Do you find yourself curious about God but unsure if you’re ready to start building a relationship with Him?

In this episode of Baby Steps with Christ, host Leigh Trupin talks about what it really means to be ready to begin a personal relationship with God without religious pressure. While many people want to know God personally, hear His voice, and experience a deeper connection with Him, Leigh shares why there is no need to rush the process or feel pressured to start before you’re ready.

Many people wonder where they should begin when exploring faith or how they can build a relationship with God. Leigh explains why resources and advice can be helpful, but lasting growth comes when you are personally ready to take those steps and commit to the journey.

Using relatable examples, Leigh shares how meaningful change takes time, consistency, and commitment. Building a relationship with God is not about finding a quick solution or experiencing an instant transformation. It is a lifelong journey that develops one intentional step at a time.

This episode offers encouragement for anyone who feels curious about God but isn’t ready to fully begin their journey yet. You don’t have to feel guilty or pressured. Allow God to meet you where you are today and take your next step only when you’re ready.

👉🔗It's Okay If You're Not Ready to Build a Relationship with God Yet: Start with Curiosity

Welcome to another episode of Baby Steps with Christ. I'm your host, Leigh Trupin. This is a place where we learn to build a relationship with God without religious pressure. Where we go at our own pace and learn we don't need a middleman to get to God, we can go directly to the source ourselves.

Today I want to talk to you about what it would really take from you to start building your relationship with God when you're ready. People ask me often where they can start with God and how they can connect with Him. That's my opportunity to lead them to my free kindergarten for Faith course. But if you're not really ready for the commitment it takes to build a relationship with God, it doesn't matter what resources are provided to you. It doesn't even matter if those resources are 100% free. Unless you're absolutely positively ready to start building your relationship with God, you won't stick with it.

And I'm not saying that to make you feel guilty or pressured. I'm saying it because I want to make you aware that building a relationship with God is a lifetime process. It's like any major lifestyle change, such as improving your physical health. If you're not ready to seriously commit to a new health routine, it doesn't matter how many programs are out there. Unless you feel ready for the commitment and the lifetime process of maintaining your health, right now it's just a thought you're considering. But when you're ready, only then will you be serious about choosing a path that works for you and adding consistent activity to your routine.

And when you see some progress, you'll likely be motivated enough to stick with it. Then, after all your hard work, time and dedication, you may reach your goal. But now you need to do what you can to maintain it. You need to seriously be ready for this type of commitment in order to begin and stick with a long-term regimen. You won't start and be successful with the process a moment before you feel ready for it.

The same is true with building a relationship with God. Maybe the idea is appealing to you, but you don't realize how time-consuming and difficult it is. And honestly, that's where a lot of us get tripped up. We live in a world of instant gratification. We want to find a magic solution when we want to see change. We want to start something that promises dramatic results quickly before putting in the time and commitment to do it the right way, because without a quick fix, the right way to grow takes more time to see the results you want.

The same is true for God. You want a relationship with him, you want to be able to hear from him, and you want to experience his transformation and see his blessings. But you want the instant transformation, the quick way of being able to learn to hear from him. You want a blessing now. And if you don't see the results you want from him fast enough, you give up.

But think about that health regimen again. If you only put in effort once a week, or if you only work at it when you feel like it, you're not going to see the results you want. You might see a little progress, but you'll get frustrated putting in a fraction of the effort and not seeing the results you want. The same thing is true when building a relationship with God. You want to experience the dramatic results without putting in the effort it takes.

When you're truly ready to build the foundation, only then will you begin to give something like my kindergarten for faith course a try and stick with it. Until you're ready for this type of commitment and the lifelong process it involves, you'll hear about being able to build a relationship with God without religious pressure and you'll think it's a cool idea. But you really won't think about it again until you're serious and ready to put in the time, the effort, and the commitment necessary.

Again, none of this is being said to pressure you into anything. I never want to pressure anyone into something they're not ready for. I'm just keeping it real on the type of commitment and effort it's going to take on your part when you do feel ready. And I want you to know that until you're ready, nothing you start to begin building your relationship with God will last. Because nothing will ever last if you don't start with it ready for it.

I'm telling you all of this so you know that when you do become ready, building a relationship with God is a marathon. It's not a sprint. It is a lifelong journey. If you're not ready, don't let anyone pressure you. Don't feel guilty that you're not ready yet. It's okay to be exactly where you are. Curious. You're not behind. You're just where you need to be.

Curiosity is the start of serious change. So until you do feel ready, start with your curiosity and keep at it until you're ready for more. Then take another step. That's what baby steps with Christ is all about. Taking small, intentional steps when you're ready. And if you keep taking those baby steps, one day you'll look back and see how far you've come.

If you keep taking those small steps, one day you may feel ready for that lifelong process of building a relationship with God. And that's when you'll seriously start it, not a moment before. So wherever you are in your journey, take the next step only when you feel ready for it.

All right. Those are my words of wisdom for you today. You know I like to keep it short, and to the point. So if you've enjoyed today's episode, please share it with someone you know needs to hear it. And keep taking those baby steps with Christ. Thanks for listening. Until next time.
