Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Tuesday, May 12 2026

Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, and this is a Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 98848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news.

Whether you're heading to work, getting the kids out the door, or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for the day, and let's start with today's forecast. Currently 50 here at the studio. Today, mostly sunny with a high near 87.

Gonna be pretty warm. North winds six to nine miles per hour becoming east in [00:01:00] the afternoon. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 57. Breezy with a northwest wind seven to 12 miles an hour, increasing to 16 to 19 after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 miles per hour, entering into a weather advisory tomorrow morning.

This is some pre-warning for you. Tomorrow morning, by the time this show comes out, we will be in a full-blown weather advisory expecting rain at 60% chance and heavy, heavy winds. So you might prepare for that today. Make sure nothing light is outside overnight for the wind gusts to pick up. They're expecting wind gusts tomorrow morning starting around 5:00 AM of up to 45 miles per hour.

That is enough to pick up some things and toss them around your yard, uh, make it hard for you to find in the morning, and so on and so forth. It's also gonna make school bus routes pretty interesting tomorrow morning. So go ahead and prep for that [00:02:00] tonight because, like I said, that will be out by the time this comes out tomorrow morning, and it's gonna be pretty windy, and you don't wanna be caught unawares once that hits tomorrow.

Y'all ready for this?

In your Jack Sports rec- cab, yesterday, middle school sports, our Lady Jacks eighth grade softball team went to bat and lost 6-9 Eastmont. Our eighth grade Jack soccer team played and tied at Sterling Junior High, and our Jack seventh grade soccer team also played and lost to Sterling Junior High. That's okay.

You'll get 'em next time, guys. Go, Jacks. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is International Nurses Day, which is a great day to celebrate all of our incredible nursing staff over at our hospital and the [00:03:00] Regional care facilities we have here in Quincy and the surrounding area. Let them know you're thinking about them and how much you appreciate them.

It's also National Nutty Fudge Day, so I don't know, maybe bring the nurses some nutty fudge. And it's National Limerick Day, go ahead, take a shot at that one. You can write them a great limerick. Uh, I will not be doing that because I'm not sure I could if I wanted to. But, you know, it's National Nutty Fudge Day, and that sounds pretty good right now.

Today around town, the Quincy Senior Center has exercise classes today at 1:00 PM, and then Mexican Train night at 6:30 after dinner. Here's the highlight. I wonder for our wonderful community resources, the Quincy Community Food Bank is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 12:00 and from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, and on Fridays from 9:30 to 12:00 as well.

The food bank is located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy. Can be reached at [00:04:00] 509-787-4963 or at quincyfoodbank@gmail.com. It's a great resource that we have here in the community. They do a lot to help out our community, uh, in those tough times. So thank you to the food bank, and if you're in need, there's nothing wrong with that.

So head over and make sure you're taking care of their great piece of our community. The food bank also welcomes volunteers, so feel free to reach out, see if you can be of service as well. The She's Strong Studio has Zumba classes tonight at 6:00 PM for its members. And then grab your friends and join us over at...

for a cozy, creative evening at an adults-only craft and sip t- tonight at 5:00 PM at the Jones Winery Tasting Room inside the Public Market. If you're ready for a fun night out, the special adults only event brings together the best of both worlds: spring-themed crafts taught by the talented Kim Bacon and led by your Quincy Public Library staff, [00:05:00] and delicious wine available for purchase from Jones Winery.

A relaxed social atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with friends, perfect for a date night, girls' night, or just a solo unwind. All crafts and supplies are provided. Just bring your creativity. There's no registration needed, but space and supplies are limited, so arriving early is a great idea. Huge thank you to Quincy Friends of the Library for supporting this community favorite.

Come sip, craft, bring a friend, or meet some new friends and make something beautiful to welcome spring. Now let's put a smile on that face 'cause Tuesday's a little harder for me, so I could use a smile, and I guess you could too, because everybody should start their day with a smile with your daily dad joke.

What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear.

In upcoming events, we have live music at Monkeying Around Pizza this Friday, May 15th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Windermere Real Estate is proud to [00:06:00] help sponsor an evening of live music with country music artist Owen Barnhart. Bring your family and friends, and enjoy a night with great music, great food, and great community.

Quincy United JS Football would like to invite you to their open tryouts for the 2026/2027 season. They'll have a person for registrations and someone to answer questions each day. Open tryouts are May 11th through the 19th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Loescher Park if you'd like to join the football club.

It's an incredible little club we have going on here.

On Saturday, May 16th, the Quincy Middle School, at the Quincy Middle School, come support De La Rosa Boxing Club by attending their fourth annual Marceliano De La Rosa Memorial Boxing Tournament.
