Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Friday, May 22 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Friday, May 22nd, 2026, and this is your Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 98848, you'll hear it here. Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Whether you're honoring a loved one this weekend or heading out of town for your first long summer weekend, be safe. People are getting out and going, and the road's gonna be a little busier. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news.
Whether you're heading to work, getting the kids out the door, or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with today's forecast. Currently [00:01:00] 51 here at the studio, slightly cooler in George, slightly warmer along the river communities.
Sunny with a high in the low 80s today. Calm winds becoming south around five to seven miles per hour in the afternoon. Tonight, partly cloudy with a low around 55 and calm winds. Going into your Memorial Day weekend, looks like a pretty basin weekend out here. Low 80s during the day with some wind Saturday.
Lows in the 50s at night. Slight chance of rain Monday in the morning with the high dropping to the mid-70s, but that will change by Sunday, so you can't count on that forecast. In your Jack Sports recap, no middle school or high school games played last night. They had a much-needed break as sports season is winding down and district games are going on.
If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, besides the fact that it's Friday and you finally made it through the weekend or to the weekend, today is National Road Trip Day, which is apropos for Memorial Day weekend. [00:02:00] Get out, explore our beautiful surrounding area. We have so many beautiful places around the 98848, all within dri- reasonable driving distance.
It's a great time to get out and explore Eastern Washington and enjoy the beauty we have surrounding us every day out here. It's also National Vanilla Pudding Day. I don't know. I like plain flavors. I like vanilla ice cream. I like vanilla pudding. I also like chocolate, but I like plain flavors, so National Vanilla Pudding Day is a pretty good day for me.
And if you're looking for something a little more fun, it's Sherlock Holmes Day. Whether you love the book by Sir Arthur Corner- Conan Doyle, or whether you like the Robert Downey Jr. movies, it's Sherlock Holmes Day. Break out the Sherlock Holmes, enjoy a good mystery, and have an amazing day. There's a lot happening in the 98848 today, so listen closely because there's sure to be several events you're gonna be interested in.
Here's [00:03:00] a highlight for our wonderful community resources. The Quincy Community Food Bank is open today from 9:30 to 12:00 PM, and it's located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy to help out our community. They can be reached at 509-787-4963 or at quincyfoodbank@gmail.com. The food bank is also welcoming volunteers, so feel free to reach out and see how you can be of service.

Come sip on your favorite Whip drink while you find some steals. Clothes, furniture, movies, and much more. They're also gonna have strawberry, strawberry Dubai cups for sale.
And to top it off, Churro Man 509 will be selling his hot, fresh made-to-order churros on-site. So head over to Whip this afternoon and have some fun. It's Friday night karaoke at the Riverside Store in Sunland Estates at 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Take your friends, enjoy a night out together, kick off a great Memorial Day weekend, [00:04:00] get your karaoke on, and have some fun.
If you're looking for a night full of music, atmosphere, and pure dancing, Los Bellman will be playing in Andaluz tonight. Free entry all night. DJ Andaluz will also be there. Kitchen's open all night long. Tacos, seafood, appetizers, and more. Best atmosphere to dance with your people. It's a 21 and over event from 8:00 PM to 1:45 in the morning over at 915 Central Avenue South, Quincy.
Although, if you live in this area, you probably know where Andaluz is. Or you know what? If you're just looking for a place to grab a great bite around town and skip cooking and cleanup, 'cause, you know, after a long week, sometimes it's just nice to go out on a Friday night, right? We have a lot of fine dining in our community.
Like, my wife and I just had an amazing date night over at Monkeying Around Pizza, had some incredible French dips with the friendliest staff. It was great to just to unplug and have a night out together in their family-friendly atmosphere. We're blessed in our community to have a lot of other amazing [00:05:00] restaurants as well that are deeply involved in our community, like Rich Tacos, or Idle Hour, or Andaluz, or Brunch Box.
There's so many, many more. Sushi Aki is reopening for the season today over between Farmers Insurance and Kwan Family Dentistry. They're bringing back their signature teriyaki, along with some fresh premium sushi rolls that they've been working on during the off-season. Remember, you don't have to go a long ways away to have a weekend.
Support local and enjoy your weekend. To put a smile on your face as you head into your last day of work, hopefully for the weekend, I know a lot of us are working on Saturday too, but put a smile on your face as you go into your Friday. Here's your daily dad joke. What do you call it when James Bond takes a bath?
