This week on Friday is my Monday, we’re taking a step back and sharing a story that hits a little closer to home.

Ever wonder how Audra became… well, Audra? This episode gives you a glimpse into the foundation behind it all. We’re walking down memory lane with a heartfelt (and a little unexpected) story about Audra’s mom—who we’re remembering this week on the 14th anniversary of her passing.

There’s a little humor, a little Texas spirit (yes… that hint matters), and a lot of meaning behind the story.

We also dive into what’s happening right now—this weekend’s open houses and a special Ring-Around-The-Rosie open house event coming up, where we’re bringing in local vendors from Painted Tree for pop-up experiences.

If you’re a vendor and want to be part of it, reach out—we’d love to collaborate.

Well, happy Friday, everybody. You know it. Today is Friday, it is my Monday, and we are gearing up for some serious open houses this weekend. We are having six open houses this weekend, and next week we are doing what's called a ring around the rosie. And we are doing multiple open houses. We are having hopefully some pop-up shops. We're gonna talk to some vendors about that. So if some vendors were affected by the painted tree, or some vendors just want to come and be a part of our open houses for our ring around the rosie next week, give us a call because we want to help you with your business. Um, okay, now I want to start with kind of an interesting story. So y'all know we live in Texas, right? Yes. Now you know that we carry guns in Texas. Yes. You know that Audrey carries a gun? Yes. And I went to a listing last week where, you know, I always have my gun with me, but I actually carried it on my person because it was an interesting appointment that I needed to make sure that I was very safe. Of course, I'm always being trapped all the time, so that's kind of a normal thing for me. But I thought I would share a little story about um how I became Audra. I shared the story years ago, but I haven't shared it in a long time, so I thought y'all would enjoy it. It's also on the week of um my mom's death 12 years ago. So it's been kind of a somber week for us, and um, she battled with um she had open heart surgery in November of 2013, and then ended up um trying to make it all the way through until April 13th of 2014. So it's been 12 years and we miss her dearly. I used to talk to her every single day. Um, you know, might have been an argument, it might have been a fire, whatever it was, but I spoke to my mom every single day. And um, man, do I miss those conversations? So, and sometimes it was mom, I can't talk right now, I'll call you later. Um, but I always picked up the phone. Always. So um that's a note to my children, by the way. Just FYI. Yeah. And I just need proof of life text, please. Just proof of life text. Um, anyway, okay, so this story is about my mom. Um, so my mom was married three times, and her second husband was um quite a guy. She was his fifth wife, okay? And she should have known by then that he was going to be a player. And she came home one day, and by the way, my mom carried a gun. I think she carried a 22. I carry a Glock, but um, you know, times have changed. So she gets home, and this man, his name was Carl, was in bed with another woman in her bed, mind you, okay? And my mama didn't play, okay? She was um a hot-blooded Mexican and she did not play. So she just pulled the gun out of her purse and made the girl get out of bed naked, made her leave her house naked, made her walk down the street without her clothes, and made her leave the house. Oh, yes, she did. Does that sound like something Audre would do? Probably. Um, and we told this to Mike, by the way, before we got married, so he actually knew about it and still married me. And then she comes back in the house and shoots her husband. Now, don't worry. It was like in the arm, so he lived, there was no charges, all the things. And it was a small town, and everybody knew Mr. Carl liked to do things, and they also knew Eva and how she don't play. So, um, basically, the police show up because there was a gunshot, right? And my mom's sitting there in the chair, you know, twiddling her thumbs, going, Well, what's gonna happen? Because I really don't care because I got what I needed, right? Lady's walking down the street with no clothes on, and he's been shot in the arm, so he's now he's gotta go to the hospital. And so he's there holding the gun, and the police are like, Well, uh, Carl, what happened? And he was like, Oh, it went off while I was cleaning my gun. They were like, Really? In the arm? And he said, Yes, sir. And um, so everybody went home and said, Alright, accident, go to the hospital, get bandaged up. And um, that was the start of their you know demise, and that's when she married my papa, who she loved, and my dad ended up dying when I was nine months old, so she was done with men at that point, and all good, but she got me, and that's why I'm here, and I'm so happy that that happened, right? Like, I'm so happy that that happened because then I wouldn't be here. So I just wanted to say that um, yes, I do carry a gun, yes, um I'm a very good shot, I do practice regularly, and I take it very seriously, and it's not something that we um really joke around about. That's you know not the intention of this video, but it is very serious and it's about your safety, and that's one of the reasons that we love living in Texas. So, um, okay, so now um knowing that about us, right? Everybody knows that I'm a little um fun, a little crazy. I love my job, I love to sell homes and buy homes, but I'm also have a lot of fun things coming for the agents in our world. We have been working on something behind the scenes for a long time, and we're no longer building a team, okay? We are looking for agents who want to level up their business. We're not looking for part-time agents, we're not looking for people who just want to do real estate as a hobby. I don't believe that you can represent a buyer or a seller at a high level with that commitment. I'm not saying anything's wrong with it. I just don't believe that you can give the kind of commitment that a buyer and seller need in order to truly help them with one of the largest purchases that they make when it affects them financially on a daily basis. Now, we are looking for people who want to level up their business. It is not a team. We are literally building something new. And if you want to know about it, if you want to come see us at our new offices, we would love to talk to you. Our door is open, we are taking appointments, you just have to give us a call and then come and see us. So that is my Friday, is my Monday. You know where I'm gonna be all weekend. We are super excited about it. We cannot wait to sell these houses. We sold several of our listings this week. The interest rates are holding steady, hoping that everything across the world is um giving us peace in the Middle East very soon. But the most important thing is that Americans are taken care of here on our soil and that you have to have somewhere to live. You have to have somewhere to sleep. And we want to help you with that. Whether you're coming to Texas and anywhere in the greater Houston area, we service it all. We have a very detailed buyer consultation with you so that you can truly understand what area of Houston works for you, why it works for you, and how it's going to enrich your lifestyle. So, have a wonderful weekend. I can't wait to see you out and about, and you know how to find me.
