Welcome to The Purpose and the Pivot. Today's episode is landing your dream job. Preparing, positioning, and pursuing the career you deserve. Oh, yes, yes, yes. Let's get into this. So, today we are talking about something that so many people desire, but often believe it's out of reach. Landing your dream job. Now, before we go any further, let's define what a dream job really is. A dream job is a role that aligns with your skills, values, strengths, and purpose. It's a role where you can contribute meaningfully, continue to grow, and feel that your work matters. Yes, yes, yes. A dream job isn't necessarily a perfect job. It isn't a job without challenges, difficult days, or moments of uncertainty. And here's the good news: a dream job is not reserved for a select few. It's possible for you too. Yes, yes, yes. But landing your dream job, it requires more than hope. Oh yes, it requires preparation, it requires positioning, it requires persistence. Uh-huh, yeah. So today let's talk about how to position yourself for the opportunity you desire. Uh-huh. Yeah. Step one. Get clear about what you want. Yeah. One of the biggest mistakes job seekers make is pursuing every opportunity without first defining what they really want. Yeah. So before you apply for another job, ask yourself these questions. Hmm. What kind of work energizes me? What environment helps me thrive? What are my non-negotiables? Hmm. What values are most important to me? And what season of life am I in right now? Yeah, because all of these things create clarity. And clarity creates direction. Uh-huh. Yeah. Because if you don't know what you're looking for, every opportunity starts to look good and starts to look like the right one. And often that is not the case. Okay. So the clearer you become, the more intentional your job search becomes. Oh, yes. Oh yes, yes, yes. Step two, mm-hmm. Know your value. I cannot emphasize this enough. Okay. You have to know your value before you ask an employer to see it. Uh-huh. Yeah. Too many talented professionals minimize their accomplishments. They downplay their experience. They focus on what they lack instead of what they bring. Your experience matters. Your skills matter. Your perspective matters. Take inventory of your strengths. What problems do you solve? What results have you delivered? What are people consistently coming to you for? Yeah, think about those things because your value isn't determined by your job title. It's demonstrated through your impact. Uh-huh. Yeah. Step three: your resume is your marketing tool. I tell my clients this all the time. Your resume is not your biography. It's a marketing document. Its purpose is simple to secure an interview. Uh-huh. Yeah. Your resume should communicate who you are, what you do, and the value you bring. Focus on achievements, not just responsibilities. Instead of saying responsible for managing projects, say this instead. Led cross-functional projects that improved efficiency and reduced costs by twenty percent. Uh-huh. Yeah. Results tell a story. Yes. And employers hire outcomes. Uh-huh. They love to see results, right? Okay. Step four. Optimize your LinkedIn presence. This is another one. I'm always trying to drive this home with my clients. In today's job market, your LinkedIn profile is often your digital first impression. Mm-hmm. Yes. Recruiters are looking. Mm-hmm. Hiring managers are looking. Networking opportunities are happening there. Yes, in LinkedIn every day. So ask yourself, does my profile reflect where I want to go? Not just where I've been? Does my headline communicate my experience? Hmm. Does my about section tell my professional story? Hmm. Am I visible and engaged? Because your next opportunity may come from a connection, a conversation, or someone discovering your profile. So get this, guys. Visibility matters. Yes, yes, yes. Step five, network with intention. Uh-huh. Yeah. Many opportunities are found through relationships. And networking isn't about asking everyone for a job. It's about building genuine connections. So learn from people, encourage others, share your expertise, stay curious, stay connected. The strongest networks are built before you need them. And get this. Often one conversation can change the trajectory of your career. Oh yes. Oh yes, yes, yes. Step six prepare for the interview. Yeah. An interview is your opportunity to bring your resume to life. Uh-huh. Yeah. So what do you do? You research the company. Very important. Understand the role. Also, very important. Yes. And then tell stories. Yeah. Share accomplishments. Communicate your value with confidence. And remember this, guys, especially my women, confidence is not arrogance. I don't have to tell my male clients that, but my female clients know that confidence is not arrogance. Okay. Confidence is preparation, meeting, opportunity. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So know your story. Practice your responses. And don't forget, you are interviewing the company too. Yeah. So a dream job isn't just about getting an offer, it's about finding the right alignment for you. Uh-huh. Yeah. Absolutely. Okay. Step seven. We are moving through this. Yes. Get this, guys. Rejection is not redirection's enemy. Okay? Let's talk about something difficult. Rejection. Now, if you have been job searching for any amount of time, you have probably experienced rejection. Mm-hmm. Yeah. The application that went nowhere. Mm-hmm. The interview that didn't lead to an offer. Uh-huh. The opportunity you thought was yours. Uh-huh. Yeah. Rejection can feel personal. Uh-huh. But here's the truth. Rejection is often information, not identity. So, therefore, a no doesn't diminish your value. I am going to say that again. A no doesn't diminish your value. Hear me. A delay doesn't mean denial. Okay? Sometimes, sometimes an opportunity isn't the right fit. Uh-huh. Yeah. Sometimes timing isn't aligned. Uh-huh. And sometimes the right opportunity is still on its way. Uh-huh. Yeah. So don't let one closed door convince you to stop knocking. Oh, oh my goodness. Sometimes rejection is just simply redirection. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Step eight. Uh-huh. Be persistent and stay ready. Oh my goodness. Be persistent and stay ready. You can't get ready. You have to already be ready. So be persistent and stay ready. This job market can be challenging. It is challenging. And the process can take longer than expected because it is. It's taking longer with companies taking people through several rounds of interviews and all of that. But don't lose heart. I do not want you to lose heart. I want you to stay prepared, stay visible, stay connected. And continue learning. Continue to grow. Continue believing in your value. Because opportunities often come when preparation and persistence meet. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So those eight steps, I believe, will help you in today's market. Uh-huh. Yeah. Because it is challenging. It is challenging. And you don't just want another job. This is to get to your dream job. Some people are looking for their last job. I mean, I've talked to clients that were like four years away from retirement and they got laid off. So whatever it is for you, your dream job, your next job that is going to secure where you want to be so that it can lead you to where you want to go next. Whatever the case may be for your dream job at this time, just know that opportunities often come when preparation and persistence meet. You have to be persistent in this job market. It is very um challenging because it's very competitive because there are a lot of people looking for jobs right now. Okay. So before we close today's episode, I want to leave you with a few questions. Yes. What does my dream job actually look like? Hmm. Am I clear about what I really want? Do I truly understand the value I bring? What is one thing I can do this week to position myself for my next opportunity? And perhaps most importantly, am I waiting for someone to choose me or am I actively preparing for the opportunity I desire and deserve? Think about that. Yeah, Sela. Because your dream job isn't found by accident, it's discovered through clarity, it's pursued through intention. Uh-huh. Yeah. And it's achieved through preparation, and it's achieved through preparation, positioning, and perseverance. So remember this, guys. You have gifts. You have experience. Uh-huh. You have something valuable to offer. Uh-huh. Yeah. And the right opportunity needs what only you can bring. So keep showing up. Keep believing. And keep preparing. Uh-huh. Yeah. Because your next opportunity may be closer than you think. Receive that. Uh-huh. Yeah. Receive that your next opportunity may be closer than you think. Uh-huh. Yes, yes, yes.
