Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, and welcome to your Hump Day edition of the Good Morning Quincy WA Newscast. This is your daily local update for Quincy George Winchester Crescent Bar, and Sunland States. All of the 9 8 8 4 8. If it matters to our community, we are talking about it.

In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town. School, sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church community, and local business news. Whether you're heading to work, getting the kids out the door, or just easing into that day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community.

Grab your coffee, get ready for the day, and let's start with today's weather forecast. Warm morning this morning. Currently 43 here at the studio. [00:01:00] High chances of rain on and off throughout the morning and early afternoon. Highs in the low to mid fifties, windy with wind. Southwest 15 to 25 mile an hour with gusts up to 30.

So keep an eye on it if you're driving a larger vehicle. And it's just letting us know that spring is coming to our area, right? What would Quincy be in the spring without some wind? Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 37 degrees. Jack Sports Recap is taking a short break. We'll be back with more of that.

Uh, hopefully I'll have some updates for you on the Boys wrestling tomorrow morning. And if you're looking for a reason to celebrate, we have lots of 'em today. Today is a national dance. The Waltz Day. That's right. Grab that special, somebody hum those. Notes that we all know from every bad movie ever.

And take that [00:02:00] special someone for a spin in the middle of the grocery store. Why not? It's National Walls Day. It's also National Snack Day. And who doesn't love a good snack? My daughters and I were watching movies last night and had some great snacks I guess I should have waited for today. And if nothing else, it's national Pound cake day.

And hey, if you head over Aikens, they usually have some pretty good pound cake out and ready for great consumption today around Quincy at the senior center. There's bridge from at 12:30 PM today for crafters. There's the chat and Stitch at 1:00 PM and the lunch menu is posted on the notes section of Welcome to quincy wa.com as usual.

Tonight, gather a group of friends and have a great time learning something new. The City of George is hosting line dancing lessons for for beginners, offered on Wednesday evenings from six to 7:30 PM at the George Community Hall for $10 for each lesson. America's getting [00:03:00] ready to celebrate her 250th birthday this year, and flags have gone up around town as Quincy gets ready to celebrate this historic milestone.

They can only go up on the metal poles due to safety issues, but our town is gearing up to celebrate veterans operation Creation has announced that their team has upgraded their luminaries. Used for our patriotic holidays to honor armed forces suspend members from the original paper version to a new plastic version.

They welcome the public to pick them, the original luminaries and make a new one. Just stop by. Win Mere Realty here in Quincy. Today is $6 sushi rolls at Aikens in the new sushi department, and there's a volunteer opportunity today at 6:30 PM in George George Samuel Children's Egg Hunt. It is sponsored by the George Washington, Georgia Jets and the George Community Hall, and they're asking for volunteer to help stuff.

Eggs for the hunt this evening. It's Wednesday, so I know you're filling that need for that bad [00:04:00] joke. So here it is. What does the librarian use to go fishing a bookworm?

In upcoming events, the Quincy Rec Department would like to invite you to the daddy daughter Nance on Saturday, March 7th from six 30 to 8:30 PM. Tickets are $20 per person for the in-city rate and are available for purchase online at www dot Quincy Washington. US festivities include music, dancing, food and drinks, and a fun photo backdrop for pictures.

The 9 8 8 4 8 Vision group invites you to join us March 9th for our community dinner and action planning session last year. Hundreds of people from the 9 8 8 4 8 area shared what matters most. Now it's time to turn [00:05:00] those ideas into action, share a free meal, and work together on healthy and youth families, community connection and belonging, outdoor recreation and tourism.

Local business and economy Activities for children are available. It will be a bilingual event. Quincy Public Library is excited to announce they're hosting a United States Citizenship Study Group. This weekly citizenship class will help you prepare for the newest version of the naturalization test. Get up-to-date information, review eligibility requirements, and study the US history and civics required for the test.

All materials and resources are provided classes in English only. Classmates at four 3:30 PM [00:06:00] starting March 9th. They complete schedule. Visit our local library in church events. Faith Community Church has youth group tonight at 6:30 PM open all sixth through 12th graders, junior high and high schoolers gathered together to spend time with friends together and hear the word and play some awesome games.

Here is your countdown to Sunday when daylight savings time officially ends and our clocks get reset one hour forward. Yep. That's this coming Sunday. Seems like it just kind of sneaks up on you, doesn't it? Here's a question for you though. Are you looking forward to getting an extra hour of sleep or do you wish they would just stop messing with a time twice a year and go to a standard time as.

Our neighbors to the North are getting ready to do, let us know. We'd love to hear your opinion on this one. Now, before we jump into Quincy Jack's life, we're gonna cover city admin news and that announcements, and then jump into Quincy Jack sports and events. [00:07:00] The Quincy Rec Department is urgently in need of seven more coaches for the upcoming spring soccer season.

Please contact Russ ASAP if you can coach his team at 5 0 9 7 8 7 3 5 2 3 extension 2 5 1. Currently there are around 270 children signed up for this amazing soccer session. Uh, our rec department does such a great job and so many parents step in and help out with this. But to pull off this season plainly.

This recognition reflects QP D'S commitment to serving and protecting our community. They're proud of this and we're proud of the dedication and professionalism that our QPD driven demonstrates every single day here in our town.

As our local police department, be sure and thank one of our police officers if you see them around today and congratulate them. This is an an outstanding achievement and we should absolutely be proud as the community of the job that RPD is doing. So be sure and let them know. Maybe buy them a coffee.

in school News Spirit Week continues at the high school. Today is band the Dance Day, so wear all black clothing. This is in line with the upcoming production of Footloose coming this weekend on Friday and Saturday. Be sure and check out that production. If you have not seen that yet, you have missed out.

It is an incredible production. We wrote up a story on it over at welcome to quincy wa.com. Check it out, get a nice little preview there, and then go to the show this weekend. But in honor of what's going on with the show right now, it is Spirit Week. So ladies and gentlemen, break out your best black clothes as you head to school this morning.

Pioneer Elementary is having a parent advisory committee meeting tomorrow at 6:00 PM and the 50th through 50th annual Spaghetti Feed fundraiser will be held on Friday, March 6th. That's this coming Friday from [00:10:00] five 30 to 7:30 PM at Quincy Middle School. Tickets us are $7 each and it's eat in or take out.

This week in Jack's Sports and Activities News tonight, the Quincy Jack's seventh and eighth grade wrestling team compete in Leavenworth in a three school meet. Please, please, please somebody. The wrestling meats are the hardest things for me to get any kind of resort results for. Please. If you guys know how this turns out tonight, how the kids do, let us know so we can celebrate them tomorrow morning here on the show.

And a huge congratulations to our Quincy fifth grade a a u girls basketball team for qualifying for the A A U State Basketball Tournament in Spokane. The team is proud to be representing our small town, and in order to make this experience possible for the team, they're seeking donations to help cover the expenses for the [00:11:00] trip to Spokane.
