in your Jack Sports Recap for middle school sports. The Lady Jack seventh grade softball team won against Columbia Middle School from Most Lake and the Lady Jack's eighth grade softball team lost against Columbia Middle School. Our Jack's seventh grade soccer team lost against Pioneer Middle School.

And Art Jack's eighth grade team won against Pioneer Middle School. Go Jack.

If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today, celebrates international jazz day. It's also honesty day, military brat day and hairstyle, appreciation day. I have no idea who comes up with these things, but I guess that means you go forth and honestly appreciate a military brats, hairstyle while listening to some rock and jazz.

Maybe, I dunno. We'll give it a try. [00:02:00] Today around town, the Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class at 1:00 PM. Pete Knuckle at 3:00 PM and they also play Mexican train at 6:30 PM after dinner. And as always, the menu is over on. Welcome to quincy wa.com. In the notes section. The Quincy Rotary Club will be meeting at 1210 today, just outside the Jacks restaurant at the Quincy Market.

For those of you who plant affection autos, who can't resist a plant sale, there are two this week. Can you believe it? I mean, you are set up for spring. You can visit the Grant Adams Master Gardener Plant Sale today from one to 4:00 PM at the Quincy Middle School today, only the 2026 Quincy FFA Plant Cell also starts today and is open on Friday, May 1st from three 15 to 5:00 PM as well.

And on Saturday May 2nd from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM cash checks only. They hope to see there. They've got a lot of beautiful plants they've been working [00:03:00] on and cultivating. There was a video on Facebook yesterday that I came across, and I don't buy plants because I kill every plant I touch, but for all of you who actually enjoy plants and are good at keeping them alive, this is gonna be great.

Start for your spring garden. Now is the time to go check it out.

It's Thursday. We're almost there, but. We all need that smile in the morning. So here's your daily dad. Bad joke. Why are elevator jokes so classic and good? They work on many levels.

In upcoming events, the Quincy Police Department and the Grant County Fire District three invite you and your family to join them for their second annual Quincy Police versus Fire Charity Softball game. That's right. They're back at again this year. This fun, family friendly event is a great opportunity to [00:04:00] meet your local first responders while supporting meaningful causes.

Mission is free. They're just asking for donations to benefit a local charity. This year they'll be donating all the funds raised to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation. Their focus is providing support, services, encouragement, and information to patients and families currently battling cancer. In the grant in Adams counties area, donations can be made at the event cash is accepted or via the grant county only fire department district three's volunteer group's Venmo account.

This happens this Monday, May 4th at 5:30 PM for opening serve monies with the first pitch happening at 6:00 PM at the Quincy Middle School baseball field behind the school. Once again, this event is free with the opportunity to donate to a local charity. So bring your lawn chairs. Get ready for a great time.

If you're looking for a summer gig, the gorgeous hiring for the 2026 season, they [00:05:00] have security and event staff positions for 18 or older, they have campground ticket tater takers for 16 or older. Head over to their job fair on May 1st. That's tomorrow from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM to learn more.

I can't believe tomorrow's actually May 1st. Tower Pizza and Crescent Bar will be hosting a comedy show on Saturday, May 9th at 7:00 PM Also on Saturday May 9th, the Quincy Public Market presents a pop-up market and car show from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM there will be food and vendors along with some gorgeous vintage automobiles to Meyer.

There may even be some vendor spots still available. Call now if you're interested. And talk to Sierra at 5 0 9 7 9 4 3 4 4 5 and let's get all those finished spots filled. It will be a great event. Before we jump into upcoming Jack Sports and events, we're gonna cover city admin, news, school news and announcements, and then we'll cover Quincy [00:06:00] Jack sports and events happening today and tomorrow in city offices.

Today is the last day by your Early Bird season pass for the Quincy's New Aquatic Center. They're available at 15% off through April 30th. Yeah, that's today. So come enjoy the brand new facility. When it gets open this summer. Buy your pass, gain your member card, come in and swim. You can buy them online or you can call the rec apartment.

Everybody's gonna be a pool this summer. It's gonna be an extraordinary new place to be, and there's so much to do at the new aquatic center. The Quincy Recreation Department is also accepting applications for lifeguard and swim instructors for the new aquatics center. Training is available and applicants must be at least 15 year olds to apply.

If you're ready to take on a role that's equal parts, fun and responsibility, lifeguarding might be for you. Apply today and be party. Something exciting from day one. If you're looking for a furry friend, stop by the animal shelter and you may just find the perfect companion. Our family dog came from there and it's been an amazing part of our family ever since. We absolutely love her and they have a lot of great dogs over there, and I believe they have cats as well.

They also ask that you check out their Facebook and help get some of the lost animals that have been found in the area back to their families as well, who are missing them. In school news, there's a parent volunteer meeting at Pioneer Elementary tonight for the PVC at 6:00 PM for parents Get Ready for Kinder Event is hosted by Pioneer Elementary.

Ready for kindergarten provides brief age-based parent workshops with take home material and simple activities to help children early build, early learning skills at home. The 2026 workshop dates in English are Tuesday, May 5th. Thursday, [00:08:00] May 14th, and Tuesday, May 19th. All classes are from five to 6:30 PM at the library at Pioneer Elementary.

Children must be three to four years old for parents to register for the workshop to register, or call or text the parent engagement coordinator. Jessica Alcaraz at 5 0 9 9 0 6 6 6 1 5.

Also this weekend plan on attending the back, the Jacks auction and dinner on Friday, May 1st at 5:00 PM at the Quincy Business and Event Center. It's sponsored by the Quincy Booster Club, and this event will include delicious food, exciting auctions, silent and live both and so much more. All for the fantastic cause of supporting our local athletic activities.

Proceeds will directly support Quincy Booster Club athletics and activities. Ensure our students have the resources they need to thrive in their sports. Y'all ready for this[00:09:00] 

this week in Jack Sports and Events today? Our middle school co-ed seventh and eighth grade track team compete in Ashtin against Icicle River Middle School, Shula Middle School, and Pioneer Middle School. For high school today, our Jacks and Lady Jacks track and field team compete in Quincy against Grandview and Sila at three 30.

Our Jacks JV baseball team also played at home at three and five against Grandview High School. Our lady Jacks softball team competes in Quincy against OAC High School at 3:30 AM 5:00 PM. And our Jackson Lady Jacks tennis team play in Quincy starting at 4:00 PM against top finished high school to round out our home games for tomorrow.

Our Jacks freshman soccer team plays against Moses Lake at 6:00 PM in away games. Our Lady Jacks varsity softball team plays at Grammy High School at three and five and tomorrow our middle and high school have no games [00:10:00] scheduled at all.

It is gonna be a busy day at the Quincy High School Athletics Comple Complex. So go support our local teams. Cheer 'em on. It's gonna be a good afternoon. Go Jack.
