Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Monday, March 9 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Monday, March 9th, 2026, and if you're like me, you're feeling that time change yesterday, a little more this morning even than you did yesterday. That's okay. We're gonna get through it. This is your daily local update for Quincy George Winchester Crescent Bar Sunland Estates, and all of the 9 8 8 4 8.
If a managed to our community, we're talking about it. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school, sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church and community, local business news. Whether you're heading out to work, getting the kids out the door are just easing into your day.
We're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with today's forecast. [00:01:00] It is definitely colder this morning. In fact, it's sitting right around 32, but it feels even colder than that. Uh, it's a significant temperature drop for the weekend, especially Such a beautiful day yesterday.
Sunny with a high near 46 today, but nowhere near yesterday's temperatures, winds from the west, 10 to 17 miles an hour with gusts as high as 25 like yesterday's. Exciting wind and dropping back down tonight, mostly clear with a low around 26. Yep, we're back. It is, well, it's the 9 8 8 4 8 springtime. What can I say?
The humidity is lower this morning, but give yourself some extra space just in case you got some windshield wet process this morning. I know it'll be hard to get your kids back in the jackets today after that glorious weather yesterday, but they'll absolutely need it this morning. So make sure they're dressed warm, especially if they're walking to school.
And [00:02:00] our Jack Sports Recap, our Jack soccer teams played this more weekend at their jamboree here in Quincy. It was three schools besides the Jacks, and it was a series of 20 minute games with a running clock, just nonstop go, go, go. It was kind of the kickoff to soccer season, uh, multiple teams from around the area.
Regular seasons starts this week, so look for Jacks updates later this week, as well as our baseball team was playing some scrimmage games yesterday, or, sorry, not yesterday, Saturday, uh, against each other. It was a busy weekend around here. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today is national napping day.
In light of yesterday being daylight savings time, and I'm guessing if you're like me, you could use a nap today as well. If that's not enough. It's National Meatball Day, so. [00:03:00] If you're brave in the kitchen, you can make some meatballs today. Uh, I have not mastered that yet, but I'm sure I will get it sooner or later.
And it's awesome. National crab meat day. Uh, be careful about that. Living on the side of the mountains, that's not as readily available as it is over on the other side of the mountains. So be discerning about where you get your crab meat from today around Quincy. The senior center hosts several weekly events that are all are welcome to attend, and on Monday they have Coffee Hour at 10:00 AM they got Line Nancy at 1:00 PM and they host Bridge on Mondays at two 15.
If you're interested in the menu for each day, we have it posted on our website. Welcome to quincy wa.com in the note section daily. If you're interested in becoming a citizen in the United States and you haven't yet. Quincy Public Library is excited to announce that they're hosting a United States Citizenship Study Group.
This weekly citizenship class will help you prepare for the newest [00:04:00] version of the naturalization test. Get up to date information, review eligibility requirements, and study US history and civics, which can be quite difficult. All the materials and resources are provided. Classes are in English only.

And planning session. We'll be at the community center tonight at 5:30 PM last year. Hundreds of people from the 9, 8, 8, 4 8 area share what matters most of them.
And now it's time to turn those actions or those ideas into action. Tonight they'll be sharing a free meal and working together on healthy and youth families. Communicate community connection and belonging. Outdoor recreation, tourism, local [00:05:00] business and economy. It's a free community dinner activities for kids.
It's bilingual, and this is for everybody. It's families, youth, business owners, neighbors, people who care about the community's future and want to be involved. Like your calendar. More details. Reminder the I 90 Adams Road overpass east of Georgia is closed. Until further notice, DOT Crews responded last week. To a hole in the bridge deck and have closed the pass. So make sure that your travel plans do not include having to go across the I 90 Adams Road overpass. That's still an ongoing issue.[00:09:00]
