Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Talkin' Soups. I'm Ed from Ways of the Seth. And I'm on the Gotcha. What's going on? What's going on? We're back for another episode. Uh this week, nothing too crazy, but we are getting ready for the Mandalorian and Grogu this week. Um, the Hollywood premiere happened and it was a big star-studded event. They had everybody out there. They had uh the Babu Fricks on the red carpet, which was kind of crazy to see set up with uh the spaceship that they have. They had the brand new droids that are debuting at the at Galaxy's Edge that are walking around. They had them dressed with little bow ties, which was kind of cool. And uh I did see a funny clip that was going around of uh Sasha Banks, Mercedes Monet doing her dance, like her money dance with the droids, like popping up and down, and that was pretty funny. So uh pretty much everyone from the previous seasons of Mandalorian was there. Pretty much all of your big Star Wars influencers were invited, and the reviews are out for it, and they seem to be divided down the middle. Um, you have some people that saw the movie and absolutely loved it, thought it was exactly what they went in to go see, and then you have other people who said it was essentially just season four of Mandalorian broken up into four episodes that they compiled and edited together, which is kind of what we had assumed. What we thought, yeah, based off everything. But um, yeah, so what are your thoughts about about like the early reactions to this movie already? Like, is it is it kind of like you know, like we said, it was kind of what we thought going in, but now to kind of get confirmation.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, I'm really I'm excited for it. Uh the fact that it's split down the middle is is better than it just being just straight up bad. So that tells me there's something to like about it. Um, I've also heard comparisons of this movie is more of like Return to the Jedi than of A New Hope. So that's also really promising because I do like that one better. So uh I'm just excited to see what we get. I'm excited for again, like we said a million times, for another start for a Star Wars movie being back in theaters after so many years, and it's just it's an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan and just geek in general.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm I'm I I I'm looking forward to like enjoying two hours and and just kind of checking out to be able to enjoy the movie.
SPEAKER_02Uh I've also heard good things about it in IMAX. I heard the IMAX uh scenes really do do the what they're supposed to do as far as like aspect ratios and telling the stories in in that in that space.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, apparently they uh Favre did say uh and I heard an interview round table with him and Dave Filone, and he did say that they used a lot more practical sets than the volume for this. Um so that's good to know that they they did, you know, actually build out sets and actually put the time and effort into that because that was something that I was very worried about going into this movie is like they're gonna rely on the volume too much, it's not gonna look good on a movie screen, and so I'm glad that like those worries have kind of been squashed a little bit. Um one of the big things coming out of that was basically kind of again what we had already heard going in that there are no cameos in this movie. So if you're going into the movie expecting to see any of the other characters that you like from any of the other shows, or expecting to see, you know, a thrawn scene or anything like that, they are not in the movie, apparently. None of them. Uh there's no Ahsoka, there's no Ezra, there's no Carson Teva even, uh no Bo Katan, no Boba Fett, none of them are in the movie. That it's it's just a Mando and Grogu movie with Zeb and Sigorni Weaver and the characters that were introduced. One of the prevailing I I have a feeling it is. Um that's kind of what I had heard from an inside source that that works for Lucasfilm um early on. I had heard this kind of back when production was starting, that there's there's no cameos, the script, you know, was already turned in at that point and everything like that. And um, yeah. So I'm I'm assuming that that is the truth, based especially after coming out of the reviews with people saying that, that there's you know, don't expect Luke Skywalker to show up. It's not happening in this movie. Oh yeah. Um maybe if if Felone's movie does get greenlit or does get turned into a series, that's probably more likely like when you'll get to see that moment of Han, Luke, and Leia all back together. I'll still beat the drum that I hope they recast all of them. And you know, except maybe uh I would just keep Aiden um as Han, but and cast, you know, recast the other two. Sebastian Stan is right there, Billy Lord, her daughter, is right there. So I mean it's an easy recast, in my opinion, and I don't understand why they're holding off on it so much, especially when that could be your your material for the next however many years, especially if you cast them, you bring them on. Now we have Luke, Han, and Leia, and can tell all these stories during that time. Um I don't know if Falone's gonna eventually get to do that. The the other news this week that came out was that Ahsoka season two is now being pushed back to 2027. Um my guess from from what I understand is that the VFX are not done. Uh as we know, a couple weeks ago we reported on Disney and Marvel releasing a lot of the VFX artists. I'm assuming that kind of goes hand in hand with why Ahsoka's done. Uh there's a lot of big space battles in Ahsoka season too, from what what like Falone has said. Um there's supposed to be a big battle between Admiral Akbar and Grand Admiral Thrawn. That's like a big space battle that we're gonna see. Um it's it's something that's taken from like air to the empire that Falone's gonna be bringing into live action canon. So I'm assuming, especially with the Mortis stuff, that they need a lot more work done. Um the the last report I had heard like maybe a couple months ago was that the VFX weren't done. So like it didn't it surprised me that they came out at the Disney gala and were like, yeah, guys, guess what? You're you're still not getting Ahsoka. Um my my thing is I I love the characters from Ahsoka. Um they are my favorite Star Wars characters. I have my gripes with season one. I don't think it's like a perfect show. Um I I think for a lot of people going into it, if you had never seen Rebels, you kind of really didn't know what was going on when you got dropped off into it. I hope that they learn their lesson. I'm one of those guys. I hope that they learn their lesson with season two and that it's a more straight streamlined story where people can kind of get dropped back in and just kind of know what's going on. Apparently, um Hayden Christensen is gonna be a big part of season two of Ahsoka. Um Anakin's Force Ghost is gonna be there with Ahsoka and whatever is going on. Apparently, the rumor uh I I don't always trust Scoopers, so so take it for what it's worth, unless it's reported by like the In Snyder or or John Campier or somebody that's like legit. Um Daniel RPK was saying that it's not the only project Anakin's gonna be in, that like Hayden will come back for something else that they're working on that's in active development right now. So I'm cool with that if they like I I've been saying that they need to do a Clone Wars live action show. Um they might as well, they have Ewan that still wants to play Obi-Wan, you have Hayden that still wants to play Anakin, you have the the younger actress, uh Ariana Greenblatt, I believe her name is, that played like the younger version of Ahsoka. Just put them together and give it do something with it because you you have them all there, you might as well use it before you get to like the sequel trilogy where like the older cat like the cast is too old to like really be part of the movie at that point.
SPEAKER_02Um what would that what would that be beneficial for? I mean, other than just the fanfare aspect of it.
SPEAKER_00I think for the the the the the prequels right now are like at their height because people like me have grown up and now like we're the Star Wars audience. Um so for me, I I think them going and doing a Clone Wars TV show would just be fun. Um it would be it would be fan service essentially to be able to get these you know to get Hayden and Ewan back to do more. Um both of them have stressed that they wanted to, so like to me it's kind of a no-brainer of like, hey, if you can put together like an interesting story around the Clone Wars and maybe summarize it a little bit more, you don't have to do like everything that was done in the cartoon. I would even want some stuff that was that wasn't touched on in the cartoon, like as part of the series. Right. But if you could do that in like a two-season, three-season format with eight episodes, and like kind of give you the gist of the Clone Wars TV show in a live action form, I think it would do a lot for people who don't want to go and watch, you know, seven eight seasons of of twenty five episodes, thirty episodes. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02So like it's kind of it's kind of like the same scenario with what One Piece is doing right now, and they're remat they're remastering and remaking the One Piece series for Netflix, but in a shorter concept way and and impacting all the important stuff because if you know there's like a 100 plus episodes of One Piece, so like they're trying to make it more easier for these new people since they released the live action. So if they were to do something like that, that would be dope.
SPEAKER_00And and I feel like that's an easy layup for them. Like I said, you have the actors that want to come back and want to participate. Ewan keeps banging the drum on on Kenobi season two. And as much as I would love to see that, I think I thought that was a green I thought that was Greenland. No, it never was. Um, there was never any plans. Originally, Kenobi was supposed to be a movie, and then it got squashed into becoming the series that it became, and and a lot of the storylines got cut, and a lot of things got fucked up with Kenobi that like shouldn't have never happened. Like the the show should have never gone into production if they couldn't nail all the things that they wanted to do with it. Um and that's where that show suffered. It suffered from poor VFX, it suffered from just kind of being thrown together, and like you could very much tell that this was a movie that they kind of compiled.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, for sure. That's what I that's what I uh I remember those conversations, that's what I was saying too.
SPEAKER_00So I I'm interested to see like if this does any good for Ahsoka pushing it off any further. Um I I I my worry is that it's been four years between two between season one and season two. Season one wasn't received very well, and now you're gonna have a four-year gap before you get season two. So I I don't know if that bodes well for like Feloney getting his movie then. If if people are really like if if the Ahsoka trailer drops and it looks phenomenal and really gets people excited, I think them seeing Hayden involved is probably gonna get more people to go watch it. Um because they kind of kept him a secret throughout the whole season one. Like it wasn't revealed until he actually showed up. But I think I think most people knew that like Hayden was was signed on because Rosario Dawson had done all kinds of interviews talking about that he was gonna be part of the show. So um I think season two, obviously, you'll have a lot more of him. You'll you'll have you know him actually being part of the whole season, so and the storyline that's going on on Paridia with the Mortis arc. Um so I I think that'll do them justice and and with these space battles and kind of summarizing the Thrawn stuff in there, but that's my worry, is like four years between two seasons is is a long time.
SPEAKER_02And we're getting the the the Ryan Gosling Starfighter show next year too, right? I mean movie, I should say.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, next year, 2027. So Star Wars Celebration is is in March next year. My guess would be that Ahsoka would probably drop before that. If if if it's done. If not, I could see them holding it off until celebration and then maybe dropping it like around celebration time. Mm-hmm. But supposedly Mall Season 2 is like already in the can and ready to go, from what I've heard. So like that they had already their that work's already done on season two. So I don't know the timeline. I don't know how this all fits into like their schedule that they kind of already have laid out for next year. And and that is a little worrisome going in. It's like, all right, well, now is Ahsoka just gonna kind of get the echo treatment where like they just drop the whole season in one shot and call it a day. Is is it gonna get the promotion that it deserves? Is it and that worries me because again, like we had kept saying from the beginning, it all depends on this Mando movie in Ahsoka season two, as far as like if Felone's plans continue. And I'm as of right now, I think the Mandalorian is probably gonna overperform at the box office. Like com compared to the projections that they had put out where saying that like it was only gonna make 70 million or whatever it was to be. I I can see it breaking those projections. Um I I think you're gonna get a lot of lot of parents taking their kids to go see the movie. Um especially if even if you don't know like what the Mandalorian is, I think if you see Grogu enough, you're gonna be like, oh, I could take them to see that, or your kids might want to go see it, seeing Grogu, and just like, hey, baby Oda, and like I want to see that. Hey, mom, take me go see that movie. And from from everything from everything I've heard from the reviews, that's what the movie is. It's a Grogu Mando adventure, and it's it's very much geared towards kids and like families. Like that's they they wanted to make what Star Wars like essentially always was. So I I feel like they did that.
SPEAKER_02It seeps through also because of the the Burger King deal and and and the other stuff that they're doing, it's just made for the kids.
SPEAKER_00Now now I'm not seeing the toys moving. Um the the the display stands have been out at Walmarts, they're they're loaded on all four sides with stuff for Mando. Um even the Black Series figures that like um I haven't seen them like moving off the shelves here and there sporadically, but like for the most part everything's still kind of sitting. So that's a little troublesome because usually like it might be the Superman reaction where like Superman is so good that like the next as soon as people go see it, they go buy the stuff and everything flocks off flies off the shelves. That might happen, because that's what happened with the the Superman movie. It all sat there until the movie came out, and then when the movie came out you couldn't find it anymore because everyone was rushing to grab it. So um I do want to talk about our predictions though for Mandalorian and Grogu, like final predictions. Um like just kind of how you like maybe a twist that you first see coming in this movie, uh a surprise, something. I'll go first. Um this has been kind of my thought from the beginning, uh, once I saw she was introduced into the movie. Uh Colonel Ward is played by Sigourney Weaver. She's a legend. Now, we're in a weird timeline in the Mando universe where the Thrawn is in control of like what's left of the Empire right now. He's trying to rebuild that fleet. He's got the witches that he's gonna resurrect on Dathymir and have this whole Night Sister army along with the Empire, and a lot of people I it wasn't brought up in the show, so I'm not sure how much of this they're gonna continue over. But it is the storyline I would have liked to see originally of Thrawn really doing this because he knows the Grisk are coming and he's trying to prepare the galaxy to fight that war that that with this other species that's coming from from the outer galaxy. Um again, that that wasn't touched upon in Ahsoka season one, it wasn't even brought up. I was kind of hoping they would lean more into that with that storyline. You're also at the point in this timeline where the first order is starting to rise. We were introduced to Hux's father as in season three of Mandalorian. He's part of the Shadow Council, um, and Hucks is the leader of the first order in the sequel trilogy. He's uh so his his brother actually plays his father on the TV show. I'm wondering if Sigourney Weaver is gonna end up being revealed as like the ultimate turn in this movie. I I could very easily see a scenario where like, you know, we're introduced to her, she's the captain of the rebellion, she's doing her orders, and she's sending Din on this mission. We know that like the Hut mission is gonna end up being a double cross, and they want him, they don't care about Rada, and like that whole thing is basically how they're they they set it all up because of what happened in Book of Boba Fett of him like embarrassing them and taking Tatooine. I could very easily see a scenario, especially based off like the scene that just leaked with Sigorny Weaver giving Din the the Razorcrest the new Razorcrest and saying that it's an old imperial vehicle, which I I never knew the Razorcrest was like an Imperial vehicle, which wasn't specified in the original Mandalorian show. Um she pulls out like a deck of cards, a sabbat card, she gives him the ace of something, and that's the the the empire guy that he's going to hunt. And supposedly it's set up by the huts to where the huts know the information, so Din's gotta basically just go get the information from the Huts, and he's real adamant, like I don't work for gangsters, like I'm I'm work for the new republic now, um, and I don't I don't do business with the Huts. I could very easily see a scenario where like Segourney Weaver is ultimately revealed as either part of Thrawn's campaign, and like she's she's somebody inside the the rebellion that's already like splitting apart the rebellion, or I could very easily see a scenario where Sigourney Weaver ends up being part of like the first order somehow, somehow. That would be my crazy prediction for this movie. I I I don't know if it's true based off, you know, I only saw the reviews, I have no idea, but that would be like my reckless speculation is like Segourney Weaver he'll turn somewhere in this movie. Because I could very easily see it. Like it's just it's she's such a big actress, she's I could just, you know what I mean? It just kind of feels like, alright, maybe there's something more to this character that they're gonna kind of swerve us with.
SPEAKER_02I wasn't going I wasn't even thinking like that, especially because her characters in most movies that are like this, where she usually plays the hero. So that that thought never really got into my head because that's why I kind of was on the good side.
SPEAKER_00It kind of would be like the big oh my god moment in the movie is if she does like fuck Din over. And then like it would kind of stick with the the the theory of like Din's whole thing of like this is why Din is the way he is and doesn't trust people because they kind of they kind of always fuck him over in the end and you know, like valuable life lesson.
SPEAKER_02Facts. Facts. Um yeah, um as far as me with my predictions or twist, um I don't I don't I don't have uh you yours is is your your your predictions are always on point, especially with the Star Wars stuff because you your knowledge on Star Wars was always on point compared to like this could mine could go either way though this time.
SPEAKER_00Like I just I just always had that feeling like when she was introduced of like alright, well the big bad is the Hutt and the Hut twins and the Empire, like these random faceless guys that we haven't even like we don't really care about from the Empire, it's not even thrawn. Like somebody else would have to like fit into that role, and maybe it is just the huts, maybe it is like just you know, Din like we did see that scene that other that other scene that leaked of like the Huts having Din on the ground and telling the the the guard to take his helmet off and then he removes the helmet, he brings it to the one brings it to the one twin, and the twin basically tells him, like, now that you're now that your enemies have seen your like you know, we can sell this on the black market, but it's even more priceless that your enemies your face got revealed to your enemies. And Din's like, it's not it doesn't matter as long as you're all dead, and just kind of like and and he's like, Oh, like we we like your amnesty, like we we like your like spunk, but you're gonna die here. And's like, alright, cool. Like, so like you see like where it's going and and where the setup's gonna be. Din's gonna kill the twins, and then probably Rada will take the throne, and then Rada is in charge of the the all of Hut uh now Hada. Um probably I guess another reckless speculation could be the creature that we see Grogu interacting with on um, which I'm assuming is still not a the one we said that is Yoda's master or something like that, right? Yeah, it looks like the species of Yoda's original master in Legends canon. Um in current canon, we have no notion of Yoda having a master or anything like that or who it was. So um I'm not sure what's gonna happen in that scene, but it does look like it's almost like a little training scene with Grogu at some point where like Grogu's gonna get some advice from this creature and then go saved in and and you know do what he has to do. So I could very easily see I get that vibe as well. I could see a scenario where like they do something where like they link him with Yoda or they link him to knowing Grogu's species, maybe, or something. Um I I feel like that would be how we'd get more insight on Grogu's like species or like how he is what he is, or why you maybe he's connected with the force. Maybe this other creature is familiar with like you know, the Yoda species. Because we still don't know we don't know what they're called. They're just Yodas. Like that's it.
SPEAKER_01Right, right, and that was.
SPEAKER_00That was kind of George's original idea, was like he would never divulge that because it was almost like Batman with the Joker of like not no not have Joker not having an origin, and he didn't want Yoda to have an origin either. It was kind of sub always supposed to be like mysterious. Um so that's a possibility. The the third one, I while I I think they're trying to play into that scenario in some of these trailers. Um I don't think it's likely for this. I think if it was gonna happen, it would eventually happen in whatever Faloni has planned, but uh the possibility of Din dying in this movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um I do see that that that vibe throughout the trailers, and it feels that way because uh like the the last trailer I I remember, it just seemed as if like it was very Grogu focused. And if anything, and in every scene, it's always like you know, then when you see his face, he's always closing his eyes, he's always on like this, like this one more thing moment or like we in like action scene or something. And and plus with already how he's already been on this like retirement mode after season three. It's just it just feels like I do see that too. Like this might be where he dies because if any if they're gonna kill anybody, I feel like it will it has to be him because they can Grogu forever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Grogu is gonna stay on as part of the sequel trilogy and everything else, like after the fact. Like you'll you'll do stories with Grogu probably until I'm dead. Yes. Um exactly. So I and they they do have like a little bit in the trailer of like Din saying, you know, the way of the Mandalorian is you know, the old protect the young and then the young protect the old. And so like I I I do think that theme is gonna be there. I think we're gonna get to a scenario where like it very much looks like Din is gonna die and is is fucked, and then here comes Grogu with the Babu Fricks and and Zeb and whoever else he gets to like help. Um I I I think that's kind of the plot of the movie. That would be my guess. Like the the we we know the first 20 minutes is is him taking out the Imperial Warlord. Like we my the second arc is him getting the mission from Sigourney Weaver and getting the new Razorcrest. The third arc is him dealing with with Rada and and the Gladiator, and then the fourth arc would be the Huts fucking him over and Grogu having to come save him. Um I could I think that's the movie. I think like that's what we're getting eventually, you know, essentially. Um I agree with you. I do think it's like a very cut and dry. Like if you're going into this, kind of thinking that you're gonna be able to predict how it's gonna go. I think you'll probably be able to predict how it's gonna go. That's why I think throwing the Sigorni Weaver, you know, swerve in there would be something beneficial at least to kind of you know be like, oh shit, moment. You know what I mean? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um because it's that's a I that's how I feel you just even saying that because Segorney Weaver, she's never that.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if they're gonna follow through with that, but that would be that to me, that would just be something that like I don't think a lot of people would be expecting, especially like based off what we've seen of her already, and like you said, her being like kind of the stature that she is. Um so yeah, I'm excited for the movie. I have my tickets for Thursday night. Um I'll be there uh at at the the I think it's the second to last showing for Thursday night. I'm at the last showing. Okay, so yeah, two hour, two-hour movie. I I'm looking forward to it. Um hopefully, you know, it'll be good. That's all I'm I'm looking forward to. I just want to check out and and not think about anything for two hours.
SPEAKER_02Yo, Fags, especially that Thursday, I know what my day looks like, and knowing that I get to see that movie, it's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited for it. Um something we did get this week was the Punisher Special.
SPEAKER_02Um I got a love hate relationship with this with this with this situation right here. So um go ahead and let you go.
SPEAKER_00The first five minutes of the the Punisher special really like annoyed the shit out of me. Nah, the the the thing that really annoyed the shit out of me was them senselessly killing a dog in the opening five minutes.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, who you telling, bro? And and yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00So like that pissed me off too. I'm one of the people that like if I know a dog gets hurt in something, I purposely skip it. I'll fast forward, I'll skip the scene, do whatever. Uh I am legend, I knew about the dog going in, I skip over that part. Um I'm trying to think of something else, like for instance, that I that I skip Oh, John Wick, I skip over that part because I knew about the dog before it happens. I feel like I feel like there should be some sort of thing on a rating or like message beforehand before, like, hey, trigger warning, we're gonna kill a dog in this movie. Um because for me, it was the most unnecessary thing in this whole fucking movie. Um the the the insane shit that they did to like show that this this hood had gone to shit after this crime family had stopped running it and being in charge was fucking asinine. Like none of that shit happens in the fucking real world of like a hood going crazy. Like we've we've been in hoods, we've grown up in hoods, we know what they look like. I've never I've never once seen somebody just fucking snatch a homeless guy's dog and drop it in front of a fucking truck. Um, so I feel like you could have done so many other fucking things in the in the opening of this to show that like the the the hood's in chaos rather than how they went about it. And and I feel like they continued to do that like throughout the whole entire special to where like I get what they're going for is they want you to have that satisfaction of him like hunting them down eventually and like and and taking them out. But for me, like starting off like that was just like fuck man, I already know I'm not gonna like this. Like, I already know I'm I'm not gonna like how this goes. And then for go ahead. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02No, no, I was gonna say it put a sour taste in my mouth too when they did that to the dog. And in a way, I guess they thought maybe because towards the at the end, he they finally gets his get back on him, but it just still I I guess that's supposed to be a way, but it was still like super unnecessary because I never I never fucking seen that shit coming. I didn't think it was gonna really do it. I thought they were just I thought he was gonna come out and kill him then, or just something was gonna distract him from not really doing it, but he just fucking did it, and they kind of sh they they were real like in your face about it too. The way the camera work is on it.
SPEAKER_00I can't help but they did the same like I saw so many people talking about like oh it's a continuation of the the Punisher TV show, and it's really not. Um it is, but it isn't it it's almost a rehash of everything that they already did in the Punisher TV show. Like I know we watched him take take out the crime family that killed his family in in the TV show. Um but it's been so long we've had him in Daredevil, and then all of a sudden after season one of Daredevil, like him leaving New York was him going he didn't even leave New York, he just went to a fucking nother borough and stopped being the punisher after we last saw him with Matt. Like it didn't I was just like what the fuck where does this fit into like the timeline? And apparently it it's smack dab in between. Um I just I feel like him and Karen belong together, and like Matt Matt needs to find somebody else. Because like it's just like it like I had to listen to her all fucking season talk about Frank, talk about Frank this and Frank's wag, and then like you just see like the the vibe with them, and it's just like oh well they belong together. It's not her and Matt. Like it's it's it's I don't know. I I just I didn't overall.
SPEAKER_02I don't uh I don't know if the show between Daredevil and and and this show. I don't know if Marvel's doing that on purpose to give us a payoff, but if they're not, it is the weirdest fucking relationship that they're putting together because it's like, yeah, you're totally right. He the Punisher should be with her because she clearly likes him more than Matt. And so many she she acts like the chemistry is way more stronger. Um and and I don't know, it it's almost like that um that Harry and Peter situation with Matt MJ is like, you know, like she she really is in love with with Peter, but like she sticks with Harry because he's the guy and with the money and he you know the Prince Charming with the Lord. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That is so but it's the opposite because Punisher is a piece of shit. Matt is more like at least has some sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just um I just felt it was like very jarring from like what we saw Frank last time to now he's back to dealing with the PTSD, he's back to like not knowing what he's gonna do with himself, and then the whole thing was just to get him back to being the Punisher again, and it was like I I didn't really understand why we needed this then. Like he was already the Punisher at the end of Daredevil when we saw him last. You kind of really didn't need to do this at all. I I I don't know. I get it, I get it. Like they wanted to have a Punisher thing, they wanted to do this. It seemed like a lot of people thought like this oh what's coming next, like like they left this open for like another Punisher special, but we're gonna see him in brand new day, and like that's that's what's next. So I I don't know. This wasn't really needed for me and at all. And like I I think I rated it a star and a half on letterbox, like I was just like, all right, it was okay. Like, didn't do anything for me watching it. It was just like, all right, you see Frank kill a bunch of people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, no, I I feel you on that, and and that's kind of how I felt initially too, because it it just felt like things that we already knew. But when you think about it, I feel like for the people who don't know Punisher's background, like like myself, to be honest, um, it it it was it it was a little bit refreshing because when you find out you know he was a military vet, and in the and they love that they show those type of things in here, you get a little bit more of a sense of the person that he was, and the fact that you know the the the family that killed his family, he killed all of them except for the mother.
SPEAKER_00You see like those pieces of him that he does still have some type of sense or whatever, but yeah, like it was just like and her her telling him like uh uh you have I'm putting a hit on you in whatever, and you have however many hours. I thought that was a weird thing. Like, why would you tell somebody like that ahead of time?
SPEAKER_02Especially knowing you're so on you're so vulnerable and like this guy can just like kill you now, yeah. Yeah, yeah, you know, it was it was a weird, it was a weird special. Um the the fact that it does leave it open like that, and you know, we we get him um like that's another thing. This dude had the freshest cut out of nowhere. Like the way I don't know how in this crazy ass city he had time to get a barber to get a barber and do that.
SPEAKER_00He got a full lineup, yeah.
SPEAKER_02At least you know, like now he's going into Spider-Man looking fresh.
SPEAKER_00And but that's the thing's like whatever in between now and Spider-Man, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But that's the thing I hope that um whatever they do next after Spider-Man, it it is more of like a s like a fresh story base. Where opposed to just more of like an origins.
SPEAKER_00I don't wanna see I don't need a solo everything. Like if we're gonna do more stuff with them, I'd rather just it be defenders, all of them together, and just do that. And like you can do a show with all of them where like you have different storylines involved. Like, I don't understand this need for like we're gonna do a a a whole show focused on one character and then nobody watches it. Like, not for nothing. Daredevil had a 50% drop-off from season one to season two. They lost 50% of their audience that did not come back and watch it this season. What does that tell you? Like, unfortunately, as as cool as you think Daredevil is, like, people seeing him on his own is and with the same cast, the same villain over and over again, like it's not doing it for people. And the writing, like I like I pointed out multiple times, was was all over the place. So I I don't I think they have to reframe like if we're gonna do stuff with these defenders, and that maybe that's the the the idea for season three of like we're gonna bring Luke Cage, we're gonna bring Jess Jones, we're gonna bring Finn back, maybe Electra, um, you know, whatever else. Maybe that's the the thought of like, hey, it's Daredevil season three, but it's defender season two or three, whatever it was. So I I could see that, and I'd be cool with that over over just like another season of just straight Daredevil, or like another Punisher thing. Like, I'd rather see Punisher and So and so or Punisher with this group of characters that we've assembled now. Or you set up as part of Peter's team for Secret Wars. I I do see though, like how this ended a very easy way of like explaining why he's protecting Gene Gray and if he if that's the storyline for Spider-Man. Right. Like because he kinda he kind of says to himself, like, I'm gonna protect the people that need protecting, and I'm gonna take out the people that need to be taken out. And that's kind of his mission statement when it's all said and done. So I could very easily see like why he's protecting Gene. I I don't know if we're gonna see that play out in brand new days, like him him finding Gene originally. I think we're kind of just gonna skip ahead to like where he's already being the one to protect her. But I I don't know. It it could honestly go either way. But I do see like how they interweave that and kind of made it part of the story.
SPEAKER_02Right, right. You're right. I couldn't agree anymore. But yeah, overall, this movie, this well, this one shot for me was uh I I I I'd give it like I don't know, out of ten is probably like a good six and a half because of just the weird the the the the the story didn't click to me at first. I I had to talk to people because I was like, what what did I miss on this? Why does it feel so weird? And then the another thing was like the audio when I watched it was super low. I heard they fixed it since though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and there's a bad there's a couple special effects moments that are like bad.
SPEAKER_02And that was my other one, is that that special effects scene where he's doing the fucking max pain off the off the off the building, it just looks so bad when he hit the vent. But then they fixed they I don't know if they fixed it or they lied or whatever it is. It just it just doesn't sound real to me. Well, there's a good one. But they said that it was like half um, it was actually partial, it was like uh practical, but they only did the visual effect for like the the crash scene.
SPEAKER_00Like when he actually there's there's a scene like where he shoots a guy and the guy's head's supposed to explode and like it doesn't, and like there's there's a couple different like special effects things that are like really bad in it that stand out. So yeah, I had heard they went back and like fixed the things, but people had already grabbed the clips and already were showing them and running them.
SPEAKER_02So it's and with the so much time that they had from so much time from when they did this, and like I remember them I remember seeing the behind the scenes in the in the leaks of people showing this when they were filming it like last summer. Yeah, you would think that you had so much time until this almost in the summer now. Like to do it.
SPEAKER_00They fired, they fired, they fired the quarters of the stuff. So same same thing as Ahsoka, like you're you're you need stuff done, and like I know what they're trying to do. They're trying to they're basically trying to use their VFX staff as independent contractors rather than paying them full salaries and having them be on 24, you know, having them be on the Marvel payroll or the 9 to 5 payroll. They're just gonna use them as as freelancers and basically we'll hire you per diem on projects. And you're gonna see like the drop-off of of how bad the special effects are gonna be. Like if especially if like they're they start trying to just use AI for it to replace like the workers, it's gonna it's gonna be noticeable. We're not there yet to like where it's it's not noticeable, and like if especially if you like work with AI and you can tell like the differences and stuff, you're gonna be able to spot it out that like, oh, that's AI, that's not even like an actual special effect. So I I worry about that. I worry about that with Doomsday too, especially because a majority of Doomsday is shot on a on green screens, so like there's no practical sets for that. A lot of that's just green screen. So yeah, I I don't know. Um still still my hype level's not there. Um maybe when Spider-Man comes, it'll change. Um I'm really hopeful that Spider-Man's gonna be good. I I think with Mando we're gonna get the Doomsday trailer. That would be my assumption, is that they they have that before uh the Mando movie. Exactly to get people to be. Well, that's what I'm saying. That that's that's my guess is like I would put the trailer there, get people to just come and see the Avengers trailer and stay for a Star Wars movie. I think that's the best way to like sell tickets and and make sure like you're getting an audience for this movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the the the star the Mandalorian trailer came out for uh for a Cinnamon Con instead of Cinnamon Con Cinema Con instead of the um the doomsday one. So in a way, I would hope like that trailer ate oh I mean that trailer ran for that this one can walk.
SPEAKER_00So that would be I mean it's it's it like I said, that's the best case scenarios. You drop that before the movie, and then you're good to go. And and that's what I would go with. You know what I mean? Like that that would be my assumption, is is that's that's where you see it. That would be amazing. That'll be so um speaking of trailers. This one leaked. It it wasn't an official trailer, but we had kind of spotted this trailer a while back and kind of knew most of the bits. Uh this was a little bit rearranged compared to the original version we saw, but the X-Men 97 trailer is out and available for you to go see on the internet. Um I'm sure it hasn't been taken down yet. It was floating everywhere earlier today. I'm hyped for this show. I've been hyped for this show. I cannot wait for season two. Um, especially after we talked about last week seeing the the promo art and seeing that, you know, the X-Factor team and seeing the X-Force team and seeing that they're, you know, we're gonna have multiple X-Men cast members that are gonna be popping up in this. So it should be cool. Um it was really cool to see Quentin Choir and Monet in in this. Um we did see them in the New York Comic-Con trailer, but to see them like open this trailer for me was a big deal because they're two of my favorite current X-Men characters in continuality. So getting to see that they're involved in this. I don't know if they're gonna be part of the Mutant Massacre, because I I think the Mutant Massacre storyline is gonna be tied into here, like the Morlocks and and um that whole storyline that takes place in the comics. It is a 90s, late 90s story, so it's it's probably gonna be adapted more than likely because they've that's one thing with X-Men 97, they've been sticking to alright, from where the show ended to early 2000s, like aughts era stuff, they're encompassing now. And now we're we're getting now out of the 90s and towards more of the aughts, so we're seeing those Grant Morrison costumes eventually during this season. We're seeing some of the characters that like really became popular towards the end of the 90s, so that's really cool to me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was really excited to see Magneto in like his like Savage uh suit and like to see the X-Forces as well doing their thing. Um and yeah, just more of that, and more we're getting more of apocalypse this once now, and uh yeah, so I I this I thought we talked about this before, but to me, I thought this was a new trailer, but I guess it's just dumb chopped up the different scenes.
SPEAKER_00It is, but it isn't there are some new scenes that are that are included in this, but for the most part, the majority of it was in the original trailer that that was like leaked out from Comic-Con. Um Apocalypse Apocalypse is gonna be all over this in multiple errors, so we're gonna have him in ancient Egypt, we're gonna have him in the future, and we're gonna have him uh basically like current day, I guess. Um Gambit coming back as death is pretty much like a given uh based off how the season season one ended. Um so yeah, I'm I'm I I did hear that like the age of apocalypse art got cut from this show, though. Like Bo DeMoo had kind of said that that was one of the first things that they cut when when the the new showrunner kind of took over. Um I don't know how true that is, again, because a lot of the stuff that he says isn't reliable. Um but it's a possibility that like the whenever the big age of apocalypse art kind of got cut in place for X Factor and X Force to to kind of have more of a role in this season, which I'm kind of cool with. I I I love Havoc, I love Polaris, um, I'm really interested to. See, like how they all work, especially with her being Magneto's daughter and then Alex being Cyclops' brother. Um I don't know. So, like in the original 90s show, they never knew that they were brothers. They they faced off against each other in an episode and they couldn't figure out why their powers didn't work on one another. And that's kind of how they left it. So I'm wondering if like that's gonna be how X Factor kind of comes into play here. Is that is that Forge Forge is gonna tell him that he's Cyclops' brother, like here, this is your brother, and we're gonna we gotta go find him. Um I could very easily see that, and then Lorna, same thing with like Magneto. Magneto knew in season one that Lorna was his daughter. You see her on the boat in his vision in his mind. So yeah. And you see Wolfsbane, you see multiple men, you see strong guy, um Archangel, who's gonna be part of X-Force with Cable uh and Cable Squad, which I'm I'm very happy about. And like I spoke about last week, we get to see him and Betsy, or him and Sylock, I should say, because I don't know if it's Betsy or Koanin. Um but they are gonna have uh Angel and Sylock be together in this show, which if you're a 90s X-Men fan, like that was that was relationship goals at for the longest time until we got to like the late 2000s, where like 2015-2016 when Rick Remender did what he did with X-Force. So I'm I'm here for that. I I'm very excited for this season. Um, I will definitely be getting my Pizza Hut and watching it when that season starts. Um because that's like the old days. That's my connection to the show and and how uh my my memories of the show. No, yeah, I'm excited as well. Um something that did get announced that like we finally got an official trailer for. Uh so if you're a Big Bang Theory, Stort, the guy who runs the comic book shop in Big Bang, he's getting a a spin-off show. It's called Stort Can't Save the Universe or Stort Saves the Universe. And it's Stort, uh his girlfriend from Big Bang Theory, and the the guy with the beard and the glasses from Big Bang Theory that was like kind of always at the comic book shop too, or was involved in like some of the Sheldon stuff and like became one of their friends. He was like one of the other doctors that they were friendly with. So it's essentially like a uh it's a spin-off of Big Bang, but it's it's like set in like a sci-fi realm, like of the fact of like Stort does something and now has to like save the universe and and what goes on and transpires. So like it looks like it might be fun, but I just thought it was interesting because of the connection with Big Bang and you know him being a comic book shop owner that they are gonna you know be doing this show.
SPEAKER_02I'm not the biggest Big Bang theory. I I know all about it and the young Sheldon. I actually my friend of coach she loves that show. Um, but if they do something like that, I might be interested because it's it's I they there I do like the comedy of the Big Bang, like don't get me wrong, but it to watch every season is just like it's not that interesting for me. But the the parts that I do see are good.
SPEAKER_00I've watched the whole show like multiple times, so yeah. Um it was one of my comfort shows for a long time, like where I would just put it on all the time, especially like when I had cable still, because it would be on FX, I think, all the time or TBS all the time, whatever one it was. It's a good convention. So yeah, I always used to watch it. Um I I I'm looking forward to checking this out. Again, it it's a very different approach from Big Bang. It's it's not um it's more sci-fi, it's more nerdy almost, but it it looks like it could be fun.
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna be able to do that. Well it'd be like like that will it still be like that same um like sitcom comedy type type way?
SPEAKER_00I guess would be like they're they're all gonna still be the same characters from the show. So like you'll still have those instances, but like what's happening to them is very sci-fi and very like like whatever they use, they end up breaking reality and then have to put reality back together, essentially. So it is like very sci-fi, like them on a mission to do something. Um so I don't know, it could go either way with like how how they end up you know executing it, but it's a possibility that like it could be end up being a fun show.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I'd I'll tune in. Anything that has to do with the with the culture, you know I'm there.
SPEAKER_00Um we got our look now. So originally I was gonna talk about lanterns and some news that came out from it, but today, before we even started the show, the actual trailer for lanterns dropped. So uh we both watched it, we both have some theories and some thoughts on it. Um one of the things that that is interesting and is shown off in the trailer is that it's gonna take place in two eras. So we're gonna have a 2016 version of Hal Jordan and a 2026 version of Hal Jordan. Um the the whole premise is Hal investing a uh investigating a murder case that he believes is linked to aliens. Um so in the trailer, we do see some flashes of red, which will lead me to believe that the the red lanterns are gonna be involved in this. Uh the show is called Lanterns with an S. My guess would be we see more than one. Um it would the the the heavy theme on fear is is kind of riddled throughout the entire trailer, especially towards the end. So I could very easily see a scenario where Sinestro is involved in this, or maybe his corpse or Parallax or some some entity like that. Um I don't know if they'd go back to Parallax since they did it for the the Ryan Reynolds movie. I feel like James Gunn would try to do something totally different, so that's why I could definitely see this being like Atrocitous and the Red Lanterns. Um especially from like what we saw in the trailer with the red energy you know being shot out of the sky and stuff like that. So um I I'm not sure we talked about this off air. I'm not sure if the woman at the end of the trailer talking to John is Carol Ferris. Um it wasn't specified like if she's in this or not, but my guess would be who else would be like an older woman that knows all about the ring and knows how it all works, other than Carol Ferris. So that would be cool to see like her be part of this show and and her kind of be the mentor to John in some sort of sense. Like it in the comics, she's a star sapphire, so she's part of like the spectrum and and one of the you know the the the purple lanterns or the pink lanterns, whatever you want to call it, they're sapphire. Um so it would be cool to see like that incorporated as well. It does seem like how Jordan's gonna get killed off in this, though. Um, because like it's very specified throughout the whole trailer that like there's only one ring between them, and and that Hal basically tells him, like, in order to get this ring, like there's only one way is like to pry it from my cold dead hands. You see John towards the end of the trailer, um, you know, with the ring. So maybe maybe that that gap of like we're gonna see him meet John in 2016, and then ten years later, John's gonna Hal's gonna die, and and John's gonna end up in possession of the ring. I don't know if that's gonna be part of that like time jump, but it's definitely it's definitely more plausible. We do see Guy Gardner in this as well. I just don't know how he's gonna factor in. I I thought Guy was gonna be the one that got killed, and it doesn't seem that way. It seems like it's gonna be Hal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, for me, what I've seen from what I've seen at the trailer since I I watched this right before we started. Um, one, Hal Jordan looks super savage mode in this. Um, uh I've seeing like seeing him in his in the suit was was really nice to finally see what it looks like on camera.
SPEAKER_00Um they did a good job like nailing Hal's suit.
SPEAKER_02Right. Um, and and then seeing him you know go off and flying and just like doing all the things the lanterns do, you could just really tell his skill level when it comes to the ring and what he does. Create money. Yeah, and then creating the money, yeah. That that's a thought that I wish I I never even thought about it with a Green Lantern ring. Like, I didn't even think you can do that, but that just tells you how powerful the ring is.
SPEAKER_00It probably disappears like once he leaves the vicinity. So like he's giving them money, but like it probably my guess would be like the construct fades, and uh you know, after he leaves there.
SPEAKER_02Like, does it actually register? Like, that's why I can't wait to see what happens.
SPEAKER_00I think it would, like, because it is a physical thing that he can create, so like yeah, I can very easily see him like creating the giving the guy the money, and as soon as he leaves the bar, the money just kind of you know dissipates and goes away.
SPEAKER_02That would be that's crazy. Um and then um I also really like that they're making this a true like Jon Stewart's uh origin story, and even going back to showing his military um days and his and his days where where like other where it seems like it's his father how and how he was treating him when he was younger and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Well, his dad was a military man too, so like that's that's kind of how he had a tough upbringing because his dad was a serviceman or a general or something like that, and then yeah, like he gets enlisted and and so like you're seeing the different phases, and then you see like him take that sniper shot from far away and blow up the whole compound and talk about how you know he's used to dealing with fear. So I I'm hyped. I think Aaron Pierre Paul's are gonna be a great John Store. Like, I think it's cool that that James Gunn decided to like go this route with the older Hal Jordan. I love Kyle Chandler in this role. Like, I think I think he's really gonna kill it as Hal Jordan. Um I'm just interested to see like how Guy Gardner fits into this. Um do we see Jessica Cruz or do we see any of the other lanterns that are you know out there? I don't know. I I'm I'm interested to see how it all plays out. I know Jessica Cruz is getting that like adventures with Green Lantern spin-off series.
SPEAKER_02So yeah. I really like I just really like just to just piggy off of what you said. I really do like the fact that they are making this a yes, it is a buddy cop, but it's also like a telling of age story where you know there's the mentor and then there's the mentee, and you're just trying to get them ready for what's to come. And the whole story on like the whole like thing that we keep saying about fear, it's just like a topic that is anybody can relate to, and the fact that we are getting we're we're getting that in the these like I don't know how you say it's a non-fictional story, what's with you know, because of the lanterns and what that means and the quote or the darkest night and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_00We're getting it in a very HBO drama way, and that's that's what's cool about it. It's it's not just a DC show, it's very much done in line to fit with like the rest of the HBO dramas that are on TV now. So like I do think you're gonna get outside people who like probably don't even know it's a comic book show and and might just check it out when they see it on like you know, see it on on HBO Max. I can very easily see that.
SPEAKER_02And and then and then also now that we know that he will be back in for Superman 2, that's gonna be awesome too.
SPEAKER_00And and we we could talk about that now. There were some other casting announcements for Superman. Um, we did talk about Matthew Learlard last week. The assumption for most people is that he's playing Plastic Man. Um I I still think that's a solid casting. That's who he's playing. Um there are two other actors that were cast, and a lot of people are believing that one of them could potentially be playing Martian Manhunter. Um so I I I hope that's the case. Like, I'm here for more Justice League members and start to start to get this ball rolling. That's what I was gonna say.
SPEAKER_02Do you think this is the beginning of that starting?
SPEAKER_00Well, like I was saying to you, like we're too far along now. Like you you don't need to you already introduced who you introduced in the first Superman movie. Right. If if uh Adriana Ojona is Wonder Woman and and not um the other character that they were Maxima, to me that's a much better like fit of having her be Diana than than Maxima. And then the other casting rumor was like Maxima's I I don't even I'm not familiar with Maxima that very much in the comics, but I guess she has she has a partner um that's you know that could potentially be the other casting that they that they announced. Yeah. So I don't know. If if it was up to me, she's Wonder Woman, we're moving forward with Justice League. Maybe we get maybe we get the introduction at Batman by the end of the movie, and we get like he's the cutscene or or whatever the case may be. Um but if Martian Manhunter's involved, I'm here for it. I really would have loved to see Sterling K Brown get a crack at uh John Jones. He was one of the people who would like was very adamant that like he wanted a shot. He was even trying to like campaign his his fan base to like you know give him the shot at playing the role. Um he played a role very similar in Supernatural. Um he was like another hunter on Supernatural that ended up eventually getting turned into like a vampire. And the way he played that, I I could very easily see him like killing it as Martian Manhunter. So I I don't know. I don't know if if if it is a possibility still for him to get the role or if this other actor that they cast is is coming into play, John. But either way, I'm here for more Justice League people. I I I want to see them start to get this going because if we're getting a Bane and Deathstroke movie and we're getting Clayface and all of these other things, like we need Batman. And we got the the quicker we get to Batman the better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and and that could that fact that we're getting those movies can be the signs that we are moving into the JSA era quickly than we expect. So hopefully that's that's what the what the what the facts are.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And speaking of Batman, um we got basically basically confirmation of everything we had talked about for the past previous weeks. Um the guy who played Tywin Lannister basically is is is is taking the role as um the older Dent. Uh Scarlett Johansson playing Gilda Dent, Sebastian Stan playing Harvey Dent. Um it definitely, definitely is giving me Corda Alves vibes with this, especially with some of the other castings he announced. Um he announced, I don't know the actor's name. He was in Bullet Train with uh with Brad Pitt. He's the the black guy from that. Um he was also in the Godzilla movies.
SPEAKER_02Uh and internals, I know who you're talking about. Yes. Oh no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00It's not this, is it the same guy from Eternals?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he played the dude who did like can make this whatever.
SPEAKER_00So so he was added on to this too, and I don't know who he's playing. The rumor no the the the rumor I had heard, which was even more interesting to me, was that he was playing Harvey Bullock. And I was like, oh, I like that because you you have Jeffrey Wright playing Jim Gordon, so like to have him be Harvey would be awesome. Like, I would love to see that dynamic between those two actors. Um so I I'm here for it. Um they also announced like three or four other actors that weren't announced as part of like the main cast listing, but Matt Reeves took to Twitter and was posting like official stills that he's already been shooting of these actors on set and and using it as the way to announce that they're part of the movie. There's always the possibility that Robert Pattinson is our Batman when it's all said and done. They're investing so much fucking money into this movie. It's been however many years, five years, six years in between films. So like I I could very well see a scenario where like they just say, hey, we've put so much time and effort into this Batman, let's just fucking do it. It's not what I want. Um I don't feel like Matt Reeves' version of Batman fits with James Gunn DCU. I still think this whole thing is very confusing to normal people, especially they're gonna see a Batman movie coming out, they're gonna think it's all part of this other stuff that they're seeing, and then we're gonna have another Batman get rolled out. Um I just to me, like that's a very gray area. I know that the only reason this got made was because Penguin did so well. If Penguin didn't deliver, Penguin was like a quiet surprise for HBO that they did not see coming. And if if that show wasn't as successful as it was, I I don't think we're getting this second Batman movie all these years later. Um, it was revealed by Matt Reeves uh from the shot of the Batmobile. It is gonna be winter in Gotham. So we we do have snow, possibility of Mr. Freeze being involved in this storyline. Um that was the original kind of rumors going into this originally was that like we were getting like a quarter owls Mr. Freeze story. They could have easily like reworked this to make it Harvey Dent and make it like Harvey's family and like his father's part of the court.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, and make I mean sticking it more to what the penguins uh storyline was with the with the more of the mob life of Gotham and stuff like that, because that works.
SPEAKER_00That is like the Court of Owl story. So like when you read the Court of Owl story, you come to find out that like the four families that are established families in Gotham are the Elliots, which is Tommy Elliot, who ends up becoming Hush, the Cobblepots, which is Oswald Cobblepot Penguin, the the Fries, which is Victor Freeze, um, and the Waynes. So and the Canes, which is uh um Martha Wayne's maiden name. So the those five families were the found founding five f uh families of Gotham. They had worked with the court and were integral in like knowing about the court and its existence and and everything like that, and the and the reason why these families were so successful was because of the court of owls. So I could see them doing that with the dents instead, and like the dents are are one of those five families, and and maybe subbing out one of the other ones, which I'm fine with. Because I do believe, if I'm not mistaken, Tommy Elliott and and his whole storyline was used in the first one basically as like uh part of Riddler's whole thing. So that could be a way of like, alright, we use the Elliots in the first movie, let's kind of we're we're not gonna use Hush or Tommy going forward, so let's kind of make it Harvey instead. And I could see that scenario where like Bruce and Harvey grew up together, you know what I mean? And like they they were I could very easily see that story transitioning over to Harvey because we're we're reading Absolute Batman now, currently, where like that's part of the story. It's like Harvey, Penguin, Whalen, and Riddler are all his buddies and Selena. Like, so I could see them kind of encompassing that into the movie and and making it all work, which I'm fine with. Um but I I'm here for Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent. I think he's gonna kill it. And and again, I would be remiss not to say, like, he's right there for Luke Skywalker. I don't know what you guys are waiting on. Um he's only getting older, and Mark Hamill's already old enough. Uh just Sebastian Stan's right there. Just go cast him for Luke Skywalker and move on.
SPEAKER_02Um they had the whole ass stuff on the on the nail for me. Um I'm I'm I I love the castings that they we got so far. It stuck like it's like it's gonna be a real stunner of a of a movie, and I'm ready for Batman Part 2. I I know you don't like Robin, I mean, but Patterson I'm okay with him. I'm okay with that. They can make it, they can make it, however, however, to make sure they blend.
SPEAKER_00I don't hate the first movie. Um I just I just think it's a very different take on Batman, and and that's cool. Like Matt Reeves really wanted to do something different, and he did. And and I'm cool with that. I have no issues with that at all. I just for me, the way this DCU is already like shaping out and the the shows and stuff you've done already, I I go back to the boys with Jensen Eccles, and to me, he is the perfect person to fit into this universe and be Batman and be your straight man to all of the crazy shit going on in in Gotham. Um and and you know, going in in the DC universe. If you're gonna have all these like funny guys being part of the the Justice League, having somebody who can just play like the straight guy to all the comedy, I think would be the the more ideal situation than like fitting Robert Pattinson into into that. But um, yeah. Speaking of speaking of the boys, it it it's rumored that he's not gonna appear in the season finale of the show. Um in this last week's episode, Homelander locked him back in a cryotube, and it kind of seems like that's it for Soldier Boy for the rest of this season, and we're gonna have to wait until his vault rising uh spin off that that comes out either later this year or the beginning of next year to kind of get more. Um but yeah, that was kind of disappointing when I saw that that they were saying that he's not gonna appear in the finale because the way they set all this up, it it kind of almost seemed like Soldier Boy was gonna factor in heavy into the finale. But um, yeah. So um, one of the other things that came out was uh the official trailer for backrooms. Uh we got another look at that. Um, the viral phenomenon that started on YouTube with an 18 year old kid, 17 at the time, making these movies and and these videos that ended up turning into like viral sensations so much that the studio gave this man a movie deal and basically said here just make us a movie and um that's so crazy still to this day to hear that. It looks super cool. They set up a um uh an experience out in California like it's called the backrooms it's basically like a backrooms setup where like you can go into this place and walk through all these different backrooms. My friend Laura had sent me a video uh regarding it and like showing me the the the the the influencer that had gone through in like all the different rooms so that was pretty cool. Um but yeah it it looks like it could be a fun movie. I still not have not gone and and looked at any of the YouTube stuff to see like any of the older movies to see like all right am I gonna like what this movie's gonna be I I kind of feel like I'll just probably watch this movie and then go from go from there. Like if I like the movie I'll I'll go back and watch like the YouTube stuff. But it looks like it looks like it's gonna be a fun time it looks like it's gonna be you know a a pretty interesting horror movie. Psychological whatever however you want to grab it. Yeah for sure but yeah I'm I'm I'm looking forward to that um another big announcement was George Lucas said that the uh the George Lucas Museum uh has an official date now of September 22nd. So it is right outside the University of Southern California campus.
SPEAKER_02Uh USC is George Lucas's alma mater so um I believe the deal they worked out was he either purchased land from the University of California or like worked it to where the museum is part of the school technically um but the thing looks incredible uh it's it's it's it looks like a building looks crazy I couldn't even believe this was even a a museum I was like this gotta be a like for a movie and the crazy part was originally he wasn't gonna have anything Star Wars in this museum.
SPEAKER_00Like he yeah he had originally kind of made peace with the fact of like this is just gonna be a museum for uh preserving Hollywood preserving legacy of achievements and and for um furthering technology so like people like James Cameron have stuff in there for for you know him creating that that special camera to to do Titanic avatar and then all of the different stuff um there are gonna be all kinds of props from all different movies Steven Spielberg uh ton of stuff from there ton of stuff from Jurassic Park um but there is going to be an official Star Wars section um I believe the whole entire Naboo Starfighter from episode one is going to be hanging from the ceiling in one of the the areas uh Doug Chang had kind of talked about some of the stuff that they had donated you know for the museum so there will be a Star Wars section. Um the original concept had like Rancho Obi-Wan which is the biggest Star Wars collection in the entire world um as part of this but it seems like they're trying to do something else with some other collectors and like make a full Star Wars museum in California. So stay tuned to that uh follow Rancho Obi-Wan Steve Sansweet is a fantastic guy um and you can donate and become a member and you get like a nice little kit every year from from Rancho Obi-Wan uh if you ever get the chance to go out there it's fantastic you can drink one and and go tour the whole entire Star Wars facility that they have out there. It's it's really a lot of fun. But I'm I'm hoping that eventually Steve can can get that done too so we can have like the proper Star Wars museum of of everything. And and I think it's Steve Sandsuite and two other collectors like a a UK based Star Wars collector and somebody else who's like big on merchandising and they want to partner together to to basically you know make this Star Wars museum. So I'm excited to see the the George Lucas Museum I'm excited to see like the walkthrough I'm excited to see people actually like how it's unveiled I did see a lot of digital renders and a lot of stuff that he showed off. I think it was at Comic Con last year if I'm not mistaken that like he did a presentation on it might have been New York Comic Con. But he did like show off a bunch of digital renders of like how the rooms are going to look and and how you know everything's gonna be set up. Was he was he there for ToyCon this year? Maybe that's what it was I know it was like one of the conventions this year that he did and and had like a sit down and then I think he limited it to like he was only he was only going to take like one Star Wars question when it was all said and done. So I I know like for whatever reason I don't know if it has to do with with Marsha or just the fact that he sold it and moved on but George kind of seems to not want to really be involved in Star Wars or or like us have to be asked about it or to to give his thoughts on like what Disney's doing with it. And I don't blame him. It's almost like an ex-girlfriend that you move on from and like you don't want to talk about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I I I and like especially like it ended his marriage like and like when you when you watch um icons on earth and and you get to see Marsha who like was basically removed from the movie like her credits and everything like she was the person who edited the original movies and like is the reason why the movies are even half as good as they are so it's just a very messy situation I can understand why George like kind of doesn't want to acknowledge it anymore and just kind of wants to move on from it. Yeah. I I really want to make my way out there I I wasn't able to you know get to celebration so I said well maybe I can make it out there for this and do some stuff whatever after parties or events that's gonna be going on during celebration and it's also it's also close to my to my uh those tickets those tickets were long gone I I waited in the queue um for about two and a half hours and those tickets were gone. By the time you even couldn't could even get one right I was there for two and a half hours I was one of the first people and like the way it it's randomized the way it jumps around the queue so like it's a lottery system but from what I heard a lot of people had trouble getting tickets. A lot of people that have gone to like every celebration couldn't get tickets for it. And apparently there was some sort of scandal that went around where like if you had VIP tickets from last year you got early access to the tickets this year and they said a lot of people bought like 20 tickets at in a clip just fucking because they had early access. So like the tickets were gone before like the four day tickets and VIPs were gone before general tickets even actually went on sale and then everybody was just scrambling to grab days and and put together like their itinerary. Now my original plan was I was only planning on getting a one day ticket. I didn't want to be there for four days if I'm going to California I'll spend one day at the convention see a bunch of my friends from from all over the world and then I'm gonna go out to California I'm you know I'm gonna go see California. That's why I would go to California. So I was only really looking for one day uh I was gonna catch up with my buddy Bill um who who gave me this who's that's behind me um and some of my other Star Wars pals but yeah unfortunately I won't be there um but yeah sorry uh I I hope it comes to New York at some point I've been saying that for years I don't know I don't understand how the Disney is worldwide over that we have we have the best convention center in the Javit Center in in pretty much one of the whole country um so Star Wars celebration in New York like come on come on I don't want to go to work I I know they like having it close by the theme parks so like they can do their meetups at Galaxy's edge and all that but come on New York is is like a I mean they did it at Chicago they did it in freaking Tokyo like what's the difference like if you've done it they do it in Orlando and California normally Chicago they've only done it a couple times because Chicago is like where George is from originally so like that's kind of why they went and did Chicago I don't know why we've never had a New York one but I'm dying for one so Star Wars if you're listening Lucasfilm if you're listening Jabbit Center is right there. Book it I'll be there um I could drive there California I gotta spend a lot of money to get to but talk about it because the hotel was not cheap either. Well like I and I would have been fine with with the like a flight or driving out there or getting a hotel it was just the tickets for me and it was just like all right do do I want to sit here all day and just try to get a one day ticket or like after a couple hours do I just say fuck it. And that's kind of where I was at when it was all said and done it was like I've been here for two and a half hours just waiting on this computer I'm I'm done. I'm not it it's fine. It's not meant to be yeah um but yeah so those of you that are going enjoy it have fun um I'm looking forward to watching it on YouTube like I do every year and and you know watching it that's the other reason too that I was just like it's whatever.
SPEAKER_02I I watch I love this because of the I watch it every year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah yeah I I I like coming home from work and it's on and I can just watch some of the panels and see what's going on and just enjoy it that way. It's a lot better than having to deal with all those people and be involved in all that crowd work. So I'm I'm good with all of all of that. Comics of the week what do you got this week? This week we got uh we're probably gonna have some of the same but it's it's only right number 20 of absolute batman so excited to get into this I've already seen there's some stuff with Joker in here so I can't wait to see what they're doing when with the Robins are a little where they left off at um and then I got this Captain America this is the part six to uh Jish Gadarsky yeah and um we're we're getting close to the army getting stuff going in in full throttle um still so I'm excited for that and then I didn't even know I had this in my freaking pile but they gave me Astonishing Mas Morales this number one the art of the whip I'm excited to get into this to see what what my boy's been up to but um yeah like uh the art in here I I also really liked a lot um I think we got it's let me tell you who it is it's Dondo Sanchez Sanchez um so yeah those are my comments for the week okay good picks um so I have Maul Shadow Lord uh issue three uh the prelude came out uh this pretty much gives you a little bit more backstory on vario and how Lawson ended up like encountering various and then you finally after three issues get Darth Maul showing up in the in the final uh pages of this um where basically you see you see him interrogate somebody to get the information on Demas to set up what we had seen take place in the show already so it was cool like a little prequel that that kind of added in some more of that backstory um I I I did hear more from the actor who played Lawson which I didn't realize it's the same guy like I knew the name Narcos yeah I didn't realize it was Pablo Escobar. So um I had seen his interview and I was like son of a bitch I knew I like I knew the name and I just couldn't put the name to the face and then like his voice is so different in in in this I definitely think he's coming back for season two or three um and we're gonna get like that storyline being played out and resolved. My other pick yeah you're damn right I got the Jason Todd cover um I had to had to get my boy Jason he he was there um this was okay so I'm gonna be honest I love this book I I love Scott Snyder this is this is no ill will towards anybody and this is Titans right no this is absolute Batman this is absolute the the issue you just held up you see this is the same cover I didn't even know they had this like I didn't even know he had his he had a variant like that. So they they had they did Robin variants for each one of them they had a Dick Grayson variant they had a Jason Todd they had a uh uh Tim Drake and they had a Stephanie Brown so there there was four different variants you could grab with each one of them on the cover. I had to represent from my boy Jason. Of course but I do feel like this Gundam thing is jumping the shark a little bit like I understand absolute Batman it's been crazy it's been all over the place but this is a little fucking too much for me. Seeing them show up the way they did and and how how Bruce is going to take down these fucking things, I don't really know. But we are we we did find out last issue that you know the the the way this is different than the regular continuality is that Joker adopted all of the kids. So basically anyone who's been a Robin Duke Thomas Stephanie Brown Tim Drake uh Dick Grayson the only one who's not I believe is Damien. I don't think Damien is like involved in this but um they are all basically the orphans that Joker took in and raised and trained into his little Robin army. So they're all gonna square up with Batman next week the way this issue ends is them kind of jumping Batman on on his way from dealing with Scarecrow and then it kind of goes from there. Also it was very interesting Scarecrow seems to be connected with Joker um and basically unveils to Bruce that the whole thing was was a plan from the beginning. Like Bruce's life from Square One has been to basically get him to become Batman. Which was an interesting twist. He kind of breaks down some of the quarter owl stuff and and some of the stuff from the zoo and like why it was a bat and how it was important and we figured what what's better than than a bat uh because the bat is the enemy of an owl and like you know like they combat each other so I was like okay like it makes sense and this version of Scarecrow is is fucking crazy. He's like Dwight Schroot like from the office just like scary um it's it's and he's like smokes his fear toxin is in in in the cigarettes that he smokes. So when he blows out the smoke the the fear toxins smoke.
SPEAKER_02So really cool that's how I really feel about cigarettes too.
SPEAKER_00You do get to see Whalen uh whaling killer croc is kind of back to being human for the most part he the the the amulet that Bruce gave him did work. Uh his eyes though are still reptile eyes so like he takes off his sunglasses while he's talking to Riddler and basically he's trying to get the gang together to go help Bruce and uh he knows that they have to but Eddie's kind of off of his rocker since he had pieces of his brain removed and Two Face is basically hunting down all of the all of the the inmates that he convicted that were thrown out because he was friends with Batman. Harvey's basically hunting all of those people down. So I guess there's 59 or 60 people that that Harvey's already killed and since he's been like on this spree and you're watching like Penguin really become like Penguin. And um so it's been cool to see I'm interested to see how they're gonna bring them all together. We do have Absolute Catwoman coming out at some point soon so that'll kind of continue her story as well. So I'm interested to see like how it all kind of blends together but yeah the the book is still phenomenal. I'm loving what Snyder's doing I just for me the Gundam thing kind of was just like oh I I don't know this might be a little too crazy but we'll see how it all plays out. And Joker is like I still don't know like what he's actually supposed to be like he what is he actually doing like he transforms into something in the beginning like he's you see him in a chair and there's like all these fetuses that are like growing off of him and stuff.
SPEAKER_02Like I don't actually know what he's supposed to be and then like in the in the the single Joker story you saw him like transform into like a big giant dragon so I really don't know but I guess we're gonna find out so yeah that'll do it for comics of the week did you have anything that you were watching this week um who will be watching this week um yes watching um it's based off of a video game you may have heard of it it's called Devil May Cry they recently came out with a season two of that so I've been trying to watch that I was watching that yesterday um and then also this is like on my background me and my my one friend she's uh she's watching Naruto Shipwriting so she's telling me about it and she asks if I can like kind of like watch along because that way I I because I kind of forgot something so I'm I'm re-watching that as like a background show at this at the at the moment um so may cry so shout out to Scout Taylor Compton I love her um she's fantastic um and Johnny Bosch the black power ranger from Power Rangers is is the other voice on that show so yeah yeah the show's been really great so far I mean I've played the game so it's they are really going heavy on the Devil May Cry 5 side of things especially with Virgil so I can't wait to get with it. And the music in this is crazy. Like there's like they've played music like almost the whole time when they're doing these action scenes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah her and um her uh Scott K Taylor Compton and Daniel Harris have a new horror movie that's gonna be coming out soon with the two of them like reuniting. They were originally in the Rob Zombie Halloween movies. She played Lori in in that in Rob Zombie's version um so they had uh Scream uh what was it Scream for me or whatever their horror they had a horror podcast that was going for a really long time so they're gonna be reuniting to to do like a horror movie that they wrote and directed. So that should be really cool. I'm really looking forward to that um the thing that I watched and started to watch is Lord of the Flies on Netflix. I've it's one of my favorite books it's it's it's up there for me. So watching this adaptation it's it's it's taken me a while to get through it because these episodes are like very nuanced it's it's not really moving fast. It's it's kind of really taking its time on the island and and setting up the whole story. Basically for those of you guys that don't know Lord of the Flies it's a story about like a prep school charter plane that that crashes on a desert island and these kids basically are left there to survive for themselves and you have like an older group of kids and like a younger group of kids and they start off all like kind of working together but eventually the tribalism and the savagism because they're on this island starts to kind of take over and the older kids kind of split from the younger kids and kind of hunt them. And um yeah shit gets crazy as like the book goes on. But um so far like I like the cast that they the the kids that they cast in the show it it's pretty solid. It's just the the first episode was like it took me forever to get through it because I was like alright like is something going to happen. Like we're kind of doing a lot of exposition here and a lot of like drawing things out and and I know it's a lot to kind of get through so I was interested to see how they were going to be able to pull this off but uh yeah it was okay. And I did um I tuned in I I didn't watch the whole card but I did tune in for the Ron Razi Gina Carano Yeah I only seen a clip of that I didn't get to see the whole thing either that's all you needed to see they did they did more time doing the intros and more time hugging after the fight than the fight actually took place.
SPEAKER_02Yeah she knocked her out like 20 seconds or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Not knocked her out she rolled her into the arm bar in in 17 seconds that fight was over that's insane. I wanted to see them stand and fight for a little while Gina came out swinging but Rhonda was not getting caught like she got caught with Holly home. I thought for the money that they were getting I thought that they wanted to put on a big fight that maybe she would stand with her a little while but like every Ronda fight it was always a matter of how she gonna get the armbar and how quick is she going to get the arm bar. And this fight was no different. Like she took Gina down immediately. Gina got two punches that she threw before Ronda double legged her and took her down and then Rhon got on top in full mount Gina had her in in a headlock and was trying to hold her off for a little while but the minute Ronda got out of the headlock and got into full mount there was like a split moment of hesitation on Ronda's part and you saw it. You saw her see the arm and Gina give her the arm and then you almost saw Rhonda like debate whether she was going to do it or she wasn't and like I thought again because this was a bigger fight that maybe they wanted to make a show out of it that she kind of would have let would have let Gina get up and they would have squared up a little bit. But as soon as I saw her take the arm I was like well it's over and like literally I looked down I looked back up the fight was already over um she literally rolled her right over into the arm bar and that was it Gina tasked. I will say I do think from the beginning this whole entire fight was a bit of a PR um oh a PR stunt yeah no not a stunt I I think more so it was uh a PR rehab I guess I should say for Gina Um, which I feel like it did its job in doing. Um she she had a lot of stuff going on. She had all the comedy she did, she had everything else that took place, her getting canceled, her becoming pre-diabetic, which we found out in like the pre-fight thing that they showed. Um she looks phenomenal, she lost a ton of weight. I I feel like this is gonna help her career going forward to maybe where she starts getting some acting things. She came across uh more of herself in in in this than she has in the past couple years. So I do feel like the the the the PR aspect of that for rehabbing Gina Carano worked and and will work you know going forward.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I I I believe I I had a really, really busy weekend this weekend, so I I I totally forgot about it. It slipped my mind. But yesterday it was at a birthday party, and one of my family members mentioned it to me, and they said the same thing that they missed it, but they they got to catch what like the clips.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because that's all it was. That like all pretty pretty much most of the fights were all one round fights. There was one fight that went a couple rounds that got real bloody, but otherwise, like everything was over pretty quick by either knockout or in the Rhonda case of submission. So she did her thing. Um, I saw people like comparing it to Tyson, and I was like, you mean Rhonda? Like, it's always been Rhonda. Like any Rhonda fight, it was always, you know, it wasn't a matter of like when, it was a matter of of how she was gonna get the arm and and how she was gonna tap somebody out. And like she she did it here. So kudos to her. I know Rhonda has a program set up for AEW already. Um, I don't know. They she already has made appearances for AEW before this fight. Um, her friend, her best friend, uh Marina Schaeffer is is part of that. Um I'm guessing going forward she's gonna be doing more of these types of fights. I don't think she's gonna be fighting. I think she's just gonna be helping some of these other girls get fights and get noticed and get get put over through Netflix. Um so yeah, good for her. They set up an angle with her and Tony Storm on AEW. Tony Storm is out with what a lot of people are presuming is is having her first child. So I my guess it'll probably be sometime next year that that they'll be able to kind of go back to the program. But I'm guessing Rhonda will end up being a part of AEW going forward. I wouldn't be shocked to see that. Okay. Well, that'll do it for this episode of Talkin' Supes. If you made it this long, please make sure to like, comment, and subscribe. Give us a follow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Leave us a review if you if you're listening to the show. Um, it helps get more people to see it.
