Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Thursday, April 2 2026

Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, and this spring break is flying by. This is your daily local update for Quincy George Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland states, and all of the 9 8 8 4 8. If it matters to our community, we're talking about it. In the next few minutes, we're gonna cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school, sports and activities, schools, city council, police, fire, church community, and local business news.

Whether you're heading to work or figuring out, Hey, what's going on with the kids today since they're not in school? Or maybe you're just easing your day. We are here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee. Get ready for your day. Let's start with today's weather forecast.

Currently 37 here at the studio, little colder out towards George or down by the river. A 30% chance of rain this morning, mainly before 11:00 [00:01:00] AM Then cloudy through mid-morning and gradually clearing a little bit. With high near 55 today, breezy with a west wind of nine to 18 miles per hour with gusts as high as 28 tonight, mostly clear with low around 33 northwest winds, 12 to 17 miles an hour decreasing to six to 11 after midnight.

With Wing Gu as high as 26 miles per hour ready for this?

In our Jack Sports recap, our jacks, JV and varsity baseball teams lost yesterday against Ellensburg. You'll get 'em next time. Jacks. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today is National Burrito Day. And hey, if you're digging a burrito today, you live in an amazing area because some of our restaurants around town have some of the very best burritos I've ever eaten in my life.

Uh, you have an array of incredible places to get incredible burritos in this town. Uh, it's one of the things I [00:02:00] love about living here, like go pick up a burrito tape, man. It's, I'm, I'm getting hungry just talking about it. Um, and other reasons to celebrate it's National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, which my kids will celebrate.

And let's face it, unless you have a peanut allergy, you were raised on peanut butter and jelly. I am 46 years old and I still regularly eat peanut butter and jelly. I'm sure it's probably not good for me, but I love it. I've eaten it since I was a kid and I don't expect I'm ever gonna stop. So it's a good day if you're a peanut butter and jelly person.

And last but not least, it's national ferret day. And if you've never played with a ferret, you've missed out. They are the cutest little things. I had a ferret for years. It was one of my favorite pets I ever had, and he was my best friend that hanging around around my room all the time. I loved my ferret.

They're just a lot of fun and honest to goodness, they're one of those animals that you just can't help but smile when you play with. Because they're [00:03:00] kind of adorable. So national ferret day, it's a good day. Grab a burrito, go play with a ferret. Although I'm not sure the pet shops will let you do that anymore and have a pretty awesome day today around town.

The Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class at 1:00 PM Peanut Ncle at 3:00 PM and they also play Mexican train at six 30 After dinner, I swear I will walk up the street and go get a copy of their menu for this month, since I didn't get that out yesterday. I apologize for that. The Department of Licensing to Go is cut mean to Quincy.

Today the department of Licensing to Go mobile unit will be at the Quincy Public Library today from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM walk-in appointments will close at 4:30 PM The services available will be to renew your driver's license. Apply for an enhanced license. They only take debit or credit cards. No cap will be accepted.

It's great and this is a great opportunity. Be sure and reserve your slot. I know this filled up really fast the last time they were in town, so call that number (509) 787-2359 in reserve US Lodge.

Also today at the library, the caravan Mobile Healthcare is coming to Quincy, also happening at the library Today. The Caravan Mobile Healthcare Unit is gonna be there from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. And help them connect with services that may benefit them or their families come by, learn something new, or take a step towards a healthier community. Everyone is welcome. Let everybody know, uh, word of mouth tends to work faster in this community. So be sure to let somebody know who would benefit from this today that they're gonna be here in town today.

The Quincy Rotary Club will be meeting at 1210 just outside of the Jacks restaurant at the Quincy Market. The Quincy Rec Department wants you to know that if you're looking for something fun to do, the kid with the kids this spring, it's not too late. Join them for their spring puzzle hustle. Pass to the Quincy Aquatics Center. Big thank you to Abbott Construction for generously donating this prize and supporting our recreational programs and aquatics center this year, because we always need to start the day with a smile. Here's your bad joke. If you don't like this one, it's my fault. I overruled my wife on this one, so you know it's gotta be pretty bad.

Did you hear about the circus fire?

The city of Quincy would like to remind the community that a portion of Jack Rabbit Street Northeast will be closed to traffic due to [00:11:00] construction work being performed by the contractor of Jack Rabbit Estates.

Phase two, they'll be installing the sewer main along that portion of the road starting from. Just east of eighth Avenue, Northeast ending, just west of ninth work is estimated to be completed by April 10th, but for now, there is a portion of Jack Rabbit way that is blocked off. Please plan appropriately and if you're detouring through the community right there, uh, slow down a little bit.

Know there's a lot of kids playing on the roads over there, and just be aware that that is a possible change to your route that you might need to adjust for.
