WE'RE BACK IN THE STUDIO FOLKS! AND WE'RE GLAD TO BE HERE! LET'S UNPACK ALL WE'VE BEEN UP TO LATELY.
Well, folks, we're back in the studio. So let's discuss that. This is the Topher Brown Show. Hey everybody, welcome back to the Topher Brown show. Appreciate you tuning in wherever you watch from, wherever you're listening from, and wherever you're chilling from, baby. Hey, we're back in the studio. We are uh not in Key West anymore, much to the chagrin of myself and Nick and everybody who was there. But at the same time, happy to be back. Um happy to be back in the studio, happy to be back on a regular podcasting schedule. I do want to tell you that we don't have an agenda for today's talk. We're gonna talk uh and we're gonna catch up on a lot, and uh it's gonna be just a free-flowing conversation. So welcome to our little conversation. And so that I don't look like a crazy person, and this is not a one-sided conversation. Going to introduce my best friend and my co-host, Mr. Nick Smith. Hey, buddy. Howdy, howdy, America. How you doing in there, bud? Uh, right now I'm wondering what does chagrin mean? What does chagrin mean? Uh, much to the uh disappointment. I think that's how it's defined. Yeah, honestly. I knew that. I was just testing you. Oh, is that what it is? No. Just just testing me on my vocabulary skills.
SPEAKER_01You can be disappointed all you want. Uh man, I'm so happy to be home, Key West. Yeah, brother. I missed my baby and my baby.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh man, it was so nice to see them when I got back. It was it was perfect too because we pulled in from Key West. The whole time on the drive back, I was thinking, they're gonna be at church when I get home. And I'm not gonna see them. And me and Nathan pulled in the driveway and they pulled in right behind us. Nice. It was wonderful. So, not to your chagrin.
SPEAKER_00Not to my chagrin. Um, yeah, dude, the same here. I Key West is, I mean, as you guys saw from the video, it's nothing short of scenically amazing. Is that a word scenically?
SPEAKER_01Sure, I'll take it.
SPEAKER_00Uh, it's nothing short of just beautiful everywhere you look, it's just absolutely gorgeous, especially if you're around the beach area, the waterways. Um, and Key West is also incredibly fun. There's a bunch of stuff to do. It's of course a touristy town, so there's like a ton of places to go, ton of restaurants to eat at. It's just a wonderful, wonderful place, but it does not compare to being at home with your family, your kids, especially when you're our age and you're getting older and and you you you miss certain things more than you used to.
SPEAKER_01And you know, it's it's funny the things that you missed and the things that like trigger what you miss.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I remember being out late one night. One one of our favorite things is to go out late at night and go get on the scooter and just ride the island. Yep. Well, they had these beautiful, uh, what are what are the trees called? Uh the mangroves? Not the mangroves. Uh the ones with the pretty flowers on them. We have them here. I have them all over my yard. I don't know why I can't think of the name. But the flowers have this very beautiful, distinct smell. It it kind of reminds me of old lady perfume at the same time. Yeah. Yeah. But we were driving down the road and I said azaleas or something like that.
SPEAKER_00No, it's not Azalea.
SPEAKER_01Wow. That's the extent of my floral knowledge. Michelle would be disappointed. Um, and me as well. Right. Um, but I remember smelling the smell of that flower and going, man, that that smells awesome. And then immediately thinking, we have those in the yard. Yeah. I miss my wife. I miss my kid.
SPEAKER_00Oh man. Let's go home. No kidding, man. And then I get like, you know, I get on social media and I get those memories and stuff on Facebook. And it's like, it's like me and Isaiah on the lawnmower or, you know, just doing something or fishing or doing something outside. I'm like, oh, I need to get home right now. I need to book a flight and go home right now. It's just kind of crazy. Like, um, I remember as a young musician, young man and a musician just thinking, like, I never want to leave this place. Like, this is I want to get a house here. I'm thinking about just renting a storage unit and storing gear here because we're coming here forever. And then these days it's just like, um, yeah, I enjoyed it. Let's go home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And not to mention the fact that um, you know, I obviously uh my life is just sprinkled with millions of little miracles. But on the way there, um you know, I'm I'm gonna go ahead and share this testimony because it's it's awesome.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely do it.
SPEAKER_01Um we left to go down, we spent the night in Homestead, we wake up the next morning, Carter has a a doctor's appointment that next morning, and um Michelle called me as we're getting in the truck to leave to go back uh or to go into Key West. And we had this beautiful, beautiful thing happen where Carter's favorite song is I Can Only Imagine. That's that's like his number one favorite song right now. That's a good one. Um well when they got into the doctor's office, uh, that song was playing. And Michelle told me, she said, I told him, like, today's gonna be a special day. Like that's that's a sign, you know? Yeah. And man, we were all worried about these upcoming surgeries that Carter's about to have. They're they're prerequisite surgeries for a big one he has to have in a couple of years, and um, you know, insurance is it's of the devil. Sure.
SPEAKER_00Sure. I agree with that.
SPEAKER_01So we were worried about how we're gonna pay for all this stuff, and um it was gonna be a big bill and thousands of dollars, and she calls me and tells me that after that little guide wink that they had in the uh waiting room, the doctor tells them this is gonna be my pro bono case of the year.
SPEAKER_00Man.
SPEAKER_01So that bill, now don't get me wrong, there's gonna be a lot more big ones coming ahead. Sure. But that bill being taken care of, it took so much weight off of me, but at the same time, it was a moment where it's like, I want to be there to hug my family and rejoice in this in this moment and to give him the glory for it. And oh, to not be able to do that and know that I had seven days of playing guitar ahead of me, like it ripped me up for a moment.
SPEAKER_00Because we had not even started, we were still on the way there. Yeah, it takes two days to get there, in case you were wondering. You can do it in one day, but I don't recommend it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We did we'd be tired. We make the return journey in one day, and it is brutal, let me tell you about it. But yeah, we Nathan and I got to be a part of uh you finding that out for the first time, and I I'm pretty sure Nathan Nathan got pretty emotional right there in the car.
SPEAKER_01There were tears shed for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh but I mean that's just a testament to how good how good God is. And you say, you know, there's there's a there's gonna be more expenses to come, but hey, what that is is just further opportunities for the Lord to provide, and he'll do it. That's right. It might not mean he pays for every surgery, but it means he's gonna give you a way to to make it happen.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, it's it's just that that little bit of there's a glimpse there of, hey, why were you worried about this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's Jehovah Jirah. He told us that he's Jehovah Jirah. Like, why do you not trust that? And to have that little God wink to say, I got you. Yeah, man. It it was amazing. That's a special thing right there, man. It is.
SPEAKER_00It was it was cool to uh to be in the car when you found out about it, man. I think we all got a little got a little emotional, but not uh but just simply because of how good God is. I mean, yeah, he he's just that good. Like he there are so many stories like that that we could tell. I want to get our buddy uh, not today. Sorry guys, I I was about to set that up as though we had a guest in the studio. We don't, it's just us two today. But I want to get our buddy Jonathan Sherwin on the podcast, and we've talked about it. I've talked about it with Jonathan, and I think he's uh he's gonna come on at some point. But uh I want to get him to come on and talk about he owns a a place called Six Mile, and it's a it's basically a kind of a it used to be a summer camp. I think they used to do kids stuff there and stuff like that. It's got cabins and uh a big pond and the whole, you know, it's like a summer camp, like we all used to go to when we were kids. But uh he he felt a few years ago, he and his wife felt the call to buy the place, didn't know how they were gonna do it, didn't know how they were gonna um uh be able to afford all the upgrades and stuff like that. And the Lord literally just handed it to them, just handed it straight up, just handed it to them, which is what I'm not gonna spoil anything, but uh because I want to get him on the show for him to tell about it, but absolutely were miraculous. Yeah, like we think that mur that miracles don't happen in 2026. Think again, bud. Absolutely, like they do, they do, they might look different, you know. We might not spontaneously have people who were blind automatically sing. Not to say that that doesn't happen, I'm sure that it does. But it's stuff like this, man, that makes you go, all right, God is real, He exists, and He's good. Absolutely all the time. What an awesome thing that is, man. Um so we're excited about that. I I'm excited to be home, man. I'm excited to be back in the pulpit. Uh that's that's one one of the big I was talking to our pastor, Chris, about um, I now understand why he gets all anxious when he goes out of town. Because you kind of feel like, is the whole church gonna fall apart while while I'm gone? And much to my surprise, you know what? It didn't, it didn't fall apart. And everybody that we put in place to to fill in the gaps, they did an excellent job. Uh but man, I miss being in the pulpit, which is a weird sentence for me to say. Never thought I would say that, but I missed it, and uh I'm glad to be back in it, man. And things are things are rolling right back in into the swing of things. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01And hey, what were you so worried about? I remember us talking about man, I'm so nervous about going into Romans uh and having to do Romans while he's gone. Yeah, dude, you you excelled.
SPEAKER_00And now we're about to wrap it up. Yeah. Now we're about to be we're about to be done with Romans. We did we hit Romans in eight weeks. Actually, it might have been, yeah, I think it was eight weeks. I don't know. I have to go back and count. But I've tried I've tried to hit two chapters uh per Sunday, per Sunday. Um, and then this coming Sunday, which this coming Sunday will be the the 16th chapter of Romans. But if you're watching this video, that was yesterday. Yeah. Hopefully, if Facebook decided to play nice and let me actually upload this on a Monday. It's not been doing that lately. Uh what's going on, Facebook? What's the problem? But um, yeah, man, it's just been it's been incredibly rewarding. I have uh felt more and more at home um teaching than I ever thought that I would. I I always feel nervous standing behind a microphone if I don't have a guitar in my hands. Um and so you you're probably out in podcast world looking at this and going, well, you don't have a guitar in your hands right now. Yeah, well, you're not in the room, okay? You're you're watching from your phone right now. So uh it's it's different. But when you got eyes looking back at you, man, and you and you're trying to communicate the word of God, there's a lot of weight, there's a lot of pressure right there. And the Lord has been really, really good to um, you know, not have anybody throw rotten tomatoes at me just yet. But we're still we're only halfway through, so there's still time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, uh what's next? That's what I want to know.
SPEAKER_00Man, I don't know, man. I I have been really, really praying about James, and I really feel like that's probably where the Lord is leading. Um, James is a tough book to preach, as well as Romans. It's not as long as Romans, so we won't be in it for eight weeks, but um I kind of feel like James is might be where we're going. The our men's ministry right now is in James, and so I feel like that's that's probably good confirmation right there.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, that it not to sway you in any kind of way, but I mean that seems like a sign, but also personally, that's that's where I'm at right now as James. So I mean, yeah, it's pointing to something.
SPEAKER_00That's right. Uh man, I thought about James, I thought about Hebrews, I thought about Galatians. I mean, there's a lot of a lot of Pauline letters out there. Uh of course he didn't write James, and we don't know if he wrote Hebrews, but he probably did, to be honest with you. It reads like a Paul letter. Um, but it then there's also the Gospels, you know. I I I want to at some point um get into some direct teachings of Jesus. Our our pastor went through the Sermon on the Mount, which was just absolutely amazing. Yeah, it was. Um, and so I don't want to tread back over anything that he's covered unless, you know, unless we feel like our church needs it. But um, man, I I love the teachings of Jesus. Like Paul is my favorite apostle, no doubt about that. But Jesus' teachings are my absolute favorite because he was just a master, a master teacher. Uh at everything that came out of his mouth. I mean, obviously he was a son of God, so yeah, he's gonna be good at teaching, but everything that came out of his mouth was deliberate with a purpose. And I I can only imagine like being in the crowds as he was teaching and listening to the words that are coming out of his mouth and just not being able to move, you know, my eyes fixed and my ears fixed on him. That that's that's a pretty a pretty amazing thought.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think uh there being multitudes says a lot about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I I don't really see in the Bible where there's a multitude following Paul around. True.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know, he had he had his crew and then he would go to these different churches and he would he would teach, but that's right. Like we we say that um we call it the Jesus movement, and that's become a little bit of a cliche, but it really was a movement, like it was a it was a movement, and it's it's funny to think that there were messianic figures even prior to Jesus who would claim to be the Messiah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But as Josephus, the great Jewish historian, records that all of those prior movements died with those um false messianic figures. When those when those messianic figures died, their movements died. Yeah. But when Jesus died, the movement exploded. So there's something different right there. Um and also, in fact, in the fact that um post his death, you know, all of the all of his disciples wanted to go into hiding. Josephus records all this. Josephus was not a Christian, he was a Jew, right? He was a Jewish historian. But he even records that his disciples and his followers, they wanted to go underground because they thought that they were going to be immediately persecuted for following Jesus. There was a moment where the the movement had the potential to die, just like those other ones. But then something happened. Hint, hint, the resurrection happened, and then all of a sudden now, as Joe Josephus says, all of a sudden now uh they're they're not only coming out of hiding, but they're also willing to die for it. Right. And there's even like there's even famous uh YouTube influencers like Alex O'Connor who recognize the fact that something was different there. Like something he's an and he's a professed atheist, I think. He might now be on the agnostic train, but uh he is a seeker, which I actually I I recommend watching his content because he's he's not a combative atheist. He actually wants to have good faith conversations with people and talk about um he wants to be convinced. I'm convinced that he wants to be convinced. Um, but he even talks about that on an I saw it on another podcast where he's like, um, you know, you can't merely just chalk this up to like mass hallucin uh hallucinations, you can't chalk it up to mass psychosis, right? You can't chalk it up to somebody just being able to convince somebody else. He's like something was different there, and so that's that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01Um it's not stopped people from trying to prove that. I mean, there's a whole book based around uh psychedelic mushrooms being part of it. Wow, yeah, it's it's pretty wild. But I I kind of want to also like you know, there is one other that did not die out, and that's Islam. And I believe that there is a very, very good reason for that. Um uh tying eschatology into all of this. No, we can go into that in another episode because that's a big subject.
SPEAKER_00That's a big subject. Um, and just for the for the listeners who are a little bit confused by that, you know, you have there are two Abrahamic religions in the world. There's Christian, there's I'm sorry, let me back up. Uh you you could say that there are three because there is uh Judaism, right, and there is Christianity. Both of those are Abrahamic religions, but there's also Islam. Islam is an Abrahamic religion because it was birthed from the offspring of Abraham. We get our Judeo-Christian faith from uh Abraham's biological uh Abraham and Sarah's biological son, Isaac, and then uh Islam is birthed out of Ishmael, which was Abraham's biological son, but not Sarah's, it was his handmaiden's uh biological son. Right. So there's a dichotomy there all throughout history, and you can you can literally flip back in the pages of history and see that that see that war has been happening since then, which is pretty pretty crazy. Even before it was called Islam, there was still a war happening there. Right. Um, so that's pretty crazy. I that would be a great podcast episode. We need to get our get our friend brother Bruce back on the show for that one.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And probably John, and probably a but we should probably do a panel discussion on eschatology. We got plenty of mics in the house.
SPEAKER_01We should. We're in a studio full of mic phones, and I know for sure that uh, you know, me and Bruce had this uh conversation the other day. I didn't realize like how well-versed and how much of a geek he is about eschatology. Um we gotta have him in here to talk about that. We need to get all our ducks in a row and kind of yeah, get a format together and really do a show enough episode on that.
SPEAKER_00I agree with you a hundred percent, man. I'm also excited about uh the potential of a couple of new guests that I have that I'm working on right now. Um I'm not gonna I'm not gonna spill the beans on who they are just yet, but I but just know that I I'm excited about um about getting them on. Uh one one of them is a is a buddy of mine who's uh a Catholic and uh he's a bit of a Catholic apologist, man. I'm really looking forward to getting getting in the seat with him and um not necessarily just like as a matter of fact, intentionally not harping on our differences, but but more so seeing if we could if we can reach the the middle ground of Christ because it'd be really it's gonna be really cool to sit across from them and um and hash a few things out. I think it'll be fun.
SPEAKER_01Because it'll be done, people we we can have civil conversations with people on the other side of the aisle.
SPEAKER_00That's right. It will be done in a um v extremely civil and loving way. Yeah. And that's what I'm excited about. I'm not interested. As you guys know, man, I I'm I'm no longer interested. We've talked about this before in debate. I'm just really not. I I'm um I feel like my my time is too short, right? My time on this earth is too short to get bogged down. And there's there's a lot of people out there in social media land who don't like me for that, but I'm sorry. It it is the truth.
SPEAKER_01I made a there's a there's a correct way to do it too. Um, you know, I mean, uh shout out to uh Nate Sala, yeah, um, who is a master at doing it the right way. Um yeah, but man, you can get bogged down super easy and go the wrong direction with people and push people away rather than bring them in.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly right, man. I made a um this is really interesting. Um I had made a Facebook post uh about the Lindsey Clancy trial situation um that's going on, which is uh Which great response by the way. I read it. Oh, thanks, man. Which the it's an absolutely horrendous thing that that you know the reason that that this trial is happening. And my post was basically this the gist of it was um yeah, of course, uh it's it's an absolute tragedy what what has happened to these children, but all of it stems from sin. Every single bit of this, any any Any horrendous act or tragedy or or death, any of it and all of it stems from the original sin and fallen nature of humanity. And the only red only redemption from any of that is Jesus. You know, I I basically said in the post, like, um, hey, Lindsay is guilty, and so is the husband, and so is the judge, and so is the jury, and so are you, and so am I. That's the whole point. Spiritually guilty. We're we're we are we are condemned except through Christ.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00There uh scriptures say that Paul says to put on Christ, and we also know that in Romans 8:1, there is now no longer any condemnation for those who are found in Christ. Right. So even though we are guilty, we are no longer condemned because of our guilt. That was the point of the of the post. And boy, I when I tell you some folks did not like it, some folks did not like it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um and uh, you know, it what was really interesting to me, uh it it wound up being a bit of a social experiment because what was really interesting to me is that I I had people from both sides. I had people from the Lindsay is innocent side to the Lindsay needs to be condemned side, and they both thought that I was disagreeing with them, which is really interesting because I didn't say anything about either one of those things.
SPEAKER_01And you know, there I I think people get so wrapped up in earthly judgment um that they they take their eye off the fact that there's there's there's judgment beyond that. Um not to mention the fact that I mean there's forgiveness for everybody. That's that's why he went to the cross for us. Um I I truly believe that that Lindsay has an opportunity in jail to come back to the fold. Sure. And and be a candidate for heaven just like the rest of us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and and that also does not excuse what she did. Absolutely. Uh I I think that people's main issue with what I posted was uh I think that people thought that I didn't care whether or not she was convicted of this crime. Uh that's that couldn't be further from the truth. That absolutely couldn't be further from the truth. You commit earthly sins and you commit earthly crimes, you have to do earthly punishment. That's right. Period. Paul e in I'm talking a lot about Romans because I'm preaching out of Romans, so forgive me. Sorry, not sorry. But Paul talks about earlier in Romans where he says he talks about the governing authority and the fact that the the laws set forth by the governing authority we must adhere to because that that governing authority has been placed in that position by God and much to again our chagrin. He even considers those governing authority ministers of God, yeah, which is uh something we don't we really don't like. But um all that to say, yeah, dude, you you break the law, you commit a crime, uh the punishment must on earth, on earth, on earth, the punishment must fit the crime. What I was arguing in some of those comments was that that's not up to me. It's simply not up to me. I'm not on that jury, and I'm not the judge of that case. What I will say, and where where I think there was a lot of confusion, is that you know, somebody was like, Well, you just said you you were you are passing judgment because you just said that she's guilty, the husband's guilty, we're all guilty. And my argument, my response to that is just because I'm declaring that someone is guilty does not mean that I determine their guilt. Right. We determine our own guilt whenever we choose wrong. And um, it is Christ that expunges our punishment through his grace and his death on the cross.
SPEAKER_01Not to mention that that statement is like saying the sky is blue. Yeah. Uh we've all sinned and fallen short of the glory. Um whether w whether you're placing guilt on somebody or not, like it's it's it's a fact.
SPEAKER_00It's a fact, it's an absolute fact. It hey, if I had it my way, I would choose, I would choose to be innocent. Yeah. I don't want to be guilty, but it's just the fact that I am guilty. It's the fact that I'm a sinful human being that that places me in that guilty camp. And it is only by the shed blood of Jesus on the cross that I have atonement, as the scriptures say, atonement for my sin, because he was my propitiation for that sin. Uh it's not that I'm not guilty, it's that I'm forgiven. That's the difference.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I I think I can speak for all of humanity. If he had put that switch on our back, we all would have found a way to flip it by now.
SPEAKER_00Oh, no doubt about it. No doubt about it. All that to say, man, like, look, it it is a horrible situation. It is an absolutely horrible situation. And I stand by what I said in the post that honestly, really, the only innocent people in the entire scenario are the three children.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And they're innocent because they had yet, in my opinion, you know, we can debate on what the age of accountability is. In my opinion, that they were prior to reaching that. They had not reached that age of accountability yet. And my personal I personally believe that they are immediately transferred into the into the kingdom. Amen. Um, because they have not reached that that age uh where they have the opportunity to sin and willingly do it, like we all do. So they're in the arms of Jesus, they're in the arms of Christ right now. They're the only innocent ones in this whole deal, aside from Jesus. Look, we're we're we're a sinful people, we're a sinful fallen people, therefore we're all guilty. Now, I can't sit around and explain the difference between spiritual guilt and earthly guilt. That's not I'm not I will never sit around and debate that. You have to search your own heart there. People took um took offense to that. Uh not most most everybody, the vast majority of people agreed with understood, first of all, they understood what I was getting at and they agreed with it. Um but there were a few folks on there that just uh well they couldn't they couldn't let it slide. Yeah. And that's okay. Feel free. I I I don't mind. I usually try to um stay out of debating that stuff because I just again I just don't have the I don't have the stomach for it anymore. I've lost my taste for it. Um But every now and again, if I feel that something needs to be clarified, I'll jump in there.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I used to believe it was a lack of maturity thing, but really uh, you know, some people just want to be devil's advocate as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, some people just absolutely love to hear the sound of their own voice. That too. Or they love to see the they love to see the things that they've texted out.
SPEAKER_01They want to see who's gonna put that little like beside theirs or comment under theirs, or you know, kind of keep something going. Uh, like there's nothing else good going on.
SPEAKER_00That's exactly right.
SPEAKER_01We live in something to do.
SPEAKER_00We live in an age of uh approval. Like we we have to seek approval uh in the form of likes and views and all that kind of stuff all the time. Yeah. Which is uh which is insane to me. Uh I tell you, the only the only person that I seek the approval of is my father in heaven. And because I seek his approval, brothers and sisters approve of me as well. Some don't. But anyway, all that to say, man, it it is uh it's all good. I'm gonna keep posting the things that the Lord puts on my heart, and um you guys feel free to just keep jumping in there and lending lending to the conversation. Hopefully, you're lending to the conversation and not trying to destroy it. Be a good faith actor. That's all I ask. Make arguments in good faith and not you know offer up a bunch of hypotheticals and ask a bunch of leading questions that you know exactly where they're leading. Um be argue your points in good faith. That's all I'm asking.
SPEAKER_01And and that's something that people have learned from social media. No doubt. Oh you can you can tell the kind of content people are watching when all of their questions are leading.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, no doubt about it. And what's what's so funny is um, you know, there are probably folks on there who because of the kind of I guess the ambiguity of my post, there are people on there that I'm pretty sure, pretty sure disagree with one another wholeheartedly. But because they're they don't even know what they're arguing, they're agreeing with one another. Yeah. That's so that's so silly to me, man. You need to take a step back and reevaluate. But I love you anyway. Does it doesn't matter in the in the light of eternity? We're all we're all on this earth for a vapor of a second. We've talked about this in previous episode, way back when, that we're all here for for a vapor of a second, uh, for a for a split second in light of eternity. And at some point, we're going to stand before the judgment seat of God and we will have to give an account to God. Even if Lindsay Clancy walks, even if she walks away from this with a non-guilty uh verdict, there's gonna be protests and it's gonna be outrage and all of that's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But you know what? She will stand before the judgment seat of God in just a little while, and she will have to give an account whether she did it or didn't do it. And on the flip side, if she's convicted a hundred percent and goes to prison for the rest of her life and they throw away the key, and it turns out that she's innocent, then she will also in just a little while stand before the judgment seat of God and give an account. It's it's an we're on equal footing here. That's what I'm getting at. We're on equal footing. Of course, the sins that we commit in this life, of course, they they mean something, they count for for something. Um they they they all count against us, and of course, um again, you commit crimes or you commit certain sins, you are owed the due penalty for your error on earth. I am not giving an excuse to anybody on earth who does these things. All we can do is hope that the uh the legal process works. I think for the most part it does work. It's not perfect, it is flawed, sometimes it gets it wrong. Um all we can do is pray that it gets it right.
SPEAKER_01And and when it does, and you know that's that's only in our eyes. I mean, there's God has his own will for a reason. That's right. It's not ours. Whatever happens, I I'm I'm willing to accept it as God's will. And say, hey, there's there's a reason for this. There's there's good on the other side of this somehow. That's right.
SPEAKER_00Why? Because God's sovereign. That's right. And God is interested in really one thing, and that's bringing glory to himself. Um, and so if if you don't think that God is in control, think again, bud, he is, no doubt about it, no matter which way the jury swings. Amen. Well, that's all I have to say about that. Brother, I've enjoyed talking and just debriefing with you. Same, brother. And uh I appreciate you guys tuning in and just kind of being a part of our conversation. But man, like like I said, feel free to jump in there and lend your opinion. Uh we may not be super quick to respond to it, but if we feel the need to, we will. And uh we'll try to have a mature uh conversation about these things. This is, I mean, obviously like the Lindsey Clancy thing, that's a hot button issue at the moment. Yeah. Um, and I've seen where, you know, I don't know how true true this stuff is. It's like a viral story, like some guy broke up with his fiance because she supported her and stuff like that. Um, look, man, like don't let don't let the things of this world, all the all the sin and death and tragedy of this world divide you like that. Um find your common ground, stand together. For those of us who are in Christ, our common ground is Christ. We can disagree, but we can still be brothers and sisters in Christ. That should be the most important. That should take precedent. That should be the number one priority. Above all of these opinion opinions and things of an opinionated nature.
SPEAKER_01And if you find yourself up in arms and uh you feel like you're gonna sin in that anger, y'all come join me on Facebook Marketplace and stay off of that timeline. There you go.
SPEAKER_00That's about the best use of Facebook, ain't it? I'm telling you. Marketplace. Um, but don't spend too much money there.
SPEAKER_01Well, and you know, try not to covet your neighbor's stuff while you're there, too. I I struggle with that. There you go. I'll see a square body Chevy and go, God, I wish that was mine.
SPEAKER_00We are all just looking for a square body Chevy. Honestly, that's that's uh there's a metaphor in there somewhere, I think. But uh thank you guys for watching. Dick, love you, brother. Love you too, brother. Thank you for all you do, and uh thank you guys for all you do. If you are interested in supporting us financially, uh we we really, really appreciate everybody that does. I can't stress that enough. Every every dime you spend goes to making this show happen, uh, goes to you know us being able to set aside the time to be able to do this kind of stuff and equipment and all that stuff. You get it. But we really appreciate it. You can you can do that if you feel led to, or if you just want to. Uh, you can go to patreon.com slash tofer brown. Aside from that, we covered your prayers. We appreciate you guys who pray for us on a regular basis. I know there are a lot of you out there, and uh that's what we desire the most. So thank you for that. We love you. God bless you, take care of one another. See you next week.
