Week 18: Wednesday, Ten Talent Christians
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The age we live in has more free and abundant access to Bibles,
devotionals, commentaries, podcasts, and other resources than
ever in the history of the world. The availability of it all places
tremendous responsibility on Christians. The five-talent man was
actually a ten-talent man. He decided to double and use what he
was given by the Master, stewarding it wisely. He received praise
and reward from the Master for his decision, and note that he did
this “at once” (Matthew 25:16).
Week eighteen, Wednesday, ten talent Christians. Today's scripture is Matthew chapter twenty five and verse sixteen by Logan Cates. I am Ricky Berger. The age we live in has more free and abundant access to Bibles, devotionals, commentaries, podcasts, and other resources than ever in the history of the world. The availability of it all places tremendous responsibility on Christians. The five talent man was actually a ten talent man. He decided to double and use what he was given by the master, stewarding it wisely. He received praise and reward from the master for his decision, and note that he did this at once Matthew chapter twenty five and verse sixteen. He did not put it off till tomorrow what should be done today. This applies to us. There will come a day when we will stand prepared or unprepared for the return of our master. What is a talent? The audience listening to Jesus would know it wasn't balancing on one foot or singing a solo. A talent, as they understood it, was a measurement or weight worth much more than they could imagine. Five talents was a tremendous amount, more than you and I could fathom. What can we compare this to? What about having a chance at life after you've been made aware that the innocent Son of God bled and died for you while you were dead in your transgressions? Start adding up the opportunities, abilities, and freedoms we have in this generation. Start adding up the blessings and what God has provided us and the spiritual resources we have? What are we doing with what we have been given? Do our lives reveal that we are investing in what He has given us? Or are we wasting it? Is our master getting a hundred percent return on his investment? When the master returns, what will he find? Today I will make a list of what I have been given and consider more ways to use it all for God's glory.
