Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief - Wednesday, Jan 14
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Wednesday, January 14th, 2026. That's right. Today is Hump Day. Congratulations, you made it to midweek. This is your daily local updates for Quincy, George Winchester, and Crescent Bar. It. It matters to our community. We're talking about it. In the next few minutes, we're gonna cover today's weather, what's happening around town, local school, sports, and activities.
Schools, city council, police, fire churches, and local businesses. Whether you're hitting work, getting the kids out the door, or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected with what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with a day's forecast.
Today we're looking at a little cloudy this morning, and we are right at that temperature to make frost possible for your car. So be sure and gave yourself that extra couple minutes to defrost your car this morning if you need it. If you're like my car and you happen to park in the [00:01:00] shadow, you're definitely gonna have some frost this morning, so be sure and give yourself just that extra couple minutes.
We have some Aries patchy fog this morning and. We're looking at a high in the low forties For today, big shout out. Congratulations to our Quincy Jacks men's C team on winning their basketball game against Grandview last night.
The other Quincy Jacks teams didn't fare so well in the basketball team last night, uh, and suffered some tough losses. But you know what, guys do your best. We're proud of you. Keep working hard and you'll have a better game next time. Guys.
Today in Useless Facts is National Hot Past Army sandwich today. Now, I don't know about you, but I love a hot past Army sandwich. If you don't, I'm sorry, whoever makes up these obnoxiously unreal [00:02:00] days apparently didn't have much creativity for today. So there's not much to out for you. But hey, go grab yourself a hot pasty sandwich and enjoy that.
If you enjoy pasty today. Going on around town today at the Quincy Senior Center, there's a chat and stitch at 1:00 PM. We have an announcement we need to make a correction for an earlier broadcast. Uh, yesterday we talked about MOPS Co, or sorry, mom Co. I'm still getting used to the fact they changed the name.
It used to be called mops. It was reported an error that the spring session has, was starting this week. In fact, the spring session for MCO slash MOPS starts on Tuesday, March 3rd. So be sure and reach out to QFMC. That's Quincy Free Methodist Church where they host that. If you are still looking to get involved with the spring MCO session, it's not too late.
That starts Tuesday, March 3rd, and I want to thank re over the library for letting me know that I really [00:03:00] appreciate it, guys. That is how we get these announcements put together. Is the community coming together and sharing. So if you have upcoming announcements about what's going on, be sure to reach out to us at info@thefallibleman.com and we'll try and get these announcements on the air and get them correct as we go.
The city's of Quincy's rec department is happy to announce that their player size program is now happening each Thursday from eight 30 to 10:30 AM and it's free to all preschool aged children at the rec department building near downtown. So moms, if you're looking for something to do tomorrow, to connect with other moms and just have some time where your kids can play and you can take a breather and enjoy life as a mom.
Be sure and check out our amazing program with the Quincy Rec Department and go to player size on Thursdays. Now is time for the joke of the show, and I know you guys love the morning Bad jokes 'cause. Well, who [00:04:00] doesn't love morning Bad jokes, but these are so good because my kids actually looked 'em up for me because I'm bad at this.

Whether you're volunteering or you're donating are helping out any way, but this is a great service for the families here in the valley. The Quincy Cornhole League starts tonight and runs for the next six weeks. It cost us $40 a team, and it takes place Wednesdays [00:05:00] from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Pioneer Elementary cafeteria.
Go get your cornhole on guys. Uh, this is a round robin tournament that goes on for five weeks with the championships on week six. The Quincy right department is also hosting a DYI cards class tomorrow. So you haven't missed this. If you're looking to go and get your watercolor on, there's an upfront cost of about $30, I believe, 30 or $35.
You can check the Quincy Departments for that and go and make your own personal cards, and you get to take them home at the end of the night. And the best part, you don't even have to do the cleanup afterwards. So check out the DYI watercolor cards class tomorrow from six 30 to 8:00 PM. And go make some beautiful art and get to know some really cool people in our community.
Now guys, before we jump into this week in Quincy Jack's life, we're gonna cover upcoming city administration news announcements, and then jump into Quincy Jacks [00:06:00] sports and events. The Port of Quincy commission meeting and hearing that are held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Well, that's today.
So there's a Port of Quincy commission meeting today at 4:00 PM. From what I understand, you can attend that online or you can attend that in person at our beautiful port of Quincy building. Quincy Animal Shelter would like to remind you, once again, your dog must be licensed in The city of Quincy and licenses renew every January 1st.
Current fees are listed on the city rates resolution, and can be found on the city website. Go get your dogs registered and licensed guys. And that plays directly into our next announcement. I haven't seen an update, guys. I looked this morning at four 30 in the morning. As of the recording, I haven't seen a response.
Yesterday, the Quincy Animal Shelter found a beautiful little lost pup. It was reported to them and it was picked up near Pioneer [00:07:00] Elementary. It's a beautiful little puppy, so be sure and check out their Facebook page. There's a number and a picture. Help them get this dog home if they haven't gotten a home yet, guys, that's one of the amazing things we can do in this community, is we can help people get their pets back.
We can help each other. This way. It's a small couple minutes out of your day. Check out the picture of the animal and help this puppy get home.
