SPEAKER_01

Yes, sir. Pretty nice week. Uh light, but we're good that we have to talk about today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, there's um there's definitely a lot going on. The first thing, most importantly, um, I'm gonna jump ahead because I will do House of the Dragons secondly. Um No, no, it's that's completely fine. For for those of the people watching the podcast, you can see I'm wearing my Magneto hoodie. Um, X-Men 97, season two, episode four, and we basically have the confirmation now of what happened with Magneto. Um we can go back to the clip, we can do what we did last time, go back to the previous Rio. But like I said, uh Magneto was the sacrificial lamb in this episode and kind of kind of caught the brunt ant, and and boy, oh man, did they did they do this in such a fantastic way? Like I was blown away. I couldn't believe for a for an animated show that they went to this extent in this episode. Um, I did not expect to get some of the things that we got. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, like so early on, basically, too. And um it it it had a lot of salinarities as the Gambit episode for me, so yeah, I know what you mean.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, no, um I I loved how much of the apocalypse origin they were able to get into these episodes. I loved the fact that like so like the in the comics, that apocalypse origin is broken up over years and years of continuality. Like that's in I want to say three different stories, and so they were able to take all the bits from each different story and make it like a concise history of like here's how Apocalypse became apocalypse. And then because of the continuality of X-Men and 97 and like what they were doing with the past, present, future storyline, they incorporated the past storyline into his origin to affect the future and kind of knock all the dominoes down for the whole entire season, if that makes any sense. Like, did you pick up on that? Like, so I guess what I'm trying to explain to the to the people listening is they set up the fact of the Magneto arc of Magneto trying to be the one to like reign in Apocalypse early on in his life. So it's almost a butterfly effect because they were in the past. What he did in the past is gonna affect the future, and Apocalypse is gonna remember what happened in the past for the rest of his eternity. Um the the conversation with Rogue around the fire, where Rogue talks about Gambit and and tells her, you know, tells Apocalypse about how much Gambit meant, how she would do anything to see him again and have him back, that's all gonna play a role in the future of the season because it's gonna be a conversation that Apocalypse remembers from early on. Um just those bits and and those little like story blocks that they've been setting up, I absolutely love. Like I just thought that was phenomenal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the little foresh uh tell a foreshadowing that they're doing with you know with the things that we know are coming based off what we've seen in the last uh season, and and yeah, those things are freaking amazing. Um yeah, I I I can't I can't agree more.

SPEAKER_00

I just um I I I like I said I love the incorporation of um Nathaniel Richards, Amortis Kang, all the different variations. I love his presentation in this. I'm I'm glad the fact that they went back to the original design from the original 97 show. Um, yeah, there was just so many things about this episode that to me just like really clicked and and really just just kind of set this whole season now in motion because now like we're here, we're we're ready to go, and now the X-Men are all back in the past or all back in the present. Um Apocalypse is gonna be doing what he's doing there. They kind of set up the the where we're gonna go for the next episode. It seems like the next episode is going to be the Wolverine episode with him getting the animation. Um that whole thing was really cool. That little cutscene that they had at the very end was was really awesome to see Natasha Romanoff uh Black Widow and to see Steve R Steve Rogers show up. Um it was the voice actors from the What If show. So the the voice actor for that played Cap for What If and the voice actor for that played Natasha and What If, they both voice the characters for 97. So I thought that was a great addition. Um and yeah, set up like the the setup for the Weapon X reunion. So I'm hoping we're gonna get Bandom X. I really hope like with this Grant Morrison. Uh this they they've been using things from Grant Morrison's arc so far. So incorporating Weapon X in this way. Um, I'm not sure if you're familiar even with it, but Captain America is actually weapon one in the Weapon X program. Um, he's actually the first soldier that was ever made for the Weapon X program. Um, it eventually became Weapon X. It wasn't at the time. So Phantom X, uh, I would love to see him involved in this in this episode or or this story arc because he would be a character that would be perfect to bring into this world.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that would be awesome. Um, but also I want to speak on the point about what you said about Kang and you know how we got to see the celestials here more um than we usually did. And although I know this isn't connected to the MCU, it's cool to see like as if these were maybe the plans that they had way back when before everything got miss messed up, and to to see how it can be related to the MCU in in in little ways with uh celestials and with Kang the Conqueror and stuff like that. But I thought it was cool that they introduced them here.

SPEAKER_00

I think this was this is a comic origin, like this is straight from the comics, both the celestials and and the Kang stuff. Um, I don't think this was anything they were gonna try to incorporate into the MCU only because it's too complicated for them to try to do in the MCU. It they'd have to over-explain this. And if you're watching 97, I think you have all the information you need in the watching the show.

SPEAKER_01

On that note, too, though, isn't it crazy though, that like how in the MCU right now we're like so lost with like all the things that we're doing with time traveling. But with the X-Men, they just make everything so simple and they just do whatever they want. It's so crazy how that works.

SPEAKER_00

It's very straightforward. It's it's there already. So like it's already built into the show, it's been a part of the show since the original incarnation of it. So the fact that like they're able to do it well is it just shows you know the the what happens when you actually can write good stories and and execute the story. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, I was really enjoying this episode for sure. I can't wait for the next one.

SPEAKER_00

I love the fact that Kang sets up um the um the Eternals too, and uh not the Eternals, um the externals. Um we see the his like assistant at the very end was is the first one. And so like that being put into motion too was just cool to see on this show. It's like that's not something that like I would have ever expected them to touch on or or bring up. Um basically what they are, it's like a storyline from the 12 and apocalypse that that goes back to the 90s, basically about these X-Men characters that like no matter how many times they die, they'd always come back. Dazzler is one of them. Um there's a whole bunch. So it's cool that they kind of established that at one point and and kind of set that you know storyline up for the future. But yeah, I am uh I am really, really looking forward to seeing how they continue to do this season because these first a couple episodes have been phenomenal. And then, yeah, the the end moment of um Magneto and Apocalypse showing down, Bishop gets everybody else out of there. Um Magneto wraps Apocalypse in a ball of metal and shoots him out of the temple to try to protect Charles and basically has to willingly sacrifice himself to get inside this black hole and use his magnetism to try to um disrupt this and and stop the the mortis engine essentially from from taking place. And in the process, Magneto gets gets you know ripped to shreds. He ends up basically in the sand, pretty much near his death. Um Charles is out of his chair crawling towards Magneto. Uh Magneto is in a crater in the sand, in like with a hill overlooking him. And just as Charles gets close enough to Magneto to almost reach him, he's about maybe 10-15 feet away from him. And and and over the top of the sand dune comes Apocalypse just walking. And the conversation that he gives to Charles basically is is, you know, that that they're all ants, and that, you know, why why would he be concerned with with an ant? And he picks up Magneto by the top of his helmet, he holds the helmet and basically gives Charles uh a moment to lie to Eric. He he tells him, you know, lie to him and tell him that everything's gonna be okay, Charles. And Charles basically beams himself into Magneto's head and tells him he's sorry. And Apocalypse uses it, changes his arm into a gun and basically disintegrates Magneto right there in front of Charles. And the only thing left is the helmet, um, which Apocalypse is still holding, and he just tosses it in front of Xavier and walks past him, leaves Xavier alive and just basically walks right past him because he's nothing to you know, Charles means absolutely nothing to Apocalypse. And the way they did this was just fucking phenomenal. Like I said, I literally sat here watched the episode and I was just like, wow, like for a cartoon for them to do this, this is stuff that they were not able to do in the 90s version of the show. Um, the the 90s version of the show was very, very hampered down by the FCC, and because it was a kid's cartoon, you know, for for the most part, they couldn't do this type of shit. So the fact that they were able to literally execute the apocalypse arc to a T, like from start to finish, and then the fact that they were able to include this whole Magneto death and and the way they showed it, absolutely fantastic. Hats off to the creators of the show.

SPEAKER_01

Absolute cinema, right? So um, two things that I really loved about this episode too is like um you know, with with Apocalypse, they almost were so close from getting him to to change the path of of the future, basically. Um, and it's just so crazy because I'm somebody who never really understood Apocalypse's like whole MO and why he is the way he is. And I think watching this show was a great example of why he is. Now, I'm sure there's other reasons why he does what he does, but just the simple fact of like you guys lied to me, and now I I freaking hate all you people now.

SPEAKER_00

It's survival of the fittest. That's that's his method.

SPEAKER_01

That's yeah, that he that the the ones who can survive will be there, and the ones who can't, you get kicked to the curb. Yeah, I get I get it. That's it's insane.

SPEAKER_00

And and if if you're new to all of this, a great story arc to read would be uh Teeny Howard's Excalibur, where you get to actually dive into Apocalypse and Krikoa and all of that stuff, and you kind of basically see how Araco was was formed and how his message is instilled into those people, and like you fight for everything you have, you have to earn your place. If you can't, you die. And that's basically Apocalypse. Apocalypse's mythology is you know, it's it's it's only the strong will survive, and if you're not strong enough, you'll you're you're weak. And basically that's it. So yeah, this uh this this season so far is shaping up to be fucking incredible. I cannot wait um to to see the next episode, especially if it is the standalone Wolverine one. Um we did we did see the cuckoo.

SPEAKER_01

That's my that's gonna be my favorite.

SPEAKER_00

We did see the cuckoos early on in this, in this, uh, at the beginning of this, so I I don't think they're gonna incorporate them into this into the Weapon X storyline, even though they're supposed to be part of it too. It's it's almost kind of hinted at that um the cuckoos are actually Cap is the father and Emma Frost is is the mother, but they were they were petri dished, so like it's not like they actually slept together. But in the comics, that's kind of the the the prevailing theory is that Cap is actually like the DNA for for the cuckoos.

SPEAKER_01

So cool little little Easter egg there. Do you think in this next episode with Wolverine going to go do the weapon X stuff, like we're gonna get like that full Weapon X team, like with Deadpool and Saberdooth and stuff?

SPEAKER_00

No Deadpool.

SPEAKER_01

No Deadpool, okay.

SPEAKER_00

No, it'll be Sabretooth, it'll be Sabretooth, Lady Death Strike, Morph, and uh maybe Maverick. But yeah. Omega Raddy think? No. Bam. That'll be dope. Um, but yeah, no, I it's it's it's already it's sabertooth, lady, death strike, morph, and wolverine. That's the team. Um, there's a possibility Maverick's included in this, but yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Maverick, yeah, that would be awesome.

SPEAKER_00

That's why I'm hoping Phantom X will be involved. He would be the perfect character for them to introduce being part of the facility and being in the facility already. Him and um uh the other like his sentinel robot would be really cool to show off. So yeah, that would be a cool little thing, especially with Grant Morris in early 2000s. It makes sense for the for the time period. Mm-hmm. Yeah, that would be dope. Yeah, because Dark.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe Morris turns into Deadpool. We'll get that cameo.

SPEAKER_00

He already did in the first in in his first uh in his first fight in this season, he turned into Deadpool.

SPEAKER_01

I missed it. Maybe that's why I'm getting it confused with with him being in this next episode.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so far Deadpool is not in in any of the show at all proper. It's uh actually he was only in the original 97 show. He was shown on a TV screen at one point, but any other time he's been shown in 97, it's been Morph changing into him. I gotta go back and check that out. Yeah, they're not gonna, I don't think they're gonna include Wade in this show at all, uh, other than Morph turning into him. That's the I don't I think that's purposeful because they want to separate the two. Um this is its own standalone thing, it's not gonna be incorporated with the MCU whatsoever. So um, yeah, but they I'm loving this season so far. It's it's been really, really cool, and uh yeah, I can't wait to continue to see what goes on. Thanks, man. I'm loving this. Can't wait. Um, another great show that's on currently is House of the Dragon. We got episode five, right? Or episode four. I'm I'm kind of losing track of the episode. I think we're on four right now. Um, but this was an this was another fantastic episode. So much stuff that they did in this in this episode, particularly, that again is is foreshadowing. And I don't know if you can see the writing on the wall. I don't know if you're picking up on some of the things that are taking place and going.

SPEAKER_01

There's a lot of there's a lot, so be specific with me because we can get into it.

SPEAKER_00

So I guess we'll start with um with Aegon. Um him and Clubfoot are on, you know, have are kind of making their way. They're going back to Aegon's Dragon. Um, his dragon has is is fallen, like we talked about in last week's episode. And this is a little bit different than the books. So um Okay, good. In the books, Aegon's Dragon is still alive. Um Aegon's Dragon is is not dead, his wing is injured, but he's not dead. Um he's still alive, he's able to breathe fire and still be a force in the books. In the show, as of right now, the dragon is dead. Aegon says that he believes that he's not. And this could be a setup for the dragon eventually waking up and and coming to Aegon in a time of need, which I could definitely see them doing that for the show to kind of add some more storylines to it. But uh Aegon and Clubfoot basically are finding refuge with with you know the riff raft uh now in in in this part of Westeros, and they're having a hard time acclimating. Well, Aegon is Aegon's basically asked to sort through human waste, and he's not, you know, he's the king. Uh so if any of these people found out that he was the king, in fact, and and doing all this, like it would be the end. Um he would probably be killed very quickly, and just that would be that. So the the fact that he's going along with it, the fact that they're using the cover story that he was burned by his brother's dragon, um, it it's not not the truth because he was in fact burned by his brother's dragon. Um, but the the way the cover story that they're using is the the town that Aaman burned uh at the end of last season. He just kind of went in and and burned that whole entire town that supported Rhaenyra. Um that's basically the the cover story that they're using, is that they're from there. So they were able to blend in. Um and yeah, we we see like what goes on with them in in that aspect. But the the dragon them not showing us if the dragon is in fact still alive or not is is very different than the books, because in the books we we get a clear indication that yeah, the the dragon's still alive. Um yeah, it's uh it's gonna be interesting to see you know how they they evolved this. I I I can't say too much about this particular topic because it does play into like the end of the story. So if his dragon's dead, it changes a lot. Um and I don't know I I don't know the workaround at that point for for like some things, but yeah, it it it makes it interesting, I guess, in in that regard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, definitely. Um with that storyline though itself, uh I well, because we had talked about it last week or yeah, last week when so then when I seen that I was automatically uh expecting the dragon to just be alive. So when he said when he wasn't, I was just like, Okay, this is not Lurie, this is not book lore-ish. So we're getting some new things going on here. Um did you spoil yourself? Because you didn't know because we talked about we talked to we we I think to me last time.

SPEAKER_00

Nope, I never mentioned the dragon.

SPEAKER_01

But you was like that he that he finds his dragon, so I maybe I might be assuming that he was gonna be alive.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, I did say that he he goes to look for his dragon, which he did, obviously. Um, but yeah, I didn't want to talk too much about his dragon because his dragon is important in in the overall story. So again, if they end up deciding to go a different route with his dragon, still stuff, yeah. But if they end up going to go a different route with his dragon, there are different routes they can go with this story. They are changing some things already. We'll talk about it as the the episode continues to go on. But um the the other thing we start to see is that Rainier is losing control of King's Landing. Um, there's still people writing graffiti, talking shit about her. There's still people um, you know, queen of bastards on the walls. And she's writing that she's still having a hard time finding finding coin. Um, they don't have a lot of gold. They hired a guy now to be master of coin that they can set up to basically be a scapegoat for the people. I don't know if you picked up on that. The only reason that guy got brought on to be master of coin is because when they tell the people that they're out of coin, they'll have somebody to hang and somebody to be mad at. And it's not Reneer, it'll be this guy. So they set this guy up to fail because he was a fucking asshole to Rhaenyra, which you know, great on them for doing that and setting that up that way. Um the other thing is is she promoted the the Meister onto her council. Now this Meister has been basically biding his time and just trying to keep his life because they Damon was ready to kill him immediately. Damon probably should have killed him immediately. Um him doing what he's doing and him getting his way onto the council. Again, another storyline seed that that's being planted here uh very early, and you're you're gonna want to follow that one through. The the other aspect of this is Sir Umph. Um he comes to Rhaenera and asks a couple favors from Rhaenira regarding some of the tavern mates that he has down at the tavern. And Rhaenera basically replies by telling him he can no longer go to the tavern at all because his he's a dragon rider. He can't be out there and be risked getting stabbed, and he tells her, like, not for nothing, but it's my belly. Like, if I get stabbed, I get stabbed. But to Rhaenera, like, you're you're property at this point. You she needs you because she needs the dragon. Um, umph basically backhands it and in a way tells her to go fuck herself by telling her that the people hate her and that that there's graffiti written on the wall. Um of you know the the key. The other person to watch in all of this is um the other Hammer, um the other Dragonite. So he sent he's sent to Duskendale because his wife is in Duskendale, his wife's family is in Duskendale. Currently they're being sieged and by Lord Orman, and yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um Duskendale is a very Duskendale is gonna say she she needs to keep him on her his her good grace because he got the best one of the best dragons there. And she needs to make sure she gets him that shit that he's asking for because so Duskendale.

SPEAKER_00

So what I keep trying to say is Duskendale is a very important location for both of these characters going forward. Um for Sir Umph and for Sir Hammer. They both agree that they're gonna take turns looking over the town until the the opportunity is resolved. That's all I can say. Yeah, like I'm saying, like she needs that I don't know, just something I like him, he's cool and everything, but like all I can say is that these two characters and this location play a pivotal role going forward. Um this is a turning point and this is we saw the seats. We we saw Hugh Hammer trying to save his wife. Will he save his wife? Will his wife's family be harmed? We saw one of her family members was already harmed um at the end of the episode. Will will the greens be able to sway the dragon riders? Will will Sir Umph take not being able to go to a tavern and being rejected for his his couple measly favors that he asked Rhenira for that didn't mean shit? Like they literally meant nothing. He Ranira could have just said yes and been done with it and not even had the conversation with him. But she took it further and wanted to humiliate him on purpose and like make him feel the way he did. So Yeah, these these these things and and they they lead to people's motivations because when you piss people off, they have plenty of a reason to do the things that they do, right? And they have plenty of reason to make the decisions that they make.

SPEAKER_01

So it's gonna be interesting. And things with Damien that's going on too.

SPEAKER_00

We'll talk about crazy. That's that's a whole different topic, but currently Rhenira um and the Dragon Riders is the main thread that I urge a lot of people who do not know what happens in the books to continue to pay attention to and see what happens in the next week or two in the in this show. Um the the other side of this is Lord Orman, who has um the youngest Targaryen, and basically is trying to mold him and try to teach him. And you see that this Lord Orman, we've been seeing throughout this show that he seems very composed, he's got this affliction with smelling and and smells, and constantly has to have different things that he's sniffing and and aromas around him. Basically, we we think he's this composed, like nice guy, has a plan, has a way of going about things, and we get a nice little insight to basically see that, like, no, he's he's a lunatic when things do not go according to plan. And I love the scene because the the young Targaryen kid looks at the stable boy and he's like, get out. And he's like, What? And he's like, just leave, get out now. And then as he leaves, the maid scurries off too behind him, and he just pulls out his sword and just starts hacking away at the fucking table and screaming, you fucking cunt, you fucking fucking stupid cunt. And he's like, You had one fucking thing to do, and then he like sheaths his sword and just sits down calmly and takes another like smell of whatever he's smelling, like nothing even fucking happened. Um, because he basically gets the news that he gets the news from a raven that Aamon left Harrenhall, which we still don't know for the case if Eamon actually left Harrenhall. We haven't seen Eamon, we haven't seen his dragon. Um right. So his his army has left Harrenhall, but Eamon, um, I have a feeling is very much still there. Based off of that next week's trailer, I would say so too. Yeah. Um so yeah, that's that's another interesting thing. We also get to see how he basically manipulates this kid into killing the the townsfolk that he saved earlier. So he makes a point of saving this this guy um and and condemning one of his own troops for trying to rape the one girl and um breaking the other girl's arm. And in the process, now, you know, after doing it publicly and saving everybody, he brings the guy back and basically encourages the kid to kill him. And he comes up with a new plan because he realizes once Eamon left Haranhall, their whole plan is fucked. Them taking this town was all based on Eamon coming from Harrenhall to help them, and now he's not. So they don't have a dragon. The only dragon they have is the little dragon that's that's in the chamber, which is the kid's dragon, and it's the littlest dragon out of all of the dragons in Westeros currently.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So um, because his little baby dragon his hatched with him. His was like a dragon that actually hatched from an egg. Most of these other dragons have been alive for a long time. Um so the the kid basically has to end up killing uh the townsfolk, and then his dragon fillets the body. Um and Ormin basically comes up with the plan of you know what? Both your brothers are fucking assholes. Eamon's not dead, but we think he's dead, and then Eamon is is fucking off doing whatever the fuck he's doing, and he's a fucking madman. Like, I don't even really want to fucking deal with him. So instead they turn around and he decides that he's gonna make this kid a new contestant for the throne, and basically petition and put the high tower name behind him as no, Darren is the is the rightful heir to the throne, um, because his brothers are fucking whatever. So that's the plan now is is Ormond, the High Towers, Old Town, all these other families that are loyal to Ormond are basically going to try to petition to get Darren um to be king. And that's now the now the Greens have split into two, essentially. You have the the Greens, and then you have you know the the ones that they're siding with with Damon, essentially. So yeah. Or Darren, I'm sorry. And and the one a lot of the same names, they come up there, they're all very similar.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Like, so the greens, um, and like um the child who they were cloning, um, they're they're both they're both high towers, right?

SPEAKER_00

So no, the the greens Alison is a high tower, um, the the mother of all of these Targaryen kids. She's a high tower. Her father, Otto, was a high tower. Her family married into the Targaryen family, and then all her kids are the ones who ascended to the throne. Aamon is her kid, Aamon is her kid, the the daughter, so forth. Um so basically, she dis uh Alicent says to Rainier that she decided to send send Darren with Ormin because she wanted one of the kids to be raised a high tower as opposed to being raised a Targaryen. And so that's why this kid has been in the stewardship of Lord Orman for however long that he's been. Um pretty much since he was he was born. He's been his ward. So Orman, instead of going to save his cousin, instead of going to try to you know help Amund or find where Aegon actually is, he's gonna turn around and and you know try to champion this kid now as being the the the contestant for the throne against Bernini. Yes, and um so next week we're gonna see the battle and we're gonna see how that's all gonna play out for them. And uh Damon and his army are gonna be showing up to to go to war with the Winter Wolves. And Damon's story arc in this episode was really cool. Um, we basically get to see him talk to the Vale, and if I don't know if you even remember his original wife was from the Vale, the one that he killed that he that he kicked off the horse and ended up bashing her head in with the rock. Yeah, and that like the first episode that was, I think Yeah, so that was his original wife. That's why this lady does not give a fuck about about Damon the entire time that he's there talking to her. That's why she just wants to pay him gold and get him the fuck out of the veil because she can't stand the side of him. She knows what he did. She knows that that that his wife was one of the most skilled riders on a horseback, that she would have never fallen off a horse. So she knows Damon had something to do with it. That's why she's basically like, I don't give a fuck what you want. If you want gold, I'll give you the gold. Just get the fuck out of here and don't come back to the veil. And so that's what he does. He basically takes, you know, okay, I'll take your promise for the gold and we'll be out. So Damon did his one thing that he's supposed to do is acquire the gold. His other thing that he's supposed to do is find the rider of Sheep Stealer. Um he basically ends up getting on his dragon, and his dragon's acting strange, his dragon's not listening to him, and his dragon is obviously drawn to something else and flies Damon to this cave in the in the mountains. Um, in the cave, Damon gets off, his dragon's still not listening, acting weird and making these weird sounds, like calling to something. And basically, we get this look into the cave, which is really cool, and then you see Sheepstealer light up the back with his his flame, and Reina is standing in the silhouette of the flame. Damon and Reina actually come close together. Damon realizes it's his daughter, and then puts two and two together that his daughter is the one who was riding Sheepstealer. Um they don't have a good relationship, they never had a good relationship since she was a kid. She was kind of the outcast kid. Unfortunately, their mother died um when they were young, and after Damon lost her, he he really didn't care about the kids anymore. It was just kind of he loved the mother, but he he didn't care about the kids after the mother died. It was kind of a reminder of why um, you know, what had happened to him, and it's like a like in in that regard. So I think that's almost like the relationship that they had. Um so yeah, it's it's it's it's it's not the best relationship. She basically says she just wants to stay in the veil, be left alone, and you know, him act like he never found her because Renier is gonna wander ahead regardless if it's Damon's daughter or not. Um she believes she's under the impression that you know sheep stealer was the one who was responsible. Now, Damon lets her go, and in this moment, he sees a sheep herder in the in the mountains. Um and he makes the decision that's probably the stupidest decision he's ever made. Um he ends up deciding to use this this sheep herder and basically char the body and cut the head off and bring the head back to Rhaenyra to tell her that this is the rider of Sheep Stealer and that he took care of it. It's all done. Now this again another plot point that that's gonna be important going forward because now the one person that Rhaenyra has left, the only person Rhaenyra has left that she can trust is her uncle and her husband, and he just lied to her and he just broke her trust. Very important storyline beat. Um very very important storyline beat, not just for Rhaenyra, but for Damon's character going forward and the things that he's going to do going forward because of this mistake. Um it's gonna be interesting to see what they do with Raina. Uh Nettles. Um, you know, I'm gonna keep calling her Nettles because she is the nettle character. Um, and they're doing something very similar. Uh, nettles in the books, after the war, Nettles ends up going to the Vale and living in the caves and basically being worshipped by the mountain folk who um I don't know if you remember the mountain clan that like helped Tyrion at one point in the original Game of Thrones show. Um the you know, the guys that carry the axes and that he talked into fighting for him. They actually worship okay uh Nettles as like a god because Nettles ends up going to live in the in the woods in the Vale in the caves. And so and they know that she's there with sheep, right? In the books, yes. Um but so I'm not sure what they're gonna do here. The the you know, obviously they kind of combine the two characters, so yeah, uh they're they're they're kind of using that early on as instead of like she's been hiding in the veil rather than she goes there after the war. So I'm very interested to see how she's gonna come into play. Apparently, from what I heard, two of the other wild dragons are supposed to come into play too in the show, which is is different than the books because the other two wild dragons were only named and talked about, they were never actually shown, so um, or like took place in the conflict. So the fact that they're gonna go out of their way to like involve the other two dragons in the sheep stealer storyline is is very interesting to me. I thought that was a cool way of going about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, yeah, so Damien his bit was the highlight for me because like you hit it on the nail about him being able to the one that she trusts the most, and now when she finds out about him, and also the stuff with Court Cornelius uh telling his son that he has to be the high that he wants her to be um yeah, he wants her to be the um I mean he wants his son to be the hand for uh for Queen Guinera. Well, basically he doesn't want to be there. That's crazy. Yeah, yeah, he doesn't want to be. He's done with her.

SPEAKER_00

And so because she wouldn't name the two sons Valerian, um, because like we spoke about last week, she doesn't want anybody to contest for her throne. That yeah, um Coralus basically said he had enough and he's gonna go fight and basically name the son. I feel bad for this son because he almost gets thrown under the bus. He he's the the only good one out of all of them. Um all these new people that have come to Reneer's side, he's the only one that's actually got a good heart and actually has good intentions and pure intentions. Um everybody else is vying for power and money and and different things. And you know, this kid kind of unfortunately uh now is is thrust in the position of being part of the council and and you know basically taking his dad's spot. So yeah, that's that's gonna be an interesting story beat as well. And and what plays out with with the you know, Corelus and and everything else there with the with the drift.

SPEAKER_01

For Corius, like I was I was feeling for him the last time when he kind of like told Monero off, but like now when I'm seeing like the way he's acting and stuff, I'm just like dude, she never said she wouldn't do it for you, she just said not right now, and he's just being a little impatient, and I that now I'm like you you're doing too much, my friend.

SPEAKER_00

But you don't understand that he's got no seat, he's got no heirs.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, no, I get that too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but no, you don't because he's going to no because drift mark is his homestead. If something happens to him, none of those kids can take the seat at Driftmark. So that basically means that whole kingdom is totally gone and obsolete, which, like we discussed already in Westeros, in Game of Thrones, there's no drift mark, it doesn't exist anymore. The Kingdom of L. So can you put two and two together of like where we're going with this and and why why it's so important to him that why he wants those kids named Coralus? Yeah, he's trying to get that that thrown. So, what do you think happens since there's no no drift mark seat later on in in Westeros? Somebody then so that's why it's important to him, that's why it means a lot, because without naming those kids heir, neither one of them can ever take the seat. Driftmark has no heir, and then drift mark just ceases to exist. And that's what happens in in Game of Thrones. Driftmark does not exist, it's no longer a seat of power. The Valerian name is long gone. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's it's interesting stuff. I can't wait for the next episode.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they they really did a great job with this. Um, the the main thing, too, that they set up at the very end of this episode was the big thing. Um Alison, uh, you know, Renier comes to speak to Alison. Alison talks to her, and basically Helena is getting changed in the back. Um, if you kind of notice, Helena looks looks a little thicker than she used to look. Um she's putting on her nightgown, and Alison goes to buckle the nightgown, and Helena pulls back. And Alison doesn't realize at first why Helena pulled back. She goes to buckle it again, and Helena grabs the nightgown and kind of stands back and just looks at her mother, and her mother looks down and looks at her and realizes that Helena's actually carrying a child, um, Megar Targaryen, who we have seen in another show. Um so yeah, uh, this is setting up a very interesting thing. Um, I'm really liking how much they're connecting Duncan Egg and Game of Thrones into this show. They don't have to, but the fact that they are makes it so much better. The fact that they're recounting different things that Joffrey said throughout his reign, because Joffrey referenced the Dance of the Dragons a lot um during his reign in Game of the original Game of Thrones series. So if you go back and watch the original Game of Thrones series and watch like the seasons where Joffrey is king, there's there's a lot of spoilers for this show that things Joffrey says. Um he brings it up multiple times. He talks about Rhenira, he talks about uh you know the dance of the dragons and and how it all plays out. So it's there if you want to go look for it, but um yeah, I really like how connected they're kind of keeping the show and just kind of pulling everything together. It's been it's been a lot of fun for sure. So um, in some more X-Men stuff, uh, we do have some casting stuff that they has been going around. There's currently every Hollywood actor from 20 years old to 30 years old being cited as being part of the X-Men movie. Um, everybody was reporting yesterday that Adam Driver, yes, emo fucking Kylo Ren from the sequel trilogy, is supposedly being eyed to play Magneto. Now, if that is true and and that is the case, I'm out on X-Men right now. Right before before we even get a trailer, before we even get more casting news, if they have cast Adam Driver to play Magneto for this movie, I'm out. I want no parts of it. I don't even want to watch it, I don't even want to see it, I don't give a fuck about it. I will not talk about it on this show. Um because yeah, if that is the first step of this whole entire X-Men thing, that I would say, wow, they have no idea what they're doing. And that's that, and I don't even need to worry about it. Um under no circumstances should Adam Driver be playing Magneto. Uh he doesn't look like Magneto, he's not old enough to play Magneto, nor do I want to see him act like he's in pain throughout the whole entire X-Men series. Um, that's how he looks when he's on camera. He always looks like like who hurt you, kid. Like you're you're literally like about to cry. Nah. Uh I could see him as Mr. Sinister, and that might be the case. Um, but under no circumstances is is should he be Magneto. The other the other casting rumor is Patrick Wilson as Professor X. And that's another one that, like, all right, I love Patrick Wilson. I think he's a great actor, but under no circumstances should he be Charles Xavier for this X-Men movie. So I don't know what they're doing. None of this was reported by anybody reputable. My Time to Shine Hello is a is a is a scooper that's never right about anything. The other collaborating sources that were reporting this, again, source just Twitter accounts that have a couple thousand followers and like just spew a bunch of bullshit all the time. So like none of this seems legit to me. That's why I didn't even want to talk about it because really essentially none of this is concrete news. It's not coming from Jeff Snyder, it's not coming from any of the reputable reporters. So as far as I'm concerned, like it's all bullshit. Um, it was just some Twitter headlines to go around and try to get people talking yesterday. But yeah, if if this if this has any truth to it, I'm out on X-Men. Don't care.

SPEAKER_01

My only thing is probably the reason why they're trying to do this is to get like a more younger audience, but like like we've seen what he did with Star Wars, and and like you said, it he pretty much plays the same character in everything he does when he's like the guy who plays, supposed to be playing Magneto. So like I can already see will like the look for it. Uh earlier before we got on, I saw like a concept bar of how he would look, and I was just like, eh, I don't really I don't think I like I like him as he's too young. Um yeah, it's just too young, right? Correct. That's that's the thing right there.

SPEAKER_00

It's too young. Ideally, ideally, at this point, the the thing that makes the most sense because you can't do Holocaust and World War II at this point for these characters, it's it's too far away. Magneto would be like a hundred and something years old at this point. Um, you could try to use that like his his mutant powers slowed down. Is aging. That's kind of been like the thing in the comics for a while. But the ideal situation would be to use civil rights as a stepping stone for Magneto and Charles's relationship at this point. So ideally, in theory, you'd want either two African American actors or one of either Magneto or Charles to be African American and have the whole entire their whole entire story, the way they bonded, everything. You kind of repurpose the World War II Holocaust story for the civil rights. It fits the time period. They would be old enough to for all of this to happen in current day, and we can move forward. So that's another thing for me. Like if Adam Driver is playing your Magneto, you have a guy who's like in his 40s playing a Holocaust survivor, and that's where we're going with this. Or what? Like, yeah, no. I don't want any parts of this if that's the case. Where where was Patrick Wilson in? Because I'm trying to remember who he is. So he's been in Aquaman, he played Orm, he's been in Watchmen, he played Night Owl, he's been in uh the Conjuring movies, he played uh the main guy in all the conjuring movies. So he's been he's been around for a while. He's a great actor. I would I actually he's in his late 50s at this point. Like I wouldn't mind him as Professor Xavier, but he's not bald. So like we gotta have we gotta shave his head and we gotta do all that. I'd prefer you just cast an actor like to get all Larry David on this. Like, I prefer you just cast a bald actor. Like you're taking a job away from somebody who's already naturally looks good in the role. So like look for a bald actor that you feel like can play this. I really do feel like Brian Cranson is the best choice to play Professor Xavier. Um, you know, guy from Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the Middle. Um, he's your best choice to play Professor Xavier at this point. He he is bald most of the time, like he shaves his head down on purpose. So like it's a very easy thing to just have him step into the role as Charles, and then you hire somebody else, preferably an African-American descent, to play Magneto. This way, the civil rights story plays a role, and you can go forward. It makes sense, timeline. Right. Um, as far as like all the other castings, though, I don't even want to report on any of the names because, like I said, pretty much every actor you can think of from the from their 20s to their 30s is being thrown around as different characters, and nothing's concrete. Comic-con is coming up. We will get an official announcement at Comic-Con, is my assumption as to who the cast is gonna be or some of the cast is gonna be, and then we can go from there once we have official reports. I hate discussing rumors because as far as I'm concerned, those scoopers are full of shit all the time. So, like to me, it it it I don't take any of this with a grain of salt. All these websites started running with the story last night, and yeah, it's it's not something that's legit, it's not something that's concrete. So until we get like concrete evidence or an official announcement from a reputable source, I I wouldn't give it any kind of weight for any of these things. Yeah. Um, yeah, you said it on the other thing that's being reported is that there's gonna be a Nova movie in the works. Uh Michael Waldrand is gonna be writing the script, and again, this is gonna be something else that's supposed to be uh announced and talked about at Comic-Con. So the Marvel panel is the only thing going on at Comic-Con. There is no DC panel at Comic-Con. They are skipping completely. So we'll get the Doomsday trailer, we're gonna get probably the X-Men casting news, we're gonna get the Nova stuff, we're probably gonna get some sort of update on Midnight Suns and what's going on with that movie or or Blade movie or whatever the fuck they're gonna end up doing with that shit at this point. And um, yeah, I I don't know how it's gonna go for them. We'll see. But if this X-Men news is correct, like I said, that they're off to a bad start for me. Like, I could give a fuck about anything else they have coming out if that's their X-Men cast. Like, if that really is what they went with for this movie, I don't I don't care who's writing the script, I don't care who's directing, you could fucking do whatever you want, but I do not want to see that movie under any circumstances. And it will turn me off to the rest of the Marvel shit. Totally. Like, I'll just be like, I'm out, I'll watch X-Men 97 and be happy.

SPEAKER_01

No, that wouldn't be a bad way to be.

SPEAKER_00

Because even with Doomsday, I don't I don't care about anything they're teasing for Doomsday. All this little promo shit that they keep doing, all this stuff that they keep trying to set up for Doomsday, it's making me less and less interested in the movie. Seeing this leaked promo art, seeing Robert Downey Jr. in his armor, seeing Robert Downey Jr. everywhere talking about, oh, well, I played the I played the greatest hero, now I'm gonna play the greatest villain. Bro, you're gonna play the same exact role because they paid you a boatload of fucking money. Like, let's be real about the situation. You're you're you're not gonna do anything groundbreaking with this role. You're playing Victor Von Doom or some like weird version of him, and that's that. Like, they brought you back because they had to. Otherwise, like they could have gotten somebody way better to go actually play Doom if they wanted like a a standout actor to do it. They did it because of the Tony Comp connection and for the shock and awe of it for the multiverse. But yeah, I'm uh I don't really care. I I just keep I keep losing more and more interest in in everything Marvel's got going on outside of X-Men 97. And uh yeah, it's just it I think I'm like my my my love for it, my care for it, especially because they're they're trying so hard to bait people with the oh, we're gonna release Endgame and we're gonna put some new scenes in it so you can watch it and you'll it'll really connect into Doomsday. It's just a way to try to get their overall box office number up so they become the the number one movie of all time. That that's all it is, that's a ploy. Um, same thing with Doomsday. Doomsday, they went out, they assembled this whole cast, and basically brought back everybody that should no longer even be part of these movies, but they're doing it because they realize hey, the only people people want to see in these movies is Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, so we have to have them back. Um, they really fucked up by not bringing Scarlett Johansson back, but we'll talk about Scarlett Johansson in a minute. Um, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the the the thing with the with the uh concept art, I just thought it was cool that they had released it and it was one of the last things that Annie Park did before they kicked all the artists out of the MC um you department. So to know that he did that was was a cool thing for me. Um and I mean as far as like the endgame stuff, like uh and the adding of the scenes, like I'm I'm I'm gonna see it because I want to see the endings, the the new parts, because it's just as a comic person, I love to see these pages put on the big screen. So like and any adaptation of it, I'm gonna j I want to see it because I'm just a fan, so I'm I'm gonna check it out. And then the um and then for doomsday, yeah, like we said it before, like the little teasers here and there was well has been very frustrating. But the con the seeing the concept art that was official then uh Andy had posted on his page made me feel a little bit okay and like kind of like excited, but not like any different than I've already been for this movie.

SPEAKER_00

It's the same concept art that was on the tote bag almost a year ago. There's nothing different about it. Same exact concept art that was shown on the tote bag that was given out to all the the people that worked on the movie. So like it's nothing new. Um it's just yeah, I guess if you haven't seen it, then yeah, it's new. But it it's nothing that excited me at all. Like I really could care less about concept art or or what their characters are gonna look like at this point. You gotta come out and deliver a good movie. I don't give a fuck about all the other promo shit you guys are trying to run. I don't give a shit about how you think this is gonna be a billion-dollar movie, and you're just touting your way all to the theater. You got Dune 3 to go up against, and I guarantee you Dune 3 is a solid fucking movie from top to bottom. So I I I just I do not see this being as successful as they think it is. I do not think it's gonna save the MCU and be like, oh, we're back. Because I I'll be honest with you, me and a buddy of mine who listens to this podcast, shout out to Jono. Um we both did kind of read what Doomsday is supposed to be. So if it is a proper leak that we both read, I can already tell you the movie's gonna be really fucking bad. So that's why like my excitement for this movie is at a zero right now. I do not care. Um, we'll get there when we get there at the end of the year. But I already said from the jump, the movie I'm going to see when that day is Dune 3. I'm I am there for Dune 3 on day one. I'll get around to Doomsday whenever I get to it. If I get to it, I might just I might just wait.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, recently that Dune 3 trailer that dropped didn't make me a lot more interested. I thought that was really dope what they what they added to it.

SPEAKER_00

So um going into DC stuff, uh speaking like I said about Scarlet Johansson, the the current rumor swirling around of this Matt Reeves movie that's currently shooting right now for Batman is that we're not getting Penguin Season 2 like we reported. That's not happening anymore. Um, but the potential plan is a poison ivy spinoff that's going to be coming out of this this universe. The the rumors swirling around that is that perhaps Scarlett Johansson is in fact Pamela Isley in this whole scenario, and and all of the misreporting that was going on, kind of of who was who at the very beginning is is actually just kind of secrecy to keep the fact that Scarlett Johansson is actually playing Poison I in this universe. Now, I don't know how they're going to incorporate her into this because to me she's not a character that fits the Matt Raves universe of having a character that is um you know magical or has like some of the things that are. Yeah, like the the thing I could very easily see them doing is making her an eco-terrorist, and then that would fit for like that world. So like she's not necessarily powers, but she's using the plants in different ways, and because she's she's got her biology and you know uh uh plant you know knowledge. I I think that's the way they can lean with it if they wanted to make it work. But um, yeah, as far as her like manipulating the plants and using the plants like to eat people and like do things for her, I don't think that's gonna be in play. I my guess would be like the the hormones from the plants will probably still be a thing. The the mind control like from the toxin of a plant that she puts on her lipstick could be a thing. Um her just being like you know, a chemist and and compounding stuff from different plants, I think that's the way they go. And like her being an ecoterrorist that's trying to save the the planet, um, that would fit and be very timely for like what's going on in the world. So I I could very easily see them just kind of tweaking it that way to make it more realistic and grounded. But um, yeah, I I I don't know. I like I said, the Matt Reeves universe for me, I I I could take it or leave it at this point. Um, to see that they're gonna invest all this time in doing a poison ivy spin-off kind of gives me less and less hope that I'm gonna get an actual Batman movie that I want to see. It kind of seems like Matt Reeves is gonna get to play in this Batman sandbox for a little while, and we're probably gonna get a third Batman movie from him at some point. So that doesn't look good for James Gunn, and that doesn't look good for you know what they want to do if they want to have Batman in their universe because I feel like it's a it's a topic of contention. And yeah, we're gonna talk about James Gunn and and some of the things that have come out now from Supergirl, and um you know currently he's filming Man of Tomorrow. David David Ellison did apparently go visit the set, talked about him. Basically, the the tidbits from the article, though, is that some stuff is too far along for Paramount to even have a hand in or stop. So the current things James Gunn has his hands in are the Green Lantern show, which debuts next month or this month, um, Man of Tomorrow 2, and um I think uh Clayface is the other thing. Um they do they are trying to scramble and get into early production on some other things like Wonder Woman and um you know whatever else they're gonna do, Mr. Terrific Show, etc. Basically, the the the Paramount deal will put a stop to this if if they don't like what they're seeing and and if they decide they want to change the directions. Um the the new report that came out from this is that Zolo will be coming back from uh um Cobra Kai. He's gonna be playing Blue Beetle again for Man of Tomorrow, uh that he's gonna be reprising his role. So Right, yeah, just seen that. They are bringing him back, um, which was kind of stated at the end. He got the Unfair Shake, he was the last movie to come out. It actually was a pretty good DC movie, but it was one of the last ones to come out, and everybody believed that it wasn't connected. So he was the one character that James Gunn had said repeatedly, like, no, I'm gonna bring him back. He's the character, he's somebody that I want to have involved in my stuff. So we will see that. That's another character for Justice League, you know, already in Man of Tomorrow. I just I don't know where they're going out of this. I don't know what the plan is. Man of Tomorrow could very well be the last DC movie we get for a little while. Um, I think it all plays into the fact of why they're avoiding Comic-Con, why they don't want to be there and and because they don't want to make announcements and they don't want to make promises for things that they can't guarantee are actually gonna come out. And I I think that's a big problem for this studio right now. I think it's been a problem for the studio. I think when they did it the last time and they made the announcements of like, hey, James Gunn's taking over, but we have four more movies that are hitting theaters before that happens, and every one of those movies flopped. Uh, I don't think they want to see that happen now with the Paramount transition.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, for the thing where you said about Zolo, um, I always felt like his universe that ver that universe of Blue Beetle was in this DCU um universe. It just like yeah, it had the color and all that stuff. So, but yeah, and like it was it was the last of these of the last universe. So I was excited when I when I seen this news actually, because I I love him in that and I loved him in uh karate um cobra Kai, and uh yeah, so I'm just glad that that's a thing. But another thing is like I feel like this movie already is having a thing kind of like Doomsday, where there's a lot of people and pieces that are all over the place, and I'm just don't know, like I thought this would just be like another Luke, uh mini na Luke Lex and Clark story, but now we got him, supergirl, like it's a lot.

SPEAKER_00

It's it's Justice League Light in this movie, essentially. That's what they're doing, that's what they're setting up. So, like, that's where we're going. Um, and he's just trying to assemble all the pieces that he can. So, yeah, I don't know. Um, I kind of have a feeling. Um, shout out to heavy spoilers. Um, he just did a video talking about it, basically breaking down and giving his thoughts about all this too, which is really great if you want to check that out on YouTube. Um, but yeah, I I'm just I'm very skeptical too. I kind of have the same stance as him where I worry more and more that like the DC universe is is gonna die quicker than it's gonna be able to live. Um and and tying into the DC News and the Paramount merger, um, it's now exceeded to 12 states that are gonna file to block the Paramount merger from actually happening. Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Washington are all jumping in on the lawsuit to try to stop the Paramount merger from ever taking place due to the consolidation of media. We spoke about this a lot. The consolidation of media, having outside entities from other countries, having 60% influence over our the nation's media and news is a very slippery slope. And yeah, um, there's some other things going on in the real world that we're not gonna talk about on this podcast that are that are also kind of hand in hand with this about other operations in the U.S. that they're trying to join with other countries that should not be taking place. So hopefully this Paramount merger gets blocked. Hopefully, this thing is ceased to happen because it's the one thing that's gonna do a lot of good for a lot of people. It's gonna keep a lot of people employed, it's gonna keep two of the most powerful studios in Hollywood still being their own entities and not being condensed into this big conglomeration. Um, there's so many snowball things that take place if this merger goes through, including David Ellison and his father having, you know, control over a majority of Hollywood. It's it's a very, very dangerous thing. And and I just I do not want to see it happen. So shout out to all these 12 states for hopping on and and trying to stop this from going through. Hopefully it's successful because we've seen that the other parts of the government are kind of intent on just pushing this through because they have agendas and and things that they want to see in this merger happen.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, shout out to New Jersey and New York for being a part of that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Mondani.

SPEAKER_01

I love it to see.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to Mondani. Um they're trying, and um hopefully it's successful at some point. Um, some other news for me that that was kind of kind of made me laugh. Uh, Free Willy is getting a remake from Disney. Um classic movie when I was a kid. I love the first one. I I know I know you're a real OG. If you had the cassette tape of Free Willy that came with the necklace and you actually wore the necklace around as a kid, um, that's how you know you're a real OG. Um, so shout out to all of y'all that are listening to this podcast that know exactly what the fuck.

SPEAKER_01

I had the cassette, but I didn't or the VHS. I didn't have the the necklace and all that.

SPEAKER_00

So the the kid in the movie, the kid in the movie gets that orca necklace that like he wears throughout the whole entire movie. When I was a kid, the cassette tape came with the the orca necklace, and like the real ones actually wore the orca necklace around like as a kid and you thought you were super cool because you had the fucking free willy orca necklace. So, like I said, shout out to all y'all that actually got that reference and understand and are old enough to understand like what that reference is. But yeah, um, I'm interested to see how they're gonna angle this, if they're just gonna like try to do a straight-up remake of it, or if they're gonna try to like modernize the story to fit in with with current times a little bit more, maybe with the ocean crisis, maybe with orc uh orca whale hunting, uh, which is a very big thing. So, yeah, I'm interested to see like how that all ties in and how they kind of like change up the approach to make it a relevant movie for today. Because I I couldn't tell you the last time I watched Free Willy. Um it's been definitely a long, long time. So I'm not sure how the movie actually holds up anymore, but I would be interested to see like how a remake would do in this current current day, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's probably gonna be I can see it being day one on like Disney Plus or something like that, but if it actually goes to theaters, I'm I would be interested to see how it holds up too nowadays, because that was a time when they used to make movies off of like real life animals and make stories out of them, and like that was a whole Disney like genre.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, because the story of Free Willy is actually based on a true story, like that's the whole thing. That's that's what they were doing like when I was a kid. They were making movies based on real stories that happened in the real world, and they adapted them and made kids' movies out of them. That's that's what made Disney special, and that's something that they lost a long time ago. So um, so far it just it just kind of goes to show that this this new CEO kind of has his finger on the pulse and knows like what Disney should be and where they want to be. So I like this move. I like them going back to the well. There's also talks about Treasure Island being redone and and a new take on that. With um I believe Hugh Jackman was the one who was attached to it playing Blackbeard. Um, so yeah, like they're they're trying to go back to some of their old OG properties and just like remake them for new audiences, which is really cool. So I'm here for that. And uh I love Treasure Island, that's another classic. So, like, yeah, I'm I'm here for those, you know, Disney trying to recapture like the actual magic of their studio. Right, right. Um, another thing with the Paramount thing is that Danny McBride is gonna be writing, well, he actually completed the G.I. Joe script. We had talked about it a couple months ago, how there was two G.I. Joe scripts that were floating around, and it turns out that Danny McBride's is actually finished and completed and has been turned in. Um, it seems that there are some big names that want to attach themselves to this script, and it seems like this script more than likely is gonna be the one that they move forward with for doing an actual G.I. Joe movie with. Um, I don't know the context. This was written by Danny McBride and the people who wrote Righteous Gemstones. So it could either be like a real comedy or it could be um it could be, you know, kind of kind of pulled from both. I did watch an interview with him where he actually broke it down and he said how much of a fan of the original show that he was and the comic books. Um he mentioned Larry Hama by name multiple times. He talked about their movie being set in Springfield. So for those that don't know, for like G.I. Joe, Springfield, Illinois is basically a whole town that operates like a normal town, but really it's a whole town that's that's orchestr uh orchestrated and owned by Cobra. And Cobra basically everybody in the town is a member of Cobra, though the whole town like operates like that. Um so though from what Danny McBride said, is their whole script and premise for this movie takes place in Springfield itself. So sounds cool as a G.I. Joe fan, like I'm here for that. Um, but I'd be very interested to see how much of a comedy this is versus um like something serious.

SPEAKER_01

I see it being very much Vicus Gems gemstone-ish-esque because you know that that show does have some like it doesn't have like it's not action for it, but it do have you know it is bits and whatnot. And knowing him, there's gotta be some comedy in this. So yeah, it's interesting. I I wanna I would I'm I'm here for it. Um I'm still waiting for the Transform Transformers and freaking G.I. Joe um animated series that they're supposed to be making. Um Robin Kirkman's yeah, that's different. But yeah, just to get more G.I. Joe's content in general will be would be awesome to see.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the the Kirkman stuff is being done through Sky. Bound in Hasbro, it has nothing to do with the Paramount deal. This G.I. Joe movie is from Paramount, um, and along with the Transformers like live action stuff that's on Paramount. So two very different things. Um, the Kirkman show will be based upon the comic books for the Anerjon universe. This is is based off like the original IP for G.I. Joe. So, yeah, it is like two separate things. Um, but yeah, I I'm very much looking forward to the Kirkman take of things because I'm enjoying those books. Uh, another live action remake that is currently coming out is Moana. Um, we have early reviews for it, and it does not look good. Um the reviews for it are really bad. Um, a lot of people criticize The Rock again for a lot of things, and it just doesn't seem like anything that he's doing is landing really anymore. Um, there are rumors and reports. Jeff Snyder keeps hinting that he's got something big coming up with The Rock, um, some this big story. So I'm interested to see what that's gonna be and where he's gonna land. But um supposedly it's it's it's it's something big with that entails the rock coming forward. So But yeah, it doesn't sound like it sounds like Moana's gonna be the worst one out of out of all these Stazerry remakes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because what like Moana with this Moana movie, like I remember it coming saying that it was coming out, but like I like every time I'm on Instagram, I'm always getting the ad for it. But had I not been getting this ad for it, I would not I would have completely forgot about this movie. This I think this movie had worse promo than like Supergirl, to be honest, and fucking Mandalorian.

SPEAKER_00

So originally this was never supposed to be a movie, this was supposed to be a TV show for Disney Plus. Basically, they did the same thing that they did with Mandalorian, they edit all the episodes together and made the movie. Um, so yeah, it's broken up like an episodic TV show that's just edited all together to be a movie, and that's kind of what this is. It's the same thing as Mandalorian, which we do have a release date now for Mandalorian. The the DVD for Mandalorian actually comes out on my birthday, August 25th. So um, if you're looking to pick up Mandalorian and check it out, it will be out like on my birthday. So that I thought that was funny. Um also some other like minor news. We got Heat 2. Uh, we talked about casting last week, how it's gonna be Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio. The other name that's been attached to it now as playing uh Robert De Niro's character is Stephen Graham. For those of you guys that don't know Stephen Graham, he played um he was in Boardwalk Empire, he was in the Venom movies, he's pretty much in everything Tom Hardy is in. He's Tom Hardy's like best friend. So fantastic actor. Um, if he's a part of this cast, it's just another solid edition. So I'm really looking forward to Heat 2. I think it's gonna be fun. I have not read the book, so I don't know the premise of the second one, but um, I know that's what it's based off. It's based off the new novel that that came out.

SPEAKER_01

Dope. Yeah, I haven't I'm I haven't watched Heat 2, so I'm not sure what the storyline, but I'm familiar with the movie, so this would be dope for me to get to check out.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, what do you got for comics of the week this week?

SPEAKER_01

This week I got none other than Daredevil number four by Stephanie Phillips. Shout out Stephanie Phillips. Can't wait to get in. Yes, we um then I kind of like it. It was a light week. Um, I was like, let me just try something new. So with that, I ended up getting this Fantastic Four uh First of Oes, the Shavala. Um, it's like the silver, the girl Silver Surfer like origin story from the movie. So there's that. And then I've been going to the comic shop all like this the last couple weeks, and I keep seeing this, and I'm like, I'm gonna get it. And I just it was a little like weeks, I was like, fuck it, let's just get it. And it's bishop number one. Um, the way the way they did him dirty in this last X-Men 97 uh episode, I was like, I need to give my boy some love. So I went ahead and picked this up. So um, yeah, those are my comments of the week. So I can't wait to get into them.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know how that book is. I I wouldn't read a bishop solo if you paid me. So good luck with that. Let me know how that is. Um, first and foremost, I got absolute Batman. Um, Batman continues fighting the Robins, and we get the origin of Absolute Harley Quinn. Um, she's been Batman's ally pretty much since the beginning of this book. So they actually gave her backstory, her origin story, and kind of flushed out the character a little bit more. Um, as we know, absolute Batman is moving forward with an animated series that will be coming out. I did just sell one of my copies of Absolute Batman one for an insane amount of money, um, which I couldn't tell you the last time I sold a modern comic book for that much. Um, so shout out to Absolute Batman for continuing to do his thing. Um, I have multiples of a lot of these copies, so as these issues keep coming out, I'm gonna keep putting them up on eBay and just try to cash in. I'm not gonna lie about that. I will try to catch in on the opportunity. I am not shy about that. My other my other one is absolute catwoman. Um, absolute catwoman has has been phenomenal. I love the fact that she's Cuban. I love the fact that we're getting like a Baricua story in this. Um, it's just so cool. Um, continues to be fucking awesome. The inclusion of um of the the current day background, uh Cassandra Kane, um, in this is really cool. I I love again the absolute universe has just been so much fun, and I love the the change to a lot of these characters and the things that they're playing around with. Um so I'm I'm here for it. I'm I'm just I'm loving those books a lot. I'm not reading Absolute Green Arrow, I have no idea what's going on in it. Um, but that's another one I keep hearing like a lot of people are really enjoying. So again, they they hit the mark with this absolute stuff, and we gotta wait and see how this midnight stuff does for Marvel. Uh, my last one for this week, uh, shout out to Connor Goldsmith and Josh Corleone, issue number two of Did You Hear About Mimi Green? Um, I'm loving this book so far. Uh I I just really like what they're doing, and and I like the nuances and the storytelling. Connor's really doing a fantastic job, and and Josh, his artwork on this is just really cool. Um, it's it's I'm not usually like I would classify this as a horror comic, even though I guess it's really not a horror comic, but it kind of is. So um it's not normally like a genre that I would read for for comics, but I'm really just loving the story that they're telling. And and I'm trying to support two two people who like, you know, I'm friends of the show. So definitely go pick this up if you can. I know, I know at my comic shop, I am the only one who asked about this book because I was the only one who like knew it was coming out. And I keep like anybody who sees me in the comic shop, I talk to about this book now going forward, and I've gotten like three other people in the comic shop to pick this up and add this to their poll now going forward. So I'm trying to spread the word of mouth. I want to see this go for as long as they possibly can. Plus, I want to see both these guys continue their success and get some new new projects going forward, hopefully with one of the big two. Um, Connor's got a lot of great ideas for some Marvel characters. I would love to see him get the opportunity. So, yeah, go pick up. Did you hear about Mimi Green uh from Dark Horse Comics? It it's a great, great book. But yeah, those are my comics for the week.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, definitely. I uh shout out to um what's her name? Uh the the artist on or not the artist, the writer for that absolute bad man. Her last name is Gray, but I'm can't remember her first name.

SPEAKER_00

Uh let's see. On the this new issue? Yeah, yeah. Well, there's a whole story, I think. Is Del Dorella is the name. It's it's not Dragotta. That's what I'm imagining in my head.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, well, anyway, shout out to that whole team, anyways.

SPEAKER_00

Do you have anything you're watching this week?

SPEAKER_01

Um, so it was a little bit of uh of a plate of of a lot of things. Um so I was watching there are some anime I was watching. One of which you might know, uh, you ever heard of the Ghost in the Shell series? Um Skylar Johansson was a part of the the movie at one point. Um, anyways, they they came out with a new version of it on par on Prime. I wasn't really rocking with it, it's a little bit more like how the manga is, so it has that wittiness and cartoon, like uh comedy as to it, which is not as serious as the original, so that was okay. Um, but then also uh I got I got to see um The Furious. Um, it was like a film that came out during this year, it's like a like a Kung Fu flick almost to an extent, but like there's literally non-stop fighting in this movie, like like this movie has some crazy scenes, and um, yeah, so I definitely recommend you all to go check that out. Um, and I think that was pretty much everything, other than the our normal, you know, X-Men 97 and Hostile Dragons and stuff like that. Um yeah, yeah, that's pretty much it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I didn't have anything this week. I had a busy week, I had a lot of stuff going on, so um, yeah, I didn't get a chance to watch anything else. But uh yeah, I got I got some stuff to catch up on. Um, the one thing that I did check out, there is a two-episode series about Troy, the real history of Troy. Um so for those of you guys that don't know like the actual history of it, didn't know it was a real place at one point, they kind of talk about the real things and then talk about the myths and kind of go back and forth between those. That was pretty much the only thing I checked out this week. Um, outside of yeah, just like watching my my normal like comfort shows and um and you know check catching up on the stuff that we had to catch up on. One thing I will say is though, um Modern Family is always like in rotation. It's one of the shows that's like always got kind of one of my comfort shows that I go to, like when I just want to throw something on in the background. And I really gotta say that it might be the last American sitcom that like actually was good. Um I they don't make sitcoms like that anymore. It just doesn't happen. So the fact that it went on for 12 seasons and only ended like a couple years ago, I feel like it's prime to like still come back at some point and that they could continue the the show. And I have a feeling they probably will at some point. Um, so I wouldn't count Modern Family out about not making a comeback at some point because Disney will cash in on that.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Um, that um Troy uh show you was watching is what's that on? Because I would like to watch that they get caught up for the Odyssey. It's on Disney Plus, all right.

SPEAKER_00

No, this this is the the real life, you know, tales of Troy and the fallen civil civilization. Um talks about Socrates and the writings and stuff like that and kind of compares like the fact to the myth from the archaeological studies that they've done recently. So it's very interesting. Uh, if you like history, if you like like real stuff and and learning about that type of stuff, I highly recommend it. It's it's fun. It was a fun catch-up. I'm very familiar with Greek mythology and Greek history. It's kind of like one of my passions and one of the things that I actually really enjoy learning about. Um it's my favorite time period throughout history. So um, for me, it was a lot of just like, oh, cool, finding out the newer things that the archaeologists uh are archaeologists have like uncovered and dis and discovered, you know, study in the area. So it's it's been cool.

SPEAKER_01

Facts. Yeah, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna check that out. I I I I'm a I'm an Animal Planet buff. Like, I'll watch Animal Planet documentaries all day, but that too is awesome. So I will check that out.

SPEAKER_00
