in your Jack Sports recap? Our Lady Jack, seventh grade softball team forfeited against the Frontier Middle School yesterday, and so did our Lady Jack's eighth grade softball team. Our Jack seventh grade soccer team won six zero against Endeavor Middle School. Go Jack.
If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today is Clean Comedy Day, national Blueberry Pie Day and National School Bus Drivers Appreciation Day. So say thank you to your bus driver. Tell them a funny joke that's appropriate. And maybe grab yourself a slice of pie today, [00:02:00] although it's a little season's not right for blueberries, I don't think, but you know, still sounds good today around town.
The Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class today at 1:00 PM and they play Mexican train at 6:30 PM after dinner. The Quincy Community Food Bank is open Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from four 30 to 6:00 PM and on Fridays from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM The Food Bank is located at two ten First Avenue Southeast in Quincy and can be reached at 5 0 9 7 8 7 4 9 6 3 or Quincy foodbank@gmail.com. The food bank also welcomes volunteers, so feel free to reach out to those.
Over the food bank to see how you can be of service. The Quincy Recreation Department is continuing a spring [00:03:00] mEq Hunt sponsored by Abbott Construction. Although it is wrapping up as, Hey, April is almost over. Can you believe that there are two digital hunts per week during the month of April, and it ends on the 30th.

The She Strong Studio has Zuma classes on Tuesday at 6:00 PM for his members. Monkeying around. Pizza is officially back open. Lunch starts at 11 and they can really use some love.

Let people know they're back up and going. Monkey around pizza, has your next meal made fresh? Now, if you're like me, Tuesday seems to hit harder than Monday.
Like everybody complains about Mondays, but Tuesday seems to hit me harder than Mondays do. So here's your daily bad joke too. Put your smile on your face. And I've been told by my wife [00:04:00] that I'm saying that wrong and she would daily dad joke, but they're kind of synonymous and I think they work either way.
But here's a reason to smile this morning. What should you do? If you meet a giant? You use big words
in upcoming events. If you're looking for a summer gig, the Geor, Georgia. Amphitheater is hiring for their 2026 season. Security positions are open, event staff is open. You have to be 18 or older to do either of those. Campground ticket takers are open. You can do that at 16. Head over to the job fair on May 1st from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM to learn more.
Tower Pizza and Cresta Bar will have be hosting a comedy show on Saturday, May 9th at 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 9th. The Quincy Public Market presents a pop-up market and car show from 10 to three. There will be food and vendors along with some gorgeous vintage automobiles, some admire. There [00:05:00] may be some vendor spots still available.
If you're interested, call Sierra at (509) 794-3445. Don't forget that the paving project on I 90 from Vantage to George's underway and contractors will be working primarily at night from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM bringing it down to a single lane each direction. Monday through Friday. This will slow down traffic significantly if you're heading that way.
So please get allow yourself a little bit extra time and don't rush through. Remember, traffic finds double in work zones and we really wanna make sure all those guys go safely home to their families every day. Before we jump into Jack Sports and events, we're gonna cover city admin news, school news and announcements, and then we'll jump into Jack Sports and events happening today and tomorrow.
Early bird season passes for the Quincy's New Aquatic Center are still available at a 15% discount through April 30th. [00:06:00] This is the last week. To get a discount, come enjoy the brand new facility when it gets open this summer. Buy your pass, scan your card, and come in and swim. Grand County Fire District three is seeking dedicated people who wanna make a difference in their community.
With your commitment, you can be one of the select few who answer the call when someone's having an emergency. In addition to assisting your neighbors, she'll be helping to keep families safe, and you'll develop job skills that can be valuable to you in the workforce. There's seven applications for volunteer firefighters, resident firefighters, and support service applicants.

In school news tonight, there's a game night scheduled at the Quincy Middle School from five to 7:30 PM for parents tomorrow night from six to 7:30 PM at the Quincy Middle School. The Quincy School District will be presenting an event, toddler raising safe digital kids [00:07:00] parenting strategies for online safety.
Kids are growing up in a digital world that's changing quickly. Many parents aren't sure what kids are even seeing and dealing with online and how to much less how to keep them safe. This event is for parents of any age who are invited to learn how to protect your child. Ask questions, and be part of the conversation with local experts.

Also for parents. Get ready for the ready for kinder event hosted by Pioneer Elementary. Ready for kindergarten provides brief age-based parenting workshop with take home materials and simple activities to help build children's early learning skills. 2026 workshop dates are Tuesday, May 15th and Thursday, [00:08:00] May 14th in English, and Tuesday May 19th.
All classes are from five to 6:30 PM in the library at Pioneer Elementary School. Children must be three to four years old for parents to register for the workshop to register. Call or text the parent engagement coordinator Jessica Alcaraz at 5 0 9 9 0 6 6 6 1 5 later this week. The 2026 Quincy FFA plant cells happening on Thursday, April 30th, and Friday May 1st from three 15 to 5:00 PM and on Saturday May 2nd from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Our Jacks JB and varsity baseball team go to Alfreda High School and play at four 30 for home games.
