A leaky roof, a blue tarp, and a stack of starry bedtime books—sometimes the best stories start in the mess. We hit record outside the shop at nine at night, waiting for a roofer and choosing optimism anyway. That tension between chaos and comfort shapes everything: the fear of losing a small bookstore we’ve grown to love, the decision to finish our season together, and the quiet relief that a familiar lullaby still works when the rain won’t quit.
We dive into a quick, heartfelt tour of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in formats built for real life. There’s a rip-proof, washable indestructible baby book for sticky fingers and storm gear. Pete the Cat adds cozy character energy that keeps bedtime friendly when nerves run high. A lift-the-flap version inspired by Eric Carle creates gentle surprises that focus busy minds, and a shadow book turns a flashlight into a home theater, projecting stars across the wall so kids can chase light and story at the same time. Along the way, we talk about why these formats matter—durability, interactivity, and rhythm all help families build a steady routine, especially when the world feels unsteady.
Between recommendations, the conversation keeps circling back to purpose. Why keep going when everything is damp and inconvenient? Because closing a season matters. Because finishing together matters. Because a bookstore is more than shelves; it’s a refuge that deserves watchful care. We wrap with a soft Twinkle Twinkle duet, a wink at our mysteriously timely “band,” and a simple plan to stay the night with books and a flashlight with big batteries. It’s not glamorous, but it’s honest—and it works.
If you love children’s bedtime books, indestructible baby reads, Pete the Cat stories, lift-the-flap adventures, or low-tech shadow play that turns darkness into wonder, this one is for you. Press play, share it with a friend who needs a calm night ritual, and subscribe so you don’t miss what comes next. Leave a review and tell us your favorite star-themed bedtime book—we’re building our storm-night reading list together.
Under The Tarp Intro
SPEAKER_02It's time for Baby Baby and Evil Glaxi's Book Point Book Review Podcast. Book Reviews Incarnate. Look at the pretty stars, baby.
SPEAKER_01Glexie, you have a propensity for understatement. Did you know that?
SPEAKER_02Why do you say that, baby?
Roof Trouble And Resolve
SPEAKER_01It's because we're sitting outside at nine o'clock at night waiting for a roofer to come and help us with our roof that fellow in thanks to a rainstorm. I know it's a pain, baby. And we're sitting under a blue tarp all cuddled up, trying to survive the night. And then you're almost annoyingly glass half away. Well, let me You're sitting there looking at the stars. I believe in flickers. Look at Clexi. I'm conflicted. I get it. I hate this contract, but I've grown to love my little bookstore. Yeah. I really have grown to really like this, and I don't want to lose it in something as silly as a rainbow.
SPEAKER_02I don't think you will, baby. I think your heart's in the right spot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well.
SPEAKER_02And things are gonna work out real well. And I think you're having fun in your bookstore.
SPEAKER_01And what, Clexi?
SPEAKER_02I've got the perfect books for wishing on a star.
SPEAKER_01Can you ever give it a rest, Clexi?
SPEAKER_02Well, first off.
SPEAKER_01Even now, in the midst of disaster, you're seeing some way to make the podcast. Yep. But why, Clutchy? Why? Why is it so important to do this podcast?
SPEAKER_02Because it's the last episode of our season. Right. And I thought maybe you would want to get it over with. Because I know it's been really hard on you, baby. You really love me, it seems. I get it.
SPEAKER_01There's a reason to live. Oh, I love it. I want you. Okay. Um new approach here. Okay. Okay. Then Gloxi, please fill us in all the books that you have to watch. Okay, I will. And I will stand by and wait patiently until you introduce them.

SPEAKER_02The magic of Hollywood, I guess.
Staying For The Night
SPEAKER_01Well, this has been real fun. Because see, I'm gonna go home. I'm cold.
SPEAKER_02Well, baby, I think I'll just stay here and watch out for the store.
SPEAKER_01We've done our podcast, I've done it.
SPEAKER_02And make sure everything stays safe. And just in case the roofer comes in early.
SPEAKER_01Some good books. We have a whole store. Ah, okay. I hate it when you're right. I'll stay with you.
SPEAKER_02That's great news, baby. Yay! I guess I'll stay with you. I'd really like that, baby, because we got lots of books to read, and we have a flashlight.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I hate it when you're right.
SPEAKER_02With big batteries.
SPEAKER_01You got the flashlight? Yep.
