And this is the Good Morning Quincy Washington Newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all the surrounding area. If it matters in the 9848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news.

Grab your coffee, get ready for the day, and let's start with today's forecast. Currently 51 here in the studio. Cooler today with a 20% chance of showers this morning before 11:00 AM.[00:01:00]
Mostly cloudy with a high near 70. Northwest winds six to eight miles per hour. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 52 and the same kind of breeze. No sports for you this morning. The Jacks had a day off for Memorial Day. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is National Blueberry Cheesecake Day and National Paper Airplane Day.
So while I hate to, you know, incite problems in a classroom, maybe if you're a teacher, add in a bonus lesson today and show kids how to make the very best paper airplanes. I don't know what it is, but I see less paper airplanes today than I used to. I'm not sure what the cause of that is, but you know, it's, it's early engineering.
Brush it off as that. It's early engineering if you do it right. Today around town, Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class at 1:00 PM, and play Mexican Train at 6:30 PM after dinner. Today, the community-- Quincy Community Food Bank is open from 9:30 to 12:00 PM and from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, and it's also open again on Friday. The food bank's located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy. Can be reached at 509-787-4963, or at quincyfoodbank@gmail.com. The food bank also welcomes volunteers, so feel free to reach out to help with this amazing service we have in our community.
It's a great resource to help families out in the hard times. She Strong Studio has Zumba classes on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM for his members. And tonight, Monkey Around Pizza is hosting Music Bingo night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Bring your friends for a great time. All you need to bring is your phone. It's Tuesday.
I don't know what it is about Tuesday, but it's a harder day for [00:03:00] me when I wake up to do the show. So I always need a smile on Tuesday mornings, and I'm guessing you do, too. So here is your daily dad joke to sm- put a smile on your face. What do you call a fish wearing a bow tie?

In upcoming events, the summer library reading program starts soon. Summer's almost here, it's just around the corner, and they're gearing up for a full season of summer reading, creativity, and fun at the Quincy Public Library. Kickoff day is Friday, June 5th. Stop by the library to sign up or join any time afterwards, and jump into summer packed with activities, challenges, and prizes.
It makes for a pretty great summer. It's also dance recital season. Expressions Dance Studio would like to invite you to their Dancing with the Stars spring dance recital on Saturday, [00:04:00] May 30th at 5:00 PM, and again on Sunday, May 31st at 3:00 PM at the Quincy High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15.
Come watch these amazing dancers show off all the hard work they've been putting in. Tickets can be purchased at Quincy Heating and Air from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesdays through Fridays. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door. Royalty Dance Studio would also like to invite you to their spring dance recital titled The Sugar Kingdom: A Dance Story.
Tickets are on sale now online or in the studio and are $15 each at the-- It will be at the Quincy High School Performing Arts Center on June 13th at 3:00 PM with another showing, showing at 6:00 PM. In community highlights, you know you can get your passport photos taken right here in Quincy. Stop in at Secure Pack and Ship over on Central, next to Windemere Real Estate.
It's local, it's fast, it's accurate. No appointments are needed. Just stop in and a few minutes later, you'll be closer to getting your passport in [00:05:00] hand. Before we jump into upcoming Jack sports and events, we're gonna cover city admin news, school news and announcements, and then cover Quincy Jack sports and events happening today and tomorrow.
In city offices, the Quincy Valley Regional Parks District Board will hold a special meeting to discuss the Qplex design and parks district update at City Hall at 4:00 PM. This is a Special meeting. It is out of its normal schedule, which means there's a pretty big update about the Qplex. So if you're interested in what's going on with the Qplex, this is a great chance to come and hear firsthand about what's going on with it.
In school news, there's a school board meeting tonight at 5:30 at the school district office. Also, the Quincy Middle School is holding their final music concert of the year at 7 PM on Wednesday night. But that's it. There's no sports tonight for the Jacks. Uh, we're heading towards that end-of-the-year season.
[00:06:00] Most kids have either competed in their last competition for this year or are wrapping into districts and finals. So sports news is gonna be a little more sporadic.
