This is your daily local update for Quincy George Winchester Crescent Park Sunland Estate, and all of the 9 8 8 4 8. If it matters to our community, we're talking about it.
In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather. What's happening around town, school, sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church community and local business news. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with today's news forecast. It's currently 42 here at the studio, but a nasty windshield this morning has a feeling a lot more like 32 than 42. [00:01:00] It's a 20% chance of rain after 11 this morning. Otherwise, mostly sunny with a high near 54 west winds six to 11 miles an hour, increasingly at 12 to 17 miles per hour This afternoon, with gusts as high as 26.

if you're looking for a reason to celebrate today is International Waffle Day, which is always a good day. I'm thinking of some nice thick Belgian waffles. That sounds like a great breakfast today. Today around town, the Quincy Senior Center has bridge at 12:30 PM for crafters. There's a chat and Stitch today at 1:00 PM and the lunch menu is posted to the notes section of the welcome to Quincy wall.com website. As usual today, a Memorial Cafe Open house is being held, hosted by the Cambridge Assisted Living cottages.
From three to 4:30 PM Memorial Cafe is the place for caregivers, families, and loved ones enjoy time together in a relaxed, friendly, social hour filled with uplifting musical moments, memory games, crafts. A conversation starters [00:03:00] that will bring back cherish memories and enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and fresh break baked treats.

At the George Community Hall for $10 a lesson. America's getting ready to celebrate. Its 250th birthday this year, and flag's been going up around town as once he gets ready to celebrate the historical milestone together. They can only go up on the metal poles through the safety issues, but our talent is gearing up to celebrate Veterans' Operations Creations announce that their team has upgraded the luminaries used for patriotic holidays to honor armed forces from the original paper version to a new Platy version.
They welcome the public to pick up the original paper luminaries and make new or make new ones. [00:04:00] Just stop by Win Mere Realty here in Quincy today. In upcoming events, Quincy rec department is excited to announce the first ever battle at the net adult four versus four coed volleyball tournament. Put your team of five [00:05:00] together, register and get ready for a fun day of games. Only 12 team positions. Total deadline registers March 28th, and that is coming up fast with a tournament happening on Saturday the 11th at 9:00 AM or some early Easter Spring 15.
Family fun on Saturday, March 28th, starting at 9:00 AM Murphy Peace's Coffee Corner is hosting a spring market and Easter celebration. They're bringing Spring to the country and you're all invited. This event will feature local vendors, pop-up shops, kid train rides, and Easter egg hunt. Complete with Easter Bunny.
Bring the whole family. Shop small support local, and celebrate the season with us. Come hungry, bring your friends and let's make it beautiful day at Murphy's Corner. in church events. Faith Community Church has youth group at 6:30 PM tonight that's [00:06:00] open to all sixth through 12th graders, junior high and high schoolers together to spend some time together with friends, eat together, hear the word, and play some awesome games. St. Paul Lutheran Church offers an afterschool program every Wednesday on school, days after school until 5:30 PM You can find the registration form on visit on Facebook, or visit them at their office.
Their youth group is also always welcoming young persons from sixth grade, 12th grade, starting dinner at 5:30 PM followed by youth Activities of Bible till 7 45 for the younger grades. First, the First Baptist Church hosts Awana for the grades kindergarten through six at 6:00 PM It's Bible cub similar to Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, with a goal of obtaining more in-depth knowledge of the Bible.
This is your reminder that this week is in fact, spring conferences and students will be in half days all week this week. Please be aware of the increased presence of young people out and about during [00:07:00] the afternoons. Before we jump into upcoming Quincy Jacks life, we're gonna cover city admin news announcements, and then we'll jump into Quincy Jacks sports and events.
The Port of Quincy Commissions meeting and hearings are on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at the Port of Quincy facilities across Mackins. The meeting today is at 4:00 PM in school news. During this conference week, be sure and check out your child's elementary school library, participate in their schoolastic, schoolastic, Scholastic.
I can't speak today. Book fair. Each school's library is getting a portion of the proceeds from the book fair. So support your school. Pick up some great new books for your kids, and have a good time. Washington Federal needs your help. Help us in nominating one lucky teacher. Anyone can participate. It's fun.
