At the age of 41 years old, Kyle Bush, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, a husband and a father, has passed away. On Thursday afternoon, it was released from the Bush family in a statement that Bush has been hospitalized due to a severe illness. Later that afternoon, in a joint statement from the Bush family, Richard Childress Racing in NASCAR, they announced the devastating news and the tragic passing of Kyle Bush. Just six days prior, Kyle Bush stood victorious for us, the fans, and everyone else, one final time at Dover, giving everyone a bow after his 69th win in the Craftsman Truck Series. I was fortunate enough to get to know Kyle over the years in a professional manner as a part of the NASCAR Media Corps. I first met Kyle when I was 13 years old, reporting for my own outlet at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And for a 13-year-old, interviewing Kyle Bush, sure, that can be intimidating. But Kyle greeted us with a smile, introduced himself to both myself and my cameraman, who is also my dad, and ever since treated us with the same kindness and respect. It would be difficult to put a microphone in front of Kyle Bush's face, especially in the tough moments that he had later in his career. But one thing never wavered, and that was to respectfully answer my questions and to answer them honestly. Kyle Bush was a racer, a family man, and will be severely missed.
