Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Wednesday, June 24 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Today is Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, and this is the Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Southern Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 9848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, schools, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news.
Whether you're heading to work or just into easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Let's start this hump day edition with your local forecast. So grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's do it. Currently sixty-two here at the studio.
Slightly cooler in George, slightly warmer in the river communities. Pretty [00:01:00] normal start to the day. Today is mostly cloudy then gradually becoming sunny with a high near ninety-three. It's gonna be warm. Light and variable wind becoming west eight to thirteen miles per hour in the afternoon. Tonight, partly cloudy with a low around sixty-four.
Northwest winds eight to fifteen miles per hour with gusts as high as twenty-three miles per hour. Pretty standard night for late June. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is National Day of Joy. Cultivate a joyful outlook by appreciating small moments, spreading positivity, engage with some loved ones, explore new hobbies, and share what brings you genuine delight.
It's also National Pralines Day, so treat yourself to some sweet pecan treat today. That certainly helps my National J- Day of Joy. I'm a big pecan pie person. And so maybe swing by Crazy Lady Kitchen, grab a pecan sticky bun if they got them 'cause that's a pretty good pecan tasty treat. [00:02:00] And swing over and see if you f- find some pecan pie or maybe make one.
If you don't know how, let me know. I've got a great recipe. And to round out the day, grab some healthy exercise to maybe make up for that extra pecan sweetness. Uh, today is National Swim a Lap Day, and while our pool is not open yet, hopefully it will be very soon and you can go catch a lap there. If not, go out to Quincy Lakes, get some swimming in out there, enjoy some sunshine, get some exercise, and enjoy National Swim a Lap Day.
All part of the fun with National Day of Joy. And put a smile on your face. I've got your joke coming pretty soon, so I know that will help. It is hump day, and it's a good excuse to be happy. Don't be like everybody else in the office who's, like, all grumpy today. Just, just mess with everybody. Be joyful all day and happy and engage with people.[00:03:00]
It will really make people wonder, if nothing else Today around town, the Quincy Senior Center has bridge at 12:30 today. For crafters, there's the Chat & Stitch at 1:00, and the lunch menu is posted on the notes section at welcomeToQuincyWild.com as always for free. The free summer meals program for the Quincy School District is back in full swing, swing.
We'll see if I can pr- enunciate today. Children ages zero to 18 can enjoy free meals this summer through their Sit & Eat or pickup meal program. There's two pickup per week, except Quincy Rec Center, multiple meals at each one, no need for children to be present for pickup. It's an easy drive-through service.

Breakfast is available from 7:30 to 8:00 AM, and lunch is available from 11:30 to 12:15. Pickup sites are at Quincy Middle School and George [00:04:00] Elementary for, from June 22nd through July 30th.
Monday is six meals per child, Thursday is eight meals per child. These are available for pickup from 10:30 to 1:00 PM. Today is story time at the library at 2:30. Come enjoy wonderful children's books read out loud for kids. Get ready for joyful stories, silly songs, movement fun, and hands-on crafts and color activities at every session.
It's not just reading, it's more fun than that. It's the perfect way for kids ages one through 11 and their grownups, yeah, you get to come sit with the kids, that's the best part of it, I know, to spark imagination, build early literacy skills, and have a blast together. I still love reading to my kids, and they're way past that age group.
Reading to your kids is an amazing thing, and I absolutely encourage you, go spend time, sit on the floor with your kids, and listen to stories. There's something magical bl- about being read to out loud. It's [00:05:00] $6 sushi rolls over at Akin's, and that's always fun. Today, whether you try out delicious homemade cheesecake over at Gayton's Kitchen Creations, by the way, Romilda, yum.
Grab a yummy take-home meal from Crazy Lady Kitchen, or get breakfast at L&R Cafes. Skip the cleanup. Choose one of our fine restaurants around the 98848. We challenge you to try something new. Quincy has a lot of great options for amazing meals, and if you get a little bit outside of Quincy into the rest of the 98848, we have even more options with some great food all around us.

It is a day of joy, right? New hobbies and such. Now, I know hump day and all, so here it is. Here's your start to the day to put that smile on the face with your daily bad dad joke. What kind of bow can't be tied? A rainbow[00:07:00]

The city of Quincy would like-- would like to remind you that A Street Northeast is closed to tr- to through traffic during the construction that is going on.
Uh, construction is estimated to go through the first week of September. For more information, you can contact Hurst Construction LLC 509-664-0173, or the City of Quincy at 509-787-3523, extension two five eight. They apologize for the [00:13:00] inconvenience, but all of A Street Northeast and the adjacent and connecting intersections are closed down during this construction.
From the rec department, please help us preserve the integrity of our new park and splash pad at Sixth Avenue and E Street Northeast by abiding by the following: No bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates, or similar items are allowed on the play area-- padded play areas. These items can damage the brand-new padding.
Also, please help keep the playground cl- clean. We appreciate everybody helping with this. There is the nice little bowl there at that park for your skateboards, for your bikes, whatever you wanna do on that, that has been specifically for that, but they can tear up the nice padding underneath the play toys.

Facebook really is the most ridiculous way to try and share your event. Post it [00:17:00] on the community calendar, send it to us, or do both. We'll pick it up off the cal- community calendar as well. Well, that's one of the places we look for events. So post it on the calendar, send it to us, let us get that in- out there for you.
