Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Friday, June 12 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Friday, June 12th, 2026, and this is the Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the area. If it matters in the 9848, you'll hear it here. Congratulations, it's Friday. You're almost through another week into the weekend, just a few more hours to go.
In the next few minutes, we're gonna cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news. Whether you're heading to work or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community.
Grab your coffee, get ready for your today, and let's start with today's forecast. Currently 50 here at the studio, a little cooler in [00:01:00] George, a little warmer on the river. Feels a little bit cooler than it is, but not a whole lot. It's not like the other day. Today is gonna be sunny with a high in the low 80s.
Northwest wind eight to 13 miles per hour. Pretty mellow day here in the basin. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 56, and looking ahead at your weekend, it's currently looking like a sunny, beautiful weekend here around the 9848, with Saturday in the mid-80s and Sunday close to 90 with the occasional li-- light breeze both days.
It's gonna be a good weekend to be out and about and doing things. If you're r- looking for a reason to celebrate today, today is National Red Rose Day, so maybe grab a red rose and share it with that someone special. I'm not sure how red roses became the flower of choice for romance, but I love our rose bush.
We have beautiful red roses in my backyard, and they put a smile on my face and my wife's, so maybe we'll keep up that whole red rose thing. It's also National Peanut Butter [00:02:00] Cookie Day, which is my favorite kind of cookie, National Jerky Day, and National Movie Night. It's a pretty great day. I'm not sure who arranges these calendars or why they put some of the best days all on one day, but it sounds like a pretty good day all in all.
So enjoy a great movie tonight. Enjoy some great jerky. Peanut butter cookies if they're not gonna kill you 'cause I know some people can't have those. And get a rose for that special person. It's a pretty great day. Today around town there's a lot happening in the 9848, so listen closely because you're sure to see several things that will be of interest to you for the weekend.
It's Friday and it is the day, the day of the big Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce 2026 Annual Charity Golf Tournament. It's here. That's today. Join us in supporting this year's charity, the Quincy Community Food Bank. Enjoy great prizes and compete for the coveted championship trophy. This is going [00:03:00] on out at Clockin' Ridge Golf Course today.

The Quincy Sloan Library program is in swing. Summer's here and they're gearing up for a full season of reading, creativity, and fun at the Quincy Public Library.

An evening of heartfelt acoustics and laid-back vibes at Sage Cliff Resorts tonight at 7:00 PM as part of their In the Lobby event series, and it's an open event.
Go enjoy the views, listen to some great music, have a drink, and relax. If you're just looking for a place to grab a great bite around town and skip cooking and cleanup, hit some of our fine dining in the area. We're blessed in our community to have some amazing restaurants. Whether you're getting a slice or a burger at Monkey Around Pizza, going to Rich's Tacos, or out to the Scale House, the Riverside Restaurant, Tenderloins Restaurant, or Sunfire Grill, maybe Idle Hour, Anna Lou's, Brunch Box.
We got so many more. We got awesome food trucks like Sushi Aki as well. There are [00:05:00] all kinds of options. Skip the dishes tonight. It's Friday night. Maybe have a date night with that special somebody, and enjoy some local s- cuisine, and remember to support local while you're out this weekend
If you're not already smiling, 'cause like I said, it's a pretty great day already, here's your daily dad joke. Put a smile on your face as you head into the weekend. What should you do if you meet a giant? Use big words
Okay, I'll admit that one wasn't my best joke. In upcoming events, this Saturday, Royalty Dance Studio would like to invite you to their spring dance recital, The Sugar Kingdom: A Dance Story. Tickets are on sale now online or in the studio, and they're $15 each. The event will happen at Quincy High School Performing Arts Center on June 13th.
