_00So if you're ambitious, you're gross focused, and you're ready to do business on your own terms. You're in exactly the right place. So let's get wildly intentional. Good morning. Hello.
SPEAKER_01You okay?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think that's pretty much where we are this morning. The coffee has only just entered the room. It's very easy.
SPEAKER_01Coffee has been delivered, which was lovely. So it just so that our listeners know why why I'm having coffee delivered, which sounds very um, very gauche. Very very gauche.
SPEAKER_00That's a tough that's a big word for this time of the morning.
SPEAKER_01Um so I went to make a coffee this morning before I jumped on the call with Varity, and as I poured the hot water in, the milk curdled, and I was already running a couple of minutes late, and so it was like, oh no, I can't have coffee, I'm gonna have to record this without coffee, which for people who know me know that I don't really function.
SPEAKER_00I probably would have cancelled if I'm honest, it just wasn't a good match.
SPEAKER_01But thankfully, my husband just got home from a night shift and he heard the the the tantrum at the fact that there was no milk, and he's gone out, and not only has he gone out and got milk, he's then gone and made me a coffee and brought it to me while I'm on the call with variety, yeah, which is just you're a good end, Rob. He's he's a good egg, he's he's a good one. Right, I don't want to put it there because the last time I put a coffee there, don't do that.
SPEAKER_00That's too early to do that.
SPEAKER_01And it's really hot as well.
SPEAKER_00Oh mine is now the perfect temperature, and I'm a bit regretful because I'm not I'm gonna get rid of this coffee by the time we're five minutes into this podcast, and I'm gonna need another one immediately after. For reference, folks, we are very early this morning. This is like a very pre-work um recording, so we're both a little bit kind of not awake yet. So this could be fun.
SPEAKER_01We're not awake, but uh yeah. I I mean we did mention on the last episode the fact that you got on holiday. So, how was your holiday?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, it was amazing. It was just well, I talk about nervous system reset. I learned a lot of lessons over the last week about where my nervous system is and how bad I've got at regulating. So I'm like, practice what you preach fair. Um, it it's just it was lush. It was before I went away, I was like having really bad stomach problems, and then I went away and not a single problem while I was there because I was so chilled. The stress left my body the second I got on the train to get to the airport. Never done that before, by the way. Always driven to the airport. This time we made it a bit of an adventure and got the train, um, and that was quite good fun. Um, so yeah, I I just de-stressed for like a whole five days and it was lush. And Prague is amazing and stunning, and I stayed away for the from the fertility. Um, you should you should go there. There's a fertility thing on the bridge, and you rub it. It's very spiritual, it's very spiritual. Um, but we're obviously polar opposites. Um so I like around a mile away from that one. But it was really, I said to you earlier, it was really interesting because it was heaving, the whole place was heaving. But it didn't feel it. It was like even though, even like Charles Bridge, which is like the most famous bridge, was packed. You literally were bumping into people left, right, and centre. It just didn't feel really busy, it just felt like such a chilled vibe. Everything was really chilled, and it was just a mission, really. We just ate for five days, it was just a mission to see how many restaurants we could eat in in the five days that we were there. But it was amazing, and then we ended it on an evening kind of buffet music cruise, and that was lush, and it was really good until Paul got off the cruise and then twisted his ankle really badly on the cobbled streets. Um, apart from that, though, it was amazing. I loved it. I just like to go back, really. Um, yeah, so it was really nice.
SPEAKER_01Thanks. No, I'll I'll I'll be with you uh oh, I'll be honest with you. And uh you can tell us that this morning and we haven't had coffee. I can't even talk yet. Yeah, uh yeah. The first time we went to the airport via train and didn't pay for car we when we went to New Zealand and we got the train down to London, and then Rob was like, Well, we'll just get an Uber across London. I'm not I'm not paying for an Uber all the way to Heathrow, we'll just get on the underground, it's just the Piccadilly line, and we'll just stay till our terminal. And he was like, How do you know that? I'm like, because the amount of times I've caught the Piccadilly line out of King's Cross, but yeah, because we were going for like the best part of a month, it was just like we have massive, massive bags, so pouring those around on the underground. Maybe, maybe an Uber would have been better, but yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_00We just had like a little case and a little bag, so it was much easier. Although hard coming back because Paul had a you know a messed up ankle, so it was me lugging all the cases and um and Paul and Paul, yeah. He's a trooper though, he won't admit it, he won't admit whether there's something wrong. I had to drag him to um minor injuries last night to go checked out nearly a week later. I had to drag him there, kicking and screaming. Um but yeah, no, it was good, and the train was actually really easy. We just kind of got on the train and then there was a bus from Bristol Temple Meads to the airport, and although I did discover I've said my entire life, 47 years, I've been calling Bristol Temple Meads, Bristol Temple Mead without the S. I did not realise it was Meads. It's Meads until I was physically stood there looking at a sign. How bad's that? Um, but yeah, we just got the bus there and the airport shuttle and off we went. Although I will give a warning to anybody who's travelling abroad, um, security is a nightmare. Absolute nightmare now. So if now if you haven't travelled abroad recently, you now need to do your fingerprints, you need to scan your passport through this like whole system, and it was it literally took about an hour and a half to get through that session, that section. Um, because we're no longer EU members. There was a lot of talk in that queue about why we're not EU members anymore. Um but yeah, it was a nightmare to get coming back. It was really easy. Security was at the gate, it was really odd, but really efficient. Um, but yeah, going there at Bristol Airport, it was a nightmare. So if you are travelling, allow extra time to get through that because apparently it's everywhere and it's it's causing chaos. So just a heads up for anybody who's travelling.
SPEAKER_01We didn't I don't feel like we had too much of an issue when we went to Morocco earlier this year.
SPEAKER_00But did you have to do all that?
SPEAKER_01Um I don't think we have fingerprints, but we certainly have to do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think it's very new. I think it's very new because I didn't know that you could do it. You had to do it. Um, and it was only that my sister-in-law had literally travelled the week before that she said you might get a bit of trouble. Um, but it's caused chaos because obviously it's supposed to reduce cues, and it's had the absolute opposite effect right now. Of course I think to reduce cues is to just let everybody on without yeah. Um, but it is you still got to go through security as normal. So your bags have still got to be checked and do all that. It's just that so they're saying that it's to try and kind of reduce cues and things, but you know, it's it's a little bit dubious that we're all having our fingerprints taken at the airport. Paul did point out that at the time. He was like, it's interesting that we now have to give our fingerprints at the airport. If you're a skeptic or you know, you like a conspiracy theory, I'm just putting that out there.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00Beautiful thought, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. So now my fingerprints are on record somewhere.
SPEAKER_01You went to Prague. This woman went to Prague on this on the stage.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I do still get baffled by signs at airports, though. Like there was a um a sign as you were going through because you still got to go to passport control before security. So you've got to go through these fingerprint things, then you go to passport control, where then you know they don't want to be friendly to you, they just you know, I walk up and I'm like, hi there, morning, and it just like blank face. But I will make you smile, and then on the window it's got these stickers.
SPEAKER_01I'm not the only one that has that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I do, I do it deliberately. It's I will make you smile.
SPEAKER_01I will make you look like you're enjoying the day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. Um, I didn't I didn't achieve it, I have to say, but they've got these stickers on the window of things you can't take through, and it's like e-cigarettes, um laptops, guns. And it's like if you really have to put a sticker up to say you can't take a gun through security at an airport, we have some major issues in this country, seriously. It's the fact that they go in that order, yeah. E-cigarettes laptop, laptop, gun.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I suppose they're they're in order of of probably popularity of how many people have tried to take them through. Yeah, possibly. I imagine more people try and take an e-seag through than they try and take a gun through an airport.
SPEAKER_00I I would I would like to hope so. Yeah. I tell you what was really genius in Prague, actually. This was like this really surprised me. We were sat on our last day, it was 38 degrees, it was so hot, um, and we weren't getting the flight, we weren't really picked up until half past three, so we went for coffee after we got kicked out of the hotel. Um, and we just sat there, and all of a sudden, a fire engine tinder parked in the middle of Wencesla Square and just started spraying water everywhere. And I thought, what are they doing that for? And then everybody was crowding round and getting wet. They would literally go in there, and that's what they were doing it for. It was to cool everybody down, which stops people overheating, which reduces the hospital entrance because of overheating. It was genius, and apparently they do it whenever the temperature rises, they all go out into different streets in in Prague and just sprays the streets and sprays everybody around to keep everybody cool. It was genius, it was really good.
SPEAKER_01Fire service becomes a sprinkler service to just you know that that thing that you um I I'm gonna do a gesticulation, which is now gonna be any good for our listeners, but that um thing that you spot on your hose pipe that would like spray water and rot 108 degrees. What is it called? Little sprinkler system that you had as a kid.
SPEAKER_02I just called it a sprinkler.
SPEAKER_00I can't remember. I literally got to hop over, jump over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just called it a sprinkler.
SPEAKER_01Why are you being weird? I don't know. It's a sprinkler. I've not yet had coffee, it's still too hot to drink. My brain is not.
SPEAKER_00It was a sprinkler. I just have one of those my garden. Oh my god, the garden used to get so muddy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because it was a great idea until you realised actually, oh, where's all that water going? Oh, into your grass. And your kids are jumping around in it, so it's just yeah.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, I'm just replying to a message because That's all right, then apologise. Laptops on, which means I'm online. Um, up to date on host pipe ban. Oh, okay. Yeah, did you? It came down, we do have one. Did I know if we still do? Yeah, he came down. I asked Paul and he was like, No, I haven't heard that. And then we had Alison came down for the weekend. She was like, Well, there is one in England, so I googled it, and yeah, it sure is the day is long. There is a hose ban, hose pipe ban. Probably shouldn't have filled my pool up the day before. So sorry.
SPEAKER_01Well, this this goes into like, you know, how do how do people get that message out? Didn't mean so not if you're not on an email or if you're not on social media.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm getting a little bit back into Facebook though. It's really, really right. I need to talk about it. I need to talk about it. Sorry, I know this podcast. Stop apologizing, woman. Oh, yeah. Um, yeah, I need to talk about it. So you would have seen my Facebook post the other day. Do you know what it was off the back of? No, not quite. Oh my god, Rainbow Table Gate. Right, so I'm gonna call him out. We have a local councillor here, Rainbow, yeah. I've just named it that by the way, it's not official, you won't find it. Um so we have a local councillor. Now, this is a young guy, he's I think he's only in his early 20s, who has um moved political parties more than I changed my knickers. Sorry. He's like, he just can't make a decision. He started off in Labour, then he went to conservative, then he went to, I think he went to conservative. That might not be factually factually correct. There's a big jump between Labour and Conservative. Yeah, no, no, hang on, I'm gonna get worse because then he went to reform. Okay, then he decided he didn't like Farage, so now he's gone to restore, right? Oh, right, okay, yeah. Which are the even more racist version of reform. Um, so anyway, he's like he's mega religious, or he claims to be mega religious. Now I've got nothing against, I'm just gonna put a disclaimer here. I have nothing against religion whatsoever, each to their own. I have fully you know on board with anybody's faith. It's fine. I've got mine, you've got yours, happy to talk about it. I'm really curious. I like getting to know other people's faith and religions. I don't particularly like it preached at me. Okay, I'm not gonna preach my beliefs to you. Um, so don't preach yours to me. That's that's my planet. We can have an adult conversation, but don't come preaching. So I hate door knockers, for example, because it's like, no thanks. If I want to get involved, I'll get involved. Anyway, um, he's very he's very preachy and he's using his platform to preach the word of God. Okay, he's like seriously taking this.
SPEAKER_01I'm assuming we're gonna go with the word of the Christian God, because oh, absolutely, Christian God, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, anyway, he went. We've got a local.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if you've got as my bugbearers when people say the word of God, and I'm like, there are many, many there are, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, sorry, so Christian God, yeah. So, you know, the Bible and all of that. The things he spouted are just hilarious. It's actually really funny, um, especially his post today, but I'm gonna get to that. I just follow him now just for the entertainment factor, but it is why it does wind me up, obviously. Anyway, we've got um a shopping outlet called MacArthur Glen, they're all over the country, I think, but we've got um we've got one here. And outside Marks and Spencer's, there is a table, it's a round bench, um, wooden table. Now, MacArthur Glenn were proud sponsors of Brigend Pride a few weeks ago. Um, they went all over it. To be fair, they were really proud sponsors, they did really well. Anyway, this table, and nobody actually knows if it was painted for pride or not, because it was well, it wasn't the old Pride colours, but I think it is the new Pride colours now because they've got the new flag, haven't they? Um, anyway, this table has been painted. Yeah, you're not in. Um, the table has been painted rainbow colours, yeah. Right? It's just a really lovely, brightly coloured table. Yeah, yeah. There is no sign on it, there is nothing to say it's a pride table. You can make your assumptions if you like. If you're a kind and kind and you know, open person, you can it's nice to think that it's an ode to pride. Anyway, he does. But equally, it could just be uh it could just be a colourful table that brightens the place up, absolutely. So he goes out on Facebook with this post. You in fact, I've got to find it. I have to find it. Sorry, I've just got to just bear with me because I've got to read it exactly as it is, because it's just amazing. Hold the line, sorry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was gonna say I've got I've got some updates on this topic as well before we get we listeners. We do have a topic to discuss today. We will get round to it. It's just the fact that we've had a lot happen since we've last got up. Clearly, that we want to share with you because it is it's it's giving you an insight into us. I'm trying to fill here while she's she's scrolling madly through Facebook.
SPEAKER_00He's so like he's just oh my god, he's he's honestly. I really think the guy needs help.
SPEAKER_01You need to take him to Hemel Hempstead. I was there a couple of weeks ago, Hemel Hempstead, and they've got like so much colour and rainbows and decorations in the middle of their new town. It's just beautiful.
SPEAKER_00So well, I'm guessing actually, because I just found out last night the Prague's Pride Week is this week, and it looks amazing. I said to Paul, we so went the wrong week, it would have been incredible to go for that. It's all been decorated, it's all lush. Anyway, right, this is his post, right? So this was six days ago. Yeah, and this has gone absolutely viral. You can't even sit down for a coffee in MacArthur Glen for five minutes without being reminded of the latest mandatory ideolog uh ideology. This isn't about kindness or inclusion, it's about making one political view impossible to escape in every public space. Ordinary people are tired of it, they just want to live their lives without every surface being turned into a billboard. You can imagine the 31,000 comments on that post, it is being shared everywhere. The table now has its own Facebook page. Brilliant. Love it when we work even animal objects at Facebook page. Oh, I know, it's brilliant. Everybody's following this table, it's really, really funny. But the fact is per mandatory ideology, it's like it's not an ideology, it's not a political view. Um, I'm an ordinary person. Uh um I quite like Price. Exactly. Um, but it has gone absolutely viral. So obviously, like I'm just don't I can't get off Facebook at the minute because every time I put Facebook on, I've got this guy all over it and comments about it. So, and then he's put an X one right because he didn't learn his lesson from that. And he's publicly gone out and said he's had death threats, he's had which is awful. I don't advocate for that in any way, shape, or form. Nobody deserves that. But you put yourself out with extremist views and you're going to get a serious amount of backlash. But instead of just calming down, he's then gone out a day later, spotted at Brigend Library, a children's book on gender identity. This is not education, it's ideology being pushed on kids who should be learning to read, not being told they can change sex. The only place it needs to go, the bin. This is what he's spouting. This is a local councillor. He's replied to the complaints on local council paper, although the council have gone out and said, we are not affiliated, this is not our headed paper, but he has made it look like it has come from our local council. And he's just he's so racist, and then he's going out with um information about God, and he I've got to find this one because he then just shot himself in the foot even more because he went out and said, and I just need clarity on this because maybe I'm not reading reading reading it right.
SPEAKER_01Um I mean, I I bristle at that because how many how many children are you know taught the nativity.
SPEAKER_00Hence why I put in my post, maybe the children are being taught, you know, to um you know oh I can't even find my words now.
SPEAKER_01I'm it just makes me so it's not teaching them critical thinking, teach them all the stories, teach them teach them everything and let them make an informed decision. Maybe maybe I'm just maybe I'm just strange.
SPEAKER_00I can't find it now. I think he's deleted it, but he basically said it was all about religion, and he basically said that you know, this country that we're so proud of, the country that brought you the Bible, the country I was like, oh, and the country that bought you the English language, and I was like, um, first of all, English language is three owls in a trench coat hiding as a language. It's so influenced by the world. I wasn't aware that and also, you know, he's Welsh, by the way, not English. Um, you know, he represents the Welsh constituency. That is a language. I felt like putting actually no, actually, the Welsh spoke Welsh until the English invaded us um and made us take on this language, and actually, England didn't come up with the English language first either, and we certainly didn't come up with the Bible. And I was like, this person you're following, this Jesus that you're following, wasn't he from Jerusalem? Yet you are avidly against anybody who is not white British. There are so many contradictions in this guy. And I honestly think he's not well. I really do, because he's going out and spouting this stuff and he's taking this really religious stance. And obviously, there's a role because it's like you shouldn't be using your position to do this, you should be using your position to help your constituents, not spread, you know. And he thinks that the hate is being spread on him. And I'm I said to Paul the other day, how he hasn't been arrested, I don't know, because there is it keeps going on about freedom of speech. Let me tell you something now about freedom of speech. We all have a right to freedom of speech. We should absolutely be able to share and have debates and talk about our opinions, and we don't all have to agree on the same subjects. However, there is a massive difference between freedom of speech and breaking discrimination laws and inciting hate and inciting racism, and that's what he's doing. I really don't understand how he hasn't been arrested for inciting. Racism and um sexism and everything else. He's inciting because the comments of out of those 31,000 comments, and that's just his post, it's literally gone to millions of people. Um, we obviously had the avid followers of parties like Restore who would you know keep spreading the word, and there was some really aggressive comments on there towards the LGBTQIA plus community, and it was like you are incited hate, you are absolutely it this is a reality of people in that community who are hiding themselves again just like they were in the late 80s and the 90s, hiding themselves again because they fear for their lives and their safety because of the hate that is being spouted now from prominent political figures. It's terrifying. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Although, um, yeah, it's it's it's it's so wrong. And I've actually I've got myself a couple more trolls um since last week on this topic, because one of my friends, um, Katie Neaves, she is a very proud trans woman. Um, her business is called Cool to Be Trans. Um, she's a massive trans advocate, and she's documented her entire story. Um, she's a fascinating, fascinating woman. She was trolled by JK Rowling. Um, yeah, yeah, she's because she's that well known.
SPEAKER_00Oh, she just needs to get back in her box.
SPEAKER_01Um, I should be talking about JK, not Katie.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Gutted. Love Harry Potter, absolutely gutted.
SPEAKER_01Um, but Katie put up a post on TikTok and it was a lovely, lovely um poem that she'd written about fear and fear mongering and how um people in power are using fear to control the masses, which is why the comment that I put on your post says um so the comment that I put on Verity's post for the benefit of our listeners um was you know, you asked the question about why is there so much fear in the world, why is so much fear? And I said the fact that because the sheep are easier to control when they fear the bite of the dog. The farmer knows the dog is not going to bite, but he wants the sheep to feel the fear of the dog bite so that they can be penned in, so that they can be um corrolled. Um, but yeah, so Katie put this lovely poem all about fear. Um, you know, fear the immigrants, fear the fear the trans, fear anybody who's different, fear, fear, fear. Um, I'm paraphrasing because that is not the poem. It's beautiful. And I put a comment saying, you know, along the same lines of you know, um, absolutely 100% agree with you, Katie. Um this is this is not somebody who speaks for me. Um, as a trans woman, you are welcome in any space where I am. Um I do not, you know, I do not want to separate trans women from women, from cisgendered women. And of course, I got a couple of comments from that saying, you don't speak for me. And I was like, I never I never said in my comment that I speak for all women. I was speaking for myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're your um and oh these comments were just coming back, and then they went into my private messages, and they're like from obscure cat accounts that you know they've got no profile, no videos, no, and I'm like, you can't even be bold enough to put a face to your view. That tells me the fact that you're in the wrong because you have to hide who you are to put that view across, right?
SPEAKER_00It's it's just it's terrible, it's absolutely terrible. I saw a brilliant video the other day. Um, it was from a guy who right, and first impressions, right? And if you're gonna kind of bring biases out and things, you look at this guy, he is head-to-toe tattoos, and you would think that his opinion was going to be the exact opposite of what it was. And he came out, and I said this all along with the whole trans debate since the High Court ruling and the whole toilet gate and all of that issue. Um, he came out and he said, While everybody's like having a go at transgender women and how women don't feel safe in their toilets, he said, um, so if biological women have to, or if biological men who are transgender women have to use men's toilets, is anybody considering the safety? And I think we said this on the podcast when we didn't.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. We we always talk about trans women, we don't talk about trans men.
SPEAKER_00No, absolutely. Imagine, and imagine a transgender man going into a female toilet, and that was the point he was making, because I said in the last podcast, you cannot put a transgender woman in a male toilet, it would put them in danger. Yeah, but he went the opposite way and said, What if you're a woman going into the woman's toilets and you see a transgender man walking into those toilets? Now, this is somebody who's been on hormone replacement treatment or not HLC, what the testosterone treatment. So they've got facial hair, full facial hair, they present very much like he worded it as a big ass burly man. Um his words, not mine. Um, they walk into the women's toilets. Who are you really fearing? Are you fearing the person that comes in who presents as a man, or are you fearing the transgender woman who is presenting as a woman? He said, You can't have it always. So he said, if if I decide that I, you know, if somebody decides that they're going to um transition to be a man and they now have to use the women's toilets, surely that is going to be far more intimidating for a woman than a transgender woman. Of course it is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But nobody talks about that.
SPEAKER_00They don't. And as somebody who has been attacked in the toilet, has been trapped in a toilet with a man, I can categorically tell you bring me a transgender woman any day and I will hold her hand. For safety, for my safety, I will hold her hand and her safety. Bring a man into the toilet, transgender man or cis man, I am going to fear for my safety. I've been in that situation. I've never ever felt unsafe with a transgender woman. Anyway, we're just like we're going off on what now.
SPEAKER_01I think this might end up being the Women Gone Wild episode.
SPEAKER_00It might be, yeah. I almost feel like I'm going to say this, and you're going to hate me for this, because we do need to talk about what we want. We're going to talk about, but I almost feel like we've been doing this for nearly half an hour now. This needs to be a topic on its own, and maybe we need to record another one based on what we were actually going to talk about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. Um, no, the the only other comment I was gonna say is the fact that I saw a video the other day and I thought it was brilliant because you know, for everybody who's in Restore, and you are entitled to your opinion, absolutely. Um, but I saw a video and it was beautiful of like, if you believe that life begins at conception, then every male that is on the planet is transgender. Yeah. Because every embryo is female until it until it changes to being a male.
SPEAKER_00So therefore, you know, I love that argument because and it can it fell down when Trump came out and said it when I mean he started this all where he kind of came out and said that it's it's at and Charlie, what's his name, who you know, sadly, yeah, who sadly, you know, got killed, which I fundamentally don't agree with, by the way, um, regardless of views. But they came out and said it starts at conception, and the argument straight away was well, if you want to bring science into it, then all males are female, because at conception stage they are all female, and it just shot their argument down completely.
SPEAKER_01I uh well, I sent the video to again Katie Neaves, and I just said, So there you go. The next time a troll tells you, you know, you you're a man, just say the fact that you restored factory settings. Which she laughed at. She was like, Brilliant, I might do that next time. Um the it just yeah, so any any trans woman, all you've done is you have restored factory settings. You have gone back to yeah, you know, back to where you started. Yeah, back to where you started. You're no longer trans, you're you're you are.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you were can conceptualized, concept, concept. Oh, I don't know the word I'm looking for, but anyway. Yeah, that was definitely women gone wild. That that was a not expected episode, but I had to share about this counsellor and you know spread that message far and wide, people. This counsellor needs some serious psychiatric help. I'm sorry, but it's just uh talk about me. We're not apologizing for that. No, I'm not apologizing, no. Um, it is an absolute abuse of power, absolute abuse of power at its best. And well, he's getting the response he deserves. But anybody who actually goes out and backs him, seriously, there are so many counsellors out there and psychiatrists that you could go and see. Just please, just go and use one of them because they're brilliant and they're very clever at what they do.
SPEAKER_01And you need some help on this on this topic as well. I remember um so at the weekend I went out with my mum and my aunt, and and the topic of of trans, I can't even remember how it came about, but the topic of trans came about. And uh my aunt sat down and she was like, But what do they want? And I was like, to be accepted, to to not be challenged, to just live their lives. They don't want to have to explain themselves or be asked 30 questions about how they have sex or or how they live their life or what made them do this. It's you know, it's like asking you what made you dye your hair. Well, because you, you know, it's it's so nonsensical. It's like she was like, Yeah, but don't they have that? And I was like, no, that's why we're still protesting, that's why there's still prides, that's why there's still um trans marches, there's that you know, because they aren't being left alone, they aren't being allowed to just live their lives, they have to jump through so many hoops to to get on to the medications they have more now than they have in 20 years, yeah. And and my aunt just sort of sat there a little bit like, oh, I thought they had that. And I was like, Oh bless her. Like, she she, you know, she wasn't against trans. She just was like, but I don't why why are they still marching? Don't they don't they have everything? And I was like, No, it's been taken away. So I went into the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00But that's a really good example of educate yourself because you know, and that's the problem with people going out and not saying they see your auntie because your auntie has genuinely kind of not understood the situation. But that is the problem. It's like people don't understand because I've heard it millions of times. Why is pride, why do they still get pride? They've got everything they want. They they're nowhere near getting everything they want, nowhere near it. Because what they had in the late 80s and early 90s when they went through their fight, yes, they got things like um gay marriage legalized and they got more accepted into society, but then over the years, we've literally what well, it just I'll never get past that line in what was the programme with Alan Cumming, which is amazing.
SPEAKER_01Tiptoe.
SPEAKER_00Oh tiptoe. I'll never get over the line, huh?
SPEAKER_01Did you finish watching it?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I watched it in like a night, it was just incredible. I was balling, but I'll never get over the line that he says, or his friend says when he said it feels like they brought us out into the open and kind of they gave us the perception of acceptance and they brought us all out for it. I'm paraphrasing by the way, this is not the line. Um, just so they could then see where we were and make us visible to them being persecuted.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and it does, it feels like that. So pride is is so relevant. It's so if you don't understand why pride still happens, it's because gay people still do not have gay rights, they do not have human rights as you and I would.
SPEAKER_01We we still explain it as a fact that somebody has to come out to their friends, to their families, yeah. And it's like nobody has to come out straight. No, no, nobody like it's just this assumption of.
SPEAKER_00I have always said to my children, don't you dare ever come out to me. Don't you ever come out to me and tell me to bring who you love home is that simple. You will never get questioned.
SPEAKER_01You yeah, and you know, there are people who are asexual who are not attracted to anybody, and you don't want to partner, and you you know, just okay, bring bring yourself home and say, you know, but my children will never have to explain to me who, why, what, whatever they love, whether they do or not, they'll never have to explain that to me.
SPEAKER_00They will never have to come out to me because it just in my in my mind it doesn't exist. It's you love who you love or you don't love. It's is and actually I am in that situation. I won't go into detail with that, but I I do know the situation that you've just described, and it's there's no explanation needed for that, it's just it is what it is, it's who you are, it's fine.
SPEAKER_01There's no until we stop the questions of you know, and when you're saying about oh, um, you know, these children's books are are forcing you know kids to to for ideologies and stuff like that, and it's like yeah, but how many kids play, you know, uh parents when they go off to to nursery or to you know things, kind of like, oh, is he your boyfriend? Oh, is he is she your girlfriend? But it's always opposite gender to opposite gender. It's never, you know, best friends come home, and it's like, are we best friends? Are we more than best friends? Like, you know.
SPEAKER_00And actually, I think, like I put in my Facebook post, what books like that do is show children that everybody is unique and different, yeah, and they grow up being accepting of everybody. It's not gonna turn a child gay or transgender or anything else because they've read a book. It's a ridiculous that's the ideal of ideology. The fact that people think a book can turn a child or talking about it in school can turn a child. I hate to tell you this, people. You are born how you're born. It doesn't come from education, it doesn't come from reading a book or seeing a colored table, it comes from your genes and how you are born. There is there's nothing that's gonna convince you otherwise. If anything, if somebody reads a book and comes out, I'm gonna use that expression, comes out off the back of it, it's because that book made them feel safe to do that, not because the book told them they were gay or you know, whatever they wanted to be. That's not the book telling them to change, it's telling them that it's okay to be who they are, who they are naturally. And it's the most natural thing in the world to be who you are. Sorry. I can't think of a name right now, but I think it's not where we were. I'm back on my soapbox.
SPEAKER_01Um that it's of slightly I can't think of a name right now. But she's um she's an American lady and she has studied theology, she has read the Bible cover to cover so many times, and she will pull out obscure quotes from the Bible. Now I haven't fact-checked her, I haven't, um, you know, but she's literally holding the Bible when she's reading from it. Um, so I do kind of trust it. Um, and she's like, you know, all these people who spout scripture to to say the fact that you know it it's not in the Bible and stuff like that. Um, she'll pull out quotes from the Bible that actually say, you know, I mean, it it's it's not a new thing to be gay. Yeah. Um, there's there's Egyptian paintings of two men being portrayed exactly the same way as they would do a married couple as a male and female, sorry, married couple.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's not a new sensation, but you know, acceptance and tolerance is is the problem.
SPEAKER_00The problem I have with people who spout religion to that extent, the counselor, not the woman you're talking about, is that they will weaponize Christianity, they will weaponize the Bible and they will pull out paragraphs from the Bible to suit their agenda. Whereas, and I love the fact that this counsellor, particularly, there's a lot of people who are religious, Christian Christians, who follow him, um, not for because they agree with him, but just for the entertainment factor, I think. Um, but they will kind of go back and say, yeah, that that's that verse. Now read this verse that completely contradicts it. It's like don't weaponize Christianity, don't weaponize the Bible. You know, if you're gonna be really true to the Bible, then Jesus, and and I'm not religious, I'm quite happy to go out and say it, but the Bible says that Jesus was accepting of everybody. He knew right from wrong, but he was accepting of everybody. Everybody had a seat at his table. That's not what these people are doing. They are saying that you only have a seat at my table if you're white, straight male.
SPEAKER_01I saw somebody, I think it was during Pride Month again. I don't think it was another video, either TikTok or Instagram. Can't remember what it was. And it was like, you know, oh, this whole argument about that that Jesus was against gay people, Jesus was uh and it's um and I the comment was something along the lines of the fact that yeah, but Jesus died for my sins, so I can be as simple as I want because he he's already died for them, so I can do whatever I want, darling. And I was like, I quite liked that as a response.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I had one the other day. I said to Paul, right, and this is really controversial, so I you know I am gonna apologize for this if it upsets anybody, but I am saying it in jest. But I said to Paul, I'd like to say to this counsellor, do you believe that Jesus is with you all the time? And he will say yes, and I'm gonna say, but does that not make him an illegal immigrant then? If he's here with you all the time, he's not from Britain, he doesn't have a visa. So would that not make Jesus an illegal immigrant?
SPEAKER_01No, such a text, but you know, no, yeah. I've I've watched the uh Daniel Sloss uh comedian, very well-known comedian, love him, and uh he says that that you know, people who think that Jesus is white, it's like if he'd been a white man in Jerusalem, that would have been the fucking miracle.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean you just said that. Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Have you seen this bloke? He's turning water into white, he's a different colour! Yeah, absolutely. He's the colour of a snowman, or whatever they are.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it just makes me crack about laugh every single time. But it's weaponised, isn't it? It's just it's used as it's used as an excuse. And if Jesus ever did exist, I think he was probably um the first communist. He just knew right from wrong and stood up for what he believed in, and it's as simple as that. That's my kind of view on it. And he wouldn't have stood up for this tribe that's going out now.
SPEAKER_01I think that wasn't what we were gonna talk about. We have to do the episode we were gonna talk about another time. Yeah, so sorry. I don't think we've got any more words of wisdom other than you know, just don't be a bigot. Yeah, it's been another entertaining Women Gone Wild episode, I think.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, absolutely. And Councillor Owen Clatworthy, you are a tool. I just want to put that out there. You are really, really something else. I've got a really good counsellor friend who could help you if you need it, and I think you do. I think it is on that note. Um right, see you soon. See you next time. Bye.
