– Meet Spicy Romance Author C.L. Rose

SPEAKER_02

Hey guys, welcome back.

SPEAKER_00

Hi, hi, everybody.

SPEAKER_02

How's it going? Pretty good. I'm really excited because we have a special guest with us today. I know. Our guest, first published in 2024, is a true crime junkie, an Amazon top 100 bestseller, writes spicy sports romance with swoon and humor.

SPEAKER_00

And she is known to cause some new kinks or two to be unlocked. Let's give a warm introduction to C.L. Rose, also known as Candace. Hi, Candace. Hi, how are you? Good. Thank you for joining us.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. What are you currently drinking? And is it strong enough for this conversation?

SPEAKER_01

It's funny because my husband always calls me a beverage goblin. I'm like, I'm one of those people who needs like the coffee and the water and the Alani and the Coca-Cola, like all at once. Because and I will drink them all. And then I'll have like also like yesterday's coffee that's pushed way far away so that I don't mix it. And then I just kind of sit there and wait until he comes in and like clears it out.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, love that. How many drinks are you drinking right now?

SPEAKER_01

I have got three by me right now. I've got a coffee, a Coca-Cola that I think is from today, but I'm not gonna chance it. And then an Alani. What Alani flavor do you like the most? So right now the lime slush is my favorite, but I do hoard the witch's brew. So I'll buy like a bunch of it and then like keep it through the year. So I love a bunch of that.

SPEAKER_02

I hear people talk about witches brew. Is that like a limited time, like I guess around Halloween? Yes.

SPEAKER_01

It's around Halloween, and I will absolutely my mom works at a grocery store. She's a manager of a grocery store, and she'll be like, okay, like it's in, you better get here. And I will go, I will fight people over this stuff. Like I will I will I will fist fight in an aisle if I have to. That is hilarious. Usually their distributor will bring like extras, just knowing that I'm gonna be there and I'll buy like I I have no problem buying like a hundred of them at one time and just being like, okay, I'll see you in a month.

SPEAKER_02

Like I love that. That is hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

So, Court, what's in your cup for the day?

SPEAKER_02

You'd be so surprised. I am on a water kick right now. So I have some flavored water with me. I'm trying to do better, Mary.

SPEAKER_00

Trying not to uh go through the diet coke like crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I'm trying.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm about I'm about as boring as it can get right now. I'm on plain water. So, Candace, on a scale of plotter to feral gremlin, what is your writing process like?

SPEAKER_01

It's like literally both of those things because when I'm first going to a book, I have no idea where I'm gonna go with it. Like I'll usually have like the tropes down, at least, at least some of them, like the main ones. But then like from there, I just kind of like let the characters take me where I'm supposed to be. And then when I get to about like three quarters of the way, like when I know that the the main like conflict is coming up, I will kind of start to like, okay, this needs to happen in this chapter, this needs to happen in this chapter, and then kind of like plan out the rest of the book, but that's when I uh already know, you know, what happened. So I do kind of try to let the characters drive the story because I find that when I don't, they do what they want anyway. So, and it's harder to like fight for them than it is just to let them do what they want to do. What they want to do.

SPEAKER_02

Love that. Speaking of your writing process, how in the world have you like popped out all these books? Like, good for you, girl.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I do it like full time. Like this is, you know, I I worked in radio before I started writing. Well, while I was writing at the beginning, I was still working in radio, but just with the industry, it's like obviously satellite radio is taking over, and you know, like the streaming apps and stuff like that. There I really wasn't making that much money. So it wasn't difficult for me to be like, okay, I'm done doing this. Like I need to to make another move in my life. And, you know, that's when I decided to just go full time. So I write all day, every day.

SPEAKER_02

Yay! That is amazing. I am like in awe of you because I could never that is when I was like, I started like jotting down all your books, and I'm like, holy crap, this is amazing. And they're like good books too. Like every single one of them are complete bangers. And um I'm like, this is art, and it's just art. That's all you can say.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely. I have a lot of stories going on in my head all the time. So I think that's part of it too, is where like, you know, you know like what you want out of a story. Um even if you technically don't know what the plots like where the plot line is gonna go, like, you know, it gets you excited because you're like, okay, I have this great idea for a book. Like, I wanna I wanna get it down. I wanna finish it. So that makes it easier too.

SPEAKER_02

That's amazing. Well, who has been your easiest character to write?

SPEAKER_01

I feel like my easiest character, honestly, just this most recent book, the one that's coming out on the 30th, red zone. Mm-hmm. I don't I feel like I don't remember having a hard time with any of it. Like I I feel like the characters were just especially Sydney, because she's been there since the beginning of the the series and she's been a an integral part of like everybody's story. I think it was just like a matter of like getting her, you know, getting to her story so that I could put that out there. But Steele kind of surprised me because I usually when I don't know a character, when they haven't been in anything before and they're like brand new to my world, I struggle getting to know them and I did not with him. So I would have to say, even out of the two of them, I think Steele was probably the easiest to write.

SPEAKER_02

That is awesome. Well, on the like flip side of that, have you had like a hard character that was just like super hard to write or just completely hijack a story?

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, I think the hardest time I had writing anybody was probably Arden from Double Play. Her anxiety is like a a mirror of mine. So there's a a scene in that one where she's like having a panic attack, and I started it from her POV. And the whole plan of that was to just stay in her point of view the entire panic attack and kind of describe it from like what she was feeling, what she was seeing. And it got so heavy to me that I had to switch it to Hawks POV and then basically just ask my husband, like, what do you see when this happens? So I think just being as close to Arden, like personality-wise as I am, I think it made it difficult to kind of crack that part of myself open.

SPEAKER_00

So it's a vulner it's a vulnerability that it really, and I did not see it coming.

SPEAKER_01

I thought I was like, this is gonna be so easy because I live it and I'm like, oh, this is not easy at all.

SPEAKER_02

And now I'm just gonna go sit in a corner and cry. Oh gosh. Yeah. Oh, that I can only imagine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and that's the one where like I can't, I can't look at reviews. Like, I if I have to go to the Amazon page at all for that book, like I I don't even look at like the star rating on it because I'm so afraid that people won't like that one. And I I always feel like it's the FMCs that are like that they have that kind of like depth where you know it looks one way from the outside, but it's completely different under the surface. I feel like those are the FMCs that always get the most hate. Those are the ones that I love. Yeah, I'm like if you hate Arden, like you hate me, and we're just gonna leave it at that. And I'm just gonna assume you hate me.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we don't, we don't hate you. No, and not at all. What is a tiny detail in any of your books that a reader will never notice, but you completely obsessed over?

SPEAKER_01

Probably the accuracy of the gameplay and like the the rules of the game and stuff like that. I really try not to be inaccurate whatsoever when it comes to the sports that my characters play. And like a lot of people, they would never know. Like even in scoring position where Ace like dances up to the plate, it's kind of like a Savannah Bananas type thing, but he's in the MLB. I was like, okay, they only have 30 seconds to get from the dugout to ready for the first pitch. I'm like, he he can't do this in time. So I had to like put that down in the book that you know he he managed to fit all of this into a 30-second time period. And I'm like, it just, you know, it would be so much easier if it was Savannah Banana rules because then he could just do whatever he wanted. But yeah, I'm I'm always worried that somebody's gonna be like, oh, that's not that's not the rule. That's not how it is.

SPEAKER_02

I had no idea that that was a rule for like MLB. Yeah. Only had 30 seconds. So you taught me something new. Sam. Oh gosh. Well, what is the craziest thing you've ever had to Google, you know, for research?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you've read my books, so it gets crazy, but um I did um no, actually,

– The Wildest Things Authors Google

SPEAKER_01

the first thing that I had to Google, it was during the Blizzard series. It was when I was writing QB Keeper. And I ended up in a Reddit forum and got some pictures that I technically asked for but did not want. Um, I went into a piercing form because I was like, can you wear a cock ring with a Jacob's ladder? And I couldn't find the answer via Google. So I went to Reddit and I'm like, hi, this is gonna sound really weird, but I'm an author. I'm writing this book. Like, is this a possibility? And those people share pictures of their piercings.

SPEAKER_03

So oh my god, did someone send you a picture?

SPEAKER_01

No, they they didn't, they like replied with the picture, like it wasn't even like a private message or anything. It was just like, here you go. Here's the answer to your question in photo form. And I'm like, um, thank you. I'm never coming back here again. Oh my gosh. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, no, the that was the the most memorable time that I've ever searched for anything. But honestly, just with red zone, there were so many searches. Like there was so much that I did not know about like chastity cages and different kinds of um like bondage and gags and stuff that I am not familiar with. And I wanted to make sure that I was using them correctly, so or that they were using them correctly. So a lot of Googling there was pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_02

I just had like a flashback because, like, you know, I've always been a huge reader, and I I lived with my grandparents growing up and during college because it was just like too expensive to live out on my own. And I remember like sitting at their kitchen table and I was reading Fifty Shades of Grey for the first time, and I didn't know what half of them. Yeah. So I'm like sitting here googling this, and like my face is getting so red. I'm like, I can't read this here.

SPEAKER_00

That is too funny. I have to admit, I've never read that one.

SPEAKER_01

That was where it all started for me.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like I feel like that was a lot of people's like awakening when it comes to like BDSM title.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Cause you should have seen my friend trying to describe this book to me. I was like, what? She did what?

SPEAKER_01

And the thing about that too is like we were a lot of us were introduced, and that was just like maybe not the best introduction to like a relationship. I like that. Yeah. And like being so like not young, but like unaware. I feel like I wasn't really young, just unaware of this whole world and wanting to like try it for myself and be like, what is this? Like, that was like the worst introduction. That's honestly why I'm so worried about accuracy and consent and stuff like that in my books. Because I'm like, what if this is someone's like that? You know, like what if they're reading this getting their information? I want them to get it correctly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. See, I was already I was already in the indie space reading and blogging when that came out. And so I think that's why I just didn't do

– Writing Spice, Kinks & Getting It Right

SPEAKER_00

it, read it, because I was in indie and I didn't want to do mainstream. And I just never, I've never picked them up. So when you're writing, do you have a favorite snack of choice?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I like will burn my tongue off with atomic fireballs. I just I keep them coming while I'm while I'm writing, and then I wonder why my tongue hurts at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so what is this? Because I've never heard of that.

SPEAKER_00

I have not had one of the I have not had one of those in years.

SPEAKER_01

It's kind of like a jawbreaker, but it's like cinnamon. They're very hot. Like they're very like, you know, spicy in that like cinnamon type flavor way. That is hilarious. And they're red.

SPEAKER_02

They're like your entire tongue and your lips red.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, fire engine red.

SPEAKER_02

See, I'm I'm the type of person, like I can't do anything spicy, even like chewing big red gum back in the day. Oh, that's it. I could not do it.

SPEAKER_01

I can do I can do cinnamon spicy or like the sugary, like the sweet spicy, but when it comes to like spicy food, like you know, hot sauce on my food, I struggle. Yeah, no.

SPEAKER_02

My my husband's like, yeah, you need the hot sauce or just pepper. And I'm like, no, no, pepper's hot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm the odd one out. We've got like two shelves in our fridge of hot sauce, and pepper is a staple of cooking.

SPEAKER_02

So you currently have three series out right now. You got the Boston Blizzard, which is football,

– Inside Her Spicy Sports Romance Series

SPEAKER_02

and then you have Daytona Fury, which is your baseball series, and your current series, Rock City Renegades. Um, you just released your fourth book in that Red Zone, and it's also football. And I am here for it. And I can't wait for this one because you know, I I recently done Mr. Irrelevant on audio because it came out not too long ago. So I'm like impatiently waiting for the rest of them to hit audio. You meet the FMC in Red Zone in Mr. Irrelevant because it's like it's workplace, but owner's daughters. And so the first one is one daughter, and I'm really excited for this next one because I just love the whole dynamic of their family.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, they are just like the best family ever. And Sydney's story, I feel like I mean, it really hasn't been that long. Like Mr. Irrelevant came out last July, but I feel like I've been waiting like a decade to write Sydney's story for some reason.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. Also, also, I will say Mr. Irrelevant taught me something that I didn't know was like a thing. Um, because he has what was it called? Why am I blanking so hard right now? Refract refractory? Refractory period.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, his no refractory period, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. I was like, what is this?

SPEAKER_01

And then I was like he's a unicorn in that way. Yeah, so he doesn't need any recovery for two rounds.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, what in the world?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was a little treat. This is a real thing. Yeah, he was really fun to write because you just like nothing was off the table for him. So he was fun.

SPEAKER_00

I have to catch up. I'm working, I'm working on the Boston Blizzard series. So I have to, I have to play catch up. And I fell in love with Run Game because I'm all about the dancer stuff and literally bought the book. It was my first book of years that I bought, and I bought it because of the point shoes on the cover.

SPEAKER_01

I love that book. I the audio is like, it's probably one of my favorite audiobooks of mine. That one just it it really like the emotion in it is just insane. I'm gonna have to listen on audio now. Oh, it's so good. There's actually one scene where Avery, the the female narrator, like if she's not actually crying in in the one scene, I like I haven't asked her, like, are you actually crying there? But I mean, like, we're all crying. Like, I'm crying, you're crying. Like, it's just I've never felt that kind of emotion, especially from like my own words. Like hearing it read back that way was just, I think that was my first, like, real time when I kind of looked at like this this thing I'm doing, and I'm like, holy shit, like I'm actually writing books that like might make people feel things.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely. I have to tell you, I highlighted on page three in that book where she says that we're just going to put it in a box, lock that bitch up, and donkey kick it right into the ocean. And I'm like, that is so relatable. It really is. Like, who doesn't have a box like that? You know, like never open that again, ever. And I knew it was gonna be fabulous when I'm not even three pages in, and I'm like, we're highlighting that.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, I love it. Also, in Mr. Irrelevant, like it probably has one of my all-time favorite fuck it moments slash Jersey moment. Runs up the steps to his house after the game. I was like, oh. It was like the perfect amount of tension moment.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Oh, the tension in Sydney and Steele is I think I think their story is definitely the most tension-filled I've ever written. So Maddox and Libby were close because it was like that that forbidden, like, we shouldn't do this thing. But just with everything that goes on between Sydney and Steele, like it's I can't really say it without giving it all away. But it's just there are so many moments where they come so close and they're just like, nope, we can't. And it's like, oh my, I was getting frustrated with them. I'm like, can you guys just bang already, please? Like, I'm tired of this. Can you get to the fireworks? And I mean they do because they have a one-night stand, but that's not what I wanted. I'm like, give me the give me the real, the real thing. And they made they made me work for it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. I love

– “Clock Play”… or Cock Play?

SPEAKER_02

it. Well, as I was noting this out, I put your next title of the series is clock play. But every time I look at it, my brain reads clock play. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You're not the only one.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, okay, no, I'm like so married to this title because it's perfect for his story. But I'm like, yeah, no, everybody's gonna see something different there. And I'm just like touche, though, really.

SPEAKER_00

It vibe checks with the story. It vibe checks with the story.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. I just had to bring that up because I was like, I don't know how many times I've read that. And then in my mind, I say cockplay. And I'm like, I'm gonna end up saying cockplay.

SPEAKER_01

You're you're not the only one. It's fine.

SPEAKER_02

Just a little Freudian slip. I'm crying. That's

– Upcoming Book Tease

SPEAKER_02

the kind of day I'm having. Have you released anything about the fifth book yet? Do you have like a date?

SPEAKER_01

Or anything it's gonna be about. Can you talk about it yet? Yeah, no, I can talk about it. It's I don't have a date right now because I'm working on two books at one time. Um God bless. And I've never done that before. So I kind of wanted to make sure that everything was gonna be able to get done. I'm shooting for the last, either the last week in August or the first week in September, which is a little bit longer than normal, but again, two books at once. So I will make, I will make sure it's it's worth it, worth the wait. And as far as his story, I think I think it's okay if I say that it's um Austin's gonna be getting himself a single mom. Ooh, we're here for that. I love him because he doesn't have a like the renegades are his family. His parents passed away. He doesn't have siblings, he's all on his own. The last like serious relationship he had publicly cheated on him. So, you know, the guy is just kind of not closed off to like just the thought of bringing someone into his life, but you know, he's definitely very wary of everyone. So he's kind of become like the dad of the renegades group, and he's just content with that, but he's about to get his socks knocked off. So that's gonna be a fun read. Same.

SPEAKER_02

That's and that's one thing I love about this series. Like every book in this series has some sort of like found family aspect in it. And yeah, I eat that shit.

SPEAKER_01

I love writing that. I love writing that. I like to think that that's how like real teams are, and I I know not all of them are, but I don't know. Just as a sports fan, it it makes me happy to think like what they're doing on the field, like they do off it too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, is Clock Play gonna be the last book of this series?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Um, but you will meet the the main characters of the next series in it. So it's gonna be a lot like QB Keeper, how you you met Rigza Monroe from the next series, like in that book. It'll be very similar to that, just because I feel like it slows me down to enter a new world with all new people. That was like my main issue with writing Mr. Irrelevant. And I like I got off to a slow start because I'm like, I don't know any of these people. Like I knew Jet from the Blizzard series that got traded, but I mean I barely knew him. So he was only in, you know, just his one little novella. So, you know, I was like, I need to do that again, where I'm bringing like a a couple from the one series and then turning that into something else. It just makes it easier for me.

SPEAKER_00

I love that, by the way. I love when authors have this whole world that they created and all the characters are kind of in the same world. And sometimes you may see a cameo or hear a cameo of their name being dropped. And to me, it I'm such an immersive reader, and when I read, I have like a movie playing in my head, which I know not everybody does when they read. And so when the author creates a world like that where everything takes place in the same universe, it just it hits different for me.

SPEAKER_02

I'm obsessed, obsessed with Rock City's world. So I can't wait to see what you throw at us next.

SPEAKER_01

Same. We're just gonna switch up sports again for uh for a hot minute. I I love football, it's it's like my favorite sport. It's I eat, sleep, and breathe football, but you know, sometimes you need a little bit of a yeah break from it.

SPEAKER_02

It's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, for sure. I just love sports in general, so whatever you got, I will follow.

– What We’re Reading Right Now

SPEAKER_02

All right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Mary, what are you currently reading? I am reading Contractually Mine by Jennifer Chipman uh as an arc. But then I'm also so I am actually reading two books at once right now. Oh my gosh, which is a thing for me. I know. I know. Aliens have inhabited my body. So I am also reading Chasing the Ring by Lauren Rowe.

SPEAKER_02

Fun, fun, fun.

SPEAKER_00

How about you? How about you, Courtney? What are you what are you diving into on audio?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I am doing the Dixon rule by L. Kennedy. Because you know, we've been talking about Briar U's universe for a couple weeks now, just because of off-campus coming to Amazon. So I was like, I'm gonna do the the second gen series. So I'm on the Dixon rule. It's not keeping my attention like her other series was. So, but I'm also I also started Inferno by El Wilder and Which is like her.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. So that is her, that is her very, very first series, I believe. Yeah, I'm a huge Maverick is a really good one. Like, if you're not into Inferno on Audible, I would say switch to Maverick.

SPEAKER_02

See, I I think like I like the concept of it, but I feel like maybe I don't know if it's because there's two different people writing it, or maybe if it was like the first child.

SPEAKER_00

She did write it with Brooke Asher, but like only on the first book, because like when you get to the second book, it's just her. But that was her, that was her very, very first series. And if I was going to steer you to start anywhere, it would be with Maverick with the Satan's Satan's Fury. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I see that audible.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. That audible is is awesome. I have it on audio and listened to it years ago on a plane ride and loved it. Loves the audiobook.

SPEAKER_02

What about you, Candice? Are you reading anything currently?

SPEAKER_01

I did just finish All Is Fair in Love and Malice by Jen Plummer. I get friend privileges, so I get all the books early.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, fun.

SPEAKER_01

And I I also bought, which I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet, but um Darling Daffodils Farm by Brittany N'Cole. I bought that last week when I went to the bookstore.

SPEAKER_02

So it is so good.

SPEAKER_01

It is freaking amazing. I can't wait to start that one. I just I I feel like I never have time. I feel like if I'm reading, I'm reading my own books and I'm editing them and I'm, you know, hardly ever have time to actually read.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah. And like, especially and like when you're writing too, it's like you like that's like your whole life. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I just like with with writing two books at once, I feel like I I don't even have time. Like I come out of my office at like five or six o'clock and then real life starts, and you know, yeah, I don't really get much of a chance to actually like enjoy a book very often.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I am in all of you, like I couldn't, I would get so much messed up.

SPEAKER_01

I feel yeah, no, I feel like if I didn't know Austin and like what I wanted out of his story so much, like I would be so confused right now. So I think that's the only reason why, like, if this was like book one of a series while I was doing this, I would be so confused.

SPEAKER_02

Well, what about TV or movies? Are are you watching anything currently, Candace?

SPEAKER_01

Just sports mainly. I'm the NFL. We're in the thick of baseball and and hockey playoffs and stuff like that, and obviously waiting for off campus to finally drop.

SPEAKER_02

I'm contemplating whether or not to take the day off because it's like, do I just want to binge watch it so I no one ruins it for me? Or or you know it's going to get ruined.

SPEAKER_01

It's going to be ruined. It's totally going to be ruined. It's going to be spoiled. Like those clips are going to be everywhere. So yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't think we have a choice. I think the day off. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. May 13th should just be national PTO Day, okay? Right.

SPEAKER_01

I plan on working very hard on May 12th to make sure that I have nothing to do on the 13th.

SPEAKER_00

Love it. How about you, Courtney? What's what's on your uh TV?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I am getting burnt out, I feel like. I haven't watched this week's Summer House. It's almost over. I haven't watched Rhode Island. I need to get caught up on that. But, you know, me and my husband started watching Millionaire Matchmaker on Netflix because season two dropped. And so that's basically the only thing I've really had time for. So just doing that for right now. What about you, Mary?

SPEAKER_00

Very nice. I am pretty much we've had baseball and the draft, the NFL draft on our on our TVs lately. That's been that's been about it over here. That time of year. It is that time of year.

SPEAKER_01

We have every single sport doing something, and I have like three TV screens playing different things at once. I'm trying to keep up.

SPEAKER_02

What is your favorite sport to watch, Candace?

SPEAKER_01

My favorite sport to watch is definitely football. Like I just I feel like because I have like such a a good grasp of like the rules in the game, just football. You know, it's easier. Whereas I'm I'm newer to hockey. So while I want to soak in everything and like make sure I know everything, it's a little harder for me to like, you know, to scream at the TV and do all the things I do with football and yell at the players when I can even kind of do what they're doing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I like watching football on TV, basketball and baseball, it's definitely so much better in real life.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like definitely. If I had to choose like what sport event I was going to, it would be a baseball game every time. Same. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Same.

SPEAKER_00

Just watching it live is so much better.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Give me the boys in tight pants and my hot dog.

unknown

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

And send a mask down every once in a while just to shake things up. Yes, definitely. Well, listeners, be sure to drop in the comments or our DMs and let us know what we need to watch, what you're watching this week, and what you're reading. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And now it's time for our unhinged thoughts of the week, where we take our

– Unhinged Thoughts of the Week

SPEAKER_02

thoughts, no context, no logic, just vibes, and unpack it like it's completely normal. So, Mary, what unhinged thought do you have for me this week?

SPEAKER_00

My gosh, what unhinged thought do I have for you? I had one and then it totally went out of my head. This is my life right now. You you go first and maybe it'll maybe it'll come back to me.

SPEAKER_02

So it's been birthday party central over here in my household. Can I just say not only should we just normalize meltdowns in general when you have small kids, but normalizing meltdowns at birthday parties, I am like like it, like sometimes I just don't even want to go just because I know at least one of my kids are going to melt down over something. And it's just like all these parents are like looking at you like what, like I can control it? Like, and which I will say, you know, we are working on regulating our emotions. Like Sawyer started play therapy this month. So I'm hoping we can get him a little bit better. But man, like just stop looking at me. If anything, if you're gonna look, come help.

SPEAKER_00

Like agreed, agreed. And especially if you're a mother, because I'm sorry, if you if you actually Yeah, no, there's no way your kids aren't doing that too or haven't done it or whatever. Like exact, exactly. So if you are shaming another mom because her kid is having a meltdown, like I hope you step on a Lego. I think my unhinged thought for the week is people who create computer viruses should fall into a bed of cacti and never be able to pull them all out. My my my mother-in-law, bless her heart, calls me because she's on a MacBook. And if you know anything about computers, Macs typically don't get viruses.

SPEAKER_01

You really have to try very hard to get a virus on a Mac. Like you need to be like in 2000s Napster software.

SPEAKER_00

Which even took me back. Which even still, I'm like, I managed not to get a virus with Napster on my Windows PC. So we're we're good. But but she calls me and thank God I think it was just a pop-up. So she didn't click on anything. And I think just a pop-up happened from some other web page she was on. But she calls me and it is literally blaring in the background that you are on a site that would steal your identity and that um do not turn your computer off or you risk losing blah, blah, blah. And she sent me a screenshot, and it's like popping up with your windows is infected. And I'm like, this can't even happen. Like you can't have windows. Well, you can. I mean, if you do a virtual desktop and all that stuff, we're not, we're not diving that deep. But like traditionally, you don't have windows on a Mac. And so I told her, I said, just push and hold the power button, turn it off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So always unplug it and plug it back in.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, I didn't, she took it to Geek Squad and they turned it back on and didn't see anything wrong with it. And so they cleared her cash and her cookies and said it looked good. I haven't had a chance. We've had a lot going on. So this just happened yesterday. So we've had a lot going on today, but my hope is tomorrow to remote in just to make sure everything's on the up and up because it's malware bytes is on there. And that pop-up should have never happened, anyways, if malware was doing its job and running the way it was supposed to. So I'm like, I'll try to remote in so we can see what's going on. I but I do think the people who profit off of taking advantage of other people need to fall in a bed of cacti and not be able to remove the needles. Agreed.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, when you said that, the only thing my brain could imagine was um in Lion King, where the um hyena like like shooted into the bed of cacti.

SPEAKER_00

It's been so long since I've watched The Lion King. I'm like, I don't know that I remember that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's I love how the way my mind works sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely.

SPEAKER_02

Well, what about you, Candace?

SPEAKER_01

Do you have an unhinged thought for us? I mean, it is, but it's like unhinged is my baseline, so this is like a little higher than that. I feel like I'm on a a a different kind of unhinged level than you are. Well, we love it. Give it to us. I saw a thread earlier that said, and I cannot stop thinking about it. It said, if a woman's downstairs is strong enough to bleach a pair of panties, can it whiten your teeth? Oh my god. And now I need to know. Like I will not rest until I find out the answer to this question.

SPEAKER_00

So well, and you have to drop us a DM so we can have the oh my gosh. But can we say that can we recognize that that's not healthy either? Like, honey, go, go, go get you checked.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but either way, I I need to know, and it's you know, it's gonna consume my thoughts. So that's where I'm at.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, I love it.

SPEAKER_00

That's I mean, it can bleach a beard. So we're we're not far. I mean, that has been proven so right.

SPEAKER_01

So, what does it do to your teeth? And is that good for your teeth? Not that I care. I'm not, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, but those are the questions that trigger down that rabbit hole because I'm like you. I would want to know, is it healthy?

SPEAKER_01

Is it like, am I wearing your enamel off? What's going on? Like they need to know. Exactly. Exactly. Do I need to get some special toothpaste next time I'm shopping? I obviously want to protect your teeth.

SPEAKER_03

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's the best unhinged part of the deck. Yes, that's the best one I think we've had yet. I agree. Oh, we need to get more unhinged people, Mary. Yes, we do. Yes, we do.

SPEAKER_01

I'm at your service literally anytime.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. I love it. I wouldn't expect it any other way. Well, Cadice, what do you have up next for you? Do you have any events or anything going on? I do.

SPEAKER_01

I have Signed with Spice is coming up at the end of May. That is in Maine. It's in Bangor, Maine. I'm really excited about that one. And then the first weekend of August, I think it's like August 1st, is romancing the Glass City in Toledo. Nice. Right in my own backyard. That's that's cool.

SPEAKER_02

Other than that, I like it when you you don't have to travel far.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. No, yeah, because Maine is far. It's like a and we're driving and it's 12 hours from our house.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But also like flying for me, just because I'm a wheelchair user. So flying for me is like difficult as it is. And then on top of that, I'm like, how do you get all the books there? How do you get all the equipment there? How do you get like the table stuff there? Yeah. I'm like, no, we'll rent a car and we'll drive.

SPEAKER_02
