SPEAKER_00

The new cast list is up in five, four, three, two, one.

SPEAKER_03

Welcome back to the cast list. That was generations from Children of Eden. I'm Patrick. And I'm RJ. And we're matching today.

SPEAKER_01

That indeed we are. We did not do that on purpose. When great minds just come together, think alike when you know it's podcast recording day for the podcast. You just we just both knew that it was a red and black fl uh flannel day.

SPEAKER_03

We kind of for people who aren't watching, we kind of look like Paul Bunyan a little bit. But we both got to work at the same time today, and we stepped out of the car, and we just like we pointed at each other. Like the Spider-Man meme. Like the Spider-Man meme, and we were like, dude. Yeah. Yeah. It was insanity. But that raises the question of one, does it work for the podcast? Two, should we always do this?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if we should always do this. Not always, but like for like certain It's the happy accidents that make life enjoyable. Yeah. Okay. That's what they say a lot about a lot of babies, too. Oh gosh.

SPEAKER_03

Is that what they said about you? No. You were the happy accident that made life enjoyable.

SPEAKER_01

Well, parents are coming to town in a couple weeks. We can ask them. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We should have them on the podcast.

SPEAKER_01

No, they would hate it. Oh. Absolutely. Have they listened? Uh I don't know if my dad even knows what a podcast is. Okay. My mom, I think she would if she knew how to find it. Um, but who knows? Maybe I'll get a call after this episode comes out and uh I'll be proven wrong. Okay. Do your parents listen to the podcast?

SPEAKER_03

I think they listen to the first one because they were like, you have a podcast? Oh yeah. And then I I don't know. I think the newness of it has worn off on them.

SPEAKER_01

So they've given up. Where my parents are oblivious, you yours know this exists and it stopped.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. My mom might still be listening to them. I need to ask. I need to ask.

SPEAKER_01

Um but we have my parents and Patrick's parents. If you're actually listening and uh care and love about your children, write us an email at the Art Center uh at the Cast List.

SPEAKER_03

Just Cast List.

SPEAKER_01

At uh at just Cast List at ArtCenterofCC.com. Tell us that you're listening. Um we have this is episode five, so we'll see when that email comes out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. In like seven months. Yeah. We have a really good episode today. We interviewed Cameron Clark, uh, who is an actor in Children of Eden. Yeah. An employee here at the Art Center of East.

SPEAKER_01

And that was the song you heard at the beginning of the podcast. It's what what's it called?

SPEAKER_03

It's called Generations. Generations from Children of Eden. Yep. Written by Stephen Schwartz.

SPEAKER_01

I can't wait to see it.

SPEAKER_03

It's really good music.

SPEAKER_01

I know almost nothing about it, so talking to Cameron has really enlightened me.

SPEAKER_03

It is really good music. I highly recommend for anyone who's listening to come see it. You will you will love it. And the set is really cool, the costumes are cool. Um, I don't want to talk too much about it because that's what Cam does later on in the episode. Uh, but please consider coming to see it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What have you got in your handy dandy notebook for us this week, Patrick?

SPEAKER_03

In the handy dandy notebook, there are a few things to hit before we listen to Cameron. Okay. Um, just to kind of get into it. Uh, we're doing something really, really cool for our upcoming production of The Hobbit.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes, we are. We are building a dragon. We're building a dragon. Now, for those who have maybe never seen the movie or read the book, um, first of all, what's wrong with you? But that's okay. We forgive you. Um, but the dragon smog is a very, very, very important part of the story. Yes. And um, there is a major scene where our young titular hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, talks to the dragon smog. So we needed a dragon, and um a couple months ago when I knew I was doing the hobbit, knew I needed a dragon, started Googling stuff, and lo and behold, on uh YouTube, there is a very nice man.

SPEAKER_03

A very nice French fan.

SPEAKER_01

A very I don't know if he lives in France or where he lives, but he is from France. He is as French as you can get.

SPEAKER_03

They speak French in other places.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, no, but he's like he comes straight from Petty. Okay. You could just sense it about him. Yeah. And uh he builds things, extremely detailed things.

SPEAKER_03

Like hyper-realistic.

SPEAKER_01

Hyper realistic things out of cardboard.

SPEAKER_03

And you can't even really tell they're out of cardboard.

SPEAKER_01

He's built like um the Xenomorph from Alien with Tony Weaver.

SPEAKER_03

A ton of the movie and movie characters.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the Predator Mask, Darth Vader, all out of cardboard. And he sells his templates. Or as he says.

SPEAKER_03

So we downloaded his template for this dragon, and we're building this dragon out of Kiat Bold.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we have gotten so much cardboard from people coming into the art center. And it's huge. Because it's like 200 pieces. The template, the template has 142 pages.

SPEAKER_03

And we have put in probably at this point already, four full days of work into this dragon, and we have just now completed the skeletal structure of the like top and bottom jaw.

SPEAKER_01

So I would say like this is gonna take at least a month and a half. Yeah, like it's gonna take at least three episodes. We're probably 10 to 15% of the way through it. And he's inspired and designed as the Frenchman designed him off uh, I believe I'm saying it right, Drogon, the dragon, the Game of Thrones dragon. So the main uh Daenerys Targaryen dragon, that's what he's gonna look like, except we're gonna be painting him red because Smog is red.

SPEAKER_03

He's gonna look really cool. We're detailing like scales out of like hot glue and stuff and giving him big old horns and teeth. Yeah. And you'll probably be able to get it uh get a picture taken with old Smoggy. Yeah. For the amount of work we're putting into him, we're gonna need to come up with like a Yes. There will be no I say uh I say this. I don't actually mean it. I do want to charge for pictures for Smog.

SPEAKER_01

I would love that would be awesome. But you know we'll see what happens. We'll see how he turns out because right now he looks good, but we could mess up the Kyad board and No, but he's gonna look really cool. Yeah. So anyway, get tickets for the Hobbit this year.

SPEAKER_03

So many hot glue burns on my fingers. I'm in pain. Yeah. Um, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, as our college um graduate assistant, you're you're on smog duties. I am on smog duties. Yeah. Um, but see him at the Hobbit May 2nd and 9th. Tickets on sale now. Yep. Uh top, come on, let's get excited. Okay, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_03

I was I always trying to figure out what to talk about next. On the topic of shows, just a reminder nine to five auditions are coming up. That is March 28th and 29th, with possible callbacks following.

SPEAKER_01

I believe there will be callbacks. Right. Mr. Mr. Darrell sends to always do his callbacks.

SPEAKER_03

Right, right. Um on a topic that isn't shows. What?

SPEAKER_01

It snowed yesterday. Well, for those not living uh in the Middle Tennessee area, we have gone through a Middle Tennessee false um false spring, as it is called. Um it is Wednesday, so March 18th at time of recording. Five days ago on Saturday, it was sunny skies and about what, 75 degrees?

SPEAKER_03

On Sunday, I wore khaki shorts and a t-shirt.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

On Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

And Sunday night, a great big storm blew through the state of Tennessee.

SPEAKER_03

So much so that it snowed it snowed so hard that Amanda, I believe it was yeah, I believe it was Amanda, she sent a picture of her front yard and her kids had built a snowman.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they built a snowman. And what's crazy again about living here is insane. They they live in uh north uh not north. They live on one side of Cannon County. I live on the other side of Cannon County. Um we're on different ends of the art center, and where I lived, I got no snow. We got we got some dustings. Yeah, we got some dustings, none of it stuck though. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but yeah, so that was crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Um I mean, I hope people think that's crazy that it just snows.

SPEAKER_03

No, that's I mean the snow the day after I wore khaki shorts. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Tennessee for you.

SPEAKER_03

Global warming. Is that what it is? Uh well, I don't think it's normal. I it I'm not saying it's global warming. I don't know. I'm not exactly a scientist.

SPEAKER_01

I've lived here a long time. The weather does cuckoo for cocoa puff things.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, cocoa puffs. Do you still eat cocoa puffs? I don't still eat them, but I come on now. No, I don't. I actually I I eat old man cereal. What is old man cereal? I eat my go-to cereal is special K fruit and yogurt. That is definitely old man cereal. So good. I'm like like they don't even have a cartoon character. No. No. They don't have a cartoon. They're not well, I guess Kellogg says on them.

SPEAKER_01

But every time I'm at the store, I'm getting a box of special K fruit and that's your go-to every morning you're eating a not every morning, but every every time I get cereal.

SPEAKER_03

It's my interesting.

SPEAKER_01

It's my go-to. Very interesting. What what what else do we got in that notebook there?

SPEAKER_03

Um, let's see.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah. Class reminders. Oh, yeah. Remind we we talked so much about the art classes.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we have the art classes that are coming up. We have two, we have a uh a Jack Lab painting class and then we have um the two-day Roberta class. Yep. So all information about that is on our website. Uh feel free to check it out. Um, I would say it most likely won't fill up to be too big, but just in case, I would I would go ahead and start looking at that if you're interested.

SPEAKER_01

Patrick, don't be so pessimistic. It is gonna fill up, so don't hesitate. Get your spot now.

SPEAKER_03

So don't hesitate, because it could fill up, actually. What are you doing? I don't know. Be positive. I am being positive, but I'm also trying to make sure people get their spots reserved.

SPEAKER_01

They should.

SPEAKER_03

What's next? Oh, this is the part I'm really excited about. What? What's going on, Patrick? So last episode we talked about how I potentially was in the market for a rescue dog. Okay. I can now confirm that I am getting a rescue dog. And I'm so excited. I'm rescuing a French bulldog mom.

SPEAKER_01

Uh she was Wait, wait, wait, like an actual dog, not like the mom and a bulldog, yeah. Are you like I was about to say that's very strange you're bringing in someone's mom to your house.

SPEAKER_03

A canine animal. Uh-huh. Um she is very young, and she's coming from a cruelty case uh where she was abused. So she was starved, you know, and forced to breed, etc. Um, and she's so very young. She was way too young to have puppies. Um and so in about ten days f I think I want to say yeah, five days from the time this airs is when we finally finally can get her. Um it's when her puppies will be old enough to go off on their own. Um we've met her already. She is the absolute cutest thing on the planet, and we're naming her Penelope Potato. And I'm going to love Penelope Potato forever, and she is going to be the most spoiled. Um, all she does is really she lays around and she wants to be lazy and she wants to be loved. Um we got her a literal a little like chic little collar in bed. Chic collar?

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. What's a chic dog collar look like? Corduroy. It's corduroy and it's lavender. Are you all gonna be that annoying couple who like brings the dog everywhere? Um you know, like on an airplane for no reason. No, but we are gonna bring our places. Where where's the first place you're gonna bring? Penelope potato.

SPEAKER_03

Um, realistically, probably to a drive-thru that sells pup cups. Oh, that's very nice for the dog.

SPEAKER_01

Because you really brought the mood down with uh Penelope Potato's backstory, which is very sad. So good for you guys for rescuing this puppy. Penelope does have a very however, I'm sorry, but you are casting a new evil on this dog. A new evil by naming it Penelope Potato. Okay, well, what is what what?

SPEAKER_03

So here's the thing. So Penelope, we're gonna call her by her middle name Potato.

SPEAKER_01

So why give her a first name? It's like what my parents did to my brother. What's with you?

SPEAKER_03

Well, yeah, but everyone What does she need Penelope for legal documents?

SPEAKER_01

She's a dog.

SPEAKER_03

RJ, you can name your dog whatever you want.

SPEAKER_01

I thank you for that right. I'm just confused. We're gonna call her potato. Yeah, we're gonna be.

SPEAKER_03

We're calling her potato, but actually, what's gonna happen is we're not even gonna say all a potato. I foresee her just being called Tato.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so so so why so why does Penelope have to be?

SPEAKER_03

My dad referred to her as sweet potato the other day.

SPEAKER_01

That's all fine and dandy. Why? That's not the question. Why is Penelope there?

SPEAKER_03

Because we wanted to name her Penelope Potato. I don't understand what you're not grasping here. I just don't understand why the dog needs a full government name. Because she deserves a full government name. She has been starved and abused, RJ. Yes, it's a full government name. She deserves this comfy luxury bed we bought her. I'm not saying she doesn't deserve any of that stuff, Patrick. And she deserves all the loving in the world and all the pup cups and all the walks and treats that she desires.

SPEAKER_01

I agree with you. So when she does something wrong, is that when you're gonna drop Penelope on her?

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Like when your child is being bad, you used her full government name. Yes. Like when I was doing something stupid and I heard my dad scream Stephen Patrick Jones, I knew I did something bad. Right. Penelope potato. See? It carries some weight. Does it though? Yeah. Well, she's this big, carries some weight. Penelope potato. I will say this. So she is a French Bulldog, but like she's a small French Bulldog. She I maximum 25 pounds.

SPEAKER_01

It's also very strange how we keep talking about France in this episode. We have been talking about we've got French Bulldogs. We got French Kia Bod. Okay, well, congratulations on your dog. I don't mean that to come off as a grumpy old man. I just I'm just trying to understand the dynamics here.

SPEAKER_03

Um the dynamic the dynamics are See, we don't even know. Well, the dynamics are we both graduated from college and are now just working, and we found this dog that needed a home, and we looked at it and we were like, oh.

SPEAKER_01

Instead of marrying, having kids, it's yeah, like you're coming home. You're coming home with me. Yeah. Well, that's sweet. How did you find this dog?

SPEAKER_03

Um, a place called Fraternity of the Four Paws. Okay. Um in case any listeners want to. Yeah, they are, yeah, actually, shameless plug. Fraternity of the four paws. Um, they operate in the Chattanooga and like northwest Georgia area. Um, they are strictly rescue only. Um, and they are it it seems, I mean, I'm not really affiliated with them, but as someone who is adopting a dog from them, it seems like they're full all the time with their animals, um just because of how populated that area is. Um, so check them out if you're wanting to get a dog. Yeah, absolutely. Or a cat. Alright. Well, what's next on the docket in the notebook? Um The last thing I have before we get into this interview with Cam is the fact that you're on spring break.

SPEAKER_01

I am on spring break from the little school. It feels nice. Yeah. But um, you know, that sleep schedule doesn't know I'm on spring break, so I'm still up early. But I get to make breakfast. I've been catching up on TV. Good. I got two episodes of Peaky Blinders left. I'm stressed to the max. Really? With that. I can't recommend that show enough. It is great, but that's what everyone says.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but yeah, uh the speaking of the Oscars were um a few days ago. Didn't watch. I didn't watch, but I kept up with it. Yeah. Um I was I was rooting for sinners and it won a lot. And it won a lot. It yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I will say, going back to school, um, one of my students, his name is Raylan. Shout out Raylan. Um, he caught me right before I left for spring break and said that our last episode, he goes, Mr. RJ, last episode, absolute fire. Absolute fire. And it's one of those things where it's I can't tell if he's being sarcastic with me or if he actually thinks that it's fire. Thank you, dude. So um, when this episode drops, I'm going to, and I see him in the hallway. I'm gonna ask him if he's listened.

SPEAKER_03

What's his name again?

SPEAKER_01

Raylan.

SPEAKER_03

Raylan? Raylan. Raylan 6'7, am I right?

SPEAKER_01

And you're gonna be in charge of a dog, dear God have mercy.

SPEAKER_03

Well, um, well, yeah, I think on that note, we can just It's time to dive in, get a behind-the-scenes look at uh Children of Eden. Yep, so we're going to do that right now, but don't go anywhere because after that we will be back before the episode ends.

SPEAKER_01

It's they're not gonna go anywhere. You edit all the clips, you edit all the audio together.

SPEAKER_03

That's true. That's true.

SPEAKER_01

We're not going to a commercial break, you ninkam poop. We've been doing this five times now. Be better. Anyway, we're going to Cam in three, two, one, whoosh.

SPEAKER_03

Cameron Clark, welcome to the cash list. Hi, Cameron. It's good to see you.

SPEAKER_00

Hey everybody.

SPEAKER_03

How are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

I'm just great.

SPEAKER_03

Is this as luxurious as you thought it would be?

SPEAKER_00

It's the green room.

SPEAKER_03

Are you so excited? It's the green room at the Arts Center of Canada County.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

We're so glad you're here. We're gonna ask you some questions. We're not gonna tell you what they are until we ask them. Great.

SPEAKER_01

Patrick, Patrick. Do not interrogate her like you're a police detective trying to solve a murder. This is a f uh friendly environment. Just loosen up. Would you? Just I'm perfectly loose.

SPEAKER_00

Can I just say that I'm upset that I didn't get the red plaid memo? For those of you not viewing with your eyes, they're matching today. And they didn't tell me.

SPEAKER_03

We did well, we didn't plan it either.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't coordinated.

unknown

It was not.

SPEAKER_03

No, it was not, but we got here at the same time and we got out of the car, and we like both pointed at each other like that Spider-Man meme. And we were like, dude, it was something.

SPEAKER_01

Now, Cameron, why don't you tell our avid listeners um what you do here at the Art Center and what you do for this podcast where they would maybe may have heard you before.

SPEAKER_00

Oh boy. Well, on the podcast, I'm the intro. I don't I would recreate it, but I don't remember what I said.

SPEAKER_03

You don't remember what you said?

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't.

SPEAKER_01

You say new Castlist starts in the middle of the city.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, that is I think can we get a live version?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, can we hear the New Castlist is up in five, four? Just kidding. I don't do it. That was why'd you um here it's it was for dramatic effect. Here at the Arts Center of Cannon County, I am the marketing coordinator. So all those epic baller captions you read on social media, that's from the dome. Um it's from the dome. Is your brain?

SPEAKER_02

It's from the dome. Thank you. Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_00

Um and I I do some other stuff. We all just kind of do a lot of stuff over here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. We're very excited to have you to talk about our upcoming show, which you're a part of. Yes. Steven Schwartz's Children of Eden.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Um, Cam, for people who don't know, can you tell us what Children of Eden is about?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Um, thank goodness. As some of you can infer from the title, um it is a biblical story. Um I say that with hesitance because I'll I'll get into that as I speak further, but um it is based on uh two of the bigger stories from Genesis. So you have the creation of Adam and Eve and their sons Cain and Abel, which I won't spoil, but I feel like that's like an ancient spoiler. And then we move on to see Noah and the Ark and the Great Flood. Um, and it's basically through through those stories from the Bible that everybody knows. Um it's a story about family generational trauma and the relationships between parents and children, between brothers, between humans in general. It's a really it's a really fascinating and creative show.

SPEAKER_03

So who do you play in the show?

SPEAKER_00

I am not only a member of the Dance Ensemble and on. Time will in general, but I also am part of the snake. There are five of us. It's a quintet.

SPEAKER_01

You mean the devil?

SPEAKER_00

I am playing the biblical devil at the Art Center of Canning County. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So there's five of you in the snake? Yes. How is that working? And who are your snake mates?

SPEAKER_00

My snake mates. Um, my wonderful snake mates. That would be Caroline Humphreys, Paige Lovell, Dylan Ellis, and Logan Stewart, who are all incredibly talented people.

SPEAKER_01

Um would anyone have seen them in something else?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. You may have recently seen them in Newsies or Sweeney Todd or The Music Man. They're they're return offenders to the stage.

SPEAKER_03

What have we seen you in here before?

SPEAKER_00

Uh most recently I was in The Music Man. You may have also seen me in Sweeney Todd.

SPEAKER_01

You were Maud.

SPEAKER_00

I was Maud in The Music Man. You may have seen me in production in Sweeney Todd.

SPEAKER_01

Let her answer the question for our trick.

SPEAKER_00

In Sweeney Todd. I played Joanna, and also I have been in a production of Guys and Dolls, directed by RJ Palheggy.

SPEAKER_03

I got the horse right here. That's enough.

SPEAKER_01

Um this is very off topic, but uh the listeners were very thrilled with my rendition of my hat exploding on stage during Music Man. Could you could you give us your witness testimony as to my tomfoolery on the stage?

SPEAKER_00

I I can't necessarily because I was also engaging in a mild amount of tomfoolery and was kind of blacked out for some of those scenes because of my own tomfoolery. However, I will say there was one night when RG, it was it our first performance, there was a line that he was supposed to say, but someone messed up his cue line. And so instead of saying the line that he was supposed to say, he went, Yes, that's exactly what he does. And it was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks for remembering that, Cameron. That means a lot.

SPEAKER_00

Of course.

SPEAKER_03

Um, so we want to eventually, while we have you in the studio, um, we want to get to a section that we're calling, it's a new section that we're calling rapid fire questions. Um so after we ask you a few more like show questions, um, we're just gonna like throw some things at you. Um, I'm just letting you know now so you can mentally prepare. Okay. Because RJ and I thought you were the perfect person to do it.

SPEAKER_01

Way to ruin the surprise, Patrick. Anyway, what's the next uh question? Get you like his little notepad where he writes things down.

SPEAKER_03

I forget what to ask if I don't write them down, and RJ is so mean to me about my notes.

SPEAKER_00

I would like to say my testimony as a staff member here that the dynamic that you guys see on the podcast also plays through into real life. It's not a bit. The way that they act to each other is the way that they act in real life.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we are very authentic here at the Art Center at Cannon County. Except when we're on stage, then we're pretending. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um to the notebook. I don't know, what do you got? What Cam.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

This is gonna get really deep. What do you want the audience to take away from this story?

SPEAKER_00

There is a line that is my favorite line in the whole show, and it's at the end of the show, and it's in a song called In the Beginning. And In the Beginning is at the end. Can y'all let me go? And um we say for every moment of our lives is the beginning, and it's kind of hammering in the theme of it's never too late to start over or to try again or to fix something or to heal something that you may have broken. Um and that's just one of one of the many themes that's in the show. But that one is my favorite. So that's what I personally want the audience to leave with. But I think that there's a myriad of things that they'll end up taking away.

SPEAKER_03

That's deep. That's actually kind of beautiful. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, that's why.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not a monkey, I am a tiger.

SPEAKER_03

That's rad. You tell them. Yeah. Um, I will say the music is really good in this show. Also, because we work here, we get to see what the set is coming along to be every single day. The set's really cool. Um obviously, I don't want to like spoil anything about the show, but I think it'd be okay to like talk about what the set is if you want to like tell people about just kind of like what it's what's going on with the set. It's a very cool concept. It's basically a boat on stage that also like one could say it's an arc.

SPEAKER_01

It's an arc. Okay. Patrick, I'm sorry how you asked her a question and then started answering your own questions. Okay. Why don't you let our guest answer the question and be a better interviewer? Yeah, yeah. So, Cameron, tell us about the set and all the cool things about it.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for asking, RJ. I really appreciate that. Um, the set designed by Rachel Otman, who is also in the cast, um is an arc. And we've also got some really cool platforms that um act as a bunch of different levels. The floor is a super cool design that's meant to mimic both like sand and water. Um, because in act one, we're in the Garden of Eden, and act two, we're on the Ark. So they tried to conceptualize something that could be beneficial for both stories that we're telling. Um, and it ended up being really cool. It's a lot of wood graining. They did a lot of really hard work, but it looks cool. I think it looks cool.

SPEAKER_03

I think it looks great. Thanks, Karen. That was a great answer.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you, RJ. It was a great question.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, thanks, Kim. Okay. Back see, and he goes right back to his notebook.

SPEAKER_01

It's where we wrote the rapid fire questions. We're already into rapid fire questions. Well, we didn't come up with any other No, we could talk so much more about Children of Eden. Tell us about your experience working with uh it's a new director to the Arts Center, but he has choreographed things like Alice by Heart, Mr. Holt Kirkendahl. So tell us about uh working with him on this show.

SPEAKER_00

Holt Kirkendall was actually my biggest draw to audition for the show because I had previously worked under him in Alice by Heart, and I think that that man is a genius. He's a genius choreographer, he is an he's a brilliant director, he's so thoughtful and he he really knows what he wants and what he wants you to feel and thus what he wants the audience to feel. Um Holt's choreography is not easy, it is very difficult. And I I definitely have my moments where I'm like, oh brother, I can't do this.

SPEAKER_01

But then I can become Hulk Hogan.

SPEAKER_00

But then, but then I can do it. And he he pushes you in a way that's gentle, but it's still like you can do this, try it again. Um, and he's very creative, he has he's got these wild pictures in his brain that somehow he can translate onto the stage in a way that I would never be able to do and that I've never seen anybody else do. Um and so if you if you're itching to see something that's like brand new and creative and something you've never seen before, see a Holt Kirk and Doll show. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

What has been the hardest uh dance move for you in this one that he's uh thrown at you? Does it have does it have to do with the snake?

SPEAKER_00

No, the snake is the snake is not as hard as some of the others. I will say there is a moment in the show, and I think I can speak for the whole cast. It is it's maybe the hardest, um, in which the dance ensemble is playing a ring of stones. And so he has us in a series of formations in which we are the stones, I think like a stone henge, but it's made out of humans, and so we've got people in the air, people like holding planks, and it's for about two and a half minutes.

SPEAKER_03

Um just holding people in the air for like two and a half minutes. Yes. Oh Lord.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's like a CrossFit class.

SPEAKER_00

And if you guys stay tuned, Patrick and I are gonna hold RJ in the air for two and a half minutes at the end of the episode.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

In the tiny green room.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. I do have a question. So all three of us, you're the first guest we've had on that actually works here with us. Um, I would say out of the people who work here, you are the one who probably d does the most amount of shows out of the people who work here. What is that like? Like you you you work here and and like I know that you love it. I know that you have a great time. Um these shows are awesome. But like, can you tell us like what it's like to kind of just like being an employee here that also like comes back here to do the shows for fun?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I don't know what my house looks like anymore because I'm not there. However, I do consider this place my home. But yeah, I come into work, I go home for 30 minutes, and then I come back here. But I wouldn't have it any other way. And it's interesting because you get to see both sides of the coin, um, the volunteer side and the staff member side, and they are wildly different. You know, when I come back here at night, I am a volunteer and it's my personal time and I'm doing it for fun. Um, and then I clock in for work and I don't have any fun at all, and I'm miserable. I'm kidding. That's not true. I'm joking. Oh, I'm joking. It's the best job ever.

SPEAKER_01

I was actually in a and you know why it's the best job?

SPEAKER_03

You know why it's the best job ever?

SPEAKER_00

If you say it's because y'all work here. Well, then I'll just say nothing, then because it's the best job ever because Beth McCrary is in charge of us, and she is, as the kids would say, the goat.

SPEAKER_03

She is the goat.

SPEAKER_01

She is the goat.

SPEAKER_03

She is the goat. Beth, you're the goat.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, Patrick, I'm really proud of you for thinking of a question um that you didn't have to look in your notebook for. Thank you, Argentina.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks. I was hoping you'd pick up on that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I want to jump back to Children of Eden, though. Um, Cameron, tell us about who else is in the show and what it's like working with them. I know you mentioned some people like pretty big cast. Yeah, pretty big cast. You mentioned your snake mates. Yes. Um, but who else is out there playing along with you guys?

SPEAKER_00

We have the brilliant Adam Pingle playing father, who is God in the show. And he's got the most epic God beard of all time, by the way. If you need a single reason to see the show, it's the beard. Um he he's brilliant, and I love watching the choices that he makes and how how quickly he snaps into character. Um, we've also got Darcy Pingle, who is playing Eve, and Tucker Young, who's playing Adam. They are both really, really fun to watch because Adam and Eve kind of have like a childlike innocence about them when they're first created, and then you see them go on the journey of discovering their humanity. And they also return in act two to play Noah and Mama Noah. Um I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_01

Mama Noah? Is that your name in it?

SPEAKER_00

Oh cool. Um, and then we've got Wesley Cox and Hampton Phillips playing Kane and Abel, who are both wonderful. Um, they bring a lot of life to those characters. Um, and uh I could go on and on. I could list every single person in the show. Um, but I've I see your timer right here on your lap.

SPEAKER_01

So don't worry about the timer. I won't. Um, would you where would you rank this cast? Because you, as we stated, you do a lot of shows here. Where would you rank this cast among all the casts you've worked with?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, this one is like it it doesn't get much better than this one. And I'm not just glazing because they're listening, like it it doesn't get better than that. Hopefully they're listening.

SPEAKER_02

Are they listening? They better be listening. You will. Please listen. Please listen.

SPEAKER_00

No, it doesn't get better than this. This is a collaborative effort from everybody. Everyone in the show really cares about the art that's being made. Um, and they've created a really safe and fun environment, and everyone connected super quickly. Um, so that I guess my ranking would be top tier.

SPEAKER_01

That's great.

SPEAKER_02

Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Nice. See, and that could happen to you if you auditioned for a show at the Art Center of Cannon County.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. RJ. Patrick. Can we please get into rapid fire questions? I think it's time for the rapid fire questions. Okay, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_01

All right. How this works, Cameron, is uh Patrick and I came up with some rapid fire questions. I think there's what, five, six?

SPEAKER_00

Like six or seven.

SPEAKER_01

Stop it.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but there's six. There's six. We're gonna go through them fast, but also if there's one we want to fixate on.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna fixate on the right. We deserve we reserve the right to fixate on the just like think about it like conservatory. Um, because for those of you who don't know, Cameron always helps me with conservatory. Just think about it as an icebreaker in conservatory. Say the first thing that comes to your head, and we will uh follow up if need be. All right. Very excited for this brand new segment.

SPEAKER_00

My heart is racing.

unknown

Okay, hold on.

SPEAKER_03

Sorry, I was adjusting my volume. We're still having the we're still using the bad mixer. So if you are listening and you have any fundraising ideas, email us castless at artscentrfcc.com. Okay. Or if you just want to donate. Or if you just want to donate. On to the game. That would be great. Okay. Question number one. You've, Cameron, have been in shows with both Patrick and RJ. Who's the better scene partner? Patrick or RJ?

SPEAKER_00

I've never been in a scene with RJ. So yes, I have. Do I have to answer this?

SPEAKER_03

Who's the better scene partner, Patrick or RJ? You cannot say neither or both.

SPEAKER_00

RJ.

SPEAKER_03

Will, do you think question number two? Do you think that when RJ and Patrick canoe down the river, do you think we will make it all the way to Walter Hill?

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely not. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Question number three. What's your sign?

SPEAKER_00

Jim and I.

SPEAKER_03

I'm a Capricorn. Are you what are you are aren't there like other like like rising and like I don't know. Like Moon. I just know that I'm a Capricorn. What are you, RJ? What's your sign?

SPEAKER_01

I'm born in September, so what's that?

SPEAKER_00

Girl, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

What TV show would you want to live in?

SPEAKER_00

Twin Peaks. Really? Yes. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

One item you can't live without.

SPEAKER_00

Water?

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's everybody. More personal.

SPEAKER_03

No, like what's an item specifically to Cam that Cam cannot live without?

SPEAKER_00

Um. Uh I don't know. My cat? Is she an item?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Do you view her as an object?

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm that's my final answer. My cat.

SPEAKER_03

Uh last question. Why are you obsessed with Paul Dano?

SPEAKER_01

Go.

SPEAKER_00

Paul Dano is a brilliant actor. Perhaps the best of our generation.

SPEAKER_02

Who is Paul Dano?

SPEAKER_00

Paul Dano is what do you mean who is Paul Dano? Dano.

SPEAKER_03

How dare you? I don't know who Paul Dano is.

SPEAKER_00

Paul Dano, yes, you do. Are you kidding? Paul Dano is a brilliant actor, and he is my favorite actor, and I just really like his work.

SPEAKER_03

What has he been in?

SPEAKER_00

He was the Riddler in The Batman. Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine? No. Oh, you gotta watch that. Um, he played Brian Wilson in Love and Mercy. The Beach Boys movie. Beach Boys Biopic.

SPEAKER_01

He was in There Will Be Blood.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yes, he was in There Will Be Blood. I can't believe we're talking about the podcast.

SPEAKER_03

I was telling RJ yesterday that I need to make a letterbox account. Yeah, you do. So I can. Are you because I know RJ does it, but like are you like one of the people that like when you watch a movie, you like give it like a review like on Letterboxd?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's that's the point of having the app, Patrick. Okay. Let's talk about back to Children of Eden. Uh Cameron, tell everyone when the show is, how they can get tickets. Tell them why they should come see it.

SPEAKER_00

The show opens on March 27th and runs through April. April twelfth. April twelfth. Um, weekends, not on Easter. Not on East. Um, and you can get tickets by visiting ArtsCenterofcc.com slash tickets, or you can call us during our business hours at 615-563-2787.

SPEAKER_03

And if they call, they might even get to talk to you. Well, yes. Yep. Just a reminder tickets are $17 for adults, children and seniors are $15. Any other comments?

SPEAKER_01

Camp, thanks so much for being on the podcast. Guys, you're done. Thanks.

SPEAKER_03

We're definitely bringing you back. Oh joy. Besides RJ and I, you are the first employee to be on it.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Maybe next time they'll let me match with them as well.

SPEAKER_03

We really didn't plan it. We could talk about that later. I but it would like if we did like holiday episodes, it would be nice to do like like holiday themed like Patrick.

SPEAKER_01

These are off podcast conversations.

SPEAKER_03

No, they're not.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Cam, thanks again for being on the show.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you guys so much.

SPEAKER_03

Is there anything else you want to say before you leave?

SPEAKER_00

Get tickets to Children of Eden. That is all.

SPEAKER_03

Boring. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And that's coming from Patrick Bang. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

All right. Bye, Cam.

SPEAKER_00

Bye.

SPEAKER_03

So nice to have Cameron on. Thank you so much, Cam. I really like that new rapid fire question. I think it's going to become a recurrence. I kind of want to do that for every single guest.

SPEAKER_01

Every guest is going to get uh rapid fire questions. Yep. But yeah.

SPEAKER_03

As you can see, uh Children of Eden is going to be it's going to be a really good show. I cannot wait to see. It's going to be a really good show. So please see it. Um I do foresee it being one that has the potential to sell out. Yeah. Um, and I really do mean that.

SPEAKER_01

So I would I would go ahead and it's gonna be very, very visually pleasing. I can't I can't wait to see what Holt has come up with.

SPEAKER_03

I would go ahead and hop on those tickets uh March 27th through April 12th. Yeah. Uh reminder no show on Easter, but we have uh shows the Friday and Saturday before. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's uh a lot going on here. I know never a dull moment. I know. So sign up for those art classes, get your tickets, come audition, find your inner Dolly Parton. Yep. This might be the last time we tell people to find their inner Dolly Parton. I don't know. No, we do we have another episode before auditions?

SPEAKER_03

Awesome. Uh when you tune in next time, we'll still be working on that dragon. Yes, we will. We'll have a dragon update. Yeah, we will have a dragon update.

SPEAKER_01

And I think we may have a new guest to tell us all about how he came up with his ideas for children.

SPEAKER_03

Um more time, just because I have no shame. Uh the the mixer we're using for our our guests, um, it is not the best mixer. And so if anyone has any ideas or wants to donate to the new mixer fund, it is a tax write-off.

SPEAKER_01

Because you're donating to a nonprofit.

SPEAKER_03

It is. It is. So I don't know. That's just my last little shameless plug.

SPEAKER_01

Well, thanks you all for sticking around for five episodes. Five episodes? Five episodes.

SPEAKER_03

That's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna lie. I think we're doing a great job. I have five episodes in. I know I'm doing a great job. You're doing pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

Me and Paul Bunyan just five episodes in. I I will say. I I I we say this every time. I say it every time, but I'm surprised we got this far.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I can I can sense that. I'm not surprised that we've gotten this far. I'm surprised we've pulled off that we've now had three guests on the show. Yeah. With another one.

SPEAKER_03

With another one hooked on the way. Yeah. Well, we do appreciate y'all listening. It really does mean a lot. Um, so thank you. We appreciate it. In the meantime, this has been the cast list. I'm Patrick.
