SPEAKER_03

Welcome to My Stories Are On, where we yap about all of our favorite unscripted and scripted stories. I'm your host, Chels, and with me today are my surviving co-hosts, Jesse Owen. How are you enjoying Suri's Island this year?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, moments. As we've like times gone on, I've been excited for it, but I've been like lowering my expectations as the season got closer. So, which I think has been helpful. I'm glad Suri's still there. There's still there's been some several moments that have been really fun. I love like blind sides, things like that. But as I've been saying, there's like this element of like humiliation in watching this season. And so many like awkward, cringy moments that I don't really understand.

SPEAKER_03

As I've texted you many times, this is not my kink. Whatever Jeffrey's humiliation is this week. Owen, how do you feel about Jeffrey and his island backyard adventures?

SPEAKER_00

Oh Jeffrey. Um yeah, for such a momentous season that it proclaims itself to be. Um as a longtime fan, there's elements that I'm enjoying. I mean, I love it back-to-back years of Cerie on Survivor. Um but there are choices that the series is putting on the fans. Um I was a fan who could not vote because of my location. Because one vote could make the difference and maybe make the season. Um where yeah, things just happen and we're six episodes in and we're not even halfway yet.

SPEAKER_03

We're not even halfway. We've not even got rid of half the castaways. I'm just this season, I feel like I am just watching for Suri, and then I had my follow-up baddies. But every week I am just like, what fresh hell is gonna be put upon Suri that she just has to go through this embarrassing game? Like, I just let's just start with it. Um, do you think Billie Eilish knows her name is being thrown around Survivor like this? Do we know if she's aware? Is there another Billie Eilish in the world that they're pretending is this the singer Billie Eilish? Because I'm like, girl, what you doing?

SPEAKER_01

I'm just imagining like her watching the show, like, ah, that's me. Like every time they say like the Billie Eilish boomerang, I'm like, okay.

SPEAKER_03

They really say the whole phrase.

SPEAKER_01

They built up this season so much on like the not having any returners the last few years, and that kind of almost being enough to get people really excited to watch, and then like adding all this extra stuff in, I feel like is almost feels like a detriment to the season.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Owen, what do you think of the twists and the new idols and the fan votes?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, I remember the days of Survivor where an idol was like a momentous occasion where you didn't fully know how everything was going to happen. Where now them naming it after a celebrity who also has not publicized the show, so I don't understand.

SPEAKER_03

Not even sent in a FaceTime.

SPEAKER_00

No, not a Snapchat. I mean, I'm grateful for their face not to be on screen because that would take away from the contestants who are competing. Um, because that's already happened with another celebrity. Um yeah, I for like they hadn't had a returning contestant the whole past 10 seasons. That the fact that we've gotten to this season now and we've had so many returning contestants. I just want better. I want kind of a return to Survivor in terms of like gameplay. Not in turn I think I agree with Angelina and how she's been speaking about the series, the season since her elimination was how it's kind of feels like it's edited to be way of Survivor of the Past, where those seasons weren't my favorite, and there's just a major issue, and it's yeah, it's fun to watch, but also I want better.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Like I miss, especially since I watched so many of the earlier seasons, like back to back to back within the last couple of years, just the actual social game of it all. I think that's why Jesse was able to very easily get me hooked onto Big Brother again. Because you just want to see people outwit, outplay, outlast. You want the mind games, you want the real blind sides and not the blind side being Jeff putting them into three different tribes again, as if he's trying to learn multiplication tables with these contestants. And like making votes happen that just don't make any damn sense. Like, I don't know what's going on here.

SPEAKER_01

It feels like the social game on Survivor these days is just like very quick snippets that we get in between the challenges and the tribal. Like, it's less seeing like them build these relationships and like start like laying the groundwork for like blind sides and stuff. It's more of like this, which maybe that's what they're hoping to push. Maybe they think it sound seems fun in the editing to have this like quick scramble before tribal, like, what should we do? What's gonna happen? Like anything could happen. Like I don't know. It's I feel like it's more fun and rewarding. Like, I think back to the older seasons I watched of like like the Black Widow brigade like all coming together and like slowly like figuring out like what they were gonna do. Like those are things that are like really fun to watch, but I feel like now it's like always like jumping from people to people talking and really trying to make make it like unsure as to what's going to happen. Sometimes even if it's like kind of predictable, it's still fun to watch and see how it comes together.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Like we wanna see, like, we all knew Eric was gonna be voted out. They literally showed every single vote and gave us the witty comments. That's what we watch for is the drama. That's why Survivor is just a soap opera, because there's heartbreak and betrayal. But let's get into some of our favorite boots of the season, because I will say one good thing about this season is all tongues who rise against Surrey go down pretty quickly. Sorry, Jenna. I obviously favor the older players because I just want that dirty manipulation, the people who actually suffered. But the moment Jenna said Surrey's name, everybody on that island and in this podcast said, gotta go. Who are some of your favorite boots besides that first one?

SPEAKER_01

Again, the Charlie one for me was so fun. Which again, even on the original season, I didn't like hate Charlie. He just like wasn't for me. And like I was super excited, like when Kenzie won. And then like his attitude in the finale and after the season aired, kind of like rubbed me the wrong way. I was like, okay, get over it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he went from annoying to shut up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And now, like, enough time is past. Like, you would think he would come back and just be like, for the few people who like really wanted to see him win, will still be thinking about it. Everybody else, he could have like a fresh start and like really prove that he, outside of losing by a vote, whatever, like is a great player. But instead, he's still like he's still bitter and like making his entire story about Rizzo, which again, I don't I know it's all about like how it's editing what they talk about, but I mean he gave them enough to work with of him talking about Rizzo being annoyed with Rizzo over the over a lie over something Rizzo made up.

SPEAKER_03

The fact that Maria's had more screen time than Tiff this season.

SPEAKER_01

It was just like again, it was so embarrassing to watch and going to this humiliation like kink of this season. Like, I was like, God, this is so embarrassing. I was like, and he has no idea that it's all because of some random like lie that Rizzo probably doesn't even remember he said, and that all the way down to like his cockiness going into the tribal, being like, Yeah, like me and the guys are gonna take out Rizzo, and then Rizzo starts working with the girls, and like Anne Suri is so fun to watch. And that was probably my of all the tribals and vote reveals, that was my favorite of the season, and like his face after, uh, it was so satisfying. That was a fun episode, that part of it.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, Rizzo decided to be a girly. He's like, I need to be on the side of the fans. I'm gonna align myself with the girls and Suri. I am gonna be a fan favorite, and you know what? This is the most I've ever liked Rizzo, and he got him on nerves last season, y'all know. But you know what? This twerp can stay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just for that um voting confessional alone against Charlie, that seemed very much like from a survivor era Operation Battle. Like, and it was, yeah, I think that I agree. I think Charlie's really the only boot that and also obviously Jenna who I am happy about because it was just foolishness going down. Whereas like I feel like a lot of the other contestants, I kind of am like, oh, I would have liked more of them. Especially like I think of I would have loved to see Angelina for longer. I love Angelina.

SPEAKER_03

We didn't see her at all, it feels like. Like, did she have Capanationals? Who's to say?

SPEAKER_01

It was crazy, like her whole ep like I was surprised her own episode where she leaves. We hardly got anything from her, especially following the episode where like uh Mike gets out. Like we didn't get much of her reaction.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like their back-to-back outs, we didn't get a reaction. It's insane.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that seemed crazy. I'm glad she's been outspoken about it, about how the women are being very underedited this season. It's wait, Tiffany again, is one of my favorites going in, so that's the one that's jumped out to me the most.

SPEAKER_03

We're Survivor 46 truthers with Tiff and Kinsey, me and Jesse are. Oh, and where do where do you stand on the Survivor 46 of it all? Because I feel like there's the diehard Charlie side and then the the diehard Kenzie side.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Survivor, I'm in the fans of It's Female, female forward.

SPEAKER_03

Like see, I knew it. Why did I ask? That was a stupid question.

SPEAKER_00

Why did you ask this question? I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Why did you stand here pretending like, I mean, do you like support the girlies? I don't know. I'm gonna find out. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe, you know, it depends.

SPEAKER_03

Um I love that Tiff is bringing like all of Kenzie's buff bow ties to the screen. It's very special for us. Like Kenzie earned that money, she suffered the most. She was on a try with Q most of the time. And you know what? This season is making me miss Q because at least he was chaotic entertainment, you know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like when you look at who's still left and who's gone, like I don't really love Q, but I would have rather his energy uh in turn in comparison to Miss Stephanie or Johnny or Joe. These people who I just don't care for. I I think the contestant I feel the worst for, and it obviously there's nothing he could have done about it is I feel bad for Kyle. And like that was tragic. Yeah, that that sucks.

SPEAKER_03

Like he actually got injured that could ruin his life, like rupturing your Achilles tendon. That that sucks.

SPEAKER_00

I know, and his departure really robbed us of I think Genevieve's game because my girl.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if Genevieve like broke a mirror or something before she got here, but like true, and it makes me so sad to think like all the twists that have again Kyle getting injured, all the other twists that have happened that affected her game specifically, and now seeing her in interviews, but yeah, I'm not good at survivor, I'm not doing this again.

SPEAKER_03

I'm like girl that's gonna be like, Truly, within a day, she managed to secure herself like a really great alliance with this. Is just like I am not condoning these people because they are evil in real life, but she had a great alliance with Colby. She was close with Q, close with Kyle. It is fully insane to me. She seemed okay with Rizzo, she was tight with Stephanie, so she had like a good four or five-person alliance, could have got Eeyore Aubrey out. Aubrey and her little sad sack shit does not work for me. And just the fact Genevieve went to her early on saying, I'd like to work with you, and Aubrey's like, I'm gonna think about that. No. And then Aubrey tries to play victim. I I just don't get it. She's not entertaining. I can't.

SPEAKER_00

No. Like to all those people who think um that Aubrey should have won all those seasons ago. I'm sorry, but Michelle, Michelle should have won that season, and I will never not hear anything other than that.

SPEAKER_03

Like I only support hot girls and bad bitches, and Aubrey is neither. Oh, Genevieve, you're a great survivor player. You are great.

SPEAKER_00

Have you seen Aubrey's original season?

SPEAKER_03

No, now I don't want to.

SPEAKER_00

No, but you would the winner is Michelle, and she is hot, and she is so like. Okay, I will watch for that.

SPEAKER_03

It's just one of those like, you're asking me to watch Eeyore for all that time. It's tough.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And Genevieve also has been screwed because she's found two idols. It just so happens that this season they are the the thou shall not be names, names idols, whereas she can't even have them. Like, she was in like she has I really hope she comes back at some point because if any contestant has been most made a fool, or necessarily so this season, it's Genevieve. And we are robbed of good Genevieve content.

SPEAKER_03

And like she was giving us the content, it was just the fact that she was in a situation where there's tribal swaps and twists and turns and curves, and every single time she was stuck with Aubrey, that is just like leeching the life out of her. It is so rude. But I will say, Genevieve, an icon and a healthy loser, because not only did she lose, she's like, here's my coat, Aubrey, you can have it. And I'm like, the iconic red coat, she doesn't deserve that. You're a better person than me, Genevieve.

SPEAKER_01

Of all again, I started like watching it in time during her season. And like of all the people I've seen since then, she's probably one of the few that I was most like if someone's gonna be on, I'd want it to be her. Just because she played, she was so fun to watch on her season.

SPEAKER_03

Like, it's the fact that she was able to befriend, like become really good friends with Rachel, even though they were like the Titans working against each other. That is real female friendship. That is a way to have healthy competition. And I love the weird, like, I'd say trauma bond of survivor that has bonded that season's cast together because it seems like they all love each other still.

SPEAKER_01

I loved the end of that season where it was like basically it was like those two being like, yep, it's one of us, and there's like four or five other people there who are like I guess I guess they don't they're not worried about us at all. Nope. It was truly there's like, yep, it's gonna be you or me winning.

SPEAKER_03

That season was for the girls and the gays and the bays.

SPEAKER_01

That was a really fun season. Really good cast. I feel like that's what they thought 48 was gonna be received that way or something, based on like how many people they wanted from there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like 48 and 49. I feel like they really bet hard on that. And sadly, Miss Savannah was out very early. She's the second person voted out, third person out overall, because Kyle, his poor injury. I hope he's okay.

SPEAKER_01

So I would I wish I could have seen Savannah and Charlie meeting and him talking about how he was going after you know her ally who didn't vote for her at the end or whatever he believed, and her being like, Yeah, that's not true on Waiza that.

SPEAKER_03

It's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

Like he was a loyal ally all the way to the end.

SPEAKER_03

They were literally like day one, ride or dies.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Honestly, Rizzo is just such a great liar. Like him lying about Savannah, him lying to Camilla about Kyle saying, Oh, we're in it. I love that.

SPEAKER_03

I love that Camilla didn't believe it, but still rolled with it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm glad and I'm glad they kept that in there to be like, she's going with it, but we are gonna show the clip where she acknowledges, like, I don't believe him.

SPEAKER_00

Like, but I think she knew she's like, Charlie sucks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and like I wasn't with 49, I think one of my biggest complaints with it was I felt like they were trying to really push this narrative that Rizzo and Savannah were underdogs. And I'm like, just own the fact that they're like outplaying a lot of these people and that they're like in power most of the time. I like that was the part that frustrated me watching.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Rizzo was like the king of the idol at that point. Nobody was like tick going for his bluff, and then Savannah was a comp beast.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, it's almost like if you're rooting for them, it's probably a very fun season to watch. I wasn't actively rooting for them, so it was really frustrating to watch them continue to succeed. Like, I don't know, but I mean I'm enjoying in this season, the beginning of the season, when like I did appreciate like some of the old school people calling out like how frustrating Joe's way of playing the game is and how hard it is to work with someone like that.

SPEAKER_03

And we talk about the image of Joe in the hammock, and Kristen, the camera person, deserves an Emmy just for that single shot of getting Joe, and then you see Christian with the hammock in front of him, rocking him like a baby, and trying to manipulate him.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a perfect example of taking him out of his controlled like 40A group and putting with all these other players and then being like, Yeah, we're not into this. And then like the same thing with Rizzo, where like at the beginning, when he's like, Yeah, I didn't come here to like do like do all this physical stuff, and like he's like, Can you replace Survivor? And I'm like, that kind of like that to me is why I didn't I would never want to be on Survivor, is because you literally are out on an island.

SPEAKER_03

So what you're saying is we need to put Rizzo on Big Brother and see what happens.

SPEAKER_01

He'd probably love it there. You can just lay on a couch and chill and like warm things up in the microwave and then go lie to somebody.

SPEAKER_03

Honestly, that sounds like my dream. Jesse, did we just do that last fall to be real? Lie on a couch, microwave some things.

SPEAKER_01

But I'm enjoying Rizzo a lot more now. I appreciate his game. Um, and it's again, it's been fun to kind of see him build these relationships and figure it out. Interested to see him come back in the next episode since he basically wasn't in his last one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean he's got a he's got a bit of um Siri fairy dust, you know. Being in any way connected to that woman makes you a better player. I mean, I'm enjoying Ozzie this season much more than I ever have. And I think that's because Siri's sort of rubbing off on him.

SPEAKER_03

I think there's something really great about Ozzy finally getting the dum-dum edit, like a proper, genuine dumb-dum edit where he doesn't know what's going on, but he's still working with the right people, that it works for me. And he also gets to have like the titty baby tantrums, but they're entertaining, so I don't mind it at all.

SPEAKER_00

I like that Sari just has these boys, her little polyamorous these boys and these boys and these girls, like in the vote to vote out Colby, like she was schooling D and um Emily.

SPEAKER_03

And I was like, Yeah, it's like no, you don't take the tail of the snake with Coach, you take the head of the snake with Colby because Colby is the likable one. Colby is the leader, obviously. The most coach has done is give Joe and Colby nicknames. Remember, there was a whole segment of that.

SPEAKER_01

I think I feel like that might have been the same episode that Angelina went out. Might be a different one. I just remember thinking, like, why are we spending so much time on this?

SPEAKER_03

And not Angelina's like reaction to Mike White, her number one like leading.

SPEAKER_01

I get for some people.

SPEAKER_03

Or like Tiff getting a confession.

SPEAKER_01

To me, Coach giving people nicknames could have been like a fun YouTube clip later. But like actually seeing like any of the women in this cast talk about their game or their reactions to other people getting voted out, I felt like it was more episode-worthy. But apparently the hands of the fans don't feel that way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and like there are some people on this show I don't want to win, but at least they're being messy, like Christian and Devons, because they annoy me, but they're at least doing stuff, if that makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Same with like someone like Emily, who she's not annoying me.

SPEAKER_03

I just annoying me because I'm like, you better not get on Suri's bad side. And some of these votes, I'm just like, what are you doing here, girl? But at least something's happening.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she's not like the she's not part of the dare we say honor alliance.

SPEAKER_03

That she's not the most faithful of the faithfuls.

SPEAKER_00

No, the the preseason Zoom alliance.

SPEAKER_03

To be fair, if me and Jesse were ever to go onto a reality show together, we would have a preseason Zoom, and then we would say we we would hate each other throughout the whole season, tell everybody, and then we would actually secretly get them all out.

SPEAKER_01

We're cut from the same claw, yeah. Oh yes. I do see how much other people felt the same way that I did when I heard that, where I was like, hmm, what does that mean?

SPEAKER_00

It's a it's a callback to Survivor series seasons past where there is a lot of um unconscious biases. And that is very much a comment that I'm like, I can't believe the show allowed that in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. But I will say, those men who have made all those alliances together, they all do have a very interesting. We'll just say um political history and her story online. And that's why I could never root for them.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which I get with all-stars things, people are going to like pre-game the sorts in different ways that people can't really control, even just down to the fact that these people are all in the same circles for years and probably say things like, hey, if we're ever on a season together, this is what we'll do. Like only so much they can do to control that. It definitely and Big Brothers had two All-Star seasons, and the second one, a lot of people contribute the pre-gaming to be its downfall, which the pre-gaming did involve almost entirely all the white people working together and not realizing that that's what they were doing. Like makes it a lot fun to watch.

SPEAKER_03

But don't worry, CBS rolled back all its diversity initiatives. It's owned by just a propaganda outlet, basically. And so that's also why I think this season, just the casting itself, because they didn't have to follow any diversity, equity, and inclusion guidelines, I feel like that's why we're suffering right now. Because they're not having diversity and just people and backgrounds, ages, anything. It's just all these people that Jeffrey wants to invite to his barbecue. And then it's like, oh yeah, Suri's here. We have to have Suri. Do you guys want to talk about the challenges? Because um, there's always an obstacle course and a puzzle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, these are like the moments that I feel like would be the I would be always offering to sit out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But it's just not my idea of a good time. Watching Colby just like fall, and like I was like, is he like obviously he was not okay throughout those final episodes?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he like hyper-extended his toe. How do you do that?

SPEAKER_00

And then like Kyle got hurt, like yeah, you're in your 50s competing on Survivor, having can be on Survivor first when you were in your 20s. Sorry, that felt so oh, I kind of just said that. That actually felt so to say because I like I was about to say 30 years. I'm like, it hasn't been on for 30 years, that'd be crazy.

SPEAKER_03

It's been what 26 years?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the challenge to their first all-star season like five or six years ago, and they brought back people from like the 90s and early 2000s to compete again. And I remember like one of the first challenges, they were like, Yeah, that was rough to watch, guys. Like in front of the because like more than half of them had not even done a competition in over a decade. It was all like people who are like 40 plus, and they were like really struggling because especially because the challenge used to not be like that. But I can imagine, especially when this this one is like a combination of people who just were on the island playing these games like a year or two ago or a month ago, and then people who've been gone for a while or their first season was in the early 2000s.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I just know I would die. I would literally be the person where it's like, yeah, they can't air a season because Jesse died during a challenge.

SPEAKER_03

I'm okay with dying personally. I think I am.

SPEAKER_00

I look forward now to we've gotten to the post-merriage because I'm I'm look forward to the individual immunity challenges because yeah, because they're a bit less throw everyone at a fence. It's like people trying to hold themselves on a pole holding. When will those happen? I think they should happen now.

SPEAKER_03

I think there's 14 people left. Do we think they're actually going to like have 14 people competing for one immunity necklace? Or do you think Jeffrey's gonna keep with his little multiplication table and like divide it into two tribes of seven and two people get immunity, but then each of those seven groups, they're gonna go vote somebody out. Do you think they're gonna continue doing that?

SPEAKER_00

Well, we are currently um 50-50 when it comes to men and women.

SPEAKER_03

Thank God. There was like way too many girlies going out so soon.

SPEAKER_01

I was really nervous at the beginning. I almost said luckily, I was like, I actually liked Kyle, but I was like, okay, we lost one guy, which is actually one of the guys that I liked. But at the beginning, it was a lot of a the people who were coming for Cree were the women, which was really frustrating to watch.

SPEAKER_03

Um it was really sad watching up until Charlie, it was all just people of color, women, queer people being voted out.

SPEAKER_01

We finally got straight guy, straight white man out.

SPEAKER_03

Get that stragged out of there.

SPEAKER_00

We haven't even mentioned Mike White. I'm just realizing.

SPEAKER_03

Only in context of Angelina not getting a reaction to Mike leaving, even though they have this deep friendship to the point she's been on the white lotus.

SPEAKER_01

It is funny that he like seemed in the episode when he went out and said, Oh, well, I guess I'm out. Which again, I get like he has like a whole whatever life doesn't need it, whatever. But then outside of it, it seems like he's been pretty bitter about it and like towards Christian.

SPEAKER_03

Which I don't blame him because Christian, yes, he might be playing a messy game and it's sometimes entertaining, depending on the literal day, but he's just throwing people out for no reason. If he was smart, he would get Devons out, his number one, because I feel like that's gonna come back to bite him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, especially since everyone knows they're number one and two. Like I think they think they're the secret alliance, they think they're the Kyle and Camilla, which they're not.

SPEAKER_01

Christian's playing a very entertaining short-term game. I don't like I whenever any of the moves he makes, I don't in my head, it's hard to imagine what his long-term thinking is. And again, I think he knew it would be a big deal for him to get Mike out.

SPEAKER_03

So he wanted to be the one to get Mike out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. There's no there's no player other than the Siri and Aussie Rizzo alliance that I see that we are being presented as sort of being a sort of I can see it going long into the game. All the contestants either seem unable to sort of think about the end game or just only thinking about the short game.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Or just not thinking about it.

SPEAKER_03

A lot of the people are just under-edited because I mean, we barely saw any of Camilla. It's like not even a running joke. It's just like we all are playing where's Tiff, where's Waldo style in the episodes? Because a country music singer in one episode had more confessionals than she did all season.

SPEAKER_01

Even Chrissy, you don't see a lot of we can watch Tiff carry her team to victory in some of these challenges, but we don't get to hear her talk about it or people talk about her.

SPEAKER_03

And she doesn't cheat like certain people in challenges, Kristen.

SPEAKER_01

It's just so frustrating.

SPEAKER_03

Let's give Tiff her flowers for a moment, though, because Owen, that rope action and then her explanation on social media that it was just her double dutch game. Oh my gosh, go off.

SPEAKER_00

Uh we love Tiff, you know? Like, I'm even if Tiff doesn't make it to the end, I'm glad that now she's made it to the merge because I look forward to her at the tri final tribal council replicating her her savage turn on 46, where she was like, I will keep the time.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Uh Tiff was such a good contestant.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. I think I I look forward through I really want to see her game with Sari. I think I could see them do it. I could see them do wonderful things together.

SPEAKER_01

Since like last summer, when I started seeing them like follow each other and like comment on each other's posts on Instagram, I was like, oh my god, I need to watch them on 50. So like I need to see something.

SPEAKER_00

We really do. Because then none of these men, I'm like, I don't care. Coach, I never I I tolerated coach throughout every season I've watched. I his game isn't going to evolve because he's a petty man who, when someone calls him out for being dishonorable, he then goes on to say, I'm the most honorable contestant ever. I'm like, that's not true. You might be telling us that, but your actions say otherwise. You're a villain.

SPEAKER_03

Honorable is not a good phrase in this household, this podcast, because honorable people are like Joe and Eva, who are such horribly boring television that you're just so thrilled when Kyle wins because he at least had an arc on the season and didn't annoy the piss out of all of us.

SPEAKER_01

I love how like the big like backstabbing of that season was the fact that Kyle and Camille had a secret alliance. And that's part of like what goes into the narrative, which again is so like tame compared to like other shows and seasons.

SPEAKER_03

The fact that it haunted Joe.

SPEAKER_01

Where Joe's like, yeah, they they got me in that season, like because they played the actual game when you guys had like a majority good people alliance that was running things. That's so frustrating. I hate that. It makes me think of all the like the most faithful of the faithfuls on the traders. Like I just that mindset when people play these games is so frustrating.

SPEAKER_00

How can I say these people just they know where to get their clothes, you know? They're all the same color, same fabric, all that sort of great stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Same MAGA, yeah. So, y'all, as we just continue through stumbling through Survivor, what would you like to see from the merge point on? We are at one tribe, we'll see how Jeffrey decides to do all of these evictions. We're calling them evictions as well because we're prepping for Big Brother. What do you hope happens next? And who are the next two people you want off Suri's Island?

SPEAKER_00

I just want the women to dominate the individual immunities because it has happened in seasons past. I don't I don't see it happening. I would love if Sari could win one individual immunity throughout her survivor career. I feel like we're owed it. Um contestants who I think are next to go.

SPEAKER_03

I'm scared it's women. I know who I want to go, though.

SPEAKER_00

I think of a woman I want to go. Well, I think we can all think of a woman we want to go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And it's one of those do I want her to go because of personal reasons? Yes. Do I want her to go for game reasons? Could she be useful to Siri?

SPEAKER_00

See, I don't know because I think this woman has she's played many games at Siri, and I don't think they play well together.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I remember Snake in the Grass.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Me too. I think after the other shows they've done together, she's probably very like, okay, I need to, I can't let her get the apprentice one up on me again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I think like a lot of the women this season, or at least several of them have been like, I have to get Siree. Which again, I get maybe to them as like this, like, I have to be the one to take out this legend of female player.

SPEAKER_03

Like literally everybody's favorite player.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I think it's because the men just are so oh, I can physically hold myself together that they don't see Siri as competition. When like, as Sari famously said, when you can't beat him with these, you gotta beat him with these.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Which leads to the two people I want gone. Jonathan, fuck this guy. Do not like him at all for personal and player reasons. He is boring and he looks like he's a girly who slept in a tank top and got stuck.

SPEAKER_01

Seeing him blindsided at Charlie's was fun too. That was another kind of thing.

SPEAKER_03

That was great. And then also get Coach out of there. I don't want him there. He's horrendous, rancid vibes.

SPEAKER_01

Those are obviously love to see Stephanie just not on the show in general. But game purposes, I think Coach and Jonathan are my two that I again they have some influence that I think would be good to have removed. Like I recognize that Christian's also gaining a lot of like power in the game, but I also just don't see him long term making it to I think he's just burned enough and he's played a little too loud and out for him to make it much further without people targeting him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think for me, I agree. I think I'll get rid of Joe. Never care for the thing. Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

That was my third. I just want the other two out first, so Joe has to suffer the losses. I want Joe to be blindsided, I want him to feel insecure, and then I want him to be the third one out.

SPEAKER_01

Does he even realize he's had like several close calls to being voted out this season long? Honestly. No, the hero. I keep thinking like, wow, he's still there. Because like from the beginning, there's been several, like, should should we do Joe this week or Joe later? And they're like, we'll just get Joe later. We know we'll get Joe out at some point. And I'm like, I don't think he has any idea that that's coming.

SPEAKER_03

Like they need to hurry up with this plan, though. Just get him out. You already got two bad bitches out with Camilla and Genevieve, which like, Camilla, why? Why are they doing that? They must hate me and Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

Well, because she got Charlie out. Ugh, fuck. Even though there were four people who voted Charlie out. It was I'm I'm very curious how these groupings were put together because they're so I can't remember how we're at least Tiff was on the right side of that vote trying to get Chrissy out. No, she wasn't. Oh well, for us, yes, but not on like she was blindsided.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

She's on our history, wrong side of the vote.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. And then I have put a curse on Aubrey, Christian, Joe, and Rick for getting Genevieve out. Fuck them guys.

SPEAKER_01

The one thing I last episode, I was just trying to find anything to enjoy in the tribals because again, two like I love Camilla, I love Genevieve. And I was like, at least we could see a guy go out. And then they're all like sobbing, holding each other as Colby goes, and I'm like, can we just have fun for once? Like I was like, I'm don't make me feel bad for wanting another straight white man out of the game.

SPEAKER_03

Like, just especially one that posts pictures of AK-47s on his Instagram for funsies.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I did love Camilla's like exit of burn this man down.

SPEAKER_01

She's so funny.

SPEAKER_03

She really is.

SPEAKER_00

She's like, get his ass. I'm like, go, come on, Tiff, revenge.

SPEAKER_03

Come on, Tiff. We need Tiff to actually play with cool people.

SPEAKER_00

If Mikey Meeks can get her revenge on Drag Race, anyone should be able to get their revenge on a reality show.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Anybody. But I will say, we gotta get Genevieve on the Traders, Traitors Canada, all of them, Big Brother, Big Brother Canada. I'll learn French for that. I'll watch it.

SPEAKER_00

Can we get Genevieve on um Canada's um track race as a guest judge?

SPEAKER_03

Or a makeover contestant.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Oh my god, you know she would have fun. Her Venus and Marianne and Erica. That'd be so good.

SPEAKER_03

Genevieve's just cool. And Genevieve, you will never listen to this, but I just want you to know we all love you. You are on the right side of history. The fans love you. The real fans, not the fake ones who voted in Jeff Freeze needs to be audited votes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, stop the count. Some of the fan adding up here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, there was like a weird influx of votes from Texas.

SPEAKER_00

It's sad that she hasn't made the jury because at least if she was voted out during the era where she's on the jury, at least we'd see her every episode. But now we're deprived of that.

SPEAKER_03

You remember how fun the Survivor 47 jury was every time they walked in, and it was just like you could just tell that they were all gossiping. Everyone was having a good time. I miss chaotic Andy. Bring him back. Even just for like one day on the island to terrorize people.

SPEAKER_00

Bring Sue back.

SPEAKER_03

Bring Sue back. She was so much fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What a time.

SPEAKER_03

Remember when Sue lied about her age?

SPEAKER_01

Wasn't Sue on that other show during this time? Was she on like that Mr. Beast show?

SPEAKER_03

Mr. Beast?

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know these things. Let's not talk about him because we will have to talk about him, unfortunately, eventually.

SPEAKER_03

Will we though?

SPEAKER_00

Well, we didn't mention the country singer, so that's good on us.

SPEAKER_03

No, we have not. And I'm just like, that's what he looks like.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know who he was to like a couple years ago.

SPEAKER_03

I knew he who he was because my brother has have listened to his music when he was like first coming out, like 16 years ago or so. But then I'm just like, that's what he looks like.

SPEAKER_01

I think I think Big Brother24 people talked about him on the live feeds, and that's when I first looked him up because one of the people in the cast had like worked for him at some point.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. Well, we've all worked and met famous people before. Who cares?

SPEAKER_01

It seems like some straight culture thing.

SPEAKER_03

It is deeply straight.

SPEAKER_00

That's what Survivor needs. It needs a bit of queerness.

SPEAKER_03

A lot of queerness.

SPEAKER_00

Like, do we have any queer contestants left?

SPEAKER_03

Um, let's just run through who is left. Tiff, queer adjacent, Stephanie, um, electric chair. Rizzo is a girly, Devons is in hell. Ozzy! Ozzy's our queer. Because then as Jonathan Joe, Emily Flippin, D, coach, Suri, mother, Christian, Chrissy, and Aubrey.

SPEAKER_00

That is.

SPEAKER_03

We have a very cursed like cast of who's left.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, we had a very cursed cast to begin with.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I will only support people who support Suri and because I have a deep agenda. And if it's not Suri, it needs to be Tiff.

SPEAKER_00

For me, it needs to be Sari. I agree with Parvity. She needs a crown.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And when I say if it's not Suri, it needs to be Tiff. It's just like the closest thing we can get to somebody who doesn't suck.

SPEAKER_00

I will even take Rizzo.

SPEAKER_03

At this point, Rizzo's a girly. I do like that. Dee came to Rizzo with the idea for Charlie, and then Rizzo just took it and ran. Like the little tattling liar he is. Good for him.

SPEAKER_00

I'll even take D. Like I I enjoy D.

SPEAKER_03

Whenever we get to see her.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, I look forward to the preview for next week. Her yelling at Jonathan because I look because she is sp like when in this lat most recent episode when she called out Coach straight away because he had his terrible lying skills. I was like, go off.

SPEAKER_03

It is so nice to watch a hot girly yell at a man.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Jeffrey, that's our kink.

SPEAKER_00

And be in the right, because of course she's in the right.

SPEAKER_03

Where she's like, Of course, why did you think everything coach does is wrong.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So, y'all, any final thoughts of these first six episodes of Survivor?

SPEAKER_00

I believe it's been only six. Well, that's because the first episode was three hours long.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's fair.

SPEAKER_00

Where one person was eliminated, and then what was it, Medivect?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. They should have eliminated like six people right off the bat.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Also, it's the largest um cast, and it shows the fact that we've had two episodes back to back where five people total have been eliminated is crazy.

SPEAKER_03

And we still have too many people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We have what seven episodes seven episodes left?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's a 13-episode season, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The remainder of what we have left is like the equivalent of like other reality shows, like starting in December.

SPEAKER_03

So, y'all, here's a chaotic question as we start to wrap up. I need you to rank the reality shows, the the three big ones. Although, Jesse, if you want to toss House of Villains in there, you can. Current season of Drag Race, Traitors US season four, Survivor 50. Let's rank these from best to worst.

SPEAKER_01

I would say, I mean, currently, I have a lot of mixed feelings about Drag Race, but if this season ends the way I'm hoping it's going to end, I would still put it up. Again, with each of these survivors, similarly, if it ends very specifically the way I would like it to, then that would help it. Drag race now, again, we have like what two episodes left. So I would say if specifically the person we're all rooting for pulls it out at the end, I think she's a very deserving winner. Slip it around. That to me that would make it a solid season. I've enjoyed it for the most part, and I've enjoyed the unpredictability of it. It's been crazy.

SPEAKER_03

The boot order is insane, and yet I am still entertained every single episode.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So kind of good balance with that. So that I would say I would firmly put that as number one of the three. It's so hard after because like I know what my number two is if I add in extra things.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, we've all watched UK versus the world season three, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh, we can actually talk about that. Okay, Jesse. Sorry. Need to change my ranking. UK versus the world season three. Then Drag Race US franchise. 18. I had to think what season we were on there. And then I would say House of Villains because there's something very special about Kate Chastain in New York having this weird Lucy and Ethel thing where they're not technically aligned together, but they're the best duo we've had in forever. Could not explain it.

SPEAKER_01

Did you watch the last episode?

SPEAKER_03

I still need to. It's been a time.

SPEAKER_01

They're really dragging out Kate's content and like her reign of being like super villain, whatever. Like it's good. They're they know what they're doing.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, and it's very fun. And then I would probably say Survivor than Traitors, because Traitors was just a mess that was always off the rails.

SPEAKER_01

It's hard to say because, like, I think when it was early at the beginning of the traitor season, I Was enjoying it and still hopeful. So, like when it was probably at this point in the season, I was probably still enjoying it. So I'm hopeful that the rest of Survivor will be better, but I was like it's traders.

SPEAKER_03

So what you're saying is it's first half of Traders and then Survivor and then the second half of Traders.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I had more fun the beginning of Traders this year than I did the beginning of Survivor this year. But overall, traders season four, the rest of it, I was just had a lot of frustrations with, whereas I still have apprehensive hope for 50. And we found some fun moments with the six episodes we've had in the hundred people that we've seen. There's so many.

SPEAKER_03

Owen, do you have a ranking or is it very similar to ours?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's I think it's the exact same. Um UK versus the world season three just proves that. It was so fun.

SPEAKER_03

We had a great top four.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just proves that UK um versus the world season one was a fluke.

SPEAKER_03

Seasons two and three have been some of my favorite drag race. The fact that we can just re-watch it pretty easily and have a great time. Oh, and I love that Mariah came out and just what a great run for her.

SPEAKER_00

Didn't know who anybody was, was just there to have fun.

SPEAKER_03

And everybody knew every little detail of her history and track record.

SPEAKER_00

Zahaira.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, what a great cast.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, and then season 18. I'm I'm happy it's going to be over soon because it means that all stars is soon. But I'm sort of enjoying the well, for me, not necessarily unpredictability because I read into things. Um you read ahead. I I read ahead, yeah. I read books. Um depends on.

SPEAKER_03

Sorry, people did not see me just start cackling.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and then yeah, Traitors happened. And unfortunately, Traitors is probably gonna win the Emmy again, which I'm like, no, let's go. Oh, god.

SPEAKER_03

At this point. No, like let's he was barely checked in.

SPEAKER_00

Can we give it to RuPaul just for attempting to make me cry by crying with no tears in this past episode?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think RuPaul cries anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Well, she can make her voice sound like she cries.

SPEAKER_03

She's good at holding the moisture in. But I will say, I think this season of current drag race is just really destroying all the competition. I think RuPaul's having more fun than ever as a host between UK and US. I am so glad we ended our survivor talk by talking about drag race. As we get out of here, tell the people where they can find you and a good TV show to watch. Owen, where can the good people find you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you can find me across all social medias and my name, Own Daily. There is a lot of great television. We are currently in April. We are in the last two months of MA eligibility, which means that thousands of shows are going to premiere. But for what's coming up this week, I think we all as a collective must mourn the fact that we are getting the final season of hacks.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not ready, but I'm glad they're going out on top. It's one of those I don't want to see it just like go on forever and not be as good. But I'm going to miss these characters viscerally.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And also a shout out to also an HBO is the comeback, which is also having its final season and is thoroughly enjoyable. The fact that we are going to now have weekly Valerie Cherish and Deborah Vance on our television screens is is too much, but I love every second of it.

SPEAKER_03

Two divas stand before me. That Emmy battle is gonna be wild. Luckily, every season of the comeback is the final season, so hopefully, the next final season we won't have to wait what 15 years or so. How long's it been?

SPEAKER_00

10 years.

SPEAKER_03

It feels longer.

SPEAKER_01

It's like 20 years the first season and 10 to the second. Oh god.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

This is some like before sunrise bullshit.

SPEAKER_01

I was like in high school when the first season came out, college or just how.

SPEAKER_03

That's true. Jesse, where can the good people find you? And what's a TV show that you recommend?

SPEAKER_01

I'm Speak Up Jesse across social media. Similar to Owen. I'm so excited for the final season of Hacks. And the third episode of the comeback is tonight, I believe. And trying to think what other shows are coming back.

SPEAKER_03

And it doesn't even have to be a returning show. It could be a show you're re-watching.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm caught up on the pit. The pit has been good. HBO really is giving us the content right now.

SPEAKER_03

So wait, I do have a small galaxy brain question before you continue your recommendations. Do you have the do both of you have the same problem I do whenever they say baby Jane dough that you hear baby Jane don't?

SPEAKER_01

I think that's too honestly too soon.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, I've written a letter to Daddy.

SPEAKER_01

Daddy. Here it goes. I'm enjoying that. House of Villains has been really fun. Um mostly just because again, it's Kate Trustain's show at this point. She's like the most featured throughout every episode now, it seems, which is the right choice. Again, I can never get into the other seasons as much. I don't know, but this season specifically, like they can't again. I think they understand the fact that the actual game they're playing is like a very simplified version of like Big Brother or whatever. Like the game itself isn't that fun. It's the characters and the villains that are playing in it, and like all of them colliding, which is what makes it fun to be.

SPEAKER_03

It really is. And it's one of those, I don't know if Kate's gonna win at all, but she keeps not trying and challenges and winning. So I think that is hilarious. She's excellent television. And once again, when she told New York, as New York was going downstairs, don't yell at people without me. That was like right to my heart.

SPEAKER_01

And we need Candy Muse in this most recent episode, and I love Candy.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

It was like again, all of these different things, like chance from The Real Chance of Love, I Love New York Days was on, Josh from Big Brother, like all these different people, Davina from Selling Sunset. I was like, gosh, all these people I've watched on TV off and on for like the last 20 years, just hanging out.

SPEAKER_00

Can we could we quickly go back to the pit and just shout out um surprise um Dr. Mohan?

SPEAKER_03

One of the most beautiful people to walk this earth. I am so pissed off that she won't be returning. She's my favorite doctor.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I'm concerned for her character because she's not having a great day. And that Robbie man is being a bitch.

SPEAKER_03

Like, his misogyny was already bad enough in season one, but he is just like personally attacking her at every turn that he can. Meanwhile, he's just like coddling every little twink boy in that hospital. Fuck off. I mean, maybe we should give Dr. Mohan a gun. We'll just see what happens. Give Dana a gun. See what happens.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Dana probably has a gun already.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe she should.

SPEAKER_00

Also, Emma. Oh, sweet nurse, Emma.

SPEAKER_03

She's been through it. What a first day. And she's like, I'm fine. And it's like, girl, you ain't fine. And then y'all, I'm Chell 725 on the Blue Sky, mostly serialized, occasionally letterboxed. And then we're at shh, my stories are on on all platforms. Check the show notes for that. And then I do the Q Division, a James Bond movie marathon podcast with Gavin. We have some fun, fake James Bond movies planned for this summer. We need a break from the toxic masculinity between Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. So look out for that. And then we have Across the Hooniverse with our other co-host Paige, who's not here today. And we're just watching episodes of Doctor Who with our friends and forcing people to watch it for the first time, like Morgan and Jesse. We're gonna have Jesse on for kind of a reality TV episode of Doctor Who, but in the future, it's a lot of fun. And then yeah, a TV show I've been watching. Um dear God, besides all of them. I one of my favorite things every spring is the great British bake-off stand-up to cancer specials where they bring the celebrities in to bake. And they're all so bad at it, but it's so funny. So I've been watching a lot of those, along with like my usual soaps and House of Villain. And then what else? Oh, yeah, selfie. I do that with Jen on the And a Rewatch feed. Go check that out. John Cho is very hot. Thank you for listening. We'll see you at the next story time.
