Online feuds have been buzziing this past week; Alix vs Alex; Amanda and West vs. Everybody; and Justin Bieber vs. Beyonce? Let's weigh in.
Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Go Get Hers. I am getting over some type of cold, or I don't know, dude. The weather in Chicago has been so crazy. Like it's been up and down, and it's been 70 degrees, 20 degrees, some fog, some wind, a thunderstorm here, some snow there. Like, and I'm I wish I was exaggerating and being dramatic, but that it literally has been so up and down and back and forth. And I also live in one of those like two-pipe um apartment buildings. Like we can control our temperature in our apartment, but once they turn it over to heat or turn it over to air, they can't turn it back over because it takes too long. They did before, and I've complained before, but anyways, so last week I had to have like my balcony door open all the time, and now my apartment is dusty as hell, and and it's just it's been a lot. And I and I think my allergies or sinuses have just been a little bit not cooperating or is have gotten triggered by it. And then two, as soon as it's hot, I'm not wearing a coat anymore. Like I'm so over the coats. And then two, I was around a baby last week, like which I love babies. This is no shade to the baby, but we all know babies have a lot of germs, and he kept handing me his pacifier, and so it's okay, but it's all worth it, honestly. Like, I feel like I needed one good sickness to like get all of the things out of me, and then maybe I'll just be healthy for the rest of the year. That's I'm trying to be a glass half full type of gal um in Q2. So, anyways, there has been a lot going on on the internet. I feel like low-key, like this episode is just gonna be very pop culture based, but I'll give a little bit of context if you're not like online or don't understand the nuance. But like again, what did I say last week? As soon as some shit goes down, I post the episode. Like it's already done, recorded, dusted. Like, do I have to get up at one o'clock in the morning just to make sure nothing goes on before I post? Like, I swear to God, it's like clockwork. You know how out of touch that makes me to a degree? Like, it makes you feel like I'm so behind. People are like, yeah, girl, we've been talking about this for a week, like you're late. But it's like, no, but I'm not late. I'm I'm on time for me. Like, I try to to wait until the last second. There's only so much that a gal can do. So with that being said, last Monday, Alex Earl versus Alex Cooper. I'm sure before I even really get into it, you guys will know where I stand in this particular fight. Um, because I've alluded to them before. I have said that Alex Cooper is been was my um inspiration for starting the podcast. And I'm just a really direct person, so I don't like people who hide behind their phones and just like subtweet and shit and don't actually say what beef is, you know? And um what's funny is that my current um my current phrase right now is what's what's their what's the beef? Because my mom, I sent her a TikTok of this girl being like, You boomers, like you guys are coming about them houses, you know, you guys trying to charge all this money for houses, like you guys are gonna die one day. Like we're coming, we're coming to take your houses. And I sent it to her because I tell her all the time, I'm like, you guys are literally the problem with the world. You guys have like effed us in so many different ways, and she disagrees, but that's okay. I know I'm right. I know anyone else agrees. And so I started the TikTok and she was like, and all she said back was, What's her beef? And it just it just applies to so many things because it's just like, are people okay? I say that all the time. It's always something. Are people okay? What's their beef? It just seems like everyone has an attitude all the time. And I'm a Leo son, I'm a Libra rising in a Gemini moon. Okay. When I want to have an attitude, I have an attitude. When I have an attitude, I have an attitude. I can really tap into my attitude if you want me to. And so sometimes when people like, I'm like, what's wrong? You know, dig deep. What's wrong? Like, if I there and there's a lot going on in my life that I don't talk about on the podcast for obvious reasons, but like, so if I don't have an attitude, this is a very overgeneralized statement, but it's just like you bitches need to find some a sliver of happiness, something. Try. I mean, for for God's sake, for every for every single person involved, I need you guys to get it together because I'm just like, when because when I lose it, when I start popping off, is when shit's gonna hit the fan. Okay. So, anyways, back to Alex and Alex. Backstory. Alex Cooper, founder of Call Her Daddy. She started Call Her Daddy in 2018. She used to have a co-host named Sophia, if you didn't know, and they had a falling out and then kept Alex in 2020, and then Alex became the sole person of Call Her Daddy. Now, a lot of people have animosity towards Alex because she they said they don't like how Sophia treated how she treated Sophia. Sophia fucked herself, okay? I just want to get that out the way. And Sophia's coming out with a book. I will read it, maybe, and then return it because I I would like to know what she has to say in her side of the her side of the story. But Sophia fucked herself. And this is my understanding of the situation, okay? Is that Sophia and Alex both were obviously co-hosts, but Sophia, but Alex was doing all the editing. She was putting in most of like the hard labor of the podcast. And as someone that now does their own editing, like I know how much work that takes. And not to say, not to say Sophia wasn't contributing anything, because Sophia did kind of contribute a lot of stuff to the subject matter of call her daddy. I will give her her props. You know me. I am fair. I am a fair judgment person. I'm not just like one size fits all. I actually, despite my Zodiac sign being a Leo, I'm actually loyal to none. I'm a right versus wrong person. Neither you're right or you're right, or you're wrong or you're wrong. And there's a lot of nuance between that, and there's a lot of gray. I don't believe in black and white anymore, and that's just where I am. And I think that is like literally the best mindset you can ever be in. I'm not jaded or guided by who I'm sticking up for or who I like more or whatever. I'm always just going to say what's right and what's wrong, and that's the end of the story. So Sophia did contribute a lot of subject matter to the podcast. She's actually the one that came up with the like I am unwell thing that then Alex ran with, which I think that's kind of bogus, but like it is technically now the property of call her daddy. So there's a whole IP behind it. There's a whole IP behind the whole entire idea. So Alex and Sophia got in a tiff because or kind of got in a tiff with Barstool. So they were owned, they were under Barstool, which was used to be owned by Dave Portnoy. They were making$500,000 a year. And they were also getting like part of the sales from their merch. And back then their merch was like selling like hotcakes. Okay. I even have a Caller Daddy hat hat. One of my friends got it for me. Like they had really cute, cute stuff. And they felt like they weren't making it enough. They felt like because of how big Call Her Daddy had gotten, they should be making more money. So they started to shop around the podcast and find out like how much money they could get paid based on the industry standard. Mind you, at the time, Sophia Franklin was dating um the head of like HBO Sports or something. And so he was like also helping them shop around, giving them advice, like, yeah, you guys should be making way more. You're not mean the industry standard, not me in the industry standard, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So Dave Portnoy found out found out about it, the owner of Barstool, said something to Alex and Sophia. They had a meeting on the rooftop, I guess, at Dave's apartment. And, you know, and Dave was like, look, for one, you guys make a lot. Like, I don't understand the problem, but you know what? Like, I would hate for you guys to shop around. And this is the thing about IP. This is what's really important. It's kind of like masters with music. Okay. A lot of artists don't own their own masters. And you have to think about it too, like Taylor Swift. She didn't own her masters, so she recorded all her stuff. So all that old music, that's the reason why people were so down with listening to her music and her re-records, her Taylor's versions, because they knew that she wasn't getting the money from it. She wasn't getting anything out of that. So that's the same look with the IP. If you're under a network and they own the IP, you can't take the IP with you. Like that is property of the network. And so the fact that they were shopping around, call her daddy, quote unquote, they would have had to start a whole nother show. Okay. So they were like, okay, with the fact that like they're like, our fans will come with us, but if we're making more money, we'll put in more work, we'll rename the show. We have to make new jokes. Like, call her daddy, we'll just like die. Okay. And it'll be a new era for us. So they were willing to do that. Okay. And I guess they had a three-year contract. So Dave was like, look, if you guys fulfill your one last year of your three-year contract, because they were still in the first year of their contract, first three years of their contract. They only had a year left. They were like, if you stay through the year, I will give you the IP and we can cut ties. Okay. Which honestly, again, in IP world, that is the only route you should be going. Because again, they would have not been able to use any of the things that they said in the previous podcast in Caller Daddy if they were to start over, because all that would have belonged to Barstool. It would have been a loss and it would have been make no sense. It's only a year. You guys already make$500,000 a year. What more do you like? What more do you want? And you make a lot of sales. So like sticking it out for one year to then go on to do something else is literally like a no-brainer. Okay. Alex, her being the businesswoman that she is, her seeing the amount of work should they would have had to do, and them and him offering the IP, put her into a different perspective of being like, yeah, that's the only way to go. Sophia, on the other hand, kept taking the advice of her ex-boyfriend and kept moving the goal post, kept saying, no, but we still need more money. We still like kept trying to negotiate shit. Dave was like, look, there's no negotiation. This is the deal. And so Alex said to Sophia, either we take the deal or I take the deal. Which one do you want? She still kept moving the goalposts. So Alex took the deal, as she should have. Sophia Franklin took bad advice from her ex-boyfriend and she fucked herself. And guess what? At the end of the day, they both got what they wanted. Alex got called her daddy, and Sophia got her own show and had to start over. I mean, honestly, that's what happened. So the fact that everyone's like, I don't like how she treated Sophia, Sophia fucked herself. The lack of accountability that comes from people and like the lack of self-awareness like really blows my mind. I am the accountability police. I'm literally gonna be a police officer for Halloween this year and I'm gonna put accountability on the back because I am accountability police. If you cannot be accountable for your own actions, the fact that you have autonomy and the fact that you have a working brain and a decision-making brain and a frontal lobe that helps you make those decisions. If you can't put those two things, those things together and take account accountability for your own actions, especially when things don't work out your way, then you I have nothing for you and no one feels bad for you. And that's exactly what happened. And so I hate when people say, Oh, Alex fucked up. No, Alex made a business decision, and I admire her for that. Business decisions sometimes are necessary in order to get what you want. And then guess what? Alex went on to do Caller Daddy for another year, and then that's when she signed that$60 million deal at Spotify. I don't think that would have come into fruition if she wouldn't have taken that deal that Dave gave her. If she would have started over, they would have set themselves back. Some people would have fallen off. Some people are like, oh, I didn't know they, I thought Caller Daddy ended. I didn't know they started a new thing. Like, that wouldn't have made any sense when Call Her Daddy All of Soul Two is such an already good name. You know, like there's so much um conversation that's happening around Caller Daddy. Like sometimes you do need to rebrand, but you need to be prepared for the fallout that comes with rebranding. And if you don't have to do that, why would you take that deal? You know what I mean? Like, why would you work harder and not smarter? And that is exactly what happened. So now Alex Cooper has made her own network to where she now has a bar stool, her version of bar stool called Unwell. And that's what I'm saying is that Sophia Franklin was the one that said, I am unwell, and she named all her shit on Unwell. She even has a drink calling Unwell. And I do think that's bogus, but again, whatever. But that is the number one thing that is associated with the brand. So I get why she went with that, but she technically does own it. And that is the thing about IP. Also, too, I took an IP class in my during my master's program. So I get all this. Like IP is is everything. So, anyways, and IP stands for intellectual property, by the way. If you didn't know, so not to, I'm not trying to be like condescending. I'm just saying, like, in case you didn't know, you're like, what the fuck are you talking about? So now Alex Cooper creates unwell and Alex Earl comes on the scene. I think this is like end of 2023, 2022, whatever, comes on the scene. And she everyone and she loves Caller Daddy because they're both from New Jersey. And as one in college does, learn a lot from Alex Cooper. And um, she was telling, you know, was hoping to go on Call Her Daddy. So Alex saw the opportunity and put Alex on Call Her Daddy. And then Alex signed Alex, Alex Cooper signed Alex Earl to her network with her own podcast called Hot Mess. So, you know, Unwell at the time was like, I think it was when Alex Cooper to had just started her tour. Like, I went to her show at the Chicago Theater, like, did a podcast live show. She had different guests come out of each place. Alex Earl was actually the one person at Chicago in Chicago. And I just have never been a fan of Alex Earle. Like I said, I I can admire what she sometimes brings to the internet. I liked her better in college to show girls, especially too when she was coming up, how she was balancing, going out, hanging out with her friends and her business side. I thought that was really admirable. And I love a bitch, I love watching bitches work hard. Like that is like my, you know, I I I like to admire hardworking people. So so yeah, they were they were having a lot of appearances together. Like she was definitely monopolizing off of Alex Earl. Alex Cooper was, because she knew the powerhouse and the exposure that she brought her. But at the same time, Alex Earl didn't need that. She was becoming her own brand and her own powerhouse herself that she really didn't need Alex Cooper. She really should have like kind of just not even went the podcast route, anyways, because she was already, because her podcast was kind of boring. Like she was already making a lot of video videos and story times online. So she really didn't need it. So, anyways, after a while though, like Alex Cooper and Alex Earl just weren't seen together anymore. Um, episodes of Hot Mess stopped coming out, and everyone speculated and wondered what was going on. And so everyone was like, What's the beef? you know, for the period of time. But in the meantime, Alex Earl is retweeting stuff, commenting on people's things, like being being very passive, aggressive online, then Alex Cooper hasn't set up Pete. She hasn't alluded to anything, she hasn't liked anything. She's just rolling on and signing other people to her network and just moving forward. So someone made a video, someone on Bravo made a video. I don't know who this lady was, and said that Alex Cooper was like the ambulance chaser of women who are going through things because like someone will be like going through a hard time and then Alex will have them on the podcast. And that's really her job is to give these people a platform to speak their truth. Um, so I the ambulance chaser analogy is funny, but I don't agree, and that's okay. But a lot of people ran with it, and Alex Earl reposted that post. So, again, with the passive aggressiveness, like you're making your stance on her um vary outwardly by being passive aggressive, but you won't actually say what the fucking problem was. Like, like is like you refuse to talk about it, which is stupid. Alex Cooper gets online and she's like, yo, what's good? Like, what is the problem? What is the beef? What is what is your issue with me? We don't have you don't have an NDA. You can say what you want to say. Let the people know the truth. But basically, what Alex Cooper was saying is that there actually is no beef, and you're just like making the story bigger than it needs to be, just to fit your own narrative, and I'm kind of tired of it. So, like, just say what you have to say and let's squash this so like people can finally know and stop speculating. And she tagged Alex Earl in the caption, and then Alex Earl, like, you know, typed in like, okay, on it or something. And it's been a week and it's been crickets, and she hasn't said anything. So this is my opinion about the situation and um why I think so many Gen Zs and so many people are behind Alex Earl, and why so many black women are behind Alex Cooper. Alex Earl stands for nothing, never st stood for anything. She's never made it public what her actual stances are. Tells me that she doesn't care who she's associated with. Alex Cooper, on the other hand, we all know that Kamala Harris was on Caller Daddy. She talks a lot about um abortion rights and and is very public about her stance about um on her political views. And also too, like, I love a direct girl. The passive aggressiveness does not go with me. I I think it is like some white girl um right of passage to be passive aggressive and to be indirect. I didn't grow up that way. I didn't grow up that way, and I grew up in a very diverse area. I didn't grow up that way. I remember one time I subtweeted a girl in college or in high school, and because I was talking about how she was wearing like off-brand uggs because she worked at Justice and she was wearing some off-brand ugs and her Ugs were kind of leaning in the back. And I did subtweet her. And I think when I got out of my next class, she was outside my class, she was like, Elise, why would you tweet that about me? Mind you, I never said her name, but she knew I was talking about her. And that's okay. I appreciate the directness. I was like, Can you get away from me? And it was mean at the time. Um, but like I said, I like the direct direct directiveness. Um, and then too, like my first day of senior year in high school, this girl, oh my god, no, I hate it. This girl, she used to like write notes and stuff to my boyfriend at the time, and she would like I was I was on palms, and she would be like, Oh, you're she would like write him notes and be like, Oh yeah, your girlfriend's a cheerleader. You know I'm not no fucking cheerleader, bitch. Don't ever one write notes to my boyfriend, B, try to demean me by saying I'm a cheerleader because there was like a big riff between the cheerleaders and the palm girls. Okay, so like that's why I'm like, I was a cheerleader in um like middle school, but loved palms in high school. And she would like write him notes and then fold them up in these like little origami things and then give it to him, and then he would like get out of class and hand them to me. And I don't think he's doing origami in his like spare time. So like I don't think he ever read that. Um, he was like, Oh, your girl wrote you a note. And I'm like, why are you write my boyfriend a note notes? Like when he is dating me, like you weird girl. Anyways, so the first day of high school, we're sitting at the same lunch table as one does because we're like in the same group, we don't really talk. We sit on, I walk past her, sit on the lunch table a little bit far from her. I look at my phone, she tweets, at least irritates the fuck out of me. I'm like, I literally look down the table. I said, yo, if you have something to say, say it. What's the problem? I irritate you how because I how because I walked past you. Do you have nothing to say? Like, I'm direct. I'm a very direct person. I don't do passive aggressiveness. If I have a problem with someone, I say it and I'll tell you the problem, what my problem is with you, and I'll tell you how to fix it, and I'll tell you what you did pissed me off. I don't do passive aggressiveness. I'm too old, especially now. That was me at 18 or 17. I'm 31 now. I ain't doing passive aggressive. I'm I'm not doing soft launches, I'm not doing anything. Okay. So I appreciate Alex Cooper being like, yo, what? But the thing is about the Gen Zs, they're like, well, well, Alex, why don't you say it? Because the whole point is that one girl is passive aggressive and the other girl isn't. She got her, she came at her direct. It's not her, it's it's not her story to tell. Because she's like, I I don't have any problem with you. I haven't said anything about you. We have I have no beef with you, but you apparently have beef with me. So why don't you tell everyone, why don't you share with the class what the beef is? And so the reason I think Gen Z's just can't seem to wrap their little teeny tiny brains around it, and yes, I have animosity towards Gen Z's and I can't stand them because they also stand for nothing, and they also have no self-identity. Their self-identity is the stuff that we as millennials do, and then they try to make fun of us, but they're like, Oh, I wore this Vincius Tom Hardy um thing. You mean the one that I donated two weeks ago? Like, what are you guys talking about? Or they're like, they'll they'll act like they re- they invented something that's been around like for forever. It's so bogus. Like them being like, oh, I have um a digital camera. Do you know how to work it? Yeah, because digital cameras came out with us, okay? Anyways, um, the reason why I think they just can't seem to comprehend is because they've been able to hide behind their phones the same all this time. Like they had a very big period of time where they weren't in school. And anything that was going on online, people were just like blasting it on social media. They also had to be remote. So like they didn't have any actual direction or or have to be confrontational with people. And I think they got used to that. So they're used to hiding behind their phones, they're used to being chronically online. And so that just to me signifies why they just like cannot grasp it. So, anyways, Alex Earl to me is a loser. I've never liked her. Again, I don't like a girl that doesn't stand for anything. Wow, I'm sorry that that was such a long story, but I had to give the context for people like that don't really know. And also, one of my friends just asked me to explain it to her. So I feel like that was like needed. Anyways, so now let's circle back to the Amanda and the West of it all. Okay. If you're in a summer house in the drama, Amanda and West that I've talked about in the past two weeks are we're seen at a Yankees game together. Mind you, Amanda used to be married and used to never be seen out with her husband at the time. So it's like, why are you going to a baseball game with your um boyfriend that used to be your ex's, your best friend's ex, and now you're like sitting in the stands and like kissing him and stuff. And she literally was like mounting her, like, act like you like me to him. Which I don't see them lasting at all. She's too emotionally insecure for me and for him, like he already has commitment issues, and so I don't. See him being able to handle like her always needing validation while they're also getting like scorched by the by the world, you know? Like it should have really been just like a very brisk thing. Like after Sierra found out she should have been on her hands and knees begging that that wasn't the case, and then she should have just like let him go and been like, Look, I'm so sorry. Like it was just a lapse in judgment. Like he's not worth it. I don't want to get scrutinized and stuff. And I think it would have gone over so much better. But the fact that she's trying to double down and send on a joint statement and whatever is really bogus. Um, Amanda and West, for one, again, West is stinky looking to me, and he has like small hands, and small hands really like give me the ick. And so, especially from like a man, and so I just really don't like them at all. I think again, I think Amanda is lazy, and I think that like she lacks originality because only a bitch that's unoriginal can never go and date someone else's ex. Also, too, mind you, they went to the Yankees game and they were like in the noseblades. They went to the Yankees game on the day that Sierra had a glamour magazine come out, cover come out, or her glamour magazine cover come out. So I just feel like they did that just to like try to upstage her day. And so that's just that that's just another thing. Like they're ch they're childish. And someone did say something is that I do think that Wes kind of tried to get her lick back on Sierra because you know, after people showed, like as much as kickback and scrutiny she was getting for like being a black woman and dating a white guy, which I think is also like a whole conversation in itself. Um, as much as scrutiny and backlash she was getting out of that, I think Wes was also getting some backlash and saying like he was racist and people like calling him out for like mistreating the black woman. And I think that he expected Sarah to defend him and have his back more. And when she didn't, I think he started to resent her and not really care about his feelings. I felt like he kept trying to have to prove, kept having to prove something to her and to the world. And and I've said this before, resentment is a terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, literally the most terrible emotion you can feel towards someone because it is 100% on someone else's behavior changing. And I don't believe that someone else's behavior can change unless they want to, or unless they're aware of it. And again, they want to. Like there has to be a lot of action behind it. And I tell people this all the time. Like, I'm a very um, because I think I have a science background, I am a very like evidence-based person. Like, I have opinions about people, and then I study them to see whether or not they either what their actions support or contrast my opinion on them. So like her opinion of West, you know, she was seeing if whether or not it either supported, and she's a nurse, she was a nurse. So like she may think the same as me. She was trying to see whether or not like he either met what he said and his actions followed, or if he was doing the opposite. And it seemed like he always did the opposite, especially after last week's episode. But I just want to say something. And I don't think a lot of people agree with me, and that is okay. But I think that it is a red flag. And maybe I have said this before, but I do think it is a red flag when men or when your friends want to be best friends with your husband or your significant other or whatever. And that is kind of why I don't really believe in friend groups. Because there's when there's a friend group happening, there's a lot of overlap. They're in proximity to people is important. I haven't met like two of my friends' partners, and I don't care to. I'll meet them at the wedding. That could be the first time. I don't need to have a relationship with them. I don't need to have a friendship with them. Um, even like one of my like close friends, her husband, I hang out with him like every once in a while, but like, why is he around? You know, like I just think there's a certain certain time and a certain age that unless like the men, unless you guys are in a friend group, you're going to weddings, you're going, you're going on double dates, whatever. There's no reason why your husband should actually be around when you're with your girls or your boyfriend. Why is your boyfriend always around? Why do you care for your boyfriend and your best friend to have a close relationship? Because you know what? Nine times out of ten, when some shady shit goes on, it's the best friend. Is it not? Have we not seen this film before? Seriously. I think that when my friends acquire a man, that man is like a subsidiary of my friend. Like my friend is the parent company and the boyfriend is the subsidiary. And I don't really care to interact with the subsidiary. They're they're below the parent organization. You know what I mean? They're below the parent company. So why do I care to engage if I want to go for the gusto? If I want to, if I my relationship is to the parent company, I don't care about the people under it. Really, unless it's their kids. Their kids is something different. But their men, no, no, no, no, and no. I think it literally is a red flag when friends are so keen on oh, I want to meet him, I want to meet him, I want to meet him. Why? Why? Why? Why do you care so much? And maybe I'm just too passive that I truly just don't care about what other people are doing, and like I just like stay in my own lane. And that's not to say I don't want to meet them. I do want to meet them, but I keep them at arm's length. You don't need to have my number, I don't need to have your number. Don't put us in a group chat. Proximity is the issue. If you lack, if they lack proximity, shit like this doesn't happen. You know what I'm saying? I'm trying to say it in a way that's not like you're literally crazy, but maybe I am crazy. But like there are a lot of men, or maybe two, like the two, my two most recent exes or whatever, were during um like COVID and a little bit after, whatever. So like they didn't really get to meet them anyways, and I didn't care to. And I but I've always said this too, is that other people's opinions and other people's like integr your friends' integration, it's kind of how your relationships start to like fizzle and and cause problems because people have too many opinions. And then you start having opinions, and those those opinions persuade. Like, I used to say this all the time. I could like go my whole entire relationship and not meet my stampfellers' parents, friends. I don't really care about that, to be honest. Like, I think it says a lot about whether or not they like you if they like introduce the idea. But there have been times I've been like, no, I'm okay. Do you want to go to this party with me and my friends? No, I'm good. I'll stay at home. You come home drunk, and obviously, that's okay. Like, and again, and maybe I'm weird. I am in the minority, and that is okay. I've been a minority in multiple things, that's okay. But I just feel like this would have never happened I mean, mind you, they're on a show, so like whatever. But the proximity of it all is is my issue. And yeah, I just I just don't care to get to know or be close with my friends, significant others, and I and I don't think that that should be a prerequisite of someone being in someone else's life um and them being together, truthfully. That's just my opinion, though. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger. So, guys, Justin Bieber this weekend. I did set an alarm. I went to bed at like 10 o'clock and I set an alarm to wake up at 1.30 so I could watch his set. And I'm so glad I did. And the Billy Eilish of it all, okay. Also, too. There's a lot of discourse actually going on between Justin Bieber and his Coachella set. And the discourse is that he got paid 10 million and Beyonce got paid 8 million. And mind you, Beyonce showed her ass. And by that I mean like she put on a good ass show. Like Beyonce, one thing you can't take from her is she's a great performer. I love watching her perform, but I'm not, I don't consider myself a Beyonce fan. A lot of people have a problem with that. That is okay. I don't think Beyonce stands for really anything, anyways. I think if you expect white people to stick up for black people, then like at least you should expect black people to stick up, stick up for black people and stand for something. And so the for the fact that like there, I think there are a lot of people of the black community who expect, you know, give a pass to Beyonce because she's Beyonce. But what does she get on here and say or stand for or do? Like, really? What money does she donate to anything? Because it seemed like to me, she um kind of like all she cares about is the money. You know what I mean? And so, anyways, Justin Bieber got paid 10 million for his two sets at Coachella, five million each weekend. Beyonce got paid eight. And Justin Bieber's set was more like of a layback listening party type vibe. Like he was looking up YouTube videos and and was singing behind that, and he brought out special guests and had a little bit of something, but it was mostly just like he didn't dance, like he didn't really perform. Meanwhile, again, Beyonce had like a that whole Netflix documentary and you know, dance her ass off and you know, whatever. This is the problem that I have with that. Okay. So for one, is it true that black women have to work twice as hard for half as much? Absolutely. Is that also the case here? Yes. Is it bogus? Yes. But that is true. What also is true though, Beyonce, no matter how much money she was gonna get paid, was gonna put on that type of performance because that is the type of performance that she is. That is her cadence and that is her um method of entertainment that she dances, she sings, she puts on the show. That's what she wants her brand to be associated with, whatever. Justin Bieber, I mean, as soon as we saw him wearing that gray hoodie, those jeans, that pink hat, and those slides when Hayley Bieber was wearing like that red dress, we knew he gave lazy. We knew he gave, I'm gonna show up and I'm gonna sing and I'm gonna do it. But I ain't gonna be no dancing in this whole production. That's not Justin Bieber. So I think the expectations of people expecting him to put on this like huge show just because he was paid 10 million is kind of unrealistic. And this is why I stopped watching like um theories on shows and TV shows and stuff online um before like the episode comes out, because people's expectations seem to thwart actual reality and pattern recognition. Because like with Stranger Things, right? Everyone had all these theories, theories, theories, theories, theories about how Stranger Things were supposed to end. And then it didn't end that way. And then everyone said, Stranger Things was bogus. It wasn't bogus. If you're actually a fan, it actually ended perfectly, and it still gave, you know, that like whimsical uh fanfic, like sci-fi thought of like, okay, is Elle make believe or is she for or is she make-believe, or is she for real? Because it is a sci-fi show. It is a make-believe show. I mean, if they went to college and started telling people, like, oh, I saved the world from um this noseless guy and this girl had powers, like it is a sci-fi. So it is kind of keeping like their adolescence together with them to is like, did she exist or not? Like we have all that, like, you know, it it gives still that whimsical and um like adolescent childish feel to the show. And so I thought it ended perfectly. But because there there wasn't Will in in in um what's his name? Will and Mike didn't get together and stuff. The show's stupid and it didn't end how it should have been. That's stupid because it was never giving that Mike liked Will. It was never giving that Mike was gay. So why would he have been gay all of a sudden in the show? It makes sense that Will had a crush on him and that was a definitive moment in his life. Um, realizing that like he just had a crush on him because of proximity, not actually because he knew that Mike felt the same way. But like, but then the show was stupid. And this is what I mean. If you thought Justin Bieber was going to get up there and and shake some ass, then you're wrong. Your expectations are out of touch with reality. Justin Bieber wasn't giving that. It was giving, I'm gonna sit down and I'm gonna bring out some good guests and we're gonna we're gonna have a good time and I'm gonna sing. And it's the fact that I'm Justin Bieber and the fact that I'm here, and I thought he wasn't gonna show, to be honest. I thought he was a flight risk. When they said Justin Bieber, I said, yeah, we'll see. We'll see, is truly what I said. And so I'm so proud of him for showing up. And um he just seems so happy in the second weekend, too, that he like finally like kind of got his groove back. But also, too, if you're like an OG Justin Bieber fan and not just like a megastar Justin Bieber fan, then like him looking up YouTube videos, that's how he started. It's homage to how he started. And it gives too more of like a listening party feel. And that is Justin Bieber's vibe. It's very laid back, it's very chill, you know. Like we like when he dances, and he did dance like he would, but he was up there vibing. And you can, if you can't appreciate that, then like, then I don't know what to tell you because it was what it was. Again, is it bogus that like that was his performance and he got paid two mil more? Yes. But again, Beyonce, if she got paid two mil, she still would have danced like that. It doesn't matter. And so you need to have pattern recognition and actually be realistic in what your expectations to be, and then you won't be disappointed and have all this discourse online. And so that's like kind of bogus. So, two, the Billy Eilish of it all getting on there. I literally cried. I was like, every time I watch the video, it makes me so happy. Two things. There's something about Justin Bieber smiling and seeing him smile that just like sends a chill down my spine and just like makes me so happy. I love Justin Bieber. I remember when one time first came out and I showed my friends it and they didn't know it. They were like, I was like, this guy's gonna be like really big, like he's so cool, whatever. And I and I did try to like get them to make music videos and stuff when they were looking for people to make music videos or for some contest online. I did try to get my friends to make a YouTube video with me. They won it in high school, and that's okay. But um him smiling, yeah, something is just so healing about that. Like I he's just been through so much, and I'm just like really just so proud of him. But Billie Eilish going up there and being the one less lonely girl, I literally cried. At first I didn't know who it was. I was like, who is that? I thought Shaloki, she was a backup dancer, and she was like creeping onto the stage, and they just like actually accidentally got her in like the thing. I had no clue it was her until literally, it wasn't until like she was up there for like 30 seconds that you saw her face. And I just, it's such a healing thing for her, and I could just see how happy she was and how happy he was, and just like the full circle childlike healing of it all. And it literally was just the cutest thing that I have ever seen. And I'm just so glad that that was was the show. And I'm glad that I saw it live. I'm glad that Big Sean got there and sung not only one song but two songs. Um, and actually, fun fact Big Sean's mom used to work at my middle school. I never had her, but she literally did quit and be like, my son wants to become a rapper. So, like we're moving to California. So, Miss Anderson, shout out to Miss Anderson. I think my brothers might might have had her. Yeah, I really enjoyed it and I thought it was so cute, and I'm just so proud of Justin. And I might have to move back home and be homeless if I to go to his his show. Because I do really, really, really want to go if he um has a world tour, which is rumored because he said I'll see y'all soon. So that is the rumor on the street. And that honestly is all that's going on online currently. That is the news cycle for the past week. And hopefully something doesn't happen today. It's it's been a whirlwind. There's a lot going on in the pop culture world, okay, for one. And these are things that's keeping us entertained. But yeah, that's that's these are the words, the words on the street. I will say, I think the hardest part about having a podcast is the marketing, and that's something I'm really trying to like do better at and make more of a conscious effort to do. We'll see how that goes. But thank you guys again for listening. My name is Elise. I'm the host of Go Get Hers.
