Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Friday, May 15 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Friday, May 15th, 2026, and this is your Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the area. If it matters in the 98848, you'll hear it here. Congratulations, it is Friday. You've almost made it through another week, and the weekend is just around the corner, so hang on in there just a little bit longer.
In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, schools, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news. Whether you're heading to work or getting the kids out the door or just easing into that day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community.
Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start [00:01:00] with today's weather forecast. Starting the weekend a little cooler. Currently 43 here at the studio. Today, partially sunny with a high near 61. West winds 11, 16 miles an hour with occasional gusts. Pretty standard here for the 98848. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 39, so a little bit chilly tonight, and that's pretty much the story of the weather this weekend.
Low to mid-60s during the day, nights around 40 degrees, and partially cloudy skies with plenty of sunshine throughout the weekend. In your Jack Sports recap, it was track meets yesterday. There are no updates in sports, so if you know somebody who participates in track and field, be sure and check in with them today and ask how they did at the meet last night.
If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is National Bring Someone Flowers Day. Yes, it's another holiday that they made up to bring people flowers, but hey, we have some great florists here in town, so [00:02:00] be sure and pick up some flowers. Do something for someone nice. It's also National Chocolate Chip Day and National Pizza Party Day, so how fun is that?
Like, there's, there's some good reasons to celebrate today. Who doesn't like chocolate chips in one form or another? And National Pizza Party Day, we know something about pizza here in the 98848. We've got pizza. We've got good pizza. So today, you're pretty well set. Grab someone some flowers. Eat a handful of chocolate chips for dessert after some pizza.
Or hey, maybe throw some chocolate chips on a pizza for dessert pizza. Who knows? It could be a fun day. Now, we've got a lot happening today and over this weekend, so it's a longer list today, so bear with me. There's a lot happening around the 98848. Today is Tip a Senior Day at R&R Cafe between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
You'll find seniors fundraising, and they appreciate any tip. Every tip goes to their [00:03:00] graduation party. It can be on credit card or cash. It's organized by the senior parent committee to give these kids a fun, safe celebration after graduation. Or you know what? Even if you don't wanna buy coffee, they have some great drinks that aren't coffee drinks, or you can just donate.
Tonight there's live music at Monkeying Around Pizza from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Windermere Real Estate is proud to help sponsor an evening of live music with country music artist Owen Barnhart. There'll also be someone to answer any questions you have about playing club football. Tonight at the Andaluz, Feronas of the North [00:04:00] USQ and DJ Andaluz are playing.
Doors open at 8:00 PM. It's 21 and over event. Kitchen's open all night. Taco, seafood, ceviche, tostadas, carne asada fries, scraps, and so much more. You got live music, dancing all night, and a great atmosphere. If you wanna dance the night away, head over to the Andaluz tonight and have a great, safe evening.
Now, that's just the start. We're gonna get to upcoming events for the weekend in just a moment. But it's Friday, and we still need to start the day with a smile, so for your daily dad joke, what do you call a dinosaur with an extensive vocabulary? A thesaurus.
