Breaking down Season 1, Episode 9 of Ginny & Georgia - Featuring mirroring, is Marcus really a bad boy, cremation PTSD, love is the death of duty - huh?, goodbye Zion and we beat the penguin metaphor to death.
Her qualifications are she was a single mother with two mixed race kids. I'm Malaysian and my sister is a just like Georgia, she had me when she was super young. But my qualifications are just like Jenny, I was a moody teen.
SPEAKER_00Imogen! What? What? So good to see you. Hi. It's been forever.
SPEAKER_02I know. I know. What's going on, girl? I'm fine. It's you that's getting into fights. Now, now, now.
SPEAKER_00Life happens. We've both been very busy. Sorry, everyone, but we're back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And now we're gonna try to do this more frequently, because now my mom's she has more time.
SPEAKER_00Well, at least for four weeks I do. Yes. So we're definitely gonna get to the end of this season. Woo-hoo!
SPEAKER_02And I'm gonna and I'm gonna teach you how to edit. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, I'm rubbing my hands together. Exciting.
SPEAKER_02Okay, that's good. Uh my husband just messaged me because the last messages to me, like it's 35 degrees outside, and he was like, I can't move. I'm on the ground. I can't breathe. And then he just stopped messaging, and after a while, I was like, Am I gonna go to jail if I don't like call somebody right now? Why would you go to jail? Because he sent distress messages.
SPEAKER_00Oh dear. Yes, we are going through an unprecedented heat wave. I think this today is the hottest day on record for this date in Toronto.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's insane. It's 7 p.m. and it's still 35 degrees. I don't know what that is for American people. I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00It's hot!
SPEAKER_02They're always like, they're always like, it's a hundred degrees. I'm like, uh a hundred degrees? I mean a hundred, what is it? Fahrenheit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And I had to turn the AC off to record this. So let's do this fast.
SPEAKER_00Alright, here we go.
SPEAKER_02Okay. This is season one, episode nine, called Feelings Are Hard. See? I looked up the title like two minutes ago. Excellent. Um, yes, so Ginny is in bed awake at night, and we hear her have a monologue, and she's saying love, love is parasitic, and she doesn't trust it.
SPEAKER_00Can I just say before we get into the details, that um it has been a while since uh I watched this episode twice, and uh the first time I watched it, I didn't really like it. But then I why then I watched it again, and not that I liked it more, but I think I understood it more, and I've been trying to think about how to present this episode to everyone, and um can I just say yeah, the title is Feelings Are Hard. Um but from a writerly point of view or a director's point of view, I'm gonna say that a theme could be mirrors.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. You always think about these things way more than me.
SPEAKER_00Aren't I supposed to be a writer? Like you are a writer. Anyways, there's a lot of reflections going on, like things happening in doubles.
SPEAKER_02Okay. That's all I wrote down. Love is parasitic and she doesn't trust it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I wrote down a little bit more. Love. Everyone thinks love is so beautiful, such a fairy tale. I know better. This is 16-year-old Ginny, right? I've seen my parents and what love's done to them. Yeah, she had her sweet 16-year-old. Oh, right, remember? I forgot, I forgot. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen my parents what love's done to them. It never lets them be fully happy without the other. It never lets them separate. Love is parasitic, it's painful, and it's inconvenient. I don't trust love. I don't like what it's done what it does to people. Well, we talked about this last episode, this whole idea of um it never lets them be fully happy without the other. Did we really see that between Georgia and Zion?
SPEAKER_02We saw the opposite.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No? Well, we weren't convinced. We weren't convinced. Anyways. Okay. In my notes, I also said that during this uh voiceover, Jinny's obsessively looking at her cell phone.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I said we assume her we see her texting somebody, I assume, is Marcus. And she sent like a million messages. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And Georgia comes in the room, and we find out we know that Marcus had that accident and he's going into a CAT scan. And I was kind of like, this happened on Gilmer Girls too, where Logan cheated on Rory, and then he she's really mad, but then he falls off a cliff. As one does. And well, his parachute doesn't open, and then sh that's when she has this whole awakening, like I could have lost you. But in this scenario, Marcus didn't really do anything to Jenny. There was nothing to repent. It was just Jenny being a jerk. So maybe it makes it makes more sense in this context, maybe. Accident as plot device. And then Jenny hears a car door open and she rushes to the window where she sees Marcus all banged up, returning home. I forget if Marcus sees her seeing him, but I don't think that he does.
SPEAKER_00Because I wrote down they make eye contact. And then the voiceover comes over and says, Love, it's up, it's down, it's easy, it's hard. It's a mother F. And so much like this idea of binaries, up, down, easy, hard, right? This is what I'm talking about, this mirroring.
SPEAKER_02It's very um You just said it's very, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I know that's me too. I know.
SPEAKER_02That's how I explain stuff too.
SPEAKER_00It's well, I was gonna say that's very yin and yang, right? It's like the opposites of each other. And so I I guess the mirroring is not what I mean by that, because that's not the opposite. When we get to it, I'll explain what the mirroring in my mind means.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Georgia comes out of the shower drying her hair, and Zion is just there in bed shirtless. And at this point, I was like, doesn't she have a boyfriend?
SPEAKER_00I just don't understand. Apparently, it's part of this attraction that they can't seem to break towards each other, which we don't uh I don't know. Again, we weren't convinced last time. I wasn't totally convinced this time either.
SPEAKER_02And Georgia won't change in front of Zion.
SPEAKER_00So they do talk about Marcus. Georgia just stands there with the towel around her and stares at Zion and kind of like, well, come on. Unspoken expectation. And then Zion says, Did you write this down?
SPEAKER_02Uh, I no, I wrote down this is your pattern, you're gonna ignore my calls for eight months.
SPEAKER_00I emotionally understand this, but I don't I'm not convinced in this exchange. Cause oftentimes people that have attachment issues will sever the bond with someone, like reject someone first before they will be rejected. Which I feel like Zion is alluding to this pattern with uh with Georgia. I don't know. This seems like a pretty particular situation because Georgia has a boyfriend. What did Zion think? They were gonna like get together at this point. I don't know. Apparently it's part of a pattern of behavior.
SPEAKER_02I think he does think that. I forget that they're only 30. So young. And she texts Marty, is it done? And at this point, I had forgotten what he was supposed to be doing, but he's supposed to be doing something bad, but I forget. We don't know yet.
SPEAKER_00We'd find out in this episode. Or we don't know, right, okay. So just this is still in the bedroom. Zion has left, and after she gets off the phone with Marty, she has what is supposed to be attack. Okay, Georgia, don't panic. You got this. There's no reason to panic. Sorry, my my southern accent is out of practice. Were you convinced by this?
SPEAKER_02I didn't even write that down. My next note is we get a flashback to young Zion.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it's a very short little scene where, like, honestly, I don't feel like we see enough of this side of Georgia about what's really going on for her. And, you know, she cannot be as hard as, you know, all the stuff that she does. I just like where does it come from? That we don't actually see any depth to her. So I feel like this scene is supposed to be an attempt at depth, but and it's not convincing. But like we've seen her trauma, like she was like molested or something. Yeah, we see it as a as a teenager, but as adult Georgia, we've never seen her really be ups I don't know. We've never seen her uncertain or panicking like this scene. But really, it's it's not a huge scene. You d it didn't even register for you. But she goes, Don't panic, you've got this, there's no reason to panic, right? Because we don't know if if Marty gives her a positive response. Does he say he's done what he's supposed to do? Not yet. So she's still really nervous about getting that task done.
SPEAKER_02And we get a flashback to young Zion, where young Georgia shows up with Jenny. And I think this is after she had killed that Lord of the Rings guy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it's the first meeting since she had taken off from Zion's parents' place. The scene kind of just like stops there. Well, Zion is pissed. He's not like, oh my god, Georgia and Ginny. Right, he's pissed. Zion, he goes, damn it, I'm her dad. I'm her dad. And Georgia says, I made a mistake. Yeah. Why is she there? Because she has nowhere else to go. Because you're right, she just killed the hotel guy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they must have been in touch with each other because um Or maybe this is the start of every eight months she shows back up.
SPEAKER_00And uh they're obviously like, how did she know where Zion's living?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true. Because it's not like his parents' house, it's some little apartment. And back in present day at school, Max is talking about the accident, and we hear Marcus has a concussion, and also that he doesn't have a motorcycle license. So I'm like, he's just been driving around without a license.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00He doesn't have his license, he doesn't wear a helmet. What are his parents thinking?
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say here to tell the story about your concussion.
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh, how horrible.
SPEAKER_02Wait, okay, wait. Let me let me say it. Well, let me tell my side of the story. It was Thanksgiving, and we were going to your boyfriend's house, and I showed up late or something. I can't remember.
SPEAKER_00This is like 2020. Yeah. So the pandemic had just started.
SPEAKER_02And I turn up and there's like an ambulance outside, and somebody's being like brought into the ambulance, and there's like a group of people, and I'm in the back of an Uber, and I was like, oh, like what's going on? Like, drama. And I was like, I want to see. So I kind of go up and like I peek around like the crowd of people, and I'm like, wait, that's my mama.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_02And then I think you really did have a concussion because the whole time you were messaging me from the hospital, you were like frantic. You were like, It's okay, baby. It's gonna be okay. I was like, why are you telling me this?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I don't remember texting you from the hospital.
SPEAKER_02You were texting me nonstop.
SPEAKER_00I was yeah, you're like, everything's okay, sweetie. What uh led up to that time was I was out for a walk with BB, who at that time was around seven, I'm gonna say, seven or eight, and my boyfriend. We were just coming back and crossing a street, and I began to chase BB in a game of tag kind of thing, and then when I came up to the curb, I tripped on the curb and I just faceplanted.
SPEAKER_02Ugh.
SPEAKER_00And I passed out for like two minutes, and I think for my boyfriend it was highly traumatizing.
SPEAKER_02This happened to me as well, though. Okay, wait, finish your story, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because BB started yeah, BB started freaking out, and so he had to manage BB, he had to get someone to call the police, he had to roll me over on my side. And um, yeah, I was I don't remember. I was out.
SPEAKER_02Well, this reminds me of it this other time when BB was on this like foam roller, and you weren't home. I was there with my ex, and then BB was like doing something on it, and then her back like slammed into it, and she passed out. And I like and I didn't know what to do, and I was like, started screaming at the top of my lungs, and my screaming woke her up. How long was she passed out for? Like 10 seconds, but still. And she woke up and she was like, What? And you didn't tell me about that. Yeah, I did. But she was really small on the roller, the foam roller.
SPEAKER_00That's so weird. But she hit her back? Why would she pass out from that?
SPEAKER_02I think just the pain of it or something from hitting it at that angle. That's weird. So we see Max saying, I love you to Sophie, and Sophie's eyes kind of widen. So we know something's going on there. And Jenny makes eye contact with Hunter in the hall and they avoid each other.
SPEAKER_00This is a funny little minor exchange. Sophie comes over to them, as you said, and goes, Hey guys. And Abby goes, Actually, it's Mang. And Sophie just goes, No. No. Wait, that is funny. And yeah, I think it's the first time that Max has said I love you. And I think that's what startles Sophie. Oh, really? Like just right there in the hallway. She goes, Thank you for being there for me. I love you.
SPEAKER_02No, I thought they had been saying it. It's just Sophie now wants to break up with her.
SPEAKER_00Well, spoiler alert.
SPEAKER_02No, but I knew it from this one second.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I thought it was the first time they said, I love you.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, I don't think so. Meanwhile, at the mayor's office, Georgia's acting a bit weird with Paul. That's what I wrote down. And they're talking about a rally they're having soon for the political race. And she gets a text that's not from Marty. It's just Jenny asking her to drive her home from work.
SPEAKER_00I just yeah. So she brings Paul and Nick coffee, and Paul goes, Georgia, you feeling alright? You look tired. And Nick says, He's being political. You look like shit. And Georgia goes, I'm tired because of Marcus. And um Paul keeps checking. Why is she tired from that? I think she's using it as an excuse because she's really tired because what was she doing last night? Oh, right, right. Okay. But she's playing up this whole Marcus thing to make an excuse for why uh she's so tired. And Paul keeps uh checking in with her. He keeps saying, About the other night, we're good, right? He keeps asking her that we're good, right? And she goes, Yeah. She goes, Yeah, yeah, of course, of course. That's why I said she's acting a bit weird. I just also wanted to say a few episodes ago, I think the one with um uh Jane Austen references. I think I was wrong in my predictions. Okay, what are your new predictions? No, I don't have any, but back then, you know, when we were talking about the love triangle, I don't feel it's gonna end up like that based on this episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So So what's the new issue gonna be that they're gonna leave us on a cliffhanger in the next episode?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I just it's not turning out into a Jane Austen romance, as we'll find out by the end of this episode.
SPEAKER_02I just I do wonder the next episode what that cliffhanger is gonna be, because it's not the love triangle.
SPEAKER_00I think it has to do with the P.I. Although that kind of feels like it resolved this episode too. I don't know. I guess we just need to watch it.
SPEAKER_02And meanwhile, the PI is talking to a judge and they're trying to exhume the body to do a toxicology report. Except Oh right, I wrote down like wasn't he cremated? Like in a previous episode, we knew that. So, can you do a toxicology report on ashes?
SPEAKER_00So he wasn't cremated, he was buried.
SPEAKER_02No, I swear he was I wrote down here he was cremated in a previous episode.
SPEAKER_00He wasn't.
SPEAKER_02How do you know? Why did I write that down?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Because you cannot to do a toxicology report on ashes. So look it up! I don't have my second uh laptop with me today.
SPEAKER_02I I swear.
SPEAKER_00Okay, fine. Either way.
SPEAKER_02You want to be cremated though, right? You?
SPEAKER_00Gosh, this is a morbid topic.
SPEAKER_02Well Why? You said you wanted to.
SPEAKER_00The family plot. There's only two spots. It's only for ashes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh, so you have to decide between being cremated or buying a new plot. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The one thing I didn't like about cremation is that as being part of a secular society, there was no ceremony around the cremation of my father, of OP. So when my father died, we cremated him. And at the actual cemetery, there's a church, and obviously.
SPEAKER_02So like here's your bag of your dad.
SPEAKER_00No, no, it's not that. I don't want to I don't want to get too much into detail, but there was no ceremony around it. Well, it yeah, it was horrible, actually.
SPEAKER_02Matter of fact.
SPEAKER_00Well, so with Omi.
SPEAKER_02I guess, but I think you have to like make your own ceremony, no?
SPEAKER_00Her remains were brought to the um funeral home, and they cremated Omi away from us. We were not even there. So we just got the urn with her ashes. With Opie, I was actually on site when they cremated him, which was horrible.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, wait.
SPEAKER_00Because they asked me whether I wanted to come in and watch. Did you watch it go into the into the furniture? Oh my god. I did not watch, but I was there like seconds before he went in, and it's really awful. Oh my god. That's so scary. So that part I think is awful.
SPEAKER_02I still keep Omi's hair.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's nice.
SPEAKER_02Because maybe I could do some witchcraft and bring her back or her spirit.
SPEAKER_00Having a token of somebody is nice, but then you had to just cross the line into witchcraft.
SPEAKER_01It's like okay.
SPEAKER_02I know. I'm just scared to bring something other than Omi back, you know? Okay, let's keep going. There's a coat. When I go to sleep, there's a coat on the side of my door that looks so much like a person. But I leave it there because I kind of like the thrill it gives me, you know.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Okay, back at the house, Zion and Well, just wait.
SPEAKER_00The P.I. shares that the flower is poisonous. We know that. And he he says to the judge, I've met Georgia Miller and I believe her to be dangerous.
SPEAKER_02This guy, it's actually like a personal vendetta.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like no PI is like working this hard and speaking with so much conviction. There's there's something's gonna come out. Something happened. I don't know. Maybe she he's just jealous of her. I don't know. Back at the house, Zion and Austin are playing hide and seek, and Austin goes into Georgia's closet. And at this point, I thought he was gonna find the gun and accidentally shoot himself or shoot Zion.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, me too. I thought that too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But instead he finds all the letters he wrote to his dad and realizes Georgia has been responding to him as his dad.
SPEAKER_00So he does find the gun, but he just because it's all in that space underneath the floorboard, but he just moves it aside because he finds the letters. I think he takes them with him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, I think he puts them back because he's gonna show them after. Oh, okay. I don't know. I don't remember. Now at the blue farm, Ginny asks Joe, what do you do when you like someone you shouldn't? And Joe knows everything that's going on.
SPEAKER_00Joe, before he says that, he comes up. Ginny is working, and he goes, Ah, look, sing sing. Is that the musical that Max is in?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh, that's the next episode, I think. Or was that this episode? Crap, I can't remember. Okay, let's just keep going.
SPEAKER_00With the musical?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's not this episode.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00Joe goes, ah, look, sing sing, a musical about all White people behind bars. A work of friction. Ha ha ha ha.
SPEAKER_02Topical Joe.
SPEAKER_00Well, I actually thought that was quite uh edgy for Joe, to be honest. And then Ginny goes, What do you do when you like someone you shouldn't? And Joe goes, Uh, is this uh skateboarding shirt wear t-shirt wearing shouldn't? Ginny goes, How how do you know? How do you know? How do you know this? And Joe says, Come on, I see stuff.
SPEAKER_02But I like how t-shirt wearing is like his defining factor.
SPEAKER_00Skateboarding t-shirt wearing shouldn't. When Ginny asks for advice, he says to Joe, you're always walking around all granola yoga. Wait, what? What? I missed that. No, yoda! Granola yoda. Oh.
SPEAKER_02And in my notes for this, I was kind of this is what I wrote in my notes. I was like, this is so trivial. Jinny's like, he's a mess, I'm a mess. And I was like, you're 16, you're not a mess, and I don't have time for this. That's what I wrote down.
SPEAKER_00Um, well, let's look into that a little bit closer. Because Joe says, we are the sum of our surroundings. Life is made real because we experience it, and love is the death of duty. So what do you think that means? Are you asking me? Love is the death of duty. I'm like, okay, granola Yoda. Love is the death of duty? Is that actually profound or love is the death of duty.
SPEAKER_02I don't even know what that means, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00It sounds pithy, but it's just really trite.
SPEAKER_02You don't have to do anything, it's the opposite.
SPEAKER_00Right, I know. Duty is when you feel obligated to do something. You have to do it because it's your responsibility. If you love someone, you don't feel like obligated because you want to do it. But is that really deep? Love is the death of duty. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I like the you know that like thing where it's like he's not heavy, he's my brother. I think it's kind of the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's that's good. It's a good connection. And then Joe carries on and says, I've seen the way you look at each other.
SPEAKER_02I thought there was gonna be some look in his face, like he's relating this to him in Georgia, but like there was no look on his face. I specifically remember.
SPEAKER_00That's what I mean. Like we anticipated all these kinds of love connections, but it's it's turning into something different than what we expected.
SPEAKER_02And Joe's final advice is he tells Jenny to be brutally honest. I was like, thank you. Just like, come on, come out and say it. And then Georgia walks into the blue farm and she references cheers. I used to watch this at 7 a.m. every day before school, and how Sam would start pouring Norma beer as soon as he walked in. I would eat oatmeal with honey and watch cheers.
SPEAKER_00In high school?
SPEAKER_02In grade eight. In grade seven, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. Where was I?
SPEAKER_02I was at grandma's, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Cheers! That's so funny. Because it was on really early. This, by the way, is before the streaming era, as you can tell.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yes. I'm old. It was on, I think it was on M it was on channel 29. I think that might have been MTV or something. I don't know. And then Joe pours Georgia a glass of wine, just like Sam would for Norm, and says she doesn't look great, which people have been consistently telling her this episode.
SPEAKER_00And he also says, because you usually look amazing, beautiful. And apparently then Georgia chugs a 2017 Chateau Bouclier.
SPEAKER_02I I wrote down, I found it funny that she just like chugs this glass of wine and then gets into the driver's seat of her car.
SPEAKER_00Of course.
SPEAKER_02I was like, okay. And now Ginny and Georgia, they're in the car. See, like the whole thing of like Ginny had to text Georgia to pick her up from work, like, we had to see that so that Georgia could have this interaction with Joe. It just seems kind of like why? Was this necessary?
SPEAKER_00As I said, it's not a great episode.
SPEAKER_02I kind of write like this too. Like a bunch of useless stuff, and none of it connects. I'm like focused on the details.
SPEAKER_00They're in the car and they both sigh, and so we're beginning to get a little bit into the mirroring, right?
SPEAKER_02Do you want to Okay. It's not time for the big reveal of the mirror.
SPEAKER_00You were bending to get something off the ground and you froze.
SPEAKER_02No, I that wasn't me glitching. I was just really still.
SPEAKER_00Well, how could you get more obvious? They're both in the car, they both sigh at the same time. They're both having boy problems, right? And Ginny says to mom, we don't have to go home. We could drive off and start a new life. And Georgia goes, I taught you well.
SPEAKER_02Actually, that would be a good show. They just keep going to new towns. At the end of this season, they pack up. Next season, they're in a different town. That would be cool.
SPEAKER_00So just to carry on, they say they each they each call each other on their guy problems, right? So Ginny says, Does Paul know about Zion? And then Georgia goes, Does Hunter know about Marcus?
SPEAKER_02And they're both like, we've got it under control. Georgia's like, she has it under control.
SPEAKER_00Ginny says, Don't blow up our lives over something temporary with dad. This affects me too. Georgia goes, it was a momentary lapse. I have everything under control. Okay, so here is the mirroring starting, right? Okay.
SPEAKER_02Then they get home and Zion has cooked dinner. Uh he's cooked the dinner that they're gonna have at Max's house.
SPEAKER_00Well he suggests, he goes, he has cooked dinner and it all looks very domestic, right? Georgia goes, What are you doing? And Zion goes, We're not young anymore. This could work. And Georgia goes, I'm dating someone. And Zion goes, hmm.
SPEAKER_02You weren't dating someone last night.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. He does suggest to bring it over to the bakers, that's Marcus and Max. And of course, Ginny is very intrigued by that. And sh and she goes, just give me five minutes to change.
SPEAKER_02And we flash back to young Georgia and Zion. And we see Zion is working for his dad, and Georgia's just kind of home taking care of Ginny. And I feel like Georgia feels trapped, and so does Zion.
SPEAKER_00This is setting the scene for a later scene. And again, this is part of the mirroring. This time it's Zion who comes home. He hates wearing a tie. Oh, maybe they don't have the discussion here, but he snaps at Georgia. But then he starts playing that song.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that is right here. He starts playing on the piano and singing to Jenny. And we see Georgia kind of have this face like, oh, he's a good dad. Because he played a little song.
SPEAKER_00And I think the discussion comes later. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's a good dad because he plays this song. And then at Max's house, I forget the m- Oh, Ellen? Yes. Yeah. They're all having dinner, and Max says Sophie got into NYU and they're all sitting down for a tense dinner with lots of eye contact. And Max is kind of like, I don't know. She asks, like, how long Zion is in town and if he's here to stay.
SPEAKER_00So there's a lot of joking going around. So Ellen and Georgia are sitting together having wine while Zion is putting the final touches on dinner. And Ellen goes, he cooks, he looks like that, and he cooks. Life's fair. So then Max, you're right, asks how long you're staying, and Zion says he's here to stay. I'm here to stay. And Max goes, Juicy. Yeah. Juicy.
SPEAKER_02The conversation moves towards Paul the mayor. Max's dad is about to give Georgia an idea. He's like, Paul called, giving them a number for a doctor for Marcus, and he's like, that's a mayor who can take action. We see that little twinkle in Georgia's eye.
SPEAKER_00That's gonna uh spark some ideas at the mayor's office. There is tension between Georgia and Zion as dinner talk focuses on Paul. And then it's funny because Clint uh the dad signs because they're signing and talking, and often the signing doesn't match what was said, right? So Clint says, signs, is she dating this guy or the mayor? He's like, I don't know. And um Ellen and Max, they kind of snicker.
SPEAKER_02But oh yeah, that's kind of funny. With my ex, like uh his family would speak Russian, but I knew when I heard the word Dovatka, it was about me.
SPEAKER_00That means girl?
SPEAKER_02Girlfriend? Yeah, I think it I think it was the beginning of girlfriend or something. And then Jenny goes up to the quote unquote bathroom to try to see Marcus, and he's sleeping, and then we see Padma popping up behind her, bringing him his homework.
SPEAKER_00And she asks, Do you like him? He's not gonna be good to you. He's messed up, selfish, he's a dumb guy.
SPEAKER_02Do you think she was like actually concerned, or is she trying to like sabotage the competition?
SPEAKER_00No, I think she's actually concerned. Okay, because she's like a sweet girl. Yeah, and then when she leaves, before she leaves, she goes, Well, I think he likes you too. We've seen him not be good to Padma, kind of. He's messed up. But that's because he didn't love her. He loves Ginny. I know, but we didn't really see him be mean to Padma. I don't know. We didn't see any relationship there. When she says he's messed up. He just didn't want to commit. He's messed up? Have we seen that? He's selfish? Have we seen that? Yeah, that's true. They are portraying him as this bad boy, but we're not really seeing it.
SPEAKER_02No, he rides without a motorcycle license, remember?
SPEAKER_00I know, but that seems more the parents. Like, where did he even get the motorcycle? So they're just a bunch of sweet kids bickering. I think it's this it's the writing. They're doing too much telling rather than showing. You have to imagine them as people. Like that's the thing when like for writers, you're supposed to show, not tell. It's kind of the same thing here. They're doing a lot of telling through the dialogue, but we're not really seeing it.
SPEAKER_02And then back at the house, Zion and Georgia talk.
SPEAKER_00Georgia's looking at bills, she's like flipping through all the bills.
SPEAKER_02And Zion says he wants to settle down with her. And he says, I'm 33. And I was like, he's only three years older than me? Like, that looks like a grown man.
SPEAKER_00And Zion says, I'm not a broke ass artist anymore. And he reveals, I got an apartment an apartment in Boston. It's you. It's always been you.
SPEAKER_02Mama, am I delusional? Do I look old? Or do I look young?
SPEAKER_00Well, I think you still very much have a baby face. So you look young to me. Okay. Why do you think you look young too?
SPEAKER_02I d I don't know. I can't really tell, but like there's this thing online about millennials being delusional about how old they look.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Keep going. Well, these actors, it'd be if you could go and look at look them up online, you might probably see that they're a little bit older. Yeah. Maybe not.
SPEAKER_02No, there's no way. They have to be older. They look like grown-ups.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Well, 30 is a grown-up.
SPEAKER_02But they look like mature, you know?
SPEAKER_0033 is a grown-up. Like 35?
SPEAKER_02They look like 36 to 38. 30. They look 36! They look 36! They do. They do.
SPEAKER_00Okay, fine. Can we just continue with Zion's love speech? You're the only place to be able to do that. Oh my god, I remember tapped her temple. Remember that phrase of the temple?
SPEAKER_02When somebody feels like home right here in your temple. And we were like, what the f does that mean?
SPEAKER_00This is home to me. Can I come home? Ew. And Georgia kind of she softens. She softens and she doesn't really say anything. But she lets him embrace her.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Because it's like a nice feeling, like, oh, like the fat well, it's not the father of her kids, it's the father of her kid.
SPEAKER_00But it's never really clear, and this episode doesn't really make it clear, like who has been running away from whom, right? So the fact that he got he finally got a an apartment close to where Ginny and Georgia are living, he's never done this before. Right? So it's him. My impression is that it's him that's been nomadic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because he was also climbing a mountain or something with those people.
SPEAKER_00I know, but then he in his speech in the bedroom was like, Is this are we back to the pattern now where you ignore me for the next eight months? Maybe he's like a put it onto her. Yeah, as if she was the one that was rejecting him and not wanting to commit or be uh like yeah, not stable is not the word, but maybe stable is the word. Anyways.
SPEAKER_02Mayor's office. Mayor's office. We see Georgia's idea from the night before. Their strategy is gonna be Cynthia cares, but Paul takes action. And they're gonna use the rally to take action by having people sign up for free. Oh, for tree planting, uh, reading books to kids, stuff like that, like clothing drives.
SPEAKER_00And Paul loves her idea. Uh, so before she has this conversation with them, we see her at her desk, and she is writing a check to cash for $15,000. And she's looking a little bit suspicious doing that. She puts the checkbook away.
SPEAKER_02Like, that's too much money to take at one time from like a little small town. I'd be taking like a thousand dollars at a time. That's it.
SPEAKER_00That's it, eh? So Nick is Nick says the numbers ha have dived, that they're like, I guess, going down. And um, so that's when Georgia presents her idea to turn the rally into an actual volunteer sign-up for the mayor who acts.
SPEAKER_02And then we see Georgia going down to the bank to cash her $15,000 check. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, before she does, right before that scene ends, again, um, Georgia and Paul talk about Zion, and Georgia lies about how long he's staying. Just a couple more days.
SPEAKER_02And then at the bank, we see Georgia cashing her check, but we see Cynthia witnessing it.
SPEAKER_00Cynthia is walking outside.
SPEAKER_02That's such like a like a theater thing, you know, like where somebody would catch the person right as they're putting all that money down.
SPEAKER_00So she's cashing the check that she had made out to cash. She puts some of it into the mayor's bag, whatever she's bringing back to the office, and then Cynthia sees her taking a big wad of it and putting it into her purse. So we all knew this was gonna happen, and so we f and so here is the evidence.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you would have thought like she would like look around before she does that or something, or get around the block. She's like right in the bank, shoving it in her purse. Good. There's evidence, there's cameras everywhere. That's true. Next scene, we're in Max's bedroom, and essentially Sophie breaks up with her. And I was like, fair enough. Like she's going off to NYU. She doesn't need this little girl holding her down. That's what I wrote.
SPEAKER_00You're pretty uh harsh.
SPEAKER_02I in my notes I wrote, Have you ever been broken up with?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, of course, countless times.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00I find it interesting. The parallel storylines, I guess, of Ginny and everything she's dealing with. And then Max kind of has the pretty conventional teenager life, right? I found this breakup to be quite typical. It was a it was a rendering of a typical teen breakup, right?
SPEAKER_02But I don't think people break up like this anymore. Nobody like does it face to face and is like hugs after, no? I thought that's just like olden times.
SPEAKER_00I can't weigh in. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I tried to break up with somebody and they said no. And then, so I was like, okay, I'm gonna like cheat on you. And so then, like, I cheated. Well, I just like kissed somebody else, and I was like, see, I kissed somebody else. This relationship is over. And they were like, You're so honest, I have to be with you.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, that is weird. And I was like, Oh my god, this won't end. That is weird, but that guy I think was a bit abusive, wasn't he? I guess. Like, he wasn't right in the head. If someone breaks up with you, you can't say no.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was actually watching Seinfeld recently, and that was like a plot where like George tries to break up with somebody, and she's like, no. And she says she's like, it's like launching a submarine or something. You have to have two keys and both pull them at the same time. And I was like, wait, am I living George Costanza's life? And then next we see Ginny in her room. Zion is taking her picture, and he says he sees things truthfully through the lens.
SPEAKER_00As a bit of a foreshadowing.
SPEAKER_02And then remember, oh, this was this next part. Remember in the episode when he arrived, and I said Yes, I do. I said he said that he underlined stuff, and she's like, What is this? A code? And we didn't know what that was about. It was a code.
SPEAKER_00It was a code.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so the code was that's like I don't understand. It was like the address of the apartment he bought or something. Or the townhouse, I forget.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02And he tells Ginny, and I'm like, why are you telling her right now? It like, oh my god. He tells her he wants to be a family and he bought this house and he wants them to all live together. And he says that Georgia agreed. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00And so then they end up hugging, and Jo Ginny looks truly happy.
SPEAKER_02I was kind of like, this is so bad to do to a kid.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. It's yes, it is bad. So here we have Zions. Everyone kind of gives their little definition of love, right? Um, what did uh Joe say? Joe says Love is the death of duty. You can't choose who you love.
SPEAKER_02Do you w do you want to think of like your own? Have you thought of your own little what is love quip?
SPEAKER_00So I just don't agree with this. Yeah. You do cho you can choose who you love. It's like a carte blanche, like you can't choose who you love, and if you're loving someone who is not available, or you know, this is not good, it's not healthy.
SPEAKER_02So yours is what's love got to do with it, got to do with it.
SPEAKER_00It could be. I haven't come up with my own. I think I gave a definition of love before. Love is an action, it's not a feeling. Yes. Max, we're going back over to Max and Mang to the rescue. Yeah. Cut to Mang.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're all in her bedroom as Max is crying and they're being like, Sophie sucks. And Ginny goes into Marcus's room, and Ginny is crying, saying, Do you hate me to Marcus? And Marcus reveals he hasn't been like he hasn't not been responding. He just can't find his phone, and it's probably like on the side of the road. And she cries in his arms and they almost kiss. And then we see Abby is standing behind them.
SPEAKER_00So can we just go through that a little slower?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Max is inconsolable, and they all agree that instead of being sad, she should get mad instead. And just here we have Nora with her definition of what love is. So when she's trying to console Max, she goes, When the right person loves you, you'll feel it. Yeah, and so this is when Abby finds out about her and Max and uh Ginny is Marcus and Ginny, yeah. It's actually a pretty big moment. Yeah, what did I say? Max and Ginny. Yeah, Marcus and Ginny. And Abby tells Ginny not to tell Max. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it would devastate Max. And Mang would be destroyed.
SPEAKER_02And Abby's parents are getting divorced, so she just can't lose Mang right now. Like, I don't know what the big deal is. I don't get it. Like, just because she's been lying?
SPEAKER_00I guess so.
SPEAKER_02But would Max have taken it well if she was like, hey, I want to like be with your brother?
SPEAKER_00Again, they're setting up this tension, and I don't know. Like, what's the big deal? Have they actually been showing it that Max would be so pissed off? No.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like, I guess we'll see it later, but yeah. I don't get what the big deal has been.
SPEAKER_00Maybe because of the lying. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And then we see Georgia is talking to Marty, and he sent her something in a box, but we don't see what it is yet.
SPEAKER_00So we miss the very small scene of when they come back to Max's bedroom, and Max is on the phone with Sophie, and she's just all over the place. Begging her to take her back. Why don't you love me? She's a mess. I feel like we All perhaps have been there. Except maybe you, Imogen.
SPEAKER_02I try to think.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Maybe.
SPEAKER_02I black a lot of my life out. Uh cut to the rally.
SPEAKER_00No, so the box from Marty.
SPEAKER_02I already said that. He has the he she gets the box, but we don't see what's in it yet.
SPEAKER_00I know, but on the phone, or I don't know if it's texting, Marty says, You're a real sick son of a bitch. And Georgia Even Marty is weirded out by Georgia. And Georgia goes, Oh, I know. And she jams the scissors into the box, like.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, I you just sparked a memory for me of like grade nine. I wrote some story about somebody like eating ashes. I don't remember why. But like they prepared them really nicely and stuff, as if it was a meal. Oh my god. I should look that up. Ashes in my Google Drive.
SPEAKER_00Intriguing. Let me read that story. So this next scene is an interesting scene. In the rally. At the rally. It's not a rally anymore. Remember? What is it? Oh right. It's like. It's a volunteer sign-up.
SPEAKER_02Okay, some kind of event. Georgia is in her element.
SPEAKER_00In the gym of a school. In the gym of a school. If it was just me doing this podcast, nobody would have any idea what's going on.
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, they're in a rally. I don't know. Like Georgia is really in her element. And she's orchestrating the whole event, and everyone's signing up for like stuff to do, like the volunteer events, and Georgia's going around talking to everyone. And then we see Zion taking photos of her. And then he sees the truth. He sees that she's happy in this town without him.
SPEAKER_00Because he's taking pictures and he looks at one of the pictures he's taken of her. Is she with Paul in that picture? No. Well, I think in one of them. Maybe in one of them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But the next line I have in my notes is it's sad to outgrow someone.
SPEAKER_00That is kind of a poignant moment.
SPEAKER_02That's like the whole if you love her, let her go thing.
SPEAKER_00And it's supposed to then be pair like balanced by this next scene, which is the flashback.
SPEAKER_02Flashback to young Zion and Georgia. And I wrote, We get more insight on the penguin metaphor. Georgia's like, they never learned to fly because nothing was threatening them in their habitat, but their predators were in the ocean, so they learned to swim. I don't really get it.
SPEAKER_00I guess it's after dinner. I don't know if it's the same night. And she's trying to spark conversation with him. And she goes, you know, I watched this uh video today and about the penguins.
SPEAKER_02But in this metaphor of their lives, what is the predator in the water? Which is why they have the predator in the water is their own boredom, which is why they have to learn to swim.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I guess I didn't think about the the story too much about the penguin metaphor. I would have to think about it again. But she just goes on to say, I won't let you see me as a prison. And so she basically lets him go. Yeah. He won't get everything he wants with her holding him back.
SPEAKER_02And Zion's like, you can't just take off. I didn't see Jenny for a year. And at this point, I was wondering if his name is on the birth certificate.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Because then I was like, she can just take off.
SPEAKER_00Try to think about this scene a little bit. They can't fly. If you take into consideration what Zion said the morning after, where he goes, Oh, is this gonna be the pattern again where you don't answer my calls for eight months? So this scene here, is this the start of Georgia pushing him away?
SPEAKER_02No, she already did. Because she took off and killed that Lord of the Rings guy. And now she's back. And now she's gonna leave again. I think Zion is just like delusional or something, and he's like, Oh, she's the one leaving me, and then he's on top of a mountain. So it is her, but she in this It's not her. It is he wasn't even happy in this situation. He wasn't happy, and then he's acting like she's the one just like leaving when he wasn't even happy.
SPEAKER_00It wasn't a good situation. So it could be passive aggressive, right? Where she puts it on him and says, Well, you look really bored, and I'm holding you back, and you're not gonna be able to do all the things you want to do with me here. So is she expecting him to say, No, I actually really love you and I can't live without you? We have to stay together. Because that's what passive aggressive does. Try to break up with them first before they break up with you. In the desperate hope that they're gonna say, No, no, no, no, no, we have to stay together.
SPEAKER_02No, that wasn't it. She could see he wasn't happy, and she wasn't happy either.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's like if you love her, let her go. But she's doing that for him.
SPEAKER_00But she couldn't just say, I'm not happy. She had to say it, it's you. It's you who's not happy. I'm not gonna be a prison. I'm gonna let you go. I'm kind of like this too. I wouldn't say I'm not happy, I'd just be like we're penguins, you know? Okay, so why? We're penguins. Explain that to me now.
SPEAKER_02I don't I don't know what that's a that doesn't make any freaking sense. So can you say it again, what you said earlier? Okay. The penguins never learned to fly because nothing was threatening them in their habitat, but their predators were in the ocean, so they learned to swim.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't actually make any sense. Like what what is their predator? Okay, hold on. Their life, so in their habitat, nothing is threatening them. So because nothing in their lives is really threatening them. But then in the water, okay, okay, okay, I got it. I think I got it. In their life, like, there's nothing actually bad. Like they're both unhappy, but there's nothing actually bad that's forcing them to go their separate ways and get like more of a life that they want for themselves. But the predator in the water, I don't know what that is yet, but that's why they have to learn to swim. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00Well, the it's life, right? Because in the reality in life, there's always gonna be risk. I think the predator is risk.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's good. That's good.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00But if you say I'm your penguin, it's because penguins mate for life, right? Is that it?
SPEAKER_02Do they I don't I I know seahorses. No, lobsters mate for life. I wish we had your computer to look that up. If penguins mate. I think penguins are monogamous, I think. I don't know if they mate for life. I could I'm feel I feel like I'm making this up.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah, because no, because we've heard stories about penguins, right? They they stay together to until the little egg hatches.
SPEAKER_02And it's really cold up there. They have to have somebody to cuddle.
SPEAKER_00And can you can can you remember back to uh Georgia and uh Paul's first date where she goes, he's my penguin, right? Yeah. He never learned to fly. Is did he say something like that to her? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, does she say something like that to him? To Paul? She does. She does. I guess it's oh, here it is, here it is, here it is. Okay. He never like when they're together, right? They don't fly. Okay. Flying is the metaphor for spreading your wings, taking risks, having your own life. But they can swim separately? When they are swimming, they're not together. But they're actually living. Learn new skills. Okay. Yes. But they're not together.
SPEAKER_02There's something pushing them.
SPEAKER_00Is it a great metaphor? I don't know. It's a very it's a very comp that's sad. It's a very complicated metaphor. Okay. No.
SPEAKER_02Why did they why did they choose this metaphor? Okay. And then back at the mayor's office, Georgia tries to break up with Paul. And she says Zion wants to stay and give it a real try, and that she slept with him. And Paul's like, Did you really think I didn't know you were gonna sleep with him?
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And then at this point, I was like, what has Paul been doing that he's so okay with her doing that?
SPEAKER_00Well, that question didn't necessarily pop into my head. Like, is he doing stuff on the side too? Is that what you're wondering? I don't know. I was just like, what are your morals, Paul? Well, obviously not good because what we find out here. Paul says that they're cut from the same cloth.
SPEAKER_02Is that what you're talking about? Because they both power. And he basically gives her a politician's speech, and at the end he's like, You need to choose. And he goes into the drawer and he pulls out a ring and he says, I bought it after our first date.
SPEAKER_00And he goes, Georgia Miller, I see you. So here is where this mirror ring is, right? Because Zion sees her through his lens. And now we have Paul saying, I see you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but like Paul doesn't actually know that Zion does see that side of her and like loves her enough to let her go. Like, Zion loves her more than Paul loves her.
SPEAKER_00I don't think this matters about who loves her more. This is where I was like, uh, it's not gonna be a Jane Austen novel. It has nothing to do with who loves her more because she doesn't care about love, she cares about power. I exactly.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I would just go live in that house with Zion. This Paul guy seems like bad news. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Which is perfect for her.
SPEAKER_02Anyways. And Georgia then gets home, and Zion is sitting at the front door with his bags, and I was kind of like, has he just been sitting there this whole time, kind of peeking out the window, waiting for her car to just like then like scurry back to his seat and like sit there dramatically? I think he's just been brooding. And he says he's leaving because he saw today what she wanted, and he wants her to get what he What?
SPEAKER_00What? No, but Yeah, you're right, but I think they again here's the mirroring, right? Because Paul just said, Georgia Miller, I see you. And then she comes in back home, and Zion's sitting there, and he starts off by saying, I know you better than anyone. So here she has two men telling her that they know her better, right? Two men looking to define who she is. And he basically says he wants to He goes, I saw you today. Here is the mirroring.
SPEAKER_02And he says he wants her to get what she wants.
SPEAKER_00Which mirrors exactly what she said to him in the flashback. I want you to get everything you want, and you're not gonna get it with me holding you back. So she said that to him way back when, when she was like 17, and here he's saying it to her. Yes.
SPEAKER_02And then he leaves, and she cries for a very, very long time.
SPEAKER_00And then we s what she does?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she it was so long, and then we see her dry her tears and put on Paul's ring.
SPEAKER_00So I'm gonna just dispute that. We could go and see what the second count is. Is it a long time? Did she really cry? Again, I'm not gonna like put the show down, but did I feel her? I don't know what it is, her confusion, her being torn in all these ways, her heart breaking, her heart filling.
SPEAKER_02She just wanted to put the rig on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm gonna give her about like a five out of ten for conveying any level of emotion in this scene.
SPEAKER_02And this is what I said when her emotion, like whatever, when she puts on Paul's ring and she stops being sad. I wrote down this is when some like energetic, devious music should have started, but it just kind of doesn't, and the sh the scene just stops.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it could have been like a little pulp, yeah, right? Because otherwise it just was it fell very flat, and is it it really made it very two-dimensional? Like that's all it is. The ring.
SPEAKER_02And then Zion stops by the blue farm. We never we didn't really see Zion meet Joe.
SPEAKER_00I don't think he does.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He stops by the blue farm, and Ginny is at first happy to see him, but then realizes what's happening. And at this point, I was like, I'm on Ginny's side.
SPEAKER_00This is some what is going on? So I actually think so. Ginny, the actress, does a much better job of conveying the real disappointment, right? Um, because she's so happy to see him at her place of work, and for like two seconds, she's like, Oh dad, hi, welcome. And then she immediately can tell that something's up, and she knows right away that he's leaving. And it's really it is heartbreaking for her and for us as we watch it.
SPEAKER_02I was like, okay, I'm kind of on Jenny's side now.
SPEAKER_00And he has no good re he can't really back it up. He cannot justify his actions.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, dude, like you're the dad, then you shouldn't have told her to begin with until it was like a sure thing.
SPEAKER_00But again, these are 30-year-olds being poor parents. Well, you've had enough time at that point. Oh, God knows. I'm still making mistakes and I'm 51. God knows I was a horrible parent at 30.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_00See a little bit more of them, like understanding that they are being shitty parents and they're just Yeah, they actually don't seem that aware or like uh what's that thing where you're like mad at yourself?
SPEAKER_02I don't I can't think of the word.
SPEAKER_00Mad at yourself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. And we see it's like 35 degrees, okay, everybody. We see Ginny come okay, the next scene. We see Ginny coming through Marcus's window. And so I guess this whole thing with Zion, like her dad leaving, it's like given her some kind of boost of energy. And so she goes through Marcus's window. Is this more mirroring?
SPEAKER_00Of course.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And she tells him that she loves him.
SPEAKER_00And Marcus says, feelings are hard, which is the title of this episode. Yeah. And they make out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I wrote they slowly grind on each other for a very, very long time.

SPEAKER_02And then Marcus starts talking about his depression and how before he wanted to kill himself, and he scared himself. That's because his friend died.

SPEAKER_02Yeah. And he's telling her this because he saw her with the lighter. And she's like, she has feelings, and it feels like she's gonna explode out of her teeth, and the burning is her relief. And Marcus, again, the bad boy he is, tells her to get help and go to therapy.
SPEAKER_00I felt like this now uh s uh veered into the territory of PSA, public service announcement about teens and therapy and kids help phone lines.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there was the show 13 Reasons Why. I never watched it, but apparently there they put in the scene where she commits suicide, but it like caused a bunch of bunch of problems, so they had to actually remove that scene off Netflix and then put up like things before each episode being like, if you need help, call this number.
SPEAKER_00I'm not saying the messaging is bad, but again, it doesn't fit with this whole he's messed up, he's gonna hurt you, yeah. Bad boy, yeah.

SPEAKER_02I have that next. So Ginny gets distracted because Austin is in her room, and then it cuts to Cynthia breaking into the mayor's office, and she hacks George's password.
SPEAKER_00No, she doesn't. She finds George's password, which is written on it. No, that's hacking it on a post-it note underneath uh some papers on her desk. That's hacking it? Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02I've never written down one of my passwords. That's great. I don't know what they are.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's yeah, but it's all variations of the same thing. So I know I just have to try it. And the it's all variations of your password. Are you serious? Don't say it. Why would I say it? I'm like, okay. Yeah, Cynthia breaks in uh to her account, and we see her finding all the evidence of Georgia's stealing. And then we cut back to the PI at the ex-husband's grave site, and we see someone has stolen the ashes. I don't I think he was always cremated. I don't think they just cremated him.
SPEAKER_00So here's my proof. Yeah. It's a full-on grave with an empty casket. It's a casket!
SPEAKER_02Hmm, I don't remember that.
SPEAKER_00It's a casket, so someone has stolen the body and cremated it.
SPEAKER_02Where did Marty cremate it?
SPEAKER_00What does the matter? He has connections.

SPEAKER_00Marty's men, unburied, like exhumed the body, stole the body, and cremated it, and sent Georgia the ashes.
SPEAKER_02And then we cut back to Austin and Ginny's room, and Austin shows Jenny all the letters, and Ginny's like, she can't keep your dad away from you. Well, she can keep my dad away from me, but she can't keep your dad away from you. Let's go mail all the letters to him. But I was like, doesn't like Ginny knows he's in jail, right? Yeah. Because they're writing to a jail. And I was just, this is the dumbest thing. I just Cause it they're addressed to a jail.
SPEAKER_00Like and they're addressed to Azkaban. They are? No, they're not. They're addressed to Azkaban. Because he thinks his dad is a wizard. So they're not going to the jail. They will. SPEAKER_02Okay. And in the final scene, Max is on the couch of her house and she's depressed about her breakup, and she finds Marcus' phone in the couch. So Marcus thought it was like destroyed in the accident, but it was like there all along. And then she sees that like Ginny has messaged him a bunch of the times, and she's kind of like, oh, Ginny. And she opens it, and then she sees like a what like a year's worth of messages and all these sex and all these photos, like the photo Max edited for her to like look sexy, and she realizes she's been lied to.
SPEAKER_00And her f and I said her face turns hard. Yeah. She's like got a steely look on her face. Mm-hmm. So all these storylines will possibly come to a head in the last episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What a what a pit of snakes disroying.
