What if the person you think you're discipling is actually discipling you? The most powerful discipleship happens when people watch how you handle life's difficulties, not when you teach perfect lessons. God doesn't need your service—but you desperately need to serve Him. Are you trying to earn something from God, or responding to His love with gratitude?

Welcome to Build, a podcast from Danville First Baptist Church. Build is where Sunday's message becomes Monday's conversation. Each episode we dig deeper into what God is teaching us, talk about how it shows up in real life, and help you keep building your faith beyond the weekend. Let's get started. Welcome to Build, the podcast of FBC Danville, where we aim to build on Sunday's sermon and ultimately build on our relationship with Christ. This week we're kind of doubling up because just summertime and it's the busiest time of the year. Everybody thinks Christmas is, but that's a joke. Summertime is the worst. But so that aside, we're uh kind of playing catch-up here. So we're going to start off by shooting to Dusty, uh, where he can kind of recap what what he discussed the week before last um when he was uh in the pulpit. And then we'll hear from Daniel, and then we'll go from there. I don't know, we don't know where it's gonna go, but we never do.

SPEAKER_03

So that's wrong. That's true. True statement. So uh, you know, two weeks ago I preached on and you know, time of the sermon, Don't Start None, Won't Be None. And, you know, when I was growing up, that was kind of what our family would always say, like, hey man, don't start none, it won't be none. And that was kind of a thing like be careful what you start, because whatever you start, you're gonna have to live with the consequences. But I think in the church, sometimes it's we wonder why things aren't happening the way we want them to, and it's because no one's taking the initiative to start it. And so we looked at it from the perspective of the Great Commission, you know, go into all the world, preaching the gospel, teaching people to obey all my commands and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Well, what does that look like? We talk, we say it every week. At our church, it's so important that that's our life mission is to go out and make disciples. But really, what does that look like? And so I kind of looked at at Paul and Timothy, and so in 2 Timothy chapter 2, Paul says, you know, take the things that you've heard from me in the presence of many witnesses and teach them to others who are able to continue to teach them. And so that was just kind of, you know, the premise was all about what does real discipleship look like? And we looked at it from four perspectives. There's discipleship that happens every week in the church, um, you know, being in Sunday school together, going to classes, sitting, worshiping together, sitting through in prayer. Then there's discipleship that looks a little bit more intentional. We're we're gonna get involved in your life, we're gonna show up for games, we're gonna, you know, uh do life outside of church. And then there's the intentional spiritual, which this is the one that that honestly is maybe in some ways my favorite. This is where, you know, and we kind of had I kind of had pictures going on of showing each one, and so like I think this can really be pictured in one of the pictures I showed. And it's one of uh my favorite pictures in my camera roll on my phone, and it's a group of our young people at the altar praying and a little five-year-old girl standing in the aisle watching them. And I think we don't think of that as discipleship, and I think it's one of the purest forms of discipleship. What does it look like for mature, godly men and women to follow God? And so living that out in all circumstances within the church and outside the church, uh, and uh man, I just I love that picture of Piper because she is watching girls that she admires do spiritual warfare. And those girls at the altar, they think they're just battling against whatever they're facing, but in the end, they're also testifying to the realness and the goodness of God. And I just I think we we gloss over what that is. They don't care what you tell them when you tell them in a lesson, do this, you you put you put it to truth, you you prove it by hitting your knees in front of the world and saying, like, I'm struggling for Jesus. I want what's best. And then lastly, is really the prettiest uh view of it is when the people that you've invested in and you've discipled become your family. And so, you know, I I talked a lot about Drew Papazan, who's the pastor at at first Baptist Ola, and him and Kella, his wife, uh, my oldest daughter, man, they followed her ball games and they uh took her to church and they took her to different things and they poured into her spiritually. Um and they just loved her well. And then, you know, when he got called and ordained, like she went to support him and his first ministry. And like that's what it's like. It's not anymore like, well, this is my job. I'm supposed to be investing in young people. It's they're just family. And it really like that's the beautiful end when discipleship when discipleship is done right. And so really just talked about all those things like you can't get to the family part if you're not regularly showing up and doing church together. And you can't be intentional in your investment if you're not also making the in your spiritual investment, if you don't make them believe that you care about them outside of the four walls. And so it all ties together. Discipleship's more than one thing, and we think of it, I think, within the church uh two laterally. It's just a means to an end. And really it's man, it's just life. And people know when you're genuine and when you're fake because you're with them inside the walls and outside the walls. And if they see you being one way in church and another way outside the church, then you're not doing discipleship because they're not going to follow you no matter how much you want them to, and no matter how good your doctrine is, if your life doesn't model it, you know, that's how you convince people that what you say you believe is is really is really true. And so, you know, I felt like the message I I was really excited about it. We had a little candle visual, which I really was excited about. I think it was it it landed okay. I didn't necessarily land the whole sermon the way I wanted it to land, you know, if you if you know what I'm talking about. It was a lot of good content, but and and I feel like it's natural. What's next? You go out and do these things, right? But I don't know that I really uh I don't know that I really gave anybody a launching point the way I really wanted to.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I uh what I'm hearing is is you're saying is it's so multifaceted and it's not it's not you could do this kind or this kind, like it has to be all of it for it to be done effectively and efficiently. And we get like you say we we look kind of like it laterally, most of the time it's just like we look at one aspect of it, like I'm going to do a Bible study with this person. And you talk about that, but that's the extent of what happens within that. You don't get to really know them or that sort of thing, or you spend a lot of time with them, but you don't ever do anything with any spiritual meaning behind it. And so like it's it's all of those things. And you know, like you said, living it out with your life. And I I've you hear some people say, like, oh, I don't need to, I don't have to do X, Y, and Z because my life is a reflection of that. And it should be, but it should be backed up by all of these other things. It's like that's just part of it. But we get so focused on this is what it looks like. Yeah, and it's just this one thing, and it's not, it's yeah, it's life, what you're saying, but it's it's it's that uh spiritual life, sure, uh, a renewed life or a reborn life.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, for sure. And and and you know, the last thing I want to say about that, and then we we can go to to this week's sermon, or we can go whatever, I can answer some questions, but like one of the biggest things that was not meant to necessarily be in the sermon, but that God kept revealing to me as I was studying was as someone who values discipleship, I always think of it in terms of what I'm trying to do for others. And in the end, it's always what God uses to grow me. Is I think that I'm pouring into this young person, or I think I'm pouring into this newly married couple, and the next thing you know, you look back and you think, golly, man, I got such a blessing from that relationship that I thought was ministry, and it really God uses it to minister back to us when we do it well. And uh so it's amazing how God uses that to kind of turn it on his head. And you the more you think you're working for others, the more God really shows himself to you.

SPEAKER_00

You know, something that you this isn't what you said, but as I was thinking through the things that day, I and then kind of building this isn't what you said, but this is what you should do. This is what you said. Well, because I kind of come on, let me use this again. I was thinking back from the week before from Daniel's sermon about um our sometimes our misguided uh ways of serving.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And our human nature can take over in that situation sometimes too, where we get so focused on that we're trying to do good, yeah, that then we we I've seen it be made about ourselves. You know, like this is this is what I have done. This is in and we we because it's our human nature, we get so me focused and um or inward is the default, yeah, you know, uh and then often that reflect reflects that whoever that person is starts seeing us as the thing, and it made it also then it made me think of I I known someone that they had a really hard time with the Great Commission because it says go make disciples. And they in their mind had made that to be out that make disciples of yourself. Like I don't unless that's the way that you're thinking of it, I don't know how you would have drawn that conclusion, but it did it it it made me start thinking that's what happens. Like you you're only thinking about the things that you're doing for the reasons that you want to do them. And so, like I said, uh you weren't saying that, sure, but but it made me it triggered those thoughts that that's that's for everything that's good, there's always an opposite of that, and that's one of those opposites that comes up. Good, good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, to me, discipleship, the goal of discipleship is is like the goal of parenting. I want to give you the tools you need to do it better than I have. It's never be me. It's I want you to do the be who I wish I could be if I were serving God at the peak level that I that I want to, that I desire to, and that I failed to do.

SPEAKER_00

So well and it's it's come along and this is this is where we're going. And I'm gonna bring you with me to to the end, but I'm not the end. And and and hopefully you go past me to get to the thing. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for real. It it was a good, it was a good message. I I didn't get to live stream it. We've already talked about that, but I got to go back and watch it. Uh, and and some things that came to my mind while you were talking and thinking about your message with like with Piper seeing the students down there praying, for me, and I've talked about this before, but for me, that is the the little country church I grew up in. Uh as we were take gonna take the offering, we'd have a prayer time before that always, and it just became normal as a thing. You just knew if you were new, you you figured it out pretty quickly that there were there were prayer cards in the back of the pew. You could write down a prayer request, and before that prayer time, you you hold that card up, and the deacons walked up and down the aisles, you pass your prayer cards to the ends, and the deacons went down to the altar and literally put those on the altar and prayed over those things. And and I don't I don't have any idea what was on those cards. Sometimes I'm sure it was monumental things, and sometimes I'm sure it was things that maybe not so monumental, but at that moment for that person, maybe it was. But to me, as a as a young believer, very young believer, it made an impact on me of that's what we do. We do that for each other. We carry each other's burdens. I didn't have the words for it then, but I I was picking it up. It wasn't being taught, it was being taught. They were demonstrated. It was being demonstrated that this is what we do. We all have things that we're dealing with, we all have things we're working through, and what we do is we take that together to the Lord, to his feet, to the altar, and we and we do work there. And so that that part of discipleship that you talked about is like, yeah, that was that was that for me, and just the both and part of it, that it it just it's not any one specific area of this. It's it all it all goes together. And it just reminds me, I preached a message on the Great Commission uh five years ago, probably. Uh it's a long time ago. And I because I thought, well, if we're gonna say this at the end of the service every time, might want to really talk about what this is. And and and part of what I preached about was a repeat of something Brother Clayton had preached about years before that, and it's always stuck with me, and Brother Clayton said this, that uh that the the really the the the Greek of that when it says go make disciples, the Greek of it is as you are going. And that once that concept clicked with me, it because to me, go make disciples meant go be a missionary.

SPEAKER_00

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it really means go live your life, and as you're living your life, make disciples. So and that that goes with what you're talking about, doing life, living together, both and like it's just as you live, make disciples who make disciples. And if you're not making disciples who make disciples, then you didn't make disciples, right? And so we should be making a disciple and we should be being made. It should always be pouring in, pouring out, pouring in, pouring out, some some form, some fashion, however intentional, however structured. Some of it's more intentional and structured than others, um, you know, and all that. And then the other thing that came up into my mind, not to it's not about things that I've preached, but sometimes the things you preach stick in your mind more that you preach than anything else. You were talking about uh in discipleship, that the this statement, they should be convinced that I'm convinced of what this thing is. Yeah, right. And and I I I I don't do it right all the time. I mess up, I say, but they should be convinced that I am convinced that Jesus is who he says he is, can do what he says he will do, and will do what he says he will do. They should be convinced of that. And and that's just another form of the word convicted.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

When when we live in a convincing way, it convicts people. Yeah. Because we have we have done uh done that. So um, and I just love what you said there that because that ties perfectly into our message from this week that that you go disciple, deceive thinking you're gonna make all this difference in in others, and you do, but you you never leave where you didn't get something from it, right? And you know, and God needs me to go make disciples. No, he doesn't, but he lets you be a part of it, he lets you be part of it, but you always get something you need when you're obeying when we do life the way God called us, we always get what we need.

SPEAKER_00

It's almost like he does everything for our good.

SPEAKER_01

It's almost like he's yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh and his glory. In his glory. Well, you're good in his glory. Um, which which leads us to Psalm 50 this week. Uh, the first time I have ever literally while live while preaching, realized I'm fixing to have to cut this message in half. People, y'all joke, like you should have just went ahead and like, no, no, no, bro. You don't understand. There was a whole nother message. I didn't have any, like, there were two points ritualism and the one coming up this week. And it was gonna be just as long as the first one. So, you know, like the cool thing is, like, I'm I'm gonna get some stuff done this week outside of sermon prep because my sermon's ready.

SPEAKER_00

It's ready to go.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I already I got to go visiting today. It was, you know, I got to go have lunch with another pastor. I don't know what is this called?

SPEAKER_02

What am I what is happening?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, but we looked at Psalm 50, and Psalm 50, for lack of a you know, more scholarly way to put it, is a is a courtroom courtroom drama. It is the heaven and earth courtroom. God summons all to bring his people to count. And uh in that he says, Hey, you know, I don't need you. I don't need your sacrifices. The sacrifices aren't for me, they're for you. Yeah, and and you know, they brought bulls and goats, and we bring uh presence and time and energy, and some people uh bring a little money. Um, and some of you bring a lot of minute. I don't want to be dis I don't want to be dis that that came out way more condescending than I wanted to do. Some people are very sacrificial in their giving. I shouldn't be that way. Um, but we we bring those things as if God needs those things. And what really it is, is that we need to do those things. That's what's best for us. It's like, why do I need to give money to the church? Because nothing can come can become a false God faster than your money. So the regular giving away of your money is good for your heart because it's saying, I'm trusting on God to provide for me. And so uh anyway, Psalm 50, you know, God doesn't need that. And the charge he brought against his people was was not that they weren't doing the things, is that they were just doing the things to do the things or doing the things to expect something back from God. And it wasn't about knowing him, it's the word we use all the time: relationship. Yeah, it's about a relationship. Everything is about life is about relationships with each other and with the Lord. That's the whole thing about it. And and so the the charge, the in the first half of the psalm, there's two charges brought in the courtroom of Psalm 50. The first charge is ritualism, and that's the only charge we got to. We'll get to this coming week, which is rebellion, a little preview there. Um, ritualism and rebellion.

SPEAKER_03

I'll know too much about that in a second.

SPEAKER_01

But but the uh, you know, the remedy, the antidote or uh so to speak, is was the three T's. We tried to try to you know alliterate it and make it all preachery. Thankfulness. Put you on the spot. Uh I have it in my notes. Transparency. Transparency and trust and trust. Uh I should have repeated it more often because it would have stuck. But um, that's that's verse 14 and 15 of the of the psalm. That that was a way to memorize what that's actually saying in that verse is to be thankful, uh, to be transparent, and to trust, that to have a relationship with God. In other words, um, that's what a relationship looks like. Any relationships, that's yeah, that's kind of the three keys of any relationship. Be thankful, be transparent, and and trust. Uh build trust, be trustworthy, and and trust the other person to be trustworthy. So uh that was Psalm 50. And so two weeks of messages there and a few minutes. Um, and I have no idea where this conversation is going now. I really, I really enjoyed your message. Uh great visual, as always, when you do a visual, and um, I'm not gonna make fun of you for anything. So I'm not sure if you makes you feel uncomfortable or not. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I've done enough of that lately.

SPEAKER_03

As long as you don't talk nice about me, we'll be all right.

SPEAKER_00

Something you said when you were is made me think uh as as we're as we are going, there there's also a caveat of that. Sometimes we disciple people and we are unaware of it. Yep, yeah, and that and that's that's part of it too. So, like number one, always be cognizant of that.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

That there's somebody observing you somewhere. It may be that person that you had no idea was actually there, but they see you on the regular and the way that you interact means something and may change them, and you never know it. For sure. I I'd go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna take it a step further. I think we're always discipling people that we don't know. Like instead of turn them into disciples of me instead of disciples of Jesus. And I at the end of the day, like I want to be like Paul, and I can't be, but I want to be like Paul and say, hey, follow me as I follow Christ. Or in the words of the great philosopher Lecrae, who I follow is who they follow when they follow me. I want that to be the case, but sometimes they follow Dusty. Right. And Dusty is gonna lead you into a place that's full of full of rage and anger and and emotionalism, and ignorance and all the things. And but that's that's good for us to have that pressure on us 24-7. Yeah. That they are following, whether we want them to or not, they are following us. But if they follow us, will they look more like Jesus or more like my fleshly struggles?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And and we don't see any greater example of that than when we see our struggles come out in our children. And you think, boy, I had to wait. He learned that from me. And that's a hard realization. But that's because you have discipled and you haven't done it well in that area. And so it is it's something we need to wake up with every morning, knowing that I need to bring my A game because somebody is watching me to see how a Jesus follower handles whatever's thrown away, the good and the bad, throughout today.

SPEAKER_01

It's tough, but it's cool. I thought about uh when you were talking about you know, you disciples to a point that you just become family, yeah. Um, and the different levels and ways that that happens. But one example of that recently for me um is a guy you both know, a guy named Darren Poole. Now, the interesting thing of that is my first wife, my wife that has passed on, Kayla, he's actually, Darren was actually an extended in-law of mine, but but it was fairly distant, you know, to the point where you know eventually your families grow big enough that certain you know branches are a little further away of the tree and things. So I knew who Darren was for a long, long, long time, but we never really spent a lot of time with each other or anything like that. Uh, and then he went to a conference with with us with a group of guys four years ago, I think, um, three, four years ago. We've been going, we go every year to the same conference, and man, we rapidly became family in the Lord to the point that we he and I try to meet for breakfast on the regular, we pray for each other on the fairly regular. Um, like he is a true brother in Christ and and warrior in the spiritual war that I trust. And it's because we've had open, honest conversations. We've talked about the real parts of life. Like I remember, I think it was the first year uh Josh and Darren and I stood out in the driveway uh under a beautiful, I remember the stars being beautiful that night and just talked about some real stuff, man, some legit stuff. Uh and it was it was good. Man, it was good. And like those kind of conversations like lead to a relationship quickly, I feel like. Um and uh I feel like I feel like like if he called me right now and needed something, here here I go. Like you guys enjoy the episode, I'm out, yeah. Um, type of thing. So um I just love that about how how someone you you meet and and know and grow in Christ with, how quickly you can develop a true familial bond familial bond with with someone like that, a brother in Christ like that's cool.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and Darren's a discipler. Like he he leads and he leads well. And man, the ministries and some of the stuff he's got going in Pottsville in that area. I just man, I love to see the way he's pouring in a young man in that in that area, you know, and uh getting to go to Mexico on the mission trip last year and and watching uh watching his kids watch him serve was like that's that's what ministry looks like. That's what it is. And so he he's awesome. And and yeah, that's that's cool. And I can't I kept thinking, you know, not to switch gears 100%, but like as you were preaching this last this last Sunday, the scripture just kept coming back to me about how God desires obedience rather than sacrifice. And so much of what we do for the Lord, we we're sacrificing. We're not being obedient. Our actions, and you said uh I don't want to mess it up, but oh uh I don't rebuke I don't rebuke you for what you're doing, but um you're doing the things the laws because what you're doing is what was required, but I don't accept your sacrifice because what you're giving me is already mine.

SPEAKER_01

Like it's not that what you're doing is wrong, it's how you're doing it, and it's the fact that God doesn't you're following the law physically, but you're not following the the heart and intent of the law, which is the more important part.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Or are singing praises to God, two people can be singing the same song side by side in the same service, and God accepts one sack one uh display of love and rejects the other. And it we're doing the exact same thing, but it's all about how we're offering it. Are we offering it because this is what we're supposed to do, this is the time in the service that we do it, this is just what my family does. We show up on Sunday, or man, I'm pouring out my heart to God. Thank you for loving me, thank you for letting me come into your presence and be a part of what you're doing. It looks the same. He doesn't reject none of those things. It's not wrong to give money, it's not wrong to sing your songs, it's not wrong to share a Bible verse, but it's not right either, unless you're doing it for God's glory. And so I I thought that was a really it's so good that we remember that it's not none of none of what we say is about stop doing church. No, because church is important, but it's let's approach church the way we're supposed to, that it's for well Yeah, man, like it's it's the freedom of Christ.

SPEAKER_01

Like it's the freedom of being in the grace and love of Christ. When you grasp that, like and one of the ways I tried to say that yesterday, when you understand that you're not bringing anything to church that God needs, like, like, and I said it over and over and over because we you think you know that, but you but your actions, our actions, our hearts show that we think God needs us to be here uh and to do things. And and that, and that in order to have a relationship, he needs something from us. And the and the word you just said a second ago, he doesn't want or need our sacrifices, but desires our obedience. He doesn't even need our obedience. Right. He desires what's best for us. He wants what's best for us, he wants us, but he doesn't need us. He wants our obedience because it's best for him. He wants our obedience because it does, our obedience does glorify him, but we don't take away from his glory, yeah. We don't take away from anything from him. He is full in and of himself with or without us. But there's beautiful freedom in that. Yeah, and it's like it's okay to have this mentality. I'm gonna go to church because I know that my good, gracious, and loving Father is going to give me something I need today. Yeah, that's why we gather. We think we gather to give to God, but we actually gather so he can bless us. Yeah, we get that so backwards all the time. And it's guess what? When you think you're doing something to give, give, give, give, give, guess what? That's draining. Yeah, that's that can pull out of you. But you're really coming together to get, to receive, to accept the blessings from the El Elohim Yahweh, you know, the mighty God, the God of gods, the Lord Yahweh, the I am who I am. Like it don't you want to come together and get that? Like, and that's what happens.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I just that's good. Like church stopped being a drag to me a long time ago when that clicked. Yeah. Like it's something that I want to do almost all the time. I'm not saying I never have a Sunday where I'm tired or where I'm sick, or there's so much on my mind and my heart that you just want to lay in bed and you know, stare at the wall. Like I'm not saying that, but I'm saying like that that in general, man, uh church again. Like I've said it before another way. If if you if you are one way, but you have to come to church and be another way, then church is draining.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because you're you're having to pretend.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Stop, stop that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's like transparency. We just we just talked about. Like, stop that. It is okay to not be okay. It is okay to not want to be here on a Sunday. Like, I I get like come expecting, come, you know, and I get all of those things that we say, the heart behind those things, but it is okay to come in here with a heart that really doesn't want to be here. Knowing that you're coming to the good and loving gracious father, he's gonna give you something you need. It's okay for that. Um, we'll get to next week, next week, it's not okay to come in here and intentionally be a fraud.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, those are two different things. We'll take it until you make it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No, it it's we don't want to come in here and be a fraud, right? But it's okay to not feel like you want to XYZ and but be honest about that and and authentic about that or real about that. You like the little shout out yesterday? You two both got a good chuckle. Nobody else, no one else is laughing. I knew I knew I knew where you were going. But you know, just be real about the fact that you're struggling. But it's it's like I said, I'm getting ahead of myself. But this coming week, it's it's it's not okay to be false. Yeah, to be a hypocrite is another word for it. It's it's not okay to be in rebellion.

SPEAKER_00

God, those that's not okay. To speak on the word real, you just painted a beautiful picture there. Because to in that sense, if you're being real about that, because I'll the reason I have a problem with that, just to clarify for anybody, is because anytime, usually anytime somebody says that, it's in justification of something they're doing that would qualify as rebellion. Right. Like, you know, like just being real. I'm just being real here.

SPEAKER_03

You're being in your flesh, and your flesh stinks, right?

SPEAKER_00

So you know, uh, just to be real with you, I get drunk every night. You know, like that's that's the that's the thing that usually follows that, like when I'm being when people are being real.

SPEAKER_02

Like, well, just being who I am, man, just being real self.

SPEAKER_00

True, true to myself.

SPEAKER_01

So that's why that's why just being my flesh, like, trust me, it's not gonna be good.

SPEAKER_00

Because if I was off, but if I'm authentic, I say, this is a sin problem I have in my life, and I I I I'm struggling to to kill it. And you know, I'm now I'm being authentic with you about the things that are actually I'm not just this is who I am and this is the real meaning, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

This is exactly this isn't good for me, but it's a real problem that you have, right? Versus it's just who I am, get over it.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

And yeah, I get that for sure. And and I think I think this is a fair comparison to what to what you guys were saying. So, like, if I bring a tenth of my paycheck or a hundred percent of my paycheck, honestly, instead of me bl thinking I'm blessing God, what I I think I we need to change our mindset to this is a this is macaroni jewelry to the God of the universe. Yes. No mother ever got a macaroni necklace and actually thought, well, this is beautiful. When I get dressed up, this is what I want to wear instead of my my diamond necklace. I we they do it because they love the child and they want their child to know I wear this because it's special because you made it. Yeah, it actually has zero value, it's actually not even good for what macaroni was originally made for. It's supposed to be buried and covered in cheese. It's not supposed to be on my neck, but it's special. And I think like that's what when I bring my tithes and offerings to God, I'm bringing him a macaroni necklace. He doesn't need it. The only value that that thing has is because the one I'm giving it to loves me. It's not because what I bring has any value, right?

SPEAKER_01

And and I think part of the reason we struggle with that is on the surface, when you first hear that, it almost sounds like we're being me centric.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Catch me. Okay. Almost like, you know, it like it's it's not about me bringing to God what he needs, it's about what God's gonna give me. Right, right. It's like that sounds like you're being selfish, but when you step back and go, what's more selfish? You trusting that anything you do or bring to God, he doesn't need, but he's gonna love you and bless you, or God, the king of the universe, needs what you're bringing him. Yeah, which one of those is actually more self-centered and prideful? Yeah. And it's like, oh yeah. So it's actually more glorifying for me to say and realize, because it's the truth, for me to go, I can't wait to go to church because God's gonna give me something today, because that's who he is. That's how good he is.

SPEAKER_03

It's a form of trust. I trust that if I go today, even though I don't feel like it's and Lord, I don't like whatever. I'm having a problem. I don't want to get out of bed. Even though I trust that it's worth it because you're there. Yep. And where you are, everything else dims in comparison.

SPEAKER_01

And that's the macro level and that's the congregational level. And then break that down into the micro level and the daily level of your personal life. God, I feel like doing this bad thing we were just talking about. I feel like doing this X, Y, Z thing. I feel like doing it. I want to do it. But today I'm choosing to not do that out of obedience because I know you'll give me something better. You'll give me something that I actually need, and that false form of goodness and that false form uh of what I think I need, that payoff that I think I'm gonna get on the other side. I know it's not real, but what you're gonna give me is real and good. And so you bring it down to the macro level. God, the micro level, the God does not need anything from you, but he wants to give you everything you need. And that is the most beautiful thing in the world.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but say like hearing all of that, it's so frustrating because I I 100% agree, but that's been so perverted. Because, like, I mean, it up to this point, somebody might maybe listening and thinking that we believe that it's that we because we come to show up to church on Sunday, that we're gonna get that cash and Cadillacs and stuff. Like, and that's but but that's the perverted I'm not talking about prosperity gospel. Exactly, but that that that's exactly where we're and I'm not talking about God owes me because I came to church. When when when we say we're going to get something, it's very seldom gonna be that tangible thing. It's that it's that blessing, that that that word from the Holy Spirit, it's that encouragement of of love and grace that we that we had just for that moment forgotten about, but we're reminded because we were here, we heard from him.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, like that's what we're talking about. And I'm not saying this is an example for me, right? That this person saying this gave me what I needed. That's not what I'm saying. It's an example of to what you're saying. You know, uh recently, I'll just say recently, within the recent past, someone came up to me after the service and was like, thank you for that. Like, yeah, God knew I needed to hear that, right? And it and as usual, it's kind of it was kind of a tangent point of the of the sermon, but it was like, this happened to me here and that, and and like God knew I needed this message today, right? Now, is that is there satisfaction in that as the person who gets to be the condo? Absolutely, but that's not what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is that person showed up and got exactly what they needed. And it wasn't cash, cadillacs, and cotton candy. There you go, as Joby says. It was something way better than that. It was that the God of the universe hears and sees and knows and delivers when you need it. And there ain't nothing better than that.

SPEAKER_00

That's what at least twice, probably every Sunday, that gets prayed for live in in the midst of the sermon, that that a word will be spoken through to whatever somebody needs to hear. And and like we it it almost becomes it feels like I'm doing something by rope, but no, that's it, that's legitimate weekly prayer. Desire and heart. Oh, yeah, the heart.

SPEAKER_01

The Holy Spirit will take what is said and He will use it for you to give you what you need. Yeah. In spite of the of the unworthy vessel that is being used to deliver, or you know, even truly.

SPEAKER_03

Beat me to it. So, but the one thing that I think we need to think about with all this, and as we teach these things, and as we try to to lead and inspire others to follow these things, we're not saying don't do the things. Like it's that balance of discipline. There are days I don't feel it and I still do it, and that doesn't make me fake. No. But there are also I think the difference comes with when I do it, what I expect in return is different than what the world says I should be expecting.

SPEAKER_01

I'm trusting the goodness of God, yes, versus God owes me some tangible worldly physical thing because I did some meaning, meaning I did not meaningless, but I did some uh little titpidly task for the Lord. Now he owes me something. And the word I use for that in the message, and it's a gross word, but it's true. Like we're we're prostituting God, and that's really the the biblical language of what that is. I idolatry, that's what it's called. Idolatry is called adultery, that you're literally cheating spiritually on God when you I when you idolaterize things. And and and when if if I walk up to you and say, here's this money, now you owe me this, that if unless it's voluntary, right, that is prostitution. That's what it is. I mean, it has to be in a sexual sense, I know, for the word to mean to make sense, but like that's what it is. Right. Um, and God's not a transactional God, God is a relational, transformational God. I don't want a God that I can control.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want a God that I can put quarters in the machine and he spits out what I want because I don't actually know what I want. I know what I think, but I don't know what's good for me. Yeah, right. I know what I want, but I don't know what I don't what I want is what I want good for me, exactly. We, uh the I, the me, the self, is the easiest person on the planet to deceive.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Oh, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Like we can deceive ourselves faster, deeper, quicker, further than anybody else. I don't trust me. I don't trust my my thoughts. I don't trust my desires. Like I know my heart left unto itself without the general grace of God and without the specific grace of God through salvation. I know my heart is deceitful more than anything on this planet. Desperately wicked. Desperately wicked. And if it were not for the common grace of God, and thank God for the specific grace of God through salvation, like there's no telling what I could convince myself was okay and right and good. There's no telling how far it would go.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I think that's we see that in some of the most heinous acts in human history. I mean, some of the human atrocities that have happened, people have done in the name of religion and in the name of faith, when really they've just convinced themselves God wants me to wipe out this nation. God wants me to take vengeance on these things, God wants me to do those things.

SPEAKER_01

They have this compound where everybody's, you know, serving and beckoning to me. Yeah. Funny how that always works.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. So, you know, my heart always goes back to, which we, you know, this is what I jokingly said when I preached a couple weeks ago is that like when Daniel asked me to preach, he knows it's going to be one of two things. We're either going to hit hard on salvation or hit hard on discipleship, or hit hard on discipleship leading to salvation. And that's you know, that's really where my heart is. And I think you did a really good job in your sermon, you know, at the end of it, bringing it back to, you know, you said the God who wasn't hungry and he needed nothing, chose to put on flesh and become vulnerable because he loves us. What a beautiful picture of a God who is worthy to be served. I don't serve him for what he's going to give me because he's already laid aside his deity to put on flesh, to be tempted, to experience hunger, to experience loss, and then die as a worthy sacrifice for my sins. What how selfish and arrogant am I to ask God for anything else? And everything I can do moving forward is just an expression of my gratitude for what he's already done to have a relationship with me. Unworthy, unworthy is the only thing you can think of when you hear the God of gods, El Elohim, Yahweh, wanted a relationship with me so not because I'm great, but because he created me for relationship with him, that he would lay aside all that power to come and be God in the flesh. So that I could be saved. Well, that hits you right in the spirit every single time. And that's why I think arrogant Christian is an oxymoron. I don't think you can be right with God and have an unhealthy view of who you are because who I am will always be in awe of a God who loves like that. And uh man, I just want more people to know to know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I know what you mean, though.

SPEAKER_03

I know what you mean.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not correcting. You know, like I guess I was, but to have this thing, this prosperity mindset that, oh yeah, if I do this, this, and this, then God's gonna bless me.

SPEAKER_03

What more could he give?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

What more could he give?

SPEAKER_01

There's nothing that I give that even comes close. It's like I heard I heard uh let me miss his miss his name up. We we heard him sing the the uh physics professor uh John Lennox. John Lennox, I I've heard a recently listen to a couple things from me. He's like beyond brilliant, right? I mean, the dude is beyond brilliant and he's just talking about he's like Irish or something, sounds like so it sounds way cooler because he's got the kind of a slight British accent type of thing going on. Um but you know, just reminding of like if it is true that Jesus resurrected, if that's true, then there's a God who can compensate however he sees fit anyone beyond death. And if you if you don't get that, I don't know what I don't know how else to help you. If you don't understand that because death and the grave have been conquered, like that is the key. And the the example is like the the you know, the little girl in the faraway third world country that is born with the you know the parasite that eats your eye out and eats your brain out, and like, you know, how how can a good God do that, allow that, if he's omniscient, knows all things, and omnipotent, can do all things, and creates this person that's going to go through that and doesn't stop it but has the ability to stop it. How can that God be good? And the only answer to that is because I believe he is omnipotent, right, and I do believe he's omnipent. There has to be something beyond this life.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_01

There has to be. And I believe that he is that the the compensation for lack of a better term beyond this life from a good loving God is beyond anything we can fathom it being. I I I just I just believe that. And and here's the other thing use that little girl as the example, right? And still in John Lennox's John Lennox's words, I'm I'm I'm quote practically quoting him here. But if it's not true that that God exists, that little girl has no hope at all whatsoever. So, really, what it is is you're mad at a God that you think should have stopped that, but how arrogant to think you know more than him. How arrogant you think you you have a better outcome for her than he does. Guys, it's it's temporary versus eternal. Yeah. It's it's temporary gain versus eternal gain. It's temporary loss versus uh eternal gain. Like it you have to understand eternity, or not understand, you have to you have to recognize you have to have hope of hope. Yes, you have to recognize the reality of of eternity and understand understand the true hope that is in eternity to to really grasp that. And and it's like, yeah, that that God, that God can give me what I need when I need it, and I trust him to do that. And and sometimes the best thing he gives me is the opportunity to wait.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Well, it changes the way we read scripture, because like Romans chapter 8, you know, it says, How you know the God who who didn't spare his own son, how will he not also give us all things freely? Well, the problem is he does give us all things freely, and we want to waste it on things like new cars and new houses and bigger boats. Well, that's not what God means. How will he not also give us all things freely? Well, he's he's given me life eternal. Yeah, it's already started. It's I'm not waiting on eternal life. I already have eternal life. It is the free gift of God. And and so the problem is not what he can and can't give us, it's what what we want to waste and not waste. You know, well, well, if God's good, then then you're gonna be healthy and you're gonna be wealthy and you're gonna be wise. Well, no, if God is good, then I have a hope of a future that is greater than my present. And and no matter how great it is, whether you're whether you're in the in the in the sewer or you're in the palace, there's a hope for a future that's greater than what you're experiencing now. And and uh it just changes we want God to bless this earthly existence. And this is this is not what life is about.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I heard someone else quote it, but I I think it's actually a C S Lewis quote uh that says if you don't know Jesus, whatever you get in this life, the good that you get in this life is as close to heaven as you'll ever be. But if you do know Jesus, no matter how bad this life is, it's as close to hell as you'll ever be. And the reality of like whatever good you gain in this life without faith in Christ, it's as good as it gets. But if you know Christ, whatever suffering you have in this life is as bad as it'll ever be. It's only better with Jesus. Right. Yeah. And it can only be as good as what Satan has to offer in this life. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's an easy choice. Yeah. That's an easy choice.

SPEAKER_03

You say it's an easy choice, but honestly, like, how many people would choose to be the rich man instead of Lazarus? Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of there's a lot of folks out there who would and and you know, we know we got to go there at least once this week, you know, but like coming from the coaching world, we always tell our kids, like, don't sacrifice the future for the present. You know, a little bit of of uncomfortableness now is gonna lead us to a place where we're able to be more successful later. Spiritually, people need to hear that too. Like, grow up, it's not about right now.

SPEAKER_01

Quit literally what faith is society. Yeah, faith is sacrificing now for the better later. Yeah, that's what it is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it makes me think I I I'm gonna go ahead and tell Kelly you can correct me later when you listen to this. All right. But I don't know if she shared this story with you because she was just something that came up last night as we were um talking. Yesterday in children's church, there were some questions that asked, or it was brought up about this kind of this whole topic of you know being a Christian and bad things happening or versus always having good things. And it was brought up, and she's you know, she kind of she likes to direct the kids into thinking through these things. And she asked Jackson, what do you, Jackson, what what do you think on that? Is it is that is that just being a Christian, does that bring all things good to your life? And he said, far from it. But he understands now, like he knows what's ahead. Yeah, and that's so much more important. These things are they're hard, but they're trivial. They're they're and they're temporary. Yes, they're temporary, they're over in a blink of an eye, compared to eternity. And when we when we try, when we can make some effort to conceptualize that, it puts it all in perspective and it makes life bearable because it's unit is unbearable. And that's why you without Christ, you fill it with so much junk because you just can't bear reality.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's true. The the emptiness of reality without a God who loves you and can give you uh uh an eternity beyond beyond anything you can fathom. I I don't know how you bear that. Yeah, this life, this reality without that. I d I truly don't. I don't I do not say that flippantly and I do not say it condescendingly. I say it with bewilderment. I don't know how you can bear this reality without living, without knowing and having that truth, that there is a God who loves you, who will forgive you always, who can give you eternal life, which means he can give you eternity beyond the reality of death and nothingness and and and the temporary emptiness that really everything in this life ultimately brings apart from Christ. I don't know. I don't know how you do it with that. And then the beauty of it is even in this difficult existence, the the beautiful meaning, meaning and purpose uh that comes into everything when you live for Christ in this life. Everything has value, everything has meaning, everything has purpose. The the the great, great, great, and the hard, hard, hard. It all has purpose. All the suffering, all the things, it all brings has is all glorifying, it's all it's all beautifying, it's all uh sanctifying to us. Like it it it is everything matters if Jesus is real. Yeah, and nothing matters if he's not. And and you know, we keep referring to this God that left like and that God's got a name, and his name is Jesus. Yeah. Jesus the Messiah, Jesus Christ, um, the Son of God.

SPEAKER_03

The promised son and the perfect son as we study last night. We study last night. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Promised Son and the perfect son. That's right. We got all the peas this week in BBS.

SPEAKER_03

It's just so, it's just such a good reminder, man, just of how God's goodness doesn't last for 50, 60, 70, 80 years. It's it's eternal, you know. And I was talking to a young man this week, and he was talking about some of the past regrets of his life and how God is doing using some of those things to further his work for the Lord. And I thought, man, what a beautiful picture that God can redeem. And I believe that it is the evidence that God has redeemed our past when he begins to use even our wrong decisions for his glory. And that doesn't mean we should go out and live in sin because someday God's gonna use it for his glory. But but I'm thankful to know that the darkness that I roamed in on those hard days and those days that I rebelled against God, God has even used that rebellion. The thing you would take away. You'd take it away. Listen, I would change it in my testimony right now.

SPEAKER_01

But he uses it for good glory.

SPEAKER_03

He has used it to say, even those darkest days I've turned to good. And that's what's when scripture says he will turn all things to good for those who love him and are called according to his purposes. It doesn't mean that those things were good, but it means that even those darkest things that we wish we hadn't experienced, or we wish we hadn't sometimes it's things that we didn't have any control over, sometimes it's things that we absolutely did have control over and chose it over him. Yeah, he will turn it all and use it for his glory and for his good. And he uh man, I I don't know, I deal with so much guilt and shame from who I was anyway, if it wasn't for that promise that God could use those things even for his own. Like, I don't know how you get past it if you don't have that promise that he has taken the darkness and bought it back to light.

SPEAKER_00

And and so uh so you use two examples there. Some things are out of our control, and those things are the are often tough and and really hard. Those are the things that we uh like to testify after we're through them about, but the things that are self-imposed are so shameful. Now, there's a good testimony in there, but we would rather not talk about that one because I did that. I did that, and and it's it's made me think last Sunday night when we had uh a men's gathering, and Dusty spoke at that as well. And I not to take away from any other time of, but that might have been the most uh encouraging and just right punch to the gut that I've ever heard you give. It was so like I was I was motivated, bro, like legit. I was I mean, it was too to a small group, but you know, like I I know that I needed to hear that, and I know that there were other men there that needed to hear that, but just to we can we can I don't we can talk about it more, but you know, using Peter, who we do, we like we we often look at Peter for a lot of good things, but to point out he was he was good, he met he he came to know Christ, then messed up, and Christ redeemed him. Like all that happened in real time, that was you know, while he was still walking the earth, and we I don't know, I've you know, always you can just hear take these all these things and put them together, and I've not ever really thought about that. But when you s when you pointed out, most of us, our story can say some of the biggest mistakes, regrets we've made in our life are after have happened after we've known Christ.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like that's that's horrible when you when we when you stop and think about that, but it's so true. But that that wasn't the end. Yeah. And it didn't define Peter, and it doesn't define us because we've been redeemed once and for all.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Well, I know, I know we're probably up against the end of the episode, but I do want to say this about that because that Peter is is uh other than Jesus, uh, you know, and the Godhead itself, Peter is the person in the Bible I most identify with. And it's because he was he was bold, he was who he was, he said what he thought. Sometimes he got it right, sometimes he got it wrong. But you know, something that I've never really realized about Peter until I was really studying for for our for our boys to men event, you know, I always knew that that after Jesus' crucifixion that he went back to fishing. I but the timeline was always fuzzy to me. And then as I was studying, I'm like, Peter had already seen the resurrected Jesus at least twice recorded times, and probably more and then went back to fishing. That that is confusing. Like if he knew Jesus has proven he is the Messiah, why would he go back to fishing? And that's when it came to me, and that's why I really think those the power of that uh devotional really was the fact that Jesus going or Peter going, excuse me, Peter going back to his old life was not a reflection of what he believed about Jesus, it was a reflection of what he believed about himself. I have disqualified myself from serving a perfect risen Savior. How many times has Satan lied to me and said, Dusty, you can't do that, not because Jesus isn't real, but because you're disqualified, aren't good enough to do that. And I think that you know, anytime you can get a group of men together and say, hey, what Jesus wants is for you men to rise up and lead your families and lead your ministries and lead this community towards Jesus and Satan, some of you have believed the lie and you genuinely love Jesus and you genuinely believe in Jesus and you genuinely want to serve your family, but you've listened to the Satan's lie that you are God can't use you. Yeah. And men stay on the side and they don't do enough. And and that was what I really wanted to encourage them with was like, listen, I hear you, I see you. I'm not condemning you because I I believe that you believe in Jesus. And what I want you to do is to believe that Jesus can use you. If Jesus can can use a donkey to that he can use you. And and and so that was it was good for me too, as I studied for that.

SPEAKER_01

But and and what's one of the lives that is woven into that that goes perfectly back to Psalm 50, is that God needs me to be perfect in order to use me. Yeah, and thankfully he does not. Because he doesn't need to get this together, anything from a He can do whatever He wants, however He wants, He can use whoever He wants, He can redeem anything and anyone and will.

SPEAKER_03

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

And He that's the beauty of understanding that the El Elohim Yahweh, the God of Gods, the Mighty One, the God, the God, the eternal God, doesn't need anything. That's right. Therefore, he can do and use anything or anyone. That's right. Um even the shameful parts of us we wish we could take away. Yeah, it actually adds to his glory. Again, doesn't mean you sin on purpose. That's stupid. That just makes your life worse. It means he's beyond what we can fathom. Yeah. Doesn't need anything.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And if he did need anything, he wouldn't be God. Or at least not a God we're serving.

SPEAKER_01

He'd be a little g god. Yep. But he's the big G God. He's the big G God of the little G gods. All the false ones we put in there.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'll real quickly wrap us up with this. Earlier this morning, we discussed um a thought of hellfire and brimstone preaching and what that means and what people mean when they say that. And I only bring that up to say I thought, I feel like that there's a certain intensity that you often preach with. Absolutely. And it's it's very effective and efficient, and people talk about it. But I think it was purposely efficient and used used yesterday. And I know you didn't do it on purpose, but that's just because how God works. Because that's there was we were discussing how intense El Elohim Yahweh is. Like that when when just saying those words, like it's like it's it brings you to a point. Oh he's he is that. It's good. You know, like he he's it it it invokes that like the you know the the the old saying from uh um Longwich in the wardrobe. Like, is is is Aslan is he safe? No, he's but he's he's good, he's not safe because he's that and like he's that God, and he demands his presence demands that, and he he is above all just all of those things that we say that we know are true, but you kind of see it. He he's this is another one of those things you you you talked when we we were discussing it earlier, like how in Job, it's the same God that shows up where he's like, Who are you? I where were you when this happened? It's that it's that same presence. And we should never forget that. I I guess I'm saying all of that because right now there's a gospel being preached that casts this away. And no, he's still this because he was this and he is this and he will be this. He demands he demands all of those things, reverence, the the awe, the wonder, the fear. But it's because his presence is because he is. But but you see that, and I thought I think that it was perfectly displayed through the passion and the intensity of which that that section was delivered. Now, I don't I well, you can read ahead and see where maybe it should go next week. I don't know. But like that's I don't know if it's getting any better. I think that was what he I mean, he needed to remind us.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you've had a couple, you've had A couple of really intense but deep moments over the last couple sermons you preached. You know, this one I thought you found that right, you know, tenor of intensity, urgency, reverence, you know, power under control. And then, you know, two weeks ago when I was gone and you know, I was listening back, and you said, you know, like it got a little intense, and you're like, hey, God doesn't want you to manage your sin, he wants you to murder it. And I thought, let's, I mean, I'm I'm driving down the road on the, you know, I'm like, let's go. Like, yes, that's what I'm talking about. Like, let's and and I think it's it's good for us to get fired up and have some urgency and have some, and I think there's also times when it's all emotion and we need to dial it back, and it needs to be rooted in in thoughtful uh truth. And you know, we can't just write emotion, but sometimes we need to get fired. And when we think about God is the this God, yeah, like unbridled power and also at the same time loving control and perfection. Just it's someone like me. I need that. I need that's someone I can follow. I can't follow a little sissy god. I can't, I'm just I'm not, I'm I'm just being I'm being honest, authentic. I'm not being real, I'm being honest about that. And we need to be reminded that he is the god of gods. Like anybody you think can even come close to rival him, kick rocks. He's not gonna, he can't stand up to that guy. He's the he's he's the dude. Yeah. And uh man, I thought I thought it was good. And I thought I thought both the you know, that message was really good. I hated that I wasn't here to hear it live. I might have got a little fired up that day too, though. But uh, but I thought yesterday was good too. And I just, man, I just I'm thankful to balance these ideas, talk, talk it through with you guys, and uh me, me too.

SPEAKER_01

It's funny, this is the last thing I'll say. So I we generally go through some psalms in the summer, you know, we've summer in the psalms, that type of thing, and uh I put Psalm 50 on the list to be preached. I I keep a I keep a document of of the psalms we've preached, and then when when I read one that something strikes me, I'll put it on the list, like, oh I'm not I don't have preached that. 10 months ago, I put Psalm 50 on that list and was like, we preaching that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But then I didn't really remember why. And then I went back and read it this week as we were preparing. Dude, you get to you get to Psalm 50, verse 12, and he says, Look, bro, if I was hungry, I wouldn't tell you what would you do about it? How are you gonna feed me? Yeah, if I was hungry, but I'm not, because I don't get hungry. I'm not like you. Yeah, and it's like, whoo, buddy. Like I called Josh Novice, like, bro, read this verse, bro. Read this verse. Like, come on, yeah, let's go. Like, I mmm, that's God. That's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we better dial back down. We wanna go another hour. You know what? I mean, let's just go to VBS starts. We did, and we skipped the week, so really we're not going long. Right. Yeah, we just you just put this in the two episodes and they're short. Exactly, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Let's let's do it in spirits.

SPEAKER_01

Cool.

SPEAKER_00

That's been good. Um we'll probably just pick right back up here next week because we'll be back at Psalm 50.

SPEAKER_03

That's right. I don't know. Daniel keeps hurting my feelings from the pulpit, I may not come back.
