Meet your host! Suzanna Choffel is a musician, songwriter, radio personality (Sun Radio) & mother living in Austin, TX. She has toured internationally, been on NBC's The Voice, recorded four studio albums and spent time on the road with everyone from Adrian Quesada to Davíd Garza, Carbon Leaf & more. Her latest album Bird by Bird (2024) explores the multitudes found in both motherhood & midlife, a pandemic, mental health, living in New York City, the death of Breonna Taylor & more! While recording her latest album, her producer & friend Davíd Garza mentioned he thought she should start this podcast, combining her love & knowledge of music, conversation & of course motherhood! Voila! A new podcast was born...(a couple of years later).

Hey y'all!
Just a short little update on the pod to let you know it's coming back! It's just that, well, summer happened! IYKYK! Travel, full time parenting, snacks, screens, pooltime, no me time etc etc...but school is back in session & the podcast is too! Excited to have some great new guests lined up for you this "semester" ha!

Well, hello there. It has been a minute. I'm Susanna Schaufell, back with another mother. Yeah, took a little break. There's this whole thing called summer that happens, and it just sort of um depletes you completely as a mother. Your entire schedule is designed around feeding children and entertaining them, making sure they're not on screens too much, et cetera, et cetera, all while also working your three other jobs. So uh the podcast goes to the back burner when life gets like this, because you know, this is definitely a passion project. I don't make any money from this, at least yet, which is totally fine. My objective here is to just create wonderful conversations with other mothers and perhaps make new mothers or those who are considering becoming moms who are musicians feel a little more seen and a little less nervous or scared. Sometimes maybe more nervous or scared depending on what we talk about. Uh, however, I'm just popping back in to say, welcome back. I am scheduling new interviews right now and I have a whole new season planned. I did not quit the podcast, just took a bit of a pause, and that may happen again during uh times like, you know, holiday vacations and summer. Summer is just a doozy. And it also didn't help that I got a little melancholy this summer. I don't know if any of you struggled with that this uh season, but life has just been a lot lately, and so it's been hard for me to get motivated, harder than usual. But I'm feeling that back to school energy. The kids are back in school. I now have a middle schooler, which is insane. That's its own new uh kind of whirlwind and chaos because, you know, more homework, more new friends, more activities. But I do have a chunk of the day back to me. So feels good and lots of big new things happening this fall. I'm recording a new album as well, all kinds of good things in the works, lots of shows. Uh, but yeah, I'm I I love this podcast. I really enjoy having these conversations with other beautiful mamas. So stay tuned. I will be posting soon. If you're not following uh another mother pod on the socials, you can do that.
