Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Friday, July 10 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Friday, July 10th, 2026, and this is the Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 9848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news, as well as what's ahead for the weekend.
Whether you're heading to work or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for your day, and let's start with today's forecast. Low 60s here at the studio this morning. Little cooler in George, a little warmer in the River communities.
Today is gonna be sunny with a high near 91, with a very typical basin [00:01:00] wind. That nice, you know, 9 to 15 mile an hour range with the occasional gust Tonight, mostly clear with a low around 62. Looking ahead at our weekend, it's gonna be sunny with mid upper 80s during the day and right around 60 at night on both days.
Pretty standard 98.8 FOR8 winds. It's gonna be a pretty pleasant weekend, gonna be a good time to be outside. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate, today is National Pina Colada Day, National French Fry Day, and National Kitten Day. Sounds like a great chill kind of day. Like, I could seriously see myself kicking back in the backyard and sipping a nice cold pina colada and eating some warm french fries, maybe watching some kitten videos on YouTube.
I'm not a huge fan, but my daughters really like them, so you know, I, I could chill and watch them with my daughters Maybe you're a big kitten fan. If you're a big kitten fan, [00:02:00] you can always check in with the Quincy Animal Shelter. They've always got cats and kittens that are looking for a good home.
Today around town, let's highlight one of our resources first. The Quincy Community Food Bank is open today from 9:30 to 12. Food Bank's located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy, can be reached at 509-787-4963 or quincyfoodbank@gmail.com. The food bank also welcomes volunteers, so feel free to reach out and see how you can be of service, and check in on how the build is going.
Uh, last time I drove by, they're still working on the new portion of the food bank, but I know that project is continuing, and that's something we've been covering for several months now. Check in, just see how it's going. Hopefully, the new space will be open soon. The Quincy Partnership for Youth is looking for youth reps.
If you're a middle or high school student... Middle school or high [00:03:00] school. Sorry, I should clarify that. If you're a middle or high school student, not a middle student, and you wanna make a difference in your community, maybe you're looking for something to get involved in this summer, join as a youth representative.
They've got spots for you. Get involved. If you're interested, call or text us at 509-797-5242. The school district's free summer meals program is still in swing, with childrens 0 to 18 can enjoy free meals for the summer through their sit-in and pickup meal programs. There's only two pickups per week.
Multiple meals at once. No need for children to be present for the pickup. Easy drive-through service And that is at George Elementary and the middle school, I believe. And the Sit and Eat program is Quincy City Parks or the recreation building from June 23rd through August 8th, Monday through Friday, and breakfast is 7:30 to 8:00 AM, lunch is 11:30 AM to 12:15.
There's a car wash [00:04:00] fundraiser today at AutoZone starting at 12:00 PM, the 2013 girls' soccer team. I don't know what the number specifies, honest, upfront. Don't know what the number specifies, but the girls' soccer team will be participating in raising money to help pay for their summer tournament fees.
Let's come out and support our local kids and sports teams. I love car washes. I lo- glad that we caught this one. Go over to AutoZone, starts at 12:00 PM, get your car scrubbed up, support a good cause. For a fun night out with your friends, get ready for bingo with raffles and prizes tonight at 8:00 PM at Tower Pizza in Crescent Bar.
That's right, head on down to Tower Pizza, have some fun, have some great food, enjoy the view, and have a good night out. The Quincy Valley Historical Society Museum is calling all young squires and maidens. Join us at Camelot for some medieval merriment. The summer adventure in the castle, AKA the Heritage Barn, and it looks great.
I was looking at the pictures earlier this morning [00:05:00] of all the changes they made to the Heritage Barn for this event. Includes dragons, knights, princesses, the Sword in the Stone, and so many great events. The Quincy Valley Historical Society Museum are hosting an event called Camelot Quest today and tomorrow only.
This is a two-day event from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and it's for school- elementary school-aged kids all the way up to sixth grade. Camelot Quest is only for one weekend, and it's designed to be a great event for your kids. Like I said, I was checking out the pictures online this morning. It's gonna be a really, really cool event.
I highly recommend if you've got a kid in that age group and you're looking for some fun today, go get involved. The dinosaur thing they did a couple weeks ago was fabulous. Check out Camelot Quest today and tomorrow. Tonight at the Andaluz, get ready for some great live music with Los Vega to set the atmosphere.
Come dance, sing, enjoy with all your family and friends. [00:06:00] Free ent- all- entry all night long, and the kitchen's open all night as well. 21 and over event from 8:00 PM to 1:45 AM over at 915 Central Avenue Southwest. If you're looking for information, call 509-787-3213. You can't afford to miss it. See you this Friday at the Andaluz.
I know it's Friday. You should already have a great reason to smile. The weekend is here. You've all but done it. But just in case, here's your daily dad joke. What did one hat say to the other hat? You stay here. I'll go on ahead
In upcoming events, looking ahead, we got Movie Night Under the Stars at the Crescent Bar Campground. Grab your friends, family, and blankets, lawn chairs. Join us for a fun-filled evening on the golf course at Crescent Bar Campground on Saturday, July 11th. Movie starts at 9:30 PM on the golf course between the tee box [00:07:00] one and green nine.
Free popcorn while supplies last. There's nothing better than a summer evening under the stars with a great movie, good company, and plenty of popcorn. Bring a blanket, chair, find your perfect spot, enjoy a relaxing night with the Crescent Bar community. Fun for all ages and family-friendly atmosphere.
Here's another option for a movie night at the pool. Also on Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 PM, grab your swimsuit, your family for an unforgettable evening under the stars. Relax in the water, float with friends, enjoy a movie on the big screen in one of the coolest ways to spend a summer night. Regular admission rates apply for the pool.
There's a rumor that you can see it from outside the fence in the park as well. I think they're watching Shark Tales. The Riverside Store and Restaurant invites you to join them Saturday night at 7:00 PM for a great night of good food and live music brought to you by Amber Pilzl. I'm probably saying that wrong, but check it out down at the Riverside Store and Restaurant.
They have great [00:08:00] food, and the music down there is always legit. It's a great way to spend a Saturday night. This Saturday at the Andaluz Restaurant and Nightclub, enjoy a great night with Band Lunera and Grupo Coronados dels live. I think that got typed wrong into my notes. Featuring great food and tasty drinks, ladies get in free all night, gentlemen free before 9:00 PM.
The kitchen's open all night. This is a 21 and over event, 8:00 PM to 1:45 AM over at the An- Andaluz.

This Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00 PM over at the senior center And another option this weekend, join us for a special outdoor yoga nidra experience at Trinity Gardens [00:09:00] Lavender Farm.
That's right, head out to Trinity Gardens Lavender Farm. It's a beautiful experience out there. Saturday, July 11th, 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. It's $25 cash or Venmo for the session for yoga nidra. I'm pronouncing that wrong, I have no doubt. N-I-D-R-A. This is something truly magical to begin the day surrounded by beauty and the fragrance of lavender.
Join in for a deeply restorative yoga nidra and sound bath experience designed to calm the nervous system, release stress, and reconnect with your stillness. As the morning sun rises over the field, you'll be guided into a state of profound rest while immersed in the healing vibrations of crystal singing bowls This experience is perfect for anyone seeking deep relaxation, nervous system restoration, stress release, and inner peace, and a chance to slow down and simply be.
No experience is necessary. You don't have to be a [00:10:00] deeply experienced yogi. Just bring yourself, a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, or anything else that will help you feel comfortable and supported. Come rest among the lavender and allow yourself to be held by nature, sound, and stillness. In church events, your VBSs are almost complete for this week.
St. Paul Lutheran Church's VBS has been going on all week, along with the First Baptist Church's VBS have been going all week, and it's been great events at both facilities and both groups. Next week, we have Quincy Free Methodist Church's VBS. It's July 13th through 17th, so that's starting Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM daily.
It's gonna be a great event. They're getting geared up. Uh, it's gonna be fantastic if you've never been over for that one, so be sure and check that out if you want your child over in VBS. It's a great place to be. Also this Sunday, the 12th, groundbreaking prayer at Q- Quincy Free Methodist Church at 9:30, and then there are [00:11:00] church services at many of the fine houses of worship here in the 90848.

In school news, the Quincy School District is hiring, and if you're looking for a meaningful career where you can make a difference in the lives of students, Quincy School District is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team. Current openings include physical specialists, school nurse, school psychiatrist-- psychologist, not psychiatrist.
I always say that wrong. Parent, family, and community engagement coordinator, multilingual student advocates. They also have openings in food service and certificated teaching positions available throughout the district, and I know they're always looking for bus drivers. Whether you're an experienced professional, an educator, or someone passionate about supporting students and families, they'd love to hear from you.
Maybe you never thought of it. If you go over to the school website, it's... there's a lot of job openings, and you may not ever realize that your skill set actually works for the school district as well, so it may be a great opportunity for you.
