Just three days after the sudden passing of NASCAR legend Kyle Bush, Daniel Suarez and the number 7 Spire Motorsports team made a gutsy call to take two tires on a pit stop that was brought out for inclement weather. That stop allowed them to assume the lead, and then they held off a late charge from Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin across two different restarts when the final flag was waved with 27 laps to go as rain and lightning descended upon Charlotte Motors Speedway Sunday evening. Here is Daniel Suarez on capturing an emotional victory in one of NASCAR's crown jewels. Suarez also said he was ready for the fight on both of those restarts.

When they throw the caution the first time, I thought it was enough rain for them to have to drive the truck. You know, we went again and I was like, let's go. And I was mad at that point because I can I knew that the racework wasn't 100%, but I said, let's go. They're not gonna give it to us. Let's go fight for it. I was ready. And the second time when we got pretty wet, I'm like, okay, this is, I mean, I already proved it, man, a couple of restos that I was competitive. I think it's time for these guys to do something about this water. I mean, no, and it was a lot of water.
