– Life Lately

SPEAKER_00

Hi guys!

SPEAKER_01

So excited to be back this week. Mary, what have you been up to?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I've been dealing with middle school boys and basketball. So that has been my life.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my goodness. I can't, I can't even imagine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. It's been busy feeding hungry teenagers before their games. So bittersweet to have it over. Uh, this is my son's last year playing in middle school. So uh a little bit bittersweet there, but honestly, I'm happy to have my evenings back and not have dinner be a free-for-all out the back of my car.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. I it's like I can't wait for my kids to be in like some kind of like sport type thing, but then also don't want it to happen because I know how crazy it gets.

SPEAKER_00

It's such a commitment for parents, too. And the parents who do travel whatever with your child, I tip my hat to them because I don't know how they do it traveling all the time. We we just do middle school basketball and it overwhelms me enough for the whole season. Jeesh, I I I'm exhausted for you. So, how how have you been? How many diet cokes have you had today? I've only had one Diet Coke.

SPEAKER_01

I'm shocked. I know I know I'm shocked. But listen, can I tell you how happy I am now that Diet Cherry Cokes are back in stores? I got my delivery the other day. Uh and my Diet Cherry Coke came and it's just the best. Because I hated, I absolutely hated um the Cherry Coke Zero. Like, I don't know, like it gave me the worst headaches. Coke, if you're out there listening, I'm so excited you brought this back. Please don't take it away again.

SPEAKER_00

Please,

– Bookish Buzz

SPEAKER_00

please, as her co-host, don't take it away again.

SPEAKER_01

Um, did you see the off-campus trailer?

SPEAKER_00

I did.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. I'm obsessed. Like, I can't wait. I need it. I need it yesterday. Like, that's how bad I need it.

SPEAKER_00

It looks like it's going to be so good. And hopefully, people will do like a read watch party. Maybe we need to do a read watch party.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I would so be down for that.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I'm thinking that could be really, really cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I I love this idea. Listeners, if you want this, let us know. Is this something you would want? Because I'm down for it. I know. I feel like I've been waiting for this for years. All right. Well, today we wait, what did I decide we're calling this? Boy garden in bloom. That's right. Welcome to the boy garden is in bloom. There we go. It is. It is spring training. Spring training means baseball time. So, what better way to celebrate than some of our favorite baseball romance recs?

– Baseball Romance Recommendations

SPEAKER_00

Yes. And I have to admit, baseball's not normally a romance book sport that I read. So my racks are definitely limited, but I do recommend them because they just hit all the sweet spots.

SPEAKER_01

My gosh, Mary, I have so many recommendations for you. I oh, those those baseball pants, I'm just saying, yes, please. So I guess I'll start us off. This should surprise no one, but um, my first recommendation is Picture Us by Molly Gowens. I'm obsessed with her Boston Blue series. This is interconnected and Picture Us is book one. And you can definitely read them out of order because if you're like me, I also really love Coach Me, which is book two. And I almost like I almost put Coach Me as my recommendation because like I almost like it just a little bit more. But that that book one, it just holds a special place in my heart.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes the first in series just do, like they just the first in series just that's it.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yeah, and it's brother's teammate, so yes, please. And and there's a little twist in there when um when you get to that like third act. So I liked it. I she usually I can see that coming a mile away, but she got me on that. So that's all I'm gonna say. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, but it's brother's teammate.

SPEAKER_00

Don't you love it when authors like you feel like you know what's gonna happen, and then they throw that curveball in there and you're like, oh, that was good. That was that was good. I didn't see that one coming.

SPEAKER_01

Miss Catherine Cowles is the queen of this, and you know, she's like one of my favorite authors. So, like, I literally have my murder board go in when I'm reading a new book of hers because I'm like, okay, I'm I'm going to figure this out. I still haven't figured it out before it tells us. So I will not be a good investigator, but I'm nosy enough. I just I guess I'm just too gullible. I don't know. Sorry, I got us off track there. That's okay.

SPEAKER_00

And we met, so we met and we met Molly. Yes, uh, didn't we? No, she's I know she's coming to a meet and greet cute this year. Was she there last year?

SPEAKER_01

She was there last year. I I slid my ass in Mary's DMs. I'm like, listen, this is my friend. Please have her. Yeah, when they they ended up having some people drop out, and so she was a last-minute ad, but she she's amazing. I love Molly. She actually lives like 15 minutes from me, and she's been on the podcast. No, she's only been on the podcast once, but we've done a live with her.

SPEAKER_00

Fun, fun, fun. I remember I remember meeting her there, and it was just a really fun time. She was a fun author to meet, and my first time meeting her, and of course I bought a book, and so I'm excited to dive more into her stories. Yes, she does baseball really well.

SPEAKER_01

So, picture us, brother's teammate. It's a workplace romance because the FMC is the team photographer, the main MMC is the pitcher of this team, and they also become neighbors. Again, don't want to go too much into that because I don't want to give the story away. But it's just all the forced procs you could ask for in this one juicy book. Beautiful. But it's over teammates Will and Adam. They get traded to the Boston Blues, which was very unexpected. But Adam and Callie are siblings, and then Will has either two or three sisters, I can't remember, but they have this like crazy family group chat, and I am here for all the group chats.

SPEAKER_00

I same, same. If an author's like, I have unhinged text chatting in my book, sign me up. I love the text back and forth banter and group chats, and it makes a story, yes.

SPEAKER_01

And then there's no third act breakup, so which you know I'm here for. And I guess maybe like a microtrope, I don't know, is when like he spoils her, like because it's very subtle at first. So I'm like just here for this.

SPEAKER_00

Aww, I love it. Well, what do you have to wreck? So my first one is it's an oldie, it's been out for a while, but I have to say, it's the Grand Slam trilogy is two characters, three books, and a novella. And they uh it's written by Layla Delaney, who I actually know in real life. That is her pen name. And she is an amazingly funny human. And her story has a pitcher as well. Our male main character is the pitcher, and Nicole is a teacher at a middle school, and she sings. And when she first meets Gage Anderson, who is the pitcher, she literally runs into him and falls on her butt. And he falls first. It is definitely insta attraction. There is there is suspense, like there is not quite a mystery, but there is like that suspense where you're trying to figure out all the pieces of the puzzle that is keeping the two of them apart, but also at the same time keeping them together because after only a week of knowing each other, he has her living with him. So forced proximity 100%, and baseball pants. I mean, say less. That's in the book. I know. Kind of, kind of a little, little forbidden because she is the best friend of the owner's daughter. And so he just full out, spoils her, worships the ground she walks on, treats her like a queen, fills out his baseball pants, and gives her so many O's she lose count one night. So that that is my that is my first story by Layla. The other one is Earning the Save, which is a really good romance where one of Gage's teammates is finding his better half. And he had a really bad string of luck of falling for the wrong woman who was already taken. And so this is his story of learning patience and finding the right woman for him, too. So those are two by Layla Delaney that I recommend checking out if you like baseball and romance and suspense, because there is that there is that little thriller suspense, not quite mystery, but you know what I'm talking about, like crime suspense almost. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So no, I get you. Well, that's amazing. Looks like I need to add that to my TBR, my ever-growing TBR. I know, I know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and so so the Grand Slam trilogy, I think she has a box set out for all three books plus the novella for like 99 cents. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, it it was her very, very first book. And actually, I credit her for getting me into reading. She was the first romance book I read after I had my son. So that's like uh 14 years ago. What's our next book?

SPEAKER_01

Well, we must be on some kind of wavelength here because the next my next rec also is also another picture book, but it's The Fallout by Jenny Barra. I'm sure again, not another surprise. I adore Jenny, I just I love her so much. I actually have we've covered this book on the podcast a while back when it first came out. This book still lives rent-free in my head. The main male character, Christian Damiano, if I'm saying that right. It's been it's been a while, but need I say more. He is he is definitely top three book boyfriend material. There's a meet cute at a bar, and it's right after she has this like massive breakup, and he's a huge germophobe, so which I at the time of reading this, like I hadn't seen in a book before, and it's it's so funny. But you know, you know, they have a one-night stand, and she realizes afterwards that he is on her dad's team. So yeah, her dad is the coach, and when she finally goes to a game, uh Christian accidentally hits a puffin with the ball, and Avery, that you know, that's the FMC, she is a like some kind of bird doctor at the zoo. So that's how they have like, I guess their second meet cute is uh her dad calls her down, like, you have to help us with PR on this. Like, I need this this bird to be okay. I love I love when animals are in books. I do too. And Ginny, when she was like promoting this book, when she would go to like signings and stuff, she would have the a little stuffed puffin with her on her table, and it was just adorable.

SPEAKER_00

I remember, I remember seeing that on her table, and yes, so fun.

SPEAKER_01

And it's on uh Kindle Limited and audio. The audio is done in do uh duet with Connor Crace and Rose Di Oro, which I love them two together, and so they they made this book like literally come to life for me. I was so excited, and as soon as she had like sign-ups for ALCs, like I immediately went for it because I was like, I need I need this read to me.

SPEAKER_00

I love I love Connor's narration. I've had some audiobooks in the past that I've listened to where he's been a narrator on, and he does do a fantastic job. Rose is new, Rose Diorio is new to me, so I haven't heard any with her.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you should definitely check this one out. This one, it's a good one. You know, you got the one night stand to friend to lovers, coach's daughter, so it's forbidden. Got some grumpy sunshine in there, and he falls first. So definitely, definitely recommend this one.

SPEAKER_00

We are my gosh, we are like on total wavelength today without, and our listeners need to understand that we picked our book recks without even conversing with each other. And the fact that we are on wavelength with a lot of things just speaks to how much we're right up the same alley in reading. So, my next rec is the baseball card boyfriend by Krista Sander. I don't know if you've read it, Courtney. Have not. Okay, so funny thing, the mail main character's name is Christian.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, hilarious!

SPEAKER_00

And and all of our books, a lot of them, the past ones we've talked about, he falls first. So, in this in the baseball card boyfriend, he falls first. And it is um, it is a really, really sweet read. There's not a lot of angst in like that romantic suspense angst drama, which I really enjoy. Sometimes I just want that really sweet romance read with the spice that just melts your heart. And so our female main character is on a bus ride with a bunch of drag queens, and it starts out with her crying into a uh pie that she's eating, and she is eating this pie with a spork from the bus station, and okay.

SPEAKER_01

I have to know what kind of pie is she eating.

SPEAKER_00

She is eating so so the pie pies take a huge meaning in this story, and she is eating her own version of pumpkin pie, and it is. I'm trying to look through here to see what it's called because I did not highlight the name of the pie, knowing I should have known you'd asked me that question. But it's all about food. We're always about food. Oh food, diet, coke, and tea. That is how you can win us over. I don't know what type of pie. It was a it was a type of pumpkin pie that she had this fabulous recipe for and made. And I had to laugh because so she's on there sobbing into this pie with the drag queens, and they are trying to cheer her up. I don't want to spoil, but a lot of trauma happened, not physical trauma. Like we're not talking like dark SA or anything like that, but she had trauma happen to her, and so the drag queens are trying to cheer her up, and one of them just goes completely A-WOL over the fact that she's eating the pie with a spork that she found on a bus bench before she got on the bus. And so one of the lines I have highlighted was because the uh drag queen diamond told her that she didn't need the spork because she didn't want to get a bout of Coxasaki virus. Which I know, so as you can imagine, that happens. There is an adorable dog that she rescues, and Christian, our male main character, runs over to help her, and she gets amnesia. And so the majority of the rest of the story is her moving through Starry Card Creek. Say that three times fast, right? And moving through the story with her amnesia, falling in love, and meeting Christian's family. Christian is an injured baseball player, and so he was very adrift in his life after the injury and before he met Maggie. And it is probably one of the most heartwarming, sweetest movies or movies. See, it played out in my head like a movie. That's how I know it's good, but it is probably one of the most heartwarming, sweetest romance books I've read in a long time. And if Hallmark wanted to pick it up and make it a movie, I would not complain. Although we probably would need like prime or passion flicks, so we got the spicy bits too. Right. Yeah. But it had humor in it and loads of pie. Loads of pie. There's a little bit of break, there's a little bit of breaking and entering, there's a little bit of a fire, there's a lot of laughs. So that's my that's my second book. And I definitely, if you haven't read Krista Sander, I actually want to read the rest of the books in the series from this one because it was so enjoyable.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you've piped my interest. First off, let's let's go back. The spork. It was unwrapped on a bench.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, the spork. I know that's that is what Diamond was saying. She's like, you and she takes it, she takes it from Ruby, who had moved over to sit next to Maggie on the bus, and she grabs it from Ruby with a tissue to put in a plastic baggie. And then Maggie is explaining all about why she's crying into pie. And the the ladies, the ladies decided that it was okay that she cried into the pie and maybe she needed to eat more pie, but Diamond refused to give her back the spore and refused to let her continue eating the pie in tears with a spork that she could catch this this coxa succa virus, whatever it is.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that that's so funny. Um, my second question you you have pie, lots of pie. Do we have any American pie references into this?

SPEAKER_00

Like with We Do N. We do not. No American pie references. I know, I know. But I will say, like when Maggie has the amnesia and she has a moment where she eats a pie after their VE that they do, they're breaking and entering, she tastes the pie, and all of a sudden she remembers she could pick out every single flavor that was in the pie. And she started remembering all these recipes from her past. And so how they they fall in love over pie. And it is it is beautiful. It is on Kindle Unlimited, it is on audio, so for my for my audio, for my audio uh bestie. It is narrated by Monica King. And I don't know that I've listened to her before.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I have, but I will. I know. All right, so our final record. Of the episode, we can't let you guys go without mentioning the Queen Liz Tom Forday. You know, if I'm pronouncing her name right. If not, I'm sorry, Liz, but called up. You it's it's so good. Anything she writes is amazing.

SPEAKER_00

But called up has they need to know that I put in your notes about this book that Mary, i.e., me, lives under a rock, because I did not know about this book. Mary! You know! Have you not read anything by Liz? I have not. And it's hilarious. It's hilarious that you had this as one of the books because literally, let me see here. I have to look. It hasn't even been that long. My one of my coworkers sent me a note, no lie, and asked me if I had read Liz's books on Monday. So Monday of this week, she's like, Have you read the Windy City series by Liz Tom Forda? Tom Forday, Tom Ford, however you say your name, Liz. I think it's Tom Forday. But I could be wrong. Okay. But literally Monday, my friend, my coworker asked me if I read any of those books. And then I look at our notes for today, and I saw that you had that on here, and I'm like, oh my gosh, that's two people. I need to put this on my TBR now.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, it is so good. And caught up specifically, it's a single dad nanny vibes. I'm not really gonna go into it because I mean a lot of people have know about this book, but you you just you have to go read this. If anyone else hasn't read it, just stop what you're doing right now, stop listening, and just go read and you can thank me later. I highly recommend starting with book one of the Windy City series. Uh it book one is Mile High. Mile High. It's hockey related.

SPEAKER_00

Book two is right move. The right move.

SPEAKER_01

Right move. Yeah, it's it's basketball related. Book three is called up. It's baseball. Book four is play along. Play along, thank you. That is also baseball. Um book five is Rewind It Back. Yep, rewind it back. It's hockey. And then she just had a spinoff. I don't think it's a series. I I think it might just be one standalone book, but it covers the baseball team. So um, and it's like probably the most requested book once you start reading this series, especially once after you read Called Up, you will know why. But you're not sure.

SPEAKER_00

But I just bought I just bought Mile High, so Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I I will say so far, because I haven't read Rewind It Back yet. I know I'm I've just had so much on on my reading list that I have to read first. But so far, I think it's it's kind of a toss-up between the baseball books, which one's my favorite. But I'm sure once I read Rewind It Back, because the character that that book's about is my favorite character in the series. Um yeah, you'll probably know once once you I would say at least by the time you get to book two, who I'm who I'm talking about. But yes, it's just a such a cute, sweet series, all the H E's A's you could ever want. So thank me later. I will, I will, and I'll report back. Amazing. Well, you can find all these recs listed on our Amazon storefront. So check our show notes um and the link will be there for you.

SPEAKER_00

Yay! And before so before we move to the next part, I just have to tell you we hit a hundred views on our link tree. Yay! That email just popped in the inbox, and since I have it open, I saw it and I was like, yay!

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's

– Podcast Updates

SPEAKER_01

so exciting. We recently with this rebrand, you know, we we went back to the beginning basically. We lost thanks to yours truly. We lost a lot, a lot of downloads, a lot of views. So since you know, we were starting from scratch, we decided to start everything from scratch. So we made a new link tree, new website, new new, new newsletter.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, newsletter. Be sure to sign up for that in the show. The link is in the show notes. Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Everything we mentioned here, you can find it in our show notes.

SPEAKER_00

So now we get to the other fun. We just talked about our boy garden in bloom. We have to do our vibe check on what we are currently reading and some tropey tropes.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes. So I mentioned the last episode, you know, I've kind of been in a book slump,

– What we are Reading

SPEAKER_01

thanks to Miss Julie Ann. I did finish my first book since since then. So yay for finally finishing something. Yay! Um, but I'm still like, I just I don't know if my mood's off, my vibes are off, what's going on, but I pick up books and I just don't finish them. And they're good books. Like I started King of Pride by Anna Wong. Um because it's been sitting in my Audible forever, and I was like, well, I don't know what I want to read, so let me start it. And it was good. Don't get me wrong, it was good. I just I was not feeling it. So I stopped it and I was waiting for today because let me just tell you, Mary, I was so excited because you know, I've I've been out of my hoopla borrows. Yes, right, yes, I killed those very early this month. So I was waiting for today because you know, the last seven days of the month starts like the bonus borrows. So I'm like, yes, the first thing I do when I wake up is I pull up my iPhone, I go to my hoopla app, and I go to see what's on my bonus borrows. Let me tell you, I was so excited because I had S Mastery on there.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh, we love, we love Sarah. Sarah is awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I was I've only read like one book of hers so far. So I was like, ooh, let me click borrow. I go to click borrow, and do you know, do you know what Hoofla told me? It told me that I have exceeded my borrows. Uh excuse me, this is a bonus borrow. It does not count.

SPEAKER_00

How dare, how dare them.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So I reported it saying, you know, this is the error I'm having. I gave it a little bit, right? Right before we went to record this. And I click on hoopla. Now none of the bonus borrows are showing. I couldn't even tell you what's on there. It's just like completely gone. So you best believe my bonus bars better be on there tomorrow, or I will riot. I would riot too. That's so mean. I know. I know. I'm I'm so mad. But hopefully they'll have it fixed for me by tomorrow because I really want to start that book. I couldn't even tell you what the name of it is. Like I was just like, oh, borrow, and then disappears.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, well, I mean, it could she has a lot of fabulous titles. She has a ballerina one, which obviously we know that is right up my alley. And she also does co-writes with SJ Sylvus. Yeah, that's so I've read her co-writes, and then uh Brutal Obsession is the one with uh the ballerina in it. And so that is also the other one that I have that I have read. But it's amazing. Definitely hoopla needs to get it together.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, hoopla. If you don't know what hoopla is, I'm sorry, like if we've confused you. Hoopla and Libby work with your local libraries. Um not every hoopla and libbby is the same. Like some you have like five borrows a month. Mine, I only get three. Yeah, I'm saying.

SPEAKER_00

And what you can borrow depends on what your library has.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

So there are some, and I know a reader a while back that I followed did a list that there are libraries in major cities that you can that will either let you get a library card for free, even if you don't live there, or it's a small fee like 50 bucks to sign up for a library card with them, or $25. And so the larger cities obviously have more resources and revenue to have more books, but we encourage you to check out Koopla and talk to your local library about getting these books in there because many authors, even if they're in KU now, can have their books in libraries.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So definitely get on that.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, we're here for it.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely.

SPEAKER_00

We are we are proud supporters of literacy. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

But I will say I did, you know, I've been reading Chasing Wild by Elliot Rose, and I'm on chapter 28, and I'm I'm still hooked, so so that's good. Chasing Wild or Chasing the Wild, it's like a rancher, cowboyish part of the Crimson Ridge series, and it's narrated. The female part is narrated by Amy Hall, and I love Amy Hall, so yeah, I'm here for it. What are you reading, Mary? I can't give titles.

SPEAKER_00

I have to just tease you with all the goodness, and I'll have to come back when they're out. So I am beta reading a paranormal romance, and this can you say what type of paranormal romance? It is it is mainly Wolf Shifter. There are some vampires in the books, not as main characters. They play a intra a unique role in the stories. I can say that she does have four books out right now. And so it this continues on from those, the one I'm reading right now. And you can read the very first book in the series, it's Unawakened Fate by Amanda Nicole and Courtney. She does have audio. So I'm beta reading that and that next book, and am in love with it. I just love her style of writing because I can read it. And if it's a part where the character is feeling something where their heart's beating fast or they're having anxiety or emotions, she writes it in a way that you feel it while you're reading. And to me, that is just such a skill and puts me in the story, and I never want to leave.

SPEAKER_02

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

And then the other one I'm reading, the other one I'm alpha reading is totally on the other side of the spectrum and is a mafia.

SPEAKER_01

Roman good mafia too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this one, this one is good. And so I don't want to don't want to reveal too much about it, but definitely, definitely good and full-on second chance enemies to lovers. Stay less. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, not to take us off topic again, but when you said vampires, you know, I I love vampire romance books. Like, I'm just a sucker for it. Like, I want like a good, like, adult vampire romance book. Is that too much to ask?

SPEAKER_00

It's not. And it's funny. I know, I know that I have read some vampire romance.

SPEAKER_01

I just like typically most stuff I've read here lately is has been something else, and then there's vampires in it. Like, I want like just a good vampire romance. So if you have these recommendations, please jump in my DMs and give me all the vampire X. I I will take them 100% seriously. Like, I just want good vampire.

– What we are Watching

SPEAKER_00

I don't, I don't know if it's on Audible. The van I just had to look at my goodreads. Charlene Hartneday, H A R T N A D Y. She does vampire books. And the one first that I read from her was Chosen by the Vampire Kings. Okay. I'll definitely have to look into that one. So I can at least, I can at least recommend that one. And it did go on in the series. They she did have several vampires, but it also moved into a couple of Wolf and Fey, but it wasn't, didn't start out that way. It started out with the vampires.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll definitely have to check that out. Okay. So what are you watching this week, Mary?

SPEAKER_00

So I went back to a comfort show, and I am watching Avatar The Last Airbender, the animated version. It love the live action last airbender movie. Sorry. So so it does not, it does not hold a candle to the artistry and the storyline that you find in the animated series. I just that series, even my mom, my mom and I watched this when it first came out, and it covers so much. It is very much an adult cartoon. However, it also is really, really good, I think, for preteens and teens because of the life lessons that are learned in it. You learn about, you know, family betrayal and how you see two characters who grew up in the same home where it was not a fuzzy, warm, loving home, and you see how different they each turned out and how they either succumb or overcome their past. There's a child who's orphaned, and you see him on his journey, and it has so much in it. It has disability rep in it. They're one of the main, one of the secondary characters who's kind of a manish character. She's blind, and they do a phenomenal job of having her in the space and how she interacts with them. It has humor and it has stuff that will make you cry, but that it's my comfort show. I will recommend it all day, every day to anybody who has not watched Avatar.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I definitely need to check out the anime version then. I'm pretty sure I've not seen the live.

SPEAKER_00

It's not the blue people. Like it's not the blue people. It's not that avatar. So what is on your television this week, Courtney? Because I know, I know my girl, her Diet Coke and her TV show obsessions. So hit me with them.

SPEAKER_01

So nothing too, too crazy this week. Last night, Summer House came on. Let me just go ahead and throw a spoiler alert. I haven't watched it yet. I have to, when it comes on, like I have to watch it the next day. But you know, it's been ever since the first episode, it's been teasing like this huge fight. And I believe it's between Carl and Kyle. I know for sure Kyle. But um, but I want to say it's probably between Carl and Kyle. But it's been been teased all season long so far. And I think it's about to happen, or it probably happened on last night's episode. And then yesterday, Andy Cohen like posted how it was like Kyle's like worst episode yet, which if you don't watch it, Kyle is very, very toxic. He has some redeeming qualities. I loved him at first. Like it's I honestly, Kyle is what got me into the season. I wouldn't say he's as bad as Jax if you watched Vanderpump, but he's he's up there. But what got me started watching it is the very first episode, some of the girls from Vanderpump come to visit, right? And Stasi is there, and she's wearing like this high neck bathing suit, and he's like, Kyle's in the hot tub flirting with Stasi, and he like keeps on calling. He's so drunk, he's so, so drunk, completely drunk off his ass. And he like refers to her as Steve Jobs, like with because it looks like she's wearing a turtleneck. It is the funniest thing. So that hooked me in. So I've been I've been a fan since season one. But yeah, so I've I've seen every side of Kyle I think there is possible at this point. Um, because we're what 10, 11 seasons in, and yeah, so I'm I'm intrigued, especially after what Andy said. But what was not on my bigo card for this season is Carl and Bailey. Bailey, she's one of the the new house guests this season. And I want to say she's like a podcaster or some kind of like host on social media, but she's very quirky. She's the one I was telling you about that I didn't know how to flirt. Oh, yes, yes. Yeah. So Carl, he's missed a couple of weekends because he's in the middle of opening up his own like business. So the last episode I watched, she like texts him and was like, hey, or she might have called him. She was like, Hey, we need um to catch up. Let's do lunch. And they were very flirty. And it like, if you would have told me, like I would ship them, like I would be like, yeah, right. But I'm loving this. I am so loving this. I hope we can see like their relationship grow because I don't know, they're quirky. Both of them are really quirky. Like, I could see it, so I'm excited to see where that goes. And I also started like I should start another show because I have so much I'm watching. But I, you know, I blew through the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Like, so many people were talking about it. I'm like, well, shit, I need to jump on this train. Absolutely loved it. It was my first experience with um the real housewives franchise. Say that one 10 times fast. But I love Salt Lake City, so I was like, okay, I think the next stop. I'm waiting for Real Housewives of Rhode Island comes out beginning of April. I want to say it was like April 3rd. So I'm like ready for that one because it has Ashley I from The Bachelor franchise. She's gonna be one of the Housewives, so I'm totally here for it. She found her husband through through the franchise. So of course I'm gonna watch it. But until then, you know, I was like, I'm gonna start off start up Rony, which is Real Housewives of New York. Um, I'll watch it up until, you know, I get Rhode Island and then I will pause and move to that one. And I still need to finish Tell Me Lies on Hulu. Like, I I just have a couple of episodes left and to be done with it. But I I kind of don't want it to end because everybody in that show is toxic. There's so much toxicity into that, but it's like when you really just want to veg out and just hate everybody, that's like a good show to watch. And now with all this drama surrounding the Mormon Wives show, like with uh Taylor and Dakota, they remind me of the couple in Tell Me Lies. Like, I'm straight up, straight up Dakota is Steven DeMarco. And I'm like, it it's uncanny how much they're alike. So uh yeah, yeah, that that's what I'm watching. Sorry for my tangent.

SPEAKER_00

No, we love your tangent, and our listeners need to sound off if they are watching anything that we're watching or what they're watching this week. We may not be watching it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, tell us if there's something you

– Unhinged Thoughts of the Week

SPEAKER_01

think we should watch, because you know me. I'm I'm here for the Rex.

SPEAKER_00

Always we love the Rex. The more unhinged, the better. Exactly. Exactly. And speaking of unhinged, I think it's time we move into our unhinged thoughts of the week, where we take our thoughts, no context, no logic, just vibes, and unpack it like it's completely normal. So, Courtney, what's your unhinged thought this week?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. So, why am I wasting my life away at work? I mean, hear me out. What if I just stayed home and read all day? Like, I feel like this is what the universe has intended for me. So, if you got any ideas on how to make this a thing, my DMs are open.

SPEAKER_00

Times two. I I will be your book reading bestie to stay at home with you. I think I agree. We we should have fans and grapes and audiobooks and books and can lay out in the sun or sit in our home and read and make money. We should just make money off of reading.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know. If we just need to figure out how to make this a thing, because I will happily, happily do that. Until then, I'll be here in my HR dungeon. What about you, Mary?

SPEAKER_00

your unhinged thought of the week. My unhinged thought this week is why do weeds have to grow exponentially fast after you pull them? Like can't we have an can't we have a no weed zone? And I'm not talking the green leafy herb of our munchy loving friends, but the ones that consume our beautiful gardens and flower beds. My hands hurt just thinking about them growing and taunting me because I have to pull them. And so I found my best remedy for them is fire. Yep. My unhinged thought you heard it here first I take a torch to my weeds and it's rather therapeutic.

SPEAKER_01

Shut up. You have a flamethrower for your weeds I have a flamethrower for my weeds. Oh my gosh I would get myself in so much trouble.

SPEAKER_00

It's a good thing I live near nobody because the the pyro in me is loving every moment of torching the weeds you got to send me a link to this Mary.

SPEAKER_01

Actually better yet send me the link we're gonna link a flamethrower for you guys if you're like Mary and need to get rid of weeds my mine's pretty hardcore I have to admit my dad made it like he just took a propane tank and it's strapped on to one of those dollies that you can wheel around and then it attaches the flamethrower part to it.

SPEAKER_00

So you have a big enough tank that you can wheel around while you're killing your weeds and you don't run out of propane that fast. Not that our listeners our listeners are finding the they're like how unhinged Courtney's sitting here recording with me and is like how unhinged is my co-host did I really did I really get no my Papa raised me and any any of my friends or family could attest like this man. He made some crazy shit throughout his life so that gives me a good chuckle I really need you to send me a picture so I can have this visual when you when you go to roast your weeds there there is one somewhere saved on my phone that I will I will get and I will send to you but yes I I put on a pair of pants and work boots and head on out and burn all the weeds that I can burn out of my flower bed. I will mention my flower bed is pea gravel so it's not mulch. So I'm not like in in a position where I'm gonna set a mass amount of stuff on fire. Not that I don't want to from time to time let me say but we do have pea gravel around our house so I'm burning weeds in pea gravel so that that is a little a little safer and we normally try to do it not during a dry spell try and do it when it's not windy and maybe it had just rained earlier in the week.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow Mary I didn't think you could surprise me but uh but that did it well before we go why don't you tell the listeners give them a little a little tease of the guest
