And welcome to this Good Friday edition of Good Morning Quincy Wa Newscast. This your daily local update for Quincy George Winchester Crescent Bar Sunland Estates, and all of the 9 8 8 4 8. If it matters to our community, we're talking about it.
In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school, sports and activities, schools, city council, police, fire, church community, and local business news. Whether you're heading to work. Or just having one last hurrah with the kids before spring break's over. Maybe you're just ease into your day.

Let's start with [00:01:00] today's forecast. Currently 37 here at the studio, a little colder out towards George, down by the river. Mostly sunny today with a high near 59 light and variable winds coming from the south.
Five to seven miles an hour in the afternoon Tonight, mostly clear with a low around 36 south wind around six miles an hour becoming north midnight. It looks like we're moving into a warmer weekend. Gonna be a beautiful weekend here in the area. Should be really good for the various Easter activities going on this weekend with mostly sunny skies in the mid sixties on Saturday, possibly close to 70 or up to 70 on Sunday.

in New Jack Sports Recap. Our Jackson Lady Jacks, JP and varsity teams lost [00:02:00] yesterday against East Valley. Our Jacks varsity baseball team won 29 0 against Cascade High School yesterday. Go Jacks. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, other than it's Friday and it's Easter weekend. Today is National Final Rainbow Day.
It's National Chocolate Boost Day and American Circus Day. I miss the circus. Did anybody else grow up going to the circus when they were a kid? Like they mostly died out? I think, uh, around the nation. The change in animal laws, and that's probably a good thing as far as the change of animal laws. But I want to hear in the comments today, did you grow up going to the circus?
I remember going to the barn and Bailey Circus over in the OME when I was a kid. It was amazing. And we just don't have big circuses like that traveling around very often anymore. So. Sound off in the comment section. Did [00:03:00] you grow up going to the circus? And while we're pouting about that, 'cause I certainly miss the circus.
Grab yourself some chocolate mousse and uh, soothe the soul that way today around town. We got family movie day over at the library. Join us at 1:00 PM for a family friendly movie. They're playing Zootopia two. Snacks are welcome. Bring your favorite priests to enjoy during that movie. Just remember to tidy up the space before you leave so that everybody can enjoy a clean space tonight and every Friday night, the Quincy Recreation Department is hosting a teen night from seven to 10:00 PM over the rec department.
It's free to all teens, 13 to 19 years old, and I've been over there. They have a lot of great things. They got board games, they got video games, they got hangout space. It's a good place if you're looking to get outta your house. Teenagers. There's a place for you to go. The Quincy Recreation Department is also presenting free adult volleyball open gym.
18 year olds are older on Friday nights from five 30 to seven 30 [00:04:00] at the middle school gym. Grab some friends, get off the couch, go play volleyball. You don't even have to be good at it. Just go have some fun, meet some new people. Hang out. Get active and enjoy your Friday night. The George Community Center has the first Friday night jam.
Tonight from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Anyone with an instrument can come play. Anyone with ears can come. Listen, it makes it fun for the whole group. Learn to play your instrument with a group better if you haven't had that opportunity, or just do it because you love to do it, or you can come and just enjoy what's going on.
If you're looking for something fun to do with a group of friends, the historic society is happy to announce that they're still running their Escape Room event. There have been a lot of cool pictures over on their Facebook page. The title is Escape Room 1776, and it's located at the Quincy Valley Historical Society Museum.
Reserve your time now. Maximum group size is five people, ages eight or older, and it costs $35 per group. Details on the registration [00:05:00] can be found on the Quincy Valley Historical Society Facebook page. The Quincy Recreation Department wants to remind you today is the last day to join them for their spring puzzle hustle.
Pick up puzzles from the activities scenario anytime today, before 2:30 PM And just submit a photo of your family with a completed puzzle by Sunday, April 5th at 11:59 PM Gotta be in. It cost us $20 to play for in city residents. 24 for out of city residents. Family Puzzle. Race is a great way to spend time together.

in upcoming event. There's. Several things going on this weekend. Uh, there are lots of Easter egg hunts here in Quincy and over at East Park there's the Quincy Moose Lodge annual Easter egg hunt. [00:07:00] The Cambridge second annual Easter egg hunt is going on with barbecue tower pizza and crescent bars having their fourth annual Easter egg hunt.
And George has their annual Easter egg hunt as well. There's a lot going on, and I'm not gonna read everything here because we put a full list of Easter activities over at Welcome to quincy wa.com is pinned to the top of the page for a full list of those Easter activities and to know what all is happening, not only Saturday but Sunday as well.

Today, many churches are celebrating Good Friday, and you'll find special Easter or Good Friday services around town with different denominations. Easter Sunday, uh, there's a lot going around. There are sunrise services, there are special services.
Some congregations are having multiple services. There's a lot at our many Fine Houses of Worship here at Quincy. [00:08:00] Connect with your local church and for worship for fellowship. Once again, I already compiled that list. I'm not gonna read the whole thing this morning, but just know there is a ton going on this Easter weekend in our town, and there is a full list of activities as well as we know it, as well as we can find it on. Welcome to quincy wild.com. A reminder, Washington Department of Transportation has construction going on and blew it.
Pass. Uh, through early June, they're working on repairing guardrails, repairing updating. There's gonna be rumble strips, there's gonna be pilot cars on US 97 from milepost 1 54 to 1 55 near the junction of Highway S nine 70. If you're heading over the pass, give yourself some extra time. Uh, I know that's a common cutoff for a lot of us in the area, so please be aware of extra travel times.[00:09:00]
And be safe if you're heading that way. Now, before we jump into Quincy Jack's life, we're gonna cover city admin news and announcements. Then we'll jump into Jack Sports and events. The city of Quincy would like to remind you that a portion of Jackrabbit Street Northeast will be closed to traffic due to construction work, and that will be going on as estimated to be completed by April 10th.
But it's happening right now. It's just a small section of Jack Rabbit Street from around eighth to ninth. Please be aware of that reroute if you need to. Uh, and if you gotta reroute through the neighborhoods, please respect the speed limits and keep everybody safe. There's a lot of kids running through there.
The Quincy Recreation Department is now accepting applications for lifeguards and swim instructors for the new aquatics center. Training is available and you have to be at least 15 years old or older to apply. It's an incredible opportunity to have a great summer job that teaches you. Safety leadership and being someone [00:10:00] that people can count on.
Apply today and be part of something exciting from day one. For the Quincy Aquatic Center right now, those are available.
We haven't talked about it in a long time. But guys, the new aquatic center is gonna be amazing. And as the weather gets warmer and it gets closer to completion, trust me, it's the place you're gonna want to be this summer. Uh, it's gonna be spectacular. So remember, you can actually go buy your. Passes for the aquatic center.
Right now. You just need to contact the rec department in school news. It is, uh, Friday, the last day of spring break. So there hasn't been a whole lot of school news. And is it just me or is Spring Break completely just flown by this year? Uh, I hope all of our young [00:11:00] people have had an amazing spring break and I hope if your kid has been home from school, you've had a chance to enjoy that with them.
So there isn't much in the way of school news other than all of our Quincy Elementary school parent volunteer committees have teamed up to sell Seattle sounder tickets, and it's super easy sport. Every ticket sold helps all the schools. All the proceeds are split between the PBC groups to benefit Quincy Elementary Schools as a whole.
They have tickets for multiple games. It's not just one game. They have a whole range of games. They've got tickets for. For more information, reach out to one of your Quincy Elementary School's PBC contacts and get your tickets now. Be sure and mark your calendars for the 2026 Quincy FFA plant sale. It's not happening until April 30th, but it will go fast.

In Jack Sports and Events today, our Lady Jacks varsity golf team teased off at Sila at 10:00 AM Our Lady Jacks JB and varsity softball teams play against Ellensburg at Jack Rabbit Field at four and 5:30 PM so go support the. Jackrabbits softball teams Tomorrow, our Jack's, JV and varsity soccer teams will play in Ellensburg at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM Go Jack.
