The best strategy for the All-Star Race at Dover? Brad Keselowski says "Don't Crash"

David Styles caught up with former NASCAR Champion and Owner/Driver for RFK Racing Brad Keselowski ahead of the All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway this weekend.

NASCAR's All-Star Race Weekend is here, and I sat down with Brad Keslowski to talk a little bit of strategy as we get ready to take on the Monster Mile at Dover. I'm David Stiles. This is PRN's Garage Pass.

Brad Keslowski will be running in his 18th career All-Star race this weekend at Dover. The driver of the number six RFK Ford has never won the All-Star race, but has finished in the second position three different times. I asked Brad, since he is already locked into the final heat, what's the strategy for those first two 75 lap stages? The key to the strategy is not crashing.

You know, I look at the way the race is going to play out. You know, you take your average finish from the first two, and the best average finish creates the lineup for the third stage. I think when they drop the green for stage two, there's going to be a lot of drivers in the back because of the inversion that are really hungry to get to the front. And we all know at Dover, on these restarts, if there's any kind of chaos or crash, it can take a while the field with them. So trying to make sure we're not one of those is really important. Also, what do you do if they start wrecking in front of you? If there's an accident on the high land and you try to turn down to avoid it, the cars kind of find you. So they cover a lot of ground. And also it's really hard to stop the car at Dover. So if somebody spins in front of you and you hit the brakes, uh, it's almost guaranteed that you're going to spin out.

And besides a really big check, they have a different Miles the Monster trophy this year for the All-Star winner.

Well, Dover's definitely got one of the coolest trophies. I still uh have mine. I really enjoy it. It's a beautiful trophy. This year it's going to be silver for the All-Star Race. Uh, so I have a standard Miles.
