WERE BRITISH HAIRDRESSING AWARDS FINALISTS… EEEEK
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This week, it’s the episode we’ve been waiting to record…
✨ WE’RE BRITISH HAIRDRESSING AWARDS FINALISTS! After months of hoping, refreshing emails, and keeping everything crossed, we can finally say it out loud—we did it! We chat all about the moment we found out, what it means to us, and why we’re still pinching ourselves.
Elsewhere, it’s chaos as usual. Kirstie recounts the holiday lake catfish drama that absolutely nobody saw coming, while Jen discovers that choosing a family villa is basically an Olympic sport when you’re factoring in toddlers, pools, flights and everyone’s opinions.
We’re also asking the important questions… what on earth are Jeets? If you know, you know… if you don’t, join us while we try to figure it out.
As hairdressers, we couldn’t resist sharing our ultimate summer miracle products—the ones we’d genuinely pack if we could only take a handful of products away with us.
Plus, we’re talking fashion vibes, why Jen has become a complete fashion hypocrite, and, because it wouldn’t be Era Unfiltered without it… there’s a healthy dose of gardening chat too.
Expect laughs, life updates, hair recommendations, and plenty of unfiltered chaos. Pop your headphones on and join us!
Rolling.
SPEAKER_02Look at us. We're on time. We're on time. This is gonna be great. I can roll it out on time. Well, let's be thinking positive, like. So big week. Massive week. Yeah. If you have been living under a rock and haven't seen on any social media, we did it. We got through. What like did you think we would? Do you know what? I felt so confident.
SPEAKER_00Like, because I love the collection.
SPEAKER_02By the way, this is for BHAs.
SPEAKER_00Yes, British hairdressing.
SPEAKER_02We have just finalised for the British hairdressing awards, Northeastern hairdresser of the year. As a pair, which seems to be confusing people. Yeah, they're just one. So it's the same and Jenny are now one person. As Andy Wotton would say, we're like for chairs. He actually used a sports duo as well, but I can't remember who they were. Um so yeah, no, I absolutely like loved our collection so much, and obviously we're well aware of what does finalise in BHAs. And I looked at it and I was like, we have such a good chance because I had so much faith in our collection. So I was feeling dead confident. Then it got to Monday night when we did know if we were gonna be finding out on the Tuesday or the Wednesday, and it just suddenly hit me, and I was like, Oh my gosh, we might not. Yeah, I I'd felt the same.
SPEAKER_01Well, I felt really positive in the fact that I well, you know, I'm like with the secret and all that kind of thing. I'm like, if you want something to happen, you just thought like it's already happened, so I just couldn't let my brain think what if not, but the mistake I made obviously was going on holiday a week before the announced.
SPEAKER_02That was a mistake, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Massive mistake, because as we all know, I am a masturbative thinker, and so I feel a lot of like even when my kids were like napping when I was on holiday, where I should have just been reading a book and like enjoying it. I wasn't, I was just lying lying on the sunbed thinking like, what if we don't, what if we don't, what if you don't?
SPEAKER_02Um so it did take over my brain quite a lot. Um but we have we've done it, we've done it. Do you know the other thing that made me really nervous? I think it did the same to it, was seeing the all the judging videos. Yeah, there was loads of judges on the book.
SPEAKER_00Oh what I hold and just like images. I know I don't know why I didn't think. Of course there's gonna be a room full of entries.
SPEAKER_02Like that's the whole anybody can enter, the whole nation. Enter. Of course it's gonna be a room full of images, but once I saw that it was a room of images, I was like, Yeah, I get it.
SPEAKER_01But it was like a bucket list. I mean, obviously we've hammered a lot of money, time, effort, uh thought process, yeah, money again, yeah, into this.
SPEAKER_02Like it's not just been like, oh yeah, they just took a few photos and like I had a nice time. It's been a full-blown commitment, isn't it? Yeah, and it's an investment, it's a massive investment. Um I'm just so so pleased that we've ticked off that like bucket list. Like we said we wanted to do that. But obviously, the main bucket list is to win, but like we have entered for the first time, it's pretty unheard of to finalise on your first go. And we've freaking done it. So so we just need to go for the win now. I feel like also big thanks to our amazing photographer Jackie. Yeah, we're just obsessed with him, really. He's just bad. I just love how invested in us and our whole concept. He was like, he totally got it. Yeah, and that you can see, yeah, in the we produced exactly what we wanted, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we decided way back in like October when we're in that little cabin in the woods with the kids that we didn't mind falling on our sword, in the fact that obviously, usually at these hairdressing events, everything's a bit quirky and a bit like edgy and all that kind of thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and sometimes, like, because it's magazine-worthy stuff, isn't it? Like, sometimes, in my opinion, the models look a bit alien-y, yeah, but it's been like edited a certain way, and some people love that, and I'm all for that if that's what you love. It's like art though is made for what you objective, isn't it? But for me you, we like a bit more raw, a bit more real, a bit more skin. Yeah, and that was so what we were going for.
SPEAKER_01So obviously, we like we said, we we don't care if we fall on our sword, but we're going for something that we still find beautiful rather than something that we think that other people will like. Yeah. Um and I yeah, we did it. It's paid off. So final is 23rd of November at the Breaken in London, and we won't know. We're into the final six now, but we won't know until it's announced on the night who has won.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Obviously, we are, I believe, the only people who haven't ever done it before in our category, aren't we? I'm pretty sure we're the only yeah, in the final six of this year. Like our names are the only ones that haven't been in that final six before. Yeah, yeah. The others have been in it previous years. Yeah, so I'm still newcomers, yeah. That's still manifesting.
SPEAKER_00With the two kids in town, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And we've had some mega follows, haven't we? Which is just great for Era. That we've got some big dogs in the big dogs now following us, which is great. And our emails have been popping off now, all of some of them's like on the map. And that's another bucket list for this year, it was to get era on the map, and I feel like we've done it.
SPEAKER_01We have.
SPEAKER_02It's been well done us. Well done us, and well done you. And well done you. Um yeah, but I feel like that has obviously taken over a lot of our life right now. Obviously, we went yesterday to celebrate. We did, and when have we ever like I actually don't think we've done that since we opened we haven't? Or since you've been before we went to Dubai base. Yeah. Oh yeah, came back from Dubai and we did have a lunch once. Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, look, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That was when I was like Bloody Trend vision results. That was in 2020. We went to the Japanese place. Before then, 2020 was COVID. It must have been before. No, it was then. Oh, was it? Before everywhere shop, yeah. Um then I don't know, maybe it wasn't that, maybe you're right. Anyway, that was a lunch. Bye-bye, I guess yeah. Bye the bye, bye-debye. Um so we went to Laferia, oldie but a good eight. Can't go wrong. Felt like we were on holiday, the weather was amazing. We were dressed for fairy holiday mics, and it was between people from Harry Aid, the orchid or La Feria. And normally we would just hands down go to the orchid, wouldn't we? Especially because there's an outside bit which we didn't know was, which is also gorgeous. I think for me, the orchid is where I go in the winter. And it or like a bit of a fine dine evening. You want a good s good service, feel a bit yeah, bougie. Which is what exactly what we wanted yesterday. But I had just been craving their blue cheese salad, so we have to choose the ferrier. And it was delightful. And so we sank a bottle of wine, had a really good chat, it was so good. We got flirted with your man. Yeah, you tried to take a photo of this, but took it to the video on Benny's phone.
SPEAKER_01No bad. So cute, yeah, so cute.
SPEAKER_02Um, who just did ice day, wasn't it? Like, no kids, actually managed to have a conversation. I wore white because I knew I wouldn't have sticky fingers. Yeah. Then we went up the road to drunk and piglet, both our first time there. 10 out of 10, highly recommend. Yeah, and we felt we owned the drunk and piglet, didn't we? Because we've got a gorgeous client whose family used to own Lancaster's bakery, which had been there since come on, you must know that. I don't actually don't know, but my nana was I believe the manager for like I don't know, I'm gonna say 40-50 years of like for a very long time.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then sadly the business changed over and it got taken over by this pug, and everybody was like, What's it gonna be like?
SPEAKER_02But I think well Claire, who family used to have it, said that she feels like they've honoured the Lancaster's day trees. I'm gonna take my to go and take her out for lunch there. And mate, it was the place to be. Well, god, I can't wait. Post five o'clock, that is where you have to. I just can't fathom how that many people can just go do that at five o'clock on Paragate darling. I know I can't. I mean, I don't want to wish my kids' time away, but I can't wait. I can just go for a beer o'clock at five o'clock on a Wednesday. Dreamy. Yeah, delight. Dreamy. I mean the the the people in there were very much paragateans, but no best than like big blow dry, it's beautiful. And that looked amazing. I could probably look great. It looked fabulous and we're having a gorgeous time. And the food looked pretty bloody good. And it smelled amazing. Smelt amazing. The wine menu was good, the wine was good. The wine was very good. Um the cocktail's nice. Yeah, the cocktail was nice and very reasonable for the cocktail and what's in the wine. Yeah, the wine was. But he did warn us, he said you might be better off with a bottle, but we didn't listen. Because we were trying to be good mumps. And then we're still safe enough. So we actually should have had a bottle. But you know, you live in your learn.
unknownYou do. So that was great. Um what else have we been up to? Well, you've been on holiday. I've been on holiday, yeah. That was lovely.
SPEAKER_01Went with all Jordan's family, including parents, brothers, and their girlfriends. That was fine.
SPEAKER_02And you say in a jet, which is a new word for me in the last two weeks. I don't know whether it was a jeet. Oh god, don't tell me that. I don't know whether a jeet is like very, very small, whereas this was a huge house. It looks big. Yeah. But if it's the equivalent of a villa, a villa is can be any size, right? Maybe, I don't know. So I'm gonna still call it a Git for the person. I love it. I love that I've now learnt a new thing. Maybe just have Chat GPT about. I'm pretty sure it like anything can be a Git. A Git? I've just never heard that before. Chat G P T. Love that for France. I don't think we've even ever learned that word in a French lesson.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I feel like not my song, that's a house, isn't it? Yeah, maybe maybe that's what I was in. What is uh how the hell would you spot a G I reckon it's J-E-E-T. Like a an E with a squeal.
SPEAKER_01House in that's like a villa. It's come up with I'd done J-E-T-E, which is pronounced Jette, which in ballet is a jump.
SPEAKER_02We're on the wrong genre here.
SPEAKER_01It doesn't know what it is, I don't know. But I'll find that for another episode. Um but yeah, it was gorgeous. Um I was a little bit worried because there's an ongoing joke in our family because years ago when we all went to the south of France, their Villa just didn't have any icon.
SPEAKER_02Do you know after speaking to loads of clients about France, they apparently it's really hard to find. Yeah, that's what Helen Mark said, which is my parents. That's wild because it's bait, like it'd be hard to find one without.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. And I that's why I just didn't, I mean, I I never went to France with my comedy room, I'm more like real same. Yeah, um, but so I've never really been until I started getting with them, and I would never have even thought to ask, does it have aircon? So I would assume that it does. Yeah. Anyway, didn't so but we ended up with the one bedroom that did have like an aircon.
SPEAKER_02Or was it an outcome great? Because we had the kids, so worked out really well. Yeah, that's good then. It was really good. So yeah, just really like one day we went to a vineyard, that was really lovely. Well, wine tasting. And you brought some bottles back for me to try because you're such a good friend. I have because I even enjoyed the red, which I'm not. Katie's a booby on the red. Yeah, I got her into red. I'm a rose gal or a white gal, uh Sauvignon blanc gal, but I just definitely wouldn't be a red gal. But I loved it on this wine tasting experience. And you loved the 19 crimes. I love the 19 crimes from book club because that's something new that we've done. We started brief, we did briefly. We did talk about that last time, but yeah, just that we've done on holiday since then I can't remember.
SPEAKER_00And we had nine, so the book club thing is my sister set it up, and you have to obviously recommend a book, and whoever's hosting it will recommend you wine for everyone to try.
SPEAKER_02So I've done read between the wines. How clever is it? It's very case, it's very cake. Um yeah, so we did 19 crowns, and it was so cool because you got to scan the bottom and it had a little performance. You've got this card, yeah, it's very itchy. I can tell it, it's like stuck in your eye. There you go. Oh, she's touched my high gelatin.
SPEAKER_01I don't mind. Um so yeah, that was all lovely. We went to a lake one day, which I don't even mind that this might offend people, people I went with, but was an absolute shithole of like yeah. I mean, it's funny now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but like when you're hot and you're bothered and you start to see it. It's just a little baby now after. So I in fair did everyone feel the same once we got there, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I hadn't actually seen any pictures of it before we went anyway, but I have to say, now having come back and had a look on like social media and stuff, it's definitely falsely advertised, it doesn't look anything like the photo.
SPEAKER_02It's a catfish lake, a cash catfish of a lake, and so like the kids were in the water, and I was thinking, oh but this is a couple of line all over it.
SPEAKER_01Great, and then like the flying ants that were just like biting us, it's just awful. And then for some reason, I don't know why. I mean, I definitely don't know why I didn't suggest that this wasn't a very good idea, but whatever. We didn't make sandwiches before we went, we took all the stuff to make sandwiches there. Well, when there's ten people and you it's all just three degrees and there's flying ants. Yeah. Oh, that's gross. Oh gosh but everything else that holiday was tough, and that was just one like half of the day because we didn't even stay for a full day. Um because everybody was like, Yeah, it's time to go. Yeah. Um, but yeah, every other day was oh, another day, me, Jay, and the kids just went to Carcassonne.
SPEAKER_02That'd be lovely little well, I'd say a really lovely like my Instagram I feel really made that day look really lovely. Yeah. And it was really lovely. And I know that now I'm like looking at it through rose-tinted glasses, like, oh, wasn't that such a cute little family day? But the reality of it was we walked around the castle ruins, which once you this is a controversial thing to say. Once you've seen a castle, you've seen a castle when it's in ruins. So, well it's a it's still a good castle, but um you know, whatever. Then we stopped for lunch and the the the place we had actually been to in 2019 when we last went, oh that's nice.
SPEAKER_01And it was like, oh, this is so nice, like we're here with our babies now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We weren't even engaged. They put us on the one table that wasn't in the shade. So it was like poor babies fucking hell. I was like, yeah, I honestly, do you know when like I'd like worn a huge my cute little Morgan Clare new dress? I was like ready for an Instagram ball afternoon, and honestly, I was like melting. Sweating. Jordan was just like huffing and puffing, he was sweating through his shirt. Anyway, in the end, I was like, Can I can we just move the table? Because like this is actually torturous.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um both the kids were just anyway. We did we kept set they had an ice cream each and me and Jay got a chicutri board. Anyway, little buggers ate all ham off the chiccutri board. I love them. I love them. They're so big. But I just said, Do you want anything to eat? Yeah, I'm not hungry, no, I'm not hungry. Okay, we'll just have an ice cream then and like I'm gonna drink this wine and have the chicutri board because I'm in France and that's what we do. Yeah, that's what I want to do together. And so it was lovely, but again, I think Instagram versus reality I have enough.
SPEAKER_02It's just like it's so funny, isn't it? Because you don't want to moan about like we obviously love my children. I do love my children, but doing adult things with children is not fun. Like anyway, straight away we went to the toy shop and they got a sword and a shield. You should have done that pre-lunch. Well bloody glad I didn't, Jenny. Oh god, why? Because they wouldn't. They'd be mattering each other with them.
SPEAKER_03That's so funny.
SPEAKER_02It's alright behind closed door, but you don't want the nation seeing Oh, I don't know, they're probably pretty relaxing, France. I feel like they're the training to say chill on the kids. Although they they're going for everybody with them, are they?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02No shame that it's safe in my house and they're. Oh my god, I love it. Although I've got to say, Delilah said the cutest thing.
SPEAKER_01So we were talking about like knights and princesses and all this kind of thing. Anyway, the rest of them had all gone canoeing on the day that we went to carcass on.
SPEAKER_02And when we got home, she was like, Right, so what do I have to do with it at bedtime? And I was like, what do you mean? She was like, Well at night, what do I have to do with the nights at bedtime? And I was like, No, you've missed the whole thing that we've been talking about all day. That is so cute. That's really cute. You need to write that one down. Yeah. I've said it now. You've said it, but you need to get it written down somewhere because that's cute. Yeah, so cute. That little brain, so much going on. And I just haven't even thought to explain to her. A night and a night. Yeah. Wait until you have to go through the whole like spelling of it. Oh god, it's got a sound. Okay, yeah. Kite. Kite. Kite. Oh, oh well. That's cute. So have a lovely holiday. Yeah. And you've got another family holiday coming up, so we've got what she will say. And I think it'll be a bit cooler. A bit cooler, and then it's that that was like a villa slash yeet with like the full family. This is like just with my parents or inclusive and yeah, like a hotel. Not child-friendly in a bad way, but like a bit more ready for them to just you can probably relax a little bit more because it's set up for it. Yeah. Yeah, because it is a big thing, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Like, we're obviously lucky going away in September.
SPEAKER_02We've got a gorgeous villa, and like looking through the villas, again, it was beautiful, but it was hard to choose, but like we had to base it off of like Spencer Hater feeing peril, and I'm sure you have the same thing with gorgeous at last. Like, it's just not safe, is it? If you want a pool, yeah, but nowhere really has pool barriers anymore. I do, and that so that was one thing that like because I haven't done a holiday like this with kids yet. I've only been in hotels since I've had kids, right? That I hadn't like I I have thought about it, but I haven't really appreciated like you can't even like like sit and have your meal on a high, yeah you know, if they'd done like barbecue or whatever, because I could trust that Delilah wouldn't run away into it, but Effie she'd just lost it out.
SPEAKER_00She'll think about that when she's in the hall. I know, it's stressful, isn't it? I mean, luckily ours again, because I've chosen it with that in mind, because we went with my sister two years ago.
SPEAKER_02But Vi was to be fair, Vi's always been like me, totally not bothered by water, so she was pretty safe there to be fair, but you still feel like you can't just trust that they won't go in there.
SPEAKER_00Um, but that was all like set out right where the pool was. Actually, that had an infinity pool, which don't get me wrong, it's stunning. But when you're on an inflatable, that is not ideal.
SPEAKER_02How am I just gonna go off the edge all the time? Anyway, that's by the bye. Um for the pictures, nice for the pictures, but yeah, quite scary when you're on an inflatable trying to relax at night time because at dreaming she was laughing then. Yeah. Um, but this pool is down some steps, so like where you'd sit for dinner, thankfully, is that up, and then you have to go down some more steps into where they've got like the pool and the sort of thing. Which this the one that we went to the last time was like that, yeah, but we obviously didn't have kids, so I didn't appreciate until you sort of search on them, that there was others that were beautiful, and I was like, Oh, look at that, and then we're like, Oh, I'll go. I would still go back to where I went in the fact that next year Effie way different. Yeah, yeah. Well, I hope. I don't know, or should be even worse, yeah. I'm not sure, but but yeah, it's big things and it's just a bit scary, isn't it? And then once you've hit that into your algorithm, crash you hit see some horror stories on the next day, exactly. Um but yeah, it just really made me think I'm so I don't well wish away these days, yeah. But a beach club would be nice. No, I'm joking, I'm joking. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, but I am in the fact that like it was such a cute happy holiday. Yeah, it's just honestly, it just goes back to like I love be like I love a day out with my kids when I'm doing kiddie things because I just love seeing them, like loving it. It's so stressful when you're doing something adult, yeah, because you can't expect them to do it. Well you can, we do expect them to do it, but then it's stressful because they're not really good at doing it. So then you're just pissed off that they're not gonna have it. Lunch all by one with their kids between the two of us. Like they're not gonna want to do that, so it's what it is. Yeah, which to that quite great idea, there's later cushions each of their own.
SPEAKER_00Do you know what?
SPEAKER_02That's why I loved that holiday to haven't with my sister, because this is probably just outrageous to say, but it's full of chat, isn't it? I mean I could guarantee when we went out there's always gonna be naughty kids than ours. So I was so relaxed because I was like, they're they're being relatively what I would normally tell off. But I was like, look, they still look like angels compared to most of the people in this place, so just let them do it. Yeah, just let them roam. They loved it. There was like you were like stuck in weather spoons, and there was a park very well thought out. There's a park next to the beer garden at weather spoons at Haven. And there's like I said to Violet, if you want to go on your scooter, you'll need to do it out there. You can't do it round the tables because I don't think that is appropriate. She got it, she was scooting around the park. Anyway, next thing there's just like loads of kids whipping past your table now, they're taking you out of the scooters. And I was like, fair, I'm not. Because clearly everybody else is fine. It's really good. I've only done like centre parks, but yeah, it's a centre park too. You're you're probably going back into like they need to be relatively well behaved. Haven't three roads. Even when I was kidding lived at Haven. Oh, we did it, and that's why we went because it was like reliving our like childhood. And we relived our childhood. We loved it. I was like, do you remember because we got paid all those double bikes together?
SPEAKER_00It was really cute.
SPEAKER_02We'll go back again next year. That was my first experience. Oh, you'll love it. You will love it. You have to do like maybe not the the week, you'd have to do the weekends when you're ready for home. Yeah. But yeah, anyway, that's holiday chat. Very relevant for this gorgeous summer though, I just think that now we're happy. Yeah, this is perfect for me. Gorgeous temperature. So if we just have air color in the salon, then I feel turn up ten. Oh no, yeah. To be continued.
unknownUm hair products.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. Because we you know, we will go into gardening in a minute because we can't do anything now, but we thought we'd best actually touch on some hairdressing um stroke products.
SPEAKER_02And you have been loving because thought your clients have been going on their holidays, haven't they? And said, What do you recommend? Yeah, so what's your product? Demorable treatment. Um honestly, I gave my mother-in-law some for when we were going on holiday because she's just had her hair all bleached back up to blonde from like obviously she got copper at the autumn. Yeah. Um, and honestly, you wouldn't you wouldn't even know. Um, I just really rate it as an all-rounder, but it is like 11 different benefits, but yeah, it's gorgeous to blow dry with as well, so next is usually blow dry bit. But also the UVA and UVB protection like 10 out of 10. I just can't fathom why people wouldn't just take that with them because you wouldn't even have that was its sole purpose, it's not perfect. It's just like a load of other benefits. People like I very rarely hear of a client saying that that they don't put SPF on their face daily. Oh god, yeah. So why do people want to do it with the hair? That's what I find so weird that people spend so much on their skin but don't on their hair. But hair care is behind skincare, sadly, isn't it? It is, but also then when you're looking at somebody, someone's hair can really age them. Yeah, and actually, I think when it comes down to it, if you were going out, I mean we wouldn't because we can do our hair, but a lot of people, if they were going out, they would probably choose to go and have their hair done over going and having say makeup done or whatever, because most people have like their average thing they can do on their face. I mean, don't get me wrong, like Danny Redding can make me look like I'm a celebrity, she's incredible, and I will never be able to achieve that by myself. So I would personally always choose my face, but it's because I can do my hair, whereas I think it's like at a wedding with a case scenario, I can make my face look alright, yeah, yeah. Same. Whereas I think people struggle more with getting their hair done, like to be able to do it themselves, yes, true, true. Um, yeah, so then invest in the product, invest in the product in the hair. That's what I'm saying, like it's good, isn't it? Because I do think skincare technically is more advanced at the moment. The other thing that is wild to me is that that bottle is £22. I know. Like, what skincare product would you get for £20? Yeah, exactly. Even like when I went to um Asta before we went on holiday, we just got a load of toilet trees for like you know, like sun cream and stuff. I can't couldn't believe the price of even like just a cheap chip, yeah. Yeah, sun cream now. Yeah, sun cream is extortional, isn't it? Which do you like? I just for the kids always go for that and if you uh like fact 50 kids a roll on one for their face and screw everywhere else. Yeah, and actually we used that as well this time, did you? I did go down to a 15 oil for the last day to just change myself, but yeah, and then obviously panicked all all the next day, like oh god, I hope that's not done and I think with my skin cancer, but that's the classic casty worrying about that after option. That is classic, yeah. I like for myself that once a day. I can't remember what it's called now, it's like a white bottle.
SPEAKER_01Oh yes, one thing he did do though whilst we were away was we ran out of the kids factor 50. So I'm like, why don't we just go to the supermarket and get them some more? No, no, it's alright, there's a pharmacy in the village, okay there we go. Anyway, so he goes in and I get a pin from Momzo, and it was 19 euros for this bottle of um sun cream. I was like, what the f have he bought? Now I butcher this name, I find it really, really hard to say. But he gets back in the car and it's La Ro what is it? La Roche. Oh my god, really?
SPEAKER_02Sun cream stuff. So I was like, um, anyway, so at least we go to Portugal and we can use that as well. You know that um that brand I also can't say it. La Roche. When I was on um Rarakatain, yeah, because my skin was horrific. That was the only thing that I could put my skin in topic. A lot of people do say that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which is strange, isn't it? It's obviously like I mean it's mega expensive, so it is mega expensive, but if you are struggling with potatoes, it's mega expensive.
SPEAKER_02It's not it's not as expensive as what like Tropic is. Isn't it? It's more expensive than it.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I don't actually really look into skincare.
SPEAKER_02Boots. Yeah, so yeah, like boots points it up in the fine. No. But yeah, it's good. It was it was not it wasn't like I thought it was like in line with like spacing cave, but it's not. No, it's probably well it's boots has good brands in now anyway, doesn't it? But yeah, it's like part of their obviously better ranges, but I only really stick to what I know when it comes to skincare and never delve. I mean, now I although we have just uh Sarah Chapman actually, which I love is so good. Yeah, I think we've said that before, but it is really good, really good. But normally I'm just chopping through and through now makeup as well. Or I do love that Charlotte Tilbury blush. Does it put like a cream blusher? Oh well, I just think at least Elveridge version of that, but I just feel like I just can't get wrong with hourglass. Hourglass is just hourglass. I think that used a lot of hourglass. I love that. Is it like vegan friendly, isn't it? Yeah, I imagine most are now, but I feel like I also know Charlotte Tellsbury's just lost her rating. What's she been testing on?
SPEAKER_01Don't know. I think she's still in China now. Oh wow I don't know that for sure, but that's what I think it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, so yeah, that would be my little hair love, little love, yeah.
SPEAKER_00For me, I am all for the cleansing, hard water. I've told you about this.
SPEAKER_02I think conspiracy theory here, the harrogate water has got worse.
SPEAKER_01I definitely think that's it's moving back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it never used.
SPEAKER_02I remember going to my sister's in Leeds, and like they had loads of like, is it called light scale when it like builds up? And she's like, honestly, it's a nightmare. She's like, in the kettle, she had to like clean everything so much because I get like that white residue all the time. I was like, oh well, we don't get that in Harakate.
SPEAKER_00And then just recently, I've been like, oh my god, and it's really annoying because my taps are black in my house and it chips the frickin' paint, it's so annoying, and I've never noticed that, so I think something's going wrong in the water, which results in poor blonde people going brassy and dull. So for me, the most important thing that I would say now is that you need a cleanse before your normal.
SPEAKER_01So, like your shampoo cleanse pretty much every wash now, but I also think there's actually not a client who shouldn't be doing that now. Even men should be doing it, yeah, coloured virgin hair. Because I actually find virgin hair is sometimes the greasiness, yeah, it's so true.
SPEAKER_02Um, so yeah, deep cleanse or a gentle cleanse, and then a shampoo, and then your condition or your treatment, etc.
SPEAKER_00So I think that's important.
SPEAKER_02True, and on the sales front, 11 have just brought out the mega the big ones, so you're getting 500mm. It's only for limited time though, I think.
SPEAKER_00So that's what you're saying. 500mm instead of the 300mm for the same price as the 300mm. Which is also 22 pounds.
SPEAKER_0222 pounds because everything across the 11 Australia range bar the oil is £22, £2 across the board, easy peasy.
unknownYeah, love a good price is gripping one. So well the birds for talking about some hairdressing. Yeah, god.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, back to gardening, back to gardening, that's what we really know. So my neighbour looked after all my plants whilst I was wearing, apart from Margarita, the chili plant when we came here.
SPEAKER_01Um which obviously this weekend it's burst with show. I really should be red.
SPEAKER_02Um no, they're not red, but there's a lot of them, yeah. That's great.
SPEAKER_01Um, so yeah, she's going to be showing a burst with show, but my runner beans and like all my vegetable patch has been amazing whilst I've been away. He's done a great job of it.
SPEAKER_02My plants like the ones that all go down the garden path, I'm having to replace once I leave here. That's on my to-do list for this afternoon. Because I've got friends coming open to buy at the weekend, and my garden is smashed to bits. My grass looks like hay, and all the colour in the garden has died. So the veg patch is great, potatoes taste amazing. Yes, the gorgeous. Um so they've all got their all dug up now, and all the carrots are dug up. My leaks will be in October, strawberries again, straw tomatoes, obviously tomato plant have finally stopped flowering and actually started producing tomatoes. Is that the one you got from nursery? Oh that one's died a day, has it? It fell off the um, she kept putting it near the gate and the wind was too much and it kept blowing off. So I've told her that what's in the veg pouch is from that, yeah, but it's not.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, ours has gotten quite tall now. I've had to put a stick in to support it, but no tomatoes. That's what I was asking.
SPEAKER_02If yours has got tomatoes on it, no, ours went with the wind, the pot wasn't quite heavy. Yeah, I mean it was one of them little flimsy pots, which is fine because we were given it by the littles for Father's Day to be to their daddies, which was so cute, actually. Um do you know what? I've been really upset because a high ranger is my favourite. They are your favourite. Um you inspired me to get them. I just think they're a really quite easy plant and they really look great. Nine are torched. Yeah, this weather, they've just not enjoyed it, they're singed, brown, singed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my furious.
SPEAKER_02However, yesterday I did uh what do you call it? Irrigate I put the irrigation plant feed and I did all the azaleas, all the rhododendrons, and all the hydrangeas, and I'll see what I'll let you know at the end of the day when I get home what if that's done anything. You've not put out any rhododendron, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Why is that what originally killed it? Yeah, we figured this out. So we've got a rhododendron that's also not doing very well. Well, mine was not much better because I'd stopped giving it that, but they told me I know you need to figure out what soil you have already. So we found out that our soil is already really acidic. And well, I mixed acidic with normal for them when I move them. Yeah, and then it's something to do with whatever you're feeding it with, it can be too much, or like if you've already got quite a lot of acid, if you're giving it more acid, so you might need to like balance it back. Yeah, so we have to re we have to repot ours because our soils acidic and repoting joint coverage in London. I'll just have to give them the method. I'm just telling you what I know, mate. I'm sorry about that, but that is just the way it is. Anyway, we've done a lot of chat GPT, and Luke, bless him, has really like taken on the gardening baton at our house, and he's done such a good job of the garden. Um, but the hide ranger thing was really upsetting me, and I thought it was just out as and then you'd obviously said that yours had done that. And then I've been walking around Harrogate, and it would seem everybody's hat other than the pink ones. Well, my nanna's, I showed you the picture. Hers are pink, but the blue ones are not singed either. I wonder if she's placed them better. Anyway, if anybody is growing hide rangers and they've not been singed, oh yeah, but hers are still come in. No, that's why she said she said, Why have ours come out already? She said they shouldn't be out yet. Oh well, mine was out in force. Yeah, me too. I'm really gutted about it. Anyway, basically, anybody that's grown hide rangers and yours have been singed.
SPEAKER_01Um they haven't been singed. I mean the rhododendron situation is great for me because everybody really helps me with that.
SPEAKER_02So write in, let us know. Yeah, let us know what the secret is. Where should they be placed?
SPEAKER_03Hmm.
SPEAKER_01I think that's the problem with my garden placement, man. It's only if at the end they do well, down that side they don't.
SPEAKER_02You need to get a jenny.
SPEAKER_00What's a jenny? A little fern. It's called jenny. That's why I bought it, obviously, because it has my name.
SPEAKER_02But it's like a little fern, like a little green fern, and it's like a shrub, I think. I feel like I'm thoroughly enjoying saying that word.
SPEAKER_00A fern. I'll say if you want that's fern fern. Um, yeah, they're great to plant because they'll shrubs are quite happy in the shade. So I planted a few jennies around the garden. Like Luke's not got a little jelly going on.
SPEAKER_02Like that?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And then I got a midnight maltini.
SPEAKER_02Oh, what's that? It's really cool. I can't really explain it, but it's like not a not a flowery plant, it's more leafy.
SPEAKER_00The leaves are like a really dark greeny orange. Oh, I know what you mean. Really shiny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_02They look fabulous. I've got one of those because I thought they look cool. I bought a rose, it's called Birthday Girl. Oh cute. It's really nice.
SPEAKER_01Um, that's also dying because everything in my garden except for my vegetables.
SPEAKER_02You need to look into your soil.
SPEAKER_01Well, I know that the soil's crap because it's clay up there. But I have been using actual compost.
SPEAKER_02Your rose is quite clay though. I wonder if you're having the same problem. You also can't feed it with um blood and fish guts. Apparently that's meant to be like the best thing to put on there, but it's not if your soil's really acidic.
SPEAKER_01Oh well, I didn't get a composting thing in the end anyway.
SPEAKER_02Well, anyway. No, I think you can buy like fish and blood gutter. I didn't put that in my compost before. I was like, where the fuck is she? No, no, no, it's a feet, it's a type of feet.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, gardening. It's been it's been a fun gardening year, really.
SPEAKER_02It has because neither of us like really knew what we were doing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it's also like going back to like what the my young self would think of me like cringing.
SPEAKER_02I still do cringe about it a little bit, but then also it is what it is. We're just in our gardening era. Yeah, we're in our mum gardening I would say it.
SPEAKER_01You're a hypocrite.
SPEAKER_02Why? Because you said on like I saw two or three of them. I know, I know, and you came into the phone with lace. I did. Do you know who actually um influenced me on that? Olivia Keeler. Didn't she? I mean she's fabulous, isn't she? But she posted like these the shorts that I wore, but she posted them on Instagram, and I was like, that outfit is so cool. You could dress it up, you could dress it down. I was like, I'm here for that. And I was like, Do you know what? Okay, I've got some of the brown ones from Zara and like someone like that really nice before I went on holiday.
SPEAKER_01And I just don't know if I feel confident to wear them that I feel like I'm wearing my pajamas.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, do you know what? Like when I got them when I they got delivered, it was like new drama, and I was like, well no, actually. But I do have the exact same pairing pajamas. But I think I'd be still a bit nervous to go out in them in terms of like if I didn't cash it down, so obviously I'd worn it with a t-shirt, and I think that's where my comfort zone is with that at the minute. It has to be with a really casual tee. I think the thing like and this is what I found this week being back on holiday.
SPEAKER_01That stuff that I wore on holiday, I was really confident wearing on holiday. Whereas then I've liked had like yesterday when I had in that outfit and I was like, God, it's very booby. Oh, you looked great. Do you know like weird on holiday you can just wear shit, but you just can't wear here.
SPEAKER_02So I also think on holiday you can wear wear way more see-through things because you just put your bikini on underneath and you bounce an eyelid. Yeah, because like with those shorts, I'd wore them on holiday and it felt fine wearing them. But then when you wore them in the salon, I was thinking, God, my anything way too short to be able to wear in the salon. No, but they're not. Yeah, like that, girl. Yeah, I mean I have a massive bruise on my leg, which was not great for the shorts, so I think they just slightly covered it. What people have asked me though is if they want a ghost updater. I think more activity been going on. So, or is it a winter ghost?
SPEAKER_01She's very seasonal.
SPEAKER_02Um I think that it's the ghost of Christmas. Yeah, I don't think that.
SPEAKER_01Um so ghostwise, Delilah has started pulling her hair out again recently.
SPEAKER_02So, and she's still not sleeping. It's gonna go. Yeah, um, but we do have a sleep control incoming today with us for three days from Sunday to the house. We're hopeful, aren't we, that she's gonna just have a random idea. Yeah, um, because if uh she does manage to get this child asleep, then I will just think, oh maybe there wasn't a guy. There I did hear something on the night that we got back off holiday. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That I wasn't actually back. Yeah, oh no.
SPEAKER_02But I I feel I haven't been back yet enough yet to know to note it. Yeah. Maybe they've really enjoyed it being there. Maybe maybe it's like do you remember that movie with the others?
SPEAKER_01No. It's like having a cold pigment in it, and all the way through the movie you think that the house is haunted, and then right at the end of the movie you find out that she actually killed herself and her two kids, and they're the ghosts, and the people in the house are the real are the people in the house in her own house.
SPEAKER_02Maybe that's well you're not the dead one. No, you're not you know, you're alive. Well, I know that, but she's alive, yeah. But I'm just saying, like maybe the ghost how they get there. Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, she wouldn't be really alive, but yeah, yeah. Yeah, they don't realise that they're gonna say maybe and weird that F like sleep's fine now, not in her room.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's weird.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm really interested to see what a sleep consultant says about like the room set up now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, great. So she comes next week because they're by the next body we're actually about to update on the sleep consultant. She loves a podcast as well. She'd love that. I might be actually sure. Any questions, guys, regarding sleep? Adults or children or go. Not go. Yeah, not go.
SPEAKER_00Um but yeah, if you've got adults or children, if you've got sleeping uh issues, send them in and we'll get uh in on the podcast to talk to us about sleep.
SPEAKER_02I could be eye sleep gray, so I mean I have no problem. And you always have slept grey. Always let great. I just remember like when we were teenagers when we had to go on like a course or whatever. I'd be like, no, I and she would just go straight to sleep and throw your leg over me. Yeah. And I have to touch somebody. You do, I know you do. If I'm in bed with a friend or my husband, like I have to have contact. So with my kids to be fair. I think if I'm on my own, it's fine. But I think if somebody is with me, I have to know they're there. I know you probably stay in me. I know. I do love a cuddle though. You love a cuddle. I'm a very cuddly girl. I'm actually not in like I do cuddle you're. I cuddle GF today on Tuesday. Exactly. I don't care if I'll give you a cuddle every day. I'm not that cuddly. I was gonna say you don't even like what's probably why I don't do it. Yeah, that's why my grandma on my dad's side is hilarious, she flinches if you cuddle her. I'm not as bad as that, but I don't love a cuddle. You don't love a cuddle. But you need a cuddle when you're sad. Uh yeah, and if I'm sad, then I need a cuddle. But also it'll probably make me cry if you cuddle.
SPEAKER_00You've been a little emotional girl recently, haven't you?
SPEAKER_01Just like the waterworks have been because I'm very in touch with my emotions now, don't I?
SPEAKER_02It's because you're in your gardening moment. It is fucking fuel.
