Good Morning Quincy WA Daily Brief – Tuesday, July 14 2026
Speaker: [00:00:00] Good morning, Quincy. Today is Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, and this is the Good Morning Quincy, Washington newscast with your daily local update for Quincy, George, Winchester, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and all of the surrounding area. If it matters in the 98848, you'll hear it here. In the next few minutes, we'll cover today's weather, what's happening around town, school sports and activities, school, city council, police, fire, church, community, and local business news.
Whether you're heading to work, getting kids out the door, or just easing into your day, we're here to help you stay connected to what's happening in our community. Grab your coffee, get ready for the day, and let's start with today's forecast. Currently in the upper 60s here at the studio. Little variation around the 98848, around 70 down in the Nip River communities.
[00:01:00] But starting out pretty pleasant this morning. Today, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny with a high near 94. Light and variable wind becoming south 6 to 11 miles per hour in the afternoon. And tonight, increasing clouds with a low around 68 If you're looking for a reason to celebrate today, with it being Tuesday, today is a fun day of celebration of National Mac and Cheese Day.
That's right, break out that childhood favorite, whether you have kids currently or not, break out that trusted old friend that we all grew up with. Whether you go straight to the Kraft Mac and Cheese or whether you actually eat restaurant quality or, you know, homemade designer mac and cheese with more to it, whatever your flavor, today is National Mac and Cheese Day.
Break it out and relive those childhood memories. It's also Cow Appreciation Day. We have a lot of cows in the 9848. Not as much as [00:02:00] some areas, but we definitely have a lot of cows in the 9848. And cows, well, thank God for beef. Whether it's a beef cow or a dairy cow, cows have a huge impact on our daily lives.
So take a minute and appreciate what's in your fridge or on your plate or in your glass. Wherever you enjoy your dairy or your beef, appreciate a cow today. And hey, it can be a fun cow. It can be a dairy cow. It can be one of those hairy cows that has hair way too long for its head to actually see anything.
My sister-in-law likes those. I don't understand the appeal, but, you know, appreciate a cow today
Today around town, the Quincy Senior Center has an exercise class today at 1:00 PM, and they play Mexican Train at 6:30 PM after dinner, where the menu is, of course, [00:03:00] on our welcometoquincywa.com site over under the Notes section. Today, Quincy Valley Shuttle and Tours has their second taco tasting of tour event.
They're gonna meet at Losure Park at 5:30. The cost is $10 for a seat. You buy your tacos and beverages at each rest- restaurant they go to. Seats are limited, first come, serve, first serve. What they're gonna do is they are on a quest. There are a lot of places to get tacos around Quincy. And so for $10, you jump on the bus or the shuttle, whatever they're taking today, and go to three different taco places pulled at random from a hat.
They went to three last month. They're going to three this month. They are on a mission to find the very best tacos in Quincy And it's by luck of the draw as to which restaurant she go to. So go get on the Taco Bus, find out which are the very best tacos in Quincy. We can't wait to hear their [00:04:00] decisions later on.
Here's a highlight of one of our wonderful community resources. The Quincy Community Food Bank is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 12:00, 8 PM- 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The food bank's located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy. It's a great resource helping out local members of the community, local families, uh, through some difficult moments.
Whether you're just a little short at this part of the month or things have been tight, it doesn't matter. They're here to help. There's no judgment. They're just here to help our community and make sure that we're taking care of our families in the area. The food bank's located at 210 First Avenue Southeast in Quincy, and can be reached at 509-787-4963 or at quincyfoodbank@gmail.com.
The food bank also welcomes volunteers, so feel free to reach out and see how you can be of service as well. The free summer meal [00:05:00] programs are in full swing. Kids zero to 18 can enjoy free meals this summer through their Sit N' Eat Pick- Meal Pick Up program. Today's Sit N' Eat at Quincy City Parks and Recreation buildings is from 7:30 to 8:00 AM for breakfast, and lunch is at 11:30 to 12:15 PM.
Crafternoon for Kids is back for summer fun. They're calling all young artists and creators. Get ready to make something amazing. Join us today from 2:30 to 3:30 PM for hands-on creativity over at the library. Each week through August 11th features a brand-new craft with all the supplies provided. Kids can create and explore with their imaginations in a welcoming and safe space.

She Strong Studio has Zumba classes on Tuesdays at [00:06:00] 6:00 PM for its members. And if your kid is starting to hit you with the, "I'm bored," or you're just trying to get them off screens, or they're looking to learn t- new skills, the Quincy Rec Department is offering a chance to learn to play pickleball for ages kids...
for kids ages six to 12, using fun, high-repetition drills and games to develop confidence and technique with a focus on safety first, appropriate equipme- equipment, structured warmups, and a positive environment. Camp runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and runs from June 30th through July 23rd.
It may be a little bit later in the program, but I bet you can still get a kid in there. It's located at Losia Park. The camp's brought to you by the Rec Department. If you got questions, you can call 509-787-3523, extension 5, or email recreation@quincywashington.us. It's a great opportunity for your kid to get active, [00:07:00] to learn a new skill, to have some fun, to get outside in the fresh air.
It's a great program Now it's Tuesday. Let's put that smile onto your face to help you get into your day, because everybody should start with a smile. It just, the day goes better when you start with a smile. So here is your daily dad joke. Why did the Energizer Bunny go to jail? He was charged with battery.
And upcoming events, Wednesday is story time at the Quincy Public Library at 2:30 PM. Come enjoy wonderful children's books read out loud for kids. Get ready for joyful stories, silly songs, movement fun, and hands-on craft or coloring activities at, at every session. The Quincy Rec Department's Cornhole Summer League is underway. If you didn't get your team registered, it may be too late, it may not be, I don't know. [00:08:00] You can call 509-787-3523, extension five, and see if you can still squeeze your co-ed team in. The cost is $45 per team, and teams must be co-ed. Matches will be from July 8th through August 12th on Wednesday nights at East Park from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Or you may just wanna go cheer them on and check it out for the next time and see if it's something you wanna do next time.
Go see what it's about. Maybe cornhole is that secret skill or game that you just never really knew that you loved until you actually give it a shot and see what it's like when you're actually playing more than just passing through at some event. It may be that thing you've always wanted to do. Check it out over at East Park, 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
And like I said, I don't know that registration is still available. I know we've gone through the first week, but if nothing else, call the rec department if you think you can still squeeze in, see if they'll let you in. If [00:09:00] not, go cheer them on, have some fun. I wanna see this get really rowdy. Like, that would be really cool.
Just a really rowdy, hearty cornhole league, like, you know, major screaming fans. Wouldn't that be fun? Just, just for the people doing it, just like go cheer for them. We should do that. We should all show up at East Park on Wednesday nights and just cheer, like, really big for the cornhole teams. That'd be cool.
