Denny Hamlin Is the Concrete King

Denny Hamlin finally captures a victory at Nashville Superspeedway for career win number 62. David Styles reports with a victory lane interview from PRN's Wendy Venturini.

Denny Hamlin continues to cement himself as the Concrete King after finally getting a win at Nashville Superspeedway. I'm David Stiles. This is PRN's Garage Pass.

And Denny didn't make it easy on himself from the get-go as he jumped the start of the race and had to serve a pass-through penalty. After fighting back all night, a late caution brought out from a failed right front brake rotor on the machine of Chris Busher gave us a four-lap dash to the end where Hamlin prevailed over teammates Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe. Take us back through that restart, Denny, and talk us through how tough that was on those 1-2-3 with Joe Gibbs racing.

You know, I got positioned because the 20, you know, washed up a little bit there in the first corner, you know, trying to clear the 19th. So that allowed me to get position on the inside, and there from there on, I'm just I'm trying to clear them, trying to side draft them. And then we go into turn one on the last lap, and I typically in these situations just overdrive the corner and then miss it. But I said, you know what, I'm just gonna roll the bottom. And the 20 just drove in so deep that it allowed me to clear, and that was it.

You've had so many emotional wins lately. How special is this one at Nashville this evening?

It's just unexpected. Uh we, you know, we've had the best car so many times this year and haven't won. Definitely did not have the best car today. The 20 had the class of the field. Man, it feels good to win one that you didn't think you were gonna win.
