Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Friday, June 26 2026

Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Friday, June 26th, 2026, and this is the Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 9848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news, as well as take a look at your upcoming weekend.

Whether you're heading to work or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community today and throughout the weekend. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with today's forecast. Today, a chance of showers after 11:00. Mostly cloudy with a high near 75.

East wind 5 to 13 miles per hour becomes [00:01:00] southwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 53. West winds 11 to 16 miles per hour with gusts as high as 25. Looking ahead at the weekend, it's a much cooler weekend than we've had for the last couple weekends.

We're gonna have low 70s during the day and 50s at night. Partly cloudy with a breeze and chance of showers on and off in the afternoons. Kind of a weird weekend for one of the last weekends in June. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is National Dream Big Day. That's right, dream big.

Most people dream really small. I challenge you to dream big. It's also National Take Your Dog to Work Today and National Food Truck Day. However, unless you're one of the really lucky few, not sure you should try and take your dog to work. You might have to dream big about [00:02:00] working in an environment where you can take your dog to work while you visit your favorite tr- food truck and-- or daydream while you enjoy some good food.

Maybe that's how today works. Maybe not. I guess it depends on where you work. But never forget to dream big. Most people dream small, and that's why they stay exactly where they are. Today around town, this is just the start of a very long list for this weekend. So today around town, the Quincy Valley Historical Si- Society Museum is proud to bring you Prehistoric Portals starting today and tomorrow from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This is the second weekend for this event, and this event was incredible last weekend. It features dino library, fossil fun, scavenger hunt, rock talk, dino puzzles and games, paleontology dig, dino habitat play, dino coloring non-drawing. There will also be fun photo opportunities, dino Play-Doh [00:03:00] play, and soccer with dinos.

Admission is free, and let's face it, all of our inner children love dinosaurs. That's why the Jurassic Pr- Park franchise and other movies with dinosaurs always do so well. Because we never actually grow out of loving dinosaurs, and every single one of our kids loves dinosaurs, whether they go through it as a phase for a little while where they can tell you every name of every dinosaur even though they can't pronounce their last name at a young age, or whether they've, quote-unquote, outgrown it.

You're an adult. You didn't outgrow it. You know they actually haven't. So check out this amazing event. It was a lot of fun last weekend. Tonight at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Store and Restaurant, Kyle Thompson is back. Join them for an evening of live music, great food, and summer fun. Bring your friends.

Enjoy. It's a great out, night out down at the venue at the Riverside Store and Restaurant. If you haven't been there, you should absolutely check it out. Tickets are available with Quincy Valley Shuttle and Tours for [00:04:00] this weekend's Beyond Wonderland Festival at the Gorge. So if you're heading out to the Gorge to enjoy the Beyond Wonderland Festival this weekend, why fight the traffic yourself?

Why worry about making sure that you can park and making sure that your Not having too much fun to drive safely, take the shuttle. Have a safe festival without having to worry about all the headaches of the traffic and parking. Let someone else do the driving and have a great weekend out at the Beyond Wonderland Festival.

Also, that's a heads-up to all of us in town, we're gonna have guests in the area. So just so you know, there will be an uptick in traffic and people you don't know. QHL is running a fundraiser for one of their employees. Charles, one of the guys that if you shop at QHL, you absolutely know Charles, is currently in the hospital, and they're working on raising funds to help with his medical experiences during this time.

They're holding a few different raffles, raffles as well as accepting donations. [00:05:00] Any contributions, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will support Charles and his family. Raffle tickets, there's, uh, one... $5 for one ticket, $20 for five. Every ticket purchased and every donation makes it easier to help, or makes it easier on Charles and his loved ones with the financial burdens.

We all know what hospital bills are like. If you're just looking for a place to grab a great bite around town and skip the cooking, skip the cleanup, maybe, you know, enjoy your night out instead of having to clean up after yourself or do the cooking, we all have those days where it's just better to go out, right?

We have a lot of fine dining around the 9848. We're blessed in our community to have some amazing restaurants, from Monkey Around Pizza and Rich's Tacos to The Scale House and the Riverside Restaurant, out to Tendrils or the Sunfire Grill, maybe Idle Hour, Andaluz Br- Brunch Box. Or maybe you like our food trucks, Sushi Aki and some of the other ones here in town.

We have a lot of amazing food [00:06:00] if you're willing to go check it out. So remember to support local on your weekend. Enjoy some time away. Skip the cooking. Let somebody else worry about that. Try one of our amazing restaurants that you have not tried, and experience our town and our community the way it's meant to be experienced.

Now it's Friday, and we have to have a great dad joke for Friday to send you off on your weekend. So here's your Friday dad joke: 70% of the Earth's surface is covered in water, and none of it is carbonated. That's proof that the Earth is flat.

And upcoming events, we've got a really long list for you, taking you all the way through the weekend. There's a lot going on this weekend around the community. On Saturday, June 27th, you're invited from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to 1105 Northeast Columbia Way across from the Yahoo building to join in and celebrate the grand opening of our newest [00:07:00] business, Garage Life.

They're excited to announce that the opening of Quincy's new luxury storage facility for RVs, boats, and vehicles. Come be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Meet everybody. They hope to see you there Also this weekend, the Quincy Rec Department presents Movies in the Park. Saturday at Losure Park Stage, the film The Bad Guys 2.

It's an animated film, if you're not familiar with it. The first two, I've seen both of them. They're really kind of cute, so it's a great family movie. It's a free event. Bring your chair, a blanket, some snacks, the entire family. All children must be accompanied by an adult. It is a little bit later, 'cause you gotta wait for the sun goes down.

So the movie at the park will start about 9:15. But this is a great family event if you're okay keeping your kids up that late. I know for little, little kids, that might be a little much, but you know what? They can curl up in a blanket on the grass next to you and fall asleep right there. So it's still a win-win.

Sunland Estate's Wildfire [00:08:00] and Community Safety Day is Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00, and they're gonna have a lot of the first responders from Grant County, from EMS and fire and, uh, sheriff's office, to answer questions, to help people train and educate around wildfires and community safety, all the things you need to know living out in this area.

It's a great opportunity. There's also a free concert on the Stage B Amphitheater at KB Estate Winery. This Saturday, head out to KB Winery and check out The Panglers. There's no reservation needed. Just come on by. There will be wine tasting on the front lawn. Join in for a good time. Registration is open still for the Greater Crescent Bar Association's second annual Crescent Bar Pickle Tournament.

And guess what? It's Saturday. 64 teams total, co-ed teams only. Whether you're coming back to defend tile or are stepping onto the court for the very first time, [00:09:00] this is your moment. Grab your partner, co-ed, like I said, bring your A-game, and get ready for an unforgettable day of competition, fun, and Crescent Bar vibes.

Spots will fill fast. Don't wait. Register now and secure your place in the tournament. Let's make the event bigger, louder, and more competitive this year. Also Saturday in Andaluz, because you asked for it, Marque arrives from Tierras Caliente along with Nueva Era and DJ Andaluz for a night full of music, dance, and the best atmosphere.

The fun starts at 8:00 PM and goes to 1:45. This is a 21 and over event. Ladies, $20 for before 9:00 PM. Get here early to get your table. Tables are free. No reservations. The kitchens are open all night, and the food is flowing and amazing. Check out drink specials and bring your friends and have some fun Moving into Sunday, we've got a sip and paint over at the Jones [00:10:00] Winery tasting room at the Quincy Market, hosted by Goldie Jules.

Also on Sunday, there's soccer, golf, and more with the Quincy Rec Department at Leisure Park from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM- or 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. There'll be multiple games to play. It's for ages three and up. I don't have a whole lot of information about it, but you can head over to the Rec Department's Facebook to find out more.

Next week, on Thursday, July 2nd, the Quincy Public Library is calling all kid detectives. Grant PD needs you for a mission to track down energy waste. In two weeks, St. Paul Lutheran Church VBS, July 6th through the 10th [00:13:00] from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the First Baptist Church VBS is also July 6th through the 10th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

I know a lot of kids are gonna be double-dipping on that one. Also, the following week, Quincy Free Methodist Church VBS is July 13th through July 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This is another reminder, we are deep into fire season already. It's a hot, dry year. We're just coming out of another red flag warning.

Be especially careful while traveling, while camping, while doing outdoor activities this year. We live in an amazing area for outdoor activity, but please be respectful, be responsible, and take care of our community, and keep yourself safe as well
