If it matters to our community, we're talking about it. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school, sports, and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church community, and local business news.

Rain likely this morning, cloudy with a high near 59. Breezy with east winds five to some miles [00:01:00] becoming southwest, 13 to 18 in the afternoon. Winds could gust as highest 26 later in the day. So please be careful if you're driving a larger vehicle. We all know how the wind can get around here tonight.

Chance of rain decreasing 20% as the day goes on, as the evening goes on. Before 11:00 PM mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear with a low around 36. So do watch out for some cold spots tonight with all a little bit of rain and air ready for this

If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today is National Agriculture Day, something we know well around here and it's really the heartbeat of our community, so Easter. Thank Farmer today and appreciate. Everything they do as far as making our world a better place because without agriculture, we don't exist.

If you need another reason, today is National Cheese steak day. Now, I'd love to hear in the comments today where is the best place to get a good cheese steak around here? Sandwiches in an art form and a good Philly cheese steak is really great. Finding a good one. That can be a stretch. The Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class from at 1:00 PM uh, also on Thursday. [00:03:00] They play Mexican train after six 30 at 6:30 PM after dinner. From 12 to 4:00 PM schools held early, they've got it covered. No big deal. in upcoming events. The Quincy Library is hosting game time tomorrow, March 25th. Gather your friends and family or make some new ones there in the afternoon of fun strategy and friendly competition. Challenge each other to card games, board games, noisy games, quiet games. There's something for everyone who will be the lucky winner.

Come play, connect, and enjoy. From 12 to 4:00 PM wall school's out Quincy Valley. Tourism is happy to announce the seventh, 19th. Annual Trout Fishing Derby on March 27th and 28th with prizes given for youth and adult visions. Registration available online [00:05:00] at Quincy Hardware and Lumber, or at the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.

Go get your fishing on Quincy Rec Department. Would like to announce several upcoming events for the little ones. There's a tiny hot soccer camp from Monday to Wednesday, March 30th through April 2nd. From three to 4:00 PM the cost is $15 per child. For youth ages 11 to 16. There's a Red Cross babysitting training course on March 30th, April 1st, third, and third from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily cost is $60 per young person.

There's also an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR training to obtain an adult impair pediatric certification. On Thursday, March 26th from five 30 to 8:30 PM learn lifesaving skills from trained instructors. This is a blended learning course. Parti participants will need to [00:06:00] compete online work for the in-person class on the 26th.

All in-class material will be provided. Space is limited to 10 participants. Registration closes March 24th. Stay tuned for information on all the Easter weekend festivities coming soon. Uh, we will try and consolidate that list for you guys over on the website because there's a lot going on for Easter in our community.

We wanna make sure that you know everything happening and all the things going on so you can be informed to make the choices you want to. So look for that soon on the website. Here's your reminder that this week is spring school conferences. The students will be in half days from today through Friday.

Please be aware of the increased presence of young people out and about during the afternoons, and there will be differences in the bus schedules. So if you're out and about, you're gonna see a lot more bus traffic around lunchtime than [00:07:00] you normally do. So please take that into consideration when you're getting your lunch or whatever you're doing in the mid-afternoon.

Before we jump into upcoming Quincy Jack's life, we're gonna cover city admin news and announcements, and then we'll jump into Quincy Jacks sports and events. Grant County PUD is meeting today at 1:00 PM and afraid to vote on resolution 9 1 1 7 authorizing the acquisition by condemnation of easements on certain real properties.

This is an important issue of affecting Quincy and George families. Grant PUD is now preparing to condemn another round of private land for construction of high voltage transmission lines. Residents impacted by these transmission lines are asking the existing public land be used instead of condemning private property for the infrastructure.

Other routes have been suggested as possibly a better path for the by the independent research community that they have put together for the PUT, but they're going this direction instead. As follows, early, earlier condemnations, they have already [00:08:00] impacted multiple local families in our area. The story first shared back in January.

This is the last chance to make your voice heard on the issue. The city of Quincy has announced that summer hours for the compost facility will begin on March 31st. They'll be open on Tuesdays to Saturdays from 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM and closed from 1115 to 1215 for lunch. Yard waste pickup will begin on April 6th and will be picked up on every Monday.

Call the city to have your yard waste container delivered if you do not already have one. In school News March 24th, the Scholastic Book Fair at Mount Vernon Elementary Schools starts. A portion of the proceeds help to support our library. They're happening March 24th through the 26th, and it's open from 1215 to three 15 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, also open from five to seven 30 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This is a great [00:09:00] chance to pick up some kid books. If you're looking for some, I love Scholastic book fairs, Quincy School District Board meeting tonight at 5:30 PM at the Quincy School District office. Come and get up close and personal with what's going on in our schools. Washington Fed needs your help.

The Jacks tennis team is playing in full force here at Home Against Sila Game start at 4:00 PM with the Jacks lady, jacks JV, and varsity teams all playing today. Matches began at 4:00 PM at the Quincy High School. Jacks courts, Jack's junior varsity, and varsity baseball teams both play at Ellensburg today.
