In this episode we will be joined by brother Trey and pastor Sam Garza. We will be speaking on how being consistent will lead you to success in your walk with Christ.
Alrighty guys, welcome back to the fifth episode of our podcast. So today we have Lucas praying with us. Go ahead and pray, Lucas.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, God, for King Safe. We help those who are sick. We love those who need our help. And we pray for our aunts, dads, moms, sisters, and ourselves, and our grandmas and grandpas. Amen.
SPEAKER_05Amen. Alrighty, guys. Welcome back to the fifth episode of the podcast. Today we'll be talking about the consistency to success. I want to start this off with the verse, 1 Corinthians 15, 58. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. So I want to introduce myself. My name is Victor. I have Trey.
SPEAKER_03And then Sam. Pastor Sam. And of course, Pete Gonzalez with the men's group. Just to kind of open it up, like we always do, Pastor and Trey. One of the reasons that we we figured for the podcast and like for some of our listeners that have been tuning in, it's for the we try to target the people who are kind of nervous about entering a church, right? Like, especially, you know, of course, we're targeting men, but like we get some people, kind of like what me and Pastor Chris talked about on the radio video of a few days ago, right? Like how the the world right now, and we know that's the enemy, has a an agenda to make it like, hey, the church is gonna be judgmental, the church is gonna be this and that, you can't dress like that, you can't look like that. So this podcast is to reach those men, you know, sure. To like, hey, we're regular people too, right? Right and uh, you know, be comfortable in what you're you're in, you know, right? No, the situation you're in because God's gonna change that around, you know. And so that's kind of just so y'all know, you know, what will we kind of target, you know, for the podcast, you know. But I know Brother Vic has uh a topic for today, man. We'll let we'll let him bring that in with that topic. Yes.
SPEAKER_05So we're gonna do consistency to success. And I think it takes a lot of like you got to be consistent with everything you do, especially in your word, because as we were talking before, you get trials, tribulations, you get all these things. And if you're not consistent in your prayer and your Bible and your reading and all that, it will shake you, it will, you know, it will disturb your peace. And I think it is really like something strong that you have to have to get to that end goal that you plan on reaching.
SPEAKER_06Sure. Would you like to add anything, Pastor Steph? Yeah, I just uh want to just uh share with y'all what the Lord has laid in my heart towards this topic. One of the things that that uh I want to share with y'all, number one, is this in order for us to be consistent in whatever area that we're trying to fulfill in our lives, because I believe that all of us, you know, we want to succeed. It can be marriage, it can be career, it can be a job, it can be your finances, it can be your your children, whatever, whatever area that you're you're aiming at, getting closer to the Lord. Your weight. Your weight, you know, your weight. You have to realize that we have to identify aspects of our behavior that requires change. And many times, because who who knows us better than anybody besides the Lord? Us. We know we know what we need to do. You know, I was sharing with the board just a while ago, and that was this, is that as Paul Paul said, the things I want to do, yet I don't do, but the things I should do, I don't do. And the thing is this, is that we have to realize that we cannot procrastinate and say, Well, I'll deal with that tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03That's right. That's a big category.
SPEAKER_06You know, I uh you have to be consistent in what you're doing. Because here's the thing we wait till some something happens, and then that's when we say, I would change. Yeah, and the thing is that why wait when something happens, you know, especially if it's your you know, health-wise, mental, your family or or finances, you know, whatever area. Why wait? We have to be ready. And then David says this right here. David says in Psalms 139, and this this is something I I taught this in class the other day. And the thing is this I I told the class, I said, Don't don't pray this prayer if you're not reading to see a change. Because the thing is this, is that God is gonna begin to show you areas of your life that need require change. And the Bible says here in Psalms 139, he told David, David said this search my my my God and know my heart, and test me and know if there's anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me into the way of everlasting.
SPEAKER_03Amen. Search me. Yeah, he's asking him to come inside me and cleanse you, cleanse me. You know, Pastor, like what you just said about what was it, Paul. About, you know, he says I do what I I don't do what I want to do, but the things that I don't want to do, I do. Yeah see that that goes back to like our viewers that are listening, bro. Paul was 100% on fire for Christ. I mean, up into death, right? Right. So if even he can kind of fall and admit, like, man, there's times I mess up. Why do I keep messing up? Yep, right? And he's a man 100% for the Lord. So how much more us? Sure. We're not even that on fire like Paul, right? Because Paul is, man. You read about Paul, he's man, he's on a whole nother level, right? So if he can fall, how much more us?
SPEAKER_06Exactly.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? So we gotta be careful with that, like you said, and we have to, instead of waiting for tomorrow, try our best to do it today, right?
SPEAKER_01To add to that, Peter, is like, you know, when we we do mess up, not to, you know, just go with it and say, hey, like, hey, we're gonna continue to mess up too. True. Like we're like, hey, I screwed up once. I'm you know what, that's me. I'm just a screw up, so I'm gonna continue to just be a screw up. True then. That's true. So we've got to remember and be consistent with the word and know that yeah, we may fail, but you know, we can come out of it, you know, with the word and prayer and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_03Because words have words have weight, right? Like what you just said, well, I messed up. You know what? This is who I am. You know what? I'm gonna be like this forever. No, because if you say that, you're confessing it. Right. And you got the devour listening to, you know. Just you're admitting that and just gonna hold on to that. He's gonna, hey, remember, you you're you're a screw up. Remember, right? You can't get it right.
SPEAKER_01As much as we think the enemy is in hell, no, he's out in this world communicating in every kind of way, you know, to try to get to us and and through our ear and our mind to speak those words. That's right. That's right, man.
SPEAKER_06One of the areas that that the Lord showed me because you know one of the things that that, you know, as y'all are aware of it, is that anytime that you taught teacher on the topic, God's gonna challenge you first before you speak, you know, or teach on it. And one of the areas that that I went through when I started uh studying this was that the change that I had to do was that I had to learn from my mistakes. I mean, because many times what happens with a lot of people is that we don't learn from our mistakes and we repeat ourselves over and over and over again. And one of the things that we have to learn and and and in this area where I had to learn is that patience. Patience. You know, learn learn from not getting ahead of myself and learn that when the Lord says no, because many times we we think that God says yes for everything. Yeah but he's also a God that says no. Yeah, that's right. You know, your children, if you're telling them, you know, if they if you if you give them everything where they want it, can you imagine how how it will be? Spoiled brats. And I know it's hard on y'all that to say no to them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is tough because it's tough. That's one of the hardest things. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And see, and and and that's one of the hardest things that we as children are the most high, when God tells us yes, yes, but then when he says no, do you still love him? Do you still love them? Do you still take you? Yep.
SPEAKER_03Are you still consistent with that love, right? Do you still love him? We kind of spoke on that too, right? Pastor Furman told us that he says love is not a feeling. It's it's see, the world perverts everything, which we know the world is is is run by Satan, right? Or he's a ruler there. So he perverted that word love too, right? Yep. He pervert he perverted it to the point of love is now a feeling. Well, if I feel like I don't love you, well then I'm not, I don't love you, right? I don't I don't feel that for you. But he was like, love is a choice. Just like, and it stuck on my heart when he said that, because I was like, it's right, because what did they say about Jesus? When he was being crucified and beaten and spit on, he still said, uh Father, uh you know, forgive them for what they do. But the Bible also says there was not an evil thought in his mind, right, about revenge, right? So Jesus wasn't feeling like, hey, I love these people. No, it was a thought, like, hey, I made up my mind, even though they're gonna do this to me, I'm still gonna love them, right? So then it goes back to that. And so if God doesn't answer that prayer, right, whatever it may be, you know, new house, because we always want, right? Whether new house, new car, a better job, whatever, if he doesn't answer that, are you still gonna wake up and choose to love him, choose to follow him? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and and then the second thing that I want to share with y'all, this is this is man, this is real heavy. No, number two is this is we got to stop making excuses or justifying your lack of change. Yep. Yep. Oh, yeah. You know, I I don't change because you know this just the way we are.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, here's the thing. Who who told you that? Yeah, you understand what I'm saying? Who told you that? Because God says that you're you're a child of the king, okay? You're a child of the most high. Yeah, and and then, and then the thing is this, is that there's every excuses, you know. I can just imagine. I mean, we we come up with all kinds of excuses. That's right. You know, and the Lord's saying, Man, I already know you, yeah, and yet you're still coming up with these excuses. Yep.
SPEAKER_03Trying to justify your actions. Yeah. And right, men, men have uh, I know I do, you're right. We got we got a bit of an ego. You don't want to admit stuff, right? Yeah, you got a little bit of a yeah, you're like, no, I'm gonna be right on this one, you know. So yeah. Oh, you know, we we we we fall for that, man.
SPEAKER_06And here's the thing, uh and this that this area that the Lord really, really shook me up, you know, because you know, now that you said, you know, as men, God, God's told me, He said, okay, whose marriage this marriage is it? Is it your marriage or is it my marriage?
SPEAKER_03That's right, right?
SPEAKER_06Oh, that should be heavy. That's heavy because I was like, I was like, I was I was I wanted to change my wife, but I wanted to change some things in my wife. But the thing is this, is that the Lord's telling me, I'm the only one that can change her. You're trying to change her by buying her this, buying her that, giving her this, giving her that. You can't you can't, yeah, you know, only the Lord can do those things, and the Lord really shook me up on that area of my of my personal life, you know, because first of all, I asked the Lord, search me. Yeah, yeah, okay, and then second of all, I was trying to justify and make excuses, you know. But the thing is this, is that who knows, you know, the Bible says right there in Psalms 139, it says that when God made us, He made He fearfully, wonderfully made us, and He placed everything in a proper area of our lives. Amen. Yeah, every area of our lives, you're not a mistake.
SPEAKER_03And it was ordained, right? It was ordained, it was ordained to happen. Right? Amen. Amen. Yeah, that is that that's pretty deep, man, because you know, Pastor, I think that's why a lot of divorce happens, right? Because what you just said, we try to change the our wife, right? We try to change, we try to change them, and and at the end of the day, we can't, right? And what is the most important thing is leave it in God's hands, pray for it. But again, there it goes again, right? Are you gonna choose to still wake up and love her, right? Choose to still wake up and be faithful because God hasn't answered that prayer yet, right? And what you just said, we will we uh the and when a lot of men don't do this, right? Well, what is my problem? Right, maybe she's reacting off of something that I'm acting, right? Like search me, right? And yeah, we don't want that part, right?
SPEAKER_02No, there's nothing wrong with me.
SPEAKER_03It's her, it's her, right? So I've been married too, so I know, I know.
SPEAKER_06Because one of the things that we that we do, and now I'm just I'm just laying on know what what I've gone through. You know, we have a hectic day. Okay, work, then go the way, you know, because we we we we have our plan because we as men, okay, this is the way the work's gonna be, and everything, and then when it doesn't go exactly the way you you think it's gonna go, then you get home, then your wife already has a list of chores for you to do. Okay, and the thing is this is that okay, and then and then they start talking to you, but you're you're at the point that when you get home, you just you shut everything off, zone down, right? Yeah, zone down, and then you know, my wife was talking to me the other day, and and she knew I was just brushing her off, and then all of a sudden she said, repeat everything, but I just said yeah, uh wait a minute.
SPEAKER_02There was a lot said, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06You go first, and then I'll grab and the thing is this is that you cannot be saying, Yeah, yeah, and many many times, and this is another area where God shook me up. We tell we tend to do that with the Lord.
SPEAKER_05Yep, yeah, that's the big one. He gives us our signs, he gives us our things that oh yeah, I'll do it, but then and we say yeah, yeah, Lord, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But the Lord's saying, quit saying yeah, and do it, and just do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, be of action.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, because how many know? I mean, y'all know this, that that uh actions speak louder than words. That's true, bro. That is true though.
SPEAKER_01And I think that's a really good base of to being consistent is action. Yeah, you can talk and talk and talk, talk. But to in order to be consistent and have success in that, you have to be all about action. So that's true. You know, it's all about the be the behavior, you know, it's a pattern. That's true, man. That's true.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because a lot of us like, yeah, we'll brush that off, right? Like, yeah, do it in a little bit, and that little bit never comes, right? It don't never come because but you know, I I feel that on that, Sam. That's happened to me, and I'm sure that's happened to a lot of people listening now, a lot of men, right? You you have the day planned out, something don't go right, and that's it, man. It's it's a train wreck after that, right?
SPEAKER_05Everything seems to go wrong after that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it does, right? And then you don't want to take it out on your your wife, right? But I think with without knowing consciously, I think you did do it, right? Because like you just said, you you zoned her out, you're really not listening. Everything's just like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like you're almost telling her to be quiet without telling her to be quiet, right? Right. And it's not her fault that your day went crummy, right? That you know, that's that's one of those deals that, yeah, we we we tend to do that without even knowing it. Because I've done that myself, right? You know, and and I'm pretty sure every man out there listening has done that. But it goes back to consistency, right? You know, we we gotta be consistent in that love, right? It's that's why they they call it agape love, right? And it's a love that it's not deserving, but you're gonna you're gonna get it anyways, right? They're gonna give it to you, man. It's perfect, man.
SPEAKER_06Then the third thing that that the Lord laid in my heart, you know, as I was studying this, is it says judge less and love more.
SPEAKER_02That's a hard one, bro. Yeah, very hard. Very, very hard. Very hard, man.
SPEAKER_01It's hard to judge and love at the same time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is. It is. You can't do both, right? You gotta choose one or the other.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, choose one. You know, and and and uh I share that with y'all because you know, it's like it's going back to what I was telling y'all that you know, you you talk about these things, but yet the Lord's gonna put you through those those testings that in your life. And we went to go eat the other day with my niece. My niece, she has some rough feathers, and she had a rough childhood life, and and uh, and the way she was just back talking to her grandma was getting under my skin.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, yeah, and I was like, oh my God.
SPEAKER_06The Lord was he, I mean, the Lord knows your heart. Yeah, right, yeah, he knew what you were saying, and the Lord was telling me, because he knew I was boiling boiling inside of me. You know, we all going through that, you know. Oh, yeah, all inside of me. But as soon as he said, just stop talking, I'm gonna let her have it. And the Lord, the Lord told me, He said, be quiet. That was tough, right? Oh man, that was tough. Yep. He said, Show more love. Right. I said, Lord, show more love, but how how can this be? She's being disrespectful. And then then the Lord told me, He goes, How do you think I felt when my people turned their back on me? It's true. The whole nation.
SPEAKER_02The whole nation's oh yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I said, Lord, you're always right, man.
SPEAKER_02That's true.
SPEAKER_06And the thing is this, is that I had to learn how to, in that situation, I learned that I cannot be judged my niece because the way she was brought up, the way she went through and everything. I mean, that just it's just bad choices on behalf of her father. And now, and I'm not you know mad at him or throwing the things at him, but the thing is this, is that she needs love. Exactly. That's the only way to count. And that's the only way to you know uh demonstrate that torture uh to see a change within their lives, but they have to see that in us. That's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_03You know, I had uh speaking on that subject, Pastor, and I had heard this one time on a sermon, and I think you're familiar with man, what is his name? Jonathan Kahn. Yes, yes. And he brought up the one of the commandments that said that shall thou shalt not kill, right? And we think that that right off the bat means murder, right?
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03But he says, though it also stands for murderous words. He says, when you're judging people, talking about them, he says, you're you're murdering their character. That's right. And you're murdering their character for the people, the audience around you. Yeah you know, and and that goes to that because he started giving examples like that, which you're saying, you're you're kind of like maybe with co-workers or or family members, right? Right. And you're just like, man, this person this and this person that disrespectful. I mean, I could never, I could never, I could never, right? And he's all like, those are murderous words. He was like, You're murdering their character. And he was like, and the commandments tell us, right, you know, it's just that we look at it like, how do you say it? Not not vaguely, but like, man, I'm trying to think of that word, but like where you just read it and you're just like, oh, murder, oh, I'm not a murderer, I haven't murdered anybody, right? Or yeah, it's not just talking about physical murder, it's like a spiritual murder, right? You're you're judging, you're passing judgment, and then that's putting us in the judgment seat, right? And we don't belong there, you know. That's right. That's right. Yeah, yeah. So that's that's kind of something to think about, guys, when you're with that co-worker, right? Around that co-worker or family member that just can't really you can't get along with it's better to hold your tongue.
SPEAKER_06And it says that that Matthew 22, 37, 39 says, uh, you must love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and y'all know that with all your heart, soul, mind, and and spirit. And then he said, but he says the second one is even more equally important, and that is to love your neighbor as yourself, as yourself, yeah. Man, yeah, love people. In other words, and then Matthew tells us in the book of Matthew, he says, bless those that curse you.
SPEAKER_03And that's hard. Yeah, that is tough. That is very hard.
SPEAKER_05I think Pastor Kerry that did a sermon about uh washing how Jesus washed Jesus Judas's feet. Yeah, would you wash the feet of your Judas of who betrayed you?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that is hard. Yeah, that's that would be real hard.
SPEAKER_06That's a strong word. This is one thing that that the Lord really uh pointed out to my life is that if you have a hard time uh loving people, then you're not spending enough time with God. Amen. Because if you if you if you love people regardless of how they are and and how they act and so forth, then you're spending enough time with the Lord. Yeah, and the thing, because I've heard Christians, you know, I've heard people say, and I'm not trying to be ugly about this, but they say comments like, Oh, I cannot stand that person. I can't I mean God Jesus says that that he loves so so much the world that he gave his only begotten son to the whole world. Well the whole world. That that means that means for Hitler. That's right. You know, he died for just him, even though what he did. Now if we repented, God forgives. That's right. That's right. But here's the thing we judge oh man, he A terrible person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, but his his blood was for Hitler also. And his blood is for everything. You know, we heard about that deal with Jeffrey Dahmer, right? When they did that whole uh documentary on him on Netflix, yeah, yeah. And then it came out that at the very end he gave his life to the Lord. And people were like, Do you think he's in heaven? And we're like, Well, if he truly repented, well, yeah, Jesus' blood was for him too. It doesn't matter what we think, what he did, right? It was it was for him also. You know, so that's that's very important. That is a good strong point. Yeah, very, very heart issue. Yeah, it is. It's goes back to the story to Samaritan, too, right? You know, it's easy to love those who love you, but love those who who don't love you. Right. You know, that that and that's that's what that story spells out for us, you know, is is you know, the the Samaritan everybody looked down on, he he's the one that had the real heart posture. That's right. And he stopped and he helped. That's right. But yet the Christian and the what what was he, the pastor, he kind of stepped aside. It was like religious person. The religious person kind of like, yep, I'm not touching him. But it took the so-called worldly person to to go actually help, right? That's right. Go help, you know what I mean? So we gotta always remember that that that story.
SPEAKER_06And here's here's the next one that that really you know it's shakes. The Bible says that that his word is like a hammer. Yep. You know, and and it it it it if when you hit something with a hammer, it shatters. Well, guess what? When we we read God's word, it shatters our hearts. Yeah, and the number four is this, is that we have to take your thoughts captive. Yeah, that's another tough one. Very tough. It says we take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06And are are you gonna be thinking that way? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it you know, it's it's like for instance, you can put yourself out there in a situation wherever you're you're going through, and and and you know, you have your your uh at work, uh your family, uh at a baseball field, it can be anywhere. And all of a sudden you realize that these thoughts just come in because you start hearing. You know, you know how the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word, but guess what? That principle also applies to the word, yes, but it also applies to our lives when we hear negativity.
SPEAKER_03That's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_06And and many times what happens is that we have to learn, we cannot allow those words to penetrate into our hearts, no, we can't, into our minds, because yeah, we when you hear stuff, comments, you know, when because I've heard it, you know, oh, I cannot stand that person. Oh they get on my nerves. You can't you can't you can't you can't be voicing those things, yeah. Or where where did that thought come from?
SPEAKER_03That's right. It's it was hidden in there somewhere. It was hidden somewhere. It's a constant battle food in your mind.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you have to learn how to pull those things out. Yeah, you know, so like like Pastor Jason said this past Wednesday, he said we have to prune those things.
SPEAKER_03That's a good word, that's a good word for it. Yeah, so speaking on that, I don't mean to cut you off, but speaking on that, right? What do you what would you think about like social media right now with controlling our thoughts, right? If if if we're getting more social media, because it's everywhere, right? There's all sorts of platforms, right? Yeah, and it's forming our opinions. So you can usually tell, like you just said, hey, when they say I can't stand that person, you feel like a lot of that comes from social media because it forms a lot of people's minds, right? It's heavily right. You get in more social media than you're getting your your word in, right? And and I kind of wanted to ask y'all, you know, you and Trey, what do y'all think about that? You know, like what is y'all's opinions on that, right? On the Well, here's the thing.
SPEAKER_06My opinion is this is that if you're spending more time on social media, but less time on the word, yeah. That's gonna direct your life. Yeah, that's gonna direct your life. That's true, that's true. Yeah, and and it's so easy. Oh my god, it is so easy to say, well, Lord, you just have to understand what I'm going through.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06We cannot make excuses, man.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. There's nothing that you're going through that can lead you to your phone rather than your Bible. True, exactly. That's what you're going through. You should want to go to that Bible instead, then to go to the phone and see what's going on in the world and see. Two talk has to say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06So you got first of all, this this is me. Okay, you have to be careful. You can if you love the Lord your God with everything you have, yeah. And I'm not speaking just on Sundays and Wednesdays. Yes, I'm talking about every day. You have to spend time in God's word.
SPEAKER_03Consistency.
SPEAKER_06Because consistent, because who knows you better? That's right.
SPEAKER_01You, you, yep, you. Because if you're not consistent in the word and you go to social media, yeah, like we said, that's gonna direct your life, and then that's gonna go way down a rabbit hole that you don't want to go down. Yep, yeah, yep. And it's gonna be hard to get yourself poured out of that.
SPEAKER_05Poured out. Yeah, yeah, then you're gonna start judging people because oh well, this person has so many followers and this is what they say, and yeah, you're gonna start basing it off of what they say and not what the Lord says in the word. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And their success, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, and I actually I was I was ministering to it. It's a friend of mine has been for he's he's been a friend of mine for years, right? And then uh ministered to him. I'm kind of glad I've always had, right? And then one day he he reached, well, yes, Friday, he reached out to me and he goes, bro, what do you think? I'm not gonna go into the topic, right? But he talked about like the aliens, how everybody's talking about aliens and all that, right? Right. Which I got my opinion on that, right? And I think us sitting here, we know what it is, right?
SPEAKER_04Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_03But he said that about social media. He goes, Well, there's this podcaster, and I won't say his name either. He was just like, and he has a lot of followers. Very, I mean, he was famous before podcasts, right?
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03And he was all like, uh, and I told him, I go, Look, you gotta watch out for him because first of all, he's an atheist. And so anything he says right off the bat is gonna be con, you know, contradicting the word. Yeah, and he goes, Well, no, man, he proclaimed he's a Christian now. And I was like, Look, bro, a lot of people proclaim in this world, but he just got I had to break it down to him, right? Because he's not biblically sound, right? Right at all. So he I told him, I was like, the Bible tells us there's gonna be a lot of people, sheep's and wolves, wolves and sheep's clothing, right? And I was like, they're not really Christians. You can say you're Christian all day long and just be saying everything, you know, directing people wrong and all this. You gotta be careful, like you said, what you listen to. Yep. And and this guy was like, Oh, okay, I get it now. And so when I started breaking it down to him, it started opening his mind. But let's just say there's a whole bunch of people out there that are not friends, right, with a true believer. They can guide them, right, to say, like, hey, be careful what he says, because he's really not who he says he is, right? Yep. And there's a lot of listeners out there who don't have that, so they're gonna be deceived by that, right? I'm a Christian and this is what I say, and you're gonna just lead a lot of people astray. You know, that's why it's consistency in the Bible, you know, so you can pick that up, have that discernment, right? Like, yeah, this guy's not speaking right.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, something's wrong. Yeah, that's why you have to have uh accountability. Yep, you have to have a covering.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_06Many times, many people, the reason why they don't have a covering is because they don't want nobody to know their business. That's true. And we have to put our pride away, man. People, you know, have the mentality to say, well, this this is my family, and nobody's gonna tell me how to run my family, and and and I don't know what I'm doing. Well, be careful. That's true, bro. Because that's what happened to Gabriel, man. I mean, Michael, I mean, he he wanted to be like God, man, and God says, no, you cannot be like me, man. Yeah, you know, and so you have to be careful and how you say it. The thing is, this is that who are you hanging out with, and who are you allowing to speak to your life, man? Because there's a lot of false things in social media, man.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh, man, families, you know, they have it all together, but do they really?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they're behind the scenes, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06And AI, AI is huge on their mind. You have to be careful, you have to be careful, man, because how do you know that Apple is spoiled even though the red is shining from the outside beautiful? You take a bite into it, you're like, yeah, yeah. That is true. So that answered your question, brother Peter. The question that you asked. Yes, sir, it did. It sure did.
SPEAKER_05I want to add to the keeping your mind held captive. So a while back, that was something that I battled with. That, you know, oh man, like not I never really cared for what other people thought, but it was more of my mindset, like, dang, look at them, how they're living, you know, look at this, look at that. And one verse that's always it's stuck with me is Philippians 4.8. I can't name it by name, but he says not to think on negative things, not to think on anything that would bring you down, to think on the holiness, to think on him. And when you add that to your life and you like bring it anywhere, you take it to work and you think on like, oh man, you know, I'm blessed because I have a job. I get I get to go to work and just start thinking about your blessings rather than what you don't have. What you don't, yeah. Yeah, it really does change your moods daily. It changes the way you like move throughout the day. Like how we were talking about earlier, how you go home and you're already mad because something happened at work.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Now, if you go home and you're like, oh, you know what? Now I get to come home to my family that God's blessed me with, and your whole mood's gonna change, and you're gonna walk in with, you know, hey, let's go, let's go play rather than oh man, this guy met pissed me off earlier, and I don't I don't know. I don't even want to do nothing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I think and that verse really I kept that consistent in my mind that it really did change like the whole scene view on everything. And it I think that's a really strong verse to you know stick with if you do have that problem with mindsets.
SPEAKER_03And it ties in with covetedness, right? Not to covet what the next person has, right? Like, hey, well, they gotta they got it all together. Why don't I have it together? Right. So and like Sam said, they probably don't. Right.
SPEAKER_01Like you said, Victor, being consistent, you know, going back to that. You don't have to be perfect, there's no perfect way of getting into the word. Yeah, you don't have to spend hours and hours and hours. And it's like what you told me, Peter, is just be consistent and read, just you know, it can be one verse at a time, one chapter at a time. And that's what's gonna help you and any of us battle those, you know, those thoughts like that, you know, you know, comparing and and all that stuff. But just being consistent and and read getting into the word just little by little is gonna go a long way.
SPEAKER_03That's true. Amen. Prayer, right? Prayer. That's right. One one one crazy statistic that I heard like about two two weeks ago was an important thing, you know. And me and my wife, we started it. The pastor had that uh Pastor Furman sent me, you know, a sermon on marriage, and it was only four percent, bro. This is crazy. Four percent of Christian men or church men, only four percent pray with their wives. Only four percent, bro. And he was like, then that's like the most important thing you can do is pray with your wife, right? So that's alarming that only four percent, and it's not talking about four percent of the world, it's four percent of Christian men. Only four percent praise pray with their wives, right? So, you know, it's kind of something me and my wife we we started doing, right? Because, you know, we have our little issues and stuff like anybody else. And it was like when I heard that, I was like, wow man, it's only four percent, right? Like it shook you up. Yeah, it shook me up. Like, wow, we we that's the main ingredient, and most of us are not doing it. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I'm gonna be honest, we we uh that's something I'm inconsistent with. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and so here here of late, I've been trying to be very consistent on you know, making sure that we we you know, I pray with my wife. Yeah, so yeah. I mean, uh that's I want to be part of that four percent.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Yes. And uh like he and it brought it brought it to my mind because when you said about that, you know, start off small, whatever, and that's what the guy said. He goes, It doesn't have to be no crazy lengthy prayer. He goes, can be a two-minute prayer at the beginning. He goes, but you'll be astounded how how as you keep doing it consistent, that time will grow. That's right. Right. He goes, it'll it'll turn into a 30-minute prayer for and you won't even realize it, right? But it just starts at the beginning, small, you know, a minute, two minutes, one minute, two minute. He goes, but don't ever stop doing it. And then one day, and that's what my that's exactly what my wife said when we started, she goes, Don't pray long because I don't know. I was like, No, we're not gonna stay text, and that's another so I was like, Yeah, no, we we we started all small too.
SPEAKER_06Well, yeah, I mean it goes back to that script scripture which says that the man that finds a wife finds favor in the eyes of the Lord.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06Well, well, the same principle applies to our lives that a man that prays with his wife stays together in marriage. Amen. You know, and so so and many times it and it happens to a lot of us is that we wait, we wait until something happens, and then that's when we start to pray. Why wait? Do it now, do it now, man. To avoid what's up with him. Yeah, because the enemy, the enemy, I mean, he's ready to his main target is to destroy marriages. Destroy because why? Once he gets the marriages, he gets the children, and then what happens? A strong not having a strong family is not having a strong church.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06Yep, amen. And then not having a strong church, not having a strong country. Yep. So you know it goes on, and the enemy knows exactly what he's doing. But the thing is that we have to learn how to take those thoughts into captivity. You know, and the last thing I want to share, because I know time is wrapping up, is uh be persistent. Yeah, that's true. Be persistent, be persistent in what you're doing, man, no matter what. Don't be slothful, right? Don't be slothful. Yeah, don't it's so easy to to just throw in the towel. I mean, yeah. Uh I mean, I mean, yeah, y'all, y'all know the movie Rocky man, it's just amazing that uh that man, he he got beat up some so bad, but yet he still got up. Still got up, kept going. And that's the way we gotta be, man. I mean, it doesn't matter how many problems come our way, because there's a there's a scripture that says here, it says in Galatians chapter six, it says, um, it says in 6.9, it says, let us not become weary in doing good. Yeah, that's easy to do that. So easy. Yeah, you know, especially, you know, if we we we give in to what what everybody else is doing. I I I I'm sorry, but uh I I made a decision a long time ago that I'm not gonna stoop to the level of what people want me to be. Yeah, I'm not. Yeah, I'm I'm gonna be what God called me to be. Amen. And so it says and uh for the proper time you will reap a harvest if you do not give up.
SPEAKER_03Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_06Now here's a here's a question that you have to ask yourself is this how how big of a harvest do you want? That's right. You can have a small harvest. How many seeds are you willing to plant? Or you can have a medium harvest, or you can have a huge harvest.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's true.
SPEAKER_03What are you willing to endure, right? What are you willing to push through? What are you willing to push through?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you gotta push yourself through whatever obstacle that you're confronting within your life.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because you agree, Pastor, like have you ever been in that season, like where you're like, I'm doing good, I'm doing good. Like, like, and when I say I'm doing good, I don't mean like you're making money, but I mean like you're like you're you're encountering problems, and okay, no, no, no. I'm with the Lord, I'm with the Lord, I'm with the Lord, I'm doing right, I'm treating people right, I'm treating people right, but it's still like you're like, when's my breakthrough gonna happen? It's been months, and I'm steadily doing good.
SPEAKER_06One thing, one thing my my uh the the mentor I listen to a lot, he's already passed on, but one of the things that he said so much is that at the at the verge of our giving up. That's where it's at. That's when the breakthrough is gonna happen. No, man. That's a powerful thing. And and what happens to a lot of us is that we we we tend to lose patience right at the verge of our breakthrough. That is true. And then you lose it all. And it's just around the corner.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And you don't even know it. Like, for instance, he shared this, and I was like, you know, and it's so true. You know, we we go to an event or we go to whatever, and there's hundreds of people there. And then, you know, we we tell, okay, I'm gonna drop you off here, but away from me there, yeah, I'll park my vehicle, and when I come back, we'll find somewhere we'll go to sit at. But what happens many times is that we lose patience and we like, man, he's taking too long, man. I'm gonna go find one. I'm gonna go find a seat first. You see, and many times what happens to our lives is that we tend to do that with the Lord. Yeah, Lord, you're taking too long, man. So I I'm I might as well just find my own way and how to be successful in whatever area that I I fit, see fit that I'm gonna be able to succeed. But the thing's this is that the Lord's saying, Why did you not wait on me?
SPEAKER_03That's the hard part, is waiting, man.
SPEAKER_06And the Bible says, wait upon the Lord, he shall renew your strength. He shall mount up as wings of eagle, and you shall fly like an eagle, man.
SPEAKER_03So would you agree that that's where the enemy uses our feelings, right? Because that's all feeling, right? When you're just there like, I'm impatient, I'm ready to go, this is not going right, that your feelings, right? That that's the enemy playing on your feelings is by flesh, right? So he's playing on those feelings where the spirit man is like, no, I should wait. Yeah. But your the carcass that we're in, this flesh is like, but it's taking too long. Just go sit down, right? Like, and you don't want to wait. Yeah, yeah, that's hard.
SPEAKER_06We're impatient. Yeah. And I mean, it's it's happens to all of us. I mean, um, you're if you're looking at a person that that has it all together, you and and how do you do it just like that? It took time. I mean, it took, I mean, 39 years, me serving the Lord. I mean, when when I first started coming to this church, oh my God, I would get ahead of myself and I would lose my patience. I would get, you know, a pastor would tell me, I didn't tell you to do that. I told you to do this over here. Why are you doing that over there? I said, No, this is what we do. We say, Well, I thought that's what you wanted. Yeah, many times that's what we tell the Lord. I said, Lord, I thought that's this is what you wanted. The Lord said, No, I never told you to go over there. I told you to go over here.
SPEAKER_03Go over here, finish that, and wait, right? Yeah, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_06And Paul says it a lot. He says, After he says, put on the full armor of God, what did he say towards the end of that verse? Stand there for. Stand.
SPEAKER_03Stand stand.
SPEAKER_06Stand means no motion, no motion, wait, yeah, just wait, just stand there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true. That is so true. You gotta know how to read scripture, right? He says, stand and take those words literal, right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06And in the meantime, what he wants you to do, and this is tough because I've gone through this, I got hit hard, man. I mean, when I when I lost all my equipment, when they they stole from me almost $40,000, I'll tell you something. That was a hard blow on my stomach, man. Heart blow, man. And one of the things that when I listen to this man of God really speak to me, and I encourage y'all to listen to the the video that he has, is the joy of the Lord's strength. If the devil cannot steal your your joy, he cannot keep your goods.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06Man, during that time where they ripped off all my stuff, I didn't have no joy. I wanted to go find who did what they did to me and beat them up.
SPEAKER_03The old Sam came out.
SPEAKER_06And the Lord told me, He says, I'm trying to teach you something. You learn how to trust me.
SPEAKER_03Amen. Be patient. Yeah. That's tough. Tough.
SPEAKER_06So I went later on. Police report, police wanted a report of everything they stole. Well, guess what, guys? The Lord gave me favor with the owner where I buy all my equipment. And this is what he said. He said, I understand that you got ripped off and I feel free. But here's here's what I'm gonna do with you. Come and get everything what you want. And you when you pay me, don't put on your credit card. Just pay me directly. However much money you can give me. If it's five dollars, if it's a dollar, if it's a hundred dollars, don't put on your credit card. Just pay me directly. And I don't care how long it takes.
SPEAKER_03Wow, that's awesome. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_06Because I mean, you know, yeah, no business is gonna tell you that. No, they won't. And this is what he told me. That he saw, then that's why I'm telling y'all, people are checking you out. He told me this. He goes, I know I know people that when they come into my business, when they pay, everything goes through. But I have other people that come in and their checks bounce and I'm looking for them because you know they owe me. But when you pay me, everything goes through.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06That's that says a lot. That's more interesting.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_06You know, it's not because of me, it's because of the Lord. When you allow the Lord to teach you those things, that's when things begin to change, and other people are going to benefit. Here's the thing. People see a yearning in your life in order for them to say, Man, there's something different about that person. Yeah, there's something happening to that person. I I don't know, every time I'm around that person, it seems like, man, it's a reward.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06What what people are trying to say to our lives many times is this, is let's be real, guys. Man, every time this person comes, oh man, they just get on my nerves. Or whatever. And and the thing is that we should not be like that. We should be a blessing. That's right. Especially to God's people. The Bible says right there in Galatians, after that, it says, do it good, uh, make every opportunity good, especially to those of the house of the Lord. That's everybody. Yeah, that's everybody, man. Amen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's very strong. Man, this is powerful. You don't even want to cut it off, right? But you know, but this is an amazing one. Yeah, you want to go ahead and close this out, yes, sir. Yeah, guys. Um, Trey, Pastor Sam, we thank you for your time. And that was that was spot on for those for those listening. Thank you. Man, we thank y'all. We we pray that y'all walk a right away with something because it's powerful, especially in this time with social media and all the distractions we have, right? Yeah, we pray for consistency because we we follow it through. Like I said, the example of Apostle Paul, he's a he was a man super on fire for the for the Lord, but if he can fall for it, I mean we can too. You know, so we just gotta pray for vigilance on that, you know. So we thank y'all, we we just pray it was a blessing. And Trey again, and and I know Trey was a little nervous. This is his first time.
SPEAKER_02No, he did good. Yeah, he did real good, man. He did real good.
SPEAKER_03Pastor, as always, is it you're a big blessing? Thank you. So thank you. We thank you, and we like I said, we pray it was a blessing for you guys listening. Amen.
