Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief - Tuesday, Jan 20 2026

Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quin. Today is Tuesday, January 20th, 2026. This is your daily local update for Quincy, George Winchester and Crescent Bar. If it matters to our community, we are talking about it. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school, sports and activities, school news, city council, police, fire churches, and local business.

Whether you're heading to work or getting kids out the door or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day with us and let's get started with the forecast this morning. Clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine, but look for areas patchy fog developing and the possibility of freezing fog this morning, which is always a possibility here in our lovely Quincy High, around 35, a much warmer day than yesterday.

With winds, light and variable. It's currently a crisp 28 degrees this [00:01:00] morning. Can't say for sure whether this's gonna be frost on your windshield or not, guys, but give yourself that extra few minutes just in case to be safe. And hey, if you don't have frog frost on your windshield, that buys you a little extra time to grab that level latte or something else on the way to work today.

If you need a reason to celebrate, it's National Cheese Lovers Day. Whether you like string cheese, block cheese, shredded cheese, cheese wheels. Are those cute little baby cheeses that people buy for the holidays? Enjoy cheese today and hey, have a little fun being cheesy. Thankfully, we're a cheese household, so.

My kids love me no matter how cheesy I am, which is always a great thing for me.

The Quincy Senior Center hosts several weekly events that all are welcome to attend today and Thursday. There's an exercise class at 1:00 PM and today and Thursday they also have Mex play Mexican train at 6:30 PM after dinner. Bridge is at 12:30 PM on Wednesdays. [00:02:00] And for crafters, there's a craft, a chat and stitch on Wednesday at 1:00 PM now.

Now you can't get by without your bad joke of the day. So here is your daily bad joke to you started this morning. How do bumblebees get to school? They take a buzz.

And just because that one was so bad. What is the tallest building in the world? The library. It has the most stories

We threw in an extra one 'cause that first show was just so bad this morning. Happening around town this week. Quincy Adult Corn Hope League plays tomorrow and runs for the next six weeks. Costs us $40 a team. You'll have to reach out to the We Rec department to see if they have slots still open. This takes place on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Pioneer Elementary.

In the cafeteria. [00:03:00] For teens and adults who enjoy discussing films that have been adapted for books, the George Public Library is offering a movie showing on Wednesday, January 21st at 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM with a discussion on the book and the differences in the book and the movie, and how the adaptation worked.

On February eight, Quincy Partnership for Youth is hosting the Strengthening Families Program starting next week. It's a seven week session. Our seven weekly sessions, however you wanna say that, to strengthen family connection, help youth ages 10 to 14 build skills to resist peer pressure and enjoy meaningful family time.

Parent slash caregiver participation is required. Session includes learning practical skills, as well as fun hands-on activities that families can do together. Free dinner and childcare are provided with pre-registration. Space is limited. Sessions will be held from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Quincy High School.

First [00:04:00] English session is Tuesday, January 27th, and the first Spanish session is Wednesday, January 28th. Registration can be found at their website, quincy partnership.org. That's quincy partnership.org. Aiken's Market's proud to announce they partner with ACE Sushi franchises and will start offering fresh daily rolled sushi with sushi offerings beginning.

Possibly this week if I read that right on the release, all the rolls we made fresh daily with sustainable fresh sushi grade fish, they'll also be featuring $6 rolls every Wednesday. I love some sushi guys. I can't wait to try it. As you're going around town this week, remember the challenge that IU last week.

If you're not familiar with the idea, the Art Challenge has acts of random kindness inspired by the movie being almighty. When I was going through some of my old movies. Do something nice today for somebody just because you can't smile at people. Use please and thank you liberally and buy strangers.

Maybe buy a [00:05:00] stranger's coffee or pay for their order, the drive through. Let's make Quincy a better place by the way we treat each other. Now, before we jump into this week's Quincy Jacks life, we're going to cover up some upcoming city administration news and announcements, and then we'll jump into Quincy Jacks sports and events.

Tonight is the city. Of Quincy Council meeting at the City Hall from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM All people are encouraged to attend. The city of George also has a city council meeting in George at 7:00 PM now, as we head back to school after the holiday yesterday, please remember that there is no school this coming Friday for records day, yes, survive.
