Last week, NASCAR Cup Series driver Alex Bowman announced he will retire at the end of the 2027 NASCAR season. Over the weekend, he spoke about it. For PRN's Garage Pass, this is Andrew Kerlin.

SPEAKER_01It came as a surprise, at least to me, that Alex Bowman announced that he will retire at the end of the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. And over the last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he addressed the media for the first time since that announcement. Here's Alex Bowman talking about why he made that decision for his future.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, I think for me it's always been in like this time frame, I would say like kind of this three-year block, um, whether it was 26, 27, or 28, and I mean that's something we've talked about for a really long time, um, and that I've always had circled. I think with what went on in March, I feel like I, you know, kind of in my head had had looked at this year being it quite a bit and talked about that. But um yeah, just trying to make the best decision for me and and obviously the best decision for Hendrick Motorsport. I think I really want to end on a more positive note than kind of how this year has been. So that gave me a little more motivation to come back and go one more year. Um I think it is is better for for me personally, it's better for Hendrick Motorsports. Um and yeah, it's uh it's been a lot of fun. Obviously, it's been a dream come true to get to drive for HMS and work with everybody there. And um, yeah, doing our best to uh end this year strong and have a really strong year next year.
SPEAKER_01Silly season is now among us, and the big question now is who's gonna fill that coveted seat at Hendrick Motorsports. For PRN's Garage Pass, this is Andrew Curland.
