Tonight, mostly clear with a low around 52. Little bit [00:01:00] breezy, but pretty standard night here in the 98848. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today's national celebrations remind us that some of life's simplest pressures-- pleasures never go out of style. A handwritten letter, the people who deliver it, and a really good scoop of ice cream.

So happy National Postal Wor- Postal Workers Day. Happy National US Postage Stamp Day. You know, you don't remember those. You guys still use postage stamps from time to time, right? And happy National Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day. That's right. Find a creative flavor of ice cream that you haven't tried before, and hey, give it a shake.

See what you think. Today around town at the Quincy Senior Center, there's bridge at 12:30 today. For crafters, there's chat and stitch today at 1 PM. For all of you poetry lovers, tonight is Poetry Open Mic Night by the Quincy Valley Historical Society and Museum at 7:00 PM over at the Quincy Valley Museum.

For [00:02:00] poetry lovers, get your poetry on. Share something original, share something that you've been working on, share something that you just love. Poetry is magic for the soul. Tonight's also karaoke night at the Riverside Restaurant in Sunland Estates. They had to move it up a day because of all the 4th of July events coming up, but tonight, get your karaoke on, go down to the Riverside Restaurant in Sunland Estates, and kick off 4th of July a little bit early with good friends, good food, and a sing-along hosted by Papa D.

At Tower of Pizza, they're opening a little bit early tonight for a World Cup watch party. The game starts at 5:00. Come on down, enjoy the World Cup, have some great food, some great friends, and cheer together as you watch the game. Today is $6 sushi roll at Akin's as well. And tonight, the city of George is hosting line dancing for beginners, which they offer every Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the George Community Hall.

It's $10 for each [00:03:00] lessons. Gather a group of friends, have a great time, learn something new, polish off your line dancing. I'm sure there's gonna be cause to line dance this weekend. Today, whether you're trying out a delicious homemade cheesecake at Gayton's Kitchen Creations, or you grab a yummy take-home meal from the Crazy Lady Kitchen, or get breakfast at Eleanor Cafe, skip the cleanup, choose one of our fine restaurants all around the 9848.

We challenge you to try something new. We have so many great options for so many amazing meals around our community. Go out, try one that's new to you, support local, and hey, save yourself some dishes and some cleanup while you're at it. Now, I know it's hump day, and for some people, the week has started a little slow.

In upcoming events, Quincy Valley Shuttle and Tours will be running all day from Quincy to George for the Fourth of July celebration out at George this weekend. It's $5 for seniors, $10 for others, and $40 for all-day rides back and forth between Quincy and George, with two different pickup locations here in Quincy.

Prices include tax. Leave the car here, avoid the traffic and the parking, and have a great, safe Fourth of July. Enjoy all the festivities down at the George Fourth of July celebration, from the very opening ceremonies all the way through the great concert on Saturday night The Gorge Amphitheatre is hiring, and if you wanna work in live music, head out to the job fair on July 2nd from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

It's a live walk-in interviews for jobs for many different positions they have throughout their [00:05:00] organization. If you're looking for that summer job or a little extra work, here's an opportunity for you to pick something extra up for you. Quincy Partnership for Youth is looking for youth reps. If you're in middle school or high school, and you wanna make a difference in your community, and you need something to do for the summer, join the youth representative group for Quincy Partnership for Youth.

They've got a spot for you. Get involved, and if you're interested, call or text us at 509-797-5242. Tracking your events for this upcoming 4th of July weekend as we hit America's 250th birthday. Dear friends and veterans, on behalf of the Quincy Rotary Club and the Quincy Cemetery District 1, they're planning on putting up veterans' flags for the 4th of July at the Quincy Valley Cemetery.

We'll be posting flags at 7:00 AM. Following the posting of the flags, we'll be having a short patriotic program with a light breakfast at the cemetery pavilion. All [00:06:00] are invited. We'll retire the flags at 5:00 PM. We now have over 300 veteran flags, and we appreciate all the help that can come. Start your 4th of July with a tridif- terrific tradition.

After that, you can head out to George's 4th of July celebration that begins with a pancake breakfast at 7:00 AM going all the way to 11:00, followed by the Cherry Bomb Rung... Cherry Bomb Run, not rung, market vendors, food, booze, and the annual parade at 10:00 AM. The day also includes a patriotic program featuring Veterans Operation Creation, the Choppers Brass Band, historic re-enactors, the George American History Museum, and the serving of the world's largest cherry pie beginning at 12:30 PM.

Afternoon entertainment includes children's activities, live music, an antique tractor show, and performances by Los Vega and the Campground Boys. New this year for America's 250th anniversary, country artist Jeremy McComb and the Honky Tonk Circus headline an evening event leading up to the fireworks show [00:07:00] at 10:00 PM.

It's gonna be a big weekend, or you could head out to Crescent Bar. And Crescent Bar has a 4th of July 5K color run. Supported by the Quincy Booster Club and the Quincy High School Cross Country program. Register by 8:00 AM, and the race begins at 8:30 AM. For more information, email

It's gonna be a fun-filled evening with live music, community patriotism, and one of the most spectacular fire works displays in our history. There's an expanded beer garden, a massive firework show, and as our nation marks 250 years of freedom, independence, and opportunity, let's come together along the Crum- Columbia River to celebrate what makes America special: family, friends, community, and the freedom to gather and create memories [00:08:00] together.

Now this is a late notice. I mentioned it yesterday in the show. The new Aquatic Center program is going on. It actually started yesterday, and it's... the question is, has your older kiddo outgrown swim lessons but is interested in now becoming a lifeguard someday? Well, the next [00:09:00] Wave Future Lifeguard Club is a brand-new program designed for youth ages 12 to 16 who wanna build the skills and the confidence needed for future lifeguard training.

Participants will improve their swimming ability while developing valuable leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through fun activities and challenges in the water. It's free to attend. It started on June 30th. It runs on Tuesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It's an eight-week program. Whether your teen is thinking about becoming a lifeguard or just wants a fun way to challenge themselves and improve their swimming, this is a great opportunity to dive in.

No registration fee. Just bring a swimsuit, a positive attitude, and be ready to make a splash.
